SaL anon here friend, hoping you had a long, relaxing, holiday weekend!! Not a big Thanksgiving person myself, but I do like sleeping in. So tell me, should i start watching The Rookie, since it's a long wait after the mid season finale. Speaking of which, I'm mentally preparing for tomorrow, by which I mean bracing myself for some nonsense cliffhanger since they've literally set nothing up for any of the characters. Maybe the previews will change my mind, at least there's an actual fire??
Hello friend! We still had some of my mom's family in town from the wedding so that made Thanksgiving nice. I'm a big fan of food (especially the kind that results in leftovers), and lazy days relaxing and being cozy so that's always nice. We had my niece again though for almost a week and whooo boy does she tire me out. I also cannot get rid of this cough so I tried to do as little as possible, and mostly binged tv while working on a new crochet craft my office mate requested for a Christmas gift for her daughter and watching my room fall even further into disarray and disaster. We also tore out our living room carpet. Needless to say I do not feel rested and ready to go back into the office tomorrow! But I did get to have several nights of staying up late and sleeping in so that's always a plus for my night person brain.
As for The Rookie, it's good! Being cop-centric it's naturally a lot of copaganda, and a lot more "finding bad people doing bad things and chasing them down" and less of the "helpful" side of first responding we see with 911, but it does have a more hopeful bent than I was expecting, and quite a few moments of "they're not bad people just regular people who made a bad choice/had bad options". I was also prepared for Owen Strand levels of "main character screentime/storylines in what should be an ensemble show" syndrome with Nathan Fillion's character but it hasn't been too bad so far. Lots of female characters and so far I've enjoyed all of them. I'm bored with Tim's current LI because I'm already on the Lucy/Tim bandwagon, but I like the character and think she's interesting and have enjoyed her scenes (QUITE refreshing), and Nolan's LI storylines are also boring to me personally like Owen's were because I just find his love life to be the least interesting thing about him and prefer his screentime when it's looped in with the police stuff because it includes more of the main characters that way. That being said, I did like his LI's so far (almost done with season 2) and they were both involved enough in the things close to his job that they were able to be involved in main storylines going on. It's been enjoyable so far! It definitely hasn't struck the same chord as early 911 did since it's naturally a little darker in nature just due to the focus of the job (being called for crimes/solving crimes vs being called for rescue), and I haven't bonded to any of the characters as much as I did with the firefam, but I do really like all of the ensemble characters. Also it's been nice seeing threads being teased and storylines leading places and trauma being addressed right away instead of being forgotten about immediately and *maybe* cropping up later if we're lucky.
Speaking of all that mess, it's interesting that from what I can see, most of the buzz around 911 right now is about what is coming in the spring. Since the show has close out Hen's arc, and we know Buck's is dragging out for awhile and Madney's stuff has happened mostly off screen or been cut entirely, what are we even looking forward to for the finale? I said in the tags on another post that at least with s5 we were hoping for a Chim and/or Maddie cameo or at least phone conversation we got to see one side of (robbed), the BT breakup (ROBBED), and Eddie's breakdown that had been teased all season (partially robbed but at least the cliffhanger didn't come out of nowhere). But this season? Pretty much ANYTHING is going to feel like it came out of nowhere unless it's the start of the Buck breakdown because nothing else has been happening consistently enough to make sense. And even a Buck breakdown is a little out of the blue since he's been excited about the sperm donor thing since his talk with Hen and the firefam finding out was treated as a joke and there was zero follow-up in 6x08, and zero follow up on the "couch" thing OR Lev's death since those happened at the start of the season. Finding an issue with his sperm or issues with the couple COULD be something but given that it looks like the spring will have an opening disaster it's likely there won't be tons of follow-up until 6x12 and if we're lucky and get hurt Buck in the spring opening, then things *should* be about that and not the follow-up on the sperm thing anyway soooo 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
There's just like....NO direction for this season. Things are happening but having no impact, even when the potential for impact is RIGHT THERE, and instead of things being sprinkled into every episode it's like, ONE episode about a thing and then nothing for weeks. Hen's arc this season has been good, but with SEVEN main characters, you can't have only ONE of them having a clear direction their story is moving across NINE episodes. I guess we'll see tomorrow but on the bright side, as you said at least there's an actual fire AND we get the firefam in yellow wildfire turnouts with the added bonus of no Lone Star filter! Silver lining.

Can we have some facts about the ROs, dear author ? I'm very much looking forward to fix D, bad girls are my kryptonite
C LACROIX
C is an absolute unit at chess. if it wasn’t for them wanting to go into the business industry, they would’ve definitely clinched the title of grandmaster.
they’re also very good at playing violin and have been taking private lessons since they were nine.
they have a habit of taking long, solitary walks late at night to clear their mind.
they have an aston martin vantage and a porsche 911 carrera 4s which were a gift from grandpa lacroix before his death.
aside from english, they can speak french, latin, and italian.
their signature scent is a blend of sandalwood and jasmine.
they have a small, discreet tattoo of a latin phrase (“veni, vidi, vici”) on their ribcage.
C is particularly fond of designer clothes and have a vast collection, each custom-made to fit perfectly.
they find idle chatter to be an utter waste of time and will often steer conversations towards more intellectually stimulating topics.
C also had a very soft spot for pets, particularly dogs. they also secretly donate to many of the nation’s animal shelters, though you’ll never find them telling that to anyone.
they have undiagnosed OCD.
V NÆSHOLM
they are a twin. no one knows what exactly happened to their sister in the orphanage.
they’re a big fan of obscure literary texts, particularly those of nordic origins.
V also enjoys woodworking, a skill passed down from their orphanage days where they’d try to make small, wooden toys for some extra pocket money.
though they don’t attend church all that often, they always pray before bed and eating.
V wears a unique, earthy fragrance with notes of cedarwood, pine, and a hint of sea salt.
in addition to danish, ancient greek, nordic runes, and english, they’ve also picked up on some patois thanks to their adoptive mother.
V is deeply connected to nature and prefers spending time outdoors whenever possible. hiking, camping, and stargazing are some of their favorite activities.
autumn is V’s favorite season because the crisp air, the changing leaves, and the melancholy atmosphere makes them feel creatively inspired.
V can read tarot cards, a skill they picked up from their mother who liked doing it in her free time.
they absolutely loathe alcohol and steers absolutely clear of its presence if they can help it. they have no problem with other people drinking it tho.
they have claustrophobia.
W OSTENDORF
W is an avid birdwatcher and would often accompany their uncle to do it whenever they could. they can identify dozens of species by sight and sound and often spend early mornings in parks or nature reserves, binoculars in hand.
despite their strained relationship with their parents, W inherited a natural talent for photography and videography from their father.
W’s favorite book is “the catcher in the rye”, mostly because sometimes they can see a reflection of themself in holden caulfield.
W has a soft spot for cheesy 90s and early 2000s romcoms. they find comfort in the predictable plots and over-the-top acting, often watching them late at night when they can’t sleep.
their signature scent is vetiver, citrus, and bergamot.
they still wear MC’s worn down friendship bracelet from almost a decade ago.
W prefers to walk or bike wherever they go, finding the process therapeutic.
they’ve donated a large portion of their trust fund to homeless youth shelters, only keeping enough to get through university comfortably until they get a decent job.
they love playing the piano, something which their aunt taught them. however, they prefer modern pieces to classical ones.
their favourite directors of all time are wes anderson and sofia coppola.
they’re a chronic insomniac.
D DIACONU
D has a hidden talent for sketching. while they don’t talk about it much, their notebooks are filled with doodles and sketches, often of people they meet/know or abstract designs that reflect their current mood.
they’re nicknamed “rook” by their friends and bandmates. they also only know three languages: romanian, french, and english.
their indie band’s name is “the vignettes”, and the genre they play contains elements of alternative rock, grunge, and even folk sometimes. they’re the frontman, as well as a guitarist of the five-piece.
they’re known to get into long, intense conversations about the meaning of life, the universe, and everything—usually at 3 a.m., after everyone else has passed out. nobody seems to want to deal with this aside from C.
nirvana and the cure are on constant rotation on their playlist. their favourite guitar, valentine, was personally signed by kurt cobain and is their most prized possession.
their signature scent is a mixture of cinnamon, expensive marlboro, amber, and a hint of leather.
they love spicy food, mexican and indian cuisines being their favourite. give them a lifetime supply of chicken vindaloo and birria tacos and they’re set forever.
D is considered an adrenaline junkie and sometimes participates in extreme sports like parkour, bungee jumping, and sky diving.
they have a well-maintained 1969 AMC AMX/3, but rather prefer riding their MC ducati panigale v4.
they have a growing collection of tattoos, each one marking a significant (or significantly hazy) memory from their escapades. the most prominent one is a serpent wrapped around their collarbones.
it’s rare to find them in parties without the presence of any type of drugs. they’re not a full-blown addict, but also not too far from it.
M WHITLOCK-SINGH
aside from english, M speaks nine more languages fluently—hindi, french, italian, german, mandarin, russian, sanskrit, arabic, spanish, and latin.
they are proficient in several musical instruments, including the piano, violin, and guitar, often performing at private gatherings and charity events.
their personal library contains rare and first-edition books on any genre you can possibly imagine.
M has a keen eye for art and collects pieces from renowned and emerging artists, often curating exhibitions for charity.
they also have a very encyclopaedic knowledge of european and south asian history, often recalling the time period and details of the events.
they have travelled to more than 50 countries till date, accompanying their parents on many of their philanthropic missions.
their signature scent is a fancy blend of myrrh and frankincense, accented with touches of cypress and roses.
M has been interested in the existence of the occult and magic since they heard of stories involving them by their grandmother’s side.
despite being a famous royal figure, M has almost zero social media presence and greatly dislikes being filmed in public or having their private life probed at.
they are known to be the queen of england’s favourite grandchild.
M enjoys cooking and is particularly skilled at preparing elaborate south asian and mediterranean dishes.

Weekly Recap | March 11th-17th 2024
Tumblr media
That premiere guys!!!!! Was so good!!!!! I'm so excited to be FINALLY be a part of the fandom while the show is actually airing! 😃 Can't wait to read all the amazing fics that are gonna be spawned from season 7!
Speaking of that, I would like to encourage everyone to use the relevant Ao3 tags when writing fics based on S7 content! Not everyone can watch the episodes as they air, so tags are really essential for people who don't want to get spoiled! (I could even make a separate post about it? a sort-of "how to tag" post?). In case you want to block some tumblr tags, my main tags for S7 are #911 season 7, #911 on abc, or #911 spoilers.
(Posting this one day early cause I don't feel like waiting until tomorrow! Enjoy! 😆)
Complete
i find peace in your smile by goforeddie/@iltrpls (A/B/O AU | 1K | General): They’ve been courting for a few months now. It’s agonizingly slow, but it’s still the best time they’ve ever had. You might think that after six years of walking on eggshells around each other, half a decade of “will-they-won’t-they” they wouldn’t be taking such a slow time with courting, but it's precisely everything that they’ve been through that makes them appreciate things a little better.
Birthday Flowers by Tizniz/ @tizniz (Pre-Buddie | 2K | General): OR: Buck gets Eddie flowers for his birthday.
🔥 if i need to rearrange my particles — i will for you. by dylaesthetics (Post-S6, Identity Porn | 45K | Teen): OR Buck joins a support app for first responders and matches with a firefighter who has PTSD and a kid who likes giraffes, apparently.
Lime Jell-O by rainbow_nerds/ @rainbow-nerdss (S7E01: Abandon 'Ships | 3K | Teen): Eddie Diaz didn't panic. Or, well... Maybe he did. Sometimes. But he was working on it.
take the bed warmed by the body by lecornergirl/ @clusterbuck (Getting Together | 2K | Teen): It’s three parts bravado and one part reminder. He thinks about it, sometimes, his first shift at the 118—he doesn’t think either of them quite knew how much they’d meant it when they’d promised to have each other’s backs. He definitely hadn’t known, then, that he’d wake up one day and wonder why Buck isn’t in his bed. Because that’s what’s missing. He has a vague memory of falling asleep with his head resting against Buck’s shoulder, their legs tangled together.
Taken Space by Wildgirl93/ @wildlife4life (S7E01 Coda | 1K | General): Eddie and Marisol talk about the space that has already been taken.
Feel Like I Landed On The Moon by Tizniz/ @tizniz (Canon Divergent | 1K | General): OR: Eddie is pining for Buck while in Texas.
Fractals from the Lightning Bolt by letmetellyouaboutmyfeels/ @letmetellyouaboutmyfeels (One Shots Collection | 98K | Not Rated): A collection of oneshots, some originally posted on tumblr. Each chapter is individually rated.
53. A Dream You've Had Before (Explicit) 54. We're Definitely All Sluts Here (Explicit)
if you love someone by chronicallystendan (Pre-Buddie | 1K | General): Buck and Eddie both internally panic when a song comes on the radio that seems to be talking directly to them.
adventures of firehose and eightpack by brewrosemilk/ @gayhoediaz (Social Media fic | 1,5K | Mature): Or: Eddie stumbles upon Buck's old twitter account.
Two, Three Times in a Row by Leslie_Knope (PWP | 6K | Explicit): “We could’ve gone again.” Eddie snorts. “I’m old. You expect me to get it up twice?” “Yes,” Buck says, like it’s a given, like duh. “I could get you to do it right now.” The entire world pauses, and Eddie actually feels it, the bolt of arousal slinking down his spine all the way to his toes. He wets his lips. “Right now?”
WIP
🔥 miracles under your sighs and moans by napricot (Sex Pollen, PWP | 1/2 | 13K | Explicit): When Eddie gets exposed to an experimental aphrodisiac on a call, he realizes there’s only one person he trusts to help him get through it: Buck.
🔥 because we'll all arrive in heaven alive by callmenewbie/ @puppyboybuckley (Post-S6, Disaster Fic | 9/10 | 63K | Explicit): During a search and rescue, Eddie disappears without a trace, leaving Buck to grapple with the sudden possibility of a life without him.

Hey, Justine! Did you see the new article?

Tumblr media
I did. I think things are looking very good for us. Tim has had every opportunity to remove or distance Eddie from Buck's story and he's not. B*mmy's seem to think that's what's happening here but it isn't. When characters and their storylines are being distanced they don't get talked about like this. And this isn't just the journalists inferring this is Tim's own words.
Tim could have distanced Buck and Eddie in s7. If Buddie wasn't happening he could and should have made 704 about Buck and T*mmy and not really included Eddie at all. But really that episode was very loudly about Buck's feelings for Eddie.
You could make the argument that Tim wanted to wait and see what the audience response was going to be to T*mmy before he made any major changes. Which he had plenty of time to do that leading up to the final two eps of s7 considering T*mmy wasn't in eps 707 and 708. 709 and 710 also went through significant rewrites before filming so there was definitely time for Tim to put more focus on B/T but he didn't. He didn't even have T*mmy at the hospital with Buck and that wouldn't have required taking time away from the other characters at all, just like a shot of him there sitting with Buck.
Consistently since B/T became a thing Tim has told us in every way imaginable that Buddie is more important and that Buddie (canon) is the goal. Even think back to how Buddie was handled vs B/T at the bachelor party. B*mmy's make all these excuses for what happened there but the main thing is Tim decided he wanted Buck and Eddie dressing up in a couple's custom. He wanted Eddie to be the one there spending the whole night with Buck not T*mmy. He easily could have had T*mmy there instead of Eddie or had it be the three of them there but he didn't.
You can tell this pattern is clearly going to continue when you read what Tim is saying about s8. We already know T*mmy is just stepping stone to Buddie, Lou himself said as much in one of his early cameos. Tim is likely going to use T*mmy for dramatic tension while Eddie has his feelings realization about Buck.
I suspected this was where Tim would go with things this season I just wasn't sure if he was going to bring Lou back after the all the drama him and his fans caused. I'm assuming he got told to stop interacting with his psycho fan base though because we now know he's coming back yet he's not been communicating with his fans at all. He likely was contracted to come back for a few eps with the stipulation he can't cause any more problems.
T*mmy will likely be around for a few eps while Eddie's storyline is getting more of the focus. Hopefully we'll get some jealous and pinning Eddie cause that would just be delicious. I don't see T*mmy lasting beyond mid season if even that. I know a lot of people aren't happy about him coming back and I'm right there with you but also as someone who has been waiting and hoping for Buddie to happen for years I've never seen it so within our grasp. This feels like it will be our year.
Anyway hope you don't mind my long ramble. Thanks for messaging me. ❤️

Let's talk about Christopher Diaz in fanfic
I want to preface this by saying I'm pretty new to the fandom. I joined a few months or so before season 7 started dropping. So I'm probably not the best source for information when it comes to the show, but I definitely wanted to throw my hat into the ring. I'm aware that Chris is aging during the course of the show, and that he was much younger when he was first introduced, but it seems to me that a lot of fanfic writers and/or people in this fandom kinda struggle to realistically write and/or portray accurate representation of a preteen/early teenager as Chris is now.
I have absolutely no idea if maybe it's some kinda weird way of seemingly (kinda horribly) trying to portray disability, or maybe people in the 911 fandom just do not spend time around pre-teens, but as someone who does spend a lot of time with a pre-teen (specifically my 12 y/o brother) I definitely figured I could give some insight into this topic.
Now I do want to clarify before I begin, that in no way shape or form am I talking about the disabled portion of Chris' experience. I don't have the knowledge or firsthand experience or anything like that to even begin to try and be a voice on that topic, and if anyone else could give insight into that portion of Chris' experience, I welcome it gladly. Especially because it's an integral part of him and introduces some experiences that other pre-teens won't have to deal with which can change how Chris reacts/deals with situations.
What I can accurately talk about though is the things I've noticed in my brother as he goes through this phase of his life. I can also compare his experiences to what I remember from when I was his age, and I'm noticing he's going through certain things that I went through too. I know everyone is different, but hopefully this insight can help some people begin to understand Chris as he is now.
Now, on top of all the slow but noticeable bodily changes, these little sass masters are emotionally volatile. As in, the littlest things seem to be the end of the world. Especially if he's (my brother) is overtired. He tends to have tunnel vision, and he wants things to go his way. If it doesn't immediately go as planned, he tends to get very very frustrated. When that happens, he tends to blow up then go into his room until he's calmed down. After he's calm, then productive conversation can happen.
Kids Chris' age also tend to enjoy video games (like Roblox, or console games) more than they do coloring or legos or any physical toy. Not saying my brother has stopped playing with them all together, but it's definitely slowed down. If he were to play with legos, it'd more likely be a complicated lego set. Or complicated arts and crafts. His most recent projects being origami swords and origami paper dragons. Like, please don't forget that Chris is a good artist and is capable of drawing accurate human hearts.
I've also noticed that kids will go through a collecting phase. They'll collect anything and everything and it'll be the weirdest shit you could never predict. My brother when he was a bit younger literally stole every single sock in the house for his "sock collection" and stuffed an entire drawer full of them. Now he's moved on to collecting golf balls.
And, whether we like it or not, these kids are on the internet. My brother at least is very very influenced by online trends. Half the things he's interested in he saw on social media first. But that means that these kids have a rich meme culture. They have their own in jokes and concepts, same as we did growing up. And sure, some of the jokes are the same. I mean heck, my brother won't shut up with the "your mom" jokes, but they also have things like skibbidy toilet, chippi chippi choppa choppa, and other memes. (I have a list of current tween memes in my notes, but that can be a separate post if people truly want it)
Like it's such a missed funny opportunity! To have Chris reference current memes or current sayings like "gyot, what the sigma, and womp womp," and just having every single adult within the immediate vicinity be confused as fuck, and of course the kids won't explain, because why would they. It's funny to them that the adults are confused. Which also pairs with the amount of sass contained in their tiny orifices. Their come backs are insane and not to be trifled with. My brother has burned me so many times and so well that for all intents and purposes I should be a pile of ash on floor, honestly and truly.
Now, when it comes to romance, I have no idea when that changes. I think Chris is around 14 in the most recent season? And he's gone through a little heartbreaker phase, but currently, my brother at 12 is absolutely disgusted by romance. I myself am demisexual so I'm not a good reference for that, and can't really comment on when people start feeling attraction for others. But considering it's being portrayed in the show, I think it could be something to lean into as well.
All of this to say, Chris won't be this picture perfect baby all of the time. He'll get angry, frustrated, sad. Give people the silent treatment. He'll be weird and strange and say stupid shit. He'll also probably occasionally get confused over certain sayings he's never heard before. (E.g similes commonly used in writing) He'll try to get out of chores, and homework, and he'll whine and complain. His body is changing, he's probably experiencing growing pains, and he's probably starting to discover more adult things. But he'll also have his moments of insightfulness and humor. He's a little adult! And he should be allowed to be portrayed that way! Let Chris be a multidimensional character! It's what he deserves! And just to make it clear, this goes for every pre-teen on 911. I've just noticed the infantilisation of Chris a lot more than say Denny.
Please let me know your thoughts on this matter! I'd love to hear them! Have a wonderful day!

Beginnings Week Tag Game
Thank you for tagging me @lonestar-s5countdown @she-walked-away @herefortarlos @strandnreyes @tellmegoodbye @the-126-family and @lemonlyman-dotcom!
(1) Which 911 Lone Star season premiere is your favorite?
If I'm going with the premiere as in the single first episode of the season, I have to go with the pilot. The ice storm arc as a whole would be the winner if I could include 4 episodes, but if it's single episode, 1x01 beats 3x01 for me. It's such an excellent introduction to the characters and really sets the tone for the show so well.
(2) Which character do you think had the best introduction or first scene in the show?
The one that had the biggest impact on me the first time through was TK. He's the character I most instantly fell in love with. We see him go through so much right away and, even without knowing anything about him, I was drawn in and started caring about him right away. Just in that first episode, we get to see his beautiful relationship with his father, his struggle with addiction, his goodness and how much he cares, as well as the moment he meets his soulmate!
Tumblr media
(3) What is your favorite moment of 1x01?
There are lots of really great moments in 1x01! One of my favorites is definitely the montage of putting the crew together. This show always has such great montages and this first one is no exception. However, if I have to choose only one favorite moment, I think it would be Carlos asking TK to dance at the honky tonk. It's their beginning!
Tumblr media
(4) When did you first start watching Lone Star and how did you find out about it?
In early February 2022, I started seeing Push gifs on tumblr, specifically TK waking up from his coma. I was intrigued, so one day I decided to give the show a try, despite the fact that I assumed a firefighter show wouldn't really be my thing. However, I started to fall in love with the characters right away and I experienced a wide range of emotions, from laughing at the ridiculousness of the baby in the tree rescue to tearing up at Judd's PTSD moment. I proceeded to catch up through 3x06 over the next week, just in time to watch 3x07 as it aired. When that episode ended, I thought, "this show could consume me." AND IT DID. Not a single day has passed since then without this show and Tarlos on my mind.
(5) What is one wish you have for the season 5 premiere?
I think I have the same wish that many others do: at least one happy husbands moment for TK and Carlos before the drama gets going. I know there's going to be drama and tension for these two and I'm fine with that. I welcome it! I can't wait to see what's in store for them! But I've also been waiting SIXTEEN MONTHS to see these two as husbands, so I hope we'll get at least a glimpse of happy husbands in love before the chaos begins.

So I have been digging around for videos and interviews of Ryan before he started on 911. Cause he started the show mere months after beginning his relationship with his now ex. The reason for my digging was partially thanks to eddies hole on Tik Tok pointing out his vast difference in demeanor, speech pattern, and voice from before 911 to now. And from what I gather, it is from his children's mother and the relationship they had. He was so much more relaxed, soft, sweet, and open to his femininity before her. She seems she wanted the stereotypical Latino man (gruff, super macho, super fit, and into "manly" hobbies). He talked deeper and more rougher. Was not showing his sassy side. And doing what she wanted. Now that he has left that relationship he's okay to act how he wants and do what he truly enjoys. He's a soft spoken artist with a knack for comedy and good with his hands in the ring. Also low-key feel like she baby trapped him since their son was born in January of 2019 so she had to have gotten pregnant right away.
Ok so NOW we're talking...
This is actually something I have discussed with my friends in private multiple times...
I've known Ryan for a long time now. I watched the step up movies when they came out and I used to watch Ryan's interviews back in the day so I remember how he used to be. One can say that over the years that he had changed because he was getting older but I know things changed the moment he met her because even in the very early days of 911 before he met her he was the very same guy he was in those older interviews and like you said the way he used to speak and articulate and express himself used to be VERY different... He even used to dress different as well. The longer he was with her, the different he became. Now that she's gone he seems to have gone back to how he used to be (which I'm very glad to see)
BUT Ryan is also the type of guy that kind of adapts himself to the person he's with and you can tell by his 2 latest interviews
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's like he morphs into the style he's feeling at the moment so it's not 100% because of her... although he seems to embrace his sensitive side quite more now
As for the other thing... honestly I don't want to accuse anyone of anything BUT the timing seems quite suspicious. Like both times when there were rumors of separation she was suddenly pregnant. It could definitely be a coincidence but Idk...

"You didn't have to wait up"
steady steady
911 on Fox | Buddie | 970 Words | Canon Compliant, 6x12 Coda No this is not the five sentence it was supposed to be, it got a little out of control so ahh merry early christmas I guess xx
Read on AO3
"You didn't have to wait up." Buck says as he closes the front door behind him and toes off his shoes in the pale light of the hallway lamp.
"I know," Eddie says from the couch. He's got a mug of half cold camomile tea in his hands and a cushion in his lap as he leans back against the arm of the couch. He draws his knees up to his chest as Buck perches on the couch next to him. He looks tired but more relaxed than he did before he left earlier that afternoon. "But I wanted to make sure you got in alright."
"I have a key." Buck's mouth quirks at the corner and his eyes sparkle, and Eddie's traitorous heart skips a beat.
"Not what I meant." He says.
Buck reaches for the blanket in the basket next to the couch and offers Eddie on end of it as he draps it over his own knees. Eddie offers he his mug and Buck chuckles before accepting it and drinking what it left of Eddie's tea.
"I could have made my own."
"I know, but you just sat down."
Buck hums in response and relaxes back against the back of the couch, Eddie bravely tucks his toes under Buck's thigh and reveales in Buck touch as his hand clasps around Eddie's shin through the blanket, the now empty mug abandoned on the coffee table.
"How was Maddie?" Eddie asks quietly.
Buck's hand rubs up and down his shin and Eddie's not sure if he realizes he's doing it, the repeative motion most likely a subconscious, self soothing action. "Good. We talked, she meant well, with all the visitors and the-the meals. I guess I hadn't really thought about-. I don't know."
His hand stops and slides down onto the blanket.
"I'm sorry, by the way." Buck says and when Eddie raises a brow at him he shrugs. "For dying I guess."
Eddie is surprised by the laugh that bubbles out of him, both humorous and synical. "Wasn't your fault."
"I know but-."
""We've been here before, Buck." Eddie reaches for his hand and plays with Buck's fingers instead of meeting his gaze. "You can't control the weather. I'm just glad you're okay."
Buck relaxes and his fingers fold around Eddie's, just holding. "Me too."
They're quiet for a while, letting the soft yellow light of the hallway bulb drap over them and listening to the branches of the orange tree scratch against the window pane.
"I haven't been sleeping much." Buck whispers and Eddie squeezes his hand, prompting him to continue when he's ready. "Every time I wake up I'm scared I'm back in that place, in the dream."
Eddie runs his thumb along the bumps of Buck's knuckles.
"I wasn't scared like that today."
"What do you mean?"
"When I came here today I really wasn't planning on taking a nap on your couch but when I woke up-." Buck pulls his hand away and rubs both if his palms up his face and Eddie watching his chest expand and his shoulders rise as he takes in a deep breath. "I knew exactly where I was when I woke up, and I wasn't scared. I haven't felt like that since I got out of the hospital."
Eddie might have to go back to the cardiologist because something is definitely wrong with his heart, the way it stutters irregularly. Something in him blooms at the thought of his home being a safe place to Buck.
"You can stay here," Eddie says before he can stop himself. "For as long as you need."
Buck's smile is small and quiet. "Thanks, Eddie. I wouldn't want to hang about like a bad smell but I appreciate the offer."
"You smell just fine to me." Eddie jokes even as he feels his cheek turn pink. " I mean it Buck, you're always welcome here."
"I like being here." Buck admits quietly.
Eddie cups a hand around the ball of Buck's shoulder and squeezes until Buck looks up at him. "I like it when you're here, too."
It's Buck's turn to blush as he ducks his head bashfully and fists his hands in the blanket. Eddie can see him biting the inside of his cheek before he asks, "Can I stay here tonight?"
Eddie reaches for him with both hands. "Come here."
It takes a moment for Buck to understand what he means but eventually he leans to the side and then rotates until he is lent against Eddie's chest, curled into his side with his head on Eddie's shoulder, the both of them tucked closely together under their shared blanket.
At first, Buck is stiff and awkward with long limbs and sharp joints digging into all the softest parts of Eddie but as Eddie runs his hand up Buck's spin and slides down to lay almost flat on the couch, his head resting on the armrest, Buck relaxes into him and they slot into place like puzzle pieces.
"Get some rest, okay." Eddie says. "I'll be here when you wake up."
"Promise?" Buck whispers and his lips brush against Eddie's collarbone sending a shiver skittering across his skin, leaving goosebumps in it's wake.
"Always."
Buck's hand clutches at the fabric of Eddie's t-shirt and Eddie turns his nose into his curls. In the morning they'll regret not moving to a real bed, each of them too long, too broad and on the wrong side of thirty to be sleeping together on a couch through the night. But there's a promise to having Buck held tightly in the circle of his arms, his heartbeat tapping out a rhythm against Eddie's side. Steady, sure, and alive.
The blanket is warm and the slow puffs of Buck's breath against his skin lull Eddie to sleep.
Send me the first sentence of a fic and I will write the next five-ish (or a whole fic probably)

catching up!! watching 911 season 7 episode 1!! let's goooo
the first three minutes of this episode are like "athena watched a cruise ship disaster on tv and it affected her for life. here's a cruise ship disaster we're putting on your tv (hehehe)."
i briefly stop watching mayday/air crash investigation episodes, only to STILL see a plane crash into a house. let's get greg feith and his excellent colorful ties in here asap
Tumblr media
okay not actually technically relevant but. i googled "greg feith ties" and found this:
Tumblr media
and the answer is no!! shut up!!
anyway. bi buck and his bi saw! (i may be too early.)
Tumblr media
ahhh, the face i've already seen a dozen times:
Tumblr media
buck was missed. <3
god, i love chimney. presumably this honeymoon life plan of his isn't going to work out perfectly smoothly, but it's adorable.
athena's dress is great, but this is a prime Just Talk To Bobby Please sort of worry she's having. i mean, literally, talk to him, and she'll probably find they do have things to talk about.
THREE DATES A WEEK. yeah, there we go (affectionate), that's gonna be a mess. very sweet, very stupid!
a spreadshEET. i love themmm. still very stupid though!!
"except only in one case is there underlying sexual tension [sprays using phallic looking object at hip height]" is definitely a little insane, you were all correct. also EXTREMELY a conversation that feels like they knew what they were doing, considering i now know where this is going
eddie is a nester! he nests!
christopher doesn't get this from eddie, implying he gets it from buck somehow. feelingssss.
god. buck taking save the trees a bit too figuratively:
Tumblr media
throwing the champagne glasses to the side while you're in the pool is i guess a cool carefree no fucks given thing to do in theory, but it's going to be so much less cool and carefree when you step in the glass while walking around barefoot later. i mean, on top of the waste of a perfectly good glass
i HAD seen the angsty mom-left-us (and eddie is listening in) part of the buck&chris conversation, but not the entire part before it with buck very earnestly trying to find his way through this parenting talk eddie enlisted him for, and it's great, i love it.
"i feel like you're trying to avoid me." < thank you for Saying The Thing, bobby.
lola is resting..... this man has blood behind his ear...... this is 911...... he killed lola?
Tumblr media
"i don't think we're gonna see much of lola any time soon." oh, she's VERY dead. and/or locked in their cabin, which would potentially be good and dramatic when the ship starts sinking
he made a list!! love you, bobby
athena going full "norman peterson murdered his wife!!!" and bobby being very convinced that he didn't and athena is making things up to avoid him is a) finally a funny turn for this subplot and b) even funnier in light of bobby's behavior in the rear window episode.
"... o-or he murdered his wife." i love when this show does comedy and the timing is just right. thank you, peter krause
one of the things about this show that i still think was a terrible writing choice is the way they killed shannon, so i'm glad they're at least dealing with the impact all of the parental shuffling and absence had on christopher. it's great that they brought the actress back for that one moment.
"did i read the spreadsheet wrong?", reminding me of the spreadsheet, and "did something else happen on a call?", meaning maddie immediately knows what would have changed chimney's mind again - maddie and chimney are flawless, no notes.
THEY took lola!! so that's how the ship activity manager or whatever that guy with the weird vibe's job is will turn out to be evil and/or in evil cahoots with lola
dongle. i haven't heard that word in forever. didn't know they were being used for bitcoin
oh, 911. just a ship in a weather-related emergency isn't enough, we also need terrorists holding everyone hostage. at times i could almost start to think i was watching h50

Minneapolis
A few days ago, Luke my middle Son, suggested a documentary he had watched.
Its on Youtube... runs about 1 hour 40 minutes if interested. Titled "the Fall of Minneapolis".
It affected him. He couldn't really decide what to think of it, or how it affected him but it did.
This is awesome in my opinion, as any movie/documentary, sci fi, murder, drama.... if it affects you some way, it did its job. Not to many do that any more. Irks me when a highly marketed film gets me nothing more than a soft "oh..."
Patti has a hard time with "sad" movies, and if she knows it will be sad, she won't watch it. Where as I will, because I know it may affect me.
This documentary, deals with corruption within Minneapolis's government, plus some negatives towards the media. All after the George Floyd incident.
I had issues with the incident. The tactic shown on his shoulder/neck looked to be a little ruthless... but I'm no cop. In the photo an officer nondescript looking up, almost into a yawn.
I heard early on an autopsy report he had several drugs in his system, including fentnyl. For what ever reason here in the flatlands that subject seemed to disappear thru the rest of the circus to follow.
....
The media imo, currently is unregulated, and holds no standards to prove credibility. News today, is all about "what sells news". They all copy off each other believing each knows what they are talking about. The days of Cronkite/Huntley/Brinkley telling everyone that eating shit is good for you..... is gone. America believed in these guys, and they were a good solid news source most of the time.
I have to include the company that made this documentary in this group too. As I find very few that are honest real news sources that have no sway with politics or money. I don't know this company, or their work ethic.... so I'm tossing them into this box.
My favorite go to, but hard to just sit down for an hour and listen is "Democracy Now". I've seen it attack Obama, Trump, and other favorite people of hi exposure. Although they are totally a nonprofit news source, there could still easily be a dirty secret. Who is a good neutral news source? I have no idea anymore.
......
This documentary is presented very well, with purpose, and easy to follow. It definitely wasn't a low budget film.
As the documentary unfolds, it starts a few minutes before George Floyds incident. And then shows and translates all body cam videos and audio.
This part was very enlightening. I was very surprised to say the least. This incident from these moments wasn't really dealing with bad cops, but a guy that was out of control.
Once he died, there was an immediate autopsy. This autopsy, within hours became "null and void", as higher ups wanted a different autopsy done by their own person (federal or state, I can't remember).
The 2 autopsy's didn't line up. The second one was vague, compared to a detailed report.
The first one went away, showing way more that could affect the outcome of these cops. It was not permitted by the courts.
Most of the body cam videos were also not permitted by the courts. Many of these videos for some unknown reason were never released to the public for viewing.
Private phone videos were allowed, one notorious one we have all seen, taken by an off duty fire fighter.
Some things that I didn't know: The arresting officer for George Floyd was black. The fire dept. didn't receive correct address from 911 for unknown reasons, thus the 20 minute delay of their arrival for an 8 block drive. The cops called for an ambulance as soon as they got him on the ground.... long before he passed. The "ruthless" hold I commented about before, was an actual move fully recognized and approved by the police department in each of the officers training manuals. The higher ups all denied that that move was allowed (think, the cops were trained to use this move, and it was "ok" to do it). The police department, pretty much let the rioters "have" precinct 34, even though it wasn't in any real jeopardy at that moment of "evacuation".
.......
Ok, so you got the jist. A lot of horrible things came from this incident, all across our country.
This incident presented as it is by this documentary company shows possibility that it actually was completely different than what the media portrayed or the higher ups in the city allowed. This shows that it is so very easy to take video out of context. Much easier than I have ever suspected, and changed my impression from here on out.
.....
I can't believe/understand the agenda of these folks that controlled everything. Are they that ruthless to let all that damage, death, and ruining the careers of good people, just so they look good in the publics eye?
Yeah, I'm leaning towards the direction presented by this documentary. I'm not 100% in, as it is just another news company. But it affected me too, enough I'm still thinking about it today. And yup, thats a good thing.

My g/t asks are 6, 7, 9, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 20
(Sorry if this is too many questions, I'm just genuinely curious. Also, I hope you have a great day.)
HO BOY!! This is a long one!! 💕
6. Fairies or Borrowers?
I tend towards borrowers for the most part. The lack of being able to fly adds quite a lot of tension/vulnerability in my opinion- though I still love fairies as well!
7. Giants or humans
Answered here :)
9. Favorite piece of G/t media
Oooh! I answered this a few times but I always got more recs 😘
I adored the webtoon Hooky! There is a reoccurring g/t theme starting early on that lasts nearly to then end and BOY is it ever good. The story is amazing, regardless of the G/t and I highly recommend it!
12. If you suddenly grew/shrunk right now, what would happen?
I would not be getting my deposit back for my rental, thats for sure.
A more interesting answer is that someone would definitely call 911 for the property damage alone and I'd be hightailing it out of the city. I know quite a few of the local first responders so that would likely be a very awkward encounter.
15. What size scenario is the funniest to you?
As a more general scenario- Enemies/rivals in a begrudging forced proximity because one of them shrinks and for some reason they have to deal with eachother and the size scenario.
Also when the giant is creeped out/terrified of the tiny for whatever reason.
16. Answered here :)
17. How long have you been into G/t?
Oof- Quite a while. I don't know exactly when it started- because I think it started as a byproduct of a quasi g/t interest? As a little kid I was really into the idea of shrinking- not at all for the the sizey interactions but strictly for educational purposes (thank you magic school bus). I've been into biology and animal behavior/physiology for as long as I can remember, and was fixated on being able to learn about animals much more close up. I don't know when it became about sizey interactions, or when I realized I wanted to be big but I know it was before I was 12 for sure. I'd guess somewhere between grade 3-6? Honestly it could have been even earlier than that.
18. Favorite G/t creators!
WOOO! I could keep going all day with this! I absolutely adore @guaxinimraccoon 's work with Euphoria 👀 Brad and Toby are incredibly fun character's and their lore??? CHEF'S KISS.
I get so excited anytime I see a new post from them!! The art style is so fun and expressive, and the pacing of their comics is absolutely wonderful!!
20. A fictional character you really want to shrink/grow?
Two weirdly specific webtoon ones-
Doyun Nam from Act like you love me needs to be small
Jihu from Love and Leashes also needs to be shrunk

About the Buck Tommy break up: If they do break them up, when do you think that would happen? How long would they date for? I feel like they might keep them together for all of the next season.
Yeah I kinda think I agree? and like i'll remind you i'm like. 50/50 on buddie canon ON A GOOD DAY (i'm 100000% FOR IT, i'm 50/50 on them actually doing it) so. even assuming buddie canon is definitely where they want to take the story i could definitely see Tommy sticking around through s8.
(another cut because idk how to shut the fuck up)
For one, he's a recurring character so he's not going to be in every episode anyway. which means even if he's there for all of s8 they probably only have like 8-12 episodes to actually develop that relationship arc. For two, they seem to have forgotten how to develop Buck as a character without putting him in a relationship (see the mess that was his arc in s6...the girlies were spinning their wheels so hard and throwing everything against the wall to see what would stick) so they have every reason to want to keep him in said relationship for most of the season purely for story fodder.
I'm hopeful they'll find a way to continue developing Buck's sexuality arc without it being all about his relationship, but honestly i'm not banking on it. (my kingdom for a queer first responders group...a great way to also introduce some new tertiary characters plz & thanks!! more Hen/Buck also plz & thanks!!) i think the buck/fatherhood storyline (his desire for it, his realization that he almost but not quite has it already?) is ALSO something that could be built out in s8 and i would loooooooooove to see it (and could, as already mentioned, lead us to the eventual Buck-Tommy breakup).
anyway you didn't ask me about Buck storylines LMAO so back to your point. They have let's say 10-ish episodes over the course of s8 to really develop the Buck-Tommy relationship so I think them breaking up at the end of the season makes sense. and given that unlike in other seasons they're starting with a LOT of ground to cover in terms of other storylines (Captain Gerrard, Bobby returning, EDDIE & CHRIS, Councilwoman Ortiz, Hen + Karen + Chim + Maddie as coparents, etc etc etc) I wouldn't be surprised if Buck and Tommy continue to take kind of a backseat in the first half of the season. Like I think we'll see Tommy around and we'll get a few one-off storylines about him/their relationship but that's it.
And let's say things go exactly the way I want them to and we do get an Eddie feelings realization while Buck and Tommy are still together. I think we need at LEAST half a season to get Eddie there, probably even more, just because he's got SO MUCH to go through next season (i am hopeful the Gerrard arc only takes up 1-3 episodes MAX--unless they do another big disaster season opener--and then we get a Christopher reunion by mid-mid season, ep 6-7. They do often like to do big emotional set piece episodes smack dab in the middle of each half, like Tomorrow in 6a and There Goes the Groom in 7b).
THEN we also need time for Eddie to pine. For a good half season, at the very least. So yeah that easily puts us at the end of s8, just in time for Buck to have his own feelings realization, perhaps in the aftermath of some dramatic season-ending storyline, and then break up with Tommy at the very end of s8. Leading to mutual pining at the beginning of s9. Or they could drag it out even further, especially if they get an early renewal again. I wouldn't be opposed to that.
Obviously this is like. Sibyl's Dream Scenario. aka what would happen if ABC hired me as the showrunner. What they actually will do in the show I have no idea. And a lot of it also depends on LFJ's availability (like we all know that's exactly what ended up happening with Natalia and why she got unceremoniously dumped offscreen). I know he's on another show as well, but I get the feeling he's going to make his 911 stuff a priority as much as he can because he's gotten a LOT of attention for this role and from what i can tell has seemed genuinely enthusiastic about it.

Anon who asked Evcndiaz about disconnect between old and new fandoms. I partially meant following, since bigger and older blogs rarely follow newer ones. But I also meant things like reading fics by new authors that aren’t established 911 writers, or even reblogging newer users’ meta posts and gifs. It feels like the big blogs in this fandom really only engage with each other’s work and that can be disheartening to new fans who want to share their work with a community that doesn’t actually seem interested in what they’re putting out. (I don’t mean this in a guilt tripping way, of course no one is entitled to attention and you don’t need to engage with content you don’t like. It just feels like sometimes our work isn’t even given a chance since we haven’t been here for that long.)
Hi, thanks for clarifying! I do have a few thoughts about this!
Obviously I can only speak for myself, but I do think many others have at least similar experiences. When you first enter a new fandom you usually find lots of new blogs to follow, and there's a lot of new content to engage with. But at some point you start feeling like you get everything you need from your dash and you stop actively following new people whose content get reblogged onto your dash. It still happens, of course, but at least I'm much less likely to start following someone at this point than I was in fall 2021 when I joined the fandom. And it's not because newer and/or unfamiliar blogs are doing anything wrong, your dash is just saturated and the threshold for starting to follow someone becomes higher.
I think finding new fic authors suffer from the same saturation. After being in fandom for a while, you've usually found a good batch of authors that write in a style you like, and if they're still putting out new fics to read, trying out an unfamiliar author is an extra step to take in the process. But that's not to say it doesn't happen! I keep finding new authors I like, just at a much slower speed than in my early days in this fandom. I'm also reading less fanfiction overall right now, and I think that also applies to a lot of people who've been in the fandom longer. And that also makes the process of trying out a new fic author more tedious, as you tend to prioritize new fics from authors you already know you enjoy.
When it comes to meta posts I've also noticed that many of those I've seen lately tend to discuss things that have already been talked about a lot in the fandom. Newer people in the fandom have no way of knowing that, of course, but many times when I've skimmed a post my reaction has been "well, yeah, we talked about this at length back in the break between 5A and 5B" or whatever. So there's no net new information, you know?
It is sad if newer members of the fandom feel like they're being kept out of the community, because I definitely don't want anyone to feel like that, but I do get why the situation is what it is right now. I don't really have any good solution to offer up either, other than to try not feel discouraged if your posts don't seem to get noticed by older fans, which is a pretty meh advice. I'm not sure exactly when you entered the fandom, but if it was during this hiatus, I remember the fandom always coming together and mixing much more while the show is airing and we get new material to obsess over. I found several new favourite fic authors last spring while 6B was airing!
And even if you follow me and I don't follow you back, that doesn't mean I'm not open to talking to you! I love talking weewoo with friends, mutuals, followers, and anons, and my inbox is always open for chatting, requesting or giving fic recs, or exchanging thoughts about our blorbos.

Why does everything always happen to me?
A couple of days ago around 4:30ish AM I just got home from Waymo. I was trying to find parking but what do ya know can't find any. So even though I wasn't supposed to I parked in the driveway at my apartment complex. Everyone who knows me knows I wouldn't be parked there for long anyways. At the very most I would be gone in 4 hours on to my next job.
I noticed that my block was darker than usual. No big deal! From time to time light blubs on my block do burnout. Life...right? As I was packing I've seen a man across the street. Never seen him before but again I didn't think anything of it. I"m bearly home, to begin with. So, I brushed it off as one of my neighbors. I mean he didn't look poor so whatever. I mind you he was across the street. As I got out of the car and started to take my stuff with I turned around and was shocked that this puny white guy (in his early 20) Snuck up on me like a cat! He was maybe 20 feet away from me at this point.
Without even thinking I told him "GOOD MORNING!" with conviction. Like I said before, it was darker than usual outside. He took a couple of steps back because I purposefully sounded like a man. So, he would think that I was a tranny. The effect worked in my favor long enough for me to get away. He walked away mumbling to himself and unfortunately for me a car passed by that lit up my driveway this white guy must have seen that hey this isn't a man let me have another go at it. Came back to me saying that I was "very beautiful".
"Why thank you, very flattering...okay goodbye!
Walked away mumbling only to come back as I was getting into my house and had the audacity to ask me if he can come in. I told him Fuck NO! I have family here and it's 4AM! What the fuck am I gonna do with you. Sir GO AWAY! but have a good night.
You have to stay nice and positive folks. You just never know when it's your time to go your one fucked up social interaction away from going to Hell. I can already see it now. I'm in the good graces of God, and God is doing his Godly duties and looking over the book of my life uh huh, uh huh, Yep. Yup. Everything checks out okay but you've been a cunt for the last 5 years of your life so off you go to Hell. Then I'm gonna fight for territory and power from Satan himself. That's the sub-moral of the story here folks. Be firm but nice.
So, I got into my house and it dawned on me that hey this fucker break into my car so I kept the door open but my screen door locked and just stood there at the door listening for anything! This dude comes back and ran up the stairs. I was like okay I'm done! The shut door locked it everything is now on lockdown and I'm now on the phone with 911. Only 911 didn't answer the phone for 4.5 mins! A lot can happen to a person within 4.5 mins like death. FINALLY! Someone answers. I gave the dispatch lady my address and she said oh that's the sheriff's district let me transfer you and for another give or take a minute someone else finally answers the phone.
This whole entire time this guy was trying to get into my house. Mind you I have underage children in my house. I'll be damed if Mr. Casanova over here is gonna get passed me. Oh, side note he was jacking off too while still attempting to break in! Ew Gross, I know! But I have to hand it to him the man is not completely useless when he gets out from jail he can place on his resume that he's a multi-tasker as a solid skill.
Anyways some more time passed with the sheriff's dispatch lady. Nobody is here yet! I'm over here like WTF! My son woke up and he was asking me what is going on? I told him to brace himself gimme the biggest knife in the kitchen and get in the room and lock himself in. The dispatch lady freaked.
"Ma'am, There is no need to do that. Just lock the doors and do not open them, stay calm."
Jesus! Just my luck. A Karen answered the phone. After explaining to Karen the dispatcher what the definition of a break-in is all about. I told her if he breaks in I will kill him. I have underaged children in my home. If he breaks in all bets after off. It's been 10 mins and help is not here and I now have a fillet knife in my right hand. Good luck finding a jury that would convict me. Now the cops come. For 15 mins I was here in my home fighting for help to come. 30 seconds of talk of killing someone then they come. o.O WTF just when it was starting to get good.
And that's the true moral of the story here. Do you want cops to come? Confess to potential murder. They'll be here faster than you think. My suspicions of this are because they do not want to deal with the Media and more important the mountain of paperwork they would have to suffer through.

Today is a dreary day in more than just weather. I mentioned in a previous post that the coworker whose daughter I was making a sweater for had some health issues this year. Said coworker took extended leave and up to today we'd gotten positive updates.
Cut for medical talk.
A, my coworker's daughter, had begun having absence seizures early this year, shortly before her first birthday. Initially they were rare and never more than a minute or so. My coworker likely wouldn't have even noticed except that A is very engaged and active little girl. To have her suddenly spacing out like that was unusual. Her doctor dismissed it as something she'd likely grow out of. The seizures even stopped for three months or so.
When the seizures started back up they started happening more often--2 or 3 a week, at least--so my coworker (C) took A back to the doctor, and they were referred to a specialist. The specialist scheduled an EEG, which came back normal, and they were told it was nothing.
The seizures continued and increased in frequency and duration, so C fought for the specialist to run more tests. Another EEG was done and still came back normal. This time the specialist told my coworker that it was probably just indigestion, based on two normal EEGs and a couple of videos of the seizures happening. (Two nurse friends of C's, the primary doctor, the specialist's nurse, and everyone who saw the video agreed that it was not just indigestion.)
Naturally, C wasn't happy with this answer because something did not feel right. She went back to A's primary doctor, with the videos. The primary agreed something was wrong and contacted the specialist to try to get more answers; she told C that she was going to refer them to a different specialist, though, because she wasn't happy with the answers she got, either. C was given anti-seizure medication for A and told to try that until they could get into the new specialist. It seemed to help, and A was suddenly sleeping better and was less fussy.
The first specialist had agreed after the second EEG to schedule an MRI after a lot of pushing from C, so C kept that appointment since it took so long to get in.
A week before the MRI, A had a full on seizure. C called 911; the seizure lasted the entire 5 minutes it took an ambulance to get to their house. A was given a strong anti-seizure drug in the ambulance but continued seizing, and her pulse and oxygen levels dropped down to dangerous levels.
The ER refused to do any testing or take it seriously (one of the paramedics even gave C his phone number, telling her that she could contact him for his incident report because there was definitely something wrong and he couldn't believe the ER was ignoring it).
The MRI was at the end of August. It showed a small mass on A's brain, and they were airlifted to the children's hospital in Kansas City (about a 3 hour drive from where we live) and surgeons operated the next day.
Even though A had a stroke on the operating table and lost almost complete use of her right side, the surgery was successful and doctor's said there was a 95% chance that there would be no re-occurrence. She was put in extensive rehabilitation in KC for a couple of weeks and made fantastic progress.
Every update we've gotten up to now has been good. A continues making progress and is talking and walking and using her right side like nothing happened; physical therapy is continuing through the end of the year, and C opted to remain off work until then.
Apparently, though...A had another major seizure. The details I have are sketchy and I'm not going to bother C for more right now. Testing showed a bleed on A's brain, though, and they have her on some kind of medication. They're having to return to KC for another surgery to hopefully correct this.
I feel so bad for them. It's bad enough that C and her husband are having to watch their little girl go through this, but everything was going so well for weeks and then...this happens. I'm glad A is young enough that she likely won't remember this, but her parents are going to.
All I can really do is pray and make offerings to my gods, and...I don't know. Start another thing for A, as a way of telling the universe I refuse to believe she won't be here to use it? That she's going to pull through, and be fine, and nothing else is allowed to happen to her or her family, because they've gone through enough, damn it?
For now, I'm going to go finish a sock.
