The party continued, the room filled with laughter, clinking glasses, and the hum of conversation. Anna and Liam were making their rounds, thanking guests and basking in the joy of their engagement. Lando and Y/N found themselves in the same group, surrounded by mutual friends who were conspicuously trying to get them to speak.

"So, Lando, tell everyone how you had a great race last week," George said, trying to break the ice as they all stood together.

"Yeah, it was a good one," Lando replied, his eyes flicking briefly to Y/N before looking away. "A lot of hard work paid off, all those endless hours and sim racing. I guess it was all worth it."

"Y/N, how's the business going? I saw your latest campaign. It's amazing!" Claire chimed in, trying to steer the conversation.

"Thanks Claire!," Y/N said, smiling politely. "The team has been incredible. We’re launching another project next month that I’m really excited about. You remember what I told you about when we were in school? The whole collaboration? It's finally coming to life!"

The tension was palpable, each word carefully chosen, each glance weighted with unspoken history. Their friends exchanged nervous glances, hoping for a breakthrough.

"Y/N, didn’t you go on a date last week?" George asked innocently, completely aware unaware of the brewing storm.

Y/N stiffened, her smile freezing slightly. "Yeah actually I did. It was a nice evening. He wasn't busy on his phone with calls all the time and.. yeah it felt good."

Lando's head snapped up, his eyes narrowing slightly. He didn’t say anything, but the judgement was clear on his face. He turned to George, a sarcastic edge to his voice. "Must be nice to have so much free time to date around. Not everyone can afford such luxuries. Or have that much time to waste."

Y/N scoffed, her eyes flashing with irritation. Intentionally avoiding speaking to Lando, Y/N Addressed Clare, "You know Clare, some of us manage to balance our personal lives and careers. It's called multitasking."

"Multitasking, huh?" Lando said, still addressing George but clearly referring to Y/N. "Seems like some people are just good at juggling multiple things at once and not really excelling at anything in specific. Some of us like to be the best at what we do."

"Yes, some people are good at multitasking because they can handle the pressure," Y/N shot back, looking at Claire instead of Lando. "It's amazing what you can accomplish when you’re not distracted by racing around in circles."

The group fell silent, the tension thick enough to cut with a knife. Anna, sensing the brewing conflict, stepped in quickly. "Alright, alright, let's not turn this into a sparring match. It's a party, remember?"

As the night progressed, the tension between Lando and Y/N only grew more palpable. They found themselves once again in the same group, their friends trying desperately to keep the atmosphere light.

"So, Y/N," George started, attempting to steer the conversation to safer waters, "any exciting projects coming up that you can share with us?"

Y/N glanced briefly at Lando before replying. "Oh, plenty. We're working on something really innovative, but I can't reveal too much yet. Unlike some, we prefer to surprise people with our results, not just talk about them."

Lando's jaw tightened. "Yeah, surprises are really fucking great. Especially when they actually live up to the hype."

Y/N smirked, turning to Claire. "Well, some of us don’t need to hype everything we do. The results speak for themselves."

Lando’s eyes flashed with irritation and he directly addressed the woman he used to love. "Funny, I remember you being quite the hype queen back in the day. Always making a big deal out of the smallest things, could never get you to calm down."

Y/N’s smile was icy. "And I remember you being quite the show-off, needing constant validation. Guess some things never change."

George, sensing the escalating tension, tried to intervene. "So, Lando, any plans for the offseason? A vacation, maybe?"

Lando shrugged, keeping his eyes on Y/N. "Yeah, thinking about it. Might go somewhere quiet, away from all the noise and unnecessary drama."

Y/N crossed her arms, addressing Claire instead. "That sounds nice and boring. I always preferred places with a bit of life. Too much quiet can get boring. But then again, some people thrive in dull environments where it's all about them."

Lando raised an eyebrow. "Boring, huh? I’d say focusing on something meaningful is far from boring. But I guess when you’re always looking for your next distraction, it’s hard to understand."

Y/N’s eyes narrowed. "Meaningful? Like endlessly chasing after something you can never quite catch? That sounds quite bloody exhausting to me."

Lando leaned in slightly, his voice low and challenging. "Maybe it’s about the journey, not just the destination. But I guess you’d know all about giving up halfway, wouldn’t you?"

Y/N bristled, her temper flaring. "At least I know when something isn’t worth the effort. Sometimes walking away is the best decision."

George, desperate to diffuse the situation, stepped in. "Alright, enough of this. Stop making this about you."

Lando and Y/N fell silent, their gazes still locked in a silent battle of wills. The group around them exchanged uneasy glances, unsure how to navigate the palpable tension.

As the night wore on, it became clear to everyone that the wounds between Lando and Y/N were far from healed. Their snarky comments and pointed jabs were a stark reminder of the unresolved feelings still lingering between them, making the night a volatile mix of celebration and unspoken conflict.

Liam nodded, watching Lando walk away. "They’ve got a lot of unresolved issues. Maybe tonight will help them start to deal with it."

Do you think Barack Obama was a good president?

For the most part, yes. The fact that he got elected in the first place (and in a landslide) was nothing short of miraculous, but those of you on the younger side don't remember just how FUCKING FED UP the entire country was with Dubya and his bullshit. It didn't really matter if you were Democrat or Republican. Everyone hated him, especially when he went out in 2008 by causing a generational economy-crashing cataclysm. For him to go from a 91%+ approval rating just after 9/11, to the low 20s by the time he left office, shows just how sick and tired everyone was with him, and how we fondly (ha) imagined that he would be the worst American president in our lifetime. How very innocent we were.

The fact that Obama, a black guy with the middle name Hussein, who had not even a full term as a US senator as his only real meaningful political experience, could come in there and win is a feeling that honestly is nothing like anything anyone had experienced in politics before. I remember staying up with my family (I was studying abroad in the UK) over phone/Skype until the race was called for Obama around 3am, and one of my classmates ran outside the flat in delirium yelling "OBAMA WON!!!" The pictures of elderly African-Americans just crying their eyes out on that night, and the way they still look at Barack and Michelle now, is special. Yes, of course the reality didn't totally live up to the promise of that moment, but man, for a little while there, it really felt like we had changed the entire paradigms on which this stupid flawed country had been built from the beginning. I can't imagine we'll feel like that again for a long, long time.

Obama managing to save the economy (as noted before, it's a theme that Democratic presidents have to come in and clean up the ungodly mess left by Republicans) and pass the Affordable Care Act, even as watered-down as it was from what he wanted, were two very significant accomplishments. Where he fell short, however, was in his dealings with said Republicans, and obviously not all of this was his fault. Obama was intensely conscious of his position as a political newcomer AND that he was a black guy. The level of racism, vitriol, and sheer ugliness that he (and his family) faced from all quarters was (and is) yeah. We got the Tea Party, the "birthers," and the rest of the radical-right lunatics out in full force, and Obama was aware that he was going to get blamed for everything and then some. He also wanted to think that the Republicans would throw a hissy fit and then get over it and work with him. They didn't. Not for one single day. Not on anything. Just because he was a Democratic black guy. That was all it took, and they stuck to it even as Obama kept reaching for the football and thinking that THIS time, surely they would be reasonable. They weren't. On anything. Ever.

Likewise, the Democrats were caught unprepared by the special election for Ted Kennedy's Massachusetts senate seat, which they lost (taking them from a filibuster-proof 60-seat majority to 59, after which the Republicans accordingly filibustered everything and the Democrats didn't push hard enough to stop them/change the rules). They also seemed to just assume that hey, the country voted for Obama in 2008, they'd clearly do it again in 2010, and they didn't really hype up the ACA or campaign for it or anything like that. So they got shellacked to the tune of 60+ House seats lost in 2010, and then lost the Senate in 2014, allowing Mitch McConnell to flat-out blockade Merrick Garland's SCOTUS nomination (who Obama picked to fill Antonin Scalia's seat) and get away with it. Obama was also not nearly as assertive about nominating judges as Biden has been, though it's also the case that Trump hadn't yet packed the benches with an endless conveyor belt of unqualified uber-conservative hacks. Once again, I think this is a reflection of Obama's overall political inexperience and the fact that he felt he had to "play nice" or get pigeonholed as the "angry black guy," which he then did anyway. So it really was a catch-22.

Online Leftists always like to yelp about "Obama ordering a lot of drone strikes!!!", as if they a) know anything else about American foreign policy, b) are at all interested in criticizing Trump for using EVEN MORE (by like... a lot, and nearly starting WWIII when he killed the Iranian general with one), or c) ever consider the overall ungodly fucking mess that Obama was ALSO left with in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm not about to defend or agree with that either, but it's disingenuous (as per usual with them) to suggest that that was the only thing Obama did during his presidency and/or that he should be judged on that alone. They also like to pretend that he faced no racism at all, that he could have just "codified Roe vs. Wade and didn't!", that there were no double standards in how he was treated by the press, the political establishment, and the American people, and so on.

So: overall, yes, I think Obama had good intentions and tried to do the right thing. He failed at certain major parts of that, both because of the Republicans and because he didn't have the experience to challenge them or know how to work around them, and because he was in an utterly impossible position. The intense white backlash that gave rise to Trump showed that contrary to what anyone liked to think about Obama's election heralding a "post-racial" era, it was back and more ugly and public than it had been in a long time. It was also surprising that our first black president was a Democrat, and not a Republican shill like Tim Scott and/or Clarence Thomas, who has been allowed to rise in the party only because he faithfully repeats all the maxims of the (white) GOP ruling class. So the sheer strength of Obama Derangement Syndrome, which persists today, has to figure into any appraisals of either what he did or what he could have reasonably been expected to accomplish, and I don't think people get that.

Gate's Always open au

Based on Roderick's "If you’re an Usher, the gates are open. Period." line from episode 1.

I don't have the brain power rn to fully flesh it out. But the main idea is that the Usher siblings just lowkey invade each other's houses. Not so much "get out of my room" but like "bring some chips on the way over." The gates are open to family and family only.

Like Freddie is older than Tammy. Which means he probably moved out first. Tammy, still in high school, hanging out (taking refuge) in her brother's apartment to be away from their dad for a bit. They love the man, honestly, they do, but sometimes he's a bit much.

Vic, for now the baby sister, hopping between Freddie's place and Tammy's place when she's in some fancy university (assuming she met the family when she was like early 20s as its implied she was around for a bit before Leo, Camille, and Perry showed up) and sleeping on someone's couch during finals week because one of her siblings lived closer to campus.

Leo, for now the baby brother, spends a lot of time at Freddie's place because Freddie is eager to have a brother. (Not to say his sisters aren't great, but finally, there's another boy in the family.) Tammy's place is where he'll go to cook because she has the best kitchen to cook in and she doesnt mind it because he's not terrible. Vic, he goes to bother when the media hype around him is too much and he just wants to hide for a bit. (And she'll let him stay, she remembers what that was like.)

Camille, the baby sister and baby of the family for now, spends a lot of time at Leo's place. Leo's the closest one to her age and she feels safe with him. She's more intimidated by the older kids. But then she's over at Freddie's to occasionally hang out with her one year old niece (And Camille isnt the only one who babysits). She's going through Tammy's closet to borrow a white blazer cuz Tammy is the only sibling who dresses in muted tones most of the time. She's over at Vic's place watching shitty reality TV because Vic has the best TV at the time.

Then finally, Perry arrives. He's sixteen and he's almost a decade younger than his closest sibling age. But he's at Freddie's house and Freddie is teaching him to drive by doing circles in the driveway. He invades Tammy's house occasionally to steal her fruit because it just tastes better as does her tea, and Tammy's place is the best to pull an all nighter. He's casually breaking into Vic's place because he needs help with science homework and while the teachers could be bought, he really doesn't want to look stupid in front of the family like that. He'll be over at Leo's on the weekends playing video games with because Leo is normal and it keeps him grounded a bit. And then he's sometimes at Camille's because he doesn't know how to dress fancy and she's helping him pick out outfits for school events while coaching him how to campaign for things like Homecoming King and whatnot.

Like the Usher siblings who will invade Freddie's house for bowling. They invade Tammy's place to cook. Vic's place to do projects because she has a lot of space. Leo's apartment gets invaded for game night and Monopoly is banned. Camille is used to the sight of her siblings in her place because she has all those screens and horror movies with the siblings are always a delight. Perry doesn't get invaded as often as the others, youngest sibling perks, but if he is invaded by his siblings it's mostly just to see what he's up to and also because he's hungover after a night partying.

I am once again on the "it's a good thing they didn't love each other or it would hurt a lot more if they did, but imagine if they did" agenda.

so i went to my first ever concert and...(storytime!)

Generally speaking, I don't like the concept of concerts. For the longest time, I've never had any interest in attending one. I've been disillusioned by the idea of them as a whole, with no disrespect to people who attend them. Even before the global pandemic that shut down live events, ironically, despite being on my headphones/speakers 90% of the time, I don't like crowds and extremely loud audiences. It also doesn't help that many live artists nowadays are just not good stage performers or lipsync or in some cases, aren't as pleasing to hear as the studio mix that I could easily play on Spotify. My mantra, which has always been my mother's as well, was "Just listen to the CD." This also explains why I don't really buy CDs anymore and stick to streaming instead.

It's now 2023, and as the old adage goes, things change. I've become a K-pop fan, live events are back, and there's this push to have me leave my house a lot more than I should. I'm no recluse like Bruce Wayne, but I certainly don't like going out when I could be relaxing and playing video games in my spare time even as an adult. Growing up made me realize that there's plenty of things that I should do, even at least once. I'm nowhere close to dying—I think so at least—but I definitely felt the need add some spice into my life and have some fresh memories to keep now that the pandemic's over.

Anyway—I've never been to a concert, and my older sister's only concert experience was seeing Fall Out Boy when she was in her teens that she desperately begged mom to see, and she was all the way up into the nosebleeds. Now obviously I can't go and see IZ*ONE anymore (sadblob) and every big act carries extremely large demand for them. My sister failed to secure Blackpink tickets for their tour even with the membership presale, and the experience was so frustrating and damning that she stopped listening to the group for a while. There's so many things that can go wrong even as early as ticket sales, so I understood that any concert I wanted to go to should be absolutely worth it.

It was during our vacation back in February when IVE announced that they would be bringing their fan concert around Asia, with June as the set date. I can remember seeing it trend on Twitter while waiting in the car; the hype was fucking real. I knew I had to be there by any means necessary. The campaign began as soon as we got back to our hotel. They said yes.

One thing I want to say is: fuck online ticketing. It sucks, big time. Anything that can go wrong, can and will go wrong. Yet some part of me was so uncertain and wanted to test the murky waters again. I got in touch with a third party way before they announced the ticket selling date, and I was so fixated on the success rate of the seller, against the advice of my family. It wasn't until two days before ticket selling that I was given a proper talk, saying that it could be a potential scam and that I should camp out the night before to get the best chances. Ultimately, I gave in and settled at a hotel close to a hotel without many fans. They ended up being right. I ended up first in line and got the best package for a little over $200. It was so difficult to keep my composure the moment I got the tickets all the way till I got home.

Fast forward to a little over a month. The family also booked me a nice hotel close to the venue days before the show so we wouldn't have to face insufferable traffic. I couldn't sleep the night before the show—not because I was excited and all, but I was genuinely feeling restless. It ultimately didn't matter as my mood and overall energy never diminished once I woke up 2.5 hours after finally sleeping.

You just know it's gonna be a good day when the first sign is making new friends out of nowhere. At breakfast, I befriended two Japanese tourists for some reason. My smile was wider than it normally was. It's so weird greeting people with amped up optimism that at times, it felt like main character energy, which was typically uncharacteristic of me. Mind you, I only had 2.5 hours of sleep.

An hour later, venue time—at least close to it. The concert organizers and local fanclubs held a fanhub that was already filling up the floor with a line that stretched around in a loop. So I bailed and went to the cafe across the street from where the actual concert would happen to get free shit. Saved myself almost $25 dollars from buying the I'VE IVE album because of a cupsleeve event being organized by a remnant of WIZ*ONEs. A big W if you ask me.

I even met up with some of my readers too! Cray and Nomad, if you're reading this, it was great finally meeting you. It was awesome to fanboy and connect with guys I've been talking to online for the past two years in person.

Afterward, we went inside an hour before show start, and people were already screaming like they showed up and it was just staff bringing out towels and water bottles. Then the lights went out and holy shit, everyone lost their shit. It wasn't a sold-out show but the audience's energy made it feel otherwise. They were singing instead of following fan-chants.

It should surprise no one that everyone killed it. Yujin is the 4th gen ace and no one can tell me any different. Wonyoung was absolutely fantastic in crowd control and drawing the audience in and lived up to the center title. They added both title tracks from I'VE IVE and changed up two of the cover songs for the unit stages, otherwise the set remains mostly similar to the ones in Korea and Japan, the only difference being new outfits and alternate color ones.

I'm gonna dedicate this section specifically for Liz. Consider me bias wrecked. She was not only an elite vocalist but she performed like the rent was due, holy shit. Blue Blood (my favorite stage of the night) in particular really gripped me and never let go. I was genuinely shook at how terrific she showed out in the performances. If anything, she's the 2nd best performer of the group after watching the footage.

There was an emotional moment at the end as the show was winding down. The members were lined up for the group photo when a fan video played and half of the members cried. Leeseo, Rei, and Yujin all cried and it was a wholesome scene. Rei mentioned how this was one of their first performances as a full group following her health hiatus and she was moved by the overwhelming support of the fans. Wonyoung also promised they would return—hopefully later than sooner I'm not loaded at the moment—which invalidates the stupid argument international Dives were having on Twitter. The girls felt their support, cried their heart out, and that's all you need to know.

After the event, there was a hi-bye session for all VIP ticket holders. They sent everyone else out, so it started 20 minutes after the actual ending. They kept reminding us that we weren't allowed to record or take photos of the event, but apparently someone at Starship was filming the whole thing? So there's a possibility that I might end up on YouTube, heh. Since we were on the left side of the stage, we were among the last to go up and meet them.

Holy fuck dude. I wasn't nervous while watching everyone else go up and meet IVE, but once the staff told us to form a single line and we slowly made our way around the stage, my heart began to go buckwild. You just don't know what to say or do when that moment comes—like how do I make this memorable or at the very least, not cringe? One thing I do know was that we all agreed, as a section, to walk past them as slow as humanly possible; five seconds was not enough. I was so unsure of what to do as I slowly walked up the steps to the point I was practically mouthing 'Jesus take the wheel' or else I'd melt into a puddle, lose my shit, do something stupid, or maybe all of the above.

Jesus Christ. They looked so fucking flawless. You honestly couldn't tell they were sweaty and exhausted after performing for 2.5 hours.

From left to right, it was Rei, Gaeul, Wonyoung, Yujin, Leeseo, and Liz. Liz was the first member I met, and she completed my half-heart gesture. From there, my brain blanked for a good three seconds. My mouth was still uttering 'Kamsahamnida' but that scene seemed to stick long past that moment. I couldn't register Leeseo, Yujin, and Wonyoung's reactions—I knew they were smiling and waving—but then my brain suddenly went back up as I met Gaeul and Rei's eyes right as we made our way out. I went to the bathroom and uttered a relieved, awestruck 'Holy shit.'

God. I don't know if I will ever move on from such an experience. I'm still thinking about the interaction as I write this little thought diary, and my mind keeps replaying the interactions with Liz, Gaeul, and Rei. All of them had lovely smiles and were so happy even though they clearly were gassed out, and I was in utter shock trying to comprehend what had happened. Famous streamer IShowSpeed met his hero Ronaldo the same day as the concert and if you've seen his video, he practically plays out all the emotions I wanted to feel after meeting them. I've not played any K-pop after the concert aside from English versions of songs and most certainly I've avoided IVE songs aside from rewatching my concert fancams because I'll just melt into a giddy pile of goo watching it, telling myself 'I was there.'

My sister only listens to Blackpink. She agreed to take me to the venue provided I buy her tickets, so this was a consolation or redemption of sorts after failing to secure tickets for the Born Pink tour. She's a Dive now. She couldn't stop raving over Wonyoung's beauty but she eventually found all the members to be cute and beautiful. It feels great to finally share a sweet moment with my sister despite the turbulent relationship we have.

In an ideal world, I'll be watching Le sserafim and the other IZ*ONE members when they perform/arrive here. Of course, there's many obstacles in the way, and I'm not loaded with disposable income. Seriously, these tickets were more expensive than a veteran group and they're supposed to be rookies! But the entire experience—the energy, the performances, and the ending—made every coin I spent worth it. If this ends up becoming the only concert I attend in my entire life moving forward, I'm glad it was an unforgettable one.

Gaeul, Yujin, Rei, Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo, thank you for making my year and giving me a core memory I can fondly look back on. I fucking love you guys.

Exalted Secret Santa Journal 2023

Hyped to be doing this again! It's my second go at it.

Entry 1: Spears-to-Billhooks Nazmiya Architect Exigent of Lookshy Pronouns: She/her Age: 24 (been an exalt for three years) Ht: 9'6"

Description: When the last architect of Lookshy spoke out against the rampant corruption of the General Staff, they were assassinated for their insurrectionist behavior. The tyrants in charge hoped to get a more obedient and pliable replacement, instead they got Nazmiya. The hulking giant of a woman quickly got to work organizing an underground resistance movement and revolting at every opportunity against her would-be handlers. Lookshy is a city of soldiers, and under Nazmiya's banner they would fight for their freedom, and they would win.

Anima: In our game, the city-flag for Lookshy had a stylized white lotus silhouette. As the city's architect, Naz's anima mark depicts this logo, but with a messy purple scorpion overlaying it (Naz's moniker in the rebellion is "Queen Scorpion").

Anatomy Notes: Damn girl she huge. Take every opportunity in your composition to emphasize this fact.

Motifs: Purple & Silver; white jade; construction materials like bricks, rebar, and sandstone; scorpions, like the big kind that crush prey with their pincers; graffiti and spray-paint, the rebellion she leads is very Jet Set Radio inspired; bigness, hugeness, monolithicness, Naz is literally the pillar of the community.

Entry 2: Tendaji Greenwich Twilight Caste Solar Exalt (Bureaucracy Supernal) Pronouns: She/Her, Xe/Xyr, or They/Them Age: 23 (been an exalt for a year and a half) Ht: 5'8"

Description: My first ever exalted player character! Her game has just wrapped up a month ago, so I'm feeling very fond and nostalgic for her. She went from being a nervous and timid little nerd to a confident and self-actualized little nerd. I couldn't be prouder of her. The outfit and hairdo in the first two photos are her current appearance, and you can use the general color scheme in the third drawing.

Anima: Instead of appearing on xer forehead, Tendaji's castemark is actually situated on xer left eye, which turned teal upon xer exaltation. They manifest the Sun's command over the cycles of night and day, which essentially means they have time-powers. Tennie doesn't just build things, they push forward the hands of time to a project's completion. They don't just move quickly, they skip through time in a series of glitchy leaps and teal after-images. The nature of their exaltation is a bit overwhelming, and the more they use their powers, the less control they seem to have over what they're doing, slipping into a trance-like state and babbling in First Age tongues.

Anatomy Notes: Tendaji lost xyr right arm in a battle against an Abyssal, and eventually got it replaced thanks to the help of a necrosurgeon and xyr Liminal boyfriend (who donated its arm for grafting). The references in the artwork above depict how it should look, however now the vitiligo patterns have now begun to spread to further parts of Tendaji's body. Another note that hasn't been included in the color refs is that a few of her locks have become stark white due to some mental trauma involving ghostly possession.

Entry 3: Mokshi Bodhisattva Compassion No-Moon Caste Lunar Exalt (Carpenter Bee Spirit Shape) Pronouns: She/Her Age: 23 (exalted two years or so ago) Ht: 5'2"

Description: An NPC from Tendaji's game, Mokshi is xyr Lunar counterpart. With the campaign she's in being over, Mokshi has now gotten to train in a lunar enclave to learn sick martial arts and begin her own journey of self-discovery. She's also scored a 9-foot-tall girlfriend (Nazmiya) so basically life is going perfect for her.

Anima: Like Tennie, Mokshi's caste mark doesn't appear on her forehead, but rather on her eye. Specifically her left eye, which turned bright yellow upon her exaltation (mirroring Tendaji's heterochromia). When using her essence in displays of lunar power, the classic silver is overpowered by ambery-gold hues of honey. At higher anima levels, an amber moon hangs behind her like a halo, and spectral yellow bees swarm like a hive.

Anatomy Notes: Mokshi has a pair of little bee wings on her back. The wings and the exoskeleton of her hybrid from are primarily glossy black like a carpenter bee. Her left arm as suffered significant burn scars after fighting a dragonblood, and the hexagon tattoos on it have been damaged slightly. Mokshi is fat and curvy, so if you're drawing her please try to depict her body type accurately (no skinny Mokshi's please!). She wears pretty pronounced eyeliner and eyeshadow, and has glossy black lipstick. Feel free to give her a lil' fang or pointy teeth or two, as a treat. She has moonsilver knuckle-tats that say "BUZZ" and "KILL".

HUGE UPDATES FOR JUNE AND BEYOND--PLEASE READ

Hello to all my Queers and Dears, Streamers and Dreamers, I've got exciting news for you! In case you didn't see, I've set up a fundraising campaign for #TransLifeline! The Trans Community is under active attack from the extreme political right, and we have a responsibility to support them. Not everyone is equipped to be out on the streets protesting--myself included--so this is a great way to show support without compromising your own limits. Plus, you'll be able to unlock some fun rewards, making me do some fun things while streaming!

During this month, I'm continuing to play Deponia on Saturdays 3 to 5 Eastern Time and The Great Ace Attorney 2 on Thursdays 5-7 pm (all in Eastern Time), though sadly my Tuesday streams are on pause as I have a class Tuesday nights. The great news is, by the time I'm free tuesday nights again, the Ghost Trick port/re-release will be out, and we'll certainly get right on that!

Plus, as a bonus for #PrideMonth, on Fridays at 11 am ET, we'll be playing Tell My Why, a game by the original developers of Life is Strange, which stars a twin brother and sister who share a psychic bond-- and the brother is a trans man!

I've also been talking with some Youtubers i really admire who might make it on my stream at some point in the future, but nothings set in stone yet so I don't wanna name them.

Plus, I'm writing up some video essays, and I'm hoping to upload one a month going forward. i've been wanting to do this for quite some time, and I'm really excited to finally get some video essays out there!

🐬 Which character(s) did you originally have in mind when making this tournament?

The characters I had in the examples during submission were Moonshine Cybin (Not Another DnD Podcast), Toad (Mario), Stanley (Spiritfarer), Todd from Mario (Drawfee), Apothecary Gary (Amphibia), and Danielle Barkstock (Dimension 20). I continued to think of more characters myself as submissions went on and submitted them, but I of course got one submission per character just like anyone else. Rip Morphean Mushroom.

🧢 Were there any characters you predicted would win that actually ended up loosing?

Most of the characters that were defeated by underdogs! I expected there to be a few campaigns to bring underdogs up but there were several who just won without any propaganda! Poison Mushroom Cookie, one of the first characters with multiple submissions, getting beat out by Shumi, a character with one short submission that I added pictures off of google to pad out their description was NOT something I expected!

I don’t know if I can pick a favorite, but one that stood out to me while making the polls was Jade Leech VS Night Cap (PvZ). Pre-Competition they were the two contestants that I actually did some research on cause they interested me and I was so sad one had to go Round 1. Rest In Peace Jade, your fans still love you. (He got so much propaganda too! I was expecting a more even final count.)

No new fandoms that have pulled me in all the way, but it did get me to start replaying some Plants VS Zombies!

Gah it’s so hard to pick! I don’t want to play favorites lmao. I’ve already hyped up Jade Leech enough because he got so much support but still lost. I love the Apothecary Gary propaganda because I love Amphibia. Toad Berry. Honestly it might still be just the submitted descriptions for Muttshroom.. I had never heard of this lad before he was submitted but I’m in love now and was heartbroken when he lost.

Maybe it seems like I’m playing favorites but he’s already lost, but I was truly amazed to find that Jade Leech, the sexy anime boy version of Jetsam from the Little Mermaid (I assume Jetsam anyway, since he starts with J and his brother Floyd is F for Flotsam. Speaking (to @widebrimmedhatsblog ) about reading explicit fic in public reminded me of my favourite NZ General Election 2023 interaction, but there's some back story to start...

At GE2023 I campaign managed for my friend who I had semi-bullied into running for the Greens. I absolutely love my electorate, have a good handle on the politics, but am utterly disinterested in being a politician myself. So I drove her to every debate and run all our strategy and events.

When you go to *all* the events, you run into the same people over and over again - generally your counter parts. One of the people was an odd young man - maybe not even old enough to vote? - who was always in attendance of the TOP candidate. We (perhaps a little meanly) called him the wanna-be staffer.

Now, for context, TOP is, IMHO, a bullshit party. It's one of those "we think you can be radical from the center" and "to take progressive ideals forward you have to partner with the left *and* the right" (aka pander to and green/pink wash the very people who are trampling all over our rights and the environment). (For further context, NZ runs Mixed Member Proportional, MMP, so small parties are in Parliament and Government).

So I didn't have a very high opinion of the candidate or the volunteer, politically.

At the last debate of the campaign - at this point we've been at 40+ community events across 4 months many of which I've been lurking in the back visibly bored (I could perform a one woman show of all seven candidates talking points by like event four) - everyone is doing the fake-nice good luck on election night, what are you doing for it oh a party blah blah blah (this is why I am not the politican) and this boy comes up. He has tried to tell me before that TOP and Greens should be more aligned (at the time I was a national office holder so did have some soft power) and I'm gearing myself up to be like bro, I've told you, I literally lead the anti-capitalist, "radical left wing" faction, we are not going to agree politically.

And instead he asks what fanfic I've been reading. Turns out, I have not been subtle in my persual of AO3 throughout the debates, and he's been hyping himself up to ask what fandom I'm in. So instead of having a (to be completely honest, mildly condescending on my part) rehash of why we don't align politically, I get to have a delightful conversation about fandom, and community, and no just because "I'm an adult now" (lol turns out he is 18....just) you in no way have to leave that part of yourself behind, keep enjoying things loudly.

I also got to teach him how to use the filtering system to find new stuff, and preach my three rules of reading:

A. If you finished, you kudos

B. Don't limit yourself to finished fic, experience the joy of AO3 notification emails, and

C. Try to build your commenting muscle (still working on this one myself)

Anyway this is mostly a self indulgent ramble about how reading fanfic in public and visibly and vocally being a part of fandom can lead to good things.

・❥・explanation: this is suchhh a comfort read for me. the first time i read it was giving into the hype for sure and it absolutely blew me away with how much i enjoyed it! i remember reading it all in one sitting and messaging my best friend just being AGHAST at how much i was enjoying it just from how cheesy the synopsis sounded. and it WAS cheesy, don't get me wrong, but it was also heart-breakingly sweet with just enough angst to keep you engaged. i think i've read it about 3 times now and it's an easy 5-star for me!

envy - a book i want to live in

Trump: 'I Had God on My Side'; 'We Would Not Be Here Together'

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump delivered an emotional call for peace, prosperity, and a return of the American dream in his official acceptance speech Thursday night at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

"The discord and division in our society must be healed," Trump said in an acceptance speech live on Newsmax and the free Newsmax2 streaming platform. "As Americans, we are bound together by a single fate and a shared destiny. We rise together. Or we fall apart.

"I am running to be president for all of America, not half of America, because there is no victory in winning for half of America.

"So tonight, with faith and devotion, I proudly accept your nomination for president of the United States."

Buildup to Trump

Before Trump spoke, Kid Rock delivered a musical introduction, shouting Trump's "fight! fight! fight!" and "Trump! Trump! Trump!" and offering up a mix of his hits, including "American Bada**."

Next, UFC founder Dana White introduced Trump, and the crowd heard the familiar notes of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless The U.S.A."

"President Trump is literally putting his life on the line for something bigger than himself," White said. "And he's willing to risk it all because he loves this country. And I know he wants what's best for the American people — all American people. I know he's running for president to save our American dream."

Gratitude

Within his convention speech, Trump referred back to his weekend brush with a would-be assassin's bullet at a rally in Pennsylvania.

"Let me begin this evening by expressing my gratitude to the American people for your outpouring of love and support following the assassination attempt at my rally on Saturday," Trump said.

He wanted Republicans, his supporters, detractors, and open-minded voters to take note that he is willing take a bullet for them. And he recounted the event, he said, so many people have asked.

"I will tell you exactly what happened, and you'll never hear it from me a second time, because it's actually too painful to tell," he said.

"Despite such a heinous attack, we unite this evening more determined than ever. Our resolve is unbroken, and our purpose is unchanged — to deliver a government that serves the American people," Trump said.

"Everything I have to give, with all of the energy and fight in my heart and soul, I pledge to our nation tonight: This election should be about the issues facing our country and how to make America successful, safe, free, and great again."

Hulk Hogan, Hype-Man

There were, even before the speech, other moments sure to be memorable to those at the convention hall. Among them, famed wrestler Hulk Hogan came out as a hype man, delivering an impassioned speech and doing his trademark move, ripping off his top, to reveal a Trump-Vance campaign shirt.

"Even though you guys are real Americans, you better get ready, because when Donald J. Trump becomes the president of the United States, all the real Americans are going to be nicknamed Trumpites because all the Trumpites are going to be running wild for four years," Hogan said. "So with the power of Donald J. Trump in all the Trumpites running wild, America is going to get back on track.

"And like Donald J. Trump said, America is going to be great again.

"After everything that's happened to our country over the past four years and everything that happened last weekend, I can no longer stay silent," he added. "I'm here tonight because I want the world to know that Donald Trump is a real American hero. And I'm proud to support my hero as the next president of this United States."

It breaks my heart to say this, but given what we now know about who controls the Star Trek franchise, and it's actors, that would mean that Levar Burton falls under that purview. He's always had a very steady career. Then he auditioned for Jeopardy, after campaigning so hard for it, and...flubbed it, messed up. It didn't seem like something he would mess up at, given so many years of film work. But he did, and we lost a chance of getting an intelligent, black host of Jeopardy. We instead got stuck with the very hyped up Jennings and media darling of Jewish ancestry, Mayim Bialik. I'm beginning to think Levar Burton messed up his own audition so the other hosts could win. Steve Harvey doesn't count for shit. He does so much for his overlords, you have to wonder if the man will ever walk straight up, again. Every night time talk host, pretty much every game show host. Now, Hollywood Gay Mafia leader, Ryan Seacrest is doing Wheel of Fortune. The Israeli loyalists, in this country, who run most of the media don't want a black host of any game or entertainment, unless they're a complete tool and/or Queer. It's no wonder I don't watch any of it.

It's clear, now, that at some point in history, professional black men, probably as a result of being let into the Freemasons, turned on their own and began helping those who want to destroy or keep down, black communities. Ashley Graham was born two years before Sheva in 1984

Sheva arrived in the USA at fifteen and was taken in by Adam Benford who was already running in political circles.

Seeing as Adam and First name unknown Graham go into office together with Adam as VP I'm assuming they had some sort of connection prior to campaigning?? ( I'm Canadian i unno how that shit works so leave me alone lmfao )

This means that if that's true, it could be that Sheva and Ashley knew each other from the time they were both teenagers and could have also attended the same high school with Ashley two years ahead of Sheva, and eventually the same university

This means the two girls would have had opportunity to spend enough time together to become friends :) I'd like to think bestfriends.

Ashley gets kidnapped around the time that Sheva turns eighteen and she was completely worried sick for her.

When Ashley was returned and likely going through a lot of different emotions -- Sheva stayed over plenty of nights for sleep overs and planned plenty of outings that were lowkey and low hype to help her friend unwind while she recovered from the incident.

I like to think Ashely and Sheva still keep in contact every now and again and go absolutely crazy whenever they meet up in the states while Sheva is visiting. ;w;

Eddie had a crush.

A big, fat crush that all of his friends, even his uncle, knew about. He thought about it all of the time. He wanted to go on dates and take care of someone and be fucking soft. How strange was that?

He had a crush on you.

You were the prettiest girl he’s ever seen, the kindest smile and eyes that he wanted on his. You were never mean to him, never called him a freak like everyone else did. In fact, he’s heard you defend him multiple times.

“You don’t even know him.”

“He’s a good person.”

“If you actually knew him, you would never say that.”

What’s even worse is that you’re even kind when you try to be stern, your voice soft despite the conviction in your tone. He thinks you’re really, really cute.

He considers you a friend, but he knows he wants more. He wants to kiss you and hold you and walk around with his arm around you so the assholes at school stop looking at you.

“Dude, you’re staring again,” Gareth snaps Eddie out of it.

“Shit, sorry. What were you saying?”

He tries to pay attention this time, he really does, but he hears you laugh and he has to turn his head to see it. It’s sweet, the soft cloud of cotton candy if it was a sound. God, he has it so bad.

“You should just tell her,” Gareth doesn’t bother with his story anymore.

“She won’t feel the same. No way.”

“Do you hear the way she talks about you? And when you two are around each other. Come on! It’s so obvious.”

“Maybe.”

The two boys make their way to Hellfire, Eddie listening to Gareth go on and on about how he should just be honest and talk to you, but he can’t. He’s too scared. You’ll turn him down and then he won’t get to talk to you at all. He prefers the moments he has with you already than that.

The night's campaign goes as usual, some yelling, some laughing, and Eddie having way too much fun getting to DM for it all. It’s his favorite thing to do, an escape, really. And things only got better when Dustin, Lucas, and Mike joined. He saw himself in them, especially Dustin, and they were great additions.

It goes as usual until the door opens and everyone’s heads turn to see you standing there.

“Oh my god. Sorry,” you turn around and shut the door, embarrassed as you lean against the wall.

Eddie’s eyes are wide, and he doesn’t say anything, simply stares at the door where you just stood. He’s itching to get up, to go after you and talk to you and tell you it’s okay, you’re welcome anytime.

“For god's sake just go ask her out,” Dustin says what everybody’s thinking, though he says it in that tone of his that makes him sound annoyed, which he probably is, at this point.

Eddie’s been talking about you forever and they’re all sick of it, as great as you seem. The whole of Hellfire agrees with Dustin, chanting ‘do it, do it’ until Eddie shushes them and finally stands and pushes his way out the door.

He startles you, and you startle him. He wasn’t expecting you to be standing right next to the door with your head in your hands muttering something to yourself that sounded a lot like ‘stupid, he doesn’t like you’ and he can’t stop himself from hoping you want him to like you. You weren’t expecting anyone to come out and look for you, and you can’t help but stare at Eddie while he does the same to you.

You’ve liked him since you met him. He’s energetic and charming in his own, unique way. The way he spoke drew you to him, the way his eyes were always shining and sweet like a puppy. His long hair and his rings and tattoos. He was, to you, perfect.

“Oh. Hi,” Eddie says it quietly, like he’s nervous.

“Hi. I’m so sorry for walking in, I forgot Hellfire was today,” you’re looking down, feet kicking back and forth against the ground.

“No, no. It’s okay.”

“Okay.”

You wait for him to say something else, because he looks like he’s going to, but he doesn’t. So you turn to walk away with a small ‘bye, then.’

“Wait!” He stops you, a hand around your wrist. You like the way it feels when he touches you, even the slightest bit.

“I wanted to ask you something.”

“Yeah?” You look at him, eyes roaming around his face and the way he licks his lips and takes a deep breath before talking again.

“Do you want to maybe go out sometime.. with me?”

“Seriously?”

He’s even more nervous now, because he doesn’t know if you’re surprised that he asked you out in a good way or if it’s negative.

“Um, yeah. I really like you. A lot, and I want to take you on a date if you’ll let me. I’m sorry if I just sprung it on you but I had to get it out.”

You surprise him this time by taking his face in your hands and forcing him to look at you.

“Hey. I like you too. I’d love to go out.”

“You would?”

“I would,” you nod.

He can’t stop himself, he kisses you then. Your hands stay on his face and his hold your waist. He feels like he might be dreaming because you’re kissing him back and it’s even better than anything he ever dreamt of. It’s broken up by your smiles and giddy laughs, but it’s amazing, nonetheless.

That night, after he kissed you some more and said goodbye and left you his number, after he finished Hellfire and tried to stop himself from blushing (and failing) when they all cheer after finding out a date has been secured and feelings have been returned, he goes home the happiest he’s been.

Wayne notices.

“What’s got you all smiley, boy?”

“Got a date.”

“With that girl you never shut up about?”

Eddie nods, his face heating up because he never realized he talked about you that much. He thinks it might only get worse after tonight. He knows how you kiss and he won’t ever forget it. The smile is still on his face.

“Yeah, she likes me, too.”
