hi! sorry to bug you, but I has a question on how you make aus and stuff! (pls direct me to a post if you’ve already answered my questions :>)
how do you come up with your au concepts? and how do you not get burnt out on them super quick? does writing ever get really hard when making your fics? and how do you usually combat that? (as a writer I struggle with focusing on one project and hopping onto the next thing). I could use some tips on how you go about developing and going through the process of making fic and ideas without giving up in the beginning ^-^’
ty for your time, if you’re reading this! have a good day!
Heya! Okay, I'll answer these as best as I can!
how do you come up with your au concepts?
Mostly from inspiration, things I like, and things I would like to see cobbled together in a fic. It's just whatever strikes me! Keep creating and keep creating—it's like working out a muscle. The more you do it, the stronger you are at it. Though you should know that not all the au concepts I have are good or shareable, but all that matters is that I keep creating things I like and playing around with fun concepts.
how do you not get burnt out on them super quick?
Mostly by taking it slow and easy. I think it's simple to get burnt out on creative projects if you hit them too hard or fast like you're guzzling water—of course, you're gonna get sick of it super fast. If you sip at it slowly, bit by bit, it's easier to digest. I suppose I do that by stretching it out so it's much more manageable.
does writing ever get really hard when making your fics?
Absolutely. Writing is the hardest thing I've ever done and the most rewarding. Of course, I get discouraged, insecure, stuck, and lost in my writing. Sometimes I don't know what to do. I just keep going though, and don't stop.
and how do you usually combat that?
Mostly by taking a breather, stepping away, and asking for a second opinion. Usually, that hard place I'm stuck in isn't actually as bad as I thought it was the next day or after getting some feedback on it.
(as a writer I struggle with focusing on one project and hopping onto the next thing)
Something that helps is making sure the fic is something you're passionate about—make sure you're creating for yourself, out of your enjoyment. Also, having a set goal and outline is really helpful with completing projects, especially if it's a big fic. It keeps you on track and helps guide you when you get stuck or lost. Another thing is reminding yourself why you're writing it, whether it's for a specific scene at the end, you want to tell this story or any other motivation. Keep falling in love with it and keep working on it, bit by bit. I should also say it's okay if your attention slips. Usually, when I feel like I'm getting antsy and my focus is shifting to something else, I'll write a drabble or put that idea down on paper to get it out of my system, then return to whatever I need to complete. Stay dedicated and disciplined. You'll make it.

Sonadow Fic Rec
Okay, before you jump down to the masterpieces listed below, I just wanted to state this:
These authors have given this phenomenal content for free, baked with time and effort. I have never once ignored this, hence why I try and comment on each and every one of these fics. However, my energy and ability to be verbose differs day to day. Some of these fics I have not given proper comments for, despite this, I will be on it the moment I can be. In the time being, (once I am able to find my comments on each of these fics) I will be sharing my adoration for them further in other posts (and most likely link back to this one).
With that being said, please, PLEASE take your time to check each of these fics out. If they're not your cup of tea? Valid! But hands down I have never dedicated myself to making a fic rec like this until now. But I MUST share and spread these works, they are much too dear to me not to, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
(All fics are listed by order saved in my bookmarks, not in the order read)

Shadow hissed in pain. The laser had just grazed him, but it still stung, and he instinctively gripped the wound it left on his arm. “You dare-”
He stopped. The laser hadn’t hit him. In fact, it had struck Sonic, right on his lower left arm.
So why did his forearm feel like it just got shot?
He whipped around, fear climbing up his throat, and he suddenly became hyper-aware of something new. It was like a sixth sense, feeling the confusion that emitted from Sonic’s fur in waves as if it was his own.
“What did you do?!” Shadow snarled.
or, eggman accidentally soulbinds shadow and sonic, and no one has any idea how to undo it.

Sonic understood well what it meant to be loved. He was a world-famous hero, after all; his presence never went unnoticed. For the most part, he lavished in that attention, he soaked it in and encouraged it.
But not romantic attention.
So, when the blue blur found himself falling in love? Well, the prospect was rather daunting, no matter how easy Amy had made it out to be. So maybe, just maybe, he should just take the easy way out...

World-famous monster hunter Shadow the Hedgehog has a job to do. It doesn't take long for the one-shot wonder to realize that this job won't be as simple as he'd expected: a small town, rumors of a lone werewolf, and a handsome, green-eyed, chronically-injured casanova who manages to worm his way into Shadow's heart...
What starts off as a simple job turns out to be something much more life-changing.

Shadow has lost himself before. He knows what it's like to straddle the line between reality and false memories, but this time, it’s Sonic whose memory has vanished.
A premeditated set of circumstances and an accidental injury leave Sonic with no memory of who he is, his life, or more importantly, his painful history with Shadow.
It’s up to Shadow to remind the hero who he is in the midst of a global outbreak. It’s a chance for redemption. It’s a chance to right the wrongs of the past.
It’s a clean slate.

Maybe he's not meant to touch. It's the newest excuse he thought of in hopes that he could prolong the game a little more; a careful ruse to enjoy the bittersweet torture of seeing the days pass them by, while he pretends he doesn't seek azure blue whenever he's restless. At first, all he wanted to do was watch: but now the desire to touch, to have, to affect is at a point where he's not sure whether reaching for Sonic would truly be fruitless.
He wonders that especially when Sonic's eyes light up upon seeing him. When he corners Shadow, when he invades his space and he touches and takes and then excuses it by calling it a fight. Shadow truly wonders then: if only he was brave enough to reach out, what would his grip find? Loose stars or a battle-worn body?
Standing up, he glances at Sonic again, whose eyes have now met his own. There's something heavy in the eye contact, something Shadow doesn't dare name. Neither of them say anything, and yet Sonic's eyes move away from him again, like they did.
Shadow warps away, hiding from the stars once more.

Coming Home by nottheweirdest
Words: 55,740 | Completed
Shadow's life has been full of mistakes, some worse than others, but admitting his unrequited feelings to Sonic tops the list. He's spent the better part of a decade ruminating on his regret and hiding from feelings he couldn't bear to face. He never thought he'd see Sonic again, and he told himself that was for the best.
Until now.
At the bequest of his former rival, and in an attempt to finally get closure, Shadow has returned to Central City. The reason?
Sonic the Hedgehog is marrying Amy Rose.
And Shadow is invited.

Okay I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure Leo has the most episodes that are mainly focused on him, which is interesting
This was a very interesting question and I wondered if that was the case! So I went and tried to take a look.
What I found going in is that Leo seems to be in the most non-Ensemble episodes, and the episodes that focus on him stand out more since they tend to not have the rest of the cast (as in, Hueso stands in as his other focused character, rather than one of Leo’s family members like most everyone else gets.)
Leo’s focused episodes also tend to have the entire Ensemble as supporting characters, again rather than the one or two other main characters that his bros and April tend to get. What is most notable I think is that while other characters have just about as much focused episodes, Leo’s (and Donnie’s) in particular seem to focus on their personal struggles more rather than just an outside conflict, so they stand out more than others in that way too.
Honestly going through the episodes it’s pretty amazing to see how overall even things are? Like even if some got more focus than others, the range is under 8 points for the four bros, which is nice to see.
Below is a messy and hard to read culmination of my research which undoubtedly contains mistakes here and there. Fair warning that this is based on my own memory and of episode synopsis and the like, and I didn’t include the movie but that one is pretty obvious. It’s also fairly subjective what one may consider to be a “focus” or not. I tried to take into account what happens within the episodes, so hopefully this is fairly accurate? Beware it’s long so I’ll put it under a read more-
Notes to take into account before the scores-
Full Focus means that a lot of time is spent with the character and they’re one of the “focuses” of the episode outside of an ensemble way. Example of this is Minotaur Maze which is both a Leo and Ensemble episode, but Leo gets the Full Focus while Ensemble in this instance gets-
Partial Focus just means that the characters are present in the episode and have enough focus put on them to differentiate them from the Ensemble. They have a notable part in the episode but it is not about them, and this can even include when they are directly involved in the conflict. And example of this is Donnie’s Gifts which is an Ensemble and Donnie episode where despite Donnie being the driving force, Ensemble gets the Full Focus and Donnie gets Partial Focus but-
Main Character is the scoring which takes into account whether the episode centers around a specific character or characters. Note than even if a character has Full Focus, it’s possible that they’re not the Main Character, and even if the character has Partial Focus, they can still be the Main Character. Main Character scoring does not add into how I calculated the-
Overall Score - aka the culmination of both the Full and Partial Focuses. Full Focus gets 3 points, and Partial Focus gets 2s.
Here is the scoring-
April - 3 2 3 2 3 3 3 2 3
Full Focus: 6

Overall Score: 18 (range 17-19)
Casey (Sr) - 3 2 3 2 3

Overall Score: 13 (range 12-13)
Ensemble - 3 2 2 3 2 3 3 3 2* 3 1 3 3* 3 3 3 2 1* 3 3 1 2 2 2 3 2 2 2 3 3 3 3 2 3 3 3 2 3 2 2 2 2 3 3 3
Full Focus: 25
Partial Focus: 17
Minimal Focus: 3
Overall Score: 112
*’s (it’s not very easy to decipher what asterisk leads to what, sorry):
*1: Mascot Melee is pretty ensemble, but Raph does quite a bit in it
*2: Stuck on You is majorly ensemble but Raph is still focused on quite a bit
*3: Hot Soup: The Game has ensemble qualities, but is mainly Mikey and Casey Sr
*4: You Got Served can arguably be a 2 as well since major focus is also on Hueso
*5: Turtle-dega Nights: The Ballad of the Rat Man can arguably be considered more of a Donnie and Splinter episode so Mikey will get a 2 here
*6: Repairin’ the Baron - same as above sorta. All three of Mikey Raph and Baron have big roles to play in this episode but as they share them with each other, it’s arguable whether these 3s should be 2 1/2s.
*7: The Hidden City Job - despite Leo being the only main character really present, the main focus is more on Hueso and his brother
*8: Finale can be considered high for both Raph (he had a lot of great focus) Casey Sr. (she was a major part of the finale AND we learn her name) and especially Splinter (literally everything he did tbh)
Main findings for this are than Raph and ESPECIALLY Mikey deserve more episodes tbh. I hope I didn’t miss any episodes, but it was a bit difficult to keep track of everything haha.

hear me out on this ok. ROTS AU where Anakin still turns to the dark side but that's Palpatine's problem.
So, Palpatine decides last minute that ehhhh maybe dooku could come in handy later and he doesn't encourage Anakin to kill him, and Dooku gets arrested and imprisoned in the Jedi Temple awaiting trial. (Also he didn't get his hands cut off because of uhh plot reasons?)
Fast forward.
Palpatine is encouraging Anakin towards the Dark side, tells him about Plagueis the Wise, etc. etc. But see, the thing is, Anakin is at the end of his tether, probably hasn't slept more than three hours over the past week, and has no remaining impulse control or inhibitions, and upon hearing that the Dark Side can save people from death, his first thought is, "wait a sec, we've got a Sith Lord in-house at the moment!" and he sprints out of the space opera and books it back to the temple.
Now, Dooku has been calmly waiting in Temple custody, confident that Darth Sidious will arrange his escape. But THEN Anakin barges into the cell like OMG THE CHANCELLOR TOLD ME THE SITH KNOW HOW TO KEEP PEOPLE FROM DYING AND I'M HAVING DREAMS ABOUT SOMEONE DYING AND I NEED YOUR HELP TO SAVE THEM
At which point, Dooku realizes Palpatine's plan. He's going to tempt Skywalker to the Dark side and REPLACE DOOKU. this is totally uncool.
So he's like "...who are you dreaming about, exactly?"
Anakin freezes. He can't admit it's Padme because their relationship is top-secret and he can't admit how important she is to him so he tries to think of a good fib and goes "uhhhh OBI-WAN! Obi-Wan, it's Obi-Wan, I'm dreaming about Obi-Wan dying-" and he just throws himself into the drama because now he IS imagining obi-wan dying because Obi-Wan is fighting grievous at the moment and he MIGHT ACTUALLY DIE and that's in addition to Padme dying and he's totally spiraling at this point- "pleasepleaseplease you gotta help me he's like the only father i've ever known I don't know what i'll do without obi-wan I have to save him YOU GOTTA TELL ME WHAT TO DO I'LL DO ANYTHING--"
Dooku begins to smile.
(Would stealing Skywalker out from under his Master's nose be petty? Oh, yeah.)
(But it would also be very, very satisfying.)
---
Obi-Wan calls in to a council meeting to report his defeat of Grievous, but before he can say so, Mace announces that Dooku has escaped and the Sith Master has been killed.
Silence falls between the eleven councilmembers (eleven, not twelve, because their newest one is conspicuously absent. Obi-Wan wonders just what Anakin's up to now. Honestly, that boy will be the death of him.)
Obi-Wan clears his throat.
"...indeed," he says, trying to handle the shocking news with composure. "Well... at least we're down to one Sith, now."
Another awkward pause.
"Yeah, about that--" Mace begins.
