Anyways, inspired by the confusion au and also the Drabble you did recently of Oscar and Carlos hate sex turned dating!

Basically Oscar hates his apartment . Fortunately he has so many great friends in Monaco! He loves to hang out with them and if maybe he happens to stay a little late and crash in the spare room or on the couch well it’s just because he likes to spend time with them not because he can’t stand the thought of being alone kin his sterile apartment.

He’s a little self conscious of the facts he’s a grown ass adult and can’t live on his own so he devises a plan… he creates a roster, Max, Carlos, Lando, Charles, repeat. He has contingencies too, Max and Lando playing video games? That’s fine, he’s still got Charles of Carlos, in the event that all four of them are doing something he might even be able to pull of crashing at Alex’s place.

He manages this for about 6 months without seeming to draw too much suspicion, of course being away most weekends helps disguise the fact he’s over at their places so much. But eventually they corner him after a race and he’s expecting at best some questions about why he never invites them to his place and and worse to be banished from their hospitality doomed to return to his empty flat.

The last thing he’s expecting is for Charles to point and accusatory figure at him and say “you can’t just date all of us at once with out letting us know, that’s just rude.”

Date???? Oscar is confused.

“I can’t be dating all of you at once what are you talking about? I’m not dating any of you?”

He’s met with four cries of outrage

Carlos: I’ve been wining and dining you at expensive restaurants for months!

Charles: We coparent a dog together!

It’s not Oscar’s fault that his perception of friendship is weird, he just liked spending time with them all especially if it meant not having to be alone in his damn apartment. Besides none of them ever said it was anything more than friendly.

And Charles being offended that Leo's 2nd dad doesnt feel part of the family?? Like wow what a bad coparent!

With Max, Osc has never slept on the sofa or spare room, Max just alwsys made him sleep in his bed with him cos the cuddles were great and comfy and that means something right??

Oscar just being baffled cos to him, it was just classic friendship stuff. Also why did not one actually ask him to be their boyfriend?? Isn't that supposed to be a thing??

So. Veilguard impressions so far (I’m about 13.5 hours in). Most of these are mechanical as I don’t feel like I’ve gotten enough time with the companions/story to have many opinions on it, but I feel like I at least have some opinions worth noting lmao (mostly no spoilers but like. Maybe a little so read at your own discretion)

Things I like:

I’m honestly still shocked my computer can actually run it and overall very well too

Character creator is super detailed, I love that

I keep falling off of ledges lmfao so I’m glad there’s no penalty for that

You can pet all the cats and dogs!!!!!

Also love that there’s no carry weight to contend with but I still get to pick up a ton of random items. It satisfies by urge to pick up anything that isn’t nailed down. This is great, especially after bg3 sksks (which I also enjoy as a game but pls why does gold have weight 😭)

So far I like the new companions a lot and I do enjoy these early game little almost… domestic? Or just small scale? Quests you have with them? Idk I dig it. I wasn’t sure about the ‘bond’ thing at first but on further reflection I like that you can gain approval-equivalent just by bringing them along. Makes things easier

I don’t dislike the vibes tbh like I’ve seen people say ‘oh it’s too happy and positive’ and like. Okay yeah 2 of the 3 companions you recruit early on are very bubbly but we also got blight horror all over the place so idk, maybe this is a complaint I’ll understand later but right now I don’t agree with it

Oh and I love the lantern system for when companions have dialogue - it’s a clever way of signifying when they’re all in different buildings

Things I don’t like:

I kinda get what people are saying about the handholding. Why do I need a little tip to tell me ‘[companion] has noted that you told them [thing you just said]’ 😭

Also while the new companions are fun, I do think Harding got hit pretty hard with ‘previous game lore dump’ duty cause damn. Admittedly I don’t remember her personality in inquisition super well but a lot of her dialogue just feels. Off in that way. I get it was necessary to do it somehow but. Oof. I feel bad for her cause it makes me less interested in her 😔

This is minor but I don’t like how when you load a save, it’s not actually where you saved. It’s at the last fast travel point. So it’s like. I found this hard-to-find spot last night. Saved. Planned to continue the quest the next day. Except! I have to find the spot again! And I forgot where it was! Why!!! This is absolutely a remnant of when it was a live service game but woof, why keep that in

Also bringing back the 100 save limit - actual worst feature of inquisition, why the hell would they keep it 💀 if anyone knows a mod to fix this, pls let me know, I need to have like 800 saves per run or I’ll die okay

And this is the big one tbh. I’m sorry but I really don’t like the combat 😶 like. Every boss fight is just the arishok fight except with help. Getting Lucanis has given some improvement cause now there’s at least another melee target on the field but at this point, I’m looking for a stealth option on that giant skill tree (why is it so big! I have no idea what I’m doing with it!!!) so I can go full skyrim (stealth archer) lmao. I’m hoping when I actually get to recruit a warrior (why is this the last class you get, that feels backwards), it’ll get more playable cause I’ll actually have a tank. Right now I just cannot understand why everyone says this is fun, I have had pretty much no fun in any of the fights (I’m becoming the person I was poking fun at before when I said it’s weird to play games if you don’t like half of it skskdk. Also ngl I would not be powering through if this were not a game I already had a vested interest in). Also how did anyone play a mage and make it through the first 10 hours, like I have NO idea. I’ve decided to play rook as like. A discount version of hawke? Cause I feel like that’s the kind of person varric would seek out, like a spark of the familiar is what drew Varric to them. And that’s adding a bit of fun headcanon flavour

(Also I have some suspicions that things are not as they seem with Varric but. We’ll see on that I suppose)

Also it’s funny cause I’ve always been a Solas neutral person (like him well enough but never understood why he was such a big deal to either the lovers or the haters). But I do find him more annoying here lmao. Maybe cause I’m rping too hard and Rook finds him annoying but I just think it’s funny

Some other scam may be transportation, coz people are eyeballin the price. Asked the other passenger instead of the driver or just use gojek (its like uber)

And i think thats it(?) try to bargain prices as well, dont be shy, they usually raise the price so much higher anyway

Oh, there would be a lot of street performer around, dont give them money if you're staying in one place because they would tell every other performance and so more gonna come to ask for money.. they're usually children too, forced to work only for the money to be taken by the thugs who forced them

Its universal to not trust cops.. they dont work unless you have money. Its best to ask for locals help instead, more would usually gather around and help. For example, people here would rather call gojek to help someone for.. anything, and said gojek usually dont expect payment, give them money anyway tho coz thats nice but some would refuse

A warning that the spices might be too much for most people, i have korean friends who swear they can handle spices and im sure they could handle korean spices, but then they got sick from eating a fist of indo spicy chips

Definitely try the restaurant that's crowded with local more than it being fancy. Coz fancy restaurants usually more expensive and uses less spices.. to cater to the tongue and wallet of foreigners

As for places.. i would reccomend sulawesi for nice nature which is mostly untouched unlike bali's beach, maluku is also very pretty, the thing is those place aren't famous for tourism.. so best to have guide since people there rarely understand English unlike bali

Some other places like East java tbh, ive travelled there multiple times- its more of a local tourist spot instead of Bali which is more international

Im sure there are great things in the west side of Indo.. but i live there and it's suck here but.. im sure we have something.. idk what tho- Jakarta is.. the capital, yea its something.. ig, it has.. bus.. and train system, something the other places in Indo doesn't have, sadly

Riau got pretty beaches, Sumatrra's food is the country's favorite

Added note that most places that aren't bali would be very conservative, so while they won't confront you, you would be judged for pda, showing shoulder, or legs.. but again, if you're obviously a tourist they would understand. Some places might deny ur entry for wearing shorts tho

Okay so first it should be said that I find cop characters very interesting in general, especially if they are over the top or a moral grey. I’m a sucker for moral dilemmas and all that stuff and usually these characters are perfect to use for that lol

Then I also find that Hal has a pretty cool design. I mean he’s basically a prototype to Puzzles with his changing screens and cyborg anatomy! His faces are at the same time funny as they are creepy and I think they are fun to draw in my artstyle.

Also the fact that his head is running on Windows XP is so funny to me lmaooo

The thing I love the most about Hal is his personality though. A super nice cop who is very invested with in his job and suddenly switches to a super violent manic when he only spots something remotely illegal. Every episode that figured him in the spotlight like “Mario commits Tax Fraud” and “Officer Meggy” are my absolute favorite older episodes!

Him calmly asking people to stop committing crime and then right after threatening their lives is just my stupid humor man SOBS In general he makes great comedy whenever he’s on screen ngl

However, and here comes missed potential, while he’s more of a very violent comic relief, I also think he could easily be used for more serious scenes! I don’t think it’s necessary, but usually SMG4 characters always have at least some depth despite all the chaos lol

For once there is the whole ordeal with his family, a literal microwave and a toaster and just him treating objects like real people. While it’s just treated as him being a bit insane (which he totally is) I personally headcanon this behavior as him just heavily coping over his lost family by projecting them onto inanimate objects and just in general struggling to differentiate reality and imagination at some points.

Then there is the fact he’s literally an officer or basically embodying half of the SMG4 world’s law enforcement. Given how often the SMG4 crew or others make trouble, he’s actually pretty suited to also appear in more serious arcs and do his job more trouble. Puzzles still can be silly and intimidating, so why can’t he be?

Also if you put the comedy aside, Hal is actually pretty damn terrifying lol That man threatened to rip Mario’s heart out and probably killed a lot of people ngl I don’t remember the Grand Council of Tax Fraud ever appearing again after he carried them away sksks

Still crossing my fingers that he will appear as one of the people guarding Puzzles in prison, you know given he literally threw Mario in a cell there before, BUT UNTIL THEN I WILL PROJECT HIM INTO MY AU /silly

Oh yeah, also “Officer Meggy” also shows that he’s quite caring about his own people and I love protective mentor figure so Yknow ANOTHER WIN. In general I think character dynamics with him can be very fun!

So yeah summary: He’s silly, he’s actually scary if you forget the silly, he has a cool design, he’s a cop, he’s a bit delusional but has a heart, he has angst potential, he’s funny <3

i cannot stress how Insane the queue was. it was unprecedented and even longer than post-london-pride-heaven. i had random cishet locals texting me like “do you know what’s going on in heaven why are there screaming teenagers outside at 6pm”. and i could tell that loads of people travelled far to come see him. and the fan projects were so adorable like. omar is so loved i hope he knows🥹 he did get a lil emo about all the fan projects but honestly i was not surprised at all i had no doubt how loved he is!

i loved the production! i think before this tour he hadn’t really done small room venues like this? i loved the lights, loved the dramatic monologue intro and i was at heidepark too but it felt very new and different. the transitions were so smooth and fun (i especially loved the monologue into lose me) and omar was a superstar as usual

i actually didn’t see much of it with my own eyes because i’m a tragic short king sksks but it was amazing to hear all the new songs for the first(!) time! just really emotional to be able to be at his first international solo show. and he added so many more ballads that everyone loved obviously (although i always get a moment of hysteria seeing him dressed like a slut and being a sad boy) - justice for que puedo hacer though😔✊🏼

if only i could bring all my dear friends it was such a good time🥹

Lotus Eaters: the lotus flowers are hatvare of Nature (Zezzr''a), Love (Olrmo) and Feasts (Briob) (zobj), they have mind-control qualities usual of magic using Love. Lotus Eaters have been influenced by the magic in the hatvare and are generating the forces that make it up, thus causing more growth of the hatvare.

Poseidon: Malja (goddess of Moon, Sea, wife of Sun)

Polyphemus: either a hatvare or a demigod, but I'm leaning demigod. With Malja's reputation of a notorious, constant cheater, she is sure to have mothered a number of demigods in her lifetime.

Hermes: Kalik, again.

Kirke: Devotee of Nrinne. Her shrine is Jauisz, Nrinne, Olrmo. She is a nane who lives in a commune with her human friends, protective of humans.

The Underworld: The crew is sailing on the glass desert, looking at alive souls and the souls of their comrades who did not Pass Over, incl. Polites. After that Ody sees the non-Passed soul of his mother and sees Hal harvest the gem, being witness to the moment of her being Passed Over. Odi gets on the mast and climbs to the crystal bridges, finds his own soulgem and climbs its rope up to Talyaszh’s domain. Because Polites, the only remaining Death Cleric is dead, nobody who died to Malja or Polyphemus could have Passed Over, so their souls are in the in-between state.

Prophet: Talyaszh. they work on the loom, showing Odi the threads of fate intertwining with his own lifethread, shows him many different threads they could weave, but weaves the horrific threads they talk about.

Sirens: hatvare of Killing (R''amir''), Sea (Malja) and Love (Olrmo) (mor''j).

Scylla: Nrinne, she Marks Odi at the end after his betrayal of his people. He made a sacrifice of his people to her.  

Mutiny: after being Marked, Empedocles and the crew rise up against Odi after seeing him collaborate with Nrinne and being Marked by her. They get to an island with great farms and meadows, populated with cattle and poultry. Oblivious, the crew slaughters some cattle, enraging Erpehep. Que the sky gets dark, the wheat is being thrown in the wind, Erpehep rises from the distance, slowly throwing an accusatory finger towards the crew. The moment it points at them is the “We’re too late…” and Iniris appears.

Helios: Erpehep (Agriculture, Farmland, Tradition, Earth, Ground)

God Games: Iniris blocks access of Fezkuho to Szekh, who could overrule Iniris’ judgement. Iniris rules that only if she gains support from other gods, she will let her through to Szekh’s domain

Apollo: Jauisz (Magic, Nonhumans) – Jauisz is unhappy with sirens dying, but Fezkuho points out that there was an overpopulation of sirens and that odi killing them created other forces to make other creatures

Hephaistos: Raheh’’ (Emotions, Mercy, Loyalty, Dreams) – Raheh’’ was unhappy with Odi sacrificing his crew, but Fezkuho points out they betrayed him first and he tried to stop them from stealing Erpehep’s cattle

Aphrodite: Olrmo (Love, Friendship, Passion) – self-explanatory. All the same.

Ares: R’’amir’’ (War, Killing, Hunt) – the same.

Hera: Dioda (Sun, Light, The Common) – She cares not for Odysseus, as there have been many mortals before him and many will come after him. Fezkuho cannot convince her, until she makes a point of him being faithful – Dioda visibly gets sadder, looking to the side, the lack of Malja apparent, and lets him through.

God Games II: Iniris rages, unhappy with Fezkuho gaining support. She duels Fezkuho, while Raheh’’ slips behind her into Szekh’s domain, alarming him. At the end Szekh arrives, as Fezkuho begs to let him go, and Szekh uses his Authority.

Calypso: Not sure, but could be Ysyl (The Unknown, The Alien, Secrets). Would be way freakier than OG Calypso shit, way more eldritch and horror.

Charybdis: a hatvare of Sea (Malja) and Chaos (Ksy), (m[]j)

The Water Saga: Odi returns, but the Storm. Malja is mean, but she promised to Dioda not to touch Odi, so she goes a different route, making him go to his death. When he’s deep in the water, Szekh appears before him, Marking him and making him into a newly fledged Szekhkenoge.  With newfound power, he returns to the surface – Six Hundred Strike happens, then the whole Ithaca saga, Odi surpresses his Authority at first, only letting it go through during Odysseus as he slaughters the suitors.

The Main Suitor: szekhai, shrine is Wer (Indulgence, Wealth, Addiction), R’’amir’’, Szekh. Other suitors are a mix of szekhluin, szekhai and nane

Penelope: Raheh’’, Olrmo, Erpehep, szekhai

The son: he doesn’t have a finished shrine. After Little Wolf he put Fezkuho as a main. Not Awakened during the story, but could Awaken during Odysseus while he was almost killed – depends on what happens.

Oscar gradually realising that Carlos is just a normal guy, and begins to enjoy their relationship. Finally he has a sweet man who likes to take care of him and finds all of his eccentricities endearing rather than weird. But then Carlos invites him home to meet his family and Oscar is like ohhhhhhhh, his family must be the thing about him that's fucked up, why didn't I think of that before!

He agrees to go with Carlos because he may be a tiny bit in love, but he's fully expecting the sainzes to be full on lunatics. They're rich and rich people are always weird, right. Maybe they keep people in their basement or hunt in laws for sport. Oscar is ready to fight for his life, he's even brought his good running shoes and a secret satellite phone just in case.

But no. The sainzes are completely normal. Carlos's dad is calm and welcoming, his mother is so kind, and his sisters are just excited that Carlitos finally brought a boy home. Oscar spends the entire evening waiting for the other shoe to drop, and later that night when everyone is asleep, Carlos catches Oscar searching their room for secret passageways or hidden cameras because seriously there must be something weird about the family. Carlos just finds it funny and it makes him fall even harder for Oscar.

Aksksksk pls my fav carcar trope is Oscar thinking there is something wrong with Carlos but if anyone is the freak its him lol!

Oscar being a little bamboozled that Carlos is just a normal guy and trying so hard to fins something wrong with him! And sure,Carlos has his quirks but he is a great boyfriend and Oscar finds himself liking even the quirks which is baffling! And at the same time, Carlos let's Osc be himself and even seems to like him for it too and Oscar is losing it trying to figure out what the catch is sksks

Carlos inviting Iscar to come to Spain and meet his family and he is adorably shy about it cos its a big deal ofc! But osc just figures its because Carlos's family must be batshit craaaazy and he is ready to fight for his life when they arrive at the house (more like villa,probably). Oscar dressed in work out clothes and running shoes just in case he has to flee but really all it does is make carlos stare at his butt in those leggings sksk. And absolutely screaming at the thought of Oscar bringing a satellite phone just in case he gets hunted for sport by these rich people LMAO

But Carlos's family is so nice??? Carlos Snr hugs him so warmly and even says he is impressed with Oscar's racing so far, and pls Carlos's mum being so excited too she is a little emotional!! And his sisters are all over Oscar cos Carlos finally brought a boy home and its the one they have been hoping for!!

Oscar still being suspicious, because its all just too perfect snd even Carlos's room is beautiful and cosy and Carlos is just so adorably sweet and happy having Osc here!

Carlos waking up to Oscar inspecting the ceiling and he is so confused when Oscar sleepily rambles about hidden cameras. But carlos isnt freaked out, no no, he knows who he is dating and he loves this skekdkw. Carlos just letting Oscar inspect as he wants and then calling him back to bed and look, how can Oscar say no to that when his shirtless boyfriend is looking so perfectly cuddly?

Carlos saying "you're weird, my love" vut he says it with so much admiration that Osc just goes "thank you, baby" all flustered skdksj

You and @ashilrak are so brilliant at writing the gods, they feel like they’re immortal beings who’ve lived for centuries, so I was wondering if you had any tips for writing characters like the gods? You’re both such amazing writers

Hi, and thank you so much!! I was introduced to the myths and history when I was likely far too young (I found a copy of the Iliad very early on haha), and that's influenced how I write, what I studied, and so much more.

I think my biggest tip is honestly just to write. I can see how much my writing's improved since first posting PJO this go-round with the fandom, and sincerely hope it will keep improving! Don't get m wrong, I still love my older stuff, but I very much can see that I've become a much stronger author. Writing is honestly a lot of practise, and figuring out what works for you! I'm definitely better at writing the gods (and anything) now than I used to be.

Reading can also help a ton. Find author/authors (be in fanfiction or published books) you like and note what you like about them. Are they more sparse with their prose? More purple? Do they go between/in the middle of the two? Do they describe every detail? Do they leave more to the imagination? Etc. etc. Seeing what you like and would like to emulate can definitely help, especially when it comes to characterisation.

Advice for writing the gods would be essentially the same as above: write, then write some more; read and keep reading. I love reading the Greek plays and their translations, as well as history in general, and will link a couple of my favourites below that have very much influenced me:

Mythos: The Greek Myths Retold, Stephen Fry - overall not my fav retellings, but I genuinely enjoy his writing, and he makes everything incredibly accessible, and it's a great starting point

Grief Lessons: Four Plays by Euripides (trans. Anne Carson) - anything by her to be honest, she's incredible and I love her

The Odyssey, Homer (trans. Emily Wilson) - this one changed me as a person, specifically this translation haha

The Aeneid, Virgil (trans Shadi Bartsch) - women in translation, my beloveds

Medea, Euripides (trans. Gilbert Murray) - Medea is incredible

The Oresteia: Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers, The Eumenides, Aeschylus (editors Robert Fagles and W.b. Stanford)

Trojan Woman, Euripides (trans. Anne Carson, illustrator Rosanna Bruno) - sorry not sorry for reccing Carson again but this is so good

I could go on for an embarrassing long time, so feel free to ask for recs if you'd like, and so sorry if you've already read all these sksks, I got excited 🧡🧡🧡

I think Colby and Malia relationship is very cute and very healthy (ofc we cannot say for sure but from small info we get it looks like this!). And I don’t understand people who are so against her, even if they don’t claim “they do not want colby”. So what’s their issue? For me the most laughable recent drama of theirs was when they threw a fit over Colby thanking Malia in his post related to beating cancer. “He wrote two sentences for Sam who was by his side through whole process. But whole essay for Malia” blah blah blah. People do not seem to understand that after hospital there is plenty of after treatments , rehabilitation and many more things that lead you to getting better. And that’s why Colby is so thankful to Malia. Because even if she wasn’t by his side when he was diagnosed. She took care of him when he was recovering. Stood by his side and watched over him. That’s the part that Sam probably played less of a role than her (although we cannot know for sure), since he ain’t colby’s gf lol.

third, and this is the part that grinds my fucking gears; i understand this fandom has a knack for putting sam on some weird pedestal. that man could murder someone and get away with it. there are plenty of times over the years that colby has gotten shit for things him and sam both have done, yet nothing is ever said to sam. and i've complained about this time and time again. but the one thing i wholeheartedly WILL NOT TOLERATE is this fandom making colby's cancer journey about sam.

as someone who lost a parent to cancer, sure - it is very difficult to watch someone go thru that. but what my dad went thru was worse than what i am still going thru. so that is why i cannot understand this fandom's need to make colby's cancer about sam. it's great that he helped out, it's great that he was there for him. but like… no shit. that's what you're supposed to do. especially for someone you call your brother. especially with someone you love dearly. sure, you can say he went above and beyond. but at the end of the day, don't not equate him having to help his friend out and struggling to see him go thru it all to LITERALLY colby having cancer.
