Hi S, I’m in a bit of a pickle atm. I’ve found what I would deem to be my dream man, confident and capable and intelligent. Only problem is that he just doesn’t have the career ambition I’d want in a partner (earns around 55k, in software development). Is this a dealbreaker? How do I approach talking about this?

Ooh interesting. I guess I would encourage you to interrogate why that's important to you. Is it something practical, like you want to have kids and only work part time? Or is it the outward manifestation of something else, i.e. do you actually care what your partner earns or do you really care that they have goals and ambitions they're working towards?

For the former, I'd encourage you to talk out your lifestyle with your partner once you guys are in the right place to do that. Does he want kids? How many? Does he anticipate continuing to work full time? What if you didn't want to, how would that impact the family? This feels to me like a solvable situation, but not without some very serious discussion and some thinking on your part: if you're asking him to be more ambitious to fund the life you want, what would you be willing to compromise? Would you be okay adjusting your lifestyle? Or delaying having kids? Maybe leaning into your career really hard for a few years to save up to fund this? These are the kinds of things you should be thinking about and discussing with him. And if the answer is no, you won't compromise, you need a partner who's going to be earning X to make your life work, then share that with him and let him make his own choices (although I personally think that's too far and not fair, but you have to be honest with yourself about what you can put up with).

If it's the latter, that's a completely fair concern, I would just encourage you to look deeply into (1) how much you care, and (2) is he getting that ambition/personal growth elsewhere, outside his career? As an example, I have a friend who is engaged to a former Olympic-level fencer. After the (Japan) Olympics, his career ended and he spent a few years lost - he didn't really care about his career and lacked another passion, and this made my friend quite worried. It's a few years on now and he's found new stuff to be passionate about (still not work though) and that's absolutely fine with her. So maybe your guy isn't a career guy, oh well. Maybe his passion is to be the greatest stay at home dad ever or learn several languages or take up woodworking and make bespoke furniture for your home. Whatever! As long as he's passionate and strives to improve!

I guess my overarching point here is: we as women are really socialized to want men to 'provide for us' but in an era where a lot of us are making plenty of money to provide for ourselves, we need to be careful about whether those things are actually important to us or whether we've just been taught that we should want them.

Azzi is looking good. Of course that shooting form never lets us down. I’m curious to know what comes after in her recovery like shes shooting, running and jumping. If she’s at her 9th month mark I wonder what’s next.

She should be able to do it all right now so either she's waiting for the all clear or she already had it and is keeping it from us (cause she hates us 👍🏻). The next step should be to take part in scrimmages.
