Zev & Sili having a silent bet on who their daughter is going to end up with cause they know the signs - they’ve been the signs - & nothing brings a meant to be couple like saving the world.

Zevran bets on good’ole Antivan charm. Worked on Sili, though she disagrees, & the mysterious air of an assassin, especially such a notorious one, is far too alluring. Plus, he knows that Nasi, like her mother, is fond of spirits so hes confident that it’s a bonus, not a turn off. He sees how Nasi & Lucanis are, how she always has the same aura of comfort, of pure sunlight, when she talks to him. He sees his daughter soften, how she makes every move deliberate & hard to miss as to not startle the Dellamorte. Zevran knows what that’s like, knows how it crumbles the defenses, & it shows in how Lucanis seems to, maybe unknowingly, watch Nasi somewhat protectively, eyeing danger before it can even think to come at her.

Sili bets on Warden heroism & reunited childhood friends. Nasi was raised by Grey Wardens, learned to fight with Grey Wardens, & laughed with Grey Wardens. The Grey Wardens are her family, by blood & blight, & there’s a distinct charm about them. Davrin knows her like the back of his hand, knows just to challenge & grow with her; reminds her to touch grass & to breath. Davrin laughs as he notices that Nasi still had the same blind spot, notices because he’s already there, shield up to protect her. He pokes fun at her by calling her out when something goes missing, when she’s lurking in the shadows of the Fade & he isn’t a mage but he knows her tricks like the back of his hand. Sili is confident that if Nasi is like her, the Grey Warden will come first.

They both miss that she is a lot like her mother in that it’s the academic that gets her attention first - Emmrich Volkarin. The man who’s out together at every moment shared with Nasi, professional or otherwise; who is able to worm out of her a more inquisitive & academic side as they discuss the intricacies of spirit augmented magical abilities which both are keenly aware of. He charms her in a way that is polite & quiet, the soft touch reciprocated as he guides her with a hand on the small of her back as they traverse Arlathan, or when he offers her a hand every time she stops to loot a chest or body. The parents miss how animated he becomes when Nasi & him talk, how easy conversation comes to them & how her smile beams as they converse.

The mage academic ruins the bet & when Zevran tells Bel, the Inquisitor & Nas’revas’ bio dad, about it the man laughs so loud it’s a wonder Morrigan can keep him hidden. He brushes tears from his eyes as he smiles back at his ex-wife’s paramour and simply says, “That’s how I won Sil’lean’s heart when we were young in Kinloch Hold. I was the academic & she the young girl who’d seen the world.”

While still on my 2HA high, I really want to talk about Chu Wanning's love for Mo Ran.

It is strange, isn't it? How deep his love goes when he only met little Mo Ran for a short while.

IMO, Chu Wanning is like Goj0 Sat0ru - the strongest but the loneliest. Everyone puts them on a pedestal which isolates them from building true connections with others.

For example, Xue Meng obviously loves and cares for Chu Wanning. However, he deeply respects and fears him too. He never sits beside his teacher when eating after all.

Coupled with Chu Wanning's temper and horrible social skills, he is an intimidating figure that would be really difficult to befriend.

Then little Mo Ran barges into his life. He disregarded all the social propriety bullshit and straight up demanded Chu Wanning to pay attention to him. He reached out and interacted Chu Wanning as a person - not some powerful figure to be revered and feared. For someone who has been treated as almost a "nonperson" because of his abilities for his entire life, that simple demand was special and kind in Chu Wanning's perspective.

So, imo, Chu Wanning is like Goj0 and Mo Ran is his "Get0". He loves him because, through sheer luck (aka fate), he is the first to see him beyond his powers and treat him as a real person.

So the next question then is when did Chu Wanning fell in love with Mo Ran?

I don't really know. In the beginning of the new timeline, Wanning is already in love with Mo Ran - he feels jealous of Shi Mei and feels wrong about having such feelings. I guess his love grew over time? Kinda like how Shi Mei and Mo Ran developed their feelings for him.

Maybe that's the case in 0.5 too but far more complicated. Chu Wanning loved Mo Ran. Fell in love with Mo Ran but never did anything about it because of Shi Mei. Probably fell out of love because of Taxian-Jun being Taxian-Jun. However, Chu Wanning's love for Mo Ran still endured despite everything especially when he realized his former disciple needed saving.

As for lusting after Mo Ran, I can only say poor Chu Wanning in the current(second?) timeline. The guy's already in love and ready to take his forbidden feelings to his grave. However, the soul fragment 0.5 Wanning put into him made him remember all his horrific experiences as an abused sex slave by Taxian-Jun... which he misinterpreted as wet dreams and triggered his lust. What a fucking mess. It would have been funny if it weren't so dark and depressing.

jotting down a couple of my solaris post death engine headcanons. hospitalization and mental decline is discussed, although not in all too thorough detail, so i suppose that's a cw?

saying that the medical team didn't consider solaris worth saving wouldn't exactly be accurate. but her condition seemed bleak, and her survival chance was incredibly slim

physical injuries aside, her radiation poisoning was the worst of it. when she was initially brought in after the crash, she wasn't expected to last even a handful of hours as a result of her exposure

said radiation also got all over her clothes, which- when you factor in that patches of them were melded onto her skin due to the sheer heat of the crash- certainly did not help matters much when it came to mitigating further exposure.

thankfully she survived the three hour grace period for severe radiation poisoning. then the three day grace period for moderate radiation poisoning. and then the two week grace period for 'mild' radiation poisoning… the treatments helped, of course, but her immune system hardly escaped unscathed. nor did her stamina, pain tolerance, hair, or the majority of her muscle mass

getting such a traumatic injury immediately after spending an extended amount of time in zero gravity wasn't exactly great for solaris' physical strength. once she was allowed to leave her cot she found it very difficult to support herself without the temporary use of axillary crutches.

she… did not like them. and accidentally made herself worse for a time by purposefully forgoing them. but it didn't take her too long to learn it was less miserable to use them than it was to collapse in the hallway in front of her coworkers.

the fabricator's company especially helped during that period… having designed her own prosthetic after losing her arm, there was little concern fabby would think her any weaker for relying on a mobility aid

the incident… really changed solaris' perspective on a lot of things. grappling with your potentially-rapidly-approaching death will do that to you. she was always a bit of a perfectionist, but going forward she started to cling to her mistakes with a lot more self-directed hostility. after all, it was, ultimately, her fault the death engine project failed to begin with

she also struggles with regret a lot more- mainly in regards to time, and the ways in which she 'wastes' it. another consequence of watching it slip between her fingers, half certain she would be spending the remainder of her life in a hospital cot.

she tries not to make either of these facts too obvious to her coworkers. the fabricator can tell rather easily, though. but that isn't the worst thing in the world. at least she won't weaponize any of it.

the day after she was let out of the hospital was the day she drafted her resignation letter from zoraxis. but she was too scared to do anything with it, or act on the urge to quit beyond that… it was a miracle she even survived to begin with. zor could kill her with a flick of their wrist if they wanted to. and it isn't as if she and the doctor were ever on the best of terms- especially not after her catastrophic failure. she… didn't want to tempt fate until it proved absolutely necessary.

she threw herself into building her imposing figure and nature back up almost as soon as she physically could. and while she inevitably became just as powerful as she was before the incident strength wise, her constitution leaves much to be desired. functionally, she's a glass canon. thankfully, she doesn't look like one- which is a fact that she uses to her advantage when necessary.

I read your post about episode 4 of hh and I haven't seen the series because of that, something in me tells me that something is out of place and it doesn't help that the creator made a cum joke; I want to watch the series but something prevents me and I can't describe it.

Totally understandable. You are under no obligation to watch the show, especially if it makes you uncomfortable or you get a bad feeling about the creator.

On the subject of interest and usury, it is not true that medieval Jews became moneylenders because the Christians had a silly taboo on interest and Jews filled a gap because of their superior intellect making them realize interest is fine. Nope.

Judaism traditionally forbids lending at interest. Entirely. But only to other Jews. Why? Well because the moneylender is hated, and you make strife within your community.

But hey I’m sure lending at interest, becoming a hated moneylender, and creating strife with people who have no ties to you, outnumber you ten to one, and don’t consider themselves dressed without a sword will work out great. I mean what could go wrong?
