There's something about blurryface (album) that's kind of like. Sticky. In the way that your skin is sticky when it's summer and it's past midnight and you have the window open to try to sleep but it's still too warm. Or, sticky, in the way that your hands are clammy when it's drop dead winter and you're driving around someone else's suburb, looking down the weird little leftover alleys between houses and wondering if something's going to be standing there looking back at you. And you are profoundly lonely. And you walk to a gas station, it's september maybe, and everything smells like spilled gasoline and stale cigarette smoke and there's brightly colored trash in all the gutters and all the neon signs glare off the asphalt, and when you go into the convenience store the single employee looks at you like maybe there's something weird about you, but you don't know what it is. Too quiet, maybe. Something wrong with your face. You don't smile enough. You don't want to be smiled at. It's dark all the time. But it's also springtime and the sky is pink and everything feels fleshy and delicate and rabbit-esque (tiny little heartbeats bursting everywhere), and you pick the first dandelion you see growing through the sidewalk cracks and it gets sticky milk all over your fingers. And you are profoundly lonely. You're pretending things would be better if you lived in a city where it rained more often and you could feel the hum of passing train tracks under your feet, but the truth is you're going to be lonely everywhere you go because there's this sticky ugly hollowness in you that you can't wash off no matter how hard you scrub. And maybe it would be better if you drove back home and closed the window and never left your house again and let all the lightbulbs die because something about the dark hurts less. You're running from something. What is it? Why can't you ever quite catch your breath? Why are you so sure this all has to end badly? You grew up but haven't yet learned how to grow out of anything. It's dark all the time here. Your face isn't the right one but there are no other faces. Your skin is sticky and you can't sleep. You are profoundly lonely.

I could see Jimmy's struggles on Earth being more about keeping a job/supporting himself. I definitely agree he's had some issues with police, but it's minor stuff like getting into fights at bars or petty thief.

Especially with his horrible personality, it's probably was hard not only finding a decent job, but one he felt comfortable in/believing he was a part of the team.

Giving him a laundry list of crimes makes it seems that predators like him are easy to spot when that's completely not true.

I’m not saying that Jimmy is like someone who slips under the radar completely, he does and says shit that’s weird, abrasive, threatening even but it’s never to the extent of outright suspicion. He’s just before that category and that’s part of the struggle. You have people like Curly that see the parts that aren’t all bad, even if they aren’t great, and those that don’t want to be involved when he steps over the line. On Earth, him crossing the line was seen with a sort of inevitability, people like Curly are much farther and fewer between.

He has a bad record but not an horrible one. He’s rude and abrasive but not outright violent. He’s bad with people but not in a way they stay away from him, he can’t keep them around outside of like Curly and non-comital pals, they probably don’t see enough of him to care. Jimmy’s in the perfect situation where he can just scrap by on his own but he’d be miserable. He’d always be on the cusps of comforts and stability someone like Curly or Swansea or Anya are stable enough in.

It’s why it’s easy to see why he could be given the benefit of the doubt. Why someone would pity and try to give him a step up or even try to find him a way out when he fucks up. He’s already pretty fucked in life why make it harder? But it’s the exact reason why you kinda shouldn’t. It can embolden the worse parts of him but he isn’t naturally trying to get away with the worse, it’s just he will if he starts to realize he can.

Omg I just realized smth (bnha spoilers)

After reading the latest chapter, this exchange from 406 kinda confused me.

When I first read this page, I thought it was saying that AFO accidentally killed Yoichi.

However, we see in the latest chapter that AFO was definitely aware that he just killed his little brother.

BUT

According to this last chapter (408), he didn’t know that the quirk factor he gave to Yoichi was missing, and what *I* realized is that AFO was going after Kudou in that flashback to get Yoichi’s quirk back in his possession. But unfortunately for AFO, Kudou had already passed on Yoichi (his quirk and his “will”) to Bruce.

Which means that in that panel, AFO is asking Kudou where Yoichi’s quirk went.

Which also basically means that Kudou’s words

“Yoichi? He’s gone, demon lord… You killed him”

is him going

“I hAvE nO iDeA wHaT yOu’Re TaLkInG aBoUt, mIsTeR dEmOn LoRd. LaSt TiMe I cHeCkEd, YoU kInDa DiSiNtEgRaTeD hIm.”

Even though Kudou definitely knows AFO’s talking about Yoichi’s quirk.

funny to compare how i started my year vs how its ending (fandoms im writing for, fic length range, themes and tropes i’m preferring, etc).

i’ve found that although ive maybe written less and had less interaction in general from readers this year i’ve truly found some amazing people that i consider good friends on here now :’) and i wouldn’t swap that for anything!!

this is a rendog singing appreciation post

because he is really good. he goes off! i mean, the vibes of that whole scene were impeccable - the creaking forest, the crackling of the campfire, the calm of night - but ren's voice goes so hard. vibes, and also technically speaking!

ren's got this gorgeous vibrato on low notes (you can hear it most times he holds a note at the end of a measure for more than a second) that is so warm and so inviting. scratchy, and deep, and always held for just the right amount of time. and he only does it on some long notes, not all of 'em - which is hard to do! holding notes at a constant pitch is harder than hitting vibrato on everything, and he has a beautiful blend of both that he makes seem effortless. (and he holds vibrato on hard sounds too! he hits it on the first "rising sun" which is on an n, which is imo hard to pull off well)

he also has the whole song down pat! there's a brief point (two notes, maybe three?) where he diverges from the melody, but he's still picked notes in the key of the song, which implies he could probably harmonize with the song too. and that is also very hard to pull off!

and just the whole - he has such a unique voice. it's emotive and warm and encompassing. technicals aside, it's a uniquely moving voice and it fits rising sun particularly well.

not to mention he's freaking playing guitar! which means at least part of his brain is focused on notes over the technicalities of singing, which means that all of his skill is instinctive! like he's probably not focusing on vibrato!

like when jimmy said "that's very good!" jimmy was correct! i was shocked when i heard ren singing. like that is Not what i was expecting from my minecraft youtuber!

anyway this is a pitch for ren. PLEASE sing more. please. a cover of the song maybe? for me??
