i'm writing a simple little round about siffrin, and i'm hoping i'll be able to actually produce the song in a timely matter bc it's mostly about the vocal harmonies (easy) rather than complex instrumentation (soo time consuming).

i started working on the lyrics on like thursday last week (so the day after i finished playing lol) and i think they're about done! and i did a rough recording on my ipad to sing the second part over and i think the round even all worked?? there's like. one pair of notes that are iffy out of all of the possible pairs of the four mini-verses. it's wild how easy i find it to sing two different parts and then they sound great layered, so much easier than instrumental layering... even though with instrument tracks in garageband i can check as i go, vs the pure vibes of just improvising two sung bits and then slapping them on top of each other?? i guess i just have the soul of a barbershop quartet...

#maybe i need to check as i go *less* with instruments and all the checking is actually pushing me back into simple chords when i need to be #getting more complex and interesting and even pseudo-clashing!!#anyway i can tell ive been getting better at songwriting bc im not satisfied with my early drafts anymore #it's excited!!#i wrote a couple of good-sounding verses and a chorus and then i was like NO. where's the thematic direction?? what exact concept are #you conveying here!! and it's supposed to be a round - a verse bridge and chorus that sound good on top of each other is NOT the #same thing as a round!!#so i kept working on it and it's so much stronger now! while a bit long for a round each piece does flow into the next without a #glaring new-verse divide - they're distinct sections but each equal-yet-different #i'm really excited to record it!!!#silverstarschat

the older i get and the closer i am to reaching 30, the more the people around me try to deny me my age. it’s a constant ‘oh you’re just turning 29 again teehee 🤭’ or ‘dont tell your SO that, he’ll leave you for a younger model 😉’ and i just???? hate it?????????

i spent my entire teenaged years fighting for my life. i crawled through the deepest pits of my depression to cling to the promise of a life beyond that pain. i was so convinced that i was going to die young, that i would never see the grace of my age starting with a 2, let alone 3.

so im going to turn 30, and there’s not a damn thing anyone can do to stop me from loving it.

my prof just explained on the syllabus that he’s included more points in the class than we needed to pass, so we could skip up like?? 20 small assignments/quizzes/participation!! and still get a very high grade!!

the idea was that we could focus on assignments that played to our strengths - only do the participation stuff if we like to talk out loud - only do the quizzes/readings if we want to do the class remotely - only do online discussions if we like to talk and share opinions but struggle with anxiety in class ect.

and that’s cool enough but then he pulled up DnD character sheets with drawings he’d done of these hypothetical student player classes and how our various accessibility needs could be gamified to ‘max out’ different aspects of the class to get high grades and like!!!!!

hell yeah!!!! let’s treat accessibility in higher education not just as a necessity but as the fun, engaging, and creative aspect of learning that it is!!! I love this!!

Sure have!#I forgot how long it takes for Chimera Falin to come into play.#I still really love my 'better drawn' art of her - unfortunately it was several weeks too early for the anime only folks.#Slowly getting the hang of drawing Laios. I don't know why I struggle so much but I am getting...somewhere.#Meta time: God damn I love how the chimera shows off the expertise and gap between Kabru and Laios.#The truth is: they are both *right* and they are both *wrong*.#This creature is a combination of monster and human and they only have the skillset to deal with one of those.#Kabru goes for all the human vitals - but she isn't human.#Laios tries to approach her as a monster and is struck down by the humanity he sees in her.#She is something new that defies what they *both* understand about the world. advice i think we should tell children is that when adults say stuff like ‘now that i’m an adult i get really excited about stuff like coffee tables and bathrooms and rugs etc’ they don’t mean ‘and now i don’t care about blorbo and squimbus from my childhood tv shows anymore’ bc your average adult still loves all the same pop culture stuff they always did; they just have a greater appreciation for the mundane as well. growing up just means you can enjoy life twice as much now. you can get really excited about a new stuffed animal AND about a new kitchen sponge. peace and love
