i don't wanna what-about which is why i'm not saying anything on the post but it is. i dunno. weird to me that the armenian genocide is the only anatolian genocide that people mention -- the ottoman empire & (later) turkey also attempted genocide against anatolian greeks and (til) assyrians during the same period (~1913-1923)
i only heard it called the "greek and rmenian genocide" when i was younger, it wasn't until later that i realized that's not the common usage
#bird original#“armenian and assyrian and greek genocide” is a mouthful#and i guess people only ever think “greek” means the peninsula so that's a source of confusion#i didn't even know there WAS an existing assyrian ethnic group#but i dunno.#when i was home for christmas this year i learned one of my uncles figured out which village my yaia came from.#he'd found some pictures on google maps. of a beautiful locally-known church tower that had been destroyed in the genocide#& which the surviving townspeople had gone to great lengths to restore -- i don't remember if it had gone back into use though#i should ask about that#i'm three generations of assimilation + outmarriage down so it's not like it's visceral generational trauma but it's ... weird. i dunno#it's weird.

#Spyro Soundscapes#Spyro#Soundscapes#Spyro The Dragon#as far as Weird Spots in this game go i'd say this is one of the strangest-feeling Weird Spots#due to being a Weird Spot that's an unavoidable part of the main path to the talisman & portal#Weird Spots in Spyro 2 IMO tend to be either shortcut return routes#(like the stream at the end of Idol Spring's main path leading back to the tiny bridge room)#or small areas that only exist for the context of orb challenges#(like that ice cave or the tiny top floor room the Professor is in for the Flame The Statues orb in Colossus)#(or. 50% of Mystic Marsh's layout honestly.)#but this is just A Hallway With Two Trees Growing In It And Forming The Ceiling.#in a level themed around Construction Workers and Carvers full of lavish grounds and cubic buildings and dome huts#and you gotta unlock the door at the end of it in order to progress through the level.#it's WEIRD.#i love it.#quewi#Ripto's Rage Soundscapes
