I have this idea so clear in my head of an SakuAtsu / UshiTen fic in which Tendou and Atsumu accidentally stumble into a friends-with-benefits relationship after Ushijima and Sakusa announce their relationship.

It’s done following an Adlers-MSBY game and Atsumu puts on a happy face but leaves at the first opportunity to drown his sorrows in liquor in a bar where he doesn’t have to be surrounded by his congratulatory teammates and well wishes to the new couple.

Two drinks in, the stranger next to him swivels in his chair to face him with a commiseratory expression and says he recognizes a broken hearted stranger and let him buy him a drink.

Atsumu tries to wave off the guy, wanting to wallow alone, but the guy doesn’t seem care and buys him a drink anyway.

The man introduces himself as Satori, a name that tickles Atsumu memory but he ignores it. He has the glazed eyes of someone who has already had a fair share of liquor and rocks in his chair as he waxes poetic about how he flew out all the way from Paris to finally confess his feelings to his best friend from high school, only to show up at the bar his friend was celebrating at to find him celebrating his new relationship. He slipped out without a word, not wanting to ruin the mood with his broken heart.

It’s around their third shared drink that Atsumu reciprocates the gesture. Because hell, he’s drunk and heartbroken and this man is also drunk and heartbroken and maybe he just wants someone to listen. So he talks about Sakusa. His stupid hair and his stupid hand sanitizer and his stupidly flexible body and his stupidly handsome face and his stupid gloating smile when he wins and the stupid way he’s a germaphobe but still brings him medicine when he’s sick and all the things that made Atsumu fall stupidly in love with him, and now he’s stuck heartbroken bc the guy he’s in love with is now dating his high school crush and they’re probably gonna get married and have a stupidly beautiful wedding and live happily ever after.

And Satori listens to him and pats his back consolingly and suddenly Atsumu is kissing him because, fuck it, they’re both drunk and lonely and Sakusa is probably back at Ushijima’s place so why shouldn’t he have a little fun?

There’s hands and teeth and tongues, and the two of them somehow make it back to Atsumu’s room at the MYSB dorms and the rest of the night is a bit of a blur.

When Atsumu wakes up the next morning with a pounding hangover, to a surprised yelp from his door.

“Tendou-san! What are you doing in Atsumu’s room?”

Standing at the door with a bottle of aspirin and a bottle of water, is Hinata, slack-jawed and looking between Satori and Atsumu, and suddenly, the synapses in his brain that had been bogged down by liquor last night, start firing.

The redhead looks between Hinata and Atsumu. His expression in clear confusion, trying to figure out how Hinata is here, but Atsumu is already well aware who the red head standing in his boxers is.

Satori. Tendou Satori.

Tendou Satori who was the middle blocker and famous Guess Monster of Shiratorizawa.

Tendou Satori who is Ushijima Wakatoshi’s best friend who lives in Paris.

Sakusa is going to kill him.

Thus begins a comedy of errors in which Tendou and Atsumu try and disguise the fact that they’ve slept together from their respective unrequited loves, all the while Ushijima and Sakusa’s relationship grows tense as they both find growing discomfort in Atsumu and Tendou’s perceived closeness.

oh god ok much much thoughts i hope you don't mind my extremely rambly series of asks. first off, marius

I imagine Marius villain as that he wants to completely remake pax to be free of austin & giann's influence, and if he can't, destroy the company instead. because what if austin & giann never truly got over carenina's death?

austin subconsciously holds marius to the Giann Standard:tm: and is generally more absent in his life, sometimes ignoring marius' achievements (like winning the art competition at his school) for giann's events.

giann despises marius for taking away his mother, and makes no secret of that. austin doesn't notice (austin never notices), and only the staff saves marius from the worst of the bullying. (he would have died when he was six, if someone didn't alert giann. and even then, the saving was for the sake of his reputation, not because he genuinely cared about marius surviving)

but that doesn't matter now. as much as austin disliked him, he has no reason to return to the job. and even if austin really does suspect that marius took care of his brother (because he did. the body would never be found), and every conversation they have are a careful dance around the accusation, he would never know.

after all, his name starts with m. m for marius. (m for monster. and what can they say when the truth comes out? what can they say to a monster of their own making?)

i do like the idea of artem being pushed to be an anti hero of sorts in the law industry, i think i still prefer blackmailed artem into helping bc after a while he'd become what he fought so valiantly against, yk? it's poetic but i won't deny mockingjay has a really good ring to it.

My literary tastes are fairly eclectic so to impose some order on proceedings, I've broken things down and recommended some specific works by some of my favourite authors.

Angela Carter I enjoy the weaving of magic and myth, feminism and sexuality throughout her often surreal works. I'd recommend The Magic Toyshop, The Passions of New Eve, and The Infernal Desire Machines of Doctor Hoffman.

Leonora Carrington Pioneering Surrealist artist and novelist who wrote frankly about her mental health struggles, and in a strangely comedic way about many other things. The Hearing Trumpet is a personal favourite, as is The Debutante.

Nan Shepherd Shepherd captures so well both the rhapsodic beauty of the Cairngorms and the idiosyncrasies of Scottish life in general. Try The Living Mountain and The Weatherhouse.

Mikhail Bulgakov I've long been partial to the darkly comedic nature of some Russian literature and Bulgakov is one of my favourites. The Master and Margarita, The Heart of a Dog, and A Young Doctor's Notebook are all great.

Scott Lynch His Gentleman Bastard series (though sadly not yet finished with only three of a total seven books released thus far) is incredible fun and literally makes me laugh out loud. I also feel he manages to offer really solid representation and worldbuilding, and avoids many common fantasy pitfalls.

unhinged au idea: marcus and luca as long-haul truckers who keep meeting each other at the same rest stop, gradually getting to know each other. at some point, one of them sheepishly admits that this particular rest stop has the best donuts they’ve ever had, ever, and then they both reveal that they love baking, the creativity of it combined with the science, precision and magic all in one. anyway, this takes their relationship from gradually to suddenly because why the fuck not, and they start meeting at whichever rest stop they can, bringing each other pastries every time, experimenting, tasting, trying. and then, they’re talking one evening, and they just—decide to quit. leave their financially-comfortable jobs to be with one another wholly instead of just in pieces, and they decide to open up a proper bakery at the same rest stop where they met, and it becomes a true destination stop, with people going out of their way to get a taste. anyway.
