The Will to Change by bell hooks needs to be assigned reading for everyone.

In general, boys and men are socialized to be this way, purposefully not taught the skills they need to form meaningful connections because it serves the powers that be to keep us as isolated as possible beyond the necessity of creating more future workers. All that gets emphasized in their relationships is domination (not the kink obvi) - the goal is constant domination over women, other men, your own feelings, your work, everything. It isolates and enrages, creating the toxicity we're all striving to overcome.

And bell hook's main point is that love and this constant need to dominate cannot coexist. So we need to reconsider how boys are raised and socialized collectively or these issues will struggle to ever change.
