not posting art online and comparing myself to others and just straight up blocking when someone is shit for my mental health are really really good for how I perceive my own art and my mental health
who would have thought
#i miss posting art in a way#because i feel like now i have zero opportunities to connect with other people#but every month without fail I'd start to absolutely detest everything i did#and would feel hurt over how people did or did not interact with what i shared online#and i don't think I'm over that at all#but just not giving anyone the opportunity to see and judge#I'm back to being the only person seeing my art#I don't have to feel vulnerable in front of people anymore#I'm not giving people the opportunity to make me feel small and like I'm not good enough#there's no one to be good enough for#it's enough for me it's enough for my sketchbook and the privacy of my own home#it's sad that I don't think i was ever welcome in the fandom and that what I contributed didn't amount to much#but I'm just grateful that I'm in a better place mentally again and that i don't feel like I'm fighting for my life each month

I'm IWTV-wank-avoidance-asking Anon and it kinda missed me that it would be a wanky topic lol I was trying to see if the show is worth watching. A lot of my mutuals are posting IWTV gifs so I assume it's good, but I was curious if anyone who read the novel would think "Better read the novel". I don't realize an asking-for-rec ask would be wanky, but now that I think about who the writer is, it kinda makes sense. My bad lol
--
Ahahahaha.
Around here, I don't think anyone is precious enough about Anne Rice to start the genuine version of this wank, but Rice fandom can be... uh... very intense even on top of Rice herself having been the queen of drama.
You know about Red Beans Anne Rice, right?
Many years ago, Anne got all butthurt about a tacky-ass restaurant taking over an abandoned building that she'd had Lestat being emo in in one of the books. Instead of gothic atmosphere, it was now very PINK and LOUD. So she wasted money taking out ads in the local paper as Lestat trying to shame the restaurant owner... at which point a bunch of other restaurant owners also wasted money to respond in newspaper ads saying that they welcomed fellow businesspeople. It all ended in the restaurant's grand opening and people with plates of "Red beans Anne Rice" (i.e. red beans and rice).
--
Anyway, I read the first book back in the 90s when I was like 15. It's decent from what I remember. The thing that made it iconic when it came out in 1976 was that it was pretty heavily pushing the vampire=drug addict metaphor. This is everywhere in sexy goth sadboi vampire media now, but it wasn't as much of a thing at the time.
It was also very, very gay but in that way where (at least in the first book), nobody really says the word. That meant something in the 70s. Even by the 90s, it wasn't such a big deal, and it's a big nothingburger in the 2020s.
Book 1 is Rice dealing with the death of her child. It's all about suicidal feelings and Catholic weirdness. The main character is Louis, a.k.a. Rice's self-insert (which she confirmed herself).
Books 2 onward are about Lestat's dick.
He becomes a rockstar, vampire-bones the ur vampire, which causes him to mega level up, thus enabling him to thwart her plot to kill all men on earth aside form a few for breeding purposes, bodyswaps so he has a working penis again, fucks a nun, swaps back, gets Louis back by trying to commit suicide and accidentally getting a tan, etc... Much, much later books are about the other bonkers vampires, most of them more in the horny rockstar mold than the sad mommy of dead baby one.
In book 1, Louis is a depressed plantation owner who eats a bunch of his slaves among other fucked up shit. Claudia, their vampire daughter, is a small child who is upset about being stuck as a kid forever. One of the more disturbing parts is when Louis finds out she's fucking adult men. Lestat turns out to be a French nobleman with mommy issues despite Louis thinking he was only pretending to be upper class.
-- The TV series moved the entire plot much later in history, made Louis black, and gave him a spine. Some racists cried about this and some of tumblr cried about how it was offensive to take the plantation owner and make him black instead of doing that with the other one.
The show also made it more overt that Lestat is an abusive jackass boyfriend. This apparently came as a surprise to people with poor reading comprehension. Others have wanked about fans still liking Louis/Lestat instead of Louis/less terrible boyfriends. But... like... It's IWTV. What did they expect?
(So yes, some book fans will be immensely wanky about the show. Ignore them.)
Also, I hear they fuck on the show? Rice's vampires don't have working junk, which we know because Lestat stands in front of an entire wall of mirrors in the most bougie bathroom ever in Akasha's evil lair and discusses how his penis—I mean "The Organ"—no longer does anything.
Also, Armand in the books is the 14-year-old kept boy of a Renaissance painter with a harem of boys or something like that. (It's been a very long time since I read these.) Shit like this never makes it into the adaptations.
--
If you're curious about the history of vampire media or about a certain kind of Southern gothic shit, sure, read the books, particularly the first one with its radically different tone and much greater historical importance.
The old movie is a decent adaptation of book 1, though it makes it less gay (or at least removes Louis' weird boner for his dead brother) and messes with the ending in a way that would have made sequels veer off from the books. I haven't seen that other old movie with Aaliyah, but it looks like a campy time capsule of baaaad movies of that era.
Anyway, no, you don't need to read the book before watching the show. They changed a massive amount of stuff.
I'm in more of a Chinese media phase right now, but a bunch of friends have watched and said the show is genuinely good.

some thoughts...
at this point this seems like the usual 'hey, a show that has my whole heart got canceled' -post because it keeps haunting me every year but i have some words on dead boy detectives.
when the trailer was posted my first thought was 'hmmm, i don't really know about this. i'm still sad and upset about lockwood. but i gotta say this looks interesting'. months passed, dbd aired. and i LOVED it from the very first second. loved it more than any other show i've ever seen before. it was fun, it was lovely, everything made sense, no plot holes, interesting characters, long episodes, action, romance, it had everything. i could go on about how much i love this show for hours but if you know me, you know how much i love it and the cast + crew. they deserve all the praise in the world and all they wish for. they created a home for so many of us. true heroes.
dbd introduced me to the most amazing people in the world. i started talking to someone who i've known for some time but dbd was the reason we connected. i guess it was that last bit of tv magic that brought us together.
i don't really enjoy tv shows all that much (movies even less), so a show has to be good for me to give it a chance. it took me 0.01 seconds to know dead boy detectives was the show for me. it sparked my creativity, i had (and still have!) so many ideas. it made me happy. truly happy. whenever i think about the show or all the people i was introduced to because of it i get emotional. it means so much to me and it's like my little escape from reality. a dream really. a dream that's not ending because a certain network decided it was a good idea to cancel one of it's best shows. after 8 episodes. 1 season. again.
i'm really grateful and i don't know what i did to be welcomed in this fandom. i love everyone here and i hope we'll continue to be a little family. you may not know me or just see me as someone who posts content but just know that i'm thankful you crossed my path somehow. thank you for making me happy and being a little part of my life 🫂 and remember - we're all just a mirror away 🫶

i do think it’s kinda funny that casgirls are now complaining about “deangirls saying cas is a bad dad to jack” when like… most of the bad dad criticism for cas (granted, based on what i’ve seen, from you and your/my mutuals) is about how he’s treated other kids in the show like claire 😭😭 for jack specifically, at most, i’ve seen criticisms about cas’s high expectations for jack, but it’s all said in a rather fair, polite way, still qualifying that cas is a good dad in other moments.
but… but then it makes me kinda sad cause their defense is often just here’s cute pictures of cas and jack and btw dean sucks and he only continues thee cycle of bad dads 😞😞
sorry for ranting to you like this, but a casgirl account showed up on my dash and (i did not interact with them but) now i’m feeling kinda like when dean gets insulted for trying to say his own opinions lolol
I don't think anyone was particularly mean about Cas, but you have to remember that deancrit is an accepted staple of destielblr and cascrit isn't. It's been that way for a long time and destielblr has allowed it to be that way. Cas fans are very unused to people talking about Cas even slightly negatively without 50 different qualifiers downplaying whatever he did/didn't do because that has become standard in order to soothe the egos of a handful of touchy cas stans.
I think Cas's intentions are always for good. Sometimes his actions don't work out the way he wants. Sometimes he has blindspots. I don't feel the need to prove I feel that way every single time I write a post. I don't even tag my posts with fandom specific tags. I assume my audience is my followers who already know how I think.
I guess I just think it's funny that saying anything about Dean goes, up to and including that he is the sole problem in every single relationship he has ever had, but the moment someone says Cas isn't actually around that much to parent Jack suddenly everyone acts like we're having this huge fandom-wide discourse deangirls are forcing them into it. Well the people who feel that way can go have that discourse by themselves. I'm not going to treat this like it's a huge deal. Cas did not take as active a role in parenting Jack day to day or being with him day to day as Dean did. If people want to bitch about me saying so for three days while pretending I am somehow inciting them to do that, they're more than welcome to do that over in their little area while I move on to more interesting topics.

It's Not What It Looks Like
for @msdjsg7
Welcome to Chapter 2 of my first fic, first Loki fic, and first char x reader fic, Taking Chances! You can find Chapter One here.
Warnings/tags: a little bit of strong language (shut it, Steve), good!Loki, fluff, soft!Loki, Avenger!Loki, you and Loki are friends (maybe eventually more, oops that could be a spoiler), Loki's in a stabby mood for about half a scene
No age limits
Fandom: MCU movie Loki
You blinked awake slowly after the best sleep you'd had in weeks to find yourself in a bed not your own. Too much green.
Then you noticed that you were in someone's arms.
Loki's?!
You shifted a bit, embarrassed, trying to remember how you got here. Oh, right... in your exhaustion-hazed brain last night, you thought getting your Jotunn best friend to cuddle you to cool you down in place of the air conditioning was a good idea. Yeah. That's right.
Loki stirred a bit and woke up at your movements, that malicious smirk creeping onto his face as he looked down at you. He didn't need to say anything - his face said more than words could. He thought this was funny.
You glared at him. "Shut up," you growled as you shifted away, trying to put some distance between you two. Anything to make this less awkward, oh Norns why did I ever think this was a good idea, I need to get away from him I don't like the butterfly feeling I'm getting right now because it's starting to transition to turning me on...
He actually smiled at you. "I haven't said a word, darling." He paused for effect. "You, on the other hand, were... rather demanding last night." The smile became his trademark smirk once more. "It's not often a woman forces herself into my bed and orders me to hold her."
Your glare intensified as you pulled away, out of his grasp, and slipped out of the bed entirely.
You didn't expect long, cool fingers to wrap around your wrist and keep you from taking another step.
Loki had moved faster than you'd ever seen any being move before to grab your wrist and prevent you from leaving.
You froze for a second, barely able to believe your ears at what he said next. "Did I tell you that you had to leave?"
You finally snapped out of your holy-shit-is-this-really-happening trance, not making any more moves to leave, as you said "I should... It's dawn."
"I see that. What I do not see is how the sunrise has any bearing on your staying with me or leaving. It's quite rare that anyone chooses to be near me." He attempted to pull you back.
You sighed, but let him pull you off-balance so you landed back beside him. "If the others see me sneaking out of your room, they might, well... get ideas." You said as you settled back in beside him.
He chuckled softly at that. "Mm. Perhaps we shouldn't allow that."
"Then why do you want me to stay?"
"Simply because I desire your company, is that a problem for you?"
It was once again your turn to be shocked. "N-no. It's not. But you only get five more minutes."
He pulled you close enough to put his arms back around you. "I shall not keep you a second longer than you wish."
You two laid there a few more moments, simply existing together and listening to the sound of one another's breathing. When the five minutes were up, you reluctantly slipped out of Loki's grasp, eliciting a small, sad whine from him. "Already?"
"Yeah, Lokes. I really need to leave now." You said softly as you headed for the door. "See you at breakfast?"
"Won't miss it, since you asked me." His reply was barely audible through the blankets he'd burrowed back into.
What the fuck was that all about? You thought as you headed back to your own room for a shower.
________________________________
When you walked into the kitchen after sneaking back to your room to get ready, Natasha grabbed your arm and pulled you to the side without even giving you a chance to say a word. "So. You and the iceman, huh?" She whispered, looking at you with a conniving smirk.
"Wh- what are you talking about?" You said, trying to feign innocence despite the blush creeping onto your face.
"You went past my room last night and this morning."
"So?"
"Loki's is the last. Mine's next to his."
"It- it's not what it looks like, Nat, I swear..." You managed to say, looking away from her piercing gaze.
"Sure. We've all seen the looks you two give each other, haven't we, Clint?" She called over her shoulder to her partner in crime.
Clint, in the middle of shoving waffles into his mouth, glanced up and said something unintelligible due to his mouth being full.
"See? He agrees." Natasha locked that intense stare she uses during interrogations onto you, daring you to lie again.
"Oh my Gooood..." you moaned in exasperation, rolling your eyes while you frantically formulated a lie.
"Yes?" The smooth voice beside you shocked you, and you glanced over to see Loki smirking at you. "You called?"
"You're not helping, Loki!" You shot him a glare. "Tell Nat why I was in your room last night." You attempted to communicate with your eyes that he needed to lie to her to un-incriminate you both. Tell her anything but the fact that I demanded you cuddle me.
His eyes lit up for a split second - you could practically see what he was thinking. 'This is going to be fun.'
"Well, Miss Romanoff, she walked into my room, forced herself into my bed and demanded that I hold her because it was "too hot everywhere but with me."" He put little air quotes around the last six words - he must have picked that up from Thor.
"God damn it, Loki, why -" your protest was cut off by Natasha's "HA! I KNEW IT!" She triumphantly high-fived Clint and you noticed her surrepititiously being handed money by Sam, Steve, and even Bruce. Thor looked pleased.
She turned back to you with a satisfied look on her face. "JARVIS, you can fix our changes now."
"With pleasure, Miss Romanoff." the AI replied, sounding almost... teasing?
"You see, we've all seen the looks you and Reindeer Games here give each other. So lady triple imposter and her birdbrain decided to do something about it. We actually were all in on it." Tony added from the coffee machine.
"I had JARVIS crank up the temp in your room, the hall, and a little bit in Loki's." Clint said around his fork.
"I obeyed, but made certain that your thermostats showed no change." JARVIS added from the ceiling.
"I went along with their grand scheme and made it believable, didn't think it'd work though." Tony chipped in again from behind his coffee mug.
"I orchestrated all this because you two clearly are all heart eyes for each other." Natasha said, looking satisfied.
"And we bet them it wouldn't work." Bruce, Sam and Steve added sadly.
Thor now looked confused. "I.. was told to ignore everyone else and keep quiet."
You and Loki exchanged identical infuriated glances and took a simultaneous step forward, reaching for your favorite weapons - Loki conjuring a dagger out of thin air, you drawing the one he gave you from its sheath on your hip. "Lot of planning just for it to backfire on them, huh?" you said as you and Loki advanced on the others. "Mm." Loki agreed.
"See? You even reacted the same!" an unfazed Natasha managed to say through her laughter.
Sam's eyes got big and he stood up, tugging Steve and Bruce, who was getting nervous and looking a little green veined, with him. "Thor, should we run?" he asked, already heading for the door.
"I advise it. My brother rather enjoys stabbing people who get on his bad side." Thor replied.
"Relax, Dr. Green Bean. Don't go smashing the place." you said as you passed Bruce being tugged along by Sam. "We won't touch you three."
Loki paused and touched your wrist with his free hand. You glanced at him.
"Perhaps we should give them what they wish?" he whispered just loud enough for the others to hear.
"How... do you propose to do that?" you replied, confused.
His free arm slipped around your waist. "Is this okay?" He looked pleased with himself.
Why not, you thought, and said as much as you leaned into him.
"We've changed our minds." Loki said as he lowered the dagger in his hand and you sheathed yours. "However, conspire against me again and you will see why I am called the god of mischief." He, without warning, threw his dagger, embedding it in the wall a few inches from Nat's head.
"HEY! You WILL be fixing that, and by hand, not with magic!" Tony complained at the hole in the wall that appeared when Loki made the dagger disappear, and reappear back in its place in his room.
Loki pulled you a bit closer and led you along with him as he stepped around Tony and towards the cabinets to find something to eat. As you moved beside him, one thought ran through your mind.
What the fuck is happening between us.

2 year 'Hiatus'
(long post/rambling)
Hello everyone! The day's finally come for me to start my 2-year hiatus.
I'll be starting school tomorrow, July 1st, from 8am - 5pm Mon-Fri. (Full time). So there won't be many opportunities for me to keep constantly posting here all the time.
I want to personally thank you all for welcoming me into the Street Fighter fandom and for taking the time out of your day to interact with my blog.
I never thought I would become a fanfic writer again after so many years of not writing and to meet so many of you throughout my stay here.
With my first fic, Mount, I was nervous about people not caring about it and for it to be lost in the Street Fighter algorithm because I joined the fandom so late. (March 2024). And originally, I planned to make that my only fanfic and call it a day. But after I got my first comment I was over the moon.
Then slowly I had people liking and following this side blog where I dumped all my random reblogs on. And that's when I realized, there were people still out there loving these characters as much as I did despite the slow traction on the street fighter dash.
So that's when I decided to make this random side blog into a SF6 fanfic blog.
I started to write strictly Bosch x Reader's in the beginning because he was the reason why I joined this space in the first place. Then I wrote for Luke, then Poison, then Ed, then Jamie, then at last Chun-Li. I learned to love characters that I first didn't give a second thought about and I learned more info. about some SF characters I wasn't aware of before.
Then my blog went from 0 followers to 38! Holy smokes, 38 people really cared enough to follow and read my ramblings? That's crazy. I never even expected to have 1 follower much less 38.
My favorite part about writing for this fandom was interacting with everyone in the comment section/reblogs. I enjoy talking to you all and writing silly blurbs whenever we get too into the hcs. Really, it makes my day better when I see people commenting and giving love to my works.
And to be 100% honest with you all, I was originally going to start including a lot more X Fem!Reader Inserts because I am a Cis Woman who never wrote for any other genders but Fem! ones. But seeing how little fanfics there were, I thought it would be unfair for me to exclude the other side of the SF6 fandom that wouldn't be able to enjoy any reader inserts because of their gender.
So I'm glad I didn't go that route because I got to find ways to be more inclusive in my writings without mentioning the reader's Skin/Gender/Appearance in any of them and to keep them gender-neutral.
And as a reminder, this blog is the first time for me to write this way, so if you guys think that some of my works sound Fem! based please tell me so I could fix it. Because the last thing I want is for people to tell me I'm more biased for my female audience.
I don't know If you guys knew this, but it kinda broke my heart when I found out I was accepted to this school. Granted, I've been trying to get in for 4 years.
But I honestly didn't think I would've gotten in this year because I thought I bombed my 5-panel interview with the school and they only accepted the top 25 people in my area.
I even started to make plans to work a full-time job somewhere else, take Muay Thai classes, write more fics, and give up on my dreams of ever becoming an X-ray tech. But then I got a phone call on my birthday saying I made it in!
I was overwhelmed with happiness for all my efforts getting into this school after so long. I felt like I was running behind all my peers who already graduated and got their careers started compared to me. But now I get to finally start mine and do what I've always wanted to do and to help people.
Then, I was hit with a wave of sadness because I barely dipped my toes into the Street Fighter fandom and now I'm already leaving. All my ideas for future fics, including the ones rotting in my drafts, may never see the light of day. I was really sad for everything to come to an abrupt end for something that barely even started.
What's going to happen to this blog?
To be frank with you all, I still REALLY want to post SF fics but I know that it probably won't be possible with my schedule for the next 2 years.
I do get a 1-2 week break every 3 months for my school so y'all might see something pop up in the SF6 feed every once in a while. I’ll mostly be writing on my terms and I won’t be answering anyone’s asks. But it's not guaranteed you will.
Plus, I bought the game, so it's not like I'm just gonna drop SF6 out of my life completely. I'll post things here and there that are not fics and maybe tiny drabbles in my free time but it's still up in the air if I will. You'll see me being active on here but not in the same way that you usually do.
Now that I'm transitioning to going to school full-time, I'm nervous about what's to come out of everything, since I've been looking forward to this day since I graduated high school.
I also want to thank you all for sending your requests in. They helped me learn where my writing was strongest and where I needed to improve.
I tried to get through all of your asks as best as I could but I believe there are 2 left in my inbox as of now. I’m sorry I wasn’t the best at being consistent and I hope to get those out as soon as I can.
Thank you all again, for making my time here memorable and I hope to keep posting more SF6 content in the future.
And please continue to support other fanfic writers in the Street Fighter fandom like:

QUICK NOTE
I believe Nic and Luke are both single.
Nic is chronically online. It is not even that far-fetched to believe she is on this app reading all our comments and theories (hi Nic, we love you).
I have come to the conclusion that Nic and Jake are working on a project together. Her friend that wrote Big Mood is also involved, I have a suspicion that it might even be S2 of Big Mood. They are only friends. They are poking fun at the fans jumping to conclusions, and to be honest, we deserve it. I can only imagine how unfun it is for Nic to have to explain to her family and friends that what is being said in the media and SM is not true, might even push her so far as to bring it up in a speech.
Now, if you are reading this, Nic... it is okay to accept accolades without pivoting to someone else to highlight them instead of acknowledging your own journey to success. It is okay to be proud. We see you.
I think Luke is probably still in contact with A. But their situationship is desolving as we speak. Luke would never treat someone he actually cares for the way he treats her. Her desperate attempts at showing that she is still relevant are quite frankly sad. Unlike Nic, Luke is not online. He opens social media when he gets a notification or if someone sends him a link. I don't think he is aware of the discourse. He likes As posts because he still wishes her well. That is normal.
If we can all come together and stop reacting to any news regarding their "personal" lives, we can take back the power. Just ignore it. Don't spiral. If Nic and Luke want to be together, they will be.
The fandom is a powerful machine, but it loses all its power when we let DM or any outlet like them control the narrative.
We know what love looks like, we have experienced it, seen it, and we know that there has only ever been love between Nic and Luke. You are welcome to prove me wrong. Holding awkwardly hands is not it. Neither is a New years kiss. The rest is just noise.
I am refocusing on what brings me joy. Polin and Bridgerton. I invite all the lukola community to do the same.

Roman Reigns + Correspondent!Reader (Finale) 🖤

Part 5

2024
Welcoming kisses, Roman grounded your footsteps and truly smiled before making his plate.
“I'll be right back. It's probably my neighbors looking for treats again.” You armed baked goods and headed out of the kitchen.
Checking that peephole once though, you realized something different.
Shit!
“What's going on?” Jey stepped forward and you turned around, almost scared.
“CM Punk is here.” Your kind voice nearly shook with the truth.
Damn. Jey gritted frustration without ever scaring you.
“Do me a favor and just go upstairs for a little while. One of us will bring some food after we get Punk out of here. Aight?” Jey no longer smiled, quietly fuming.
“Okay.” You nodded, but Jimmy, Sami and Roman determined your sadness.
“Hey. What happened, baby?” Roman nearly scrunched up his face, concerned.
“Punk is waiting outside.” You quickly pulled emotions together.
“What?” While Jey guided you upstairs, Roman fumed within.
______
When Punk crossed one main threshold of your house, Jimmy, Jey, Sami and Roman stood to protect that space.
“What are you doing here? I told Wiseman not to. invite you.” Ro knew better.
“Paul didn't ask me to come here, Roman.” Punk defended himself.
“Then who?” Roman spoke up, yet Jimmy and Jey looked out. Even Sami Zayn waited for more.
“No one else.” Punk cleared his throat and sighted Roman once more.
“Listen right now.” Roman stepped forward. “I kept a very good mood before you showed up, but if you don't leave my angel's house in the next five seconds, we're going outside, match or not.”
“I'm not lying. We saved each other at the match and kept your title.” Punk shook his head.
“Get out or we'll have problems.” Roman quickly pointed. “I won't repeat myself a third time, either.”
“Don't fight me yet. All right? There's a match scheduled on New Year's Eve and I found out after we finished the press conference.” No longer hiding the truth, Punk revealed this bombshell.
What the hell? Everyone froze.
****
The next day, Roman stepped up to handle this unexpected situation.
“What's going on?” Ro sat with higher-ups for the meeting. “Punk showed up out of nowhere last night and y'all didn't even tell us about the new match.”
One leader had spoken up. “We've changed the schedule.”
“I don't think you understand.” Roman kept talking. “Someone showed up to my best friend's home unannounced. And now you're telling me that a match will line up on New Year's Eve?”
“I'm sorry.” The leader apologized.
“I'm not joining anything without paperwork.” Ro defended himself once more. “Are you just messing with us right now?"
“No.” Leadership confirmed the truth as attorneys entered the room.
Here we go. Roman thought.
*****
“Welcome ladies and gentlemen! For the first time ever, Midnight Madness is here.” Announcers pulled introductions as fans cheered during this special event.
Lights flickered through the large-scale arena as Roman Reigns emerged alone. Heroically ominous music carried his Tribal Chief persona.
Secondary music hadn't arrived to reveal his true opponent yet. Here, everyone mumbled with questions as darkness still captured this venue.
When the space brightened in all directions, you stood directly across from Roman while holding this microphone and offered an adorable smile.
Thousands of people shrieked and joyful cheering nearly erupted when Roman looked at you.
“We gon’ fight? I thought you loved me, Sweetheart.” Subtitles caught his jokes.
You don't play along with games, even when his beautiful lips would almost pucker toward you for kisses. The fans just screamed beyond words.
“Tribal Chief?” You always respected his leadership.
Despite staying in character, Roman just can't believe your outfit. You looked so good tonight, but his focus would mean everything on camera
“Yes, Ma'am?” His strong voice had leveled enough for you.
“I know who your opponent will be tonight.” You continued speaking and thousands shouted in anticipation.
“I'm all ears.” Ro pulled up the Big Dog attitude.
Clearing your throat, you stood prepared to make this announcement.
“Tonight's opponent is the undisputed WWE Champion, The American Nightmare: Cody Rhodes!” You revealed the big surprise.
“My goodness! Cody Rhodes will battle Roman Reigns in time for the new year.” Commentators raved.
You smiled just before Cody's encouraging song woke up the galaxy tonight:
Adrenaline, in my soul.
Every thought out of control.
Do it all to get them off their feet.
Crowd is here, about to blow.
Waitin' for me to start the show.
Out the curtain, lights go up, I'm home
(Whoa!)
And my father said, when I was younger.
Hard times breed better men. (Better men!)
You took it all away, I give it all away.
Can't take my freedom.
Here to change the game, a banner made of pain.
I built my kingdom!
Now you bow to me.
You took my dreams, but not my name.
You'll follow me until the end.
I am my kingdom!
Fireworks sparked around Cody as he waved to fans and stepped to the ring with his microphone.
“Here we go, again.” Cody almost smiled while greeting the event.
“Don't get arrogant. Wrestlemania was fair, but tonight will be different.” Roman wanted power back, especially with you here.
“Are you sure?” Cody went on. “As valiant as your words seem tonight, grit never challenges perseverance.”
“Look. Who's standing next to me now?” Roman gestured by you and the crowd screamed.
Quietly shifting emotions to become this televised persona, you stepped forward.
Fans yelled out loud when cameras recognized the iconic smirk that reached your face.
“Uh-oh! The Detective is here.” Commentators remarked on this change in atmosphere when your character “arrived” without pulling gimmicks.
“Be very careful. This is my best friend.” Roman grounded the importance of you standing with him.
“I know.” Cody would pull more strings this time around. “But aren't you tired?”
“What?” Roman scrunched up his face. Confusion even darkened the audience.
“Stop holding the crown.” Cody advised. “Let someone else move forward.”
“I'm not giving up. Never.” Roman closed this segment, but you noticed something different before the commercial break would start.
Ringside, Jimmy and Jey grinned while standing together. Your mind spun.
“Oh, what's going on? Roman's cousins Jimmy and Jey Uso are standing by the ring at this moment.” Commentary updated viewers.
“Excuse me, but Roman has an important question for you.” Cody smiled near your path again.
Before you could ask Roman anything, this man reached into his pocket and knelt, bringing the place toward an absolute frenzy of excitement.
Breaking character, you blinked through tears and covered your face, finally understanding why Joseph “planned” your time at this luxurious nail salon before everyone could shoot the episode.
“Joe!” Holding your heart, you can't think straight when his gorgeous smile brightened and fans cheered even louder than before.
“We met here.” Joseph offered his truth and declared happiness. “You changed everything for me right here. I've stood on my own, but we're a team and I am so proud to be yours. Will you marry me, baby?”
Somehow, the large venue nearly silenced as fans waited to hear your response.
“Yes!” Nodding feverishly, you sniffled through happiness and accepted forever, jumping into his arms after Joseph slipped the engagement ring onto your finger.
“Forever has begun! Congratulations to the happy couple. We'll return to the program after these messages.” Commentary raved once more and you smiled against Joe's lips while commercials started.
_____
“I'm kicking his ass and then we'll go home.” Joe chuckled backstage while getting ready for the match.
“Deal.” You nearly giggled.
“C'mon.” Joe smiled again. “Let's get this over with before I get distracted. The ring is blinding me.”
Everyone almost cackled before timing signaled the match for good.
*****
“You know what just happened.” Roman channeled truth and nearly growled through smack talk. ‘Don't embarrass me in front of my wife.”
“I love her too, y'know?” Cody taunted. “Your loss won't be embarrassing. It'll look beautiful.”
“I'm done talking.” Roman spoke up to reveal cinematic anger.
“The Tribal Chief has landed one brutal Superman Punch to Cody!” Announcers jumped up. “Tonight could mark the easiest win of Roman's career.”
“Let Reigns win, Cody! He's getting married for goodness sake.” Another commentator shouted.
Catching each second, you kept watching the battle upfront and noticed when Roman opened both arms after leaning back against the rings.
Spear. You know his ending like the back of your hand.
Ooh-wa!
In sync with your fiancé, you raised both arms and shouted directly to the ceiling, yelling with thousands of people as Roman charged forward.
“Ladies and gentlemen, here is your winner, The OTC - Roman Reigns!” This announcement pulled one last time before Roman skipped the ring and found you, spinning this joyful moment for a kiss.
Credits rolled as fireworks erupted and you cried in Joseph's arms, grateful.

Do you think you could do like a characterization of the Familers?
Everytime I try to think about their personalities and how they would interact with each other, or M6, or Mc I just feel like I don't get it right. Like I've got like the very basics but that's like it
Malak is a crazy
Chandra is spoiled
Faust is a wildcard
Ianna is protective
Pepi is energetic
Idk Lucio’s familars ( i cant spell one of their names) but they are kinda like wild dogs, they do whatever they want
EVEN THEN, I still feel like some of these are wrong or don't cover most of their character or I'm mischaracterizing them on accident.
Could you maybe do some more Familers mini headcannons?
Like what do the Familers do when M6 is sad?
What do they do when Mc is sad?
How do they interact with each other on a day to day bases?
( I think you might have done one of these actually )
But I have more
What do they do when M6 or/and MC gets hurt?
What do they typically do during the day and/or What do they do when they aren't with M6?
How would they respond if M6/Mc was in a dangerous situation/attacked | How are they when M6/Mc is ill?
Some of these are probably answers in their routes but it's hard to remember/recall. I do wish they were in their respective routes just a little bit more than they are so I could get a could grasp of their personalities.
What I really want is just like a written out basis of what they are like? I don't even need the Mini headcannons ( but I do like them) Their personalities is just what I have a hard time grasping because it not like right in front of me or I'm not constantly reminded of it like the Li’s that I just forget or mischaracterize them.
So if you ever have the time and or patience, I would love if you could just write about their personalities or just more about them in general. They are right hand to the Li’s and I love them so much and I tried using the wiki but I don't trust it because apparently some of the info is just flat-out wrong. I love reading you headcannons and mini headcannons because I feel like you do the Li’s justice and this account is keeping the Arcana fandom alive. I'm very sorry that this is a really long ask and my grammar my be wrong in some areas.
I'd like to thank you if you've read through everything. I hope you keep making Arcana content in the future as me and many others really do enjoy your content and takes on the characters.

Hi friend!! I hope you're ready for the full scale essay under the cut XD
(also, you are more than welcome to request some mini-hcs with the M6's familiars - please feel free to submit them individually so I can sort and try to answer them ^.^)
The devs don't go hugely into detail about how familiars work, exactly, but here's what we know: First, how in-tune to magic you are does affect how involved your bond is, but people still have familiars whether or not they have a lot of magical ability. Second, the bond makes the most sense if you think of it as being similar to a "soulmates AU" setup. The person and animal involved have a natural connection with the potential for a full-fledged familiar bond, but how that manifests changes depending on the effort and type of bonding that happens.
There's also a consistent pattern when it comes to vibes and personality, with the familiars being very similar to their respective humans. I'll go familiar by familiar from here ^.^
Malak:
Julian and Malak are (unfortunately) not very in touch with each other. Julian doesn't speak of him much beyond referring to him as "the raven", and while it's clear that they're more in sync than the average human and animal would be, Julian tends to find it more uncanny than comforting. Malak, in turn, tends to get quickly annoyed by this when his genuine attempts to help and protect and connect get consistently thwarted. He shares Julian's values and habits, constantly keeping watch (anxiously or otherwise) over his person and the people important to him, and often flying beak-first into situations that seem out of control with little regard for his own well being. Malak and Julian have the capacity to cover each other's blind spots. Julian is quicker at analyzing and navigating social situations that sometimes send the bird into a frenzy, while Malak is aware of magical happenings that Julian is completely blind to.
The two of them share an anxiety about the world being a constantly dangerous place and noble mindset focused around doing the right thing and protecting the people they love. The big difference is that Malak doesn't doubt his own abilities - as generally anxious as he acts with all his ruffling feathers and screeches, the raven doesn't hold himself back because he thinks someone else could do better. If anything, he's often pushing Julian to get over the self-deprecation and join him already. Unfortunately, neither of them has figured out how to listen to each other yet, which means more often than not they just get on each other's nerves. Given MC's ability to help Julian navigate things of a magical nature, they could very easily become the communication bridge between the two.
Faust
It's pretty heavily implied (if not canon) that Faust is the child of Asra's parents' familiars, Chimes and Flamel. She was given to Asra as an egg and hatched on one of their birthdays, and the two have been inseparable ever since. They have an incredibly strong bond, enough for them to send memories to each other, have conversations, communicate across long distances, and even share emotions. Faust loves Asra, herself, and MC almost equally, and in Asra's route she happily becomes MC's companion when Asra isn't around to do so. She also appears to have her own capacity for magic, frequently blipping from one realm to another as she pleases.
The best way (in my head) of describing her vibes are that one honorary younger sibling who is also the instigator best friend. While she's borne witness to Asra's toughest moments, she's received such excellent care and attention that she doesn't seem to have nearly the same levels of trauma - or maturity. Reading about her feels a lot like what I imagine reading about a teenaged Asra with a much kinder life would feel like - whimsical, mischievous, creative, impulsive, unpredictable, and carefree to the point of recklessness. She's still learning what it means to have limits (re: going off on an unannounced adventure, only to be caught and held hostage by the Devil) but when push comes to shove she's suprisingly dependable (re: sabotaging the ritual, right under the Devil's nose).
Due to her being so accessible to MC's character, she has a level of plot influence and general content that comes closer to a main character than the other familiars. It gives fan work more content to work with, but also less space to take its own creative liberty.
Chandra
Chandra is always hovering, and yet rarely directly involved. We know that Nadia used to be able to speak with her similarly to how Asra speaks with Faust, but she doesn't remember how. There's a wall between the two of them that they both seem to want to breach, but given the circumstances, they just haven't found the time and resources to do it yet. However, it's clear that they know how important they are to each other - Chandra seems to live at Nadia's beck and call, despite seeming so distant, and Nadia dedicates much of her personal time and interests to caring for her. They rely heavily on each other as allies in uncertain times (re: Nadia trusting Chandra in multiple routes to be her eyes and ears and carry her most important messages).
Chandra certainly has Nadia's independence, initiative, and desire for companionship. She's often seen on alert on the fringes and ready to step in and help take control of chaotic situations. However, where Nadia responds to a desire for companionship by initiating connection, Chandra is more reserved. She's present, she's paying attention, but she's not actively connecting until she's invited. She, like Nadia, has become accustomed to living in a Palace filled with with intrigue and uncertain loyalties, and it plays out in her reticence. She's much more likely to communicate interest by watching intently from a distance than by approaching and interacting. Over time, if MC is able to help Nadia find the way to communicate with Chandra again, they'll likely become her confidante in her efforts to be a good familiar.
Inanna
The best way to describe her and Muriel is trauma bonded. (Which, given Muriel's past, is arguably the bond that lets him receive the support he needs from her best.) They're both loners, both uninterested in connection until it's proven to be worthwhile, and both deeply distrusting of other people's motives. Inanna is Muriel's breaking point twice. First, when he's expected to kill her in the Coliseum (how they met), and second, when she's horribly injured trying to protect the heart of the forest. Both of those moments with her push Muriel to recognize his priorities and actually act on them. As a result, they have a deep mutual respect for each other - and a stubborn emphasis on still being their own people (or wolf). Muriel refers to her as his friend more easily than as his familiar.
Inanna as a character, however, seems to hold onto some of the traits that Muriel has buried under his trauma. She's more adaptable than he is, quicker to accept change, and considerably more hopeful and optimistic. She's faster to act (often the one prompting Muriel to follow through, when he'd rather continue thinking), and she's nosier. Where Muriel analyzes and then quietly judges while respecting someone's decision, Inanna analyzes and then does her best to assist any kind of good change. Whether that's leading MC to Muriel when he's injured and would rather be left alone, or expressing the affection towards them that he's still trying to hide, she acts like a big sister. Independent, a bit of a bully, fiercely protective, and loyal beyond measurement. She doesn't need to bond with MC through Muriel, she can do that herself.
Pepi
Portia met Pepi on Mazelinka's ship, as she was on her way to hunt down her older brother and beat some sense into him. The two of them bonded instantly, and when the time came for Portia and Mazelinka to part ways, Pepi gave up the life of a ship cat to stay by Portia's side. Portia doesn't seem to be fully aware of Pepi being her familiar and sees her as more of an uncannily well-bonded pet. At least, until her own route, where Pepi learns how to speak. Up until that point Portia just seems to see Pepi more as an unusually intelligent cat that she likes to talk to. The two of them are each other's family, Pepi always ready to lend a helping paw with unruly birds, and Portia always happy to spoil her with snuggles and treats.
Pepi has Portia's optimism, love of mischief, and dauntless attitude. However, they differ somewhat in how they view themselves. While Portia struggles to see herself as the main character of her own story, often fading into the background in order to support someone else, Pepi is more than happy to take center stage. This cat can and will prioritize her own needs and preferences if she thinks nobody else is going to do it, and it often lands her in trouble (re: stealing your heartsong festival gift, seeking out nap places that give her access to forbidden fishies, etc). She's quick to make her own friendships, and when you and Portia start your new life together, she'll consider you one of her family as well. Thanks to her retained ability to speak (upright ending) you'll never have to go without a conversation partner again.
Mercedes & Melchior
Lucio, unfortunately, didn't realize these two were his familiars until after he'd met you. While a large part of his menagerie building was his search for a familiar, he failed to notice how those two in particular were so attached to them. Thankfully, they're never on their own given how closely they stick to each other. Their lack of a strongly developed magical connection with Lucio doesn't really stop them from being able to communicate. They vibe with him on a similar act-first-think-later wavelength, having such little interest in impulse control that it's impossible not to know what they want. All you know is that they're hellbent on accomplishing it and on getting out of whatever consequences they invite with a pair of large, shining puppy eyes.
Besides their impulsiveness and chaotic nature, Mercedes and Melchior share Lucio's tendency to live in the moment and focus on life's pleasures. However, they also have the emotional intelligence and undying loyalty all good dogs do. When Lucio was "dead" they spent three years guarding his wing and trying to find help for him, and when you join him in his search for answers, they'll remain with you and empathize with you regardless of the dangers involved (re: one of them going with Lucio to get help, the other staying next to you and whining when Valdemar has you strapped to a gurney). They instinctively track your emotional state and are often the reason Lucio notices how you're doing as quickly as he does. For all their bratty behavior, their doggy bodies are overflowing with love for the people they care about and nothing makes them happier than being with them. Don't mistake love for respect, though - they take orders from nobody.

Not sure if I'm supposed to keep this to just asking questions, but I needed to gush and I'm not good at ao3 comment etiquette.
I stumbled across TTB on complete accident after seeing this meme and picked it up just for the heck of it, and BOY WAS I IN FOR A HECK OF A RIDE(R. haha, get it?) OR WHAT? But I felt a little out of place and like an outsider because
I entered the Phandom for the first time exactly 31 days ago and my only knowledge comes from the >5 episodes I watched before I got bored and dropped it years ago (and promptly ejected from my brain), and then fanfiction I have been VIOLENTLY AND CONSISTANTLY CONSUMING LIKE A RABID VACUUM for the last month when I got interested in it again.
I had literally never heard of Alex Rider before this fic.
I like SCP, but all my knowledge comes from a podcast I listen to but they're going numerically and they've only gotten up to SCP-123, oh and and Markiplier.
THAT BEING SAID, I didn't need to worry because this is one of the best fics I've ever read. It has LITERALLY been keeping me up at night staring at the ceiling because I couldn't freaking stop thinking about it.
It stands out in a crowd, and out of the all MANY crossovers I've read in my time, TTB is one of, like, four fics that I can confidently say feel like their own original fiction, one cohesive world that's well blended, each media and character perfectly meshed and interacting with eachother and the lore like they always belonged together.
Deadass, I sent the fic to my sibling immediately after I finished it because I needed someone to scream about it to even though they understand even less of the source material than I, and we've decided to watch the Alex Rider show together and they told me "I'm going to be sad when we watch this and Danny isn't canon".
Fantastic work, massive kudos for making one of the best feels-like-it's-not-a-crossover crossovers. I was hooked by the first few paragraphs, so suspenseful, on the edge of my seat the entire time, and I lost so much sleep and sanity to this masterpiece. Y'all rock.
This ask is SO kind and amazing we all wanted to reply!!! Hope you don't mind!
KEI: omg!!!! this ask was such a delight to get. Ive read this over and over, youre so SO kind. I'm glad youve been able to enjoy TTB even not knowing things about AR or SCP. That was always our goal--we've even had people that know nothing about any of the fandoms read it and enjoy it! Dude. My MOM reads it and was upset when she caught up. I hope you don't still feel like an outsider bc we are SO happy youre here and clearly, anyone is welcome no matter where they're coming from as far as fandom knowledge goes <3 Thank you for reading and giving our niche as fuck crossover a shot !
KKACHI: i'm so glad chance brought you to our little corner of the internet! we're very proud we managed to conceive a seamless blend of the various canons. being sad that danny isn't canon is definitely an emotion we've also felt. please make sure you get enough sleep and we hope you enjoy the next update!!!
FIN: wahhhh!!! thank you so so much. i gotta ditto what the others have said - i'm so glad you can enjoy the fic no matter what. i'm also glad that it's inspired you to also check out some of this funky media very near and dear to our hearts (because of course it is because why else would we be this crazy if it wasn't)
also, i'm always honored and proud to write the kinda fics people lose sleep over KJDGFKJGS cuz god knows i love losing sleep over fics too <3

Welcome to the Basement:
I am both tired and a coward and have made a separate account to interact with the Marauders/Harry Potter fandom without having to deal with the TERFs every time I open tumblr. I must make it clear that I DO NOT support JKR in any way. I WILL NOT tolerate bigotry and WILL block you and tell others to block you too if I see any.
You can call me Spectr. My pronouns are she/her, and I'm aroace. I'm older than 18, but I'm sex repulsed so I basically won't ever reblog smut or NSFW. Minors are welcome, but I swear a lot, so maybe don't stick around if that makes you uncomfy.
This blog is for all my Harry Potter and Marauders headcanons, hot takes (and ice cold takes), art, fanfic if I ever get around to it, and general discussion. And yes, I consider the Harry Potter fandom and the Marauders fandom to be two wildly different beasts.
LINK TO MY MARAUDERS ERA SHIPNAME SPREADSHEET
More about me under the cut:
I'm a LOUD AND PROUD HUFFLEPUFF! BADGERS UNITE! Seriously, literally every test I have ever taken, Pottermore or otherwise, good and bad, has put me in Hufflepuff. I am so agressively Puff it's not even funny. My secondary house is Ravenclaw, and my Ilvermorny house is (probably) Pukwudgie.
I put waaaaayyyyy too much in my tags, seriously (siriusly. Heh). Check the tags of any post I put tags on, and you will find at least half of them are disorganized rambling.
I currently cannot pick a favorite marauder. I love them all too much. My favorite HP character is probably Ginny Weasley.
I am very much a book fan, not a movie fan. I've read all the books at least 5 times, but have read the Sorceror's Stone and The Prisoner of Azkaban more times than I can count. I have watched the first 3 movies all the way through once and have only seen the later movies in bits and pieces. I don't hate them, but they're not my favorites.
In case you didn't catch it in that last paragraph, I'm American, and nothing I write will be Britpicked. Sorry.
I love Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but I don't watch them on official platforms because JKR sucks. I don't have a favorite character; Newt, Tina, Queenie, and Jacob are all favorites.
While I loved Harry Potter as a kid and have a deep emotional attachment to it, it is a children's book with a LOT of worldbuilding and story issues. I like to use the world and magic as a sandbox to play in, less as a strict rule.
I don't really care too hard on ships. My aroace ass honestly says "the less you focus on it the better," but if you write it well, any dynamic can be good. That said, my usual likes are as follows:
Marauders: wolfstar (I'm basic trash), jily (again, basic trash), peter thinks everyone is hot but never gets to seriously date anyone r.i.p., marlene mckinnon/mary macdonald (although marlene has a fat crush on Dorcas Meadowes that never really goes away), Dorcas Meadowes/Pandora Lovegood, and optional Rosekiller but I get sad if we spend too much time with the Slytherins.
HP: Ron/Hermoine, Ginny/Harry if you like or Ginny/Luna if you don't, Perciver, dislike Tonks/Lupin but I don't care that much, and I really really don't give a shit about anyone else.
I hate muggle AUs with a burning passion (no shame if you like them, just not my cup of tea), but I do like it when we get to let the wizards use muggle tech and in general be more integrated into the muggle world.
Peter Pettigrew is a marauder and I will DIE on this hill. I will defend this slimy turncoat disaster rat man to the end of my life. Please fight me, I'm excited.
#intro post#pinned post#introduction#about my blog#fuck jkr#harry potter#marauders#marauders map#idk what tag we use for this guys I'll have to figure it out#hufflepuff#peter pettigrew#i love this guy#remus lupin#i'm really sorry to tag the characters guys but I need to find people#fandom blog#this'll get changed at least a couple times as I figure things out I'm sure#dead gay wizards

I do think that Wrightworth's popularity makes the AA fandom slightly uninhabitable. I'm by no means the first person to say this, but it sure is on my mind. This isn't to say I don't understand the appeal. I do. They have some incredibly strong moments and are an interesting, compelling couple. They are also both massive bitches, which is tremendously fun. My issue lies more so in how inescapable it is.
I think both Phoenix and Edgeworth deserve the grace to be interpreted apart from each other. They are individuals, with massive lives outside of the other. I think it's really insulting when some can't bear to think of the two apart, god forbid in other relationships, for more than five seconds before they have to make a joke about how they're the most important couple. We get it. Can people talk about something else, though?
Not only that, but I yearn for more varied and nuanced depictions of their relationship, if we're using them at all. My request will always be to make it fail. They're so compelling as a failed couple. I mean, god. You, on an obsessive whim, shape your life around chasing this guy. This guy you knew for a year in elementary school. You have other reasons, but always in your mind, there he is. This thing that's just out of reach, a goal to pursue. Then it happens. You get him, and you win, and it's everything you dreamed. And then it isn't. It just doesn't work. Plain and simple, cruel and real. You're not a good couple, and it crumbles, and every time you see him from that point forward, you have this pang of anger. This feeling of betrayal. You were not what I wanted you to be.
Then there's the inverse of that. The feelings that come from being a trophy, a conquest, an item. They both lack the emotional intelligence to talk about and navigate their own feelings, with Phoenix running head-on into everything with reckless abandon, refusing to question his own motives, and Miles having a tendency to detach himself from his issues as hard as he possibly can. It's such an interesting, flawed basis for a relationship. That's just my take, though. It's how I like them, and no one else will ever be beholden to my interpretations!
I get AA is escapism for a lot of people, and if that's how it works for you, total respect. But I crave variety, god I do. It's not about being right, it's not about being wrong, I just think there are so many ways to play with these characters and the fandom is stuck in a rut of samey-same content, both happy and sad. I'm not here to shame you for liking what you like, either. I'm pretty esoteric. I mean, Jesus. There's nothing less welcome in the AA fandom than a self shipper getting between Wrightworth. I don't mind doing my own thing, and I'm happier with fewer eyes on me anyway. If my stuff upsets you, that's okay.
That being said, I think I'd have a much easier time being around the fandom if people treated it less like there was a way to interpret the games correctly. The general fandom consensus is suffocating at times. Escapism can be dangerous if you don't know how to handle threats to your perception of a made-up world. I don't mean that to be condescending, I've just been there.
It was a breath of fresh air to leave the AA fandom for a while and focus on something built upon 18 years of fan-interpretations, with no right answers. Where every artist's version of them feels drastically different. It made me realize how silly this all is. It also made me remember how sad it was that when I joined the fandom and started trying to share my opinions on certain Phoen-ish ships, a popular AA blogger publicly ridiculed me and let their followers harass me. I just don't understand why the AA fandom compels people to feel like they have to be correct about everything. I've had to be very careful not to let feelings like that sour the whole franchise for me.
I myself have veered into that territory, and it's why I don't like writing this post. I don't want to be that person. I think everyone should be able to give each other space to do what makes them happy. If common fandom interpretations are what you like, then go with those. If you're like me, though, and you've ever been nervous to share headcanons and analyses that are unpopular, this is me telling you I think you're great. Say what you want, make what you want. It doesn't have to make sense. It doesn't have to be right. People might be mean about it, but you still deserve the right to self-actualization, even if no one else likes the things you do.
It's more important for you to post what you want than for others not to see it. If you're not hurting anyone, you can always rest assured that you've no reason to entertain their ire. From the bottom of my heart, just get silly with it.
#margins#ace attorney#phoenix wright#miles edgeworth#can you tell i saw a post that made me feel weird 😭#aa fans making fun of self shippers is like... not even upsetting on a personal level but just as a reminder of the state of the fandom#i'm so happy where i am but i know there are many others who are self conscious about going against the grain#it breaks my heart

Re: villain stans, I really do think you're conflating two groups of people and I feel the need to point it out because the art of haterism deserves pinpoint precision. The thing is that I would consider myself, broadly speaking, a villain stan and I also can't stand the people you're complaining about in that post because I think they've missed the point entirely. They've ruined the entire villain-loving ecosystem. I can't even facetiously say "they've never done anything wrong, ever, in their entire life" about characters that may as well be called Murders McWarCrimes, and whose death or comeuppance I am eagerly awaiting alongside everyone else in the fandom, because some of these idiots actually mean it when they say things like that -- and usually about some of the blandest, most disappointing villains I've seen in a long time. It's like passionately defending the storytelling equivalent of a slightly offensive shade of beige.
Look, some of us see the "time to boo and hiss" signs the narrative is putting up, but I'm not looking to experience every story like it's a children's pantomime. Maybe sometimes I want a wrestling match instead. I know the heel is going to lose. That's their job. It's what they're for. But if imagining that they might win is outside the realm of possibility... well, it's probably not a very good story. The stakes are not compelling. There's a reason that I would describe, say, c1 Briarwoods as delicious and c3 Delilah as overstaying her welcome. A good antagonist is a vital part of the story ecosystem and I enjoy seeing that role played well.
But I don't get to relish in characters being terrible people who do terrible things anymore, because now villain fandom is always overrun by people who read one Wikipedia article on moral relativism and want to have debates about what if Murder McWarCrimes is good actually? No! No, they are not! And if they were, that would be stupid and boring!
And so I reach across the metaphorical aisle to you that we may share in one of the hater's greatest delights: the knowledge that no one likes those idiots, and everyone wishes they would just shut up, even the people they think are on their side.
Hey anon,
I will admit usually when I get a long ask telling me I am conflating things I roll my eyes and wait for someone to say "i am feeling uncomfortable when we are not about me" but, the truth is, I very much was, and you are correct to the point that I think we are fully in agreement.
To be clear: I am pro people enjoying themselves in, as you say, the wrestling fan enjoying the heel way! I agree - a good story needs a villain who feels like a genuine threat. I can appreciate a villain for what they are and enjoy them very much as a character! I am personally unlikely in most cases to root for them but people who look at the story, analyze it, and say "this will be a fun guy to care about, even though I know the victory's probably going to the heroes, and I will be normal and not terribly resentful" are entirely valid and my post is not about them (except to say carry on as you were). It sounds like you're in this latter category and so: carry on as you were, you guys are great.
But I am definitely conflating two flavors of annoying villain stan:
the first is, as you very eloquently put it, the Person Who Read One Wikipedia Article About Moral Relativism and ooooooh what if Mr. Murder McWarcrimes was sufficiently sad about bad things in his life such that the murder and war crimes are correct actually.
The second is the person who does understand that they are looking at a villain who is a bad person but seems actively confused that like, a largely hopeful or heroic narrative will probably not end with Mr. Murder McWarcrimes stabbing everyone to death and then evil laughing against a red lightning-filled sky and seems mad that people are like "actually I like Kit the Heroic Hero". Actual Play D&D is not a place where you'll find these people because a TPK is technically possible regardless of the existing themes! But like...for example, I have to imagine theatergoers in 1983 who weren't idiots did not walk into Return of the Jedi like "oh man I think Darth Vader's gonna win the whole thing and he'll blow up everyone and institute more Space Fascism over the nuked out husk of Endor." Like, as you say, the villain needs to have some bite to be worth my time, but deep in my heart, there are stories where I know that victory is assured by the nature of the plot and it's much more about how it will be assured and what sacrifices will be made, and so it's weird when someone seems to be existing in a denial that that's the story and is like NO Mr. Murder McWarCrimes is NOT going to get a comeuppance and everyone is going to DIE at his hand.

ALL OF THIS LONGASS POST IS JUST MY OPINION. I REPEAT, JUST MY OPINION:
Remember when 90% of the fandom shipped Buck with Eddie, or if not, at least hc bi Buck and/or gay Eddie? We were basically a united queer front. And now that Buck's bi narrative is being told through the lens of a romantic connection to another dude some viewers are gravitating toward that romance. Which I personally don't see as them gravitating away from the depth or importance of Buddie's relationship, it's just that another romantic queer option has been presented and it's drawing some fans. Why not? And it's simply not possible for Bucktommy shippers to be "betraying Buddie" because it's a freakin' ship, not a religion. They've just developed a new ship preference for their own reasons, and that's fine. (or enjoying things as they are for the moment which is also fine).
And I think the reason Tommy/Lou/Bucktommy has thrived and become popular when previous love interests didn't goes deeper than "those girls are getting in the way of our ship." At least not directly. It's that even bringing in those women in was always a sad attempt at "romances" when the network knew damn well the bulk of fandom wanted to see a queer narrative for them with or without Buddie (yes Buddie was the driving interest, but still, it was a bigger issue than that or at least I thought so) The audience preference was clear so the only reason for FOX to keep insisting on female love interests with not a breath of the words gay or bisexual beyond "wink-nudge jokes" was to aggressively tell us THEY'RE CLOSE BROS, YOUR SHIP IS JUST CLOSE BROS FOREVER AND EVER SO START SHIPPING THEM WITH THEIR GIRLFRIENDS RIGHT NOW! OH YOU DON'T LIKE THOSE GIRLFRIENDS? OKAY, HOW ABOUT THESE ONES?
That shit immediately put a sour taste in my mouth. And FOX would have kept the cycle going forever, sending in a revolving door of girlfriends whilst we continued to insist on seeing the clearly more meaningful and important queer narrative onscreen. So while I do ship Buck + Happiness at the end of the day, queer rep was important enough to me that the only girlfriend I would have accepted or welcomed would have needed to be bisexual (or pan, or demi, something) to wake him up to his queer identity beyond just being another shallow (comphet) love interest.
Tommy being the character to wake Buck to his queer identity automatically makes him more meaningful and important in the narrative than Buck's girlfriends. If I was placing bets I'd still put my money on Buddie as the probable endgame, that's just me, but there are good reasons why previous love interests were pushed off the show by fan rejection (some of which had to do with problematic actresses *cough*honorary latina*cough*) and why Tommy/Lou/Bucktommy is being embraced by so many.
****caveat: I don't mean to imply that there weren't some buddie fans coming from a place of misogyny when ripping apart past female love interests, I just think for the most part that criticism was a wild oversimplification, painting our whole fandom with the same ugly brush in order to invalidate our very valid pro-buddie (at least or pro-queer Buck and/or Eddie) arguments.

Hi 🌸 I was wondering what Benji’s opinions about my ocs? and how might they interact?
and also I'm glad that you returned to bully fandom 🫶
Hi hi!!! Sorry for the late answer, busy day at school :9 Here's what I can say after briefly reading about your ocs (regardless of their relationships with canon characters)! OLIVER I personally don't think him and Benji would get along, mostly because of their bias towards each others' cliques ^_^;; Despite Benji having two prep friends, he doesn't want any more as they tend to affiliate more with the local bitch boy Derby who is an Asshole to him because of his strabismus MARY "Oh, that prep girl? Yeah she's cute, and surprisingly nice too, but I'm unsure if I should trust her, you know? Maybe I'm being too suspicious but I don't see anything good coming from talking to her....though I wouldn't mind if she started conversation with me just because. Girls are always welcome for a nice chat, haha" MARGARET Yeesh o,o He's for sure staying away from her, being the ugly duckling among the jocks....she's probably the one that spread the weirdest rumors about him in his head, nuh uh !!! JULIET She's lovely!! So lovely !! Benji is occasionally assigned to pickpocket the greasers for cig packs for his Jock buddies, so I'm unsure if they'd have interactions at all outside of that, but she's safe from his quick hands.....for now! Nonetheless, he thinks she's quite an attractive girl ^_^ KATE & FRED Benji would be friends with both of them, Kate especially! He's sad that she didn't continue with swimming, often tells her to call him if she ever changes her mind on joining the swim team >:P Also,,,,,bisexual buddies,,,,, and finally a girl that won't preach to him about skincare,,,myeheheh He's less interested in Fred, but he still sees him as one of his jock friendos :9

I read the post about being disheartened and taking down the public demo for 4.8, and I'm honestly so shocked at how the OFF fandom has changed. (And wondering what the heck the fangame community turned into)
I got into OFF pretty early in the 2010's, dropped out of the tags for a few years, and have been getting back into the fandom slowly these past few months (I've been meaning to get back into the fandom much, much sooner but got intimidated by how much has changed ;_; I do regret not coming back sooner). I remember being so excited for the fangames, ask blogs for OCs, and just stuff people made and being able to interact. It's sad to hear that it's changed into something dreary :(
I understand why you took down the public demo; I can't imagine how difficult it is to deal with the weight of rude or cruel comments nor the disheartening. But whenever you're ready to re-release the demo (and I don't mean to add pressure--that's not what I intend to do since mental health comes first), I'll definitely be there to play it!
I put the demo link back up when the OFF remaster on Steam and Switch was announced, don't worry. I still feel anxious about it all, but I'm hoping the resurgence will make a difference.
But yeah, I really do love this community and the amazing people I've met through it, but the ever growing hostility and negativity that I've seen quite a lot of people give towards a good chunk of fangames has been so saddening. I wish I knew what the heck happened that made people become so hateful and bitter towards us and the hard work we pour out to give everyone free content to play. And yes, people are allowed to not like certain ones, but this has gone far beyond, "This one isn't my favorite." It's just straight animosity.
Having been here for about 12 or so years now, I remember when people used to be so excited to play the next upcoming fangame that would pop out of nowhere and race to be the first to stream or record it. I really miss those days and hope that perhaps things will steadily return to them, even if not entirely. I want future devs to feel welcome and comfortable creating something out of the love they felt from OFF especially now that there will be new lore added to it to expand upon. I know, even though I probably won't be as active once mine is done, I will still support them and lend a helping hand as I always do to help them get started if I am able.
If you do end up playing ONE, let me know what you think! I can also give you some of my own personal recommendations of fangames to play, too!
