Survey #357
“your magic white rabbit has left its writing on the wall  /  we follow like alice, and just keep diving down the hole”
Are you better at telling stories or writing them? Writing, by a long shot. What’s one song you hate, but know every word to? i'm a barbie girl in a fckn barbie woooooorld What’s your favorite magazine? I don’t read magazines. If you could be an animal for one day, which animal would you choose? Probably a house cat. Be indoors and safe, able to just nap... lol. But I'd want another cat as a friend, too! Do you prefer outdoor or indoor concerts/events? Indoors, by a mile. I get hot outside way too easily. Do you know if you were a planned child? I don't know. What’s your favorite gem? Dragon's breath opal. As an adult, do you want to live in an apartment or a house? I'd like to live in a house, especially with the pets I want. I doubt many apartment complexes would allow multiple reptiles and inverts. Do you like the stem or leafy part of the broccoli? It doesn't matter much to me, but I prefer the stem. The texture is more likeable to me. Do bats frighten you? No, I adore bats! Does Paris appeal to you? Yeah, it's a pretty place. Are you a KPOP fan? No, I've never really checked it out. How long was your longest relationship? Over three and a half years. First time you kissed the last person you kissed? We were outside roasting marshmallows one night. Do you have to really know someone to kiss them? Absolutely. I don't dish 'em out for nothing. Were you anyone’s first kiss? No. If you had to be named after one of the 50 states of America, what state would you WANT to be named after? I actually think "Nevada" would be kinda pretty as a name? Do you think morals are universal or relative to the beliefs, traditions, or practices of individuals or groups? I've wondered this for a long while, really. I lean towards it being a mix, maybe? But more towards universal, I think... with some exceptions. This answer is all over the place, I honestly don't know. Is torture ever a good option? If no, why not? If yes, when? No? I think the "why not" is obvious... You just don't. What do you think is one one of the most undervalued professions right now? Teachers, garbagemen, retail and food workers... There's a lot. Have you ever seen anyone have a heart attack? Thank Christ no. Have you personalized your answering machine/voicemail? No. Have you ever had Fiji brand water? I actually don't believe I have, though it's always looked appealing to me, haha. What’s your favorite horror movie? The Crazies and the first Silent Hill, as well as both Blair Witch Projects. What was the worst thing a friend has either done or said to you? I'd rather not even think about things the bitch said to me. Are you biracial? No. When was the last time you got mad and broke something? I've never broken something when mad. What color dress did you wear to prom? My first was maroon, second one was black. Who is the cutest baby you know? My friend has a daughter named Scarlett who is absolutely gorgeous. Have you ever thrown a rock at a window? No, because I respect people's fucking property. Has anyone ever thrown a rock at your window? No. Does your hair react well to dye, or does it damage it? It likes to not take dye at all. >.> I have only had one instance where a friend dyed it red and it stuck for months and months, but we kept it in for a couple hours, I think. My normal hairdresser says it's because my hair is really healthy and I guess rejects it. What kind of pet do you wish you had? I ramble plenty about how I want tarantulas and more reptiles, haha. I also DESPERATELY want to rescue or foster an opossum. When was the last time you were diagnosed with something? Are you concerned about anything regarding your physical or mental health at the moment? I haven't been diagnosed with anything in quite some time, I believe, but as I'm going through the process of being approved for TMS therapy for my depression, my bipolar diagnosis is being questioned, which is... strange to me. It's been acknowledged by many a doctor that I have bipolar 2, but if insurance recognizes my primary diagnosis as bipolar, they won't cover TMS because it can massively excite the mania portion of bipolarity, and therefore I can't do it because we can't manually afford it. I'm willing to take the risk by far, as I've never had issues with mania, but I can't without insurance. I'm just waiting to hear back from them... What is one blanket judgment you tend to make about people (like, you judge all people who live at home, all people who drink, etc)? Does this judgment come from a particular personal experience? I really don't know. How do you react to other people yelling or slamming doors? Is this something you ever do too? I get very scared if it's a man. I don't like anyone doing it, and my anxiety will spike regardless, I'm just terrified of angry men. Have you ever lost your cool at work or somewhere else important? What happened as a result? No. Who has the power to break you? Jason still might. I don't know. Is anyone in your family blind? My sister is legally blind in one eye. Do you believe in evolution? Yeah. I do find the concept odd, that ALL LIFE originated from one thing, but I sure ain't got a better explanation, so. What job do you think people should be paid the most for? Surgeons, maybe? I dunno, that's a big question. Were you ever held back a year in school? Did you ever skip a grade? No. Have you ever been given a hickey? Have you given one? Yeah to both. What is your least favourite thing about your full name? I have the most basic white bitch middle name in the world, lol. Do you like the age you are? Eh, I don't mind it much, but I think it'd be better to be in my early 20s versus mid 20s. I'm just always so tired now. I can't believe I used to refuse to go to sleep before 10:30. What’s your favourite kind of poptart? The chocolate sundae one. If you had to eat one type (Chinese, etc.) of food which would it be? American bc I'm not very adventurous with food at all. When did your family immigrate to wherever you live now? *shrug* Are your fingers long, or short? Long. Mom's always said I have "piano fingers." Do you play Pokemon Go? If so, what level are you and who’s your buddy? Yeah, I love it, but don't play it nearly as much as I want because I don't exactly go anywhere, lol. My bud's Charmeleon, and I'm probably like five EXP from level 28. Do you ever sit indoors and wear sunglasses or a hat? I don't own either, so. Do you know how to read animals’ behavior? I honestly think I'm very good at it. Do you like playing video games? If so, what do you usually play? Yes, but not as much as I used to. All I really play nowadays is World of Warcraft. The only working console I have is a PS2, and I haven't bought a new game in probably a couple years, but there are definitely ones I want to play, mainly on PS4. Just can't afford it right now. Have you ever viewed the moon through a telescope? No. Do you know how to properly eat food with chopsticks? No. There's no way I could, given my tremors. Do you prefer reading books, comic books, manga/graphic novels, magazines, or the newspaper? Books. When is the last time you ate donuts? It's been months, man. I've seriously been craving a glazed one, though. Krispy Kreme sounds amaaaaaziiiiiing. Has anyone ever called you sexy? Somehow. Do you like raisins? NO NO NO NO NO. Have you ever overheard a conversation you weren’t supposed to? More than once. Do you like ants? They're genuinely extremely fascinating animals, but they're seriously annoying nevertheless. Did you like the movie Antz? I loved it as a kid. What was your favorite ice cream flavor when you were little? Chocolate. Is it still your favorite? Eh, depends on the day. By the way, what is your name? Brittany. What time zone do you live in? EST. Do you like cats? I love cats. What’s the most creepy experience you’ve ever had? One night when my mom and sister were at the beach for a dance competition, I was having trouble sleeping, and it only got worse when my dog Teddy started freaking the fuck out, barking loudly and staring intently at the foot of the bed. I was so scared that I tried to force his head to lie down, but he fought against me. I was terrified, but got up out of the bed and went into the living room to call my mom at like 3 in the damn morning, and she had to have our neighbor come over to sleep in the house with me (I was in a different room that night). You can't convince me that there wasn't paranormal shit going on. I think the house was haunted honestly, for multiple reasons. What’s the most boring game to exist? Why do you dislike it so much? Hm, I dunno. What’s the coolest place that you've ever been to? What’d you do there? Disney World was very memorable as a kid. We just went around collecting signatures, going on rides, all that fun stuff. I'll never forget fireworks at the castle. If you’re interested in having a long-term relationship with someone, do you think that waiting a certain amount of time before you first have sex is a good idea? Or does it not matter? I think it's a good idea, personally, mostly for the sake of reducing the spread of STDs. Just because you think you'll be long-term, doesn't mean you will be. Besides that, isn't there a science that sex and feelings of love are connected? Like, sex is impossible without at least some underlying emotions? I might be entirely wrong, in which case forgive me for spreading misinformation, but if that's so and things don't go as planned, you've gotten emotionally invested in someone too early and wind up getting hurt. You do you, I just don't think it's smart. Have you ever discovered something big by looking through someone’s phone, Facebook, email, etc.? No. Have you kept anything from your past relationships? (Things they left at your house, gifts, notes, etc) Do you think that’s a big deal for future relationships or not? Yeah, like plushies and little stuff like that. When it's tiny things like I just mentioned, I really don't think it matters. I think some things might be questionable to keep, but at the same time, I don't think it's really wrong to keep memories of a happy time, if the thing still brings you joy and has been emotionally disconnected from the ex? Idk. Do you have any financial regrets? Either way, what’s an example of a GOOD financial decision you’ve made? Going to and dropping out of college three fucking times. I don't know about a good financial decision seeing as I'm not even in charge of my own finances, nor really have any to begin with. Are you a believer in “signs” from the Universe about things in your life? If you are, can you think of a particular example? No. Name some things that one or both of your parents are really good at or really interested in. Mom LOVES medical stuff, like watching surgeries and stuff like that. She is also absolutely incredible with children. Dad likes sports a lot, hockey and football especially. Think of a good friend of the opposite sex (currently or in the past). Have you ever had any sort of “more than a friend” or sexual thoughts about them? If not, can you explain why? Well, we dated briefly, so... It was awkward to, but I let myself imagine sexual situations a few times to help myself understand if I really did like-like him, or if he was truly just a brother to me. Turns out, he's a bro. If someone told you that you would never achieve something and you ended up doing it, would you have any interest in finding that person and showing them? I'ma be honest, yes. I wouldn't actively seek them out, but rather just hope they somehow find out or I run into them or something. What is the most jealousy-induced thing you’ve ever done? Apparently, be the girl Juan liked instead of this girl that literally threatened to deck me. Guess what? We're friends now lmaoooo.

This is my belated GO Secret Santa gift for @hardly-functioning-morals! I’m sorry it’s late, but hope you like it!
Sorry about the odd formatting; I had to post this on mobile, and it came out a bit wonky. I expect I’ll cross post this to AO3 once I have a chance, and clean it up. My account there is bastet_in_april.

Magic Trick
by bastet_in_april (ditherwings), for hardly-functioning-morals
Aziraphale had always developed fascinations for peculiarly specific bits of human culture, and Crowley usually enjoyed indulging even the ones that he found a bit odd. What was the draw in Regency-period silver snuff boxes, for instance? It wasn’t as though Aziraphale had any particular use for them--he didn’t use snuff, and so had no reason to wish for a dainty container as a means to carry the stuff about in a pocket. Crowley saw little interest in collecting ancient leather-bound first editions with cracked spines and dusty pages, either. He didn’t read, he liked to insist, and, if that was a lie, then surely glossy coffee table books full of remarkable photos were more his style.
Still, Crowley loved to indulge Aziraphale’s fascinations. He enjoyed the excitement on his face as he examined a new find for his bookshop, turning the pages carefully with gloved hands. He loved the surprise on Aziraphale’s face when Crowley present him with a beautifully engraved little snuffbox, with mother-of-pearl inlay. He loved the way Aziraphale would expound on the delights of a new patisserie shop, and the way his eyes would roll up ever so slightly at the ecstasy of a perfectly prepared piece of nigirizushi.
Stage magic, though, was where Crowley drew the line.
It had happened while Crowley was asleep. In 1871, an up-and-coming stage magician named Alexander Herrmann parted ways with his brother Carl, in order to establish his reputation via a solo act. While Carl continued to tour Europe, Alexander headed for London.
In 1871, Aziraphale was still an angry, terrified recluse. It had been nine years since his fateful meeting with Crowley in St. James’s Park. He hadn’t seen Crowley since their argument, and he wasn’t sure whether he was more likely to dissolve into tears or shouting if he saw Crowley again, or, frighteningly, if he didn’t. So he stayed in his shop, fretfully conditioning old leather bindings and being increasingly curt with the few customers who dared cross the shop’s threshold. Perhaps the neighborhood noticed. Perhaps it was a concerned neighbor who thought that odd Mr. Fell really ought to get out of that dusty old shop more often who slipped the advertisement under the shop’s door. Perhaps it was simply a paperboy who’d been paid a bit extra to distribute the fliers. Perhaps it was chance. Perhaps it was ineffable.
Regardless, Aziraphale picked up the flier and was charmed and arrested by the image of the thin man with the goatee and curling mustache, dressed smartly in a black tailcoat and brandishing a magic wand. “Herrmann the Great!” it proclaimed. “Master of the Magical Arts! Now Performing at the Egyptian Hall!” The man was surrounded by whirling petals, playing cards, and doves in flight, and comically outlandish cartoon demons peered from the edges of the playbill to marvel at the magician.
Helpless, Aziraphale’s first thought was that this was exactly the sort of show Crowley would love--a perfect chance to see humanity’s remarkable capacity for imagination at work, while the demon snarked and snickered into his hand at the feats of “magic,” from where he sprawled into his seat. Aziraphale crushed that thought down into something small and sad, like a crumpled ball of paper, and tucked it neatly away. He took a deep breath. There was no reason not to attend the show on his own. He couldn’t hide in his shop forever, as the world continued to move around him. And perhaps Crowley would have the same thought, and Aziraphale might yet see him in the crowd at the Egyptian Hall, heckling the performer and downing expensive wine.
So it was that Aziraphale found himself in a packed theater, its ceiling bedecked with pseudo-Egyptian frescoes complete with strings of artistic renderings of hieroglyphic text (having resided in Egypt for a time during the Ramesside period, and categorically unable to resist reading anything with words on it, if it was within view, Aziraphale was rather bemused to find that the hieroglyphs on the column to the left of him read, “your mother keeps house with water buffalo, and your father smells of lotus root”). Aziraphale was disappointed not to spot a familiar shock of red hair, or a distinctively sauntering gait, amongst the theatergoers.
The crowd buzzed with excitement as Herrmann took the stage, looking theatrically dapper in a tailcoat and tophat, and slightly malevolent, with his goatee and curled moustache like a villain from a penny dreadful. He produced a deck of cards, seemingly from thin air, fanning them out in flourishes, conjuring them from audience members’ pockets, and then turning them into an explosion of colorful ribbons that streamed through the air. Aziraphale felt himself get drawn into the show, as pieces of set dressing--grand fruit trees, ruby-colored lamps, even a burbling fountain--appeared in puffs of incense-scented purple or green smoke. The crowd gasped in wonder or shock, as Herrmann unveiled each new wonder. He produced a dove from a woman’s evening glove, making her laugh with delight. To the surprise of the crowd a rabbit leaped from his tophat, after he tapped it twice with his wand. The onlookers erupted into delighted laughter, as the conjurer tried and failed to convince it to return to his hat, finally turning it into a monogrammed handkerchief, instead. Aziraphale marvelled quietly at the ingenuity of humans, to create miracles of their own. This was so different from the times he had witnessed angelic miracles being performed before crowds of humans. That had been a thing of terror, each witnessing mortal made small and helpless before the gaze of Michael or Gabriel. The magician, conjuring marvels and wielding powers the crowd did not comprehend, instead welcomed them into the experience with humor and charm, sharing the wonder of it with them, and delighting in their reactions.
Aziraphale thought again of Crowley, and bit his lip.
The magician waded a bit further into the crowd, pulling a shiny coin from behind a boy’s ear, and offering him the prize. He paused before Aziraphale, and doffed his silk top hat, offering it to Aziraphale, “You, good sir! Look into my hat! Can you confirm for the crowd that it is empty?” Aziraphale stood, peering into the hat, before agreeing for the rest of the audience that it was empty, and an ordinary hat, as far as he could perceive. “Thank you! Now I see by the lines of care and worry upon your brow that something troubles you, so I have the spirits to deliver a wonder to set your heart at ease. The imps and spectres have told me that what you fear shall not come to pass! Now, reach into this empty hat, and see the wonder the demon has delivered as a sign!”
Aziraphale reached into the silk hat, and felt his hand close around a smooth, round shape. He pulled forth a perfect, shining red apple.

Mrs. and Mr. Device were celebrating their anniversary by going on a short trip to the seaside, and needed a babysitter to look after six-year-old Magrat. Adam and the Them had each been given due consideration as potential sitters, but it was nearing end-of-term at school, and university applications and exams were making the teens look increasingly unglued. While Madame Tracey might be trusted with a small child, both parents agreed that Witchfinder Sergeant Shadwell (retired) was a last resort, only in case of impending apocalypse, option. So, after some deliberation, and after Anathema’s cousin had begged off due to plans involving concert tickets, the professional descendant (retired) and witch (current) rang up Crowley’s mobile.
Crowley always sounded hunted when he answered his mobile, as if he were a bit worried about whose voice might be on the other, but was pretending at nonchalance. “Yeah, who’s this?” he asked. “Anathema Device,” Anathema answered.
“Book Girl!” Crowley exclaimed, relaxing. He’d attended her wedding, and known her for years, but some nicknames stuck. She rolled her eyes.
“Are you and Aziraphale free on Thursday evening? Newt and I are going on a day trip, and need someone to look after Magrat while we’re away.”
“And you thought you’d ask a demon to babysit?”
“I thought I’d ask my friend. Don’t pretend you don’t adore babysitting her. She told me that you read her stories, last time, and did all the voices.”
“What can I say, she’s a little hellion. What’s not to love?” Crowley hummed thoughtfully. “Give me a moment.” There was a pause in which Anathema could hear Crowley having a murmured conversation with Aziraphale, before Crowley lifted the mobile again, voice coming through clear and audible. “Sure, we can take her for the day. You two kids go have some fun.”
Anathema breathed a soft exhalation of relief. Promise secured, she began to let Crowley know exactly what he was in for.
***
Magrat Device did not want a babysitter. She was very certain that she should be allowed to stay up late on her own, thank you very much. She knew how to work a microwave, and had her parents on speed dial, and wouldn’t eat ice cream for dinner (honest!).
Her parents disagreed, which was why Crowley and Aziraphale were currently poring over a takeout menu, on her parents’ couch, trying to determine what one might order in to feed a six year old.
Anathema and Newt had named their daughter Magrat because Anathema knew the value, to a growing child, of being able to read one’s name in a book. Newt was pleased that this book, at least, while full of witches, fools, kings, and mistaken identity, did not involve an apocalypse.
It wasn’t that Magrat didn’t like spending time with Crowley and Aziraphale. The last time they had babysat her, they had gone to the park and Aziraphale had showed her how to feed the ducks, and Crowley had gotten her an ice cream, and then they had gone home and read from her favorite book--the one that had her name in it. But, the thing was, that had been when Magrat was five. Now, Magrat was six, and that was different. Six was grown up. Six year olds didn’t need babysitters, because six year olds weren’t babies.
“What would you like to eat, dear girl?” Aziraphale asked. “Is a curry too spicy? Or would you like some of the smoked trout and quiche from that lovely little cafe down the street.”
Magrat scowled, shoulders hunched up near her ears. “I don’t want anything to eat.”
“You’re a growing child. Can’t you try to eat something?” The angel looked pleadingly at her. “It’s alright if you don’t finish it, but I shouldn’t like to think of you going hungry.”
Magrat shook her head stubbornly.
“Tell you what,” Crowley said. “How about we order a sampler of a few things, and if anything piques your interest, you can try some of it. If not? Well, we’ll just leave the leftovers for your parents--save them having to cook tomorrow.”
When the takeaway arrived, it smelled enticingly of saffron, spices, butter, and fresh bread. Magrat stubbornly turned away, even as her stomach growled.
“Right,” Crowley decided, clapping his hands and straightening up out of his artful sprawl. “I know you don’t want to be babysat. Why would you? You aren’t a baby, and babysitting just sounds a bit demeaning. Or painful. The thing is, though, we aren’t just your babysitters, Magrat.” He tilted his head down to meet her hazel-colored eyes. She could just catch a glimpse of his bright yellow ones beneath the dark lenses of the sunglasses. “You’re a witch, so we’re your magic babysitters. Like when Hagrid took Harry Potter to Diagon Alley for school supplies.”
Magrat came slowly out of her slouch, considering this. “You’re not magic, though,” she argued. “Not like wizards, or witches, anyway. You’re an angel and a demon. You don’t have magic wands, or pointy hats, or cauldrons. You don’t pull rabbits out of hats. You might as well just be boring old regular babysitters, like Wensleydale or Auntie Sue.”
Aziraphale perked up, looking triumphant. “Oh, you think so, do you?” he asked. “Find me a hat, my dear, and we shall see!”
Crowley groaned. “Oh, angel, please not that. If she wants a rabbit, just miracle one up! Don’t you remember what happened last time? This is going to end in cream cake stains and tears--mostly mine--you mark my words.”
Aziraphale smiled serenely. “Nonsense, my dear. Now, Magrat, a hat, please?”
Magrat pulled a baseball cap from where it had been tossed onto the end of one of the umbrellas in the stand by the door. “It’s not the right kind,” she said.
“Oh, any hat will do. Now, I want you to check that it’s empty.” Magrat reached into the hat, feeling only the canvas material it was made from. “It’s empty,” she confirmed, interested in spite of herself.
“Right, now I need a magic wand.” Aziraphale looked around himself, as if expecting one might conveniently appear. It didn’t, so Azirphale snatched up a fork from the bag of takeaway on the table. He puffed out his chest, and cleared his throat theatrically. “Abracadabra expecto patronum bibbity bobbity expelliarmus!” The angel tapped the slightly rumpled baseball cap three times with his magic fork, and then picked it up and put it on his head. He wiggled his fingers, his eyes theatrically wide.
Magrat leaned forward, despite herself. Crowley covered his face with his hand.
With a dramatic, “Ta da!” Aziraphale whipped the cap off of his head and presented it to his audience. “One rabbit, as ordered!”
There was a pause. Aziraphale looked into the still-empty hat with bewilderment. Magrat and Crowley, however, were unable to tear their eyes away from the furry, bewhiskered little bunny rabbit that was perched comfortably amidst Aziraphale’s fluffy curls. His little pink nose twitched.
Slowly, Aziraphale’s eyes turned upwards towards his hairline, and he yelped, and made a grab for the rabbit, which leapt off of his head acrobatically and right onto the table, upturning the dish of eclairs, sending them flying through the air.
“What did I tell you?” Crowley asked, snapping his fingers. The eclairs settled back onto the plate on the table. And the rabbit was rather confused, but ultimately pleased, to suddenly find itself in the middle of a heavily guarded and carefully fortified garden of prize-winning vegetables (inciting wrath and suspicion of sabotage in the gardener, when he discovered the ensuing damage).
“Mmphghhahaha,” a peculiar half-strangled noise escaped Magrat’s mouth, like the first bit of water springing through the crack in a dam, presaging the deluge. She laughed until she had tears running down her face. Aziraphale, his face softening from bewildered shock to delight and fondness, laughed with her. Crowley, despite himself, let go of his second-hand embarrassment to join them.
The real magic trick, Aziraphale would explain to Crowley after the angel, the demon, and Magrat had finished their dinner, and demolished a respectable number of chocolate eclairs, was not pulling the rabbit from the hat. The real magic was surprise, wonder, and laughter.

“Look everyone, can you see the birds on the trees?” You announce as the children walk hand-in-hand in pairs, their heads tilting up to collectively wow at the sight of the birds sat staring down at them, “Let’s try tweeting at them, shall we?” And the class erupts into bird chirps and tweets, receiving blank stares from the animals.
It was adorable nonetheless.
With you at the front, a few volunteering parents with their children in the middle, it made Wonwoo walk at the back with the younger kids and carrying the most equipment (And some of the children if his arms aren’t too tired).
While half of the class were busy staring at the birds and talking about making stick forts later, Wonwoo’s half were quite scared that they were in the outside.
“Yejin, did you see the squirrel over there?” He points to the animal running as the little girl in his arms coos, plastering her hands over her mouth. Wonwoo acts shocked too, nodding along with the little girl, before looking at the boy he’s holding hands with. “What about you Jibeom? Can you see it too?”
The child only responds by pulling himself closer to Wonwoo, holding onto his pant leg and hiding himself.
“No need to be scared Jibeom, Wonwoo’s here.” Wonwoo replies, patting his hair. He looks at Yejin, then down at Jibeom, “Should we sing something to make Jibeom less scared?”
Yejin loudly cheers in contrast to Jibeom shyly nodding his head once, and Wonwoo quickly lets go of the boy’s hand — adding on ‘Hold onto this okay?’ while pointing at the hem of his shirt — to fish for his phone and goes on his playlist, handing the phone to the little girl as he holds Jibeom’s hand again.
“Pick a song you want to listen to Yejin,” Says Wonwoo, hoping the song she’ll choose wouldn’t include anything inappropriate (Because if it was he’d get in trouble by you).
After pouty faces, darting eyes and a lot of hair flying into Wonwoo’s face, Yejin finally picks a song and giggles. Fixing his bucket hat, Wonwoo puts her down — Because his arms feel like falling off — and asks for the phone back, placing it safely in his shirt pocket as the song starts to play.
Suddenly, as if perfectly timed, Yejin starts to yell out the lyrics to Love Scenario, blabbing half of the words since they were too fast for her.
Wonwoo laughs at her cuteness, and begins singing along with her, turning his head to Jibeom and saying, “We can sing together Jibeom.” Soon bobbing his head to the beat as he and the child begin singing the song.
The song wasn’t too loud on Wonwoo’s phone, but the girl’s singing caught the attention of the people in front of them, and they begin singing along.
And surely by the second chorus, the whole class began to sing it. It surprised you that they suddenly started singing, but you found your answer within a second when you see Wonwoo at the back now singing loudly with the children.
You joined in by the chanting towards the end, and caught a glimpse of Wonwoo doing the choreography as the children either tried to copy him or dance in their own world, and by the time the song ended, everyone (Including you) were begging to play it again.
“Mister Wonyu is the best!”
“Wonyu is so cool.”
“I wanna dance like Wonyu!”
“One day Mister Wonyu can teach me to dance!”
“I’m marrying Wonyu one day!”
The comments from the children made you smile hard. You agreed with all of them.
When the children finally had time to play on the nearest playground, it meant that Wonwoo finally had time to relax.
“A chocolate milk for the hard working Jeon Wonwoo,” You say, handing the small carton, “you look absolutely exhausted.”
“I guess, but the kids make it a million times better.” He answers. “But my phone is going to die soon since Minguk used it to play Super Mario Run, and the kids joined in… I’m never letting them play on my games again.”
You punch him softly on the arm, chuckling. “You idiot, you know how they are with ‘the magical world of technology’.” You quote. “Do you wanna borrow my power bank?”
“You angel-“
“Ah, no need to thank me. Also, you should enjoy the sun! Gimme that.” You take off the hat and watch his fluffy hair fall, placing the item on your head instead.
“Hey!”
“I’m joking! But I’ll keep it,” You stuff it into your coat pocket, pointing a finger to the male, “Your skin needs to say hello to the sun once in a while.”
The two of you laugh and talk on for a while, mainly about the upcoming activities in the day, until the mood shifts when a child calls your name, wanting you to push the swing for them. “That’s my cue.” Standing up, you halt in your steps as you search your pockets, turning to Wonwoo. “Oh and,” A small packet of mini oreos are thrown towards him, “that’s on me.”
You smile and leave, jogging to the children.
“Cute.” Wonwoo watches, moving his eyes from you to the packet of oreos, unable to control his smile.
And hour later was the hottest part of the day, so you did your best to watch over the children and do a headcount every fifteen minutes to make sure they aren’t lost in the field — Their task was to either find flowers or do a drawing to present to the class the day after.
The area wasn’t that wide either, but you needed the children to be fully supervised — Luckily, that’s where the volunteer parents come in, so you felt more at peace.
Wonwoo, on the other hand, was with Minguk and other children, all huddled up in one space and pointing at the flowers they’re looking at. Smiling at the sight, someone calls you and jog quickly to their call, arriving to Jina jumping to get an apple.
“Do you want me to get that apple Jina?”
“Please. I wanna draw it!”
You grin, “Well, since you’ve asked so well…” Carefully moving her aside, you look up at the bright red apple and extend your arm to reach it. No use — It didn’t work.
Getting on your tip toes, you try again, but that fails too and your toes get a slight cramp, so it was best you wouldn’t risk it. Even jumping, that apple was too damn high. You’d curse, but with the presence of a child, you kept your mouth shut and reach for the fruit the best you could.
Unexpectedly, something pulls you down in a swift movement and secures a grip around you midway into your jump. Your heart felt like jumping out of your chest and the gesture.
“Be careful Y/N,” The voice calmly says, holding you a bit closer, “I’ll get it, alright?”
You didn’t need to look back to know it was Wonwoo, so you leaned some of your weight on him as he reaches for the apple with ease, the other arm sill wrapped around you.
When Wonwoo gets the apple, the two of you make eye contact for a split second before Wonwoo adjusts his head a little and stretches his arm to Jina, presenting the apple. “Here you go Jina.”
Jina had her jaw wide open. She runs up to the pair of you — Who are still in the same position — as she snatches the apple and runs away, covering her face. Looking at Wonwoo, his face is a mixture of bother and perplexity.
“I… Didn’t do anything, right Y/N?” Wonwoo carefully says, not waiting for your reply before he realises the situation and removes the arm around you, taking five steps away from you and coughing to keep his cool. “Ah, forget I said anything. I’ll be with the kids making the stick houses!” Wonwoo runs off.
The most memorable thing about the field trip was when you were helping the class to pick the best flowers to keep in the scrapbook in class. So many children were in groups and pairs, collecting any flowers that stood out to them.
“Miss Y/N, Miss Y/N!” The child’s voice addresses you, and you see that it’s Minguk that’s calling you over — He’s getting louder these days, maybe all because of Wonwoo breaking his shell.
“Yes Minguk?” Crouching, you get to eye level with the little one and see the flower he’s gripped on tight with his hand, shoving it in front of you.
“For you!” Minguk grins toothily, bowing as if he’s confessing to you. You’re flustered by the action, and take the flower, trying tour best not to die from cuteness nor make your face go red.
Calming yourself, you reply with a kind smile, “How mature of you Minguk, you’re going to be a fine man.” You thank him, patting his head and then looking at the flower, then at Minguk. “But,” Reaching over, your fingers tucking the flower behind his ear, “that’s better.”
Minguk bursts in giggles and babbles a thank you, covering his face with his hands too. He picks up one more flower — A very pretty one — and then runs off without saying his goodbye. It got you a bit sad, but at least he was having a great time, all the children were.
“Uncle ‘Woo!” Minguk calls out again when he’s closer to his uncle. He has a little jump before stopping and watches him befriend the kitty in the bushes while his other hand is holding flowers that he’s collected.
Wonwoo turns, now paying full attention to his nephew. “Oh hello Minguk, are you okay?” In which Minguk bobs his head up and down with his eyes closed. His hand holds out the flower he just picked and it surprises Wonwoo. “Do you want me to look after that?”
Again, Minguk nods and Wonwoo opens his palm to receive the flower, but before he could ask further, Minguk skips off and Wonwoo is left speechless.
Not knowing what to do with the flower, he chooses to relax a bit until a child runs up to him. And so, he watches the bright sun glow over the field and the children enjoying themselves.
He catches you, and how you’re placing the flowers you’ve found into the children’s hair, creating a pretty accessory for them. He especially loved your reaction to the children chuckling when they have a flower in their hair, running to their friends to discuss how nice each other look.
After some deep thought, Wonwoo gets up and makes his way to the grassy field, noticing how much brighter it is with the sunlight exposed. Making his way to you, you notice him sitting with you as he takes out a lollipop from his pocket.
“It’s on me.” He says, not looking at you since you were busy watching the kids
“Gosh, why do you always have to return the favour.” You heave, taking the lollipop gladly. “Where’d you get this from anyway?”
Wonwoo shrugs. “A parent gave me it. It was really sweet of her.”
“Oh I see. Today has been great.”
“Agreed.”
“Promise we’ll do this again someday.”
“‘We’?”
“Class field trip! Everyone really enjoys it, it was a great idea.”
“Oh! Oh…”
“What? Is anything wrong?”
“No, not really. The sun’s just making me speak nonsense.”
“Which is why you,” You poke his arm, “should go outside more.”
“I do! I’m the one that has to go shopping.”
“Whatever smarty-pants.”
“You know what would make this day better?”
“Hm…” You pause and think to yourself, thinking really hard since it’s Wonwoo. “I dunno. What would make it better?”
“Look at me,”
Rotating your head towards him, you stare at Wonwoo before your eyes follow his hand reaching behind your ear, placing the pretty flower that Minguk picked, taking his time to adjust the positioning.
His fingertips felt gentle, caring towards you. When he removes them, he gazes at you with the sun glowing in his eyes and a smile slowly forms on his face, almost lovesick. His eyes refuse to leave you and your heart was pumping through your ears again, the butterflies twisting and turning in your stomach.
“You. You made my day.”

Charactober 2020 - Day 13 - An OC who died. Zaira from Chronicles of Khalid: Tears of Lunpah. She died protecting her team and she defeated the army of mechanical men using the power of the goddess Lunpah.
Charactober 2020 - Day 14 - Your OC as a Hogwarts student! Alan Leroy from Undercover. When he was a child, he dreamt to be like a "David Copperfield". He admires a teenage girl illusionist called "Her Majesty". The girl and her family were magicians and escapists. Alan considered himself his fan number one, and he collected in his childhood all kind of "magician material". But, unfortunately, his dream never come true. Instead, he become a swindler who can disguise in anyone who needs for commit a robbery. He is a trickster, a scammer and he could sell his own mother to achieve his goals.
Charactober 2020 - Day 15 - Your OC using magical powers or superpowers! Chad Deyson is an fbi agent from Undercover. He lost his girlfriend Jane in a gunfire and he left the police after this for 2 years. All of us, at some point in our lives, we thought "if only I could turn back time". Then, I imagined Chad using time travel powers to bring his girlfriend back from the dead. I'm sure that this new version of his story will have a bad ending. Obssessed with his past, he'll lose the opportunity to heal his heart correctly and learn to love again, finding a new partner in Lena Sammet.
Charactober 2020 - Day 16 - You OC as a Pokémon Trainer. Alainasharyath... or just Alain, is a Natterei (aquatic hybrid) from Chronicles of Khâlid: Days of the Future. Of course, he'll be surrounded by Pokémons of water type. He trains a Horsea, Luvdisc, Goldeen, Finneon, Frillish and Magikarp (of course!) Enjoy!
Charactober 2020 - Day 17 - Some Fanservice! Draw your OC looking sexy. A poor kid was sold by his own parents and was forced to work in a brothel named "Blue Palace". Years later, the owner transform him into "Diamond de Veneraux", the star of the brothel's show. After years of suffering, Diamond took the life of his step-father and ran away from the city he grows. He started to call himself "Cyan", dyed his hair in blue color and became a Bard-Harper. Enjoy! I took the reference from the awesome Pole Dancer called Dimitry Fedotov! Thank you!
Charactober 2020 - Day 18 - Your cutest OC Tillian Clover from Chronicles of Khâlid: Wartime. I don't know if he's the cutest OC I have, but definetly he's so cute to draw. Till is an adorable gnome thief who loves alcohol and tavern fights. He's naughty, mischievous and more tough than the people thinks he is. He's always playing the good boy when he steals something and hide all the stolen goods in his magic hat. How could people think he's a thief with this cute face? xD
Charactober 2020 - Day 19 - Your non-fantasy character as a fantasy character. They are the 4 Aces, a group of tricksters formed by Aideen, Alice, Alan & Axel from Undercover. Aideen works in a hotline, so she would be a Sune Priestess in this world! Alice is an illusionist and an escapist, so she's the Wizard. Alan is charismatic and has a talent to disguise, so the rogue and the bard suits him very well. Finally, Axel is the hacker and he would be a perfect Artificer.
Charactober 2020 - Day 20 - Your fantasy character as a non-fantasy character. Fin the Warrior, Sak the Paladin, Matt the Mime and Zhavon the Sorcerer are characters from my old DnD campaigns. I tried to imagine them in the real world, taking the undergound. Finn is now the bodyguard of his girlfriend, the popular singer Gwen the Bard. Sak the Great, dedicates his life to fight the crime on the streets like a Policeman. Matt the Mime-Assassin recovered his noble past and became a succesful businessman. Zhavon still hates the world, the govern and the capitalism. He's now a Punk Anarchist and loves the things that are set on fire (His familiar, Ayame the Snake, is now a symbol in his jacket. This also is a sign of his past with Yuan-ti's clan). By the way, Zhavon was the character of Charactober Day 3 too!

Some Sun and Moon headcanons
Okay, mostly Guzma and Plumeria, but I’m gonna try and cover as many characters as possible. And of course, be advised for NSFW ones.
Professor Kukui is actually a distant cousin of Archie’s. They don’t talk often but when they do, Kukui is confused and disappointed that his cousin started an evil organization hellbent on expanding the ocean, but finds amusement that he’s dating the leader of his rival team, Maxie of Team Magma. But no, really, he’s glad his cousin has sought reform and found a partner he’s happy with. Kukui will still joke with Archie asking when the wedding is.
The closest thing Lillie had to a first Pokémon other than Nebby was a Ducklett named Odette. She let it go to be happy when it became a Swanna. She dearly misses Odette, though, and hopes maybe she’ll see it again.
Hau started watching El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera after finding out that Frida, like him, enjoys delicious sweet fried dough treats (churros for Frida, malasadas for Hau). Now he likes the show for the family dynamics and got Kukui to watch it as well. The two often joke who would win in a match: Kukui as the Masked Royal, White Pantera, El Tigre, or any other character adept at fighting.
Mallow would love to go on Master Chef or Hell’s Kitchen, but she’s a bit terrified of Gordon Ramsay in addition to absolutely admiring him.
Mina is a low-key hippie/stoner. That explains why she looks stoned the majority of the game. Although she’ll only tell her friends about essential oils and other medicinal herbs, especially hemp products that don’t come packaged with the bad psychoactive effects.
Sophocles and Molayne would be great at Cinema Sins. And Gaming Sins.
Gladion is a huge fan of Shadow the Hedgehog and you cannot tell me otherwise. Plumeria and Guzma are jokingly regretting the day they got him that plushie.
When the day comes that Kukui and Burnette announce they’re going to have a baby, Guzma will be the first and probably only one whose mind will go in the gutter, screaming “They had sex!” in his brain so loudly he has to look around to make sure no one can actually hear what’s going down in his mind.
When Guzma dissolved Team Skull, he watched people leave from the balcony of the Shady House. Once he was alone he snapped off his necklace and threw it away, just like how Ralph did in Wreck-It Ralph.
Type: Null (and Silvally to a certain extent) really doesn’t behave like a typical animal but it does have more canine mannerisms than anything. It also loves playing fetch.
Plumeria really does not like to talk about her family at all, having rejected them and making Team Skull her real family. Cliffnotes version is her mom was a raging alcoholic, her dad was a habitual cheater and pathological liar, and her two older sisters had mixed results. Her oldest sister, Chrysanthemum, did go on to become a successful fashion designer and own her own shop, and the other sister, Dahlia, pretty much ended up as high-school dropout, teen mom, freeloading trash with a rap sheet and won’t take any responsibility for her actions. But wait, if Chrysanthemum was the good girl, why doesn’t Plums just stay with her? Well, no matter what, Plumeria was always thrown to the wayside and she decided to look out for herself and eventually ran away from home to find some friends she could call family and treat just like a loving family. That, and Chrysanthemum scoffs at how horrible her family is and turned her nose up at Plumeria after finding out she got involved with Team Skull.
Lusamine has tried sexual advances on Guzma at one point. He wasn’t comfortable at all and post-Ultra Space he doesn’t want anything to do with her. No one knows exactly what happened but Guzma has confirmed she tried to get in his pants.
Lillie is actually a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and relates to Fluttershy the most. Hell, Gladion got her a big plushie for her birthday to make up for not taking her with him away from the Aether Foundation.
Mohn doesn’t reminisce about Lusamine and the kids because it could be likely he suffers from some degree of retrograde amnesia after his studies on the Ultra Wormholes.
Ever wonder what’s going on when no one dares go in the arcade on Royal Avenue or in the Hau’oli Shopping Mall? All of Team Skull is spending their coins on the DDR machine. DDR just seems to be a thing they do a lot and something you gotta be good at if you wanna join.
Also, everyone in Team Skull has their nails painted. Everyone. Female grunts have the pinkies painted hot pink, the other fingers with black, and the Skull X on the thumb, male grunts have the thumbs painted electric blue, the other fingers black, and the Skull X on the pinkie, Gladion has his painted all black but with a red edge like Shadow’s color pattern, Plumeria has her index, middle, and ring fingers painted black, her thumbs fuchsia, and her pinkies yellow, and Guzma’s all black or a special color of polish that accurately represents Dark Eco.
Plumeria will not let Guzma go out with certain Grunts while bored, drunk, or impulsive. The last time it happened he came home with his belly button pierced (he kept it, by the way).
Acerola is a HUGE fan of Homestuck, and Rose and Nepeta are her favorite characters.
Guzma has been found to give Nanu volumes of Garfield comic collections for his birthday. Nanu has also said they’re some of the best gifts he’s ever gotten and he’ll read them with his squad of Meowth and Persian.
Gladion will deliberately show Kill la Kill to Lusamine during one of their video chats while she’s undergoing treatment. Either it’ll cause some self-reflection or she’ll blow it off.
Hau has been known to sing “Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride” while on walks with his Raichu. The result is adorable.
Ilima doesn’t care if people refer to him as a boy or a girl, he even likes to watch people try to figure it out. But he utterly HATES people turning everything into a matter of identity politics.
Wicke’s cup size is a DD at MOST. She really doesn’t get why she’s told not to look up art of herself and even more confused when she DOES look up art of herself.
Calling Plumeria flat-chested will get your ass kicked. She’s between a B and a C cup, and to Guzma that’s fun enough to play with.
Wicke is the aunt of Velma from Scooby Doo. She wants to visit her niece as much as possible and learn about her adventures but working for the Aether Foundation shoots that plan hard in the foot. They keep in touch by mail, though, and Velma has at least one wall of her room she plasters with postcards from Alola.
Faba is low-key gay for Colress, but he’s perfectly content with just hanging out with him or “partaking in gentlemanly endeavors”, as he calls it. He’s too posh for the term “hanging out”.
Yes, Team Skull is considered a family, but Guzma isn’t exactly a Father to His Men. He tries, though, but since he came from a sh1t family it comes across more as the older brother but mostly boss role.
Hala won’t admit he adores the “You’re welcome!” song from Moana. Not even after he’s been caught singing it in public or by himself.
Olivia has heard these jokes about rocks before and she hates them, so stop it: “That’s a leaverite, you leave ‘er right there!” “Oh, that’s an Indian sex rock. You know, another fucking rock.”
Guzma hates wearing jeans or other pants that have a fly on them because the edge of the fly digs into his belly button.
Not an excuse for her behavior, but Lusamine’s obsession with beauty stems from her own mother’s obsession with glamour and beauty. She wanted Lusamine to be as pretty as she could possibly be, and Lusamine is the one who took it too far, where enough screws came loose and she concluded that the only thing capable of achieving God Tier levels of beauty were the Ultra Beasts. Cue insanity after research on the Beasts became her undoing.
On that note, Lusamine is the daughter of Queen Barbee from Panty and Stocking. She took hairstyle tips and fashion advice from Stocking and Weiss Schnee, respectively, growing up, went to college with Gol and Maia Archeon and their insanity rubbed off on her, and took parenting advice from Medusa Gorgon and Ragyo Kiryuin.
Lana was endearingly nicknamed “Ponyo” as a baby. Only her family knows about it, though.
Kiawe has seen quite a number of burns throughout his life. By now he’s practically indifferent to any new ones he sustains and has even kept a record of how many he’s gotten. Currently he has dealt with 209.
Nanu once took an Espurr under his care and Acerola fell in love with it so much he eventually entrusted it to her.
Hala isn’t just Hau’s grandpa, he’s considered to be everyone’s grandpa, because wouldn’t it be cool to have a grandpa who specializes in Fighting Types, is an island kahuna, AND will mentor and help you become one of the best trainers ever? And still give it to you straight what you need to fix?
Plumeria has some of the most miserable periods ever, even on birth control. We’re talking an emotional trainwreck where she’ll either ragequit or cry at the drop of a hat and some of the worst cramps imaginable. When that happens, stay away and let either the Grunts or Guzma take care of it. The Grunts will usually try to make her some herbal tea or even cheer her up with some artwork and a pillow and blanket nest she can curl up in. Guzma makes sure to get back as quickly as he can with dark chocolate, the biggest toy panda he can find, and DVDs of South Park and Panty and Stocking.
It actually takes a lot to get Guzma to cry, but thinking about how Lusamine threw him away in Ultra Space and the fact he’ll never live up to his father’s expectations are the fastest shortcuts.
Wicke has tried to get Lusamine some help in regards to how she treats her children, but it usually got brushed off or denied. To say Wicke was tired of seeing Lillie and Gladion be treated like dolls, toys that could be easily disposed of when interest was gone, is the biggest understatement of the century.
Team Skull used to have rollerskates/rollerblades as part of the uniform. The lack of decent stretches of level ground where they could actually be useful resulted in the retirement of them, but they’ll still rollerblade near Po Town.
Lillie plays piano, and her favorite song to play is Chocolat. She had no idea it was from the Panty and Stocking soundtrack until Gladion pointed it out and then he had to explain the series.
Someday the news will cover what happened with Lusamine, which will bite the Aether Foundation pretty hard in the ass.
Mina has made so much art that Hapu has had to let her rent out a shed on her property to store it all.
Kukui would love to see the moves Precipice Blades, Origin Pulse, and Dragon Ascent in action. Even more so in Primal status. Although Burnette jokes that he wouldn’t be able to survive the intense nerdgasm that would ensue.
Hau doesn’t just have an appetite for malasadas, he also likes orange poached squash. Hell, he could eat a whole pan of it at once if you let him.
Mallow preaches that you don’t put pineapple on pizza. Olivia and Kiawe disagree.
One time Plumeria made better-than-sex cake for dessert, and Guzma half-jokingly and half-seriously said “Challenge accepted” to the namesake.
After becoming champion and their final battle, the player character will INSIST Guzma to stay at their place or Hala’s so he can get back on the road to becoming a great trainer and keep him out of his parent’s house and the toxic environment that created his anger issues. They care about this dork.
Hapu’s Mudsdale is named Big Macintosh and is capable of saying only one human word: “Eeyup.”
Although Nanu is a cat person, he really dislikes people shaming Absol for its tendencies and its infamy. He’ll take one under his wing in a heartbeat if he finds one.
As a little kid, Acerola was TERRIFIED of the movie Coraline. Now it’s one of her absolute favorites and what may have helped her gravitate toward Ghost types.
Plumeria’s Salazzle is kind of a brat. She’ll bite at your ankles if she doesn’t know you or if she doesn’t get what she wants, Grunts have complained of stomach problems caused by drinking from cups they left unattended as she left poison spit in the ones she drank out of, she has burned Guzma at least once when she tried to jump in the bath with him, and on occasions has given her own trainer poisonings, scratches, and burns when Plumeria tried to get her off the bed. But if anything threatens a member of Team Skull, it’ll probably be the last thing they do. She’ll also try to seduce you into giving her your food.
Guzma’s first Pokémon was his Golisopod. He caught it as a Wimpod when he was a kid. Every day he’d go out to the nest to try and lure the bug out with some berries and try to catch it, but usually with no success. One day he went back out there to get his mind off a recent whooping he got but all the times he failed to catch the Wimpod just kind of caved in on him and he sunk down by the hole in the rocks crying. The Wimpod came out, nudged his hand, and crawled in his lap to try and console him. As Guzma left to go home it followed him and since then they’ve been inseparable.
Burnette has partaken in the pet-shaming fad on the internet with Kukui’s Rockruff once. The cheeky little puppy had a sign propped against him that read: “I buried my human’s Z-Ring on the beach at low tide and he couldn’t get it until the tide went out again.”
Cynthia and Grimsley often get into arguments with Steven and Wallace over who’s the better Elite Four/Champion couple.
Red and Blue aren’t dating in the Alola games. It’s more of a “take your frenemy on vacation” outing.
When Lillie and Gladion were younger, they asked Wicke if she could be their new mama. By the end of the day Wicke’s chest was hurting from crying so hard.
Burnette’s team consists of Pokémon she brought from Unova; a Musharna, a Gothorita, and a Beeheem. The outlier is a Comfey she acquired when she and Kukui got married.
Sophocles’ Togedemaru thinks he was destined to be an alarm clock. Every morning at 5 he jumps up on Sophocles’ pillow and starts chittering loudly, quickly hopping as he does to emulate a vibrating cell phone.
Guzma’s Golisopod is highly protective of his trainer to the point he will attack anyone who tries to hurt him. This overprotectiveness stems from when it was a Wimpod and it couldn’t do anything about Guzma getting beat by his father with golf clubs. It really wanted to do something to protect his trainer and once it evolved it finally could, although it seems like a vast overcompensation. The two people that Golisopod will be very dangerous to approach when in the vicinity are Guzma’s father (if that bastard tries to lay a hand on that boy again this bug will fuck his sh1t up) and Lusamine (he didn’t even trust her to begin with and he was right all along).
Type: Null (and Silvally) loves having its belly rubbed. It even curls up next to Gladion while he sleeps.
Ryuki (the Dragon user who appears as a challenger for the Champion Title) used to be the Trial Captain at Poni’s Abandoned Trial Site. He quit the position to pursue his rock star career and by the time he returned he was no longer eligible to retake that position. Thus, the Trial Site remains without a Captain.
Guzma really doesn’t like Kahili or her guts. He always lost to her when they were kids because her Bird Pokémon held advantage over his bugs, and after his last battle with her she said he could train until he dropped dead from exhaustion but he would never be good enough and that he was absolutely pathetic. Kahili really didn’t care how talented Guzma was, if he never placed first in any competition he entered, he wasn’t worthy in her eyes. Not even the Dawn Stone he won for his first ever victory was warranted. To Guzma, Kahili was just like his father and that’s why he refuses to have anything to do with her.
Mohn is actually pretty damn strong physically and used to be in really good shape. After getting married, having kids, and the stress from his studies on the Ultra Wormholes, however, the pounds started packing on. Eating all those Poke Beans doesn’t really help.
Lillie made a lemon cake for Lusamine to commemorate her 4th consecutive week on the mend and showing good progress in recovery. Lusamine loved it and broke down into tears after Lillie revealed that Burnette taught her how to bake, going on to profusely apologize and vent her regret for not teaching Lillie or Gladion anything about baking or something they may have been interested in.
Tapu Cocoa has a similar history as that of hot chocolate’s evolution in Mexico, but what helped shape Tapu Cocoa is the fact it was a drink created in honor of the Tapus. Koko, Lele, Bulu, and Fini were so pleased with the respective concoction prepared for them as tribute by the mortals, that each kind of Tapu Cocoa was adjusted and perfected for consumption by all. On Melemele, the drink is prepared with a splash of coconut; Akala, often served with a strawberry tea cake or with crushed raspberry; Ula’ula, prepared with chile peppers; and on Poni, prepared with orange peel or served with a macadamia nut cookie.
The only way that Kukui can get away with the assumption that the Masked Royal is someone entirely different is that he can pull of the character well enough that the illusion stands. Unfortunately the player character can see right through it (he shouldn’t have spoke with his usual speaking pattern when the player got to Royal Avenue).
Headcanon voices of the Tapus: Koko’s voice sounds similar to the Guardian of the Cave of Souls’ from The Book of Life, portrayed by Eric Bauza; Lele’s voice would sound similar to a very serious Pinkie Pie from Friendship is Magic, portrayed by Andrea Libman; Bulu’s voice would be similar to that of the Cave of Wonders, portrayed by Frank Welker; Fini’s voice would be reminiscent of Rarity’s from Friendship is Magic, portrayed by Tabitha St. Germaine.
Guzma’s Golisopod and Plumeria’s Salazzle have an interesting take on the friendly rivalry relationship. They’ll fight each other and give each other sh1t, but they’ve got each other’s backs. Mess with one, you mess with both. And if left to their own devices they can restrain each other if needed (although Salazzle is the one doing the most restraining).
Golisopod, Salazzle, Rockruff, Silvally, and to a certain extent, RotomDex, are on the cock block squad; Golisopos and Salazzle to Guzma and Plumeria, Rockruff to Kukui and Burnette, Silvally to Gladion, and RotomDex to the player.
Kahili comes across as pushy and having no time for anyone’s antics, but in reality she pushes herself to perfection way too hard and blows off people who try to help her. She’s so focused on trying to be the best in the golfing world that when she eventually cracks under the pressure she’ll have no idea how to get back on track or reach out for help.
The tattoos that the Team Skull higher-ups wear are actually made from a cosmetic paint that’s highly durable and can last for a whole year. Hence why they easily disappeared post-game, Guzma and Plumeria scrubbed them off (and it took 2 and a half hours straight to scrub them off).
Faba can admittedly be very cocky about his position, which he may have been able to get away with while Lusamine was running the Aether Foundation, but Gladion can easily one-up him and put him in his place.
The whole squatting thing among Team Skull actually started with Guzma. The guy suffers from quite a bit of back pain, which stems from all the times he was beaten by his father. His hunched over posture, not only a sign of someone who’s been browbeaten to the point their self esteem has sunk to the lowest doldrums, is the result of poorly set broken bones that have since healed over (Plumeria and especially Hala hound him on getting into a therapist to get that fixed as soon as possible) and when he does stand up straight his back cracks very loudly. While hunching over helps the pain a bit, in the long run it makes it worse; the pain also seems to worsen while sleeping in a weird position, slouching while sitting, or during sex on some occasions. The only thing that really seems to help his back outside of Plumeria cracking his spine back in place while lying face down is squatting down when he needs a break from standing. Some Grunts asked why he squatted down when he needed to rest and he just responded “It helps my back and I just think it’s cool.” Cue the Grunts joining him and soon it was a thing all across the team.
The Seafolk Village in Poni Island takes a lot of cues from Adabat from Sonic Unleashed as the two locations are in close proximity (at least a 5 hour boat trip). Probably explains why the night theme sounds like it was inspired by the Jungle Joyride night stages.
The old lady in the trailer that Plumeria and some other Team Skull members live in post-game is actually a very grandmotherly family friend of one of the Grunts. She’s helping them get back into good standing.
Mimikyu could disguise itself as any Pokémon it pleases if it wanted, but it sticks with imitating Pikachu because of it being the mascot and because it wants to nab a share of all that glory and attention.
After battling Lana, the reason why she doesn’t pop up again until after the player is crowned Champion is because she took the boat near her house to go look for Kyogre. She didn’t find it, but she made friends with a lot of Water Pokémon out there.
Despite Plumeria sounding irritated with Guzma post-game, she’s actually worried sick about him. When she does meet up with him again she can’t even pretend to be mad at him, she’s just so happy he’s okay and is actually brought to tears when he reveals he’s taken Hala up on his offer and is back on the road to becoming a great trainer again.
Personal Headcanon! Based on my experiences at the Hau’oli Battle Buffet, I don’t think my character could actually eat 5-10 servings of a single item in one go (whenever I see text like “You got _ plates of (whichever food)” I tend to think the plate size reflects the average plate size at American buffets—they’re big, about 12” in diameter). So, I like to think that once I’ve gotten my haul I actually share my food with my team.
Adding onto an earlier headcanon, Plumeria and Kahili didn’t like each other at all either especially because of his past with the latter. After Plums went through the Elite 4, Kahili mentioned Guzma and that Plumeria could do better than him. Plumeria got so angry about her attitude that she had to give her a verbal dressing down and once Kahili found out that Guzma got HURT by his own parents for losing, she actually felt sick to her stomach after remembering everything she ever said. She still fears it’s too late to apologize even behind her cutthroat demeanor. And if she attempts, man will Plumeria have to serve as the most patient mediator ever. Apologizing to Plums is one thing, apologizing to Guzma is another.
Gladion won’t admit it, but he likes it when Hau invites him over to his house. One time he brought over his console and some Sonic games for a sleepover and it was the most fun he’s ever had.
Olivia has encouraged Mallow to make her own YouTube channel where she makes videos about her latest recipes. While Mallow hasn’t made her channel at all—besides, she’s too busy with her duties as a Trial Captain--she still wonders about how well her show would do if she made it. She’d call it “Mallow’s Kitchen” or “Sugar, Spice, and Delish Tamato Slice!”
Kiawe would never have considered putting Wyoming on his bucket list of places to travel to had someone not mentioned Yellowstone National Park and the supervolcano slumbering beneath it. Now he’s gotta check that sh1t out.
Colress is a secret agent for the Aether Foundation.
Ilima was bumped up a couple grades because of his maturity and willingness to accept greater responsibilities as a Trial Captain.
Plumeria knows firsthand that the “skinny penis” joke associated with Guzma is a flat out lie.
Wicke jokingly checked out some Steven Universe episodes at Faba’s recommendation. One season later, she became infatuated with the series.
Guzma has a very bad habit of lying to his mother and he hates himself for it. The reason why it sprung up as bad as it did is because his mother, while well-meaning, is really none the wiser about her husband’s behavior. Mother asks about his bruises? Guzma says he fell on Route 3 even though the bruises came from, well, the obvious. Mother asks why Guzma can’t get out of bed? He says his stomach hurts even though he was hit so hard last night he was still in too much pain to get up. Mother asks about Team Skull? Guzma says he had no involvement even though the news HAD to have covered them at some point and may have footage of him. Even if he did tell the truth growing up what could she even do about it? Sit his dad down and talk about what’s going on and try to resolve it? Guzma still loves his mom, but he’s starting to get tired of her laze-faire attitude and naivety that would make Lianne Cartman look like she’s got her ducks in a row.
Ilima makes either sugar cookies or macadamia nut cookies when friends come over for tea. They just seem like just the kind of fancy cookies that would be served with tea, in his opinion.
Hau faced Hala first in his run through the Elite 4 and convinced him to go all out against him. Considering that Hala unintentionally scared Hau when he was little and refused to unleash his fury since then in battle, Hala took that challenge. At the end of their battle, both of them were crying as Hau went to hug him; Hau was proud of his grandpa for unleashing his full fury in battle, and Hala was proud of his grandson for how far he’s come and bringing his best.
Mina has always had paint in her hair. Finger paint, acrylic, oil, you name it. When you get super artistic from a young age you never really pay attention to where your painting tool goes outside of the canvas.
Guzma’s hair is hella SOFT. It’s like petting a cloud made of very plush microfleece. To keep it that way, Plumeria lets him use her shampoo and conditioner and he makes sure to wash his hair every other day.
Molayne likes to think of the frequency of his friends cussing on a scale from 1 (no swearing here) to South Park (they swear so much you’d think they need their mouth washed out with soap). Molayne ranks about a 3 (some swearing, but only as needed), Kukui is about a 4 (might need a stronger word on occasion for things), Sophocles ranks about 4, Hala ranks about 3, Hau is a 1, Nanu is a 6 (frequent low-key swearing to infrequent strong swearing) Plumeria is a 9 (uses stronger words very frequently), and Guzma ranks at South Park (he swears a LOT). The player character… well it depends on who you are, I guess.
The best place to get Tapu Cocoa is at the Observatory. Especially at dusk.
Guzma and Plumeria rarely get completely unclothed for sex because their outfits are just too comfortable. All they really gotta do is kick off their shoes and socks, Guzma will get rid of his glasses, off go Plumeria’s pants and sports bra, and Guzma just has to yank the front of his pants down, pull the crotch of her panties aside and stick it in. Plumeria also pulls her shirt up over one or both boobs for him to grab. Sex after showering or bathing only really calls for Plumeria to clip her hair back. Condoms only used to protect against STD’s since she’s on the pill (this is the only relationship they’ve ever been in, but you never know).
Sorry, Grunts, you may be sexually attracted to Plumeria or Guzma (it seems to be a rite of passage for a Grunt to find themselves attracted to either of them during their involvement) and you can fantasize about fucking all you want, but sex between the Grunts and the higher ups is off limits.
If you want to know how bad Ultra Space affected him, Guzma has had to confide in Hala and Nanu about a particularly bad nightmare he had one night about being tentacle raped by Lusamine as the Mother Beast. Sure, he’s had nightmares for a while as a result but damn…
Professor Willow is Guzma’s biological father. Because Guzma’s mother isn’t the most trustworthy in long-term relations, she was seeing Willow on the sideline while already in a relationship with the man she would later marry. Guzma was then conceived by Willow in a time frame so close to sex with the husband that the mother and her husband both thought Guzma was of the man we see in the game. The mother continues to see Willow on the sideline while pregnant and he’s well aware of her having an affair with him and tries to get her to just come clean to her husband and he’ll help mediate the fallout. She really doesn’t think it’s that big a deal. Willow takes her to the hospital and at birth it can be seen that Guzma’s hair is a dead giveaway of his parentage (black and white, just like Willow’s). The husband eventually finds out and puts two and two together when Willow comes over to see the baby. The mother gets caught with her cheating but still treats it like no big deal, Willow is forced to stay out of his son’s life indefinitely, and Guzma looks forward to a miserable life with this man as his father. If Willow could do it over again, he would’ve just walked right up to the husband, told the truth about the affair, and accept a role as a single father to raise Guzma on his own once he was born. Professor Willow misses him so much and he knows he’s going to have a lot to talk about with Guzma when he finally sees him again.
While going through some of Plumeria’s music, Guzma and Gladion found a couple of ‘N Sync CDs. Wondering why Plumeria listens to them a lot they decide to play them for the lulz. The next day they’re in the nearest media store looking for their own copies.

At about the beginning of last school year, I began logging the random stuff I’ve heard or seen around the wonder that is high school. Admittedly, some of this contains some of my shenanigans, because who am I going to pay more attention to other than myself. Writing every single thing all at once would take a while (the document I’ve been using is nearly to 16 pages as of now), so this is just a collection of some of what I deem funnier or more bizarre.
Class split into groups of 4. The four Asian kids teamed up. The one guy of the group whispered “Asian Invasion”
The manga section of the school library had two volumes of yaoi
The manga section of the school library being mixed in with the comic section
The comic and manga section of the school library being in the middle of the non-fiction area because “its cultural”
“I can’t reach the top shelf in my house, and who’s going to help me there? My dog? I don’t think so.”
“Wow! That’s so cool! I don’t care, I might tomorrow. No, wait! It’s Saturday!”
“This one is fancy heels, this one is fancy pants”
“Wait, it’s a different Louis?” “There are a lot of Louii”
“And then the guillotine was too slow, so they shot them instead” “...okay”
“This is due Thursday, right? Let’s discuss who’s doing what slide and leave it at that because yay, procrastination”
The Latin teacher teaching us how to say “Go to hell” in Latin when she told a story about someone in the Latin 3 class having asked what the phrase in question from one of their books meant
The radio was playing music over the gymnasium. My Immortal came on. “I’m so tired of being here” “Hah, same”
“Everyone knows what a coup d'etat is, right?”
We got the majority of the class
“An overthrowing by the military”
And we got this kid
“It sounds like something from Lion King”
“???”
Someone said “Coup d’etat” slowly, to the tuneish of “Hakuna matata”
The realization and understanding dawning across the class
Waiting in those minutes for class to end, a few people sat there quietly singing Hakuna Matata
“A coup d’etat-ta, what a wonderful thing”
“And this guy was like “Hell yeah, we want change…””
“Probably using different words”
“Well yeah, he used French”
“Is that a lacrosse ball?” “Yeah” “We’re in theater, how the fuck did you get that?”
One girl sitting on one of the plastic desk chairs with her knees to her chest, calmly eating a salad as she participated in the class discussion
One girl dislocated her arm in sports and, instead of keeping it in a sling, got this exoskeleton thing made to keep her arm at a 90 degree angle. She was way too excited to discover it was at a perfect angle for dabbing.
“I swear, if we have a pop quiz in that class I’m going to cry. Or kill a man. I can’t tell which anymore”
One girl all but sprinting down the hall as she let out some low shrieking noise, only stopping when she got to her friend’s side and leaned far enough in front of him to make eye contact.
“I was doing, like, six things at once and thought ‘What if the building fell right now? I would get nothing done.’ Because hey, it’s the end of the year, I got all this stuff to do, and it would be really inconvenient.”
One guy had a table in the lobby and stood, roll of tinfoil in hand and tinfoil hat on head, yelling about the Illuminati, aliens, and government. He was passing out tinfoil hats to anyone who wanted them
Someone walked into my Latin class wearing one and magistra asked if the guy was talking about the “Alluminati” instead of the Illuminati
One girl’s promposal where she called out the other girl’s name to get her attention as one friend to her right began playing “Never gonna give you up” and the friend to the right held roses. The sign she held read “It would meme a lot if you went to prom with me” in large shiny foil letters, meme in purple as opposed to the gold of the others, and a pepe in the bottom right corner. It was adorable.
“I nearly got a detention for reading in reading class. I was tempted to continue just for when people asked me what I was in for”
On a Latin test, there was a section where you were given 7 names and you had to give a fact about 5 of them. For Vulcan, the Roman god of fire, someone put “A species of alien that appears in the series Star Trek” and he got a point for that.
A girl put “Got a Yugioh card named after him” in small font for Regulus, but filled in 5 others seriously
One girl who is Very Passionate about Yugioh
The teacher was making hand gestures as he spoke. He paused in gestures with his hand outstretched, still addressing the class, and the person sitting right beside him reached out and gave him a high-five
The guy who gave him the high-five had hacked his (the history teacher’s) computer earlier that year
The common “Final” for jazz band is that the teacher brings in Rock Band and they play that
“I’m amazed, you can hear the lack of brain cells”
One meme of a girl wrote “I’M SCHLEEP” on the whiteboard in band. She took a picture of it and walked away satisfied with herself. A few minutes later, the band director piped up from the back of the room. “Hey, Ashley? What does ‘schleep’ mean?” “I dunno”
Someone hiking up their shorts to the length of girls’ shorts, pulling his shirt down so you can’t see them, and Naruto running a circle around the room
Due to state testing, classes were shortened. On the day of the final band concert, those involved went to their first three classed but remained in third (concert band. Those from wind ensemble were pulled in as well) and lurked there for the rest of the day to practice. Pizza was ordered and soda was brought for a celebration of sorts. The 32 pizzas ordered were emptied within around half an hour.
A group of three girls and two guys. The third girl declared herself the fifth wheel of the group, staring tiredly at the two couples.
She didn’t really seem to care, though, and generally could be found latched onto one of her friend’s arms. Both the friend and friend’s boyfriend didn’t really seem to care either.
The other couple, meanwhile, was fluent in innuendos and suggestive comments that tended to scare away the asexual fifth wheel.
“Freshmen, do not climb into the trash cans, thank you.”
One girl convinced some guy in class that Inside Out ends with the girl dying
“That’s not possible.” “It’s magic, shut up.”
“Why is the final cumulative? I can’t remember shit.”
One girl’s realization that graduation was the following day (seniors have been out for well over a week, it’s hard to tell) and the complaint at how “WE HAVE TO PLAY AT THE FREAKING THING, WHY DOES NOBODY TELL ME THESE THINGS?!”
One kid brought in wasabi candy. He offered some to his table mate before telling him what it was. He ate the offered treat with hesitance and a shrug, but the underlying regret was visible before long.
“I hope you know my scoliosis doesn’t like you.”
Some people (4 or 5?) in the corner of the room, taking the Rice Purity test and comparing answers
Apparently the sole girl of the group had the worst score
A math teacher who doubled as the theater director had his yearbook picture taken in a ghillie suit
The ghillie suits had been gotten for the production of Little Shop of Horrors the year prior
“I love getting stepped on!”
Someone was complaining about how their hair looked bad. Our teacher just “Yeah, tell me about it,” gesturing to his own balding head
One of the freshmen band kids after graduation reverently whispering “You’re free” to every graduate they passed
For graduation, all of the people of the band and choir were wearing muted colors - whites, blacks, pale blues, soft floral patterns, etc. - and then we have one cackling flutist in fluorescent orange
“If Kim Kardashian doesn’t feel ashamed, neither should you” - the fucking valedictorian speech
It contained other golden moments such as “I got to work with some of these students due to my participation in The King and I,” (Note: he was the king) “and one of them said something profound that stuck with me. He beckoned me closer and made me lean down and he whispered in my ear… “yolo.” Now, according to Urban Dictionary, yolo is “a term that should have stopped being used five years ago and means You only live once””
He kept looping back to yolo. “What does yolo mean to you”
Next day some of us from the musical had been talking about that the next day. The collective statement was “Hudson. That was Hudson”
“We were the first class to take keystones, and the last generation to not get touchscreen laptops. What a time to be alive!”
The “corner crew” of Latin class (the people who had taken the Rice Purity test) decided to get a group picture with the teacher. One person in the group is my book-nerd friend who had been placed there by the teacher in an attempt to break up their antics (it didn’t work, they absorbed him, much to his exasperation). My friend is the smallest out of the group, so they decided to pick him up. The picture was taken with “Te Amo, Latin” written on the board behind them, my friend held aloft horizontally, and magistra slightly crouched in front of the group with an unsure smile.
The corner crew also had done a presentation on how Canada is just a government conspiracy and also the government is run by shape shifting lizards
“Did you really assign a project? Mr [Last name], I am appalled! There are four days left in school”
It was a 6 prompt essay. All prompts had to be answered with proper sources and everything.
That got a lot longer than intended, so I only covered the happenings of last year (still 6.5 pages of nearly 16)...

Suspended In Midair
Tara’s parents always told her never to seek magic. Tonight, though, she had no intention of listening.
The night of All Saints’ Wake had come, and five-year-old Tara bore an enthusiasm unlike any other. After all, this year she would finally wear the kind of costume she had always wanted to! What more could she ask for?
Mere minutes earlier, Tara had bounced down the stairs inside her big house and ran into the kitchen, proudly showing herself off to her mother and father. Like so many other little girls must have at the time, Tara had dressed herself as a princess. Her bright pink dress sparkled and shimmered, her long, white gloves felt silky and soft, and her golden tiara glittered. Having particularly wealthy parents certainly had its perks. The two of them ensured that their dear daughter always had the best she could ask for, enough to look like a proper young lady.
“Aww, you look so beautiful!” her mother, Daphne, exclaimed.
Her father, Nathan, jokingly walked over and asked “Would it be alright if I asked the princess for a dance?” Tara laughed, that kind of joyful giggle that we hear from a child when they play with some new toy they have wanted “for forever,” and she played along as her father scooped her up in his arms and the three of them laughed together, like a happy family.
Their fanfare continued as they set out, with the three of them pulling on coats, mindful of the night’s chill in the air, and making their way to the waterside. The ferry ride that took them to Limsa Lominsa from the small island where Tara’s parents’ home and business stood lasted ten minutes at most, and she and her parents kept the festivities up as best they could, their gilded smiles shimmering.
It seemed as though Tara could hardly contain her excitement, and as soon as they reached the docks, she leapt off of the boat, seeming ready to leave her parents behind right then and there, but Nathan caught her and pulled her up into his arms. In a light voice, he chided his lively daughter. “Now, Tara,” he began, “I know you’re excited, but you have to wait until we meet up with your class and get some candy, but we need to walk you there so you don’t get lost.”
“Candy!!!” Tara yelled as Nathan carried her to their destination and Daphne followed behind them, looking amused. Of course, in truth, while it may taste sweet, Tara did not merely pursue candy on that night. No, this precocious little girl hungered for something even more delectable. Soon, the perfect opportunity would come to her, and she had already made the preparations to see it through. She need only leave the clutches of her parents and claim her prize.
Much like the boat ride preceding it, their trip to the home of Tara’s teacher ended quickly and filled itself with little more than the family’s idle chatter. Upon reaching their destination, Nathan set Tara down and she immediately inquired about where in the house her teacher might have a bathroom. As soon as the teacher responded, Tara took off and went inside, not bothering to stop and talk to any of her classmates first. Finding that the bathroom did not have anyone inside at the time, Tara rushed inside and slammed the door shut, whipped off her coat and pulled her princess costume off, revealing an adorable, black costume that had hidden beneath the dress and its big skirt.
Tara laughed and pulled a purple ribbon out of her pocket, using it to tie off a braid she had put in her hair, then jumped onto the edge of the sink, using her little arms to lift herself up so she could see her reflection in the mirror that she did not quite stand tall enough to see herself clearly in. A golden grin shone through her and her eyes widened with glee. She wore the clothes of the Young Witch of the Forest, her favorite character from one of her favorite books, one of the ones her parents did not know about. A black dress with big, yellow buttons on the front worn over a long-sleeved white shirt with a fluffy white apron tied around her waist and simple black shoes made Tara look just like that mischievous blonde witch she so admired, especially when complete with the braid. “If only my eyes were brown like hers, too,” she thought, but she wasted no more time on such an impossible modification. Still, just one thing remained…
After stashing her princess dress in one of her teacher’s medicine cabinets and flushing the toilet to make sure that her cover story held up, Tara left the bathroom with a playful grin that captured the spirit of the character she imitated perfectly. Magaga Maga, Tara’s teacher, had evidently returned from speaking with Tara’s parents, and Tara approached her. “Thank you so so so sooooooo much for the costume!” Tara cried. “I love it so much!”
Miss Maga, a short, bespectacled Lalafell, a younger teacher who had just recently gotten a job at Tara’s school, and one who treated her students very nicely, had heard from Tara that the little (for a Hyuran value of little) girl’s parents had searched and searched, but simply couldn’t find this costume that Tara so desperately wanted, and Miss Maga had told Tara that she had just seen that very same costume at a store just a few days ago. Of course, Tara knew this, but she pretended she had no idea. If Tara could bring her money from her parents, she had asked, could she possibly bring Tara the costume? Miss Maga had graciously accepted the offer, and Tara had promptly burst with gratitude.
That night, Tara asked her parents for money for the teacher to buy food and decorations for Miss Maga’s All Saints’ Wake party, which would involve all the students meeting at their teacher’s house and going out to collect candy together. Tara knew that, conveniently, her parents could only drop her off and pick her up, since the two of them had to meet with some businessman their daughter cared not enough to remember the name or description of. The perfect opportunity for Tara to dress up as a magician, as she had always wanted, had come.
“You just wait one second,” Miss Maga said before running off on her tiny legs to get the two missing pieces of the ensemble, the witch’s hat and wand. Tara simply couldn’t fit those items, a hat too big and a wand too fragile, into her little backpack, so Miss Maga happily kept them for her so that Tara could pick them up on the night of the party. When the kind teacher returned, Tara jumped up and down with joy and took them. The big hat felt like it had found a home on her head, and the little fake wand in her hand felt just the same. While Tara knew they did not make her a real witch, the cheap costume filled her with hope and pride, as if to remind her that her dreams could still come true in the future. Maybe, someday, she could convince her parents that magic was not so bad…
Once all the other kids arrived, Miss Maga called all the kids, assorted children of every race who dressed themselves up as animals, princes and princesses, characters from books and plays, horrifying monsters, and more over to her, and the parents who could show up followed after their children and tried to keep them quiet (with limited success) as their teacher told them all they needed to know, like where they would go in town and some rules like: “Don’t take more than one piece of candy so everyone else can have one” and “Don’t stray from the group” and “Try to remember which Lalafell are students and which are parents.” Tara, one of the few children whose parents could not show up, could hardly pay attention. The novelty of her perfect attire consumed her gleefully. She simply could not wait to jump out into the night and prance around as though she had become an actual witch.
When it finally came time to go, Tara, unsurprisingly, rushed for the door, but Miss Maga managed to reel her in before Tara’s own little legs could carry her too far.
Despite its uneventfulness, the night that followed would forever remain a treasured memory for the hopeful, passionate, and determined Tara Celica. What felt to others like just another All Saints’ Wake felt to Tara like the greatest night of her little life, a night where she could entertain the dream of becoming a knowledgeable mage. So long as she stayed within Miss Maga’s sight, Tara could do, well… whatever she wanted! Such freedom Tara had never known!
Loudly and bombastically, she pranced around and mimed conjury spells with her wand and chuckled, mimicking the witch she had dressed herself as. Sometimes as she pranced around, she would spread her arms out to her sides like wings, and from the look on her face, one might have forgotten that she could not fly. Her joy lifted her up, higher, higher, toward the stars above.
By the time the class finished their run around town and every child had their huge party bag filled to the brim with candy, Tara had become something of an annoyance to some of the other partygoers. Of course, one could have expected that outcome; Tara did not have any particularly close friends – the other kids found her obsession with magic and the arcane off-putting or tiring – and some of the parents recognized her for her reputation.
“Such a shame that you couldn’t reel in that unruly little girl,” one of the mothers, a tall Wildwood Elezen, told Miss Maga. “I hear that she’s always making trouble and ignoring her parents.”
Miss Maga laughed uncomfortably. “I think she was just having fun tonight,” she said with a nervous grin. “And she behaves herself in class well enough most of the time. As long as she’s not hurting anyone, it’s fine, right?”
The mother nodded, but did not speak, issuing only a slightly disapproving, “Hmm, yes…” The conversation ended there, abruptly, and the woman turned away, wondering what that strange girl would become if she never learned a modicum of obedience.
Miss Maga knew that Tara’s parents did not want to see their little girl become a mage. They worried for her well-being. Danger and magic sometimes went hand in hand, and they wanted their daughter to pursue a more safe, secure profession. As far as Miss Maga could tell, Tara’s radiant passion had not dimmed even the slightest bit, no matter how hard they attempted to dissuade her.
Sighing, Miss Maga wondered what would become of the young midlander. She believed that children should follow their dreams, but she had to take responsibility for her kids, so she listened to Tara’s parents’ request. Besides, kids as young as Miss Maga’s students hardly ever learned to use any magic; like Tara’s parents said, the arcane could cause suffering just as easily as it could alleviate it.
As she watched Tara return from her second bathroom break, Miss Maga hoped they might come around when Tara grew a little older. After all, as far as she knew, they had allowed her to wear a witch costume tonight, so maybe they had already in some small capacity.
Meanwhile, Tara had already changed back into her princess costume, but her coat – which, thankfully, was too big for her incredibly small body – covered her enough that one could not really tell. Her parents had just arrived, and they suspected nothing. Everything had gone off without a hitch, and Tara had enjoyed her All Saints’ Wake as a witch! Even after the festivities had come to a close, her happiness burned its way through the entire room. She even managed to fit the hat and wand into the bottom of her candy bag so that she could take it home with her! If she wanted to, she could pull off the same ruse again, perhaps! They just needed to stay well-hidden, like when Tara checked out spellbooks from the library and hid them behind the other books she had. Maybe these could go in the back of her closet, and the dress could be hung under the same hangar as another, bigger dress?
“I’m so glad I could help with the costume,” Miss Maga said, interrupting Tara’s thoughts. “Tara looked so adorable as a witch!”
Fear petrified Tara. Her eyes widened, her jaw dropped, and sweat began to pour from her forehead and hands. As shrewd as she was, a five-year-old could not think of everything, and she had never stopped to consider that Miss Maga could have said something like that.
Daphne and Nathan reacted similarly, with the same shocked eyes and sighs of disbelief, but those quickly gave way to an incredulous anger. “A witch?” Daphne asked. “We sent her here in a princess costume. But you mean to say that Tara came here as a witch tonight?”
Miss Maga seemed to have read the atmosphere, but nothing remained that she could do but tell the truth. “Tara said you had searched for a Young Witch of the Forest costume and couldn’t find one, but I told her I could, and… she gave me the money to buy it for her, so I…”
Immediately, Daphne and Nathan realized that Miss Maga may have never needed help buying things for the party, and if she did, Tara likely did not help her buy any of that. However, while the specifics stayed uncertain, one thing made itself clear: Tara needed punishment.
“Come on, Tara, we’re going,” Daphne said, and Nathan grabbed the girl’s wrist and began dragging her away to the door while throwing a disinterested “Thanks” in the direction of a distraught Miss Maga. When they got outside, Nathan lifted his daughter back into his arms, but far more roughly than he had when they had set out. Daphne gripped Tara’s shoulders and looked into her big, blue eyes, which welled up with tears. “I want a full explanation when we get home, and then, you will be punished for a long, long time.”
Tara began to cry, and loudly at that, but they merely told her to quiet down and walked in silence, and the shroud of quiet that they moved in lasted even through the ferry ride and the walk back to their house. Once they entered their house, though, the silence broke.
Nathan lifted up Tara’s princess skirt, revealing the dress and apron underneath. Then, the two of them pulled off the princess dress entirely, even as Tara feebly fought to keep it on, as though she could somehow deny the existence of the witch outfit and escape her scolding.
Once the witch costume had become fully unveiled, Daphne knelt down, yelled, “A hundred or a thousand times now, I don’t know, but we’ve told you to never, ever get involved with magic!” and she swiftly slapped Tara across the cheek as she reprimanded her. A pathetic cry rang out in response, but her parents knew now that they could not relent. They had known for a long time that their daughter did not listen, did not obey, did not care, and so as painful as it may have been, they needed to give her much harsher discipline. “How many times does this have to happen, Tara!? How many!? How many!?” Now, Daphne cried, too, and she hit Tara once more, and this time Tara sank to her knees and sobbed.
Nathan joined in now. “You have done a very bad thing, young lady,” he screamed. “And this time, you’ve taken advantage of your teacher, too! Go to your room! And know that you won’t leave this house for the next week, not even for school!” Slowly, Tara lifted herself up onto her arms, and then her parents yelled at her to go to her room once more. What if they hit her again!? Whenever they got this mad, she needed to run, or they would hit her again! They would hit her, again, again, again, again again again…
Tara ran to her room and collapsed against the door. Once again, she had failed, and she curled up into a ball on the floor, wailing. Her cheek stung from the hits dealt to her, red marks of her ignominy and dishonesty. Tears dripped onto her little dress and she wiped them away with her shirt’s long, white sleeves. Failure… Failure… All she ever did…
Weakly, she lifted her head to look out her window. The stars gleamed far above her… always out of reach. All she wanted was to learn magic… She knew that her parents worried, but magic had claimed her passion. Tara could never let it go… but if she kept clinging to it, her parents would keep getting angry, and sad, and they’d hurt her. The two of them had their issues with magic, and Tara could understand their pain – Nathan’s family ridiculing him for his lack of magical talent, and Daphne’s parents treating her as little more than a test subject for their terrifying research – but how could Tara leave behind her dream? Her head fell down again.
While her head could not yet reach the clouds, neither could her feet touch the ground, and so she could only float, adrift and alone. And on the floor below, her parents started discussing how many days would pass before they would allow her to eat again.
(Author’s Note: If you actually read all of that (sorry it was so long), thank you very much and I hope that you enjoyed it! There’s more to come soon!)

Fishbowl Punch
So this is a story I wrote for a Discord Secret Santa, and I’m going to finally post it here! It’s kind of... a mix, but I had a lot of fun writing it.
Slickpaint, and a Solfef/Eriara mash. Cw for alcohol.
Tumblr media
You realise you’re boned the moment she slaps some shine on your shoes and hands you a brand new tie like it’s a pleasant surprise instead of a portent of coming doom, all bright pink and the sort of thing you’d laugh off the face of the earth before putting on if it was being presented in any hands other than those soft round ones of hers that could hand you your best friend’s head on a stick and still get an earnest, aw, thanks doll in reply.
Either she knows that and is playing you like a fiddle or she doesn’t and is sincere in everything she does, and one is hot and one is cute and both just make your traitorous heart beat a little faster as you take the tie and loop it under your shirt collar and lean forward just enough she can reach up to you and do it up in a neat knot you absolutely couldn’t have managed with two hands, let alone one. Lousy knots. The woman’s a wizard at them, weaving ties and bows in shapes you’re pretty sure are non-Euclidean in nature, but if an Elder God ever comes knocking looking for some help dolling up for their prom they can take a hike because those magical hands and the bustling body of joy they’re attached to are taken, and adored right the fuck where they already are.
Dolling up is something best left to her, anyway, and she paints her face pretty as she paints a canvas, all subtle colours in the right places that are barely noticeable but could make a sculptor weep jealousy over the perfect shapes they come together to form. You call up into the bathroom if she’s going to wear that one dress, she knows, the sparkly one with the green. She asks you if you’re going to wear your nice eyepatch if she does.
You do not want to wear an eyepatch that makes you look like you’re some anime-obsessed twelve year old’s character on some shitty online collection of art that you have too much pride in yourself to know the name of. There’s a silence while you consider how best to let her down.
She’ll wear the headscarf you like with all the pastels, she calls down into the pause.
Well then.
It’s time to find your nice eyepatch.
You know you’ll find it right where you left it, shoved underneath everything else you never wanted to see again, like the full ream of love notes Clover kept posting through your door before he caught sight of that new guy with all the shouting and the hair that defies at least three laws of physics. The collection of letters seeking your wife’s affection- and also, to your continued distaste, your own- are pushed to one side and reveal a poster with your own face on it, like a further descent through the circles of hell that will end with an eyepatch or with eternal damnation, both of which would suit you about the same. The reward above your leering mug is severely out of date. There’s been at least four major incidents since then, and at least two extra zeroes slapped on the end by the powers that be.
What will be the third level of hell? You lift the poster and- oh. Er. You lift a hand to shove the lens of some imaginary viewing device aside, leaving the purely hypothetical viewer staring at a picture of the finest breed of dog ever bred, sitting on a cushion with a little tartan hat at a jaunty angle upon its noble head. If said viewer were to have briefly caught glimpse of any pictures of you in any kind of canine-based outfit, say the kind used by platonic connoisseurs of all things furred, you would tell them that first of all, they’re seeing things and no such pictures have ever existed, kid, shut your dirty lying mouth.
Secondly you would tell them that mouth better stay shut, or else.
No one can know.
Especially Droog.
And- Look, it’s not your fault that that gal at the store with the fuzzy ears was so persuasive when she started talking about that convention thing and the need for extra guests and discount rates and getting to experience the carefree life of a perfect Scottie-
Oh thank fuck there’s your eyepatch you’ve never been so happy to see it in your life.
After a little business, you return to the stairs just in time to find the missus slipping down it with all the grace her stout body can pack, dress clasped gently in one hand to lift it high enough it doesn’t get in the way of each of her steady steps. She smiles at you, cheeks dark and eyes surrounded with a pastel rainbow that sets off the dark colour in them nicely, and you’re halfway to a goofy smile back before she stops and sniffs once, then again, her eyebrows dropping with her dress and her arms coming into a tight fold over her chest.
What’s that smell, she asks you.
What smell, you say.
The smell of burning, she replies without a minute of time for your shit. And why is there ash on your fingers?
Spring cleaning, you tell her with a very serious nod.
What did you do.
You didn’t do a damn thing.
She said, what did you do.
You squeak. Damn, she’s got that look in her eye that says if you want to make it to the diner in one piece you better buck that shit right the fuck now or she’ll be packing what’s left of you in her handbag. She’s a feisty little thing, really.
You adore her.
Alright, alright, maybe you burned something, obviously accidentally, like some kind of incriminating photo that definitely, one hundred percent does not exist any longer, if it ever did. A tragedy! A disaster. How will you live without that unproven photograph haunting your every-
Was it the dog photo, she asks.
What dog photo? There is no dog photo. Was there ever a dog photo? You doubt it.
She smiles and finishes her descent, bustling past you with a very gentle pat to your arm.
Don’t worry, she says, she has copies.
Your wife is the single worst thing to ever happen to you. You set your jaw and roll your eye into the patch as you turn and sulk your way out behind her, pouting as she settles in the driver’s seat and reminds you that if she’d been looking for a child to take care of, she’d have gone looking for an adoption, not a wedding.
The place is basically empty when you show up, except for two assholes in the corner who both look like the only reason they’re even here is to hide from the fashion police and the laws of decency that forbid the wearing of stupid shades everywhere but mostly indoors- oh, and a group of kids who apparently haven’t heard dress codes have updated a little since the middle ages, given there’s one more cape involved than is acceptable in a modern public place, meaning there’s exactly one cape.
Of fucking course the waiter takes you to the table right next to them, ignoring the many, many empty tables that are literally everywhere else.
“-I’m not saying you can’t wear a cape in your own space,” one of the guys behind you is saying, slow and steady but not escaping the flat hiss the attempt at each s makes when it hits his teeth, “but that’s in your own space, where no one else has to experience its- what did he say?”
“Majesty,” a girl replies, tone so dead you’d think she was if she wasn’t speaking.
“Right, right, its majesty, because that’s totally a thing it’s got in droves.”
“My cape is fine,” hisses back becaped asshole, showing a staggering lack of self-awareness you thought only Deuce was capable of. “In fact it’s more than fine. They asked us to dress smartly and you’re all fuckin’ underdressed and jealous, that’s what you are.”
“Oh yeah. That’s exactly what’s happening here. I’m not embarrassed, I’m devastated by my stupid clothing choices that led to me being caught in this part of town without a cape. I must look like a beggar, barely able to afford a napkin for a makeshift cloak-”
“Put that down,” Cape hisses, informing you along with the chorus of giggles that a napkin had in fact probably made its way across Lisp’s shoulders. “God you wanna talk about embarrassments? You’re an embarrassment.”
“How can I argue with that? You are a professional in the field of huge fuck-ups.”
“You little piece of-”
“Can I get you a drink?” The waiter interrupts, and you’re almost annoyed at him for distracting you from the possible soap-opera in the making over your shoulder until you see your doll giving you a look and hastily sweep up the menu so you can jab at something without looking at what it is. “Oh- An excellent choice, sir. And for the lady?”
“Scotch,” she hums, and you stare at her as she adds that she’d like it on the rocks, maintaining eye contact with you the whole time as your brain filters Scotch to Scot to Scottie and you get the joke being made at your expense. Absolutely hilarious, you mutter at her once the waiter is gone. Her wink tells you she agrees.
You give it a reasonable pause before you filter back into the conversation playing out behind you, irritated to have missed some of what might actually be passable entertainment.
“-not my fault Kanaya enables him,” the girl who didn’t speak before is protesting in the kind of voice that’s bright and loud even when it’s cramped into a whisper. “She says he’s very persuasive when he wants to be!”
“Yeesh, there’s a whole thing I don’t want to know about,” Lisp answers, and you know the affronted sniffle is Cape before he starts complaining.
“There is nothing between Kanaya and I and I don’t much appreciate you implyin’ anythin’ to the opposite effect! Ain’t my fault she’s got a sense of style you’re lacking, or that she’s the only one around who listens to my voice of reason- except you, Ara, obviously, you do plenty of listenin’ to me and I appreciate it constantly, sweetheart.”
“A noble sacrifice that won’t be forgotten by those of us getting our poor ears spared.” It sounds like Lisp just reached and pat her hand in sympathy, and as your glazed eyes roam the menu you gotta say you don’t think you blame him. “A terrible burden, the path you’re walking down…”
“Eridan is more interesting than you think,” Ara replies, revealing herself as the voice of death and still sounding just as excited as the crayfish you’re considering for a starter. “He has a lot of interesting stories about the socio-political imbalances that led to historical conflicts, and also wizards.”
“And also wizards. Fuck, I’m pissing over here.” Yeah, you too, Lisp. You too.
“Wizards are cool,” Cape protests, pout audible in his voice. “Better than fucking bees.”
“Hey the only thing fucking bees right now is other bees and also humanity’s disregard for the most important species on the planet.”
“There I was thinking humans were pretty fuckin’ important.”
“Get back to me when humans can function in perfect harmony with nature to keep the whole world alive and I’ll reconsider.”
This is sounding dangerously like a synopsis of that fucking film Deuce keeps sending you sped up versions of, and this time you’re grateful for the waiter interrupting it right up until you see the monstrosity of a drink sitting beside a small, sensible glass of ice and whiskey.
“One scotch on the rocks,” he explains, placing the glass down in front of your wife even as she continues to stare at the new focus of all your barely contained hatred, “and one fishbowl punch.”
Well you can’t pin them for false advertising because that is a fucking fishbowl in front of you, filled with punch, umbrellas and straws, turned luminescent pink by the flashing ice cubes inside that are pulsing to the beat of a rave being held all over the corpse of your dignity. You stare at it, the waiter stares at you, your missus stares at the waiter and he holds up his little pad like a shield and taps frantically at the scrawled note on it you couldn’t read if you were a code breaker.
“It’s what you ordered, sir!”
Of course it is.
Before you can get out a protest he’s absconded and you’re left gazing at the mesmerising jacuzzi of poor taste that only the sort of person who wears a cape unironically would find appealing, opening and closing your mouth a few times before your dear, darling wife takes pity on you and pushes her scotch into your hand.
You could both share it, she suggests as you down her drink in one, although that would involve consuming it, and you’re not sure what shit the colour of potpourri windex would do to your insides. Come on, she prompts. You can both have a straw each and drink together and it’ll be romantic.
And then you can both get food poisoning or- if it’s a drink it’s just straight-up poisoning, right? And you can have a romantic hospital stay together!
Exactly, your missus smiles, and waits patiently until you cave in and lean forward to take a tentative sip of what you can only assume is the milk of a mutant hybrid between a cow and a stick of fruity bubblegum. Ugh. You make a face that’s probably just a redraw of the same disgusted face everyone seems to make in this godforsaken town, but your doll looks happy and you guess in some deep-down secret part of the withered thing your doctor would hesitantly refer to as your heart, that’s what really matters.
“Oh man, that looks delicious, you think I can order that?” Cape is whispering on the table behind you, and look at that, who would’ve guessed it, who could possibly have foreseen he’d want to drink the atrocious insult to cocktail menus everywhere that is glittering obnoxiously between you and your lady.
A chair creaks, once as someone turns towards you and once again as they turn away.
“We could share,” Ara monotones, “but I want the umbrellas.”
“Of course, love, you can have every umbrella that you want.”
“Ugh,” Lisp starts, “you guys are-”
“I want one.” Bubbly interrupts him, and all of a sudden her sugary voice is like a candy-cane made of cyanide. “Please, Sollux? You said it was my treat today!”
“Fef, I said my willing participation in an event involving sitting next to Eridan for an hour was your treat.”
“No, you said dinner was my treat, and that I could’ve have whatever I wanted!” She’s whining like a kicked puppy and you can perfectly picture the sort of satisfied smirk that must be lighting up Cape’s- Eridan’s? Why do you even care what their names are- face right now. “I want one of those! It’s in a fishbowl, Sollux! It’s so cute!”
“It looks like poison.” A man after your own heart.
“It looks great! Stop being a wet fish and drink it with me! Please? Pretty please? Pretty please with a cherry on top? Pretty please with a cherry on top and-”
“Fine! Oh my God, fine. You can have that, I’m not going to stop you.”
“And you’ll drink it with me?” Her smile is so bright it’s making you cast a grouchy shadow.
“...I- guess. Sure.”
Fef squeals, and it’s the delighted nail in Sollux’s coffin. Maybe you’ll see him in the emergency room later, and you can both share a knowing nod about the dangers of flashing cocktails served in pet housing.
Another sip confirms it still tastes like bubblegum.
Sollux manages to bargain his way into ordering the food before the fancy drinks, which is a valiant attempt at escaping the pink-tinted death you’re currently bearing half the brunt of. Maybe he hoped they’d forget or fill up and no longer brave the sugary terror, but his zero hour arrives and you shake your head sadly as you listen to the now fully identified Aradia order two fishbowl punches, and on purpose, which is a whole new level of shame.
The waiter asks her to repeat the order, to make absolutely sure of what she wants. You can’t imagine why.
He passes you shortly after with a tray laden with not one, but two bowls of fuschia piss, and you hear an enthusiastic thank you from Eridan and Feferi and flat ones from Sollux and Aradia, although in the latter case God only knows, that’s probably cheerful for her. You watch the waiter’s reflection turn back towards you in your own fishbowl of death, and as he hurries past you pause and wonder… Maybe if you just.
Your wife quietly enquires after what you’re doing as you reach and start slowly adjusting the bowl sideways.
Upgrading your radio to a television, you explain patiently.
You aren’t spying on anyone, are you? She told you to stop doing that.
It’s not spying if it’s in a public place, you told her that before.
And she told you that as soon as it involves a reflective surface, it’s spying.
You wore the eyepatch, you plead in a muted hiss.
Her fingers tap against the side of the glass and she inclines her hand, her other hand lifting to gently adjust her scarf. Alright, she agrees, and you continue moving the bowl until she adds an ominous but-
But what?
But she gets to take one of the pictures of you in that adorable outfit, blow it up nice and big, and make a painting out of it for her gallery.
Your eyes narrow. She drives a hard bargain.
You know what, maybe you can live without-
“What do you mean it’s stuck?”
On second thought, that sounds lovely, you hope it brings in lots of discerning patrons.
The bowl slides the rest of the way and you finally get a view past yourself, back to the table you’ve been entertaining yourself with on-and-off all night. It isn’t perfect, and you can only see the thick tresses of the two girls, but you have a fair angle on the faces of their dates as Eridan attempts to reach past Sollux’s swatting hands and grab the umbrella that is somehow jammed between his two front teeth.
“‘O! ‘Eth ‘ethethi oo ih-!” Those are probably words but between the teeth and the blockage you’ve stopped being able to pick out much more than what you’re guessing is Feferi, though you’re more amused by how the umbrella is wiggling every time Sollux’s mouth opens and closes. Sollux continues to force Eridan back, turning and leaning across the table. “‘Ethehti!”
“Oh gosh oh goodness-” Feferi is on her feet and leaning over the table, as though walking around it isn’t the option. She leans forward, over the bowl that caused this misery, planting a hand on Sollux’s cheek and bracing the other against the table that they’d been sitting at, one of two pushed together to make a four. Her fingers are spread just in front of the drink, the whole thing tipping forward under her weight. “Okay, I’ve got this! You just hold still and I’ll get this right out-”
“Wait-” Eridan starts but Feferi has got her hand off the table and on the umbrella, and you see her realise her mistake just as the umbrella pops free and takes her balance with it, feet sliding on the ground looking for a purchase they don’t find. She yelps and drops, Aradia moving to catch her but not before Feferi’s legs have flung up and kicked the table hard enough the whole unbalanced thing is flying forward and the bowl of pink murder juice is gracefully arcing up through the air.
Sollux had fallen back into Eridan’s arms and jerked back up just as fast but you know he’s regretting it as his eyes widen behind his glasses the smallest fraction before the wall of pink that’s spraying from the soaring bowl has splashed into him, splattering him and the floor behind him with the punch it also packs. You cover your mouth as Sollux opens his and lets out a pained sound, and Eridan swoops to grab some serviettes for his face but his foot hits the punch dripping onto the floor from the still shaking table and there’s an instant between him being there and him being gone, sneakers up in the air.
One knocks that table, and the punch starts to slide but Aradia catches it and lifts it above her head, sighing and handing it to a frantic Feferi as Sollux gropes blindly forward to try to find the serviettes now accompanying Eridan all over the ground. What he manages to find instead is the punch bowl, which he shoves his hand into just as it’s finished rattling around and then flings his fingers back out of in disgust, the bowl ricocheting away towards Feferi and ending up barely caught in her hand as she balances the first against her shoulder before- in an astounding show of idiocy- lifting her knee to try to steady the table she isn’t even standing in front of.
For a moment, she looks like she’ll pull it off.
She does not.
Aradia has just grabbed Sollux’s glasses and started wiping them as Feferi’s balance gives way for the second time, and you see the glass go sailing up before it comes hurtling down. Feferi barely manages to tuck and roll out of the way in time to avoid the glass or the fresh torrent of punch but her skillful youth roll takes her straight into the path of the waiter rushing to help, knocking him off his feet and sending him crashing down on her as his glasses bounce off in what promises to be a further level of hilarity.
“Fuck!” There he goes, scrambling for them, as Feferi squawks under him and Sollux finally regains vision in time to let out his assumed girlfriend’s name in indignation. The waiter gets shoved off, the dame rescued, and the glasses sit in pooling punch and await their retrieval with growing, sticky impatience.
Eridan’s hand has regained ground on the table, and Aradia is attempting to help him up but from the choked wheezes about fucking cape fucking stuck fucking hell you’re guessing he’s a little wrapped up with a fashion disaster that you’re sure is soaking up its lovely new pink ombre wonderfully as he wiggles around on the ground trying to escape his own poor taste.
Your missus moves and you think she’s going to call you off until you glance her way and see her leaning to see over your shoulder, eyes wide and lips pursed. Hah! Even she can’t fault quality entertainment like this, and you know this is the best date both of you have had in years, not including that one time in France with the accidental diamond heist. You grin at her and she rolls her eyes, but her cheeks are tinted darker as she looks back to the action and so do you.
Eridan is up, but the cape has become the second tragic casualty of the punch war after the waiter’s nose, going by the way the kid’s clutching at it and cursing up a storm with words you don’t even recognise. The cape collar, however, has remained as a delightful reminder of what was, turning Eridan into a smart casual dracula who is clinging to Aradia like she’s the only stable thing nearby- which honestly, yeah, you can believe it. She pats his back gently, before picking him up bodily and tossing him into a chair outside of the punch disaster zone, ignoring his confused wheeze as she hops over the table with perfect balance and sweeps the second pair of glasses she cleaned recently up off the ground to wipe them on her dirtied skirt before dropping them onto the chest of the bemused but thankful waiter.
Feferi is still a little unsteady and Sollux appears to be figuring out how to help while also not touching her in anyway lest he dirty her pink-splattered body with the punch that covers his own, but Aradia sweeps her up instead, up onto her arm as she thrusts the serviettes she collected during her sumersault at Sollux and then hooks her second arm under Feferi’s legs.
With that she walks over to the waiter, who has barely sat up and clearly isn’t expecting the looming figure of Aradia with all her curls cascading down her back and a fish-out-of-water hugging her tightly with legs dangling over her arms and punch dripping down the both of them.
He stares up at them both, full of the stupid kind of awe that only shows its face during spectacular shit like this, and then carefully unbuttons his apron and draws out a little notepad, with a little printed label stuck to it, which he offers up with a few dazed blinks.
“Cash or check?”
You’re going to die laughing if you start so you shut yourself up by shoving a straw in your mouth and slurping down glorious, wonderful, life-saving fishbowl punch with the sort of gusto that might get an umbrella stuck between a distracted idiot’s teeth.
Your wife joins you, your eyes meet, and she finally lets her face crack into the sort of gorgeous smile that reminds you why you married her.
You’ll have to come here again, she tells you. She’s a big fan of the drinks.
Yeah, you agree. Yeah.
Turns out, so are you.
