So hey
Tumblr media
Habboi released a new mod on April 1st, 2024.
As you might be able to tell, this is the hell-map variant of the Ultra Silence map which served as the capstone for the Cavum/Cavus-Puella-Timmy arc of the Moleman ARG, in the same vein as White Tower Hell and Wet Mushroom Hell
He's even made a trailer for it, the madman.
youtube
...and just like White Tower Hell, this one looks like it's going to have some story in it.
Tumblr media
This is from the description of the mod and the trailer, which is a big ol' flag for Timmy Day 2-related material.
Which... I'm going to try and tackle. If I want to dissect anything about this one that'll be required reading material.
Anyways it's been a hot minute since I've played any AHIT so wish me luck lmao.
Call me Dante because I'm about to enter this inferno

I started playing 999 bc the gf said it wanted to know my thoughts.
Problem: I thought it was a time sensitive puzzle game.
It is not. It's a visual novel where the time limit is... largely unimportant. Which fucked with me v bad because the crux of about 90% of the characterization in it is characters talking at length about random shit.
I'm talking about a girl that literally goes on about conspiracy theories re:the titanic while you have 9 hours grand total to get the fuck out of the saw trap they're in. Or a girl insisting on talking her way at length through the ship of Theseus before her point.
And, appearantly, if you treat the threat of death as serious, you will fuck up the endings. If you tell people to get to the point, they just. Dont. And you fuck up endings.
Which is a problem bc if I immerse in a story and the story is trying desperately to make me give a shit about the tension from the time limit, it shoots itself in the foot by repeating things and having a five minute conversation about pseudoscience. Which is frustrating.
I have since found, after a break, that to enjoy it I kinda. Have to not actually be immersed.
That is perhaps a clunky way of putting it.
See, I've been in survival "move or die" situations before. Some of those were with other people who made wildly impractical decisions and it pissed me off.
So I go in blind and the situation is saw on a boat. The characters drag their feet on everything. They talk about ahit that doesnt matter. A huge chunk of the narrative is devoted to shipping POV boy with Surprise Childhood Friend Girl. I want to win the saw game and live. Because I, were it me, would be trying to not die.
But we're put in the shoes of a dipshit, in a game that deeply is more concerned with infodumping about the writers wikiwalks and sitting through awkward flirting than the premise.
Essentially we're in the pov of the guy that thinks with his dick in a horror movie.
Which is frustrating.
So instead of trying to immerse myself, I have moved to watching the internals tick along. No clue what matters and what doesn't, solving what the fucks going on does not appearantly matter, and neither does maintaining tension for more than a solid three mins.
I have gone from immersion to "watching Dipshit and Co bumble through" and it's more enjoyable like that.
Which is terribly sad. Because I can tell if I didnt have my life experience I'd be able to settle in and roll with it. The timing and fucking up the tension would still piss me off but I'd probably be fine.
Idk its like... I feel bad because the whole ass polycule got hype about it and I'm sitting here like... it's fine. I feel like if I wasnt me I'd be having more fun.
Idk. I'll see when I finish it.

Prompt 11: Nightmares
A/N: Posting late because I forgot to post yesterday, lmao.
-------
Sirius…
It still felt like a dream sometimes. It was childish, but Harry kept hoping that Sirius would reveal himself from around the corner and start singing some song that would basically amount to 'I got you good, didn't I?'
But he didn't, Harry thought as he sipped his hot chocolate. It had been over a month since Sirius had died, and surely by now, he would have given up the jig, right?
His thoughts were cut off when he heard the sounds of footsteps coming down the stairs. They were light, so it wasn't any of the Weasley brothers, and this person managed to avoid the creaking stairs, which only meant that it could be Ginny.
Sure enough, Ginny stepped into the Living Room of the Burrow, making her way into the Kitchen where Harry was sitting. Her face was blank, and a lot paler than usual, the reason for which Harry knew very well.
She'd had a nightmare.
"Hey, Ginny," Harry said.
She jumped so far back it was all he could do not to burst out laughing. He managed to control himself though.
"Hey," she muttered.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"Nothing," she lied, looking away.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Harry asked gently, not wanting to scare her away. He didn't know what it was about her, but he felt amazing when he was around her…
"I just said it's nothing," Ginny replied.
"And I know you're lying," Harry sighed.
She looked at him, seemingly trying to find something. "I don't need to tell you anything," she said finally.
Harry nodded. That was fair, especially considering what arse he'd been to her over the years. He didn't even have the decency to start a conversation, and then he forgot about the most traumatising part of her life…
"I'm sorry," Harry said before he could stop himself.
"What for?" She asked, frowning.
"For forgetting," Harry replied. Well, there was no turning back now
"It's alright," she said casually as though he was just apologizing for missing a pass in Quidditch.
"It's not alright, Ginny. I-"
"I'm not mad because you forgot," Ginny said, giving him an odd look that he couldn't figure out. "I just wished that you would have said… I don't know, something after Christmas last year."
His guilt came back in full force, and once again, he felt like the worst piece of ahit on the planet. "I thought that you didn't want to be reminded of it again."
She laughed harshly, a sound he was surprised to hear from her. "I can't forget about it no matter how much I want to. You weren't reminding me of anything I don't keep recalling almost every day."
He swallowed. "I'm sorry for not coming to you then," he said.
"Like I said, I'm not mad at you," she said. "You've got better things to do. I know."
"I don't," Harry said. "Or, well, I didn't at the time."
She shrugged and went to the sofa, seating herself down on the edge near the empty Fireplace. Harry made another hot chocolate and took it to her.
"Here," he said.
She looked up at him, and gave him a small smile as she took the drink. "Thanks," she said.
"You're welcome," he replied, sitting down on the armchair near the other end of the sofa.
A good ten minutes passed, both of them peacefully, and quietly sipping their drinks when Ginny spoke. "I dreamt of Dad dying."
Harry blinked and it took him a moment to reply. "What happened in the dream?" He asked, knowing that she probably didn't want another 'I'm sorry'.
"I basically saw what you described," Ginny said. "Except… it wasn't from the eyes of the Snake. I was standing there, unable to move, or even look away."
He hesitantly placed his hand in hers and gave it a gentle squeeze, prompting her to snap her head to him. He didn't have anything to say, though, so he just took another swig of his drink, pleased to see that she hadn't taken her hand back.
"I see Sirius die," Harry said a while later. "It plays like a loop in my head. I'm sick of it."
"Have you tried Dreamless Sleep?" She asked, squeezing his hand this time.
Harry sighed and ran a hand over his face. "It's addictive," he said. "Other sleep Potions are too, and the ones that aren't addictive are ineffective. It just doesn't go both ways."
"Yeah. I thought so too, but still…" Ginny trailed off, looking at the Fireplace.
"What do you usually do when you have a nightmare?" Harry asked after a few minutes.
"Sit in my bed, try to breathe, then I try to sleep again," Ginny said. "If I can't, or don't want to, then I finish my homework, or learn a Spell, basically anything to keep me occupied. You?"
"I just go down to the Common Room and sit there," Harry muttered, feeling a bit stupid now. He had a Dark Lord after him, and this is what he did with his time?
Ginny didn't seem to find it odd though, she just nodded and said, "That's what I used to do. But then… I don't know, I felt like I could do more… so I did."
They sat there for a few more minutes, discussing their nightmares and finishing their drinks. "You know," Ginny said. "You're not bad company. The way Chang said it, you were an absolute Troll."
Harry groaned. "Don't remind me of that, please," he said, making a face.
"That bad?" She asked sympathetically.
"Yeah," Harry said, shuddering. "It was abysmal."
She laughed. "That's my entire relationship with Michael. It's a blessing he was in another year, I swear."
Harry laughed. "I still don't get why you said yes to him. He's such a…" he trailed off, unable to find the words.
"Snob? Cry baby? Ravenclaw?" She listed off, ticking each one on her fingers.
"Yes!" Harry exclaimed, causing them both to burst out laughing.
"You know," Harry began a few minutes later. "If you wanted a… partner or anything, you know, for keeping you company at night… you can come and find me."
"Keeping me company?" Ginny repeated with a smirk. "Is that what you call it?"
Harry furrowed his brow before he understood what she meant. "No!" He cried, causing her to bat his hand and shush him.
"Do you want to wake everyone up?" She hissed. "Merlin, I was just kidding."
"Sorry, sorry," he whispered, grimacing. They waited for a few more minutes but no one seemed to have heard his little outburst.
"They could sleep through a Caterwauling Charm, I swear," she said, causing him to snort.
"Bet the Fat Lady could wake them up with her singing," Harry said.
"Maybe," she admitted. "But then I'd have to hear that too, and I'd rather chew my own foot off," she replied.
They both laughed again, and Harry realized this was the most he'd laughed in… a long time. Ever since Cedric died actually. It felt nice, being able to forget his troubles like that…
"As for your offer… I think I'd like to try it out," Ginny said, cutting off his thoughts. "But only if you promise to come find me if or when you have a nightmare."
She held a fist out, and he bumped it with his own. "Deal," he said with a grin.
Little did he know… that decision might have just been the best one he'd ever made.

I guess I’m doing an AHIT “”””coffee shop au”””” one shot now?
I should be writing my fic, but this happened. @doodledrawsthings please don’t stop making cute things. This idea has been in my head since your first post and just aaaAAAA
"Dad, we're far enough in the woods, you can stop fighting it." Luka startled at his daughter's words, staring down at the child as they walked. "Huh? What do you mean, kiddo? I'm not-" She cut him off, "Dad, your eyes are starting to glow and you've had fangs for five minutes." He licked his teeth. She was right, they were sharp. He had known he was fibbing, he just hadn't known how badly. "I... I'll be right back, Harriet." The little girl nodded, and Luka ducked behind a large tree, quickly dressing down as his transformation became harder to resist. That was bad, and he knew it. It would be a while before he could even think about looking human again once he changed. He was a solid dark purple by the time he got his clothing removed. Given how urgently the transformation pulled on his form, he stopped fighting and let it overtake him before he began to fold his discarded outfit. It didn't hurt like it had at first, but the change in perspective was still dizzying. His clothing, the scene around him seemed to shrink. He knew it was actually he who was growing, his fingers merging into two claws on each hand, his arms giving up definition and the logic of joints in favor of appearing as simple cylinders of purple-black that moved in curves. His body extended into a long, snakelike form and his hair settled around his neck in a mane-like ruff. The look was completed by his face, jack-o-lantern like with big round eyes and a fanged mouth that glowed yellow. All in all, he looked like a cartoon of a ghost. He couldn't even blame the "Subconite" teenagers who played at working for him in the woods, as long as he existed like this as a legend, well... He could picture a younger version of himself being taken by a similar legend. With a sigh, he turned to his daughter, who could now see him very well in spite of the tree. "Give me a sec. I still need to fold everything." Harriet heard all she needed to. Clutching her favorite hat to her head, she scampered around to the other side of the tree with her father, snugging gently against his side as she folded his shirt for him. This earned her a loving side-hug from her father before he set to folding his pants and putting his outfit into a bag. "You said you had something you wanted to show me out here, kiddo?" Luka asked, bending down a bit to get closer to his child's height. "Yeah!" Harriet exclaimed, beaming an excited smile at him, "I found it when Ms. Clover was helping me find wildflowers to press for science class! It's this way!" She grabbed her father's hand and pulled him forward. Luka smiled in spite of himself, even though he was huge in this form, his headstrong daughter still tried to physically pull him along. He didn't resist, of course, but her insistence was still adorable. "Where are you taking me?" he chuckled, leaning down to whisper in her ear, "Are you sure it isn't you that's the real Snatcher?" Harriet giggled and patted her father's head, "Nope, pretty sure that's still you. I'm just a kid with a cool hat! Oh, we're almost here!" She let go of her father's hand, scampering towards what looked like a clearing ahead. When Luka caught up to his little girl, he gasped audibly. The place looked like a fairy tale, a round clearing with a giant hollow tree sitting in a pool in the center. The tree was dead now, but it was still the largest tree he had ever seen. "What do you think?" Harriet asked, studying her father's reaction. He shot his daughter a strange look, "It's incredible, but why did you want to bring me here now?" "It's your secret base!" The little girl explained excitedly, "Look at it, dad! It's perfect! We can come out here and nobody will see, we can play and you'll have plenty of room and-" she paused, looking up at him with her eyes glittering with mischief, "And we can play like this is your forest, like those weird older kids say!" His daughter surprised a genuine, loud laugh out of him. "My forest, huh kiddo?" He grinned back, examining the inside of the tree. "This needs light, books, and a chair big enough for me." He paused, thinking a moment. "But if this is my forest, that means," he turned dramatically to her, eliciting a giggle from his daughter. "You foooooooooooooooool!" He exclaimed in a theatrical tone, "You've stumbled into my forest! I'll force you to sign a contract and work for me!" "Really?!" Harriet retorted through her giggles, "Contracts, that's the best you can do?!" "Hey," Luka complained, "I was a lawyer, you come up with something better on short notice!" Harriet blew a raspberry at her father and jumped at him, landing in his arms with a laugh. "Okay, kiddo, you were right, this was a good suprise. As long as those teenagers don't find it, we can call this my secret  base." He winked at her, brushing her hair out of her face as she snuggled into his embrace. "I have to wonder though," he teased, "if perhaps a contract might help someone remember to clean her room." His daughter shot him a mean look, "Daaaad...."

| Red, Purple and Orange
This blog is now just me re-uploading stuff from my Amino accounts. More stuff from that AHIT Au I have. Spooky stuff with the Moonjumper. Also legit one of the things I'm the most proud of writing? Like ever?? I'm never repeating this again so hhh I wanna save it-
Anyways a few tws because this is a bit spooky. Nothing gory or unnerving happens but I know some people don't like just scary stuff in general so that's your warning
(this used to be divided in 2 parts but eh who needs that)
-
Red, purple and orange.
The whole manor was covered by them. Both inside and outside. Vivid warm colors embraced the whole building as if it was a strong loving hug from a long lost friend. It made the house itself warm. Red, purple and orange. These colors painted the empty dusty hallways as the house remained silent... or as silent as it could. The wooden floors and doors still creaked if touched, and the water running through the old pipes inside the walls made them rustle. The yellow light from outside created bridges of light as it entered through the windows. It had been a very very long time since something like that happened. Red, purple and orange. These colors painted the dusty and... not so empty hallways.
Hat Kid ran through the hallways of the manor. She giggled happily as her little feet thumped through the old wooden floors of the house, her yellow rubber boots squeaking as she ran. She'd put her yellow cape away since the weather started getting hotter. She'd never experienced something like this happening in Subcon. The cold Winter was over and Spring was rolling in with its warm sun and change of scenery. The kid had never seen the Subcon Forest so colorful. It was either always restricted to its ghostly dark purples or its ice-cold blues.
The trees were the most mesmerizing thing to look at. She'd never seen such colorful things. Their leafs were red, purple and orange. The tall trees towering over her and the entire village no longer seemed threatening or even scary. They looked like they'd come right out of a fairytale! The best part was that, when the sun was bright enough, like on that day, the leafs would reflect their colors on whatever was down below. As much as she loved the winter months she spent with her BFF and Vanessa, she couldn't fake it: she was absolutely amazed by this change of scenery.
A little after last year's Christmas, in the middle of January, Vanessa finally got the courage to give Hat Kid her very own Christmas gift. She felt bad for not giving the kid anything back on that day. And after the beautiful gift she'd given to her auntie... it didn't matter what it was. The point was that she found someone who she could trust. This little child who one day invaded her house, looking for some "time piece" thingy that Vanessa didn't even knew was there, had now become the closest she could call a friend.
On a cold winter morning, Vanessa woke up Hat Kid to a wonderful breakfast in bed and a small present. The queen explained to her the whole thing and offered her the shiny box. Still nomming on a freshly baked cookie, she teared through the wrapping paper, her eyes shining with enthusiasm. Inside the box was a small porcelain figure of a duck. Vanessa pulled it out of the box and showed Hat Kid the little key that was under it, as well as two wood wheels by its side. The queen turned the key a few times and set the toy down as Hat Kid watched, intrigued. The duck suddenly started moving, racing around the room! It went under the kid's bed and then around a few other toys scattered around the floor. The queen laughed as Hat Kid immediately jumped out of bed and started chasing the toy not just around the room, but around the whole manor, waking up everyone with her loud childish laughter.
Now, she was doing exactly the same, but not still in her pajamas. The brownish duck, with it's shiny yellow beak and shiny black eyes, raced down the corridors with the kid following right behind it. For some reason, some hallways were still pretty dark, even with all the light coming in from the windows. It's as if the light couldn't reflect on anything inside the manor, leaving the illuminated bits clear as day and, the rest of the manor, still pitch black. Like an immense dark void with only a few illuminated patches of floor scattered around, far away from eachother. If she wasn't careful enough, she could trip on things that were hidden in the dark, where she couldn't see them.
Red, purple and orange. The little duck turned the corner on one of the intersections and went to the left, away from the edge of the manor and into its inner corridors. There were no windows there. No light at all. Hat Kid felt hesitant, as if she knew she shouldn't even be there. But it was just a house, in fact, it was almost HER house now. She'd gotten so used to the peeled wallpaper and overall spooky vibe of the manor that it wasn't even scary anymore. And yet, she still felt like something was wrong. The hallway was completely dark, only the edge of the doorframe was visible. She couldn't tell where it led to. Her toy was going full speed into that corridor though. She couldn't lose her precious toy!
She took a deep breath, put on her determined expression and ran into the dark void. Her little feet still thumping loudly as she tried to listen for the squeaky sound of her toy as it echoed inside the corridor.
Red, purple, orange... and pitch black
-
Black.
She'd been running for a good few seconds now. Just straight forward. No looking back. That little toy of hers HAD to be somewhere around there. She could still hear it moving up ahead. She'd never really realised how fragile that thing probably was until now. I mean, it's porcelain! On wheels! A little crash or bump into some piece of furniture or even a wall might cause it to at least crack.
Hat Kid was finally starting to get legitimately worried. Where even was she? She'd sure never seen these parts of the manor. That was the only thing she still didn't feel familiar about the house: its layout. The manor played tricks on people, even on Vanessa, and she'd been living there for a very long time. Sure, it was big if seen from the outside, but once you'd step inside, you'd be bound to get lost if you didn't stay close to the windows. The inner corridors of the house were never blocked off. No warnings, no spooky tale about never going there, nothing. It was just common sense, something everybody around her knew, a rule that'd been taught by someone who not even time could remember by now. "Don't venture too deep into the manor. Don't go in the inner corridors of the house."
For some reason, she never really felt intrigued about it until now. Deep down, she knew she shouldn't go there. There didn't need to be any explanation or lesson to be taught. It was like one of those gut feelings; when, just by looking at something, you can tell it means danger. It makes you anxious. Not exactly scared, but unnerved, shaken. Like a primal fear of the darkness and the unknown. Suddenly, she snapped out of her train of thought. She thought she'd seen something. In the distance. What was that? Something was shining...
At the end of the dark void, she saw a light. There was another corridor there! An illuminated one! Oh thank goodness! She didn't knew how much longer she could've run for. She sprinted out of the corridor and back into the comforting light she left behind a few minutes ago.
Red, purple and orange.
The familiar sight immediately made her feel safe again. She was fine, everything was okay. She was still at home, nothing bad happened. Hat Kid leaned with her back against the wall behind her and took a deep breath. She then looked down and saw her toy next to her feet! It had probably reached the other end of the hallway and bumped into a wall. She crouched and picked it up.
After inspecting the toy for a few seconds, she could happily assure herself that it didn't had any cracks. She sighed in relief, turned the key on the toy's belly and dropped it. It creaked a little and speeded off down the new illuminated hallway. Hat Kid laughed and went back to her old self, chasing the toy again.
For a few minutes, it was like that whole incident was just a dream. The scary dark inner corridors of the manor seemed more like a nightmare than a memory now. It was just something that happened. She concluded that's just what it was: scary. The Subcon Forest was scary at first as well, but Hat Kid ended up getting used to it. The same applies to the manor that went from a haunted house to a home. But even those had somewhat of a "comforting" feeling to them. Subcon was dark, but Snatcher's "treehouse" was almost as cozy and bright as her own bedroom back in her ship. Vanessa's manor, despite being in bad shape, gained the feeling of an old home. It felt like a place you would go to spend the holidays or summer break. It had its charm and handful of funny secrets.
However, that corridor didn't share that house's same aesthetic. It felt odd, out-of-place. Maybe it was just too dark to even see anything at all, but just being there creeped her out. For some reason, she was fearing for her life, but there was nothing there that could hurt her. Well, not that she would be able to see it if it was there anyways. Now that she thought about it, what if there was something there? Something watching her? Something waiting? Something cruel, or even vile. Something...
Her train of thought was, yet again, interrupted by something outside of her own thoughts. She felt something. In the air. She could smell something. It was strong enough to pull her back into reality. The smell of something acid and bitter filled her tiny nose as she stopped on her tracks and covered her mouth and nostrils. What the peck WAS that?! It was so disgusting, so repugnant, enough to make her eyes tear up.
Red, purple and orange.
Her little toy slowed down and stopped right in front of her, just a few feet away. It stood still right in the middle of the long red carpet that covered the old wooden floor, illuminated by a window on the right side of the corridor. That stink was coming from somewhere near the toy, Hat Kid was sure of that. That same feeling came back. The primal fear of the darkness and the unknown. She had to get out of there. Something bad was going to happen. She just knew it. She had to get out of there now!
With the bit of bravery she had left, and with a free hand that wasn't covering her nose, she reached to grab her toy and run away as fast as possible. Then, out of the darkness, something quickly snatched her toy and pulled it into the black. Hat Kid jumped back. What... what was that?! What was happening? Was someone toying with her? Playing tricks on her? Was this Snatcher's doing? He sure loved to scare the kid, but she thought everyone was too busy doing their royal duties to play with her. She'd never seen her BFF using something like what she saw. What pulled her toy were a few shiny red ribbons. No, strings. Red strings, just quickly flowing and cutting through the air, fast enough for the kid's reflexes.
Hat Kid grasped her stomach. She felt like she was gonna throw up from the frightening atmosphere and the nauseous smell. Screw that toy. Vanessa would understand. She just needed to get out of there. She just needed to talk to someone who might know what was actually happening. The light from outside no longer seemed so inviting anymore. It was getting dark outside. The colors became cold and gained a certain blue-ish hue.
- Auntie! Auntie Ness! Help me! - the kid yelled as she lifted her head, hoping to make the sound somehow louder. And, as she did, she saw what was causing that smell.
Red, purple and orange
And yet...
Tumblr media
she wished it was all black.

Of Brothers and Moonjumpers - AHIT Victorian AU Fic
This one is long enough to be an actual one shot - be warned!
----
Marcus Arelius can seem a bit dim from a distance. Always smiling, always pleasant. It seems like willful ignorance if you do not know him.
But if you do know him, you know of his cunning, his wit, his surprising slyness.
Vanessa was well aware of him and his mild disapproval of her, but played up his friendliness in such a way as to leave him with no room to speak.
It was the only way to keep his knowledge and questions about his brother quiet.
What the lady of the house did not count on, was the little servant girl.
While taking a leisurely walk in the courtyard of the manor, he spotted the little girl very eagerly pulling weeds from a neglected little corner.
His corner, he lamented - where he used to grow -
Oh lord he used to grow moonjumpers there!
“Little one, Little one stop!” Marcus shouted, causing the little girl to jump and turn. He spotted the dried moonjumper pinned to the ribbon in her hair  and he rushed over, getting onto one knee “You didn’t touch this while it was living, did you??”
“Wh-uh no!” The girl responded “It was a gift from Miss Delilah. She warned me ‘bout how bad they are”
He looked passed her and saw that whatever moonjumper’s he’d planted there had long since died - such a shame. His brother had taken such good care of them while he was away.
“Well, might I ask what you are doing to my garden?” He asked politely.
“This is your garden? There’s not a lot here” She tilted her head “Miss Cici told me to take out the weeds so it looks nice, and plants these peterpoppies” She pointed to the five lovely, large, hardy flower plants, with bright red petals and blue-green stems.
“Ah, Peterpoppies.” he looked at the flowers over “I do love these - perfect autumn flowers.. if being planted a bit late” He muttered “Do you need any help, little one?”
She furrowed her brow
“Who are you?”
“Oh, I'm sorry, how rude of me!” he got on both knees, dirtying his navy breeches. “I am Markus Arelius. What is your name?”
“Harriet Timms!” She grinned “Are you related to the lord?”
“Indeed I am! I’m his twin. I live in HoriHollow, a day's journey from here.
“Oh, wow, that’s a big city, right?”
Markus laughed a bit “I suppose it depends on your definition” he contemplated “Though HoriHollow is certainly bigger than Subcon”
“I’m from Marfa Town” She commented, turning around and getting back to pulling weeds. Markus began to assist her, grabbing at the more stubborn ones on her behalf
“Marfa town? That’s not too far from here”
“Yeah. I lived at Mother Rumbi’s” Harriet commented “But then they sent me here”
Ah yes, Markus knew of this type of thing.
“So you are like Morgan, then?”
“What?”
“Like Morgan. She was given to the manor by an orphanage close to the border known as “Alpengott””
Harriet’s brow furrowed “I … didn’t know that. Huh”
“She didn’t tell you?” Markus chuckled, grabbing another weed “She would not stop talking about it a few years ago.”
“Well I wasn’t here a few years ago” Harriet commented, grabbing at the trowel to dig a hole for one of the peterpoppies.
“Fair enough” Markus nodded, grabbing one of the flowers and loosening the dirt.
The two fell into a silent rhythm for a few minutes pulling weeds and planting the flowers together.
“Uh, Mister Lord Markus…?” Harriet looked up to him
The man chuckled at her addressing “You can simply call me Mister Markus, if you wish”
“Oh, okay!” She grinned at him- he couldn’t help but grin back. Oh, his brother would love this little servant girl.
“So uh, Mister Markus… Do you know where Lord Lukas went? Lady Vanessa said he was traveling the world but.. He’s been gone for a long time, right?”
“.. Yes, he has.. I was in HoriHollow when he left. The letter Vanessa sent to me told of him having a prophetic dream and leaving without so much as a goodbye even to her” he explained “It came shortly after a letter from him, proclaiming a party he wished to host to celebrate their 5 year wedding anniversary. He seemed so excited I …” The man drifted off, holding the last peterpoppy in his hand “... I genuinely do not understand why he didn’t come to HoriHollow first. Why he went straight to London and … left”
Harriet paused for a minute “... What does lord Lukas look like?” She asked “I’ve never seen any pictures of him…”
“Oh, I have one!” Markus reached into his jacket, pulling out a rather large pocket watch that fit firmly in his hand. He popped it open, and showed the little girl the picture.
“He was so suspicious of the photographer and the camera, but I got him to stay still for just one photo. This was taken a few months before he left”
Harriet nearly choked on her own words.
The man in the photo. With the not unkind expression and shorter hair and fuller face… It was Snatcher. It was the man in the basement
She struggled with how to vocalize this.
“... He as a dumb face” was all she could come up with, causing Markus to pause and then laughed out loud, boisterously, with a volume that seemed to echo into the sky.
“Well if he has a dumb face than so do I! Perhaps dumber even, with my missing eye and all that” he laughed, still as he spoke, trying to calm himself down.
“Oh uh, uhm” She tried to backtrack.
“What on earth are you two doing?”
The two of them looked over at the voice, where the Lady of the house stood stiffly.
“Ah, good afternoon Vanessa. I was just helping little Miss Timms here with the flowers. This was my corner, after all” Markus stood, a stiff smile on his face.
“Ah... “ Vanessa looked down at Harriet, and the girl stayed on her knees, not looking at the lady of the house “And what were you two talking about?”
“Oh, I was just showing them that photo I have of Lukas” He showed the photo “She’s never seen Lukas since he went … on his trip”
Vanessa leveled another glare at Harriet, which Markus caught this time around.
“Yes…. I do hope he sends a letter soon. I’ll be sure to write you the moment it comes… when it does” Vanessa returned his tight smile “Will you be joining me for dinner?”
“I shall, yes. Let me return to my room to change. Gardening is dirty work, after all” He responded.
“Ah yes…. I shall see you in the parlor then” The lady of the house turned on her heel and left the center garden, leaving Harriet and Markus alone again.
“.... Are you alright, little Harriet?” Markus looked down at her with a pensive expression.
Unable to maintain eye contact, Harriet nodded and went to collect the weeds into a basket for them to be fed to the cattle.
“‘M fine, mister Markus.. Lady Vanessa can be lil’ intimidating but it's okay”
“... If you are sure” he leveled back at her.
Harriet simply nodded and stood up “uh, Mister Markus, can I ask you something?”
“Indeed you may” he invited
“... Miss Cici told me that in order to run the manor, you have to uh, make a deal with the forest” She started nervously “... Do you know what Lady Vanessa gave up?”
Markus paused, taking a moment to think. He’d been contemplating that very question for years, but she didn’t seem very… different, from the woman he knew before his brother disappeared. Somewhat suspicious of the child’s question, he still answered honestly.
“... I do not, no.” he looked to the door where Vanessa left “Might I ask you a question?”
She finally looked up at him, her deep eyes knowing… something
“... Does my sister in-law ever talk of my brother? How do you know of him?”
Harriet’s brow furrowed, twisting her apron in one hand “Uh… Once or twice… I heard about him from the other people that work here. I uh.. Heard he likes Cici’s cinnamon bread?”
Markus let his shoulders relax a tad “That he did… He would often eat it in less than a dozen bites. Fascinated me, really”
Harriet snorted “Sounds right?”
“Oh? Have his food related exploits really been gossiped about so keenly?”
“Maybe” She grinned, her smile not even hiding that she knew something.
Harriet head back for the door
“Hey, Mister Markus?”
“Another question, little one?” He asked, walking towards her
“No but… I have a feeling that Lord Lukas will be coming home soon” She stated “I just… It feels like something I *know*” She affirmed, the determination on her face giving him a strange feeling in his chest.
Like he wanted to believe her.
“Well… Let’s hope that you’re correct, Little Harriet. I miss my brother very much”
She smiled back up at him “I hope I am too” she responded, before turning the corner with her basket in tow.
That little girl knew something, Markus was sure.
And yet… he still hoped that she was correct.

Can I just say that the way you write the ahit characters is really great! I was wondering if I could request a fic about snatcher having to fight back vanessa (like how he did prior the the 'chat' fic)? I'm curious as to how she tries to sabotage the forest.
Thank you for the request! I’m back to doing these when I can which is occasionally. (I do already have 2 more after this written though because I wrote them during the time I was editing the last few chapters of Ghost Kid, so expect those soon but after that it’s gonna be an occasional thing until they’re all done.)
Ice
It was snowing, making everyone mildly unhappy. None of the Subconites knew it was mostly unnatural snow though and Snatcher intended to keep it that way. Disguised as a Subconite on watch duty, he waited by the bridge as Vanessa grew closer.
Why did she feel the need to leave her frozen house and come over to the forest to harass him? Why couldn’t she just accept that there was nothing she could do to force him to come back to her? Why couldn’t she just die? The world would be a better place without her.
He thankfully didn’t have long to fume before she finally arrived, forcing her way through the ice barrier because brute force was the only language she understood.
Before she could spot him – he’d played this trick on her before, she probably wouldn’t fall for it a second time – Snatcher summoned a blast of magic under her feet. Unfortunately, she sensed it and quickly moved out of the way.
“My Prince, you’ve come to meet me!” More like stop her, he wasn’t going to let her get through to the forest ever again, she’d done so far too many times as it was. “Are you ready to come back yet?”
He summoned a row of potions and tossed them at her. Ice spears broke them all in midair before they got anywhere near her.
She snarled. “I shall have to take you back home then.” She shot out more ice, at him this time, easily dodged.
It had been a while since their battle but as always very rarely did either of them actually land a substantial blow. Snatcher couldn’t kill her no matter how hard he tried. All he could do was slowly push her back towards her manor. But more and more often these days, she wasn’t able to push him anywhere. Maybe one day he’d be strong enough to actually end her, hopefully anyway. For now though, it took almost all he had to get her back to the clearing her manor resided in – the clearing that used to be a bustling village before she destroyed it with snow and ice. Thankfully today, she chose to give up there instead of at the manor door.
Snatcher could’ve chased her as she fled but it would serve no purpose and would only exhaust him more. Besides, the manor is where she wanted to bring him and she’d attempted to lay traps for him in the past, he’d always managed to escape but he didn’t want to push his luck. So he just watched instead, waiting until she’d vanished from sight and stayed gone for several minutes before leaving himself, teleporting to his reading hollow to rest.

Alternate Perceptions- AHiT Idea
So, after accidently smashing head first into A Hat in Time Fandom and all their good shit, I got ideas some that refuse to be written, and one of them I thought I note out. (heavily inspired by doodledrawsthings, seriously, there stuff is so good.)
So, welcome to Alternate Perceptions! We can have multiple POVs here, so lets have fun with this.
First up, we have Prince Luke, who is taking a break from Law School for the summer to spend time with his fiance, Vanessa. Everything is just fine swell, normal carefree days, when the Prince and Princess starts to hear about rumors about a look-a-like. Sure, he’s heard some things while at the University, one person even said he looked so weird with a smile on his face ?? but Luke didn’t really question or think long on it... at least until someone, a noble in fact, asks if the Prince has a brother?
-
Luke blinked in surprise at the question, Vanessa even paused as she considered the man.
“I do not believe so...” Luke answered slowly, even as carefully took in the now sweating noble. Vanessa, do you really need to stare so hard?
“Ah, I see; sorry, just met an older chap and some girls, his daughter and her friend I believe, and he looked incredibly like your father.” the man excused, even as Luke tried his best not to twitch.
His father, the former and now retired King of another kingdom close to Subcon, while now known for his loyalty and incredible love for his wife... was formerly a rather... free young man in his youth.
‘Hopefully not another claiming they are the rightful heir to the thrown, there is a reason Uncle is in charge.’ Luke smiled, even as he felt Vanessa hold his hand in hers. It was a well known trouble that occasionally popped up here and there, people claiming to have raised a Royal’s bastard or claiming to be such even after the tests failed.
(At least his father had been careful, if not smart in his youth.)
“I’ll probably have to send a letter to Uncle later about this, I’m sure he’ll appreciate the warning of someone coming.”
-
The thing is, no one ever pops up. Oh, apparently this potential headache did go to his Uncle’s Kingdom, but never went to the castle at all. In fact, from what he heard, the man and two girls ended up saving a square full of people from some sort of explosion in a plaza, accepting thanks and food from the happy citizens, but actually refusing to go a step closer to the castle.
(There is much to say from the citizens, those who managed to take a peek of the man who managed to keep a heavy cloak on even in all the chaos, only for it to get knocked off in accident by a rescued child.
With those features, glowing golden eyes and a heavy scowl, one would almost think they were looking at the Former King in his youth.)
That was... suspicious. If the Prince wasn’t assured that the perpetrator of the explosion was caught, he might have thought the man was involved somehow. but as it goes, more and more stories come out, about this unusual trio going around, helping out here and there, even unearthing corrupted nobles and becoming one of the most talked about subjects since the Subcon Duchess’s scandals.
And yet, it seems besides occasionally seen entering in Subcon Forest, this trio hasn’t actually stepped foot in Subcon itself.
Not until one unusual event.
-
Prince Luke gasped, for a good minute thankful for the harsh taskmaster his sword instructor was, insisting that the rest of the body needed to be just as trained as his hands and feet. Otherwise, carrying his beloved to safety might have been just that bit harder, what with all the finery her station required her to wear, though it was still a relief when he could finally set her down. But watching how the manor warped and twisted around them, the floor seeming to turn into actual lava, even ice in some places, the young royal couldn’t help but feel his stomach drop, even as him and the remaining nobles in the room clung to their last piece of safety in the ballroom that, that monster just transformed.
For a good minute, Luke just felt himself breathe, trying to calm down and think of a solution, only to be shocked when two children, just little girls at that, ran past him. He made to reach out to them, to maybe stop them, just about to call out to them, when he heard-
“My Prince, what are you thinking? We just barely escaped with our lives!” Vanessa exclaimed, holding on tight to the arm at his side.
“But those girls-”
“The kiddos will be fine; might want to worry about yourself more foool.” was cut in, the voice harsh and grim, but ever so familar in a way?. Turning as one, the nobles and Royals took in a heavily cloaked figure, golden lights the only thing one could see in the darkness of their hood.
“Snatcher! Do you think you can reach that lever over there? We’ll need that if we want to beat this guy and seal the rift!” one of the girls called out, the bow wearing one in fact.
“On it.” and with that, the other was moving, up and away from them (almost like they were running away it seemed).
-
With the trio coming in, they stop the being, and even return the place back to normal, much to everyone’s gratefulness.
But in all the confusion and chaos, the one called Snatcher and once Dad by the hat wearing girl, gets his cloak blown off, revealing their face to all.
Its.. it’s like looking in a twisted mirror in a way, because he sees in him the features of his father easily, it’s the same Luke had inherited, but where Luke has his mother’s smile and soft brown eyes to soften his features, you can see none of that in this Snatcher’s harden, tired face and glowing amber golden eyes.
The Eyes only Royal’s in Luke’s family can inherit. Eyes that show the Magic in their line, making them able to inherit the throne...
Things just got that much more complicated.
(Meanwhile, a Queen to be looks at this impostor, seeing this similar being to her perfect prince and inwardly seethes... and yet... Shows her sides she has never seen of her dear sweet Prince... It is a conflict of emotions she feels; does she want this man gone and buried, for twisting her beloved Prince’s image... or would he be a nice addition to the dungeons, for her to appreciate when her longing grows?)
-
Meanwhile, the Other POV we can have!
So, normal day for Snatcher and the kids, just chilling in the pillow pile, getting ready for another exploration on the planet... when some idiot a world over plays around with time pieces, accidentally piercing through to them, the only other time that so many time pieces were gathered in their world and planet. This unfortunately drags the three over there, meeting the idiot and their plan to get revenge on the kingdoms around them any means necessary.
So, their is some good news, bad news, and just oh good moon why.
Good news! It will not ruin their time line, their past has long since set, and they have no worries about messing with things here too much.
Bad news! If they happen to get too involve here in this world (i.e. forming magical bonds, eating magical food, using to much or many magical items that were created in this world) they risk never being able to go back home!
Oh good Moon Why News: it is a near perfect replica of Subcon Past, with Crazy Vanessa and a whipped Prince Luke running around, still ‘happy’ as it were. And they have to fix all these rifts in this world, along with stopping the head idiot in order to fix everything and go back to their own, meaning they will have to explore everywhere around them, Subcon and it’s terrible memories included.
Alternatly, this could also be called~
Snatcher’s no good, terrible, horrible, truly abhorring, detestable time in an Alternate Universe of Subcon and the Kingdoms around it.
The Snatch is not a happy camper, especially since he is now stuck in a meat suit. Luckily, he can use minor, low, low powered version of his powers. (now, I don’t know if he got transformed before or during all this, because both would be juicy, so I won’t say.) otherwise, Snatcher would be very tempted to listen to that dark little voice inside that says screw everything and one.
He is not smiling, there are no smiles to be found, and everyone who meets him doesn’t mistake him for the prince. (because I find the thought funny on just how different a person can look with a whole different outlook and expression on their face.) Ironically, he gets the cloak because he doesn’t want to be mistaken for the prince or be accused of being a body snatcher or something, only for it not to even be needed for that in the end, though he doesn’t know this for a good, long while. (To not be mistaken as a illegitimate child or possible lost royal heir on the other hand... yeah.)
(The girls are doing their best to help how they can, providing distractions and just being themselves, getting a now rare smile out of the glowing eyed man before them.
It... it really helps)
Also, at one point, I want both Bow and Hat to just go yeet with Snatcher or vice versa, something all three trouble makers agreed to do if needed. Also, Snatcher Carrying one girl over his shoulder while the other under his arm as they run from something is a need as well.
(And maybe, in a moment of panic, of triggers and shaking, where Snatcher finds he can’t move, the two girls get protective, using a cheat or natural strength, they end up carrying their purple dad somewhere he can stress and panic in piece.)
Just, we can see the perceptions of everyone around us, with all these outside points of view, and we can really explore all the fun and tears to be had... welp, it’s at least fun to think about.
(also, interaction between Prince and Snatcher, with Snatcher having no worries of affecting the timeline... are fun to think on as well...)

So This is Love
Ship: Snatcher/The Prince (AHIT) x SI/OC
Word Count: about 3,160 ish words, and not beta read (unless sending this to your friend at 3am to read it over is beta reading ksbdjd)
Ok, so this is majorly self indulgent, because I low-key really like masquerade balls and grand costumes and stuff, but I can't write imagery for JACK and the song "So This is Love" basically came into my heart and smashed my knees with the image of me and Snatcher dancing to this elbdj
Also! The Prince doesn't really have a name, so i just named him Luka lol
(I haven't posted anything og my self-insert, but they go by Bee and they/them pronouns, and they work as the king's mail carrier and post man. They and Luka have been close friends since childhood, and that's why they get away with so much stuff together lol)
Anyway, I need to stop rambling, I hope you like it!!! I know I do-- The actual fic is under the read more!
 ... <3
Acorn sighed, as they fiddled at their clothes. Even though they are a mail carrier, they are a royal mail carrier and got the privilege to be invited to a masquerade ball the kingdom is holding. The heir of the kingdom – Prince Luka – practically begged for Acorn to be there, seeing as they were a close friend of his. Luka even had a tailor of his make a set of clothes for the occasion. When he gave Acorn their set of clothes (on a mail run, no less,) they almost burst into tears. Even though Acorn was a friend of the Prince's, and technically worked for the King and his Court, they were still pretty surprised that the King allowed them to join. Acorn sharply shook their head to try and stop thinking about what happened before the party, thoughts lingering on the clothes and the handsome Prince instead.
Thankfully, Luka made the clothing he gave them lighter than what most ball dancers would wear, as well as not having many intricate ruffles or details sewn on, unlike the richer party-goers of the ball. Ladies' dresses were puffy and frilly, with hand-stitched flowers and lace put onto the dress and bodice, waists thin and masks ranging from a simple face covering with pearls and feathers to a full-on mask with lace and colorful markings with animal representatives. Men's suits were… less fun to look at, but still brought attention to them, with brighter colors and designs in the suit rather than the tones than most were used to seeing, along with their ruffles more prominent. Their masks were similar to the ladies, with most being simple masks and the most extreme one Acorn has ever seen being a peacock themed set of clothes.
Luka, who's family was hosting the ball, had a moderately complex suit. His was centered around a mouse, trying to mimic Acorn's rabbit mask and the suit he commissioned for them. His pale white and more natural fur-like colors of his suit and extra details contrasted his normal clothing style, which used more purple and red tones, showing his stature in the kingdom. His overcoat had slightly padded shoulders to emulate his everyday wear, and his vest to protect his shirt slightly covered the silly cravat that Acorn loves to torture him about. He didn't wear his boots, as he was forced to wear his uncomfortable dress shoes. Luka's mask was ornately decorated, with a small crown of pearls shaped vaguely of a lute sat on the forehead, and silver adorned the cheeks and temples of his mask. Acorn's mask and suit were nowhere as near to the simple extravagance of the kingdom's prince, but they were still proud to wear it, albeit, slightly embarrassed. Their mask was of a simple white rabbit, it's ears extending from the area just above the temples. Despite being very simple in shape, there were swirls of silver, and around the eyes and the edges of the ears, there was gold paint. Their mask also had a very little rabbit nose, similarly decorated to the rest of the mask. Their suit had no overcoat and had a more brown set of tones rather than the pure white of Luka's. Acorn was able to wear their boots, as it did match his suit, and they were sure if Luka was there to see that, he would probably give them a look that would kill.
Speaking of which, Luka was greeting the party-goers, occasionally leaning down to kiss a lady's hand as her group of friends giggled at the small gesture. When he looked up from greeting a different woman who was surrounded by her escorts and saw Acorn, they could tell his night was made. Even though they could see his mouth, he was still in front of a small group, and couldn't show his excitement fully. Luka's eyes lit up, his hazel eyes catching the candlelight to make them a more pale yellow than normal, a happy glint in his eyes. Before he could excuse himself from the group to say hello to his friend, Luka was thrust into a conversation about courting, with the young woman – her name, what was her name… Vanessa? Was that it? – and him being the topic of conversation. Acorn saw Luka stiffen slightly when he turned around to an older gentleman gently touching his arm, and realized that they would probably both be here for a while.
. . . <3
Luka crept behind Acorn, trying to be discreet about getting to the food table. Well, as discreet as he could be, being the kingdom's one and only heir to the throne, while people are trying to make him do political moves, like marrying their daughter that probably only wants to get in his pants or leave. He jabbed at his friend's sides, making them jolt and whirl around, glass slightly raised in case they needed to resort to violence. "Oh, you–!"  Luka chuckled and struggled not to laugh louder than was socially acceptable as Acorn realized it was him and gently smacked the back of their hand on his shoulder. "I almost splashed my champagne all over your suit, You're High–" Acorn was cut off before they could continue.
Luka shook his head and put a finger over his lips. "Don't call me that, please. I just got out of a conversation with a neighboring kingdom's duke. I'm sure their daughter is nice and all, but God, I just want to have some food and spend time with you before I'm forced to go dance with the people here." Acorn quirked an eyebrow at that. The Prince? Wanting to spend time with the mail carrier? During a ball to find a suitable lover? Not out of the blue, but certainly not expected. Before Acorn could ask the thoughts running through their head, Luka quickly responded. "We haven't had any time to speak at all lately. I mean, I've been looking for a good school to look into law practice and you've been constantly working all the time with deliveries that my father is making you do. The whole reason why I invited you to this is so I could talk to you, not talk to the political figures," Luka bitterly spat out as he grabbed a small plate and put some sweets on it.  "… Is that so wrong?" He stayed silent for a moment after saying that, previous actions slowing and calming slightly.
Acorn shook their head. "Of course not! It's alright to want to talk to someone who hasn't spoken to in a while. But," They lowered their voice slightly and moved closer to Luka, who in turn subconsciously moved towards them. "Why here? Where you are trying to find a suitable lover?" They turned their head slightly to get a look at Luka and oh stars, when did he get this close. His shoulder-length hair had a small ponytail in the back, tying off some, but leaving the rest down to frame what little of his face people could see. He smelled like vanilla and lavender, and Acorn couldn't get enough of it. They were thankful for the mask for once, hoping that the other couldn’t see their face flush scarlet as they realized what they were thinking.
Acorn looked away, probably a bit too quickly, and looked around at the scene around them as Luka sighed. “Well, you know how it is. I was kinda forced to come here. Royal duties to,” he switched to a deeper voice and cocked his head a little higher, “keep the royal bloodline alive and all that wonderful business.” He shook his head and started to walk away from the table with his plate piled high. “You don’t have to talk to me if you don’t wish to, but I would like you too.” Acorn looked at Luka and smiled, while they both walked off together. Luka side-eyed them and lifted his mask slightly to eat easier. They smiled at one another after a moment, and after Luka gently slapped Acorn's hand for trying to steal a chocolate truffle, they walked onto a balcony to (hopefully) get some better privacy to talk with one another.
. . . <3
The two slightly moved their masks away from their faces, finally being able to breathe more comfortably and show their faces while in their own company. Acorn walked closer to the balcony and looked up at the sky, while Luka slowly picked at the desserts on his plate. “It’s beautiful.” Luka looked up, and swore his heart stopped at the sight ahead of him. Acorn was leaning over the balcony’s intricate stone banister, one leg tucked behind the other. Their tight bun was slightly undone, hair messy, but oh so… Elegant, is that the word? Even in the dim light of the moon shining down on them in their suit, and the band still heard playing, Luka could just stare. This moment felt too intimate. Even… even for just friends, silently pining. Acorn turned slightly, to look back at the other. “Don’t you think so?” Luka stuttered as he let out a held breath – since when did he stop breathing? He flubbed an agreement that seemed to satisfy Acorn, because they turned around and kept looking at the stars and constellations. Luka unknowingly kept admiring them, smiling to himself. He finished his dish and set it next to him as he got up to look at the stars next to Acorn. They stood there for a few minutes, pointing out constellations and enjoying each other’s company for a bit.
Luka looked over at Acorn, and his heart flipped. Oh how he wished he could just kiss them –
     … Wait.
     Oh. Oh.
     Oh no.
He flushed red at the thought that he couldn’t quickly shoot down as he wanted to. He? And Acorn? His childhood best friend, who helped him through everything, even though they were the child of a mail carrier? He wanted to laugh, but the thought had crossed his mind too much as of late for his to even think about drawing an awkward chuckle from himself. They were just so… so perfect for him not to fantasize about what a relationship with them would be like. It would be a scandal for sure, but would anyone really mind? He saw the was his parents looked knowingly at him when he laughed a little too hard at one of Acorn insufferable puns and jokes. Even when the topic of this ball was brought up by an advisor, the King told him that it was really just a formality to “keep the bloodline alive”, and nothing more. Luka realized that he was probably staring, and cleared his throat slightly, looking back at the stars above. Then one of the band members – violin presumably – started a familiar refrain, as the other instruments slowly joined in.
Luka looked at Acorn, as they looked back at him. “You should probably… go grace somebody with you amazing dancing skills Luka.” They looked at the slightly ajar door they left open when they came out on the balcony. “I mean, some lucky lady is probably wanting to dace with you. Perhaps the one you were talking to for hours on end, hmm?” Though their voice had a teasing tone, Luka could tell that they didn’t want him to leave. Not yet.
Luka pretended to think it over, and grabbed their hand to pull them closer to him. “No, I don’t think I’ll leave just yet.” He chuckled, and dramatically leaned down to kiss Acorn's hand as they sputtered. “Care to join me for a dance, my dear?” Even in the dim lighting, Luka could tell that Acorn's face was probably scarlet at this point. Their mouth opened and closed for a moment, trying to find words without sounding like a fool, but eventually they just nodded their head. Luka smiled gently. “You don’t have to. I won’t mind if you refuse Acorn.” They stood their ground and shook their head, saying that they did want to dance. So, they got ready to waltz in time with the music.
Luka put his hand on Acorn's shoulder while Acorn put theirs on his waist. They clasped each other’s hand, and started swaying gently with the music. It was surprisingly more springy than they both remembered, but the pair started dancing slightly. They turned and swayed as the music continued, and slowed when the band quieted to let the singers… well, sing.
So, this is love
Mmm~
Luka hummed the words slightly as the pair subconsciously moved closer to one another. Acorn looked up at Luka slightly, eyebrow raised. Luka scoffed slightly. “We both know that we’ve been raised on this song, don’t give me that look.” Luka gently nudged the other, and Acorn chuckled.
So this, is love…
So this is what makes life, divine
Closer and closer still, the pair moved in tandem with one another, circling like two moons orbiting a forgotten planet. They swayed, with Luka gradually whispering the lyrics, enjoying himself. They both looked borderline ethereal to the other, both of them unbelieving of the sight they had.
“I’m all aglow, mmm
And now I know,”
“And now I know…” Acorn sang slightly, looking at Luka while he sang the verse before. They both seemed surprised that Acorn did that, but Luka recovered and muttered that they had a nice voice. Acorn flushed, and buried their face into Luka’s jacket, stuttering.
“The key to all heaven is mine…”
They harmonized with themselves and the singers inside the castle. They had stopped dancing altogether at this point, and had just started embracing each other instead. Acorn's head was on Luka’s shoulder, and Luka was staring ahead, head tilted slightly to clay. The pair still swayed gently, but it wasn’t to start dancing.
My heart has wings, mmm
And I can fly
I’ll touch every star in the sky…
Luka looked down to Acorn, and saw the peaceful expression they held. ‘They are right there,’ he heard himself scold. ‘Just kiss them, get it over with.’
So this is the miracle
That I’ve been dreaming of…
Mmm
They now faced one another and started slowly leaning together, their faces almost touching. Luka’s eyes fluttered closed as Acorn's glanced down at his lips.
Mmm
So this…
Is love.
The singer’s duet ended, and their lips finally connected. It felt like fireworks and explosions were going off, sparks dancing on their lips. As the two gripped each other tighter, they didn’t hear the pair of feet making their way towards them. “Your highness, you are–” The guard cut herself off as she realized what she had walked into unknowingly. The two parted quickly once her voice was heard, and Acorn tried to shuffle away from Luka slightly to try and at least pretend that they totally weren’t kissing, what? “I, I’m sorry your highness, I can come back–”
Luka shook his head, but never let go of Acorn. “No, no. What is it?” He inquired and put most of his attention to the distraction at hand, slightly disappointed. Acorn looked down at the ground, away from the guard, suddenly taking interest in a few pebbles on the surrounding stone.
The guard re-positioned herself. “The King wanted to see you sire, but I will just let him know that you are… Busy doing other things. I, uh. Hope I didn’t interrupt anything too maj– you know what? I’m just gonna…” The guard awkwardly walked off, shifting in her armor slightly, embarrassed that she walked in on the prince and the mail carrier having a moment together.
... "Wait, the mail carrier??"
Luka waited for a moment after she left, making sure the gentle clinks of her armor had faded completely. The pair stayed silent for a moment, before Acorn tried to shift away again. Luka pulled them to where they were originally in his arms and smiled mischievously. “Where do you think your going, lover?” He teased, laughing slightly as Acorn pretended to fight back. He grin became wider as he realized that Acorn had blushed darker. “Oh, did you like that dearest? Calling you ‘lover’?” Luka cooed at them, as Acorn gently swatted at him. “Just come here, sweetheart,” and with that last teasing pet name, he brought them into another kiss, less tentatively. He could feel Acorn smile as they let out a silent sigh and melt against him, knees weak. Luka pulled away slightly, and as Acorn's head followed the movement slightly, he whispered, “Don’t you think we should take this somewhere a little more private after the guard, you know…?” Acorn's knees fully gave out, and Luka hurriedly clung onto them as he felt how hot they were. He fussed over them for a second, hoping that they didn’t fully pass out.
They both chuckled for a moment after Acorn quickly recovered, and Acorn muttered something along the lines of “Kissing is just fine for now, anything more and I think I’ll die.” The two couldn’t contain their loud laughter at this remark, Luka’s laughter carrying on over Acorn's. He leaned over and gently pecked their cheek, saying how they didn’t want anyone to see them kissing again, and that he was sorry that he insinuated something more than kissing. Acorn pecked him back on his lips, and accepted the apology.
💛
(Little bonus scene! I didn’t really wanna write this out fully, but I kinda wanted to add what one of their fist meetings could be sknf -- enjoy!!)
Looking back on it, the Snatcher could hardly believe that he was so in… actual infatuation and love with a childhood friend that he could hardly believe that he could marry Vanessa. She was of course, fine at the start, but the lingering feelings for the pair never truly left their hearts. He shook his head, looking back down at his book, waiting for that kid – Hat Kid was it? Or was it Bow? – when a knock sounded on the tree bark. Snatcher sighed. “What do you want, ki–”
His sentence was abruptly cut off as he saw an all too familiar face in the entry way with Hat Kid behind them. “Hello your highness. Been a few years, hasn’t it?” Snatcher almost dropped his book as his jaw hung slightly. Acorn, in the flesh. Right there. Their clothes were much more casual to fit the modern times, and they carried a mail bag on their shoulder, with a mail carrier's cap in one of their hands.
Snatcher blinked a few times. “Yeah… 10, at least, huh sweetheart?” Acorn laughed loudly, and ran towards him. They embraced again, and finally after 200 years of waiting, wondering if the other was alive or not, Acorn peppered Snatcher’s face with kisses. There certainly wasn’t going to be any complaining about this for a while to say the least. Even from a ghost who always said he had a reputation to uphold.

I can’t draw the AHIT kids in PJs or work on any fics right now, so I’m gonna indulge myself with some cutesy holiday headcanons.
When Hat Kid first learns about Santa, she’s all for it--super excited about Christmas and the idea of a man giving gifts with a team of flying reindeer.  She’s been through a lot, so she doesn’t even question that he might not exist.  Outwardly, she’ll try to keep herself composed, but it’ll be obvious that she’s in a last minute rush to get everything ready for the holiday and Santa’s arrival: Writing a letter to Santa, making her own presents, decorating her ship the best she can with Cooking Cat’s advice, etc.  She’ll have stars in her eyes for weeks on end, waiting for the big day.
Bow Kid’s a little more skeptical about the idea of Santa, but she’ll play along because it’s fun and Hat Kid’s really into it.  It’s easy for her to get caught up in the excitement of the season and she can be caught humming carols as she goes about her day.  She’ll probably look for more things to do around the planet for the holidays.
Mustache Girl doesn’t believe in Santa, so she just rolls her eyes at all of the “nonsense” the others are caught up in and will openly call them out on it.  She’s not going to be in the Christmas spirit, so Hat Kid and Bow are going to need to drag her along with them against her will.  She, begrudgingly, will play along at times--secretly even enjoying it all--but during the last few days to Christmas will get really nasty for seemingly no reason. In reality though, it’s because she hasn’t really had a good Christmas in a while so all of that magic is gone for her: She doesn’t want to be there when the others wake up to no Santa and realize some of the same things she did a long time ago.
Cooking Cat’s gonna be with the kids the entire time, helping Hat Kid decorate her ship and get some food ready (besides just cookies) so that they can enjoy a real meal for the holidays. She’ll probably plot with some other people to ensure that all three girls can have a great Christmas together and continue to believe in the magic of it.
The Mafia goons are gonna be kind of split on how they spend the holiday season.  The Boss is pretty negative, openly mocking the girls--especially Hat Kid--for falling for all of the Santa stuff despite believing in it himself as a child *cough*: He’ll just boast about how he’s going to hold a massive feast the rest of the Mafia, more interested in boosting morale and partying overall.  A lot of the goons have that same mindset, but some others are gonna kinda nervously chuckle and hide their true thoughts because some of them have kids and they’re not gonna disappoint their own children and/or have a soft-spot where Christmas is concerned.  They just don’t wanna be laughed at by the rest of the gang. (Someone outside of the Mafia is gonna sneak into the Boss’s place and give him coal to wake up to on Christmas morning, just to make him mad and give everyone else something to laugh at.)
The Conductor’s gonna be somewhat bitter about it, acting like an absolute Scrooge, but he’ll put his work on hold because his family won’t stop insisting that he spend the holiday season with them--dropping over to visit at the last minute.  Then, when the grandkids start talking about Santa, he’s gonna be real quiet about it the whole time. In reality, he’s absolutely the guy who’ll dress up as ole’ Saint Nick to put a smile on their face.  If anyone finds out it’s him though, he’ll say it’s just good acting experience to keep him on his toes every year when the little ones try to invent new ways to catch Santa.  Might have a tradition of running his own “Polar Express” for some extra cash.
DJ Grooves is all about having the biggest party around.  While he does criticize his penguins, the holiday season is the main time of the year where they do see how he really does appreciate them.  And he’s going to make sure to be the best host possible, so he’ll extend an invitation to anyone who wants to show up and have a good time.  Expect nonstop dancing, eating/drinking, and music through the night and a few noise-complaint calls.  No one’s gonna be able to stop him though: He does it every year, and it’s still nothing compared to his New Year’s celebrations.
Snatcher’s not really in a Christmasy mood, so the season is just business as usual to him: Mostly, he just stays on his toes since the winter weather can strengthen Vanessa’s ice.  Then there’s his minions and the Dwellers... With a lot of them dying as children, the first Christmas was the absolute worst.  Most of their families had been split apart upon death as it was and the ones that did still believe in Santa were worried sick because “would he even still think of them since they were dead?” If it weren’t for so many of them being so young, he probably would’ve told them to grow up.  He kinda did, but for his own reputation.  He couldn’t do much of anything about keeping to their traditions, so he just let the minions and Dwellers deal with the celebrations on their own, grumbling all the while as he “oversaw” it to “make sure they weren’t going to do anything stupid that would attract other spirits.”  In secret, however, he did attach “playing Santa” to his usual chore for the mail--either putting some poor soul to the task under both a contract and heavy death threats if anyone caught them or doing it himself.  Now that Hat Kid’s around for the holidays, it’s gonna be that all over again.
The Goats and Nomads don’t celebrate Christmas, but have their own holiday that’s more like a winter solstice celebration.  There’s some gift-giving, but it’s mostly focused on feasting and a large, community festival.  Gifts shared are either given to family members or other, very close loved ones, as it’s considered something a lot more personal than the rest of the celebrations.
The seals are all for the holidays, and now that they have to wait until they can get another boat--so they don’t have to spend it working for anybody--they’re going to take advantage of the situation and go full-in.  It’s probably the busiest you’ll ever see them, although they’re still clumsy as ever.  Most might just go to their families, but the rest are going to party together--and hopefully drag the Walrus Captain into their celebrations as well.  He’ll go, because he’s got nothing else to do, they invited him and he can’t easily say no, and he thinks it’ll be a Christmas miracle if they don’t somehow hurt themselves just by putting up a tree.  He’s kinda like a dreary uncle that does care, but won’t say anything and just plays along, because hey--it beats eating a microwave dinner alone at his place.
The Empress is more interested in banking on the open consumerism or any of her enemies’ weak points during the season than actually celebrating it. Therefore, while she might begrudgingly give some of her gang a little time off, she’ll still demand results from them.  Meanwhile, she’ll take a bit of a break herself with a relaxing night-in alone. Do not disturb her unless you’ve got some really good news.

Description of the town: Shady Hallow is a quiet town that is in between the regions, Subcon forest and The Desert where Dead Bird Studio takes place. Much of the town's history is but a mystery to all but it’s a good place to go if you want to be alone with your thoughts for a while. There within the village lies on top of a hill there seems to be an old mansion that looks like time had its toll on the outside and the town seems to have a very busy bar around called “The Wistful Rose.” The buildings are very Victorian esque as well as the people there with their clothing. The humans there don’t seem to be fond with the vampires there but not everyone dislikes the children of the night.
Layout: The town is an open space to which hat kid can roam around. Meaning she can jump on rooftops, roam the streets, enter various buildings, and explore a little bit outside of the town
The Wistful Rose: This building is the town’s bar owned by The Vampire lady. The interior has a western gothic aesthetic, with big candle chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. There are a few towns villagers, owls, mafia goons, Metro cats, moon penguins and a few nomads all relaxing there enjoying the food and drinks there. You can find lady winter working at the bar if the bar happens to be open.
Clothing Parlor: This little building is an old Victorian clothing store. Here the player can get some hat and dye flairs. The store is a one story building with a grey paneling and a sign out front that says “Clothing Parlor” written in red. There is a few rows of clothing such as dresses, shirts, shoes, hats and the like. There is a counter and there stands a towns villager standing behind the register. They can provide hat kid some flairs in exchange of pons
The Forest: This is just one part outside of town. It seems to be a part of subcon but not quite, unlike subcon the place seems to have more life there despite it being fairly dark. There are mad crows, vampire hunters and feisty bats around there the player must be on the lookout for. Who knows what the forest hides.
The Flower Shop: This building has a white paneling with some vines along the side of it, some flowers outside of the store and a sign that simply says “The Flower Shop”. There are more flowers inside along with a few nomads and The badge seller in there. A rift token can be found in the back room.
The Sheriff's department: Every town must have its own form of law. This building looks like a typical sheriff's department but if it were stuck in the Victorian era. You can’t enter this building but you can see a town villagers outside of it speaking with one of the constables there.
Home Buildings: These buildings come in various shapes, size and colors. Some places you can enter and others you simply can’t. They are all in the Victorian Style.
The Pentecost Manor: This place is a big Victorian mansion that belongs to lady winter’s family. It overlooks the entire village, it looks old and worn on the outside but the inside it’s quite lovely even after the time that has past, It’s said that The Lady lives in that place to which she does, If she isn’t working at the time you can find her there. There is a rose bushes that surround the home and a path that leads into the forest. If one follows that path they can find two gravestones with the names Rosemary and William Pentecost. There is more rose bushes around.
Act One: The Wistful Rose
Time piece: One

“Excuse me dearie...are you lost?” Called out a soft spoken voice. Hat kid looks in the direction the voice came from and walks over to the woman. From what she sees is a white haired lady with pale skin, pointed ears, fangs,Pretty looking eyes, and a black rose in her hair and wears gothic styled clothing. She finds the woman quite curious looking as she hasn’t seen anyone like her before.
“You know a child shouldn’t be in this place but...are you ok dearie? You look a little confused. Did you lose your parents?” The lady speaks sounding a little worried. Hat kid only shakes her head insisting she is fine. The lady sighs before speaking again. “Well if you’re sure kid umm would ye like some food and water? You must be hungry if you came all this way” Hat kid nods as she was a little hungry.
It took a minute or so but that kiddo did get her food and water. While the child is eating The lady asks, “Sooo what brings ye around these parts Dearie?” Hat kid looks at her and explains she is looking for the time pieces. “Timepieces huh? You mean the strange glowing hourglass?” The lady asks. Hat kid nods excitedly.
“Hmmm I think I saw a few of these “Time Pieces” land around town, Perhaps I can be of assistance?” she suggests. Hat kid only smiles seeing that she’d love the help, This woman seems to be genuine with wanting to help her out but...with the last few people she met, she can’t be too sure as people have betrayed her because of these timepieces before.
“The First time piece I placed in the storage room in the back, tho...uhhh you have to find the key and get past my guard bats bats I have, So please be careful ok?” The said says before hat kid runs along to find the key. The key is upstairs in The lady’s little office like area on the desk. The kid finds it weird that there is a room like that in this place but hey maybe it’s where she takes care of import business. Then the hat child heads down to the storage room where she faces the guard bats and get through some parkour like stages. At the end of the level Hat kid can open up a chest and get the time Piece. She decides to walk over to the two.
[If the player did The Arctic Cruise before Shady Hallow]
“Well it’s good tae see ye lassie! How have ye been? Especially after tae whole...errr cruise disaster…” He says.
[If player didn’t do The Arctic Cruise before Shady Hallow]
“Well it’s good tae see ye lassie! How have ye been?” He says
Hat kid smiles showing that she has been doing well then proceeds to ask what he is doing.
“Wot I am doin’? Well ye see lassie, I’m currently makin’ a film here, It’s going tae be an action mystery movie! And Lady Winterrr over ‘ere is gonnae help me out with tae film” He says pridefully. Hat kid looks confused for a moment before realizing he mentioned The Lady’s name. That’s a first since she doesn’t know everyone’s name whom she met prior.
“OH goodness!!” Lady Winter exclaims “How could I forget my manners, I’m Lady winter as Ducty mentioned~ I’m the Bartender in this town!~” she giggles a bit with a smile on her face. Hat kid only greets her and asks what role of the film she is going to play as
“Oh the villain of course~” she replies
“Aye yes, she rrreally good playing that role~” Conductor says, Before he can say anything else They are interrupted by an Express owl.
“U-uh...i’m sorry to butt in but...we have a problem” the owl stammers.
“.....Wot!!?!?!?!? WHAT TAE PROBLEM?!” conductor said raising his voice as of course this freaked him out.
“Welll...y-you see umm” the owl stammered again
“SPIT IT OUT ALREADY!!” conductor shouts.
“It’s seems like some p-props are stolen...s-sir” the owl said nervously?! “STOLEN?! ME PRRROPS ARE STOLEN?! YE OWLS HAD ONE JOB TAE WATCH THE PRRROPS WHILE I WAS OUT WITH WINTERRR!!....ugh ye owls are so darn useless” conductor said sounding very upset before sighing “I’m gonnae ‘ave a drrink” he storms off. Before hat kid can say anything lady winter places her hand on the kids shoulder
“Hmm I think the props could still be in town...perhaps while you explore you can find them, I’m going to check on conductor, but if you need anything you’ll know where to find me.” she says before going after conductor with concern in her face.
And thus Hat kid can explore Shady Hallow some more. She can find the missing props spread around the town, there are 5 in total. And if she gets all five she gets a little prize. As for exploration, Hat kid can look around the town to find secrets, lore and just enjoy the sights in the town. There are two timepieces in total in this level and the kid has to find them either indoors or outdoors. Once she collects one of them, the level ends. Once she gets the second one The Act ends.
Act Three: The Forest
Timepieces: Three
Place: Outside of Town.
Main Characters: Lady Winter [The Lady]
Minor: Nomads, Owls, and C.A.W Agents
Enemies: Hunters, Feisty bats, Mad Crows
Plot:
Hat kid decides to check up on lady winter as she has some questions. She enters the bar seeing as the place happens to be quite empty, well that’s a lie there is at least two, maybe more people but that doesn’t matter right now. Hat kid props herself up onto the bar stool and looks at the vampire lady.
“Huh? Oh hello there dearie? How are you?” Winter asked.
Hat kid smiles saying she is doing alright then asks her how she is doing.
“Oh me? Well i’m ok, tired ye know? But thanks for asking, I'm happy to hear you’re doing alright. Any luck finding those timepieces?” she asks. Hat kid tells her she did find a few but she needs to find some more. Lady winter nods and thinks for a moment.
“Hmmm, have you checked the forest out yet?” winter asks looking at the hatted child. Hat kid only shakes her head no and asks about the forest.
“Well the forest is a quiet yet dark place, and you should be very careful, there are creatures out there that would love to attack you. Also be careful of the hunters...they won’t bother you as long as you don’t attack them.” she informed. Hat kid only nods understanding what she means. After all she herself have been in a spooky forest that being Subcon. She’s confident she can handle herself. But she doesn’t quite know how to get there. So she decides to ask Lady winter how to get to the forest.
“I can take you there if you’d like me to dearie.” Lady winter said and leaves from behind the counter. Hat kid nods excitedly and hops out of the bar stool, heading towards the door as The Lady follows.
It took the two an hour in game time but it’s no problem. Lady winter stops at the edge of the forest then turns to hat kid.
“Well here we are, I hope you remember what I told you about it being dangerous and all...I would love to come with you but being there are hunters in the forest...they aren't fond with beings like me let me put it at that.” she pauses for a moment “but do be careful please?” lady winter said to hat kid. Hat kid nods and run off into the forest.
Hat kid once in the forest can explore and look around the forest. She can find relics and two rift tokens, Hat kid must be careful with the enemies about. There are three timepieces in total in the Forest. Like Act two once she gets all the time pieces the act ends.
Act Four: The Old Pentecost Manor
Timepieces: Three
Place: The Pentecost Manor
Main Characters: Lady Winter [The Lady]
Minor: None
Enemies: Guard bats, Mad Crows
Plot:
After wandering around the forest for awhile she notices something odd. She decides to go through the thick bushes. It took her a bit but she managed to make it through. She noticed two headstones and it looks like they were taken care of recently along with what looks to be roses placed on top of them. Hat kid is confused on who put them there let alone who these graves belong to. The hatted child moves to get a better look at the headstones. She takes a look at them and they read “William and Rosemary Pentecost.” Hat kid wonders who those people are or were. Hat kid looks at the ground and notices there seems to be some sort of path underneath the grass, overgrown perhaps? Hat kid looks behind her and her thoughts were correct. Hat kid walks  along the overgrown path curious as to where it leads. It didn’t take her to long to find a building. She realizes it’s the mansion on the hill. Hat kid decides to head inside, nobody should be home since the place looks so old outside right? Well those thoughts turned out to be wrong because once she stepped inside she is met with a beautiful home. Why doesn’t this place look nice on the outside? If it’s nice inside......Then who is living her? Being the curious child she was the hatted child decided to explore around this manor. She never thought mansions could be so big, But then again she only explored very little of Vanessa’s manor, Though hat kid can tell this place is much bigger than Queen Vanessa’s Manor. After wandering in one of the rooms she notices a candle holder that seems out of place. Hat kid took a deep breath and walked over to the candle holder, unsure if it’s booby trapped or not. But only one way to find out right? She grabs the candle holder and pulls it. Sure enough it was in fact some kind of lever but to what? A click can be heard from somewhere in the house. Hat kid thought it was odd but went to find the source of the noise regardless. This place, this strange place, Who did it belong to? Who lived here? What does this place hide? So many questions yet so few answers. The hatted child spent some time wandering around the manor she noticed some kind of door is opened in the study...odd, that wasn’t there before right? She walks over to the door and looks down to where it leads. Stairs? The child descends down the stairs and she hears someone talking. A familiar voice as a matter of fact. Hat kid stopped at the bottom of the stairs, it looks like some kind of basement, the child figured she went through some kind of secret passageway to get to the basement. She shrugs and goes off to find the voice she keeps hearing that voice…
“With this...I can bring them back…”
Bring who back the child wondered. She gets closer
“....Things could’ve been different right?...right?”
And closer
“I can see my mom….my dad would’ve been happy...I..”
Soft crying can be heard as hat kid enters the room. And who does she see? None other then Lady winter of course...crying. The child walks over to her. The vampire’s ears perk up as she can hear her approach. Hat kid stop seeing she has the timepiece in her hands, oh no...was she wrong about this lady being nice? Is she going to betray hat kid like everyone else.
“Oh...hey dearie..I uhh” lady winter sniffles a bit and wipes her eyes but the tears keep flowing. “I’m sorry you have to see my like this...I r-really am” she continued. Hat kid tells her it’s alright but why does she have the time piece.
“.....I thought of bringing back people I-I lost...but...I realized how pointless it would be...Besides would they even be the same people whom I cared about...I can’t change the past...and I think...I think” the vampire stops talking and starts to full out sob, Is she, having a break down the kid thought. She doesn’t understand why she is so upset, At least she didn’t try to stab the kid in the back she thought. Seeing her upset mad hat kid sad and feel sorry for her. The child walks over and gives the vampire woman a hug. She didn’t know what to say so she just let The Lady cry it out. Lady winter drops the time piece to her side and cries softly
“I’m so sorry...I really am, I didn’t mean to t-take it honest…” Lady winter sobbed softly, she feels so awful, she knew the kid needed those timepieces and yet she took it anyway for a thought she feels is selfish right? Hat kid pats her back reassuring her it’s alright, she’s not upset just surprised.
“You...you don’t hate me?” Winter asked looking at hat kid, wiping away her tears with the ends of her sleeves. The child shakes her head after all how can she hate someone over something as simple as that. In hat kids eyes lady winter just missed people and wanted to bring them back. She’d do the same thing if given the chance, she couldn’t dream of a life without her own parents or sibling. Lady winter smiles and feels a little bit better, “You know...you’re too nice to someone like me” lady winter spoke softly. Hat kid only giggled and booped her nose. The lady chuckles and gently boops back “boop!”
Lady winter almost forgot “oh right uhh, your timepiece!!” she exclaimed. The vampire hands hat kid the time piece, the hatted the child told her thank you and took it.
Thus this is the End of The Chapter.
Time Rifts
The Bar: The bar is a blue time rift is located in a corner booth table. As for the level itself is based off of the bar’s interior and the player must be quick with their timing.
The Old Manor: The Old manor is a purple time rift that contains a story book in it about Lady winter’s childhood. But besides that, the time rift takes place in the manor. But except of the normal platforming, the player gets to explore and fight a time rift boss. The time rift boss is but a shadowy version of her Great uncle Vlad. He represents her fear of him and getting hurt again since the time rifts are based off of the person's mind. He’s quite tough to beat as he is very strong and has quite a bit of health. Shadow Vlad will also taunt the player and make references to Lady winter herself. Unfortunately they aren’t exactly nice things, rather they are sad but give hints on the full story in winter’s past.
Happiness Found: This is the second purple rift that also contains a story book about lady winter and conductor. The rift itself is a simple plat-former puzzle rift that shows references on lady winter’s and conductor’s relationship as well as how much he changed her life and how happy he made her feel. The happiest she’s been in the longest time, it’s safe to say things really did turn around for her.

WIP comparison of Odyssey and A Hat in Time
First of all, I just want to say that I enjoyed both games. But I definitely feel Odyssey doesn’t deserve all of the 10/10s it’s getting, and I feel A Hat in Time was a better game overall and may even deserve Game of the Year. I’m working on polishing this up, but here is somewhat of a WIP of some different categories and the two games in relation to them. Please don’t get upset in the comments, I am fully open to hearing alternate opinions so I’d appreciate if you could phrase them in a way that lets us discuss :>
Also, this contains VERY minor spoilers for both games, such as “this repeating midboss is annoying” something like that.
The WIP:
A Hat in Time, like Odyssey, does not require you to obtain all the collectible Time Pieces to finish the game. But unlike Odyssey, each collectible Time Piece, besides maybe one, is a complete joy to obtain. That’s of course easier to do with 40 collectibles than with 800 (I know this number is wrong), but I don’t think we should look at the game with 800 collectibles and say “Hey, this game has more collectibles. That is necessarily a good thing.” Maybe there’s some kind of analogy to be made with inflation here, but it probably would have been possibly to make each and every Power Moon a joy to collect, too. Power Moons for the most part did not feel very special to obtain for me, and many of them felt more like a chore. The ones that I consistently enjoyed were the Goombalinas, the five mini-moons, the hidden parts of 2d stages, and a few more. But there were a ton of Power Moons that were extremely easy or just not much fun or just plain frustrating to collect, and I don’t think the game deserves credit for that.
Odyssey has 17 playable stages, but other than visuals, do the stages really have that much difference? I found myself getting bored of Odyssey’s repetitive world design very quickly. I feel the game relied heavily on designing levels around the quirks of the captures rather than design platforming for Mario himself. If the captures had a few more options, I think that could have been a great thing, but the captures were pretty limited and Mario himself felt much better to control in most cases. A Hat in Time excels in stage design, each world feeling completely different than the last with a different structure and yet all sticking to the core platforming mechanics. Mafia Town is a half circle, while Subcon is flat and Alpine Skyline is a cylinder surrounded by more cylinders. Each level in design, music and atmosphere is resoundingly different than the last, and the same simply can’t be said for Odyssey.
One of the things I found amazing about the soundtrack for A Hat in Time, especially after listening to it more, was just how well Pascal Michael Stiefel was able to capture completely different atmospheres so well. This guy clearly had a fantastic understanding of which instruments made which sound, and consistently, A Hat in Time had great music. Odyssey, on the other hand, has great music... in about 4 or 5 stages. But when you really listen to the soundtrack, you realize that some of the stages have very short and repetitive music that just does not match up to the quality of the first parts of the game. Cascade Kingdom is an example of one of the game’s best kingdoms. Give its music a listen and compare it to the instance of the Lost Kingdom’s music, which I actually turned off while I was going back through the level because it was actually bothering me.
Graphically, my first instinct was to say that Odyssey won out. Looking at Cascade Kingdom and Metro Kingdom, how could A Hat in Time even compare? But... the thing is, those two Kingdoms are by far the prettiest and most detailed of the Kingdoms. Some of the Kingdoms pale in comparison, bringing up once again the problem of inconsistent design. A Hat in Time may not look as modern, but it’s stylization in itself deserves credit, and it’s certainly not lacking in consistency. While I can’t say A Hat in Time is the most gorgeous game ever made, I can’t complain- but I feel the same way about Mario Odyssey.
As far as controls go, I didn’t enjoy having to throw my hat out to double jump. I didn’t enjoy having to press 2 buttons to air dash, and I didn’t enjoy accidentally ground pounding to my death sometimes because I pressed ZL + B instead of Y. I’ll be honest, even after completing that game, I still wasn’t very good at controlling Mario. Maybe I’m just bad at the game, and that could explain why I didn’t enjoy it as much. But I’m not sure that’s it. Mario was definitely fluid to control, but simple movements like your long jump or a single jump off a platform were also very punishable. I would definitely say that controlling Mario takes more skill than controlling Hat Kid, but... I wouldn’t say that makes Odyssey the better game, or even more rewarding. The main thing is, in my own experience, controlling Hat Kid once I got used to her was... ridiculously fun. I’m not sure anything could compare to that. When I 100%d A Hat in Time fully, having gotten all possible rift tokens, yarns, and Time Pieces, I just went to my favorite level and platformed around as Hat Kid for about 30 minutes with absolutely no goal. I think that in itself speaks volumes for just how fun the controls are to the game. This is somewhat opinion based as well, probably, but I encourage you to check out A Hat in Time and see if you fall in love with the movement, too.
(Spoiler: Mario has no story) Story-wise, neither game was going for anything revolutionary. But, I have to say, that in Odyssey, I found myself very annoyed at the repeated “catch up to Bowser, fight Broodal, fall behind and restart” process that happened for the ENTIRE GAME. It started agitating me after the third time, and didn’t really stop. A Hat in Time’s story wasn’t anything fantastic either, and to be fair the ending was pretttyy corny.
Length-wise, it will definitely take someone longer to 100% Mario Odyssey than A Hat in Time. 40 collectibles compared to 800. But, I spent more time in A Hat in Time, because I had no desire to collect the rest of the Power Moons. I was not having fun, and so I stopped playing. Odyssey’s story is arguably shorter than A Hat in Time’s, so the real question is: how long can you play while fully enjoying the game? Since every collectible in AHiT is a pleasure to collect, the game is more fun for longer. (While one isn’t drunk on nostalgia, at least.)
It is also important to note that A Hat in Time has some inconvenient glitches, mainly graphical though and they hardly take away from the gameplay. I’ve yet to see anything more than a minor inconvenience.

AHIT Twin AU- Subcon Festival
Hey guys sorry for the long update! Work has been busy with the holidays and I’ve been focusing more on my AHIT AU, A Royal Problem then creating content for Winter’s Twin AU. However, that doesn’t mean I gave up on this story. I do have a couple of ideas just no way how it will flow.
Other than that I hope you enjoy this chapter! It's another wholesome one taking place during MJ and Luka’s childhood!
Enjoy!!
@winterpower98
Paint, newspapers, markers, and pens scattered all over the table as MJ and Luka were designing their masks for the annual Subcon Summer Solstice Festival!
When kids from Subcon turn eight years old, they create masks based on their guardian spirits. Every year, on the night of the Summer Solstice, the kids get to wear these masks along with fancy capes.
MJ and Luka were excited as they were finally eight years old and could design their masks and capes. Since they turned eight, they spent their nights after school coming up with designs for their masks. It took a while of brainstorming concepts, deciding which one to go with, as well as coming up with a color scheme for the mask, but the twins settled on a design and finally got to work on their masks.
Richard came in and smiled seeing MJ finishing up his mask, while Luka was already coloring in his. “How is the mask decorating going, boys?” He asked.
“Almost done.” MJ said as he finished detailing his mask with the red paint. “There! Perfect!” He exclaimed, looking at his mask. Richard came over and took a good look at his son’s mask.
The mask was in the shape of a crescent moon, pale blue in color with red markings. To Richard, it looked as though his son made a cat mask like his mother’s.
“It looks amazing, Michael.” Richard commented, ruffling his son’s hair. MJ chuckled, glad to see his father loved his mask, and that he didn’t call it a cat like Luka did when he showed him the design.
“Doesn’t it look like a cat to you, dad?” Luka asked, pausing his work.
“For the last time Luka, it’s not a cat. It’s my moon spirit!” MJ corrected him.
Richard chuckled and ruffled Luka’s hair. “Well, cat or not, it’s a wonderful mask Michael.” Richard told him. MJ smiled in reply. “How is your mask coming along, Luka?” Richard asked as he turned toward the younger twin.
“Still painting mine. It needs the right shade of purple!” Luka replied, as he added a bit more purple to the mask.
“Don’t put too much paint, kiddo.” Richard reminded his son. “It needs to dry all day today for the festival Friday night.”
Luka paused his painting and looked at his mask. It looked like a ghost, somewhat, but purple. It was already a deep dark purple, due to all the paint the younger twin put on it. He decided before the paint could bleed on the other side of the mask, he should stop.
“Then, yeah I’m done.” Lucka nervously chuckled.
Richard laughed and ruffled the younger twin’s hair. He took a good look at his younger son’s mask; it was almost like his own mask, unique and special! “You have the same creativity as me, kiddo.” Richard commented. “I’m proud of you, both of you.” He said as he put his arms around his twin boys. The boys chuckled - they had already been so excited for this festival, and seeing their masks already receive so much praise from their father made them even more excited.
“Alright boys.” Angela, the twins’ mother spoke up as she walked into the kitchen. The twins looked up at their mother with a smile. “I got your capes all done and ready!” She told them.
The twins gasped, hearing their capes were done, and ran to their parents' room to look at them. Angela chuckled and followed her boys upstairs. Once the twins made it to their parents room, they were in awe at their new capes.
“I call the purple one!” Luka shouted as he made it to the purple cape that would fit his mask. MJ sighed and walked over to the red cape and picked it up. He smiled and put the cape on, trying it on.
Angela walked in to see her boys had tried on their capes and were showing them off. “Like them?” She asked.
“Love them!” The twins exclaimed at the same time. “Though I would’ve liked for MJ’s to be purple like mine.” Luka added.
Angela gave a light chuckle, “Well I made them different so I can tell you two apart. Even with your masks being different, I don’t want you two to be trading places all night.” She explained. MJ and Luka looked at each other, knowing their mother was  starting to catch on to their switching places plan.
“Well, it was fun while it lasted.” Luka said, giving a shrug. MJ chuckled.
A couple of days passed, and soon it was the night of the festival. MJ and Luka were in their capes and masks, looking outside, seeing many of the kids and their parents walking to where the fair is being held. “Mom! Dad! Are you ready yet?” Luka called out.
“Almost, sweetie!” Angela called out.
“But you said 'almost' like three times now!” Luka yelled back.
MJ chuckled. “You know “almost ready” in adult talk means they’re not ready yet.” He told his little brother. Luka crossed his arms; he didn’t want to wait any longer! MJ sighed and put his arm around his little brother. “The festival is going to last till midnight, we’ll have lots of time at the festival.” Luka smiled and put his arm around his older twin.
“Okay! We’re ready!” Richard shouted. Luka released himself from his older twin brother, quickly put on his mask, and ran to the front door. MJ quickly went after his brother, putting on his mask as he went after him, and stopped him from running out the door. The twins waited in front of the door and saw their parents come in with their masks and capes.
“Mom?” MJ asked. They’ve been walking to the festival grounds for five minutes, and MJ had to ask something of  his mother.
“Yes, sweetie?” Angela replied.
“Is it alright, if at some point at the festival, me and Luka could go around by ourselves?”
Angela thought about it for a bit. She asked that question to her mother when she was her son’s age, and she ended up getting lost. However, she was found by a young boy who stood by her the rest of the festival till her mother found her. Though MJ did have Luka, and those two knew how to stick together even if they did get lost.
“If you promise me, that you two don’t split off and will stick together. Then it will be alright.” Angela told her son.
MJ smiled. “Thanks mom!” He beamed, hugging her. “Luka, want to have fun and explore the festival ourselves?” He asked.
Luka smiled. “Oh yeah!” He beamed. The two boys laughed, seeing their night at the festival was going to be fun.
The Subcon Summer Solstice Festival was filled with many booths with food and fun activities to do. Sure, the twins have done this for a few years, but tonight was special! They were eight years old and that means they can do all the special stuff together. MJ and Luka’s eyes sparkled, as the festival felt different now that they were wearing their Subcon Festival masks. MJ had to lift his up a bit to see all the twinkling lights.
“Keep your mask on, Michael.” Richard reminded his son.
“Sorry.” MJ replied, as he put his mask back on, as well as putting on his hood. He then took Luka’s hand, and the two were ready to sprint off.
“Hold it, boys.” MJ and Luka stopped, hearing their mother speak up. “I know you two are excited, but please stick together, you two.”
“Mom I told you, we promise not to split up.” MJ reassured her.
“I know, but I need to remind you.” Angela told her son. She put her hand on MJ’s shoulder and got close to his eye level. “Now if you do get lost, don’t go looking around for each other, stay where you are. Your father and I will be walking around the festival. If you see us come to us, okay?” She explained.
MJ and Luka nodded, “Okay!” They said.
Angela smiled and got up. “Alright, go have fun, you two.” The twins laughed and ran off to enjoy  the festival. Angela and Richard watched their boys with a smile. Richard pulled his wife close to him, making her blush.
The twins were having fun together at the festival, eating delicious snacks like cookies and candy, as well as playing some of the games. They were playing well into the night, when the sun had set and the stars were out twinkling in the sky. The twins decided to relax outside of the festival, and enjoy their cookies while watching the night sky.
“I’d say this was a successful and fun festival!” Luka exclaimed.
MJ chuckled. “The festival is always fun, but it was successful!” MJ replied. The twins continued eating their cookies, till they heard a rustle coming from the bushes. The twins  turned around, but saw no one. “Hello?” MJ called out. However, no one came out of the bushes.
“Relax, MJ. It’s probably dad trying to scare us.” Luka reassured his older twin brother. However, a few minutes passed, but Richard didn’t pop up to scare his sons. “Dad? Is that you?” He asked. Soon they heard sniffles coming from the bushes and went over to investigate the sound.
There, they saw a young girl in a blueish-green cape, wearing a peacock-like mask, her blonde hair tied into pigtails. The twins looked at her and walked over to her. “Hey, are you okay?” Luka asked.
The girl stopped crying and turned to the twin boys. “No.” She sniffled, turning away from them.
Luka walked closer to the girl and sat down with her. “What’s wrong?”
“I ran away.” The girl replied. “I never get to go to the Subcon Summer Festival, so I decided to sneak out and go myself. Just for a little bit.” She started to explain. “But, now I feel bad because no one went looking for me.” The young girl started to cry, making the two brothers wonder what they should do to help her.
“Do you,” Luka started. “Want us to help you find your family?” He asked.
The young girl let out a sniffle and lifted her mask to wipe the tears from her eyes. “It doesn’t matter. No one is looking for me. They don’t care.”
“They do.” MJ spoke up. “You just got lost. I’m sure someone is out there looking for you.” He explained.
“Really?” The girl said, turning to the twins. The twins nodded. Even if the twins couldn’t see it, the young girl smiled and got up. “Okay.” Luka smiled and held his hand out for the girl to hold it as they headed back to the festival grounds.
Back at the festival, Angela and Richard were waiting on their sons as they haven’t heard or seen them for quite some time. “Where are they?” Angela asked. “I hope they didn’t get lost.”
Richard put his hand on her shoulder. “They could still be having fun, just give it some time. Once it gets late, we’ll look for them.” He promised.
“Okay.” Angela replied.
Not long after, MJ and Luka were back on the festival grounds and spotted their parents. “Mom! Dad!” MJ called out. Angela and Richard turned to see MJ running towards them. Angela quickly hugged her son as MJ hugged her back.
“Where were you?” Angela asked.
“Luka and I were stargazing and we met this young girl who was lost.” MJ explained. Angela and Richard looked up to see Luka holding the young girl’s hand.
The young girl slowly let go of Luka’s hand and rubbed her arm. Angela kneeled down to the young girl. “We thought if we brought her back here, someone will find her.” Luka explained.
“Well, what’s your name?” Angela asked.
The young girl was about to speak her name, but was cut off when they heard someone calling for the young girl’s name. “Young princess!” The young girl looked up to see an older man looking for her.
The girl gasped and called back to the man. “Carson!” She shouted back. Carson then heard the young girl’s voice and ran to it. Once he saw her he gave the young girl a hug.
“Where were you? Your mother has been frantically looking for you?” Carson asked, wondering where the young girl’s whereabouts were.
“Sorry, I just wanted to have fun at the festival.” The young girl explained. “Then I ended up getting lost, and thought you didn’t care about looking for me.”
Carson sighed. “I didn’t stop looking for you.” He told the young girl. The younger girl looked up at the man, and gave a smile. Carson then looked up at the twins and their parents. “Thank you for finding the princess.”
“Don’t thank us.” Richard spoke up. “It was our boys who found her.”
MJ and Luka smiled proudly. Carson gave a soft chuckle and faced the boys. “Thank you.” He repeated.
“You’re welcome!” Luka exclaimed. The young girl giggled, and slightly blushed at Luka. The younger twin smiled and blushed as well in reply.
“Well, we'd better get going then. Your and your mother’s flight is tomorrow morning.” Carson explained.
The young girl nodded and took her butler’s hand, leaving the festival. The young girl turned to the twins and waved goodbye to them. The twins waved  to the young girl in reply. “Think we should get going too?” Richard asked.
“Yeah.” MJ replied, before letting out a yawn. After all the fun they had, helping out the young girl, plus it being well-past their bedtime, it was time for the family to leave the festival and head home. Angela and Richard picked up their boys and started walking home.
Meanwhile, the young girl relaxed in the back seat of the limo. “That boy was so nice to me!” She sighed. “I hope to meet him again.”
Carson softly chuckled. “Seems like you have a little crush, Vanessa.” He commented.
Vanessa looked at her mask and smiled thinking of the twins, mainly Luka. Though she didn’t see their faces, and they didn’t see hers, it wouldn't be impossible to see each other again. “I do.” She sighed. Vanessa looked out the window thinking about the boys she met, and hoped to one day see them again.

AHIT Twin AU-Welcome to ClockworkBurg
Got another AHIT fanfic for you all! So this month I’ve been into this new AU by @winterpower98 called Twin AU. Its a modern AU where Snatcher and Moonjumper are alive and twins brothers. Its my favorite AU and I wanted to write some stories for this AU.
Now these will be a series of drabbles and I have a TON of ideas for this AU. I recommend checking this AU its really good and has some comics and lore to it.
Enjoy!
Two brothers, Luka and Micheal or MJ as he’s called by his friends were finishing up packing everything from their small home in Subcon to the city their caretaker, Cookie recommended. It was for the best as the youngest twin, Luka was dealing something concerning with his ex-fiance, Vanessa and they needed to leave their home town because of it.
Luka took this the hardest, from his ex-fiance there was also the death of him and his brother’s parents and now they have to leave their hometown. All this plus the trama made the young man quiet and just packed everything in silence.
MJ finished packing the last of his stuff and was about ready to go. “Luka, you ready?” MJ called out. Luka turned to his brother and gave a nod grabbing the box and heading to the car. He put his stuff in the backseat of the car before getting in the passenger seat. MJ followed after and went in the driver’s side and started the car.
The ride to the city, ClockworkBurg was going to take five hours, and the car was nothing but silence. No music was playing on the radio, the brothers weren’t having a conversation. MJ glanced at his younger twin who just kept staring at the window as they drove by everything.
MJ thought of what he could talk about with his brother to make the ride less quiet. “Do you want to play some music?” MJ asked.
Luka turned towards his brother and replied, “Fine by me.” he mumbled. MJ gave a small smile and turned the radio on as they continued their five hour drive to ClockworkBurg. Since the first time since they left MJ saw a small smile form on his brother’s face.
By sunset, they finally made it to ClockworkBurg where a lady was waiting for them by the house. The lady smiled and waved to them as they parked their car. MJ and Luka both got out of the car, with the later feeling a bit comfortable now that they are away from Vanessa.
The woman chuckled and hugged the two boys. “You made it!” she beamed. “I hope the ride here was okay?”
MJ chuckled. “It was fine, don’t worry Cookie.” He replied.
Cookie smiled and turned towards Luka who looked like he was trying to be comfortable. She then turned towards MJ. “How is he?” She asked.
MJ frowned and looked at Luka. “He’s okay, still get tense from the tauma. Best not to touch anywhere in his hands or wrist area.” He explained.
Cookie sighed and shook her head. “I’m sorry you two went through all that, especially Luka. You just lost your parents and now Luka’s situation was just the cherry on top with everything going on.”
MJ gave a small smile to his former caretaker chef. “Don’t worry. I think moving here, Luka will slowly get better.” He hoped. Cookie hoped so too, and started to help the guys bring their stuff into their new house.
The brothers grabbed their stuff from the car and started to unpack their stuff. The faster they can unpack the important things, the faster MJ and Luka can eat because they were starving. Luka was in his room unpacking his books and clothes, and flinched when Cookie came in.
“S-sorry Luka I just wanted to let you know dinner is done in five minutes.” Cookie reminded.
Luka breathed heavily before sighing in relief. “N-no its okay. Yeah I’ll be there soon.” He replied. Cookie nodded, but before she could leave she came back holding a box.
“Oh Luka, your brother got you something.” Cookie said handing over a box to the younger twin. The twin raised an eyebrow before taking the box from his former caretaker. Before he could open it a little black kitten came out and mewled at the man. Luka was speechless at the kitten, but as he was about to ask Cookie was about to explain. “Your brother told me everything that happened, and I figured you would need some comfort. So he got you a kitten to help with your trauma.” She explained.
Luka put the box down and held the kitten in his arms. The kitten was black and had glowing yellow eyes. It gave Luka almost a ghostly spirit vibe and was just ready for the cat to talk once Cookie left the room.
The kitten looked up at him before nuzzling on his chest purring. Cookie chuckled. “Aww she likes you.”
Luka gave a chuckle. “She sure does.” He replied. Luka and MJ never had an experience with animals, unless they counted the fish they took care of as children, class pets, and a family friend’s dog, the twins never owned their own pet.
The kitten went up to Luka and gave him a lick on the cheek, which earned him a chuckle. The first time he truly chuckled since the whole ordeal. MJ heard his little brother’s chuckle and he came in to see what was so funny, but stopped in his tracks seeing the cat in his brother’s arms.
“I see Lu found his welcome home present.” MJ said,
Luka smiled and went over to his brother giving him a hug. “Thanks MJ.” MJ smiled and hugged his brother back.
“Anytime little bro.” MJ replied. MJ gave the cat a pet who then replied giving a purr. MJ chuckled as he and his brother smiled at their new family member. Cookie smiled seeing the boys getting along with their new family member. “Do you have a name for her?” MJ asked.
Luka chuckled. “I just got her MJ. I don’t know what to name her.” He replied.
“Well I’m sure you two will come up with a name soon.” Cookie said putting her arms around the twins. “After dinner of course.” MJ and Luka felt their stomachs rumble realizing they were hungry. Luka and MJ shared a laugh and headed towards their new kitchen to have dinner.
Luka set his new kitten down who followed them to the kitchen and watched the two brothers having dinner with Cookie and enjoying their new home. The kitten smiled happy her new owners are here and happy.
