There’s so much I want to ask about your Brujay universe!! If Bruce is jealous with Ww I wonder how he deals with Kyle considering he and Jay were like 10 mins from hooking up lol! Mostly I want to ask about how brujay would deal with nightmares? There’s so much baggage and violence in their past that them being tender with eachother actually makes me so soft and rips at my heart….. especially with the way you write them! I would love to read your interpretation of their more soft moments!!!! I hope you have a wonderful day!!!!!
Ohh that gets the brainworms going! I think Bruce is an absolute terror when it comes to Kyle, especially once he figures out that he and Jason nearly hooked up. Everyone in the JL probably wonders what the fuck Kyle did to get Batman this hostile. Well... Until the next crises comes along that requires all hands on deck. They witness Batman stomping over to where Kyle and Red Hood are having a chat, leaving Wonder Woman mid-conversation, only to pointedly pull Red Hood close and lay a possessive arm around his waist, glaring daggers at the Green Lantern. It's absolutely ridiculous but no one dares to say a word.
As for the nightmares... God, most of the time they are unbelievably tender with each other because they understand how it feels. They never sleep with all the lights out and when one of them wakes up screaming they patiently hold the other, whispering reassurances and I-love-yous until they've calmed down, even if it takes all night. When they've both had a nightmare they cling to each other, desperate, and don't go back to sleep again. They can't because they're afraid to let the other out of their sight for even a second. After one of those nights, Bruce doesn't go to work and he and Jason spend the day at home.
The nights that test their relationship, however, are the nights either of them dreams of Ethiopia and the Joker. Jason doesn't just wake up screaming but fighting for his life and more often than not Bruce ends up having to wrestle Jason to the bed and hold him down until he finally collapses into a sobbing mess. Those nights always leave Bruce with black eyes and bruises, one time even a broken nose. Jason disappears for a few days afterwards but he always comes back.
If it's Bruce dreaming of Ethiopia he withdraws into himself completely, not speaking or eating for days on end until Jason finally forces him to. That always ends in shouting matches where Bruce turns his words into weapons, meant to cut Jason where it hurts.
The guilt Bruce feels and the way he lashes out as well the helpless anger coursing through Jason (one he can't ever really get a relief for) put a bit of a strain on their relationship for a few days after those dreams but they always pull themselves together in the end. They've found a new understanding for one another and they're too stubborn to let their issues ruin that.
~
I hope you have a amazing day! ❤️

Brujay prompt: “Have you ever kissed anyone before?”
Pt. 1
9:58PM [ Send me your location. ]
10:01PM [ seaside motel. couple miles outside the city. ] [ y? ]
10:05PM [ I'll be there in twenty. ]
The drive was uneventful. Somewhere halfway, he'd sent a text while waiting to slide through the tollbooth, asking for the room number. Jason gave it to him.
Bruce stepped out of the car and into the motel parking lot, heat thrumming in his veins.
He could still turn around. There was time for him to get back in his car and return to Gotham, pretend like this hadn't happened. If even one person crossed his path, he might. The presence of another person would break the tenuous, selfish thread he'd bound between himself and the object of his affections.
The door to room 212 opened after three rapid knocks.
Jason didn't seem surprised to see him. He stood there in nothing but a pair of cotton sleep pants, posture a lazy slouch. He'd dried his hair, left the shock of white to curl across his forehead. The motel air conditioning rattled, wafting the scent of cheap soap and gunmetal off of him.
Bruce found himself staring at the neat scar bisecting his chest. The Y-incision should have filled him with familiar, crushing guilt. More proof of his greatest failure, forever haunting him. Should have. All he wanted was to press his teeth to the raised skin and thank every god he knew that Jason was alive.
After several long moments, his eyes swept up and when he met Jason's gaze, it stole his breath away.
His eyes were blue fire, an inferno hot enough to put Hell to shame. The firestorm ringed pupils large with unabashed desire, want written plainly in his stare. There was a flush tinting the sharp arch of his cheekbones, threatening to spill down his neck.
"I take it that Harper isn't here."
Jason's tongue darted across his lips. His mouth turned up at the corner in a familiar, cheeky grin.
"Photos weren't for him anyway," he said all too casually, as if he hadn't just cut an artery before a starving predator.
Bruce physically felt his self-control snap.
He palmed Jason's nape, noting the tension in his shoulders appear and disappear just as quickly. Years of vigilance overpowered by a truly staggering amount of trust. That alone felt like enough to cripple him.
Bruce dragged him in close. Jason's breath stuttered. He grabbed at his forearms, calloused hands gripping wrinkles into the fine fabric of his suit. They were close enough Bruce could almost hear the rabbit-fast beat of his heart and smelled the mint of his toothpaste.
His free hand found Jason's hip, slotting his thumb into the space right above the bone like it was a pressure point made for him. His wayward disciple listed forward, mouth open and eyes lidded.
Bruce hummed.
"Have you kissed someone before?" he asked, equal parts curious and teasing.
Jason made a frustrated noise in the back of his throat, squeezing his upper arms almost painfully hard.
"Course I have," he muttered gruffly. "Takes a guy a lotta courage t' try an' seduce Batman, y'know."
"Is that what this was?"
"Bruce."
Something in him fractured at the sound of his name in that desperate tone. He'd never heard Jason like this, breathless and needy.
Bruce kissed him like he meant to eat him alive.

Through Hidden Eyes
Tumblr media
He sat there, reflective, not really looking at anything in particular. His heart ached a bit more as he recalled how everything he said seemed to hurt Jason more and more. He let his mind wander a bit, feeling the phantom sensation of Jason’s firm fingers on his jaw. A wicked shiver ran through his body, and he shuddered for a moment.
However, before his mind dared to wander too far, he felt his wristwatch vibrate.
‘Motion detected,’ the small screen informed.
He looked down, typed a PIN below his desk drawer, unlocking it. From inside, he pulled out a Wayne-tech tablet and accessed the camera that provided a view of the kitchen in Jason’s house.
He had arrived.
Pairing: Jason Todd × Bruce Wayne (brujay);
Rating: explicit (sexual content);
1/2 chapters (ongoing).

Tagged by @deepwithintheabyss forever ago, sorry it took so long!
You're going down (on me) [Titans JayGar]
“I’m gonna get you next time.”
Maybe, Maybe [BruJay]
Jason is upset when he storms up to his room, slamming the door as loudly as possible and throwing himself onto the bed.
Protocol [BruJay, BruJayDick]
Later, Jason won’t even remember how he got a drugged, uncoordinated, and fucking heavy Batman into the Batmobile.
Sometimes you bleed just to know you're alive [BruJay]
Bruce tries to fight it.
What Would You Trade the Pain For? (I'm Not Sure) [BruJay]
It’s always a warehouse.
A Very Good Bad Thing [JaySlaDick]
Dick is coming off the back of a suspicious few weeks of relative peace in Bludhaven when he catches word that Red Hood is lurking around the Southside Dockyards.
Lessons Learned [BruJay]
The first time, Jason is pretty sure it’s an accident.
What Happened Doesn't Change Anything [BruJay]
When Bruce wakes, the sheets are still warm.
Redemption Lies Plainly In Truth [Titans Jason & Tim]
It was obvious that Jason was struggling with this case from the moment Tim pulled up in Gotham, but Tim somehow still doesn't clock the building panic attack until after they've found the missing kid.
Don't Take the Fast Road [Titans Jason & Tim]
When Dick first suggested Jason break the new Robin in, Jason was understandably a little dubious.
I don't know if I see any patterns, really! Throwing readers in mid-scenario, maybe? 😆

Youthful Mistakes
BruJay Rated E has underage Bruce (age 15), second hand embarrassment via bad flirting, incest discussed but also batcest, and gratuitous thirsting over Jason. Smut is under the cut so feel free to read the first chunk cause it's sex free though heavy on the other stuff. *Warning Note: Bruce makes some hetero assumptions about himself that results in misgendering Jason (it's not malicious but just in case you're sensitive to that in any form...)
------------------------------------
When he opens his eyes, he doesn't realize that anything is wrong. He wakes up in his room and for a moment thinks it's the same one that he left behind. The decoration is the most obvious and first giveaway, from the items on his nightstand to the color of his bedsheets. Everything's just a little bit off.
He used to sleep with navy colored sheets, and instead he finds himself in pitch black ones. The items on his night's stand are different from the ones he left behind. And as if that isn't enough, they're placed oddly, in places he wouldn't want them. Like if he reached out he wouldn't be able to reach every single item, the way he usually would. The addition of a strangely out of place bottle doesn't make much sense either.
He doesn't know what to think of it and proceeds to get out of bed. The second his feet touch the slippers he knows that something is really wrong. At fifteen he considers himself quite grown up, but he knows that he wouldn't wear slippers two sizes too big. He looks around for his belongings. Before he allows panic to creep in he calls out for Alfred. If anyone can fix things it's his butler and only family member.
“Master Bruce what's-” The man cuts himself off as he takes a look at his young ward.
He's surprised as well, not expecting the years of extra age on the other man's face as he walks in. Before they can really get into the details of what's going on, another voice comes through the door followed by a dark haired blue eyed man saunterring into the room.
“Hey B I know you-” he cuts himself off the way Alfred did, though his face shows much more of the shock he feels.
Bruce doesn't know this strange man but he refuses to deal with the crazy situation while wearing pajamas.
“Why don't I meet you both downstairs to discuss things over breakfast?” He says the question coming out as more of a command.
Both men agree and when Bruce drags homeless into the bathroom he's just happy to find it doesn't look too different. He quickly gets ready and heads down the stairs, noting odd differences as he makes his way through the house. The thing that stands out is the rooms. Growing up most of the rooms were empty, and while many still are he noticed several in the family wing happened to be occupied.
He wonders what this could mean thinking it unlikely that so many strangers could invade his house overnight. When he arrives at the breakfast table he's shocked to find not only Alfred and the stranger from before but also a horde of other young adults. He quickly seats himself at the head of the table and begins his interrogation.
“ Who are you people? He asks.
The stranger from before starts. We're kind of your family. We don't know what happened to you but Bruce, our Bruce isn't a child.
“I’m not a child, I'm fifteen years old” he interrupts.
“Fifteen, right,” the man says with a smirk on his face, “but he's significantly older than that. So I'm sure you can understand how bizarre it is for us all to see you like this.”
“Maybe we should tell him our names,” says a blonde girl in a bright purple sweater. She looks exhausted, though they all do now that he looks at them.
“Right, well I'm Dick,” the stranger- Dick- starts before going around the table. Bruce can't imagine having so many children and wonders where his wife is. Obviously some of the kids can't possibly be his biologically, the idea of having so many is just absurd. But either they're his step-children or he and his wife adopted them.
Before he can ask about the details Duke derails him by asking “ Okay but how does B get turned into a teen? I feel like we should have noticed that after patrol or heard him mention getting hit by magic or something.”
Dick gets a pensive look, before Tim pipes up “He was patrolling with Jay last night, anything could have happened while they were out.”
Bruce wonders what they're talking about and interrupts. “Wait, magic? Patrolling? What are you talking about? Am I a police officer or something?”
They all pause and look at one another before Damian explains.
“ No father, obviously your dreams of becoming a crime-fighting vigilante have finally paid off. Here you are some twenty years into the future, and not only do you fight crime as Batman, you also have a team of mostly incompetent sidekicks, who are supporting you. Plus me, as I'm currently your Robin.”
Pandemonium erupts at the table as coffee is placed down and breakfast is forgotten. Everyone is shooting over one another about how they aren't incompetent or how bad someone else is. It's all a bit overwhelming, but Bruce figures that's what having a big family is like. He's never had one before, but he supposes all things considered, he got himself a pretty nice one. They're a fun bunch of people, although he can't imagine dealing with them on a daily basis.
He supposed having a wife to help calm them down makes things easier. Then he remembers the mysterious J they mentioned earlier. Could this perhaps be the wife he's looking for? After all Dick referred to him as B, so maybe that's just how they refer to their parents. They might not want to be going around calling them mom and dad, not comfortable yet as they're more recently adopted, he's not sure. But he figures, it doesn't hurt to ask about the woman's whereabouts.
“So where is J? Maybe that's where our answers lie.”
“Hard to say Jay likes to disappear and do whatever before showing back up on a whim,” Dick responds.
Bruce doesn't like the sound of such a flighty woman but he supposed she must have redeeming qualities. Before he can ask more questions a gorgeous man storms in. Bruce had never thought men were beautiful before, but the tall, broad shouldered man with green-blue eyes and black curly hair can only be described as beautiful. He feels his palms sweat and checks to make sure he isn't drooling as the man removes his leather jacket to reveal tight fitting gear that accentuates his muscular torso. Bruce is brought back to reality when the fork holding a bite of breakfast platters back onto the plate.
The man looks up and meets Bruce's eye before a look of surprise crosses his face. It's quickly gone as he asks “What the hell did you idiots do to B?”
The sound of his deep gravelly voice had heat in Bruce's chest expanding to cover his face. He can't imagine how he met such a dazzling man.
“Sorry I didn't catch your name? Who are you?”
“Oh, that's Jason. Like I said you were patrolling with him last night.”
Bruce can't believe his luck. This was the J they had spoken of. Before thinking about it too hard he asked “What's someone as gorgeous as you doing fighting crime?”
He wants the floor to open up and swallow him as the stupidest line he's ever heard comes out of his mouth. The rest of the table seems to feel the same as the sound of various people choking follows his question. Jason is lucky enough not to have anything to choke on, but he does turn a startling shade of red. Alfred on the other hand lets out a disapproving ‘Master Bruce’ at the comment.
“Do you not know who I am?” Jason finally asks as the table settles down a bit.
“My husband of course. I mean, why wouldn't I want to be married to someone so perfect. Besides our children made it clear that-”
“Actually B, we did no such thing” Dick interrupts at the look Jason sends him, “Jason not your husband he's your son.”
The words hit Bruce like a sucker punch. The horror of being attracted to his own flesh and blood causing revulsion to bubble up. He doesn't know what to do. He can't possibly back track, although he supposes not having made any salacious comments helps. What doesn't help is that he's still imagining what Jason would look like bare beneath him.
“I'm so sorry,” he says, not knowing if future Bruce feels the same way he does, but knowing that he doesn't want to ruin his own life like that.
“It's fine, you clearly didn't know and it's not like you hit on Damian or something.”
“Don't even joke about that Todd.” Damian calls out.
Bruce isn't sure if it's really fine, but brushes it off.
“Moving away from the traumatic moment, do you not remember anything from last night?” Duke asks Jason.
“Nothing. We had a normal patrol then parted ways. No one even had a chance to use magic or some weird toxin on him.”
“I guess we'll have to run a few tests in the cave then,” says Dick.
They all seem to silently agree and finish breakfast. For the next few hours Bruce gets to explore the Batcave while he waits for the results. After they find something in his system Dick and Tim immerse themselves in finding a cure. The others head to sleep and eventually swap places with Tim and Dick.
When Jason returns, so do Bruce's feelings of shame. The man is still as attractive as he had been that morning, and even in jeans and a t-shirt he looks like a model. Bruce tries his best to keep his eyes off the man but after being caught a few times looking Jason seems to lose patience and comes over.
“Look I get that this morning was awkward but if it helps I'm pretty sure you've seen everyone do something way more embarrassing. Also, we would have found something to tease you over regardless. So, if you want to be normal and just come join Steph and I, we promise we're not going to bite.”
Bruce tried his best to not stare at Jason's chest while he's talking but with their height difference all he can do is valiantly try to take in what Jason says as his chest moves with each breath he takes.
“Y-yeah sounds good,” he manages to stutter out while making eye contact and then follows Jason towards the Batcomputer. Being behind him isn't helping his hard-on, as the man's perfectly sculpted ass is in perfect view as they walk.
Bruce feels like this is a punishment for something. Before long Jason stands to get a drink, and the second he's gone Steph speaks up.
“You really need to be less obvious about your feelings for him. This is a house full of detectives and You're going to be teased relentlessly, if you keep this up.”
“What are you talking about? I'm not- What do you even mean? I'm not being obvious.”
“Sure you were, I mean, first of all those comments this morning. Wow, I’ve never seen someone have so much audacity with so little knowledge. Not to mention the way you're practically drooling over Jay.”
“I'm not! He's my son so obviously I'm not interested.” He knows the indignation in his voice isn't really helping him, but he can't help but to lash out.
“Okay,” Stephanie says “first of all, he's not biologically your son, you just adopted him when he was like 13. So, it's not as bad as like, being interested in Damian or something.”
“Plus,” she continues “everyone knows Jason's liked you since forever, it's just that you're so unapproachable he's never bothered.”
Bruce feels significantly better at the knowledge that Jason isn't his flesh and blood, but doesn't like the way he's been described. Why would future Bruce be unapproachable? Wouldn't he want Jason to feel comfortable making a move.
He doesn't know what his deal is, but a plan to seduce Jason into a relationship begins forming.
‐--------------------------
Later that night they still haven't found a cure and have tried calling a magic user in to help. This Zatanna is unavailable though, which helps Bruce quite a bit. The group goes out patrolling while he stays in ‘watching a movie’. In reality he's preparing to get Jason to give him a chance.
The man had agreed to stay in the manor until Bruce is back to normal and Bruce is grateful to Stephanie for her support with that. She managed to get Jason to stay without having Bruce expose his interest. He understood why future Bruce liked her, her sneakiness was definitely endearing.
When Jason finally drags himself to his room Bruce is waiting for him. He was too nervous to do something bold like wait naked on the man's bed, but he did wait in a robe. It hung to his knees and was silky and black. He had researched how sex between two men worked, with Steph helping him figure out modern technology.
He hasn't been sure if Jason would want to bottom or not so he had just brought the lube he found in his nightstand and hoped he even got that far.
Jason entered shirtless and wearing only a pair of low hanging sweatpants. The sight of him had Bruce nervous of being rejected, but despite his trepidation he stayed awkwardly seated on the bed facing the door. Jason barely startled before asking “What the hell are you doing here?”
“I- Well I came to- to see if you might be interested? In spending the night with me?” Bruce wishes he could face-palm without making things worse. He had never stuttered as much as he had in the less than twenty-four hours that he had known Jason. He was starting to realize that future Bruce might be ‘unapproachable’ because he knew he wouldn’t be able to string a  single coherent sentence in Jason’s presence.
Despite he verbal blunder Jason seemed to consider his offer before saying, “Fuck it, I’ll probably never get the chance again.” With that he made his way over to the bed, gently pushed Bruce until he lay flat on his back, and then proceeded to kiss him breathless.
Bruce had kissed a few girls before, but the contrast of having a stubbled jaw and skilled technique made the experience something completely alien. He didn’t want to fuck his one shot up, and froze. Jason pulled back to check on him.
“If you’ve changed your mind we can stop.”
“No! It’s not that I just…”
“Is this your first time?” Jason looked a bit apprehensive so Bruce was quick to reassure.
“No, it’s just that I’ve only ever kissed girls. It’s just different and I got nervous.”
“If you're sure,” Jason said, his voice hesitant and skeptical but he still kissed Bruce again.
When their lips reunited Bruce was determined to use his limited knowledge to prove himself and began kissing back, making sure to not lay there stiff and motionless.
The kissing continued as Jason crawled onto the bed, his bulk brushing but being laid fully on Bruce. While he liked the kissing Bruce figured he should encourage things along, making sure Jason knew he hadn’t changed his mind. He began by placing his hands on Jason’s waist, his fingers digging into the soft skin littered with scars.
As his hands shifted down to Jason’s hips he started dipping his fingers under the waistband of the sweats, dragging them down over the curve of Jason’s ass. He stopped for a moment just basking in the feeling of the flesh under his hands before fully pushing the pants down to Jason’s knees along with his underwear.
The man pulls back, quickly shucking off the clothes before opening Bruce’s robe. He feels a sudden spike of self-consciousness, unsure if his body compares to the one Jason knows, but in the end he has nothing to fear. The feeling of lips kissing down his chest soothes any insecurity away, and the bolt of arousal that having Jason nip at his inner thigh produces has him panting and writhing on the sheets.
He’s pushed further onto the bed as Jason climbs back on, and before he can get too distracted he pulls the bottle of lube from his robe pocket and throws the scrap of fabric off the bed in a ball.
“How do you want to do this?” he asks, knowing that regardless he’d enjoy every moment with Jason.
“Tempting as it would be to finally have you buried inside me, I think I’ll top this time. Older you might not be as willing to bottom if he gives me a second chance.”
“He sounds kinda boring.”
“Nah he’s just not comfortable with feeling vulnerable, and it’s hard not to understand his reason.”
“I can’t imagine not being able to trust you.”
“Yeah, well you don’t really know me.” This last statement seems to make Jason’s interest wane in their activities so Bruce is quick to pull him back into the moment.
He pulls Jason forward and presses their lips together in another kiss, “I don’t care what you’ve done, I know that what I feel for you is greater than that.” He knows the words sound hollow, but there’s this feeling in his chest that it’s true that somehow older him feels that way.
Regardless of whether he believes Bruce or not Jason seems to focus on the present as he continues their kissing and begins slicking up his fingers with the lube. Bruce is quick to arrange the pillows to get into the best position, his lips breaking away from Jason’s for a few moments. Finally he feels ready and with a nod of consent Jason places his fingers at his rim.
He assumes that the man will push in right away and tries his best to relax his body, which just makes him feel tighter and tenser in his perception. Instead he feels the digit circling his entrance, gently dipping in less than an inch and then pulling back out.
The feeling of something finally being pushed inside for the first time is startling but not painful. As the first finger becomes two then three, Bruce starts to relax and trust Jason to care for him. When he feels like he might come from the fingering alone Jason pulls out and lines himself up.
He drips more lube onto his palm and slathers his hard length with it before pushing in until his tip has breached Bruce’s rim. The thrust of Jason's cock head into his body has Bruce clawing the man's back and sides. It's rougher than Bruce expected but he can't feel anything other than completion as Jason bottoms out, the lube doing a great deal of the heavy lifting in terms of his comfort..
They kiss passionately as Bruce adjusts to the feeling of being full, then Jason begins thrusting shallowly. The movement has his chest, which is already pressed against Bruce's face, bouncing in the most titillating display.
He cups the man's tits, unable to stop himself from sticking the nipple of one into his mouth while his fingers pinched the other. The bud perked up into a sharp point, the skin becoming rosy as Jason thrust into the hilt and had Bruce seeing stars from how good it felt.
He knew Jason was hitting his prostate but the clinical knowledge that it would feel good was nothing compared to the reality. He doesn't remember releasing Jason's nipples, but he knows he must have as he throws his head back while coming. He comes back to himself with his arms wrapped around Jason's waist as the man keeps giving into him in brutal hard thrusts that have him whimpering in oversensitivity.
When Jason finally cums, the feeling of hot cum flooding his ass pushes Bruce over the edge and makes him cum a second time. He didn't think such a thing was possible, but as they lay in the afterglow Jason teases him over having a ‘dry orgasm’.
Bruce cuddles close to his Jason, not bothering to respond as he falls asleep, head pillowed on the man's plush chest.
When he wakes the memories of the previous day and more importantly the night before flood adult Bruce's mind. He lays across Jason's chest, the man's warm arms wrapped around his waist. He wonders if he should get up and face the music but decides that he can deal with the consequences later.
-------------------------------
Later comes far too soon for Bruce’s liking as Dick, of all people, storms in frantically searching for Bruce. He freezes at the sight of him returned to his adult self and then quickly back pedals out sensing that he doesn’t want anything to do with what’s about to unfold. Dick’s entrance after all has woken Jason.
The look of confusion on the man’s face turns to mild alarm at the realization of just who he’s wrapped like an octopus around. Before he can freak out and shove Bruce away, Bruce speaks.
“I’m not mad about yesterday. And yes I remember what happened last night so you don’t have to worry.”
“Are you sure? Because it feels like I took advantage-”
“No, of course not. I’ve…” Bruce remembers his thought from the previous night about how hard speaking around Jason can be at times and reflects that he’ll need to improve on that. Well that and talking about feelings.
He figures he can only win one battle at a time so he stumbles his way through a confession of feelings.
“I uh know that our relationship has been strained or complicated but I, well the truth is that a lot of that is my fault-”
“A lot? How about all of it!” Jason interrupts.
Bruce glares at him before replying “It’s hard enough to talk about feelings without being interrupted. So if you could shut up for five minutes I’ll finish my love confession and you can yell at me about my flaws.”
“Now,” he continues after his mini-rant “as I was saying I-”
Jason interrupts him again, although he finds himself hard pressed to care as he’s kissed until he can barely breathe and then fucked into the mattress for the second time in the last twelve hours. As they lay in the afterglow he wonders if he can get a third round to finally have Jason riding him, it had been a fantasy of his for the last few weeks after all.

I keep encountering antis in the wild so far my favorite one has been the one who was frothing over Jaytim shippers. "Just because they're not technically brothers"!
Friend they're not technically nor non-technically brothers. They weren't raised together. They don't have a brother dynamic.
"It's different from DickBabs and TimSteph!" Not really! You're just cherrypicking!
90% of antis use anti rhetoric to justify why their ship is better/more valid than another, not because they really care about things they deem immoral or whatever, and I think a lot of Fandom Discourse tends to miss that by a long shot.
Like more often than not it's just bitches digging for reasons why their OTP is the only ship that can be shipped, therefore if you ship something else You're Wrong and the ship you ship shouldn't even exist. They use arguments on morality and such because they're hard to argue with - lots of folks don't know what to say when they're faced with "don't ship X and Y cause it's harmful and abusive!", "you're hurting victims of SA and grooming by shipping X and Y!" - and what happens is that they get scared out of the ships/topics they like and stop engaging actively with fanworks. Sometimes they rationally or subconsciously realize that it works, so they end up even adopting the same rhetoric as it's really fucking convenient: being on the moral high horse is delicious because people feel like it automatically puts them in the category of the good guys, therefore everyone else is a bad guy and they can harass them and send them death threats, even if it's just about shipping fictional characters.
I've seen this happen in basically every single fandom I've been in since I was 12 (and I am Not Young™), and I've seen the most unexpected people use anti rhetoric while not being antis themselves, or even labeling themselves as proshippers, but they would still use anti arguments to "legitimize" their ship and claim how and why it was better than others in the same fandom. Instead of just... saying that one ship in particular is not for them. Tbh lately I'm only trusting multi-shippers not to pull anti bullshit out of their ass, and this niche of the DC fandom is really a safe haven. But I digress.
One of the things that really pisses me off the most is the rampant homophobia. Going by generic anti logic Jaydick is incest, but Dickbabs isn't. Jaytim is incest, Timsteph isn't. Brudick, Brujay, Brutim are all incestuous ships - except Bruce and Barbara isn't. The het ship is fine would you look at that. Childhood friends to lovers is alright with pop culture as long as it's a man and a woman, because if it's two men they'll immediately scream incest and abuse (lumping them together too, while they're also not the same thing ffs). Because hiding behind anti mentality and purity culture there's the big bad monster of queerphobia, which shows its ugly face the moment you take a peek below the surface.
And since I feel like this isn't being said enough. Dick and Jason ARE NOT BROTHERS. Neither are Dick and Tim, or Dick and Damian, Jason and Damian, Jason and Tim, I could go on. These people are not related, not by blood or legally, not in any way that matters and would make it incest. They're a legacy of characters who wear the same cowl for narrative reasons, and THAT'S IT.
Calling Jaydick "incest" irks me to no freaking end because I LOVE incest ships, I am DOWN BAD for them, and this one ain't it chief. They're not related. They didn't grow up together. They don't share any brotherly bond except a vague "brothers in arms" kinda thing. People decided this at some point in order to have an argument why their plastic prepackaged het ships were better than the Bad Abusive (gay) ones, because they're fucking homophobes, and that is about it.
And that's what I really want to say to all the young, queer antis that parrot the terfs and homophobes that pushed them in that direction. They are taking away a space that is YOURS TOO. They fucking HATE YOU. They hate you because you're queer, gay, bi, pan, ace, trans, nonbinary, a woman, even just a teen. Purity culture and anti mentality is how they keep you under control, tied to their morality leash and making life miserable to every other queer person that refuses to conform and refuses to shut up and to stop enjoying fiction for the harmless, but also valuable thing that it is.

(it's brujay and dick walking in just like the poll ordered)
It was late—later than Dick usually visited Wayne Manor—but he really had to talk to Bruce about a case. The house was quiet, dimly lit, as he moved through the hallways, his footsteps muted on the thick carpet. He knew where to find Bruce if he wasn’t out patrolling the streets as Batman—either in his office, his bedroom or pacing in the library.
As he passed by Bruce’s bedroom door, slightly ajar, a sound caught his attention. A low murmur, followed by a sharp, muffled breath. Dick paused, his brow furrowing. He wasn’t sure what he had heard but it piqued his curiosity. The door was open, just enough to invite a glance, and before he could think better of it, he stepped closer. His hand lightly touched the wood, pushing the door open just an inch more.
That’s when he saw them.
Bruce was on his knees in front of Jason. His hair was a mess, and his mouth—oh god, his mouth—was on Jason. Jason, leaning back on the bed, shirt half undone, his chest rising and falling rapidly, eyes glazed over with something dark and intense. And then Jason looked up, and his gaze locked with Dick’s.
For a second, Dick felt paralyzed—completely rooted to the ground. His mind refused to process what he was seeing. Jason’s expression shifted slowly into a smug, self-satisfied smirk. He looked like the cat that got the cream.
Dick’s heart slammed into his ribcage, the heat rising to his face. He should have walked away the second he realized what he walked into. But instead he was frozen, couldn’t tear his eyes away from the scene in front of him.
Jason’s smirk widened, his fingers intertwining with Bruce’s dark hair, as his eyes gleamed. “Well, well,” he drawled and his voice had an infuriating satisfaction to it. “Didn’t expect an audience, but hey, if you’re into it, Dick, you’re welcome to watch.”
Bruce immediately pulled back at that, and there was a brief moment where his eyes flickered with panic. It was a rare thing to see. He rose slowly, straightening his shirt in the process, trying to look more presentable, but the effort was in vain. Bruce looked like a disheveled mess.
“Dick—” Bruce started, his voice was hoarse. “This isn’t—”
But he stopped himself, because what excuse could possibly make this better? What story could he conjure up that would make sense? No attempted lie would change the fact that Dick had just caught him with Jason in that position.
Dick’s stomach twisted; he almost felt sick. He opened his mouth to say something, but no words came out. This wasn’t something he had ever expected to see. Not from Bruce. Not from the man who lived after his rules, codes and morals. He was such a hypocrite.
Jason didn’t even have the decency to look embarrassed. He pulled his pants up lazily, his lips curling into an amused smile. “What’s the matter, Dick?” he said, his voice is silky smooth. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Dick’s jaw tightened at that, his fists clenching at his sides. He wanted to wipe that smug look off Jason’s face but he also didn’t want to take the clear bait he was dangling right in front of him.
“Jason, that’s enough,” Bruce said, sounding weary, no strength behind his words. The guilt was written all over his face; he looked like he wanted to exit the room without saying anything else. Just sweep it under the rug and never acknowledge it again.
Jason, on the other hand, was completely unfazed. He slowly sat up, his shirt still hanging open, exposing the bare skin beneath. “What?” he said with a shrug, casting a sideways glance at Bruce. “What’s the point in lying, Bruce? You can’t talk your way out of this. He literally saw you, on your knees…”
“Jason…” Bruce tried again, this time there was a silent plea in his tone.
A bitter taste settled in Dick’s mouth. Of all the people, why Jason? He couldn’t understand it. Jason had been the source of conflict in the family several times. He had always been trouble, never following the rules, never respecting Bruce’s code. And now, Jason was the one Bruce was kneeling for?
Dick couldn’t help but feel betrayed in a way, and he hated it. It was like Jason had some kind of hold over Bruce that the rest of them couldn’t understand. He wanted to understand.
“Why him, Bruce?” he asked, his voice came out quieter than he had expected. “Of all people, why Jason?”
Bruce didn’t answer right away. Instead, he focused on buttoning his shirt, as if that mundane task could somehow shield him from Dick’s question—like avoiding eye contact would make all of this disappear. But Dick wasn’t going to let it go.
“How long has this been going on?” he pressed, though part of him wasn’t sure if he really wanted to know. What if it had been happening for years? What if it had started when Jason was still Robin? What if Bruce had taken advantage of him back then? The thought made him feel sick.
His thoughts spiraled, and Jason’s infuriating smirk widened in the background. He shifted lazily on the bed, propping himself up on his elbows, clearly reveling in both Bruce and Dick’s discomfort.
Dick gaze flicked between them as he waited for an answer. Bruce’s shame was written across his face, but then, in an instant, it was gone. His expression shifted, the mask of composure sliding back into place. Bruce Wayne was a master at this—pretending everything was fine, even when it clearly wasn’t.
“Yeah, Bruce—how long has it been going on?” Jason purred from the bed.
“I know what you’re thinking, Dick. But it’s not like that. It’s… complicated,” Bruce finally speaks.
“Complicated?” Dick scoffed. “It didn’t look all that complicated from where I was standing.”
Jason chuckled under his breath like it was a joke, but Dick chose to ignore his presence for the time being and focused on getting an honest answer from Bruce. Though during normal circumstances, that was usually quite the difficult task. To get it now seemed impossible. Bruce clenched his jaw, and for a moment, Dick thought he wasn’t going to say anything at all. The silence seemed to stretch between them until he spoke, his voice strained.
“It wasn’t like that when he was Robin,” Bruce said and glanced toward Jason.
Their eyes met and Dick watched them, he couldn’t tell what the look between them meant. He also wasn’t sure if he believed Bruce’s words. The unspoken connection between them made his stomach twist even more. Something was wrong with all of this—deeply wrong. The way they looked at each other, the way Bruce hesitated before answering, it was like a part of the story was being left out.
But then memories came rushing back. Memories that at the time didn’t seem suspicious or out of the ordinary, but when placed together, one by one…
That one time when Jason had left the manor in a fit of anger—after one of their countless arguments—and Bruce had disappeared for hours, leaving Dick and Alfred to worry. He’d come back late and Jason had returned with him, calmer somehow. Bruce had brushed it off as nothing, saying they had “talked it out” but now, thinking back on it, Dick wondered what really happened that night.
Another memory that took place at Wayne Manor during a party. Jason had been in a suit and Bruce had stepped in close, adjusting his collar, fingers brushing against Jason’s neck as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Jason had looked up at him through his eyelashes, eyes linger just a second too long. It had seemed innocent at the time, nothing more than a mentor and his protégé.
Dick remembered a time when Jason had been upset after a mission went sideways. He had stormed into the Manor, seething with anger, but later that night, when Dick passed by Bruce’s bedroom, he noticed Jason sitting on the edge of Bruce’s bed. Bruce was standing nearby, close, too close, speaking in a low voice that Dick couldn’t hear. The way Bruce’s hand rested on Jason’s shoulder, a thumb gently brushing over his collarbone, should have raised some concerns. But he didn’t think about it back then.
“You’re not being completely honest with me, are you?” Dick sighed.
Bruce’s shoulders stiffened. His jaw clenched so tight that Dick could see the muscles straining under his skin.
“It’s complicated,” he repeated, and Dick scoffed. That wasn’t good enough. It didn’t even come close to an explanation, and he felt like Bruce owned him one after everything that had happened.
A question had been clawing at the back of his mind ever since he stepped into this mess, and he couldn’t stop himself from asking it. “Are you…?”
But before he could finish his sentence, Jason cut him off, the smirk suddenly gone and replaced by something harder and sharper. His voice came out tense, almost defensive. “Don’t.”
The sudden shift in Jason’s tone caught Dick off guard. Jason, who moments ago had been relishing in their discomfort, suddenly looked almost… afraid. His fingers dug into the edge of the bed, his jaw set, eyes flashing with something Dick couldn’t read as they darted skittishly toward Bruce.
Dick frowned, looking between them. But then it hit him. Jason didn’t want him to ask. He didn’t want the truth, didn’t want the words to come out because whatever answer Bruce might give could break whatever fragile thing they had. He didn’t want to know if Bruce was in love with him. Dick almost felt bad for Jason—almost.
“Why don’t you want me to ask?” Dick questioned, even though he had already figured it out.
Jason’s eyes flared with anger. He opened his mouth like he was about to snap back, but no words came out. For the first time in a long while, he looked almost vulnerable. The smug mask he always wore was slipping.
“Shut up, Dick.”
Vocalizing the question would be like throwing in a live grenade. But he wasn’t going to back down. Dick looked over to Bruce, eyes narrowing. “So? Are you in love with him?”
Bruce’s gaze wavered, and the silence that followed was deafening. Jason wasn’t looking at either of them. His eyes were fixed on the floor, no amusement glistening in them, and the smug smile was long gone from his lips.
Bruce finally spoke and his voice was uncharacteristically quiet. “It’s… not that simple.”
Jason flinched at that; it was barely noticeable but Dick had seen it. It seemed like the words had hurt him. The vulnerability looked so foreign on Jason, and it felt almost more unsettling than anything else.
“Then make it simple, Bruce,” Dick muttered. “I’m not a mind reader.”
Jason then looked up from the ground, stared daggers into Dick and his voice was cold when he addressed him. “This isn’t about you, Dick. You have nothing to do with this.”
Dick let out a hollow laugh, his frustration boiling over. “Nothing to do with me? Are you serious? This—this whole mess— it affects all of us! You’re both acting like this is some isolated thing between the two of you, but it’s not. You think this doesn’t affect the family?”
Jason stood up from the bed with a sneer over his lips. “Please enlighten me on how this is going to affect your precious little family in any way. None of you had any idea, and it’s been years. Such a great detective there, golden boy.”
Dick’s blood was boiling at this point. Jason always knew exactly how to get under his skin. He turned to Bruce as if it would be easier to have a conversation with him, not like he had spent the last minutes trying to pull and drag bits of information and honest answers from him. But it was better than dealing with Jason.
“You always talk about trust, Bruce. But how can I possibly trust you when I find out that you’ve been lying? Hiding this from all of us, betraying everything you taught us—everything you stood for. You always drilled into us that we were supposed to be better. That we were supposed to follow your code. And you throw that all out? For what? Him?”
The word him came out like a loaded accusation. But instead of responding immediately, Bruce went quiet. His gaze shifted to Jason and their eyes met.
It wasn’t just a glance. It lingered. Their eyes locked together. Dick saw it, and even though he couldn’t read Bruce’s mind, he knew him too well. It was like Bruce had crossed an invisible line without saying a word. His expression softened slightly.
Jason, for once, didn’t smirk or sneer back. His posture shifted, a flicker of something just as soft passing across his face. He was locked on Bruce, as if waiting—maybe even hoping—for something.
And that’s when it hit Dick like a punch to the gut.
He wasn’t just standing in the middle of some dirty secret or casual affair. This wasn’t just about lust or weakness. This was something deeper, and it confirmed what Dick had asked him earlier.
Bruce was in love with Jason, and from the way Jason looked back at him, it was clear he felt the same.

@spinnerofink I was trying to answer your ask but Tumblr ate it, so this the next best thing (don't worry, I didn't have to re write the answer)
So there we go!
For you let's ramble on the Brujay time travel fic (that may or may not become a brujaykhoa, for reasons)
Also I apologize for any typos, weird tenses, etc, this isn't meant to be a clean piece.
So the basic idea started with me being salty with a fic I was reading, it was a Tim time travel fic and I was like: Jason would work better with this idea (not offense to the original writer, just personal taste) and well things spiraled.
So the idea is that a 30+ years old Jason from after a zombie apocalypse (sort of inspired by DCdeceased but not really has I haven't read it yet), ends up around 25 years in the past, when the first dinamic duo is still going strong and his younger counter part is just 9 years old.
I have the barest idea for a plot, just Jason comes back in time and while he does the classic preventing future tragedies thing, he also take over crime alley has it's protector, and becomes something of a mentor for many future heros because he doesn't want any more dead kids.
The Brujay part comes in because Bruce will hear about this new vigilante in "his" city and start obsessing has he does, he will try to control Jason and impose his morals (no killing etc). But this Jason has much more experience over Bruce and doesn't bow down to his wims, this would degenerate in to fights that have Jason show off his training and kick Batman and Robin asses (look UtRH Jason nearly beat Bruce several times, a older and more experienced Jason against a younger Bruce? Not even a chance, he knows all their moves and he is a tricky motherfucker, he would win). Bruce would notice that he has very familiar moves and start investigating where this mysterious man would have come from (also he would be horny on main, look Bruce has a type and Jason smashes all the buttons). This could include Minhkhoa getting involved, I haven't decided yet.
But for the most part we would be following Jason.
(Also this isn't very important for the plot but it's important for me, but this version of Jason is a trans guy, just so you know)
One of the first scene I visualised for this fic was Jason reunion with Catherine.
Jason would be investigating his old apartment to get an idea on the situation, his original plan is probably to try to help his younger self from a distance maybe get in to contact later, but doesn't want to put them in danger by contacting them. That plan goes out of the window when he see his mother shitty dealer (you know the one from cheer) getting an "extra" payment (aka sexual favours). He burst in to the room and beat the shit out of the man before throwing him out of the door (or maybe the window?).
And then the fight is done, the adrenaline is gone, and the only one left are him, his younger version, and a very alive, very scared Catherine. Now Jason is very quietly panicking in his head, and he just defaults to his victim training and his old habits of taking care of his mother, calming her and baby Jay down and cleaning up the place, making dinner with what there is in the house. Catherine and Jay would be very skittish, but have an instinctive trust, something very unusual for them, and after a while Catherine would notice something that lets her connect the dots, a mole or a very distinctive scar on adult Jason that combined with how he is acting let her recognise her adult son.
That moment would be very emotional, Jason would have spent the time before (either a few days or just hours depending on what I'm doing) pretty much suppressing all his emotions on finally having his mom back, and at that point they would brust forward turning this tank of a man in a weeping mess.
That or Jason breaks down after beating the shit out if the dealer and Catherine recognise him then.
I'm undecided between this two options for that.
But part that stays the same is Catherine holding Jason face in her hands and whispering "Jay" with a voice bursting with emotions, and big scary Jason on his knees looking up to his mom with a trembling lip and tears in his eyes before hugging her and sobbing his heart out in her arms.
Catherine and Jay would be his first contacts in the local community to help him set himself up.
Between settings himself up in the neighborhood and and more general time travel stuff Jason would contact Willis and bust him out of prison.
And I'm going with my own interpretation of Willis (link), so he would be useful to Jason to keep things up when he has things to do outside of Gotham or he need back up. There would be a whole subplot with the two of them reconnecting and Willis actually sharing his past with his family for first time after beginning faced with what with his adult son that had killed in part because of the secret he keep. (Lots of comparison/parallels between him and Bruce of the original timeline)
Also Willis when seeing adult Jason commenting "ah I see you took after your mother" meaning Lady Shiva, because outside his height and build he has nothing of Cain. But Jason never knew who is actual bio parents where in the other timeline.
One of the priorities that Jason has outside of Gotham is finding Cass, by this time she had already ran away from Cain and is now homeless.
In the other timeline Jason and Cass had become pretty close, has the oldest of the family to survive and after a while the only ones. Bruce, Dick, and Tim were the first to die, the rest following in the years after.
They learned to work together His methods are now better to this new situation and she recognised the pratcality of it but she never gave up on her ideas and never killed again. It made her a less effective fighter so she shifted her focus in other areas, evacuation, etc.
Jason deeply admired her in that future, they learned to share space with eachother, and bonded on their experiences living on the streets and the interest that they had in common (they never talked about the family they both lost, when the grief hit too much they would just sit together in silence remembering).
He was gutted by her death. She always seemed invincible, but in the end one mistake was enough.
He had long before promised her that he would stop her if she was infected, and after a mission gone wrong he is the one to track down her zombie, putting it down and burning the remains, keeping the promise.
Now in this different past he uses what she had told him of his life on the streets to track her down and taking her with him back to Gotham, he was not able to save her in that terrible future, and he may not be able to give her her childhood back now, but he can give her a family.
On the more "heroic" scale Jason get in contact with several of his old contacts to get stuff done on a larger scale to prevent various catastrophies.
Two of the people that he got in touch with were his exs, Talia and Slade. (Yes I'm problematicTM, I don't care)
Meeting Talia was jarring, she was so painfully young, so different from the woman he remembered, so idealist, she was still studying to become a medic, but still the steel in her spine was the same.
Slade in so many ways was both easier and harder to deal with, he hadn't yet lost his children, and he was somehow even more of a bastard from the future timeline version. Still with some generous use of blackmail and future information on how to save his family they hashed an agreement.
During this he may meet a young Tera, and meeting this painfully young angry version of a girl that he know would have died in just a few years brought back memories of when he was a furious young man. Idk how but I want Jason to become her mentor and having to dodge her very unwanted flirtations, because that's Tera and that's the shitty coping mechanism of her choice (and Jason understand the urge). Idk this part of the story would require more work, at the moment it's mostly just vibes.
Going back to the Brujay during all of this we would occasionally jump back to Bruce pov, and while Jason doesn't think much about this timeline Bruce (outside how to avoid him if he would interfere with his plans), Bruce is absolutely obsessing over this mysterious new opponent.
Also Dick is dealing with the worst sexuality crisis after dealing with Jason, and he absolutely hate that Bruce has a very obvious new crush on this man, he already has to deal with the drama with Selina, Harvey, and Minhkhoa. Poor boy wants to rip his hair out because of Bruce inability of keeping it in his pants.
--------------------------------
So this is about it. There are some more bits and pieces that I didn't know where to fit that's the general idea. Hopefully it wa enjoyable.
Tagging @captainclovis because you were also interested in this idea

Hey! Can I have your Brujay hcs?
Hello, and of course!
I'm not very good at this and I don't have many either so I hope I don't disappoint you, but here goes:
Personally, I think when Jay was Robin he didn't disguise his attraction to Bruce at all, like, "oh, I'll see you in a not at all discreet way while you're changing clothes after patrols, but I hope you don't think it's weird". He was also very bad at hiding his jealousy (canonical) and Bruce was amused by it.
This has more to do with Alfred: I feel like, one way or another, Alfred knew that this unstable pair were going to end up together (as a couple or otherwise) because of how obvious they both were about their love for each other. On one occasion, before the disgrace, he asked himself if J and B had any other kind of "thoughts" for each other than just "father and son". And when Jason rejoined the family his questions were answered.
And well, I feel like everyone talks about this but at the same time no one does: B's grief in Batman #440
The man was really devastated, and I don't have kids and I don't know people who have kids and have lost one, but I think that was not a way to react and even that's why A was alarmed. What I mean so it's not misconstrued: I feel like in the comic he didn't put on half the grief he felt and Bruce being an unstable person and now with a suicide complex over the top worried Alfred. Jason (or his death) really left B (also canonical) devastated but a thousand times more than expected (even A mentioned it in Batman #440).
And, without going that far, Bruce's pain and confusion upon discovering that J was RH.
For a moment, let's forget that he's Bruce Wayne/Batman and think of him as what he really was: a father whose son was taken from him, or a man who lost his lover (Brujay brings out all the bad in my soul). Imagine the man's confusion, so much time of mourning, weeks of tears and only pain to then find out that this person you suffered so much for is actually alive and became everything you didn't want for him.
I feel Bruce had another suicidal and depressive breakdown when he found out (and there too Dick became suspicious of his behaviour and oh Brujay) about it.
That was all, thank you for taking the time to leave a question! And I really hope the hcs weren't too bad.

Could you write more Brujays and Jaydicks that are not abo?
The first time things start to change is when Bruce compliments Jason for the first time.
“Good job,” Bruce says to him quietly while the others are starting to pull off their suits. “You made all the right calls.”
Jason doesn’t want to admit how much it means to him to hear Bruce say that. He just nods in response, trying to ignore his pounding heart and the rush of adrenaline.
He’s been working with the bat clan again for nearly a year now, and his interactions with Bruce have slowly become less painful. They’ve transformed from arguments to mild disagreements to indifference to…this.
A compliment barely whispered.
And Jason hates how much he craves to hear something like that again.
*****
After that point, Jason starts making more of an effort.
It’s not that he craves Bruce’s approval and no way are there any daddy issues or any of that shit.
The only reason Jason is making an effort is because Bruce is. For what feels like the first time ever, Bruce is treating him like an equal. Listening to his views. Respecting their differences. Respecting Jason.
And Jason wants to make it known that that’s the kind of thing that’s going to keep him around.
So he starts playing by Bruce’s rules just a little more often. He behaves himself. He even starts joining social occasions with the Bats - family dinners and all that shit.
He doesn’t want to admit how much he’s missed it all. How afraid he is to lose it all again.
But he gets the sense that this time Bruce might just fight a little harder if there’s a chance he might lose Jason again.
*****
For Jason’s birthday, Bruce insists on hosting a small gathering at the manor.
At first Jason thinks it’s dumb because he never celebrates his birthday, but he ends up having a really nice time. He can’t remember the last time a bunch of people he cared about got together to do something nice for him.
Alfred makes the most amazing cake and makes Jason wear a little paper hat while everyone sings Happy Birthday to him. Everyone buys him really thoughtful gifts - Tim gets him a maintenance kit for his bike, Dick gets him a baking set (having destroyed most of Jason’s kitchen stuff last time he was over), and Damian gets him some anime DVDs that they’d been talking about a few weeks ago.
Bruce buys him a collection of Jane Austen first editions.
“Jesus, B,” Jason says in awe, running his fingers carefully over the covers.
“I wasn’t sure if you’d like them,” Bruce says, sounding awkward and unsure.
“I love them,” Jason replies honestly.
He hesitates for only a moment before giving Bruce a hug.
It lasts just a few seconds and it’s super awkward, but Jason’s heart bubbles when Bruce wraps his arms around him. It’s been such a long time since Jason has been held by anyone.
And Bruce is so big and solid and he smells really good…
Jason pulls away and clears his throat, barely able to look Bruce in the eye.
*****
A few weeks later, Jason gets a very odd phone call from Bruce.
“I’m sorry to ask this,” Bruce says, sounding very tired, “and you can say no. But I need a favor.”
Jason braces himself for something along the lines of a long undercover mission, or providing intel on one of his informants, so he’s very surprised at what Bruce says next.
“I need a date for tonight’s WE gala dinner. I was hoping you might join me.”
Jason nearly drops his phone. “I beg your fucking pardon?”
“Like I said, you can say no. I’m sorry to ask, Jason. Alfred had someone lined up for me who’s had to drop out last minute. You were the first person I thought of.”
“Can’t you just go on your own?”
There’s a pause.
“I…” Bruce trails off.
Jason doesn’t think he’s ever heard Bruce Wayne sound vulnerable. But then again, he knows how much Bruce hates going to these events sometimes. He can put on a good act, but he hates them. Maybe he just doesn’t want to be alone.
“Hang on, let me check if I’ve got anything on tonight,” Jason says. He pauses for a moment, not moving from the couch. “Nope, I’m free. I’ll be there.”
“Thank you.” Relief floods through Bruce’s voice. “I’ll pick you up at seven.”
Jesus Christ.
Jason has a date with Bruce Wayne.
*****
It actually turns out to be way more fun than Jason expected.
Bruce picks him up in one of his fancy sports cars and takes him for a drive around Gotham, and when they arrive at the venue Bruce wraps an arm around his waist.
Jason spends the evening watching Bruce talk to a lot of very dull rich people, and he can see now why Bruce didn’t want to come alone. You need some real serious moral support for this shit.
And Jason can tell every time Bruce looks at him that the older man is glad Jason is there.
He’s wanted.
Afterwards, Bruce lets Jason drive his fancy sports car back to his apartment while they laugh at all the incredibly dull stuck up people they’ve spent the night with.
“Thank you for coming,” Bruce says truthfully, his eyes warm. “I’m so glad you were there.”
“Me too,” Jason says softly. He swallows. “So…uh. You wanna come up for coffee or something?” He grins. “Show me the full Bruce Wayne date experience?”
He laughs a little, trying to pass off his attempt at flirting as a joke in case this is not what he thought it was.
But Bruce’s smile grows warmer, and he reaches out to cup Jason’s cheek.
“You are so beautiful, Jason,” Bruce murmurs in response, before leaning in to press their lips together.
*****
Ten minutes later, they’re falling into Jason’s bed together.
Jason can’t quite believe this is happening. Just a few months ago this is something he wouldn’t even think he’d want, and then it became something he’d fantasise about but thought Bruce would never want.
Now here they are.
“Bruce,” Jason moans as the older man kisses his neck, suddenly becoming nervous. “There’s something you gotta know.”
Bruce stops, panting as he gazes at the younger man. “Have you changed your mind? Because it’s fine, we don’t have to-“
“I want to,” Jason says firmly. “I just…I wanted you to know. I’ve never done this before.”
There’s a heavy silence as Bruce takes a moment to process what Jason has just said.
Jason swallows. “Like, I lost a lot of time when I died. And when I came back…I dunno. I’ve just had a lot going on. And casual sex has never really appealed to me. So. Yeah. I don’t really know what I’m doing. But I want to. I want you.”
Bruce caresses his face, and it’s such a soft intimate gesture that Jason almost cries.
“I’ll take care of you,” Bruce promises, leaning in for a kiss.
And this time, Jason knows that’s true.
