Anyway the Yusuke/Makoto friendship that exists in my brain is actually so important to me just because canon doesn't recognize their potential doesn't mean I have to ignore their matching mental illnesses
#it's about both of them wanting to be useful#it's about Yusuke having no idea how to live on his own because he was always reliant on Madarame whereas Makoto strives to be independent#it's about being the outsiders on the original team#it's about Yusuke being the one to say Makoto deserves to know what's going on in Kaneshiro's palace#it's about the fact that Yusuke is canonically also an honors student and they can understand the specific brand of smart kid dumbassery#that comes with being in the honor class#it's about both of them trying to follow in their parents footsteps#it's about how they're both bad at reading the room in different ways#it's about how she's the ice queen and he wields ice#it's about how both of them would do anything for their friends including crimes

You cradle your son, Killian, against your chest, his soft breath a soothing rhythm amidst the storm brewing in your heart. His dark hair is thick for one so young, a stark contrast to your own silver strands that cascade down like a river of moonlight, braided intricately yet now trembling at the edges as you shudder with grief. His violet eyesâyour eyesâpeek up at you in curiosity, innocent to the world that has been drenched in blood and betrayal. You wish you could preserve this innocence forever, shield him from the horrors beyond these stone walls, but you know all too well that the winds of war spare no one.
The letter lies crumpled beside you, the wax seal of the Three-Headed Dragon snapped in two. The words are still fresh, cutting through you like Valyrian steel, sharper than any sword you could ever wield. Your grandmotherâbrave, indomitable Rhaenysâis gone. The Queen Who Never Was met her end at Rookâs Rest, where she and Meleys faced the combined fury of Vhagar and Sunfyre. The account is almost too monstrous to believe: how Meleysâ head was severed and paraded as a trophy, how Aegon the Usurper was carried away like a broken thing, sealed in a crate to hide his mangled form. They say he is scarcely more than a corpse now, held together only by pride and the twisted whims of fate.
Your tears fall silently, trailing over Killianâs soft cheeks as he looks up at you, gurgling without a care in the world. He knows nothing of what has been lost, what will never be.
Suddenly, you feel Creganâs presence behind youâwarm and steady like the roots of an ancient tree. He kneels by your side, his grey eyes searching yours with concern. His large, calloused hand rests gently on your back, grounding you in the present. âY/N,â he murmurs, voice soft as the snow falling outside. âI heard. The raven...â
You canât find the strength to speak, so you only nod. He understands without needing further words; he always has. The Lord of Winterfell was never meant for courtly games or gilded halls, but here in the cold North, his honesty and strength have become your rock amidst all the chaos. Yet even his unwavering strength canât shield you from this hurt.
âI thought dragons were⊠unkillable,â Cregan says after a pause, his voice rough with both sorrow and disbelief. âThe stuff of legends, creatures older than men, forged in fire. I thought they were eternal.â
You blink away the tears that threaten to blind you and force yourself to meet his gaze. There is no room for illusions, not in this world where even gods bleed. âAnything can be killed, Cregan,â you whisper, voice trembling yet laced with a fierce conviction. âEven the gods. Even kings and Kingmakers alike.â The venom laced in the last words is unmistakable. Ser Criston Cole, the leech in royal armor, the wretched man who enabled this war to take root with his false oaths and blackened soulâhow you despise him. The thought of him twisting the fate of nations with his cruelty makes bile rise in your throat
Creganâs brow furrows as he takes in your words. He knows of your distaste for Cole, for all those who put ambition over loyalty, who would see the world burn if only to rule over the ashes. He moves closer, wrapping a protective arm around you and Killian. âYouâre right,â he says quietly, his voice a deep rumble, âbut weâre still here, and weâll fight back for those weâve lost. For those who remain.â
Killian shifts in your arms, cooing softly, as if sensing the turmoil in your heart. You lean into Creganâs warmth, letting yourself take solace in the strength he offers. âRhaenys was always so brave,â you murmur, your voice breaking slightly. âShe defied them all her life, never once bending to their will. They feared her because she was a woman who would not be cowed, and now⊠they parade her death like some kind of victory.â
âThey can parade all they like,â Cregan says, his voice turning steely, âbut a victory built on treachery and murder will crumble. Aegonâs body may still cling to life, but his cause is already rotting from within. The realm will see it.â
His words, though meant to comfort, bring little ease. The war rages on, and with it, the losses mount like a tolling bell. Your heart aches, both for those who have fallen and for those who must still face what lies ahead. Yet, as you look down at Killian, you feel a flicker of hope amidst the darkness. He is a symbol of all you fight forâa future not bound by the horrors of the past, but shaped by those who endure.
âThraxata will know,â you murmur, more to yourself than to Cregan, your thoughts turning to your own dragon, the Midnight Fury. âShe will mourn with me.â
Cregan tightens his grip around you, his chin resting on the top of your head. âAnd when the time comes, sheâll fight with you too, alongside us all. This isnât over, Y/N. We have something theyâll never understandâa love forged in fire and ice, bound by loyalty.â
You close your eyes and let yourself be held, the flicker of strength in your chest rekindling. The tears still fall, but now, with every drop, there is something else tooâa growing resolve. Rhaenysâ death will not be in vain. The world will hear the roar of her legacy through you, through your son, and through every soul that refuses to bow to the false kings who sit on thrones built on blood.
For now, you hold your family close, taking what comfort you can in the warmth of Creganâs embrace, in the small heartbeat thrumming steadily against your chest. The autumn winds howl outside, but here, amidst stone and fur, there is still love, still life. The storm may rage, but you will not break.
Not yet.
The weirwood stands tall and ancient, its pale bark almost glowing in the dim twilight. The blood-red leaves flutter softly in the breeze, a stark contrast against the gray skies overhead. You feel small before it, like a child gazing up at something vast and unfathomable. The face carved into the heart treeâs trunk stares down at you with those deep, knowing eyes, as if it sees not just you, but every thought, every secret tucked away in the recesses of your soul.
Youâve been standing here longer than you intended, lost in the quiet of this sacred place. Yet, beneath the peace, thereâs an unease gnawing at you. The chill of autumn clings to your skin, sharper now, more present. It crawls into your bones, but you canât bring yourself to move. Youâre here, but not trulyâyour thoughts scattered like leaves on the wind.
For a moment, everything sharpens. You feel the press of the cold more keenly now, and your breath curls in the air like faint wisps of smoke. Then, the world begins to shift. The rustle of the leaves grows distant, muffled, until itâs almost drowned out by something elseâa whisper thatâs barely more than a breath, carried on the wind. You stiffen, your heart quickening. Itâs a voice, faint yet clear as the first crack of ice on a frozen lake.
Y/N.
It speaks your name, though you cannot tell whether itâs a manâs voice or a womanâs. It sounds old, ageless even, and it seems to echo within your mind as much as in the air around you. A rush of images floods your visionâflashes of faces, places, events yet to come or perhaps already past. You see fire and blood, wings spreading wide against a burning sky. Thereâs the glint of steel, a flash of a crownâsomeone crying out, their voice lost in a roar of flames.Â
Then, as suddenly as it came, the frenzy halts. You stagger back a step, your surroundings snapping back into focus, the world real again. But the cold clings to you, more than it did before. The weirwood watches you, its eyes holding secrets it will never share. You swallow, trying to steady your breath, your heart pounding loud enough to drown out all else.
âY/N!â A familiar voice cuts through the fog of your thoughts, pulling you back fully to the present.
You turn, dazed, and see Cregan striding toward you, his expression tense with concern. Behind him is Maester Kennet, his gray robes fluttering as he hurries to keep pace. Creganâs eyes are locked on you, his brows drawn together, the worry evident in his every movement. âWhatâs wrong? Youâve been out here too longâitâs freezing.â His tone is gentle, but thereâs an edge to it, the underlying fear for your well-being.
You blink, still feeling the lingering echoes of the vision, the remnants of those hurried images flickering in your mindâs eye. âI⊠Iâm fine,â you say, but your voice is shakier than you intend, betraying the truth of your unease.
Cregan stops in front of you, reaching out to cup your cheek with one roughened hand, his thumb brushing against your cold skin. âYou donât look fine, love,â he murmurs, eyes searching yours as if trying to find the cause of whatever has you so shaken. âWhat happened?â
âIâm not sure,â you admit, closing your eyes briefly as you lean into his touch. âThe weirwood⊠I thought I heard something. Saw something.â
Maester Kennet approaches cautiously, his gaze darting between you and the heart tree. âThe Old Gods have their ways of sending messages, Lady Y/N,â he says softly. âThe weirwoods are their eyes, their ears. It is not unheard of for them to reach out to those who carry their favor.âÂ
Cregan frowns at that, his grip on you tightening protectively. âSheâs been out here too long, alone,â he says, not taking his eyes off you. âWhatever she saw or heard can wait until sheâs had some rest.â
But Maester Kennet shakes his head, his face grim as he pulls a folded letter from his robes. âI wouldnât have interrupted if it werenât important. A raven came not long agoâfrom the Twins. Your brother, Jacaerys, has secured passage for his forces. Heâs on his way to meet you, Lady Y/N.â
The words bring a sudden, fierce surge of emotionârelief mixed with dread. Jacaerys is alive, fighting as he always promised he would. Yet with every victory comes new dangers, new battles. And the visions, whatever they meant, linger in your mind like a shadow cast over the joy of the news.
Cregan, ever perceptive, sees the conflict in your eyes and places a reassuring hand on your shoulder. âWeâll face whatever comes,â he promises, his voice a low rumble, the kind that always makes you feel like youâre standing on solid ground, even when the world tilts.
You manage a small smile, nodding. âYesâŠâ
But as you glance back at the weirwood, its face still and expressionless, you canât shake the feeling that the Old Gods are watching more keenly than ever. The autumn winds whisper secrets youâre not sure you want to hear, and deep in your heart, you sense that whatever lies ahead, the choices you make will ripple far beyond the snow-covered hills of the North.
With a deep breath, you turn away from the tree, allowing Creganâs steady presence to guide you back toward Winterfell, leaving the whispers of the gods behindâfor now.
The winds bite sharper today, swirling through the bare branches of the godswood and over the snow-covered battlements of Winterfell. You stand beside Cregan at the edge of the courtyard, your cloak pulled tight against the chill. Thraxata looms behind you, her obsidian scales gleaming in the pale winter light. The Midnight Furyâs violet eyes are fixed on the skies above, where your brother is soon to arrive. The air hums with anticipation, the kind that makes your heart race and your fingers twitch. Beside you, Cregan rests a hand on the pommel of his sword, his gaze as steady as the stone walls that surround you.
âAre you ready?â Creganâs voice is low, warm like a hearth fire, grounding you in the present moment.
You nod, though the tension in your chest remains. âI havenât seen Jacaerys in so long. I only hope heâs as safe as his letter claimed.â
Cregan squeezes your hand, a brief but reassuring gesture. âIf heâs anything like you, heâll be stronger than ever.â
You smile at his words, but the edge of worry still lingers. War changes people, molds them into something elseâsometimes into something harder, colder. Youâve seen it already in the eyes of the soldiers who have passed through Winterfell, men whose laughter now rings hollow, whose smiles are mere shadows. What has the war made of your brother?
Before your thoughts can spiral further, the distant roar of a dragon echoes through the sky, accompanied by the deep flap of massive wings. All eyes turn upward, and thereâemerging from the rolling cloudsâis Vermax. His green and bronze scales shimmer with an ethereal glow against the muted grays of the northern sky, his wings outstretched as he circles lower. Your heart lifts at the sight, despite everything.
Thraxata rumbles low in her throat, a sound thatâs half-greeting, half-challenge. She shifts, restless, her powerful tail sweeping across the ground and leaving deep grooves in the snow. You place a calming hand on her side, feeling the heat radiating from her scales, even in the biting cold. âEasy, girl,â you murmur, though a part of you understands her unease. The bond between dragon and rider is one forged in fire and instinctâThraxata senses your tension as clearly as you do.
Vermax lands with a powerful thud in the courtyard, snow scattering like dust beneath his claws. Jacaerys dismounts swiftly, his dark curls wild from the wind, his face shadowed with exhaustion and resolve. His eyesâdark brownâsearch the crowd until they find you. Despite the grimness that hangs about him, a grin breaks across his face.
âY/N!â His voice is hoarse, but filled with unmistakable affection.
You rush forward, closing the distance between you, and throw your arms around him. For a moment, youâre children again, finding comfort in each other amidst the storms that have always threatened to tear your family apart. But the moment is brief, tinged with the weight of all that has passed. When you pull back, you can see the subtle changes in himâthe deeper lines etched into his face, the hardened edge in his gaze.
âBrother,â you breathe, cupping his face, your thumb brushing against the scar just above his browâa mark of a recent battle, no doubt. âYouâve grown into a man of war.â
Jacaerys huffs a quiet laugh, though it lacks the lightness it once held. âIt seems the war gives us little choice in what we become.â His gaze flickers over your shoulder, landing on Cregan. âLord Stark,â he greets formally, though the respect in his tone is genuine. âYour hospitality has been unmatched. Itâs a comfort to know my sister has found such a strong allyâand husband.â
Cregan inclines his head, his usual sternness softened slightly by a hint of warmth. âYour family is ours now, Jacaerys. Winterfell stands with you, as do the men of the North. We fight together.â
The words, though simple, carry a promise, one that Jacaerys seems to take solace in. He nods, a flicker of relief crossing his features before his expression grows serious once more. âThe Twins have bent the knee. Their armies are ready to march when we give the word. The Riverlands will rally to our cause, though theyâve suffered much at the hands of the greens.â
You clench your fists at your sides, feeling the familiar fire of rage ignite in your belly at the thought of those who serve the usurper, those whoâve turned against your mother, against your family. âWeâll make them pay for every drop of blood spilled,â you vow, your voice cold with determination. âTheyâll learn the price of treachery when fire and blood rain upon them.â
Jacaerysâ gaze meets yours, a shared understanding passing between you. âWe will, sister,â he says quietly. âBut we must be wise in how we strike. Our enemies are many, and some hide in shadows even we havenât uncovered.â
As he speaks, the men of Winterfell gather closer, eager to hear news from the South. Thraxata moves to stand beside Vermax, her violet eyes fixed on him, a low rumble vibrating through her chest. Vermax, ever the more temperate of the two, remains still, watching her with a calm curiosity. The two dragons are like night and day, one fierce and unpredictable, the other steady and patientâa reflection of the bond shared between their riders.
Maester Kennet steps forward from the crowd, ever the dutiful servant, and bows his head. âMy lord, my lady,â he addresses you both, âthe men are ready to host your brother and his retinue. Supplies are being gathered for the march south, but it would do you both good to rest and break bread together before the night grows colder.â
Cregan nods, though his gaze remains fixed on Jacaerys. âYouâve traveled far, and winterâs grip grows tighter by the day. Weâll speak of war and plans soon enough. Tonight, we celebrate family.â
Jacaerys glances at you, his eyes softening briefly before he returns his attention to Cregan. âIâd welcome that. Itâs been too long since Iâve felt the warmth of kin.â He turns to you once more, taking your hand and squeezing it. âMother would want us to stand strong, Y/N. For her, for all of us.â
You swallow back the knot in your throat, nodding. âWe will, Jace. We will.â
As you walk back toward the Great Hall, arm in arm with your brother and Cregan beside you, the dragons shift close behind ready to take flight, their steps heavy on the snow-covered earth. Above, the first stars begin to pierce the twilight sky, cold and distant. You can still feel the echoes of the weirwoodâs whispers, the glimpses of futures yet unwritten. But here, with your family by your side, you draw strength from the bonds that even war cannot break.
The Great Hall of Winterfell is alive with the low murmur of voices and the crackle of hearth fires. The long table is crowded with Stark bannermen, their weathered faces drawn with the seriousness of the discussion. The banners of the North hang proudly on the wallsâgray direwolves on fields of white and gray. The smell of pinewood smoke and spiced wine fills the air, mingling with the scent of roasted meats brought out for the evening. It is a scene both warm and solemn, a brief moment of respite before the weight of strategy drags everyone back into the cold reality of war.
You sit beside Cregan at the head of the table, your hand resting on his arm as Jacaerys stands before the gathered lords. He wears his determination like armor, though there is a heaviness in his eyes that no amount of resolve can mask. His voice, strong despite the weariness clinging to him, rings out over the hall.
âOur enemies have grown bolder since my brotherâs and grandmother's murders. Aemond has broken the oldest of lawsâheâs a kinslayer, and for that, heâs forfeited not only his honor but any right to mercy. The greens think the deaths of Luke and Rhaenys will weaken us, make us retreat into mourning. Theyâre wrong.â His words are met with murmurs of agreement, grim nods from the assembled bannermen.
Lord Cregan speaks next, his voice deep and measured. âJustice for Prince Lucerys and Princess Rhaenys will be served, Jacaerys, but the North is not free of its own burdens. The men and Houses we pledged to your cause will march with you as promisedâgreybeards and veterans who have survived more winters than most. But the majority of our forces must remain here, at least until the winds shift and winterâs bite eases.â
A rumble of assent follows Creganâs words. The greybeards, some of whom are gathered here tonight, nod their heads, weathered faces set in stony determination. These are men whoâve lived through harsh winters, wars, and endless trials. They know the cost of every step taken southward, but they also understand the weight of their oaths.
You lean forward, feeling the cold steel of duty and sorrow twisting within you. âThe Wall grows restless,â you add, your voice quieter but cutting through the room. âReports from our scouts say the wildlings stir, and there are whispers of darker things in the woods. The North cannot abandon its duties here, not entirely, not with winter closing in. We fight on two frontsâone for vengeance, and one to hold back the darkness that always comes with the cold.â
Jacaerysâ jaw tightens, though thereâs no anger in his gaze, only acceptance. âI know what I ask of you, of the North. I wouldnât pull you from your duties lightly. But weâre in desperate need of men whoâve seen true battleâmen who wonât falter when the greens come for us again.â He looks around the table, locking eyes with each of the bannermen. âAemondâs murders of Luke and Rhaenys aren't just an insult to my family, itâs a warning of whatâs to come. Theyâll strike at us all, one by one, until thereâs nothing left to fight for.â
Maester Kennet, seated near the fire, clears his throat, his thin fingers wrapped around a goblet. âA measured approach is wise. The North is vast, and winter makes even the shortest march an ordeal. Splitting our forces to both hold the Wall and reinforce the Riverlands is a sound strategy. But we cannot be reckless. The cold is our greatest enemyâaside from the greens themselves.â
A grizzled voice interrupts, belonging to Lord Harwood Flint. âWeâve sworn our oaths to your mother, Prince Jacaerys, and those oaths stand. The greybeards and I will march south, aye, but only as far as the weather allows. If winter deepens, weâll be forced to retreatâlest we lose more men to frost than to battle.â
Lord Cregan nods solemnly. âThe North keeps its promises, Jace, but our duty here is unbreakable. If winter passes, weâll ride in full force, dragons and all. Until then, youâll have what men we can spare, the strongest and the most experienced. The rest must remain to guard our lands and prepare for whatever winter may bring.â
You watch Jacaerys as he absorbs their words, weighing them against the urgency of his mission. Itâs a hard truth, but one heâs known in his heart. âI understand,â he finally says, though the strain in his voice is evident. âThe North has always held its ground when others falter. Your menâs presence in the Riverlands will tip the scales more than you know. Weâll make every sacrifice count, for all of our sakes.â
A silence falls over the hall, filled only by the crackling of the fires and the occasional clink of cups against wood. Itâs a heavy silence, the kind that carries the weight of lives yet to be lost, battles yet to be fought. You feel the tension in your own shoulders, the mix of sorrow and determination that has become all too familiar.
Creganâs voice breaks the silence, firm and resolute. âThen itâs settled. The North will march with you, Jacaerys, and weâll hold the line here until the time is right to unleash the full might of Winterfell. The Wall must remain guarded, our lands defended. But rest assuredâthe North remembers, and we will have vengeance for both Lucerys and Rhaenys.â
Jacaerys meets his gaze with a nod of gratitude, his eyes glistening with something more than just determinationâhope, perhaps, or at least the stubborn refusal to let despair take root. âThank you, Cregan. Thank you all. My mother will hear of your loyalty, and when the time comes, Iâll see that those whoâve wronged us pay with fire and blood.â
You reach out, placing a hand on Jacaerysâ arm, drawing his attention back to you. âWeâll see this through together, Jace,â you say softly, yet with unshakable conviction. âFor Luke. For our family.â
His lips press into a tight line, but he nods, and in that moment, you see the boy you once knew, the one who would always protect his siblings, no matter the cost. War has hardened him, yes, but it hasnât broken his spirit. And for that, youâre grateful.
The meeting ends with agreements made, plans solidified. As the lords begin to rise and drift away, you, Cregan, and Jacaerys remain, sharing a moment of quiet amidst the chaos. Thraxata and Vermax can be heard outside, their low growls a reminder that no matter how heavy the burden, you are not alone in this fight.
You glance at Cregan, who offers you a small, reassuring smile, and then at Jacaerys, whose eyes hold the same fire that burns within you. The North may be bound by its duties to the Wall, but when the time comes, it will roar in unison, and the South will tremble beneath the weight of vengeance and justice.
Until then, you steel yourself for the battles to come, knowing that winter is both your enemy and your greatest ally. The North will remember, and so will the world.
The chambers are dimly lit, the glow of the hearth casting flickering shadows across the stone walls. The scent of pine and smoke lingers in the air, mingling with the faint hint of sage and lavender from the herbs hung above the door. Outside, the cold wind howls, but in here, the warmth is groundingâa cocoon that holds only the two of you.
You stand before the fire, watching the flames dance, lost in the flicker of embers. Thoughts of the dayâs discussions linger in your mind, heavy like the weight of armor. Youâre still processing the event, the decisions, and the weight of whatâs to come. But for now, those thoughts seem distant as you feel Creganâs presence behind you. His steps are soft as he approaches, yet you can sense the strength in each movement. When he wraps his arms around you from behind, drawing you into his chest, you let out a breath you didnât realize you were holding.
âY/N,â he murmurs into your hair, his voice a deep rumble. Thereâs a tenderness there that youâve come to cherishâan intimacy that only grows with each passing day. You lean back into him, feeling his warmth seep into your skin, grounding you in this moment, away from the burden of duty and war.
His hands slide over your waist, tracing the curves of your body with a reverence that never fades, no matter how many times heâs touched you this way. âYouâre troubled,â he says softly, pressing a kiss to the side of your neck. Itâs not a question; he knows you too well.
You close your eyes, allowing yourself to melt into his embrace. âIâve been thinking⊠about everything. About Jace, the war, what lies ahead. But mostly⊠about what I felt in the godswood.â
Creganâs hands still for a moment, his grip tightening just slightly. He turns you gently to face him, his eyes searching yours, concern and affection mingling in his gaze. âYou saw something, didnât you?â he asks quietly.
You nod, reaching up to cup his face, your fingers tracing the line of his jaw, roughened by stubble. âI did, but I donât want to think about it right now,â you whisper, letting your thumb brush over his lips. âRight now, I just want to feel alive. I want to feel us.â
Something shifts in his gaze, the concern giving way to something deeper, more primal. His hand moves to cradle the back of your neck, drawing you closer, and when his lips finally meet yours, itâs with a passion that sends a surge of heat through you. The kiss is slow at first, a tender exploration, but it quickly deepens, becoming something more urgent, more consuming.
You thread your fingers through his hair, tugging slightly as you press closer, your bodies molding together as if trying to erase any distance between you. His hands roam over you, rough and strong, yet every touch is filled with affection. Itâs a contrast that youâve always found intoxicatingâthe fierce warrior and the gentle lover, both sides of him intertwined in every caress.
Creganâs mouth trails down your neck, leaving a line of burning kisses along your skin. âY/N,â he growls against your throat, his voice thick with desire. âYouâre mine.â
You shiver at the possessiveness in his tone, the words igniting something deep within you. âYours,â you breathe, tugging at his tunic, eager to feel the heat of his skin against yours.
Clothes fall away with hurried hands, the cold air biting at your exposed skin for only a moment before the warmth of Creganâs body presses against you. You pull him with you, leading him to the bed, his eyes never leaving yours as he lays you down then, his weight a comforting pressure above you.
The passion between you ignites like wildfire. His hands grip your hips as he enters you, and you gasp, arching into him as he moves with a rhythm that feels like a dance, one youâve perfected together over countless nights. Every thrust is filled with a mixture of desire and love, each one drawing you closer to the edge, making the world beyond these walls fade away until thereâs only himâonly you.
Your hands roam over his back, nails digging in as the pleasure builds, each moan, each whispered word of affection driving you both higher. Thereâs a desperation in the way you cling to each other, as if the passion is the only thing anchoring you both in a world that threatens to tear everything apart.
âCregan,â you gasp, his name a prayer on your lips as you reach that peak together, the intensity of the moment overwhelming. He groans your name, his voice rough and breathless as he collapses against you, burying his face in your neck, holding you as if heâll never let go.
For a long while, neither of you speaks, content to simply breathe together, hearts pounding in unison. The room is warm, the glow of the fire casting soft light over your tangled limbs. Creganâs hand strokes your hair absently, his fingers combing through the silver strands as you lay nestled against him.
But eventually, the silence gives way to the thoughts that have been haunting you. You shift slightly, turning to look up at him. His eyes are closed, a peaceful expression on his face, but you know heâs awake, lost in his own thoughts.
âCregan,â you say softly, drawing his attention. His eyes open, meeting yours, and the concern returns as he sees the seriousness in your expression.
âWhat did you see, love?â he asks, his voice gentle, though the tension in his jaw betrays his worry.
You take a breath, recalling the frenzied images that had flashed before you in the godswood, the voice that had called your name. âIt was like a storm in my mind,â you begin, your voice barely above a whisper. âI heard my nameâfelt something pulling at me. And then⊠I saw flashes of fire, blood, wings beating against a sky that burned. There was steel, a crown, and screams lost in the roar of flames. It was so vivid, so real, but I couldnât make sense of it. And then it was gone, as quickly as it came.â
Cregan listens, his brow furrowed as he considers your words. âThe Old Gods speak in riddles and symbols,â he says quietly. âIâve heard tales of their whispers, of visions granted to those who stand before the weirwoods. But theyâve never been clearâthey show what might be, not what is certain.â
You nod, but the unease still lingers. âIt felt like a warning, Cregan. Like something terrible is coming, something weâre not prepared for.â
He tightens his hold on you, pressing a kiss to your forehead. âWhatever it is, weâll face it together. Youâre not alone in this. The North is with you, Iâm with you, and weâll do everything in our power to protect what we hold dear.â
You close your eyes, letting his words soothe some of the anxiety that gnaws at you. âI know. But thereâs so much at stake⊠and so many unknowns. I canât shake the feeling that the gods are watching, waiting to see what choices weâll make.â

Submitted Prompts #99
Jazz went to Gotham to finish her degree away from her parents, as their obsession with Ghosts started becoming dangerous to everyone. So, of course, she brought Danny with her, so he's also far away from them and the GIW.
Danny held out a whole year without going out on patrol, just establishing his haunt in the new city. Lady Gotham was very happy to be able to show them to their new place, almost giddy that the little King and his Queen Mother have come to live in her beloved city.
Of course, the first time Phantom floats out of his window and into the night, he has a new suit, made of padded black leather, and a fluffy white cape with a hood (imagine the Lightkin Cloak from Destiny2, but snow white, rather than black and grey), along with a facemask engraved with a fanged design. New haunt, new look, and the new look fit right in with the viciousness of Gotham City.
And, as luck would have it, his first Gotham Rogue was Poison Ivy. Thinking back to his fight against Undergrowth, Pantom opened with his ice, forming a double-sided axe to better cleave her vines apart, and locking Ivy herself down with ice.
To further distance himself from his identity as Phantom, in case the GIW somehow became smart at some point, instead of blasting ice like most ghosts fire ectoblasts, Danny asked Pandora for lessons on fighting with weapons, and Frosbite taught his how to channel his element as an aura, or a freezing breath. He even sat down to listen to Nocturne speak as they wove spells and ectoplasm, and the Personification of Dreams softly taught him how to use his powers through objects acting as catalysts, or as manifestations of his will, rather than throwing his affinities around by brute force.
With his new abilities and look, rather than fight like a feral raccoon, Danny took to fighting more like a spellblade, slinging around ice shard and spells to enhance his physical strikes, controlling the pace of a fight to get the upper hand on his enemies.
Suffice to say, Poison Ivy hadn't expected the Avatar of Icy Vengeance to lock her in a pillar of ice up to her neck while her vines withered into frosty sculptures.
Gotham's newest hero got awarded a new name by the news the next day: Ymir, Frozen Progenitor.
Danny thinks it's too pretentious for a random ghost, or random halfa, like him. Joke's on him, the perception of Gotham's people slowly starts empowering him, slowly enough that the only reason he notices his oncoming Ascension to myth as a Protector Spirit is when a terrified kid begs for his help, and he hears them loud and clear out of nowhere.
The Bats are confused by this Entity. Constantine stepped one foot in Gotham, felt it's cleaner air, the sharp bite of ice in his nose and lungs, and the overwhelming pressure of the new Godling training under Gotham herself to control his new powers, and ran out screaming about not getting paid enough to deal with divine beings. Zatanna is trying to contact Ymir to ask them to join the Justice League Dark.
Jason is vibing with the tall redhead Amazon he's met at Babs' library, and her feral little brother who cured his Pit Rage by biting his arm when they first met. One time Jason is in a pinch after a stakeout gone wrong, Bellona (Ancient Roman Goddess of War) takes the fight to his captors to free him, dressed in golden armor and wielding a spear Pandora and Firght Knight made for her. Nocturne and her brother worked together to imbue a spell into her back to give her wings she can use to fly or fight with. The fact it left a badass tattoo on her back, is just another way Jazz rebels against her parents. It also has Jason weak in the knees when he first sees it.

And weâre back folks! With another batch of rough fan art featuring Queen Anna and powerless Elsa this time.
For this design for Anna, I noticed another post that some people didnât feel that her regal gown from the epilogue in Frozen 2 really fit her style, so I tried to emulate the colors and rosemaling from her coronation dress in the first movie, while also keeping a sense of maturity in this look having grown into this role. Sheâs not as impulsive or fiesty anymore, now tempered with responsibilities but still conveys her warmth and compassion as a competent ruler. Still, in comparison with her sister, she is not without her insecurities, as running a country doesnât come without a fair amount of stress, which she hides from Elsa out of fear of not being good enough.
Now as for Elsa losing her powers, Iâm sure a lot of people have hypothesized about if she had an adversesary that could wield fire powers. I have made concept art of that before in the past, but I want to try and draw that digitally first before I show you guys. In this instance, I would imagine that Elsa has faced off against this adversary, and lost, and that enemy has weakened her powers to a state where she is unable to manipulate snow and ice and thus it dramatically alters her appearance. Her hair turns brown, like her motherâs, the clothes that she fashioned for herself would lose their icy appearance and revert to normal civilian clothes (or at worst, disappear, making for an awkward scenario), and the loss makes her weak and sick. She would have to learn how to rehabilitate herself for the next round in the story, but this change would almost certainly traumatize her since sheâs just learned how to accept herself and her powers.
Lastly, with my idea for Hans to return in this story, I canât imagine that Anna would be all that enthusiastic about seeing him again. My idea is that he has some insider information about the adversary that theyâre facing in the story, whether it be the Southern Isles, or this fire wielding villain that Elsa loses against, they somehow have to rely on him for assistance. His motivations could be entirely selfish, âmerely an enemy of my enemy is my friend situationâ and he only agrees to help to stick it to this adversary (probably the Southern Isles). Nonetheless, it would make for some interesting dialogue and dynamics to see how they would react to each other.
Now, like I said, this is all hypothetical. This is more fanfiction and fanart than anything else, you donât have to agree with it, but this is just a fun exercise in thinking what could happen in the next two movies. I hope you enjoy what Iâve done. Kristoff is coming up next!

My Chemical Marriage
The chemical wedding is an allegory used in alchemical writings to refer to the union of opposites, particularly a union that produces a new and improved product, the Rebis.Â
One popular version of the allegorical wedding takes place between the Red King, the active principle (sulfur) that shapes the material and passive principle of the White Queen (mercury). However, this allegory can refer to the union of sun and moon, silver and gold, or even body and spirit.Â
The Rebis refers to the end product of the magnum opus, and is typically depicted as a hermaphrodite.
The child of the chemical marriage is sometimes called the philosopherâs child and fun fact, is associated with the myth of Orion and his three fathers (Jupiter, Mercury, and Neptune). The myth is very different but I canât help but think of the Simurgh.Â
Though the chemical marriage allegory is very much referring to marriage and procreation, etc, in the context of Genshin, itâs used more to refer to a union of opposites, or a collaboration between two types of being, which will be elaborated on later. Of the four examples I will be going through, only two of these relationships have any kind of (canon) romantic associations attached to them. Basically what iâm trying to say is that this is definitely not about ships please donât eat me.
Itâs a well established trend in the history of Teyvat that there have been many god-king-like beings associated with gold or the sun, who had some kind of relationship with a knowledgeable and moon-associated woman, who then dies tragically during the god-kingâs quest to Change The World.Â
And now, in thematic order, I present the doomed pairings:Â
Imunlaukr and the princess of Sal Vindagnyr
Imunlaukr is an outlander, destined to wield the Snow Tombed Starsilver sword to âshatter ice and snow.â The wiki cites a stanza where this name is used as a kenning for a sword. Imunlaukr tried to save Sal Vind from the catastrophic ice and snow caused by the Skyfrost Nail hitting an Irminsul tree, but he failed. Sal Vind had a princess who was also the daughter of the priestess of Vindagnyr, and was âborn beneath this white treeâ (Frostbearer). She is described as being âbright as the moonlight,â and had the gift of prophecy, painting her visions as frescos on the walls of the city - you can see them in the room where you find the Starsilver sword. Â
Guizhong and Zhongli
According to the Stone Tablet Compilations: Vol. I, Rex Lapis descended to Liyue. This isnât the same descending as Descenders, and it has been argued that a better translation would be âdemoted,â but this has similarities to the way Deshret and Remus are described as founding their kingdoms. Rex Lapis is also called Deus Auri, the Golden God, and in the Dialogue of the Desert Sages description, it says that âtransformation into gold and Mora is the sole province of Deus Auri.â Guizhongâs moon connection is on the weaker end, but she is strongly associated with glaze lilies, a flower that only blooms at night, like the Nilotpala, or Lunar, lotuses. She gave Zhongli a stone dumbbell, the Memory of Dust, which contains her âwisdom.â Zhongli is still unable to unlock it, and before Guizhongâs death, she told him to forget about its contents. On a more superficial note, Zhongli and Guizhong have a color scheme that will also be part of the pattern discussed here- black and gold and blue and white.
Remus and Sybilla
Sybilla was the former âenvoy that protected the silver tree,â but she had lost her âmind and form.â However, she still retained her gift of prophecy, and told Remus about his destiny to found Remuria (and its inevitable downfall). Sybilaâs loss of her physical form and mind is reminiscent of the Aranara stories about how Seelies were cursed to lose their body and intelligence if they fell in love with a human.
After making an arrangement with Remus, the silver tree that Sybilla was protecting transformed into a golden ship, which according to The History of the Decline and Fall of Remuria , was called Fortuna, and with it, Remus âdescendedâ onto Meropis. Together with Sybilla, Remus created Phobos, the Great/Golden Symphony. Phobos is the name of one of the moons of Mars, the red planet. Combined with the Primordial Sea-derived ichor, it would allow his people to shed their physical forms and transcend their prophesied doom. Sybilla even sacrificed her life to make the symphony possible, but she wasnât completely dead in the end, and her lack of âpersonaâ led to the Symphony going awry.Â
And MOST IMPORTANTLY, the Golden Troupe of Remuria used a magical technique Rene called the âseal of chymical marriage,â and which I think was used to seal the Primordial Sea. Rene would later attempt to reverse its power to Evangelion-ify the people of Fontaine.
We donât know what Remus or Sybilla actually looked like, but the color scheme of both the Remuria based artifact sets are white/blue/gold and black/blue/gold.Â
Decarabian and Amos
Decarabian was the god-king and founder of Mondstadt approximately 2600 years ago. He created a wind barrier to protect his people from the storms outside (and from Andrius), and in an effort to keep his people safe, micromanaged their lives, even banning certain kinds of music that could incite rebellion (Song of Broken Pines). Interestingly, his goal to protect his people is described as a âdreamâ multiple times in item descriptions. The Scattered Piece of Decarabian's Dream: He tried so hard to make his dream come true, and so the fragments of that dream are still mighty.
Fragment of Decarabianâs Epic: If it were not for the song of freedom that shattered the city in an instant, Decarabian's dream would have gone on forever. I wonder if this is meant to be another incidence of the literal power of music, like Remusâs symphony, or the Source Song. |Decarabian had a human lover named Amos, although from her perspective, he did not understand her or her mortal love, or even the (lack of) devotion of his people. This reminds me of Scylla telling Remus that as a Usurper, he is cursed to love humanity. But maybe not understand them, which would be both of these god-kingsâ downfalls. Though Amos was human, she also seems to have had prophetic dreams: "I dreamt of ocean waves and sand, of lush forests and land." "I dreamt of boars playing in berry bushes, of a towering spire." These words she spoke to the God King in a soft tone, but they were left unheard. (Amosâ Bow) Eventually, she would join the rebellion against him, and attempt to assassinate him. Amos also fits into the blue and white color scheme, and has a feather ornament similar to Lumine in her hair:Â
And we come to the piece de resistance. The ultimate example. One of the weirdest things in genshin lore (in a good way). I present:
Whatever TF is Going on With Deshret and the Goddess of Flowers
In The Lay of Al-Ahmar, Deshret is described as a âson of the sky,â with abilities that earned him the reverence of the tribes in the desert. One of his titles, Al-Ahmar, is Arabic for âthe red one.â Deshret dreamed of creating a utopia for humans, and the final manifestation of that dream was the (failed) Golden Slumber, where like Remus, he attempted to separate his mind from his body. God-kings and their hivemindsâŠ. Deshret received assistance in the form of access to forbidden knowledge from the Goddess of Flowers, also known as Nabu Malikata. The title Nabu refers to the Babylonian god of wisdom, who is associated with the planet Mercury in Babylonian astronomy. The title âNabuâ has the same linguistic root as the Arabic ânabiyyâ (ÙŰšÙ) and Hebrew ânaviâ (Ś ŚŚŚ), meaning prophet. According to Arama, the Goddess of Flowers was a survivor of the Seelie race. After her exile, she wandered the desert, where her blood turned into streams of water that allowed gardens of water lilies to grow, which in turn birthed the Jinn. Additionally, wherever she stepped, purple flowers called Padisarahs, described as âbearing semblance to the moon,â bloomed (Flower of Paradise Lost). Together with Deshret, she founded Ay-Khanoum, meaning "[City of the] Moon Maiden.â In addition to being known as âthe red one,â Deshret is also known as the âLord of Sand.â Combined with the Goddess of Flowers association with both water and mercury, I consider their respective titles to be a reference to Ibn Umaylâs Silvery Water and Starry Earth, a 10th century alchemical text. The âsilvery waterâ refers to mercury, or quicksilver, and the âstarry earthâ is sulfur. This text is also referenced in the refinement materials for Dialogue of the Desert Sages, where this time the mercury-looking material is called âexalted earth.â The mercury-sulfur theory of metals was popular in medieval Islamic alchemy, and it refers to the idea that all metals are formed in the earth out of a combination of these two elements.  Like Sybilla, itâs implied the Goddess of Flowers sacrificed her life to help Deshret fulfill his goals. Secret Keeperâs Magic Bottle: "I shall fashion you a bridge to allow you to slake your deepest wants. But you must fear not the crystalline sapphire nail..." "I will deliver you unto higher knowledge. But as I have warned, you are fated to lose much in this exchange..." "Nevertheless, hide my lesson in your heart. Remember the punishment that once was inflicted on the fallen envoys of heaven." "Know this: if there is to be hope in this world, it will be found kindling within mortals most ordinary." Wreathed in darkness, she guided her dearest friend toward the path to understanding all there was to know about the skies and the abyss. Using her body as a conduit and offering the oasis in trade, she let the dazzling radiance consume her to see his deepest desires be made manifest⊠Itâs not clear exactly when she died, as other sources of in-game info attribute her death to the âmalice of the burning sun and yellow sand,â as well as imply her death was part of a larger plan she had (Oasis Garden weapon mats). That being said, the Flower of Paradise Lost description states that after she performed this exchange, she was never seen again. As for the color scheme mentioned earlier, we donât know what Deshret or the Goddess of Flowers looked like. Our only hints as to their human forms are the Gilded Dreams TCG card/artifact design, and a throwaway line in the Sumeru Archon Quest where Nilou says her stage costume is inspired by legends about how the Goddess of Flowers dressed.
As of 4.7, we also have the Flower of Paradise Lost TCG card, which may depicted the Goddess of Flowers. The color scheme is purple and white, but the woman in the art is wearing a dress that looks similar to Guizhongs (delulu). The crown on this card has little wings, which are reminiscent of the winged helmet Mercury is sometimes depicted as wearing.Â
The defining feature of the chemical marriage is that the metaphorical union produces something greater than the sum of its parts. Sybilla and the Goddess of Flowerâs sacrifices allowed the fulfillment of plans that were intended to create new worlds, something I would consider greater than the combination of god and Seelie minds. Another common thread in these transactions is wisdom, or lack thereof, with both Goddess of Flowers and Guizhong offering wisdom, and Sybilla saying that she no longer has hers - although that didnât stop her from becoming part of Phobos. This theme of wisdom also has alchemical significance, since the philosopherâs stone is the lapis philosophorum; the 'stone of wisdom'. Iâve written a theory about the philosopherâs stone and Descenders and alchemy, including the chemical wedding motif, in the Narzissekreuz Ordo questions: you can check it out here. Two points that I want to carry over to this theory is that a) there is evidence to suggest that the philosopherâs stone and a Descender are the same in Teyvat and b) the ability to successfully change Fortuna (fate) is directly linked with Descender status. Iâm not saying that Deshret and Remus were trying to become Descenders, but there are clear thematic parallels with their goals, and Reneâs goals. Additionally, these four examples are not the only time a union resulted in world changing consequences. Records of Jueyun recounts the story of the traveler from afar and the seelie: At a far-flung moment in the distant past, the ancestor of the seelie met a traveler from afar, with whom they swore an oath of union witnessed by the three sisters of the Lunar Palace. Just thirty days later, a sudden disaster struck. The seelie and their lover fled into exile as the world collapsed around them, fleeing until the terrible calamity caught up with and seized them. Their cruel punishment was to be separated from each other for eternity and to have their memories wiped without a trace. The book goes on to directly connect this union with the curse of the Seelies that Arama mentions: The graceful but heartbroken seelie and the sisters grew more sullen and withdrawn with each passing day, to the point where their wondrous forms withered away, leaving fragments of their former selves scattered in the mountains and ruins, where they turned into tiny little life forms. They had forgotten so much, lost so much, and been stripped of their voices and wisdom, yet they continued to sing the same songs of grief. Because of this, still harboring a shred of the deep love they once had for their long-lost lover, they will act as guides to travelers who stop in the mountain mist, seeking to retrace their memories of an ancient story in long-abandoned ruins, disused makeup cabinets, and now-undecipherable poetry. Moonlight Bamboo forest has another version of the story, where the three moon sisters loved the âstars of daybreak,â and after some kind of cataclysmic event, only one (dead) moon remained in the sky. Mitternachtâs Waltz also described a sword shattering one of the moons: Two of the three bright moons that caused the perfumed sea of the primordial universe to shine and stirred up the beasts of the Arianrhod Realm were shredded by a sword that tore the horizon asunder, left in smithereens too small even for the mystical sight of the Prinzessin. Ever since the Narzissenkreuz quests, I am very suspicious of all swords mentioned in lore. If we put all these themes and narratives together, another possible metaphorical union emerges:
Since the dawn of Genshin lore, there have been various theories regarding the duality in the designs of the twins, with some also suggesting that they are two separate halves of one being. However, Iâd like to propose the opposite: if the twins follow the path of their fellow black/gold and blue/white predecessors, then it seems likely a fusion that is also a sacrifice is in the future for our protagonist. There are other similarities between the twins and the god-king/seelie pairs. The twins have sun and moon symbolism on their clothes, constellations, and swords: Aetherâs has a star (sun) shaped hilt and Lumineâs a moon. The Traveler is frequently described as being âgoldenâ (ex. Golden Nara), and Liloupar says that they remind her of Deshret.  The Traveler is already a Descender, but they definitely donât seem to have the strength or knowledge to exercise their world-equivalent Will yet - and maybe their sibling who has been spending time in the Abyss and has learned the âtruth of this worldâ can help. In that case, the knowledge of the Abyss-aligned twin would fulfill the role of the Seelie knowledge in this pair, helping the Traveler complete their power-up. But what about Paimon, the emergency food? She's the dove, representing the spirit and- [is dragged offstage].Â
P.S. I didnât know where to fit this in, but I think Before Sun and Moon is also referring to a chemical wedding. Sun -> sulfur and gold, Moon -> mercury and silver. The title could be an incomplete phrase, and actually be something like âBefore Sun and Moon joined.â

I want to talk about the Valkyries
So, I love the Valkyries. Their friendship is everything, and frankly, the best part of the series. However, I've never really liked the idea of them being warriors, and I want to hear some thoughts and opinions on that.
It all comes down to this single sentence; â"There are many types of strength beyond the ability to wield a blade and end lives. Amren told me that yesterday."â
To me, Nesta's strength lies in her other skills and abilities. She was raised to marry a Prince, so there's no doubt she's far more educated than most in her station. She proved that she has a good head on her shoulders and heart in her chest when she calculated the cost of evacuating humans from the mortal lands bellow Prythian, which goes beyond the number of ships, mind you.
She'd have to calculate the cost of the ship, the sailors to man them, the cost of security to protect the refugees in case the ships are attacked, which would mean the cost of weapons made of ash (which we know is rare since the fae burned many of the ash trees long ago), the provisions of sailors, provisions for guards, provisions for refugees, medicine for those who are sick or elderly, the time it would take to sail from the continent, load up the ships, and then sail back, etc. It's not easy, and there are a lot of factors to take into consideration, but Nesta did it and presented it to The Mortal Queens, who might have executed them for siding with the fae or even just speaking back to them, with not a single ounce of fear.
Nesta endured her mother's abuse, and didn't let it make her resent Feyre and Elain, instead, fuelling her desire to protect Elain and allow them both to find happiness in their marriages, something which we can presume is rare based on the little information and context we have for the human lands, despite it not necessarily furthering her family, while not bothering to do so for herself.
Nesta won the heart of a duke before even stepping onto the dance floor, had Eris dancing in the palm of her hand, arguably before dancing with him, and her idea to distract The King of Hybern, when Rhys didn't consider it until she brought it up. Nesta united the High Lords. Not Feyre. Not the IC. Nesta. After witnessing her father's death, and having all her trauma come crashing down on her, attended a meeting with strangers, both humans and fae, at her sister's behest, then kept herself together long enough to make it back to Velaris and to her room.
Feyre takes strength and inspiration from Nesta and her steely resolve, in times like The HL meeting.
Within a single year, she forced herself to overcome her fear of bathtubs, alone, while enduring the criticism and verbal abuse of the IC. She endured that nightmare Solstice, dinner parties and other events with them watching her like a circus performer. She endured her so-called mates' abuse and the abuse he allowed his family to show her, leaving her completely alone. Nesta didn't throw herself into the river or try to commit suicide, as far as we know, during this time, and gave everything to keep her head above water.
Let nobody tell you that Nesta Archeron isn't a strong ass woman.
I think this is why her becoming a warrior bothers me. Her courtier and dancing skills are shown to help her thrive in a place like the CON, a place the IC hates and the narrative paints as being full of scheming, evil, deserve to rot in hell, asshole fae nobles. This is a disservice to Nesta's immense talents and skill in navigating these situations. to be exploited, and painted as something that is synonymous with the 'evil' of The CON.
Also, I think that certain parts of the CON's culture is similar to human culture, in some ways. Between that and Nesta telling Bryce about how she's okay with being fae because of immortality, I think SJM is doing a disservice to humanity and it's culture. Nesta's insistence on holding on to her humanity when she points out things like how Solstice isn't a human holiday, or how fae have regard for human custom or manners (twice), and even her modest style of dress is something I love about her character.
I hate how it feels like, that for all Feyre claims both the human and fae lands are her home, she's disregarding her human culture, and Nesta is being forced to as well. Assimilating into fae society doesn't mean that she has to abandon her culture, and I think it would've been great to see more human cultures and customs, even if they didn't have holiday's or religions, being integrated into the IC. Meanwhile, Feyre's only response is to try it, because she might like it, which I think is also incredibly insensitive. Feyre and the IC have essentially indoctrinated Nesta, and wiped her human values and traditions from her life.
Her so-called mate was also the one trying to make her train since ACOWAR, without regard for human customs and how much she values them. It's like none of them care for their human heritage, and want to abandon that piece of her all together. For all he claims to love her and her fire, he doesn't care for where it came from, and who she was before he moulded her into his version of a perfect mate.
Amren is the one who told Nesta that she doesn't have to be a warrior, and that's based on the strength Nesta displayed as part of her human upbringing, implying that, even then, she is strong without the ability to end lives. Yet, she's also one of the strongest advocates for Nesta being forced to train.
If exercise of some kind is what they think she needs, why not dance? Elain is aware of how much Nesta enjoys it, and given her repeated protests about being around Cassian, why not get her a dance teacher, outside the IC, and have her learn dances from different courts or places on the continent? It's something she enjoys, and gives her a chance to learn more about the world out there, while developing many of the skills she's been trained with since birth.
I don't want to hear anything about Nesta 'choosing' to be a warrior. She merely accepted her fate, knowing it was that, or certain death.
Honestly, I think I might have been more okay with the warrior thing, if she wasn't consistently exploited by the IC. Or if I wasn't convinced that Rhysand would treat the Valkyries as an extension of his military.
Speaking of the Valkyries as a whole, I think they have so much potential that's being wasted.
Why must they be warriors? Why not a group of healers, and diplomats, and dancers and explorers, and scientists? Why not have them as a way for Nesta to fulfil her own dream of seeing the world
I've made my stance on Rhysand's so-called attempt at equality in Illyria very clear in this post (where I talk about why Cassian would be the worst father ever), but the gist of it is that throwing women swords, and forcing them to be soldiers isn't equality. Giving them the same opportunities and education to chose to be a warrior, librarian, baker, blacksmith, teacher, merchant or whatever is the start of equality.
That's not to say that they can't be warriors too. It just irks me that it's all they are. That's not to say I dislike all fmcs who become warriors, though I do think that there's an overabundance of them. Why must being a warrior be what defines The Valkyries. I don't see how that makes them different to another military unit, even though Nesta is likely to be the only one expected to act like a real soldier.
The narrative makes Nesta a warrior with her other skills and passions being just a smaller part of her character. I think it should be the other way around. I think she, and The Valkyries, deserve to be more than warriors.
I feel like Emerie would be the only one who'd want to be a full time warrior out of the main three Valkyries. Even then, it's mostly due to how ingrained it is to Illyrian culture.
The concept of Nesta helping the Priestesses heal is perfect for her character, based on what we've seen her do for civilians and victims in the past. This is why I believe The Valkyries would've been more interesting if they took a humanitarian (kind of) approach to things. Helping women who are oppressed, like Illyrian women, or those in The CON, follow their dreams and escape abuse.
The IC call themselves The Court of Dreams, so wouldn't having The Valkyries be the ones to help the underprivileged start on the path to fulfilling their own dreams be poetic? It would give her a chance to travel too, if she went across Prythian or even to The Continent.
Stepping back from The Valkyries for a moment, there are many strong FMCs that aren't warriors at all. Personally, I think Stephenie Garber writes them best.
My favourite Evangeline Fox. I think she's the strongest FMC I've read/watched because her strength comes from her kindness, and belief in true love, even when the world is trying to prove otherwise. She refuses to give up hope for a happily ever after, and fights through impossible odds with her wit and heart alone for her love.
I also love Scarlett's resolve and quick thinking. I honestly think she's a lot like Nesta in some ways, when it comes to protecting her sisters (though I think Feyre is a bit like her at time s too). I'm impressed by the lengths she'd go to for those she loves, and her resolve when she decides that she deserves better than what someone's giving her. I love Donatella's determination, and decision to use other people's low opinions of her, and ideas of her being just another dumb blonde, choosing instead to use it to her advantage and prove them wrong out of spite.
I love Tohru Honda and her resolve to be kind and compassionate to everyone, even those who don't deserve it. She assumes ignorance or accident before malice and continues to strive to be better, for herself and for others. Her kindness and compassion is what inspires others around her.
I love Sophie's resourcefulness and bravery in Howel's Moving Castle.
I love Winter from At The End There Was You, because of how kind and chatty she is. How she choses to believe that the good can outweigh the bad and never stops asking questions or being curious.
Even jumping back to SJM for a moment, I love Bryce, not because she can weald weapons, but because of how resourceful, kind and witty she is. I love how she uses her femininity and others' low opinion of her to her advantage. Yrene was my favourite character in TOG, and I loved Tower of Dawn because of her. Some of my favourite moments with Aelinare when she's being girly with Lysandra. From chatting and sharing chocolates, to playing with Evangeline, or having some form of girl time (most of which are in QOS).
The Valkyries had the potential to be more than just, the now, stereotypical, strong, warrior FMCs.
â"There are many types of strength beyond the ability to wield a blade and end lives. Amren told me that yesterday."â
I think this quote should've set the president for The Valkyries. Looking back at this, I think it's less The Valkyries that I dislike and more the fact that they're warriors. I wish it played more into that quote, rather than giving us the same old story about finding strength through fighting. Personally, I think solving disputes between nations through words and dancing, or discovering the cure to sicknesses, or even bridging the gap between two sentient races sharing a world (humans and fae) all while fulfilling your dreams is more impressive than swinging swords around and ending disputes with death.
If there really needed to be some semblance of warrior like training, why not lower the intensity to self defence? Do something like Yrene and start teaching women self defence and educating them in reading, writing and maths. Give them the opportunities to better their lives and create futures for themselves. Make them about empowerment in whatever ways others feel comfortable, not just by becoming warriors.
TLDR: I think the Valkyries, namely Nesta, being warriors, first and foremost, is a disservice to her character and to the strength of women who find empowerment through other means. â"There are many types of strength beyond the ability to wield a blade and end lives. Amren told me that yesterday."â is what Amren said in ACOWAR, as quoted by Nesta, and I think that should've set the tone for The Valkyries. The worst part is how her own so-called mate doesn't respect that about her. I do want to hear other thoughts on this matter though. Do being warriors suite The Valkyries? Does it suite Nesta or her story?

The Emperor of Magic | Prologue
Summary: More feared than the Shadow Summoner himself and more powerful than the Sun Summoner could even imagine, the Emperor of Magic is the only known human to be able to manipulate magic. Having only been a myth up until this point, Kaz Brekker sets out to take her captive in hopes of making himself rich in the processâŠ
Warning: +18 Warning, mentions of gruesome deaths, person taken into captivity
Pairing: Kaz Brekker x Fem!Reader
Type: Series
Word Count: 1.6k
Series Masterlist
It had been three and a half years. Any spare moment was spent keened over a desk looking at outdated documents, old records, and even ancient books. Plans had been laid out, but were often discarded once a flaw presented itself. The rumor had started three and a half years ago; that there had been a sighting of what ancient texts called âThe Emperor of Magic.â
This was no ordinary human being. They couldnât be classified as Grisha since they only performed small science. They are only able to manipulate things. The Emperor was able to craft, wield, and destroy anything. They are the only known being to control magic.
There were theories that tried to reason and explain the power and extent of magic. The Emperor needs to see a victim in order to inflict order and control their mind. The Emperor must touch a victimâs skin to possess them. The Emperor need only hear their victimâs voice to be able to control their every thought. Though the wildest theory claimed the Emperor doesnât need to see, touch, or hear anybody in order to control them. They are already all-knowing. Therefore, they could control.
More feared than the Shadow Summoner himself and more powerful than the Sun Summoner could ever imagine. The Emperor of Magic rose above all others. Their power was not limited to one area like the Grisha. They had the ability to control anything and anyone.
The Emperor was not viewed as a Saint; they were viewed as a demon from the depths of hell. A man had died the most impossible death; his head exploded into millions of pieces. Some witnesses were around when the incident happened and called the authorities. Now someone had been taken into custody.
Due to the extent of the incident, the leaders of the three nations called a meeting to discuss what should happen next. They met in Ravka. In the Little Palace, they attempted to come to an agreement as to what should be done about this new threat to their world.
While Ravka, Fjerda, and Shu Han had their differences in the past, they were willing to work together to come to a solution about this issue. If they refused to work together, their countries might cease to exist in a few years time or they might lose their thrones of power. They needed to find a solution.
âShe went willingly. Didnât put up a fight,â the King of Ravka explained to them. âShe very well could have taken down my entire army if she wanted to, but she didnât.â
âAre we absolutely certain it was her?â The Taban Queen of Shu Han spoke.
âOnce she was in custody, she killed two more guards the same way,â The King of Ravka claimed. âIt is most certainly her.â
âHow was she detained?â The King of Fjerda asked in a thick heavy accent. He had obviously heard about the extent of her powers.
âMy soldiers took her by surprise,â the King of Ravka boasted. âThey covered her eyes with a bag and put muffs over her ears. Stuffed a gag in her mouth so she could not speak and bound her wrists so she couldnât perform any magic.â
âWhere is she now?â The Taban Queen of Shu Han wondered.
âShe is currently being kept in a high security prison. Though I fear the cell is not built to contain someone as gifted as her. She needs to be kept in an impenetrable place,â the King of Ravka said slowly.
The Ravkan Kingâs eyes had shifted to the King of Fjerda. The Ice Court was a military stronghold that was truly impenetrable. Many of the druskelle were tasked with guarding the high-security prison, keeping track of all prisoners. The King of Ravka knew that the Ice Court would be the only place that would be able to contain someone of such power.
âYou donât think she would be able to escape the cells?â The King of Fjerda questioned. âShe can control anything; she could make her way out of a flimsy cell.â
âThatâs why Iâd like to send a Fabrikator to construct a cell to hold her,â the King proposed. But this only caused the King of Fjerda to laugh.
âI would never allow the likes of Grisha into my court,â the King of Fjerda seethed in threat. His people liked to hunt those who could manipulate small science. They found so much pleasure in killing them.
âThen say she does escape. Donât you think sheâll want to take us out first?â The King of Ravka explained. This only caused the other king to frown. âShe is called âthe Emperorâ for a reason. She wonât need kings or queens once she is in power. Sheâll take our thrones if we do not stop her now.â
âYou can stop her by killing her,â the Fjerdan spat. âStrike her down where she stands. The demon does not deserve to live.â
âBut she could be of great use to us,â the Queen of Shu Han spoke up. Her people were known for conducting scientific experiments and inflicting inhumane treatment onto the Grisha. âIf we could harness that power, weâd be able to control our enemies,â the Queen grew excited from the thought alone.
âExactly,â the King of Ravka nodded. âSheâd become our greatest weapon.â
The three leaders agreed that they liked power and theyâd like to remain in power. By eliminating the threat, theyâd have very little to gain from it. However, if they were able to obtain that power of magic somehow, theyâd be able to weaponize it and use it against their enemies. Theyâd be unstoppable.
So they crafted a legal document in which they all had to agree to and sign. In the document, Ravka would supply the materials needed to contain the threat. The Fabrikators would have to create a cell that could contain such power. Theyâd also be tasked with crafting the proper attire that would render her imobile and make it so she could not use her magic. The Fjerdan would provide the space to contain her and the people to guard her. The druskelle were known to be some of the best soldiers in the world. The Shu would provide the knowledge. Theyâd send scientists to perform the experiments needed to figure out how to harness the power of magic.
Each nation had a part to play. And it was going to work in their favor.
That meeting happened three and a half years ago. There was no evidence that the meeting ever happened besides the legal document which explained each nationâs part to play in the whole scheme. Only one person had lived to see the incident happen that resulted in the death of a man. That is how the rumor started.
The Emperor of Magic had been sighted, but there was little evidence to prove it. The man claimed that the authorities took her into custody, but neither the captive or the guardsmen were ever seen again. The man who claimed to see all of this was starting to go crazy, becoming a theorist whose ideas sounded extreme.
The rumors spread across the lands and fell on ears. Many people chose not to believe the man, insisting that there was no such thing as magic and whatever he had seen was just make believe. Some people were most intrigued by his stories and wondered what truly happened to the person captured.
The Little Palace kept the legal document of evidence in a sealed vault. The document had actually never been seen by anybody other than the three people who had signed it. However, unbeknownst to the three rulers, the legal document that was currently sitting in the vault was not the original copy.
About three years ago, a small group of criminals had broken into the palace on a completely unrelated heist. Their true intent was to capture the Sun Summoner who had just recently been discovered. But one of the members stumbled across a secure vault.
He had a thing for lockpicking. When he was able to open the vault, he was slightly surprised to see a single piece of paper inside. He took it without hesitation, coming to believe it must have had some type of significance if it was locked away. He quickly crafted a replica and forged signatures before slipping the copy into the vault.
Kaz Brekker was able to find the one piece of evidence and quickly became obsessed with it. For the next three years, Kaz studied that single piece of flimsy paper until the edges became worn and the paper grew discolored. He tried finding old reports on abnormal or supernatural behavior. He pulled out old records of prisoners kept in the court. He even read ancient texts which described the emperorâs power.
Why the fascination? Why the obsession over a mere myth? The answer was clear to him.
He didnât believe in saints or demons. He didnât care about people who could manipulate small science or people who could control magic. What he saw was an opportunity to make him rich beyond his wildest dreams.
If other people in power knew about this potential weapon, how much would they be willing to pay for it? If he managed to break her out of prison and keep her captive himself, what kind of power would he possess? Â Power. Money. Control.
He began crafting the ultimate heist. He recovered old maps of the court they had made during their first heist as a full crew. He studied the old myths to become more knowledgeable in the kind of threat theyâd be facing. Wanting to keep his whole crew alive if possible, Kaz was making sure every aspect assured their safety.
They couldnât be seen by the emperor. They couldnât be heard by the emperor. And they could not touch the emperor. But Kaz somehow devised a plan to get the emperor out of prison.Â
It took him three years. He lost count of the amount of paper heâd gone through. He spent too many hours studying those old documents. He also didnât relay any details to the rest of his crew. At least, not until he was able to perfect his plan.Â
Finally, after three years, Kaz was content with the looks of his heist. He looked over the plans once more. He managed to break into the Ice Court once. How hard could it be doing it again?

Hey, buddy, it's been a long time since I sent an ask though i used a different name and you answered them, anyways, I have a good one, I think, ok, so have you heard of the gilded guy animations. If you did, how would team ruby react to this fairy tale in the ever after of this guy infamous for getting into random fights suddenly fighting jaune. I think yang would love the irony.
The Makings of a Hero
"Hey, Jaune?"
"Yeah, Ruby?"
"It's just... Back when you were fighting off those Jabberwalkers, your fighting style was kinda... different."
"I thought so, too." Weiss added. "In fact, it seems like your time here has changed you a lot more than any of us expected."
"Assuming any of us could have expected you'd be here with us." Blake amended.
"Or how some of us would think of you in a new way~." Yang teased.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Weiss replied, looking away from Yang.
"Well, I didn't exactly travel alone." Jaune answered. "I've been here a long time. So long that I had no choice to keep growing and learning. I owe a lot of it to my mentor."
"Your mentor?" Yang asked. "You had a mentor down here?"
"Was he another fairy tale character?" Blake asked with almost too much excitement.
"WAS HE?!" Weiss added with way too much excitement.
"Whoa! Whoa!" Jaune held up his hands defensively. "In order; yes, I did; I think so, but I don't remember which one; and Weiss, you need to calm down." Almost everyone laughed at this interaction. The only ones who didn't were Weiss, face flushed with embarrassment, and Ruby, who'd been mostly quiet the whole time.
"What was your mentor like?" Ruby spoke up.
"He was... quiet." Jaune said. "He wore golden armor and wielded a sword and a sort of magic marker."
"A magic marker?" Yang asked.
"I don't remember him."
"I do." Weiss answered. "He's not very well known, and most fairy tales don't feature him because he doesn't really do much as far as fairy tale characters go. He just sort of... fights people and doesn't say a word."
"That makes sense why he isn't popular, then." Blake surmised. "A lot of what makes fairy tales so memorable is their dialogue, and if there's no dialogue, it won't have memorable moments for people to latch onto an learn lessons from."
"Did he talk to you?" Yang asked Jaune.
"No, he didn't." He said. "Most of what he did was making hand gestures... That and grabbing his sword when it was time to spar." He chuckled. "And we sparred a lot."
"Did you see his memories, and he yours?"
"Yeah." Jaune answered, a little unnerved. "Was that in the fairy tales?"
"It was." Weiss nodded. "It was my grandfather's favorite story, but I never understood why. I only saw it as a person with a kind heart in armor."
"My guess was that he was just a guy who believed actions spoke louder than words and took that to heart." Jaune said.
"Maybe he got tired of talking." Ruby said softly. If anyone heard her, they didn't show it.
"We should stop here for the night." Jaune pulled back on Juniper's fur. With a grunt, she stopped in her tracks. Jaune hopped down. "Alright, I'll get some wood for the fire."
"What should we do?"
"There's some tent supplies under Juniper's saddle." He explained. "It makes the riding easier for her and for me."
"Riding, huh?" Yang smirked. "Maybe you could give Ice Queen a few pointers~?"
"Shut. Up. Yang." Weiss hissed back.

Are requests open? I have one I thought of, if not you can disregard this. Also love content by the way UwU!
Request:
How Bi-han would be as a father, or raising his baby son/daughter? Like wholesome Dad-han stuff. ^^
I'm sorry for taking so long to get back to this! I was so distracted by Kinktober that I couldn't really focus on anything else and I wanted do this when I could give it my full attention. đ
I love this idea! I always wanted to do some content for Bi-Han because he was my very first MK crush. đ€ And thank you! I'm glad you are enjoying my work. đđ©”
Father Bi-Han Headcanons:
When Bi-Han first found out he was going to be a father, he was frustrated. How could he be a decent father and be the strong grandmaster that the Lin Kuai needed? However, once the news finally sunk in, he was happy.
He knew that this child would be gifted with his abilitiesâperfect for the next grandmaster of his clan.
During his wife's pregnancy, he is extremely protective. No one dares even go near her during this time. He treats her like a queen, giving her everything she ever wants or needs.
When it comes time to give birth, he is by her side the whole time, going between comforting her and barking orders at the doctors. After hours of screaming and crying (from his wife and the doctors each time he would start yelling), the child is finally born.
To say Bi-Han is proud is an understatement. He would not care about the gender. All that matters to him is that the baby is healthy. He holds his child in his icy arms, and he finds himself smiling. He knows this child will be strong and worthy of the title of future grandmaster.
Surprisingly, he is really good at dealing with a baby. Late at night, he sits in the chair where his mother used to sit with him and Kuai Laing, feeding his child and rocking him back and forth in his arms as he tells him stories of the great Lin Kuei warriors of the past.
Once the baby becomes a child, he begins training them. He is pleased when it turns out that his kin is as strong as he hoped him to be. He couldn't be prouder of his child.
When the boy/girl develops their Cryromancer abilities, Bi-Han is right there to help them hone their skill. It's a little rocky in the beginning, but soon the child proves to be just as great of a cryromancer as their father.Â
Bi-Han's life changes quickly from work-oriented to family-oriented. He is still focused on making the Lin Kuei rise to their greatest potential, but he has learned to take one step back to be there for his family.Â
Dinners consist of discussions of how the child's ice-wielding skills have progressed, instead of the usual silence he used to enjoy while eating. At least two hours of the afternoon were spent with the child, teaching them lessons and showing them ways to improve their skills instead of hounding on the Lin Kuei warriors to do better as they train. Perhaps even a snowball fight or two would happen to break out between the pair.
Yes, Bi-Han's life has changed, but he couldn't be happier about it.

More feh characters ideas but I can't remember what I said in my last post so there might be repeats. (Mainly fe14)
Leif and LĂf duo
Dimitri and Xander duo
LĂf and Sharena duo
LĂf and Elise duo
Sharena and Elise
Xander as a maid for that butler banner or whatever it is. Maybe Xander Azura duo because all Azura does besides sing and kill is shove food in her face in her supports /j
Maybe Xander Azura songstress duo.
Sumeragi with Rajinto
Garon with Brynhildr/Siegfried (I personally want Brynhildr, I think Malig Knight Garon is canon. I don't see him just switching to an axe after losing/passing on Siegfried if he was a paladin unless he was a great knight which I just doubt, maybe Katerina or something had Siegfriedđ€·ââïž.)
Katerina and Ikona. Their names exist in fates so they might as well get faces.
Then obviously a Xander Katerina duo and a Garon Katerina duo and an Ikona Sumeragi duo and a Ryoma Ikona duo since the other Hoshidan siblings don't remember Ikona? (I think that's how it is at least) Like I feel that Hinoka should have a faint memory, even if the siblings were 1 year apart and Ikona died right after Sakura, Hinoka would have been like 3 years old.
I don't know what weapon Ikona would use or if she would be a staff, I'm pretty sure it said Mikoto used Fujin yumi, so maybe Ikona did to?
I think Katerina would be a paladin and that's why Xander chose to be one.
Witch Camilla, Nina, Orochi, Ophelia, or Elise.
Spear fighter Hinoka even though infantry sucks.
Takumi Takumi duo
Azura Camilla duo
Ryoma and Askr because I already have confused them so many times (I don't know how one is a cow and the other is a lobster.)
Ash and Ryoma (Rock lobster.)
Alfonse and LĂf
Ike and Hinata
Sylvain, Lorenz, Hinata and Laslow.
A heros day in the life drawing of Xander and Leo chasing Sylvain off for going near Elise like Seteth would for Flayn.
Flayn and Elise duo (they already have the exact same personal skill (Lily's poise) they might as well be paired.)
Lysithia and Camilla.
A NEW LEIF THAT DOESN'T WEILD A BOW
Xander that does wield a bow so there is a Xander for every weapon.
Leo with his ice sword
King Leo with Siegfried and King Leo with Brynhildr, one can be like fallen leo or whatever.
Hinoka with Rajinto
Alt where Sakura became queen so I can forget about Queen Camilla's existence (that unit infuriates me but if there is 2 units who make no canonical sense I'll be okay.)
More Kazes. 8 more to be precise.
Laslow Oliva and Odin Lissa like Selena and Cordelia
Caledori and Severa.
Shiro and Forrest
Oboro and Forrest
XANDER AND SIEGBERT
KANA AND SHIRO
KANA AND SIEGBERT
Fallen Chrom and day of devotion Lucina specifically.
Laslow Odin duo
Any male corrin
Summoner and Alfonse so we can make it official. We already know they are in love đ.

The Starsword aka Gwydion
I kept turning over that angry anon from yesterday.
Was my theory about Gwydion farfetched? Sure, but at this point a lot of CC theories are farfetched to some extent because only SJM knows what's actually going to happen and we're all just doing our best to interpret the clues. There are multiple possible outcomes for every scenario right now.
But I do think there are levels to how likely certain theories are and that's usually based on how much twisting of canon and the characters we're doing to achieve them.
My Gwydion theory is probably one of the more out there ones I've done and as there are many other possible theories surrounding the sword and a lot of confusion in how intertwined these two series are, it makes me hesitant to believe in my theory the way I do say, Elain ending up in Spring.
But is it really any more farfetched than other Starsword theories?
When you break it down there are one of three options.
1) Bryce keeps the Starsword and takes TT back to Midgard with her.
2) Bryce returns to Midgard with the Starsword and Az keeps TT in Prythian.
3) Gwydion is left in Prythian, the land where it was originally forged.
I could see Bryce keeping the Starsword (espcially since the IC has their own made weapons) and Az keeping TT because those weapons are part of their individual backstories.
I see it being less likely that Bryce would take TT from Az, something about that feels odd to me considering Az had TT long before SJM even started drafting CC.
Maybe the prophecy has already been fulfilled. Technically Bryce represents the people on Midgard while Rhys and the gang represent the land where her people originated from, therefore the dagger and sword have already been reunited as well as their people. I think the theories claiming all the inhabitants of Midgard will be reunited with all the people of Prythian because they'll eventually live together are not probable. Or maybe it's still hinting at them joining together in a war of the worlds situation but returning to their own planets after at a later point.
That leaves us with the third option, Gwydion stays in Prythian.
Anyone reading CC and assuming they have Theia and the Starswords history correct is forgetting that Amren was alive / in Prythian before Gwydion and Fionn rose. She did not enter the prison until the time when they were rounding up the last members of their old masters. "The last members of". That should mean that Amren was alive when Gwydion was forged and given to Fionn who then helped defeat the majority of Daglan in battle.
The rough territories were not drawn until after Fionn defeated the Daglan with Gwydion and Fionn's Queen was ruler of one of those territories (possibly Theia?). But it wasn't the Dusk Court yet, just where it would have been.
Amren was in prison during Fionn's murder by his Queen and general so if there is any confusion in ACOTAR history, it could have come from that specific time period. Maybe there's confusion as to who actually murdered him (maybe Theia was fed lies about Fionn by Pelias, maybe she was forced) or how he was murdered. Or the missing piece could simply be who his queen was, that they never had a name for her. But it is mentioned that Fionn's most powerful and prized possessions were stolen and then many disappeared around the same time the Trove disappeared (Gwydion and the horn went to Midgard).
I really don't think any gaps in Prythians history comes from how Gwydion was created or who first wielded it because out of all the characters in all series, Amren was witness to it.
And Aidas snarling that the Starsword belong to Theia's female heirs is someone speaking out as an ex-lover who hates Pelias and hates that Pelias tried to pass the Starsword down to his children. We have no evidence that Aidas knew Theia before the crossing or knew whether the Starsword was hers to begin with.
Yes, the Starsword recognizes Bryce "as kin" but "like calls to like". Gwydion was made when it was dipped into the Cauldron. We have hints that the fae (which would include the orignal Starborn), Illyrian's, etc were "created" by the Daglan. Possibly using the Cauldron?
Even Briallyn was able to search for the Trove because it recognized her "as kin".
Theoretically anyone descended from those original Starborn fae or fae hybrids as well as any recently made could possess the Starsword but we also need to remember that "Made objects tend to not wish to be found by just anyone". Cassian says, "you say that as if the objects have a sentience". And Amren replies, "They do." "They were made in a time when wild magic still roamed the earth." "Made objects tend to gain their own self-awareness and desires" which all means the sword may not choose to respond to just anyone and it could have it's own agenda in reacting to Bryce the way in did.
Did Bryce not return it to the land from which it came? Reuniting it with it's twin? Could part of the whole setup have been Gwydion returning to Prythian and Bryce having a chance to learn about her history?
The Starsword / Gwydion is a made object just like the mask / crown were made so there's not always one super special fae that these objects belong to. If Briallyn could use the crown than someone other than Bryce could use the sword. Ruhn was able to pull it from the stone though it didn't respond to him exactly the same way which Bryce realizes is due to the nuances in their lights. Which could mean any number of things, one being that the sword knew Bryce's light and her being the keeper of the horn were necessary to return it to Prythian. And in CC they haven't seen Theia's light appear since Theia but that doesn't mean there aren't descendants of Starborn fae in ACOTAR who also share a light similar to Theia or another one of their ancestors. Midgard doesn't have many descendants of the original Starborn but that doesn't mean there aren't more still existing in their original world.
There are 7 courts in Prythian though if the crossing had not happened, there would most likely have been 8 and Theia would have been the High Lady of Dusk. I absolutely do not think this means they're now going to form an 8th court with Bryce as the ruler, Bryce belongs in Midgard with her people. But.....we know Rhys is probably Starborn but with a Starborn gift that matches Ruhns. And I'm guessing Helion could also be Starborn based off his reaction to the mask (a Trove item that was made as Gwydion was made) as well as the fact that he has the light of the sun and is the owner of the Pegasus. That could mean his heir might also be Starborn.
Dawn Court glows the brightest of everyone so.....could he not be a descendent of the Starborn?
I'm wondering if all the High Lords are Starborn (and now any of the characters who were "made" by the Cauldron) because of their ancestry. It would make sense given the fact that they are blessed with powers unlike any other. The other fae bloodlines have been diluted over the years but the bloodlines among the High Lords seems to have a stronger connection to the magic.
And if Fionn was the first High King ruling over everyone than it's possible he was Starborn and he's got descendants out there, maybe in Autumn given his connection in mythology to the hounds and forests.
Yes, that means most of our main characters would be Starborn, Bryce, Rhys, Helion, Beron, Tamlin, Nesta, Lucien, Eris etc. but it still doesn't mean they can all pick and choose whatever made weapons they want. We saw in SF that Ataraxia seemed to almost fight against Rhys using it while it responded to Nesta. And we saw the made dagger given to Eris possibly infuse itself with his fire meaning that particular made weapon seems to connect with him.
Depending on who her father is Gwyn could also be descended from a Starborn fae (if she's related to Beron or Eris).
If that third option listed above is a remote possibility than who would get Gwydion?
I don't think Gwydion is more powerful than Narben or Ataraxia or any made object. I think the mask and crown can probably do more damage to their enemies so at this point I really do think Gwydion is more symbolic of the first High King who helped them defeat the Daglan, a symbol of peace. Sure, it's still going to be powerful as any made weapon is but it's no longer one of a kind and is special because of its history. And it makes sense to have it end up with the person who will once again rally everyone together to fight in the battle of all battles.
Gwydion was a savior's light that brought about peace so which character matches with that imagery?
Rhys? - They specifically mentioned Rhys as possible High King in SF and he is genuinely concerned with bringing about peace to their lands, he was already willing to die for them in ACOWAR. So maybe?
Feyre? (could she be Starborn if gifted with the powers of all the High Lords?) - Rhys once called her his salvation and she too was willing to die for their people, not to mention she glows with Helions light.
I could see arguments being made for them except for a few things. They are the High Lord and Lady of the Night Court and morally gray at times. Their goal is always to bring about peace but they've lost trust along the way in how they go about that. Not to mention their POVs are over. While I do think they'll still play major roles in the series, I feel it's time for the other characters to shine. Amren also reminds Rhys that "the Cauldron's benevolence will only be extended to him for so long before it is offered to another" which does seem to hint at the torch being passed along.
Gwyn? Gwyn and Gwydion (matching names), Az has TT and the sword and dagger are connected, not to mention she glows. But the play on names is a little too cutesy and in your face and I'm not sure she makes sense as the one to unify the courts and their lands which is what Gwydion represents to their people. Yes, SJM is about female empowerment and Gwyn is absolutely going to be a badass warrior but I don't think she's ready to be a figurehead to their world (even Rhys rallied the troops in ACOWAR though Feyre was the FMC). Not to mention Gwyn has a lot of similarities to the Little Mermaid whose voice is literally a glowing ball of light when she sings just as Gwyn glows when she sings. When used by the Little Mermaid, it's simply enchanting for anyone who hears it but when used by someone evil (like Ursula) it put Eric into an almost trance where he couldn't think clearly.
For the love of any anti's reading this, GWYN IS NOT EVIL. If Gwyn is a siren of sorts, she would NEVER use her voice to deceive or trick someone she loves. However, Gwyn could use her voice against their enemies and I think this also makes Narben the best made weapon for her. If Gwyn is Az's mate, Az who lives in the shadows and has TT which is used to torture people (a pretty bloody history for a weapon), than a sword with darker powers which is lost to the sea and who would not "obey" Amarantha is kind of perfect for a water fae who can possibly call things to her.
Helion? It's not like he'd be a bad candidate except I don't think he's getting a POV. At least not one set in the present.
Elain? I'm not even going here. Elain might be capable of playing the political game in meetings and swaying people to their cause but she's not a warrior and she shouldn't have to be.
Eris or any of the other High Lords? Eris still has a journey coming up but they aren't really the focus of this series, they're all side characters. If Gwydion is going to anyone I imagine it would be one of the main people.
Lucien? If Sarah pays attention at all to names and their meaning, Gwydion has masculine origins and means "born of trees" and in ACOWAR she describes Lucien as being crafted from the forest, that the woods were his by blood and law. Gwydion is also the name of the powerful magician in the Blodeuwedd fairytale, the uncle of Lleu who created a beautiful wife out of flowers for his nephew and we already know SJM connected Elain to that particular fairytale through her Pinterest board.
I won't bore you again with all the bullet points of why Lucien would be good at unifying the courts, the human lands and the continent but the evidence is throughout the series. He's always tried to be a peace maker, never seeks out revenge, is good at talking to people and has friends everywhere. If High King is going to be a thing (at least during the war, the position itself would be disolved after) he would be an excellent candidate. He's building up to being a High Lord but has basically been training for the role his entire life and is a trained fighter.
Also, he is the son of two different courts. Connected to both Autumn (which Fionn may have been based on what we know of the Fionn from mythology and how it connects to the Autumn Court, like the hounds) and Day which means he does have the power of sunlight running through his veins. And Feyre not only reminds us of Lucien's goodness in ACOWAR but repeats that he is a good male in FAS.
As crazy as it initially sounds to connect Lucien to Gwydion and the prophecy, is it all that crazy when you consider that Az is connected to the prophecy?
Elain is getting a book, yes. But SJM has been building up Lucien's story since ACOTAR. He's got a big journey coming too. If CC3 is setting up the future of ACOTAR and part of that future includes prophecy's about weapons and the possibility of Asteri making their way to Prythian, then why would she only connect ONE of her main characters to that future?
I know people love Az and are looking forward to his story but just because Lucien isn't part of the IC (therefore not around much), he is going to be just as important to the future of the series, he has to be. If Gwynriel and Elucien are both getting books than Lucien is just as important as Az and it would actually be a little odd if Lucien wasn't eventually tied into the events of the crossover since he's one of the remaining MMC getting a POV.
I don't think he'll feature in CC3 but he'll need to be brought into the loop at some point as will Elain and the other courts and if Gwydion is left with Rhys than it's possible it could find its way into Lucien's hands from there.
With the prophecy, TT is important to Prythian's history but why? Is it the dagger used to kill Fionn? Fionn having Gwydion and Gwydion being stolen by his Queen and best friend (also general) with the dagger left behind and separated from the sword for thousands of years only to have them reunited is a bit full circle. Again, Az is important but is he truly that much more important to the series than Lucien that SJM would completely leave Lucien out of the entire crossover storyline?
SJM has been building up animosity between Lucien and Az which is going to need to be resolved considering Az is jelaous of Lucien and barely blinks at the though of killing him. There was clearly animosity between Fionn and Pelias that ended in murder and involved the theft of an important and powerful weapon.
One MMC from ACOTAR is part of the prophecy because of his connection to one weapon. Is it really that crazy to bring in a second MMC from ACOTAR as being connected to the other weapon? Especially when you consider the current setup between Az and Lucien?
There's a lot of mystery surrounding what really happened and I could be completely off base but until we get more information, many theories are going to be be flying around. But I think those that don't work within the confines of what we know about the characters (like thinking Bryce will leave her world and her mate to be with Az or Elain ending up as ruler of the Dusk Court with Az) are why some seem more farfetched to me. We also already have a series where the FMC had to correct the mistakes of those from the past (Aelin anyone?) so Bryce correcting the mistakes of Theia and /or Fionn's general by returning Gwydion wouldn't be unheard of.

Magicians, witches, wizards, sorceresses, and sorcerers. They all wielded magic in similar ways, and yet there was one thing that was constant about them. They all either attended the Magic Tower or were registered within it.
"Master!"
Two voices shout out, followed by flowing winds.
A tortoiseshell cat turns his head, ears flicking. He snorts. "There is no possible way."
In the cluttered room of the Magic Tower's owner, a tom-cat walks across the wooden boards and walks over to the window. He opens it and smiles.
Outside are two cats, a grey maine coon and a ginger tabby, floating with the help of Wind runes. The head in through the wind, and land on their feet.
"And what are you two doing here?" Ezekial, the Tower Master of the Magic Tower, asks, resting a paw on his hip.
"Willow wanted to see you." The Ginger Tabby points at the Maine Coon. "I wanted to pick up some potions."
Willow grins. "Nestor missed you. He's just too shy to admit it."
"Shut up!"
Ezekiel chuckles softly at the two bickering before he raises a paw. "That's enough, you two. Why don't you tell me the real reason why you're here?"
Nestor sighs. "Nothing gets past you." He holds up his paws. "Well, it's because of the opening of the tower happening soon. You know, when you let in new magicains, witches, wizards, sorcerers, and sorceresses?"
"I am aware, yes."
"You haven't really spoken about it." Nestor frowns. "Or made any announcement. What's wrong?"
"Mm.."
Ezekiel frowns as he looks out the window. His two formers students watch him with worry before he sighs. "If my magic is to be correct, the queen of Desiderio is soon to make her appearance. My ice magic has gotten considerably stronger as of late."
"She's- huh?!" Willow gasps, her ears flattening. "Is she really?!"
Ezekiel nods, clutching a paw. "I'm hoping to delay the opening. If Desiderio, at the very least, opens its borders before the opening of the Magic Tower, it'll be a win for us."
Nestor tilts his head. "But is that really a good thing? We don't know what'll happen. What if unwarranted attention starts going her way, or yours?"
Ezekiel smiles. "The Magic Tower is considered neutral by all kingdoms. To provoke us is to try and rattle a centuries old deal." He chuckles. "Cats are that stupid, Nestor."
"You'd be surprised.." the ginger cat mutters.
"Well, then Eros will be able to make his debut too, right?" Willow steers the conversation towards Ezekiel's son, her tail flicking.
"Eros.." Ezekiel sighs. "He's not all that interested. I don't blame him, considering how so many cats always want to know about him." He smiles gently. "So I'll let him decide."
Nestor nods before clapping his paws together. "Oh, right!" His face gets serious. "Have you heard? Songbird Nimbus's kit is apparently going to the church dedicated to Bliss a lot, lately."
The tower master hums. "Hm. Is that so?" He smiles a bit. "I've heard rumors about her. Maybe we'll get the chance to see her one of these days."
âââ
"The debut, huh.." A small calico cat flicks his tail with a small sigh. Turning away from the cracked door, Eros makes his way towards his room.
"And Songbird Nimbus's kit?" He raises a brow. "Since when she did she have a kit?"
#oc: willow#oc: nestor#oc: ezekiel the tower master#oc: eros#fanfiction: my writing!#!posts!#!efficient art!#small facts about 'em! The King's Guard
The Kingdom of Lapia is strong and unshakable, just like its monarch. But under the surface, King Gabriel is consumed with grief. He masks it well, but this cold demeanor distances him from his son, leaving it Captain Nathalieâs job to bring them back together. Having known the king since childhood, this shouldâve been an easy task for the captain of the royal guard. But will the growing threat of the Akumas -a magic-wielding group theyâd both cut ties with- make it impossible? Or could this be what reunites the royal family, and, perhaps, reveal buried feelings? Though surely in this society, a knight could never love her king.

Painful Circumstances
As Nathalieâs illness caused by the broken peacock miraculous becomes worse, Gabriel realizes the lengths he is willing to go to for her and just how much she means to him. âIt all began with a cough. It was barely a tickle at the back of her throat, one that could go mostly ignored as Nathalie went about her daily life. She didnât think too much about it at first, believing that in a few days, it would pass. However, when it didnât and instead only got worse, she still tried to ignore it. She had been doing so well lately, only having the occasional coughing fit. She was even able to walk about the Agreste manor with relative ease, although the robotic back and leg support Gabriel gave her definitely helped with that. But as the days turned into weeks, Nathalie couldnât ignore the cough any longer. It was persistent, wracking her body with each hacking spasm. She tried to hide it from those around her, not wanting to worry Gabriel or Adrien, but eventually, it became too much for even her to bear.â

Something Borrowed, Something Blue
Nathalie doesnât understand how itâs come to this. Technically she knows the entire sequence of events; how sheâd been stuck as Mayura and then caught by the heroes. Itâs just the part in which sheâd ended up marrying Gabriel Agreste still makes no sense.

The fandom is so lucky to have you! We appreciate having you here and all that you contribute to it â€ïžâ€ïž
1. What brought you into the fandom?
2. What character(s) do you feel the most connected to and why?
3. Out of all of SJMâs books, which one means the most to you and why?
4. Out of all of the SJM couples (fanon, canon, endgame, etc) which one means the most to you and why?
Keep doing you â€ïž
This is so sweet! It made my dayđ„č
1. I finished the ACOTAR series late 2023 and I was devastated to find out that it wasnât completed! Itâs soooooo hard waiting for the next installment in a series. I went through this with The Land of Stories and The Trials of Apollo too đđđ. So yeah I searched online for Elucien/pro Lucien/anti IC content and I couldnât find shit ANYWHERE. The only place I even saw some decent content was on Tumblr, so I started posting my analyses and rants and writing about ACOTAR and it turned out many people agreed with me! It was such a relief to finally find Lucien stans who also saw holes in SJMâs writing!
2. I resonate with Nesta the most. Sheâs just so relatable and human to me. First with the parental trauma (real), second with feeling like theyâve disappointed everybody because they werenât able to do things that no teen girl should have to do, pushing people away because sheâs afraid theyâll leave, spitting facts and everybody getting mad at you for it. And Nestaâs modesty: damned if you do, damned if you donât. Iâll never forgive SJM for robbing her of her modesty, but itâs honestly reflective of how women like her are treated irl. My own family wants me to be more modest (iâm already pretty damn modest) while the outside world wants me to be less modest, and itâs really frustrating being put in a box like that and not being able to be yourself. Nestaâs hard shell soft interior is me-core.
3. I think by far SJMâs best book is Tower of Dawn. The worldbuilding, the romance, the plot, the chemistry between Chaol and Yrene (and Nesryn and Sartaq) was perfection. And Chaol being a genuinely flawed and human character in a world full of Fae feeling useless and learning to grapple with himself and find his purpose and a man who had always prided himself on his body learning to see that he is so much more than that, that he is as much a man with his wheelchair as he is without it, and Yrene, a character who rules by peace and healing, not violence and destruction, showing everybody how strong she isâŠwell, itâs unlike so many of SJMâs books and she didnât write it to be popular and tropey (Chaol is wildly unpopular in the TOG fandom) which is why itâs so good.
4. My favorite SJM couple that is already confirmed endgame is Elide and Lorcan from Throne of Glass. God, I love them. Elide, the cunning little witch with a limp and innocent eyes, showing just how strong she can be, wielding Lorcanâs axe (đ) and saving him on the battlefield. Manipulating everybody with a few choice words and a flutter of her eyes. Lorcan being utterly mesmerized from the start. Being a menstruation king and taking such good care of her during her periods. Washing her clothes, bringing her dinnerâŠi mean he is so malewife. Elide being a canon ace queen who only engaged in sexual activities after she trusted and loved Lorcan so deeply that she would allow herself to be vulnerable with him. Elide being sassy as hell and Lorcan being into it. Another human, very real character who is a survivor and quite unlike any other character in the SJM-verse.
Aside from that, Ruhnlidia is đ„ and amongst those which arenât technically canon endgame yet, Elucien. The political couple. The fashion-forward couple. The charming couple. The regency couple. The brown-eyed couple. The nonviolent couple. Theyâre the only two who know theyâre mates from the start. Arranged marriage forced proximity trope. The tension, the yearning, Lucien as a fucking male leadâŠgahhhhhhhwodnwksnaklahiknj
Anyway thanks for the ask!

so i finished...
i'm even more convinced than i was before about my theory with nesta and the dusk court
' âpoor nestaâs been in the doghouse since you took their weapons and dumped us here,â ember explained. ' yeah i'm still not a fan of rhys no surprise there
nesta and ember bonding and having a moment. ember putting her hand on her cheek and telling her she'll find her way??
ember on the verge of crying when she's saying goodbye to nesta and telling her this time was a gift and she's so glad to have met her???
"she pulled nesta to her in a tight embrace, and bryce could have sworn something like pain and longing crossed nestaâs expression. like she hadnât experienced a mom-hug for a long, long time. so Bryce gave the female some privacy to enjoy every second of that motherly embrace" WHEN I TELL YOU I WAS A MESS
randall clapping nesta on the shoulder with fatherly affection?!?!?! GOD
cassian and randall must've bonded enough to call each other friends and wanting to see each other again
and bryce giving nesta the starsword/gwydion and wanting her to find out how the eight pointed star relates to her?!?! AHHHH
' and cassian, like any good mate, sensed when he wasnât wanted, and walked over to the fireplace to pretend to read some sort of old-looking manuscript. bryce knew that, also like any good mate, if she made one wrong move, heâd rip her to shreds. which was precisely why hunt had come back into the room, and was watching nesta carefully. âalphaholes,â nesta echoed, eyes gleaming with amusement. ' !!!!! i need more cassian without rhys bc i don't like how he is when he is around that man tbh rjgnrj but that's another rant for a different time
also she's definitely going to start calling these fae alphaholes thanks to bryce. ugh i love her and bryce together and i wish they couldn't gotten even more time together.
i'm just so happy for her and happy that nesta had people in her corner who came to love and appreciate her when that's normally not the case. these are the type of ppl nesta needs around her. and i'm really glad that it was cassian there with her and not the other ic members bc she deserved that happy moment without them ruining the moment.
and these are just some more moments about nesta that i really enjoyed but i didn't want to flood the dash while they were happening so i'm going to list them here...
nesta seems to more control over her powers now and isn't afraid of using them
still is described as more than just a fae. and is also described as a feline a lot i noticed.
the carvings were feeding my small theory about nesta becoming high queen but like i may be delulu but w/e it's a fun thought. and i do actually have a verse for this that i added after silver flames came out!!
nesta and the maskâŠ.az listing off all the ppl she cares about; cass, gwyn, emerie, feyre, elain, and nyx. azriel catching her and bringing her to his chest and stroking her hair, thanking the mother. azriel staying close to nesta not wanting to be farther than he could grab.
we already knew nesta could wield the dread trove to her whereever it's stored. but she was also making the mask vanish back to that place so she has powers besides the death powers??
nesta trying to comfort bryce
bryce noting nesta is the apex predator between the three of them ( az and bryce and nesta )
ânesta had distracted her enough that her focus had slipped and azriel had vanished. theyâd worked in silent perfect tandem.â az and nesta work well together and makes me wonder if they've partnered up for missions previously and if these two are the go-to duo when s/t needs to get done. there were also moments of them being back to back when fighting so they seem to have a partner thing going on
nesta fucking killing an asteri/daglan like hell yes THAT'S MY GIRL!!!
bryce telling the autumn king âi know a female who could wipe your sorry ass from existence and not break a sweatâ referring to nesta!!!
bryce notes that it was possible nesta pulled her punches
âeven with a portal between them, the ground seemed to shudder at the femaleâs powerâ nesta is still powerful af
