Alright I was going to do this on anon but honestly why not own it, ya know? So I first came to your blog with its a match and then slowly spiraled.

First off, I can not believe how fast you've been updating its a match. I don't know what your writing process is but holy fuck you have been feeding us so well. The different dynamics between all the guys and reader is so beautifully crafted. And the way you writer the dynamics between all of the 141 is so good too! I personally feel like they've all been together for such a long time and have such a good relationship outside of the normal chain of command and team bonding. Beautiful! I love when authors write Simon as wanting to feel normal away from work, and you do it so well. Like yes he's gruff and has dry humor but damn does he wear it well. AND THE BANTER!? It's so realistic, like some books/fics the way character talk just sounds so fake, but the way you have them all interacting, talking and texting, is exactly like how I'd imagine them to interact. (SPECIFICALLY THE "HONK SHOO HONK MIMIMIM" PART. I HAD TO TEXT MY HUSBAND ABOUT IT I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD!!) Like typing errors when you text and emojis when you least expect them is just so realistic and I'm obsessed.

Secondly, I came for its a match, but have been scrolling through for all the pegging content. Like I'm not into pegging in practice for myself, but hot damn is it hot to imagine all these super macho guys turned into blubbering, blissed-out messes *chef's kiss* honestly! what is it in particular abt cat!yangie and pup!reader in terms of personality and dynamic that feels so different this time around?

Actually there’s a few things. For one, you're both deeply unserious people with those you're close to. Even when you have discussions that are more grounded, like discussing how your fwb arrangement is gonna go, you keep getting sidetracked by making quips. In that conversation it’s actually a good thing, bc it helps break up the awkwardness and ease your nerves since you can joke about it. Your dynamic relies a lot on how much you can joke around together, and the more you can joke and laugh, the more comfortable you are. This is how I feel irl but I don’t write dynamics that rely on humor too much, mostly while I like to think I’m funny 😅, it’s very hard to transcribe my type of humor bc it relies a lot on delivery. The dialogue isn't gonna be the silver tongued, drawn out metaphors I'm used to writing. The dialogue relies a lot more on banter and quick timing, and it don't flow like a perfect script, which I don't write a lot but it feels right for this dynamic. So blending the simpler dialogue with my...let’s call it ✨elaborate✨ prose, will definitely be interesting.

Second, the relationship is not as seamless as I’m used to writing. There’s a natural progression with a basis of friendship first, but like I said it’s more natural, which means it takes more time and starts from a less than romantic place. Most of the stuff on my blog is about characters that're obsessed with each other and completely head over heels for each other, or at the very least become obsessed very quickly, a lotta very unrealistic amplification of feelings bc that shit is fun for me. With these two, it takes a while for them to build up to that. Like yea you both think the other is hot objectively, but you never thought about each other sexually before, it was just like “oh hey there’s my hot friend wanna run out to the convenience store at 2am?”. I'm frankly not used to writing about people that don't immediately lust after each other so that’s been an adjustment 😅. There's also awkward spots before they find their groove and I'm not used to that, but it makes so much sense here. It makes the eventual sweetness that I’m more used to so rewarding.

Another other part is the fact that y’all don’t talk a lot during sex, and when y’all do talk, there’s not that much dirty talk or praise it’s mostly just asking if things are cool before y’all keep going. This was mostly a decision I made as a personal challenge to myself, bc normally I write people who can’t shut tf up during sex. This forces me to focus more on the facial expressions and the actions to let that do the talking, all the other ways to communicate besides words. The music is another element that I’m toying with here, trying to incorporate that more. I’ve incorporated music in my fics before a long time ago, like before I was on tumblr, so I wanna take a new angle, bc what I did before was over the top even for me. I want it to be intricate and elaborate, but still natural for y’all yknow?

If I think of more I’ll add to this, but the tl;dr is I’m stepping out of my comfort zone for this one in a really good way 😁.

okay i'm back to talk about ace quinn & parker. if this is too rambly ignore me i just don't how to stop talking. this idea came to me after some of the posts about quinn reading/writing romance novellas. at first i thought maybe it's just a fun interest that's very different from Homicide. but you know that post "one of the reasons quinn and parker get along is because all their hobbies have to do w crime" ? that was bugging me. why would quinn, murder kitten, think about romance books so much

so i created this hc of quinn gets into romance novellas because he's ace and there're parts of human relationships he didn't relate to. which, cool, perfect, not a problem. but one day he's bored on a stakeout or something and decides he wants to know more. it started as research, like people watching, and then just. is fun for him so he keeps doing it.

hardison makes flow charts for parker for navigating human interaction and eliot talks thru different dynamics of relationships with quinn. because hardison and eliot both imprint and will do anything for their people.

and then when parker finds out about the romance novellas (or i guess the smut aspect of them? idk?) she's like "i don't get this" and quinn is like "no same"

for me, when i was first thinking abt quinn reading Bad Romance Novellas [x] i was thinking bodice rippers/particularly romance novellas of. A Certain Quality/Time/Type, because a lot of them tend to be,,,,,surprisingly dark and kind of distressing with their content, and i think that the idea that these frequently awful people/people who have horrific things happen to them Back To Back To Back can, in the end, have that cheesy picturesque happy ending with 2.5 kids and a golden retriever or whatever you're supposed to want....would be VERY COMPELLING to him for reasons he refuses to explore :3

(and then also like...dramatic romance is absolutely a spectator sport when you don't participate. as an aroace who enjoys shitty dating shows because Why Are These People Acting Like That, the absurdity of the whole thing absolutely backflips directly into comedy when you're watching with an outside perspective, and while i think he would find that kind of show deeply irritating, i think the like...condensed nonsense + internal monologue for Explanation Of The Thought Process provided by that kind of book would be very fun for him?)

There's also the fact that the plots tend to be romance-arc-centric and so (like hallmark movies, which i also think he likes; unlike real socialization, which he does not) follow a very predictable formula where you can enjoy your absurd romantic escapism with the assurance that you won't get the rug pulled out from under you. You know what you're getting into and you can watch this headstrong lady be swept off her feet by this questionable garbage pirate with good hair, stress-free, unrealistically, and it's great :3

it's Work Research, but it's also getting to briefly live in a version of the world where people are more predictable, this thing he doesn't get is broken down into an unintimidating formula, and the worst people who've experienced the worst things still have someone look at them and go, "hey, wait, stick around". escapism!!

I do know that being more mentally into something makes the feelings better and more pleasurable. And I do remember talking about that. It’s interesting that it makes it better for you. I think you mentioned once something about it tying to who you write for as well. 

But yeah I could never insert myself. If I try and picture myself I get really grossed out (for more reasons than one though) and can’t keep reading. I have to have a disconnect from what I read to some level. I can sort of step into the shoes of the pov character a little bit (and I do get invested somewhat, there are some kinks that that I can’t read about with a reader insert that I would happily read in member x member) but there has to be some distance or I can’t do it. And for writing even more so.

(pt. 6) but especially if i'm imagining doing something i'm into with someone i'm sexually attracted to. and for me personally, it's usually not just looks that'll get me sexually attracted to someone. when i say i like funny people, i mean on many occasions, i can't be sexually attracted to a person unless i find them humorous. this doesn't always happen, but most of the time if you're not funny or i don't enjoy hearing you talk, i can't be sexually attracted to you.

mmmm yes, other factors can go into primary attraction other than just looks. 

(pt. 7) there's a bunch of people i know that, bc of other physical factors that i generally like in a person, i may have been sexually attracted to, but i never have been bc they're just not funny to me. so as soon as someone makes me laugh or smile or i find them humorous, even if i'm just watching them in a video, other factors about them become attractive to me and i end up sexually attracted then. this goes for some ggs where, i like them, but i can't write smut for them bc i don't find

varric: understandably, this relationship would be quite different from the one described above. there’d be much more teasing with varric, and he’s less likely to say his feelings outright. but, i think you share a devotion to your friends, and a curiosity for the world around you that’d really bond the two of you together. think of all the situations the two of you would get into together. he’d consider writing them down in his books, but he eventually figures that nobody would think it was real. it may figure as more of a friendship than a relationship for a while (and it would take a long time for either of you to realize that your feelings were romantic), but… you’d get there.

anders: i think anders would be a very different relationship again, one which is more somber overall, but punctuated with moments of levity. anders is more likely than the other two to seek your counsel, wanting to talk through his thoughts and ideas with you. i can see you helping out around his clinic, something he’d be very thankful for. and honestly, i think the line “i could win a fight but i’d rather just defuse it” describes anders’ ideal partner lmao

ANYWAY, the first thing i want to touch on is: opera singing!! josephine would love it when you sung for her, and every so often, she might like to join in

she might not get as involved with the boxing, but i think she’s the type who’d end up getting super into it? she’s being The Most Supportive Partner ever on the sidelines, cheering for you at the top of her lungs 

i think she’d just find your variety of hobbies and your adventurousness quite charming, and she’d enjoy coming up with fun dates the two of you to go on; usually based around a new hobby she’d think you’d like to try

i feel like you and josephine would have quite a wide social circle (seeing as she knows everyone), so you guys would also be constantly hosting your friends; whether it be symposiums or afternoon tea or an intimate dinner

i feel like josephine would also give pretty good advice, so you two would have an excellent back-and-forth with each other; you’d always be able to come to each other and ask for advice, knowing that you’l be heard

iron bull: idk i just feel like you’d click really well. he’s an incredibly different person to josephine, and i think he’d bring out a different side to you. first of all? boxing. he loves it. he keeps trying to get you to box with him. the chargers are already betting on it. bull, despite how he talks sometimes, is quite devoted to the chargers, so you better be ready to adopt All Of Them. i feel like bull would tease you a lot, but i you’re more than capable of standing up for yourself. the main reason i didn’t choose him over josephine is that he’s not as emotionally open as she is. otherwise, i think it’s a pretty good match! 

blackwall: i’m love him,,, he’s a bit more somber than the other two, but i think there’s a spark in him that’d help the two of you connect. like josephine, he’d find the berth of your hobbies charming (he’d always be asking you how you stumbled into them), and i think he’d be very supportive of them. while most people think he’s gruff and broody, blackwall actually goes out of his way to help others (such as making toys for the local children), and he cares a lot for those close to him. i just think he’d be a good fit, tbh.
