good evening, the wax pen and salad combo rn keeping me humble.i have only heard one (1) song from this album, so this is a raw dog. lets get into it, one tab for tumblr and the other for lyrics

starting with ancient dreams in a modern land, obviously the statement piece of the first half of the album since it is the album name. such a savvy intro, you know hot people are attracted to this kind of instrumental. she knows what she was doing naming the album after this song. it just screams confidence, independence and self love all laced with the sort of inquisitive energy to make you want to feel how she does (i do the same thing, thats why i know this song already). i love the dreamy contrast of the bridge

venus fly trap WOW. this is fucking fantastic??? her flow is insane, like the way she will accelerate during bold, !!!! lines, u kno? i fucking love this im going to throw up everywhere. this is so black and white from electra heart, its so beautiful to see her growth while maintaining her unique sound. i adore the sound and lyrics for this one a lot

i like the sequence of notes she hits in the intro to highly emotional people, it really goes with the lyrics and how you feel reading them, but it also provides this really cool form of pathos. something about that pitch creates a feeling of sincerity. its like "its okay to be vulnerable, you need to confide in others, you're loved" like its a really beautiful message, and i really appreciate her dedication to representing mens mental health in her songs like this.

new america is a very very insane switch up from the song before? UHHHH HER SEGWAY INTO THE NEXT LINES... her fucking voice is so god damn insane. this albums theme is definitely social injustice within america. that makes sense too w the album name. love the cohesion, good work marina.

pandora's box i have high hopes for just based on the name and the first lines. i read them before the song changes to try to guess her approach. and see this is not what i'd expect. ok no this.... is painful? wowww the high note for "stacked against the odds" like that screams representation of a crying voice crack and i fucking love it. jesus christ this one is personal i have literally endured this and her voice captures the rollercoaster of emotions you go through when you're this hurt. jesus fucking christ this one is good.

OHHHHHH THIS IS SO ME. I LOVE YOU BUT I LOVE ME MORE? pink convertible is suuuch a cunt name. i feel like this has to be up beat bc the last song was like heavy. oooooo ok the rhyme scheme in the lyrics is interesting in this one. oh what. so i like the lyrics, not too sure on the presentation. it's definitely like "think about my lyrics" instrumental. like the minimal instrumental until the dreamy chorus is so rad actually. the minimal instrumental is when its like serious and sad. but its dreamy when its addressing that we are living in a fantasy while everything around us suffers for it. okkkk no i like it i like it.

"He said, he would kill me, which is kinda funny. But-" Damon made a wide gesture "he stole my daylight ring. And he wouldn't give it back until I stop feeding on innocent people - and kill them."

"So, you truly let your younger brother blackmail you like that?! Wow... I don't know how to feel about your dieting or your new path. Or whatever this is supposed to be."

"You don't like me killing people either", Damon maintained, while taking another sip of bourbon.

"Well, I don't", Y/N agreed, took a step forward, stole the glass from the vampires hand and put it on a small table nearby. "But I don't believe in forcing as a method to get people to change their minds. I believe that change for the better must be an intrinsic motivation," she added quickly, giving the vampire an innocent smile.

Damon's lineaments suddenly turned from annoyed to curious. "Any suggestions, little one?" The vampire raised an eyebrow and a little smirk showed up on his lips. On the one hand, Y/N blushed over the nickname, Damon called her.  On the other hand she felt skittish looking forward to making a deal with him. Not only a deal. It's far more than a simple agreement.

It's Y/N, actually giving Damon a part of her. The red elixir of life. She was about to give him total control of her body and she not even for a heartbeat doubt that Damon will use it against her.

"Actually... Yeah. There's something on my mind." Y/N said chewing on your lip. "I could open up a vein for you. I mean, you could feed on me. And since you have my permission, there's nothing for anybody to have objection about."

Damon frowned and gave her an incredulous look. "You would do that for me?" The vampire couldn't believe, he understood correctly. Why would Y/N want to get involved with him feeding on her? What's in it for her? Damon tried hard to connect the dots, but he wasn't able to. It all seemed to make no sense. Y/N wouldn't have an advantage of that. The vampire hesitated, pinning his dangerously blue eyes on the girl in front of him.

"Is it so suspicious of me, that I'm trying to help my closest friend?" It pierced Y/N's heart, realizing, Damon's trust in her was rather fragile. "Never mind", she waved the pain away and forced herself to keep her composure. "I only had a hasty idea; you really don't need to fee-"

Suddenly Damon appeared behind Y/N, using his vampirism. "Shhhh", he whispered softly. "I never said, that I don't want your blood. I'm thinking about if we are going to cross a line? Blood sharing can be very personal..."

"It can be? It is personal already. Believe it or not - I'm not gonna offer my veins to all the vampires of Mystic Falls." Y/N rolled her eyes, her arms folded on her chest to point out the indignation she felt right now.

"Kinda sensitive today, huh?" Damon gently stroke a strand of hair behind her ear, Y/N could hear this smug smirk through his words. It was a true 'Damon thing' to do. "I didn't mean it like that, princess." He sighed; unsure if he should agree or not. Damon didn't want to act selfish towards Y/N. He compelled a lot of girls for the purpose of drinking blood in the past. He literally used them as long as they weren't too annoying - and then he acted like they have never met. Damon Salvatore couldn't imagine this scenario with Y/N. They've been so close, the vampire couldn't stand loosing her. The offer was risky, but it also could bring each other even closer.

Damon tried hard to avoid any serious attraction between Y/N and him, afraid of messing up. Indeed, he found himself thinking, and even dreaming, about Y/N more than he wanted to admit. She was smart and had this special sense of humor, the vampire adored so much. She was the only one, who could make him feel good no matter what. Needless to say she had that glimmer in her eyes, when she did something she truly loved. In these moments she was even more pretty. Y/N was hard to resist.

And maybe now he could have her like nobody else. At least the vampire gave in. He wanted her blood. He wanted her.

Y/N flinched by the feeling of Damon brushing her neck with his lips.  "Oh, Damon", she gasped. "Bite me." Y/N almost begged for the vampire's teeth breaking through her skin. Damon loved the sound of her husky voice. In less than a heartbeat he turned into his vampire shape. "If you insist", he grinned devilishly, ready to place his teeth on to her skin.

Suddenly Y/N made a slight move forward with the intention to interrupt her friend. "Did you change your mind?" Damon was close to switching back to human, overwhelmed by a mix of emotions. Mostly a lack of understanding, but also a little of disappointment and even anger. Was Y/N playing games on him? While Damon Salvatore was sorting feelings, Y/N turned around, standing now in front of him.

She was so close, not even a piece of paper would fit between them.

Y/N slightly exhaled breath, her eyes darting between the vampires eyes and lips. It was the first time Y/N saw him like this. The icy blue of his eyes, she loved so much, has turned darker. Purple veins appeared under his eyes; Y/N couldn't help herself. Damon's appearance fully intoxicated every fibre of her being. Her fingertips found their way gently brushing over his dark purple veins. She felt heat and softness, while tracing one of them.  It took her a few seconds to get out of trance, realizing what she had done. "Sorry", she murmured with a voice barely audible. "Don't apologize, little one." Damon tilted his head, his lips curled up in a self-assured grin, exposing a perfectly white vampire fang. "I never saw you like this before, you loo-"

"... look like a monster?"

Y/N shook her head. It was nothing like that. Yes, he did look unfamiliar. And she should be scared under normal conditions. Instead, his look hit her in an unexpected way. He looked hotter as a vampire, if it was even possible. 

Y/N cleared her throat, looking up at Damon. "I feel... attracted to you."

"So nothing's changed", Damon teased, raising his eyebrows. The girl in front of him softly slapped him on his shoulder; which was only possible because the vampire permitted. "You are always so full of yourself." She smirked, feeling more confident being to something, they have had been so many times before. Granted, he was terrifying accurate, but she wouldn't serve her feelings on a silver platter.

"I'm still into it. You can bite me; feed on me. I only needed to see you before..." 

A shockwave of electricity flowed through her body the second Damon took her hand and pulled her close.

"I'll be careful", he promised, nuzzling his head into the nap of her neck. Damon once again placed his lips on her soft skin. 

Suddenly a harsh pain made Y/N feel like in a kind of haze. She flinched and let out a groan at the same time, unintentionally biting her lower lip. 

During Damon embedded his fang deeper and deeper, she started feeling dizzy. Her hands searched for the vampires upper body, finally wrapped around his neck. She needed him to lean on. A narrow trickle of blood flowed down her neck. Let Damon feed on her felt like flames licking up every fiber of her body. 

With every passing second Y/N could feel her control slip away. Her body was now firmly pressed against Damon's, like she would want to merge them into one.

Damon noticed her staggering, wrapped his arms around her waist, supporting her.

Bloodlust already messed up the vampires mind, so he continued feeding on Y/N.

A tempting moan escaped her lips, but she didn't care to cover up. Y/N's heart was racing, her eyes flattering. It was almost as if he was about to push her over the edge, but in a different way. "Mmm, this...this… feels soo weird... and so good...", she whispered under a shallow breath.

"So, fuckin' glad..." The vampire exhaled a deep breath. 

"It... You made me feel good. Strange, but good", Y/N appeased and flushed over the memory. "Maybe you got a little carried away, but I don't mind. I wouldn't trade the feeling for anything."

Y/N quickly interrupted herself, before she could reveal too much.

However, Damon used his vampire skills, noticing that Y/N was hiding something from him. "Isn't there anything else you want me to know?", Damon asked without taking his eyes off her. Y/N shifted and flushed even more. "It's unfair. You use your vampirism to get everything out of me."

"Well, if that were the case, I could easily compel you." Damon shrugged and found back to his smugly self. "Tell me, what you are hiding". He said in a seductive voice.

"I wanted to get lost in you."

Her confession sent shivers all over the vampires body. At first he could not decide, how to handle this. "Are you sure that's what you want? I could really hurt you..." Y/N hummed.

01. Rose by Sam Nazz I can't pinpoint in words exactly what makes this song so magical. Sam's vocals are absolutely incredible and the melody melts my heart. The lyrics are still cryptic to me, but somehow still hold a lot of meaning. For whatever reason, listening to this song has helped calm me down on multiple occasions this year and has helped me through a lot. 

02. Dark Red by Steve Lacy Wow this song is....amazing. The lyrics on this song hit hard for me and talk about dealing with anxiety in relationships, "What if she's fine / It's my mind that wrong." Steve's vocals are executed so well and I love the way the arrangement flows. There's a whole lot of amazing ideas packed into this three minute long song. This is going to be a bop for years to come. 

03. Lake by Flossy Clouds First of all, I want to say that this entire album is amazing. As a whole, it lives in a very special sonic world all on its own that I love to revisit, especially when I need to step back from the things running through my mind. This song in particular is a highlight that blends a borderline trap drumbeat with cycling acoustic guitars and emotional auto-harmonized vocals. Lyrically, like the last song, it touches on anxiety in relationships, but ends on a hopeful note, "But I remember when we're on the road / It doesn't matter where we go"

04. Footscray Station by Camp Cope Everything about this song is so special. The way this song unfolds rips my heart apart and makes me feel some kind of hard to pinpoint nostalgia. This song is a bop through and through. It has an infectious groove that bursts into pure sonic fun during the impossible-to-not-sing-along-to chorus. It's easily one of my favorite songs lyrically that I've heard in a long time, "Take time to figure it out / I'll be the one that sticks around" hits me so hard every single time I hear it. I've cried to this song more times than I'd like to admit, but it's also helped calm me down more times than I can count and I'm just so thankful that it exists. Also the music video might possibly be the most uplifting music video ever created. 

08. Divinity by Jelani Sei Before I go on, you all should buy this EP immediately. Trust me, it's so worth it. The first time I saw this band live I was absolutely blown away. I'd never listened to their recorded material before, but I was absolutely floored by their performance and immediately fell in love with their sound. Listening to this song on headphones is such a special experience. The production is just so creative and well executed. The actual arrangement is so groovy with so many moving parts, but that all fit together into a cohesive whole. I love this band with all my heart and can't wait for them to become huge because they truly deserve it. 

09. Gone by Queen Moo A staple of the Connecticut music scene, I've seen this band play live more than anyone else. On their sophomore album, Mean Well, they capture their own special brand of punk that twists and turns with an almost infinite amount of catchy hooks packed in. "Gone" is a highlight for me because it ebbs, flows, and builds so effortlessly both musically and lyrically. If you want a truly unique experience, treat yourself and dig into to this whole album. I promise it's worth it.

  10. Bronxville (Gasoline Fantasy) by False Priest Holy shit. This song should be a an alternative rock hit immediately. This should be blasting as you're flying down a desert highway with the setting sun as a backdrop. I'm gonna admit that I've listened to this song 10+ times in a row because it's so damn catchy. Everything is mixed perfectly with each instrument having just the right amount of punch. The lyrics deal with feelings of restlessness and that creeping feeling we all sometimes have of wanting to leave a situation, whether physically or emotionally, "A full tank of gasoline / Is really all you could need."

12. Interstate Vision by Lomelda The lyrics to this song capture something special that a lot of artists try and fail to bottle in a song. The chorus is simple, but with Hannah's vocal delivery it becomes extremely powerful, "Can you feel me now? Do you know me yet?" I feel a whole lot of random nostalgia while listening to this one. It's a magical song. 

13. Fit to Be Found by Harvey Trisdale This song is really special to me. It's the first single from my friend Jeremy's new band, who you might know as one of the songwriters in the band Furnsss (and his can't miss hit "Where Did My Pets Go?). We've been friends since 4th grade and he's one of the most talented musicians I know. Fit to Be Found is just ridiculously catchy and the dynamic builds throughout the song are perfect. Keep an eye out for the full album next year because it's going to blow you away. 

14. Jacuzzi by Cheem Bop bop bop bop this is a major bop. Cheem's sophomore LP, "Downhill," is definitely one of my favorite albums of the year. Short songs packed to the brim with an incredible amount of extremely well-executed musical ideas. The chorus of "Jacuzzi" is catchy as hell, there's an awesome musical breakdown, the two vocalists (Sam and Skye) have some amazing vocal interplay, and the production is spotless. Lyrically it hits hard because it touches on dealing with mental health while trying to maintain a relationship, "You don't even know, the pressure that keeps me so low / Hold me close, I'll float away if you let me go." 

15. Anywhere by Fuvk This song is from an album that's technically two EPs put together in one. These collections of songs are both heartbreaking. The production, especially when listened to on headphones, is all encompassing. Everything feels so close and painful words pour out over gently plucked guitars and instruments that pop in and out in these beautiful arrangements. "Anywhere" is the opener and it immediately sucks you in. It's best experienced while lying on your bed staring at the ceiling.

Tarawera ultramarathon 2017: part 2

My race reports often lean more toward 'technicolour unicorn dreams on high speed acid trip in the forest' than race report. Everything comes flowing back in HD of a brilliant day. Here's a go at something a bit different like say, a traditional one. Note 1: I can still do the unicorn version in person with lots of hand waving and beaming. Note 2: I tried and, what can I say, my memories of race days are infused with that fizz. Training: This was good. I knew 4-6 months out that I was chasing the 62k distance. This was my fourth year of the Tarawera Ultra. They offer a 62, 87, 102 and relay options (where each person can do about 20, 30 or 40k). I had done my first 100 last year, and done well, but it took a long time recovering. I had key events to lead me through to this event the last six months like fast 5k timed runs (waterfront or parkruns), fast half marathons, endurance events (60k on trails / 42k on trails). My training was generally 50-70k a week with high weeks of up to 100k. One of the most thrilling long runs was running 44k of Lake Waikaremoana, a four day great walk, in 9 hours. I did speed work throughout the year. I'd usually especially focus on this speed in the last 6 weeks. In January I had an Achilles scare so erred on safety and health over sharp speed work. 15-20 minutes of core strength work daily the last month. Summary: a balanced plan of events,speed, distance and core strength all helped. Benchmarking:  My 5k time was OK. It was about 15 seconds off my best, but fast enough. The regularity of the waterfront 5k runs (highly recommend in Wellington, run by Scottish!) helped a little bit with confidence. I eased off these in the 2 weeks prior with safety around possible injury. Training with: Squadrun for the last 18 months; Chris for some weekend trails; Dena for fast trails (less than usual as our ultra train / taper / recover planning was out of sync!); WoRM and Wellington runners (thanks Ewa for making me do core!); I’ve joined Wellington Scottish. Taper week:  Wheee! Usually taper means I'm constantly hungry, and coiled like a spring, and just want to bloody well run. This time I treated it as a luxury. I looked after myself with good food (especially protein), a lot of water, good sleep, and got excited for what was ahead. We had a couple of precious days at the beach with my Grandad beforehand. Crucially, the weekend wasn't about me at all. Chris was running his first ultra. This shifted all focus to his experience. My mind was quiet. Chris: You read that right! Chris had won a competition with Organic Muscle Run (OMR) and Wild Things for an entry into Tarawera with 12 days to go. The long run that we had done together in Waikaremoana a month previously helped enormously in his training confidence. That had previously been his longest run (both distance and time) ever.  We talked a lot about Tarawera in the week previously. I could help answer questions and we were honest in the moments of terror. The day before: We had a blissful sunshine walk in the morning alongside treasured time with Grandad. All restful. We had organised our drop bags already. We headed the short trip to Rotorua, there mid afternoon, checking in at the expo and sorting ourselves. It was abuzz! We the lovely folks of Organic Muscle Rub (OMR) who gifted Chris his entry as first time sponsors, and Julbo who set me up with rose tinted sunglasses. Saw many beautifully familiar faces. We wrestled ourselves away from the party after a couple hours, went to the supermarket, had ourselves in the holiday home eating dinner by 5.30pm. The rest of the evening was chilling, as much as you can chill while sorting a few final logistics. Packed our race day kit. Laid it all out. Got breakfast stuff ready. Chugged back water. Set multiple alarms. In bed by 9pm or so. The hours before: 4.20 wake up call. Breakfast (oatmeal, banana), black coffee. Electrolyte drink (always nuun) Shower, sunscreen, anti-chafe, get dressed, check and double and triple check my gear, make sure my water is packed, check and double and triple check Chris’s gear with him.  Get in the car, go 5.35 at the main start line. Yahoo with cheers for the longer distances, see them off Get in our shuttle buses to our start line 6.40 at our start line Line up Brief moment of confusion when we were told a lead runner was coming through (from the 100k) so we all parted like the red sea going HOLY FAST HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE. We were 25 kilometers from where they had started an hour previously. As it turned out, it wasn’t possible and we were confused, but it sure lightened the mood. 7.05 GO GO GO Leg 1 to Okataina: 16k, 97 minutes A solid uphill, and back down again, all runnable on well maintained grassy, hard soil, gritty or forest floor trail. Mostly tree covered with occasional peeks out to the lake. Jim Walmsley floated past at the end of this leg. I barely heard him at my shoulder as he cruised by. He was a delight to watch run, making it look effortless. I was happy with the pace here and blasting into the first aid station, with a hug for Kerry and cheering back at the volunteers. This is also known as ‘WoW’, Western Okataina Walkway.   Leg 2 to Humphries: 9.5k, 73 minutes The first of the technical stuff, a few hills, and more hills than I remembered. Whoops - sorry Chris! - I texted Chris at this stage to wish him extra super duper well and with an emphasis on stable feet. I hit a good trail pace here again. I always love seeing the oasis of Humphries aid station. This is also known as Eastern Okataina. Leg 3 to Tarawera outlet: 7.5k, 63 minutes I kept my steps careful through here. I loved every bit. It is plush, beautiful single track. The cicadas were absolutely roaring. It was heating up. This section last year was pretty hard, coming at about the 50 - 58k mark of 100. This year it was on fresh legs and lovely. Leg 4 to Tarawera falls: 5.3, 36 minutes Zooooom. This is a delight. After a couple of hours of thinking pretty hard about footsteps, this is beautifully groomed flat, wide trail. It is spectacularly beautiful: looking off to the side for the river, waterfalls and everything being very alive. The signage was top notch. I had a companion through here who was happily following behind me on my pace. The number of times I *almost* hit my head or *almost* lost the path or *almost* tripped over a tree trunk had us laughing a little but also remembering not to take anything for granted. Time to be smart on the nutrition, and keep my feet up. We cruised along into the Tarawera Falls aid station. I collected spare gels from a drop bag, remembered fond memories of picking Chris up in previous years and charged up the hill onwards (helped by seeing a friendly lady pretty close behind me). Leg 5 to Titoki: 9.4k, 59 minutes Kerry told me to attack this section at marathon pace 'smartly'. Smartly, I wondered, does he mean cleverly or briskly? This successfully distracted my legs from the demon hill, and then another hill, and then maybe another one, while I pondered this. I jest. It was luxurious, wide, open trail. I got some speed through here at a 5:20 to 5:40 pace or so, slowing slightly on the attack of the uphills. I kept an eye on my heart rate monitor through here to monitor based on effort. This kept me honest on the flat (fast) and on the downhill (faster). Leg 6 to Fisherman’s: 5.3k, 34 minutes There was some fast trail through here and then also - surprise! - the Tim Day special of the new hill trail cut into the riverside. This came with some possibly curse related words while I scrambled around on steep slopes. Go creaky legs, go. It then dunked us into the river crossing of clean, cold water. I kept running afterwards with an empire of pebbles agitating in each shoe. I thanked my previous self for tucking the ‘just in case’ shoes into the emergency drop bag. That would be a definite change. The wonderful aid station crew got me sorted with my bag, shoes and socks. HUGE shout out to the phenomenal aid station volunteers. I was in, and out, in a minute flat. I felt like I was walking on air in my fancy dry shoes.   Leg 7 to river road: 5k, 29 minutes So fast! So flat! What is this luxury! I had set myself my target of doing this 10k in an hour (Fishermans to River Road; and on to Kawerau). I got on with the business of doing 5:30 to 6:00 pace. I love this section at the end of a long run. I have a lot more energy, confidence and chase in the last 10k of an event than I do in the first 10k. We learn things about ourselves in life through the run. Leg 8 to Kawerau: 5k, 29 minutes Zooooom. I waved hello at River Road but didn't stop. This final 5k was a treat: a bit of flowy single trail, a bit of wide 4wd trail, a high bridge, then 2k across fields to the final Firmin Field. I think I overtook some people here. The ladies ahead of me had stayed far, far ahead but toward the end I continued gaining on some guys. It made a big difference in knowing this section, being able to plan for each section. I knew coming off the bridge the distance we had to go; then I remembered the familiar rhythm of the track and fields all joining up to one another. I sped up. I could hear Margo on the mike. I ran, and I ran, and I ran, and there we were. Finish line, part 1: MARGO HUG! She sang me happy birthday. I hugged Ali, and everyone I could, and then parked myself in the Squadrun tent lying horizontal on squashy grass in the shade. Thanks for the L+P and the love, Ali! I was a bit on edge during this time stalking Chris’s live tracking results. The last I could see was him passing Tarawera Falls at the 38k mark, hours earlier. I decided to head back into the forest to find Chris and run him in. I set my watch, starting running in the direction I had come from, then (ouch) pretty quickly slowed to a walk while cheering and yahooing like crazy for all the finishers in their final 400m, 500m, 600m, kilometre, etc. Every second person asked how far it was to go, probably also wondering what I was doing. And then - OMGOMGOMGOMG - I know that Chris! I jumped up and down like crazy. I cheered. I turned around with him, and we started running the last 1.5k together to the finish line. Finish line, part 2: This is all Chris. He ran so strong in those last few minutes. I ran in front of him, leading the way (mostly correctly) and counting down for him in how many hundred metres there were to go. In all his years of supporting me in these things and pacing me: this is all him. It was his day. He did it. There is a photo where he’s running at high speed over the line. I’m off to his side, cheering at full noise along with the finish line crowd. It makes my heart leap every time I see this picture and barely able to speak. 

The course: 62.5 kilometres (between 62.5 and 64 depending on watch) 1600 metres elevation up 2000 metres elevation down   3 bonus kilometres with Chris :)

Nutrition over 7 hours: 5x energy gels (all GU) 1x small energy bar (packaged) 1x bliss balls (packaged) 2x bananas (from aid stations) 2x ginger beers 3.5 to 4L water Placing: Emma. 7 hours 2 minutes. 3rd female 30-39, 7th female overall (out of 131 amazing ladies), 26th overall behind the guys (out of 316 extraordinary people) Chris. 9 hours 10 minutes. 27th male 40-49, 84th male overall (out of 170). That’s exactly mid way! And for a first ultra - holy heck!   Recovery: Oh my legs. This is still a work in progress. Lots of drinking water, eating well, sleeping well, quiet and slow movement, compression gear when I remember, OMR (organic muscle rub) is helping, sports massage at Back to It, more moving slowly. In the week since Tarawera perhaps I’ve run about 25k. This might be more than recommended. The ‘recovery mile before bedtime’ has been especially good for the soul though, and it’s a treat to keep things moving. I may also be doing a half marathon tomorrow as a 2:00 pace runner in what I hope to be a sensible, achievable pace. This may not be recommended in a smart recovery but it sure will be fun. And that was our day. These shared moments shine brightest. There is magic in knowing what is possible of ourselves, and of ourselves with others. There was an extraordinary community out there that day. We build our communities and fill our lives with things that are most important. This is one of them. Tarawera is special. We return with purpose for the amazing event run by an incredible, thoughtful, diligent, organizing team. This is world class. If you ever dream up a mad plan of running an ultra - or perhaps a relay leg of 15 to 20k - do it, do it, do it.
