the way both annabeth's and percy's fatal flaws kinda jumped out in this scene.. bc annabeth thought she could handle it by herself and then percy sacrificed himself bc he didn't want her to get hurt

tl;dr Stranger (the kdrama also known as Forest of Secrets/Secret Forest) is incredible, the best mystery/investigation/legal drama I've ever watched, if you're a fan of the genre I def recommend it (the two main seasons are on Netflix, too).

eunyung baek doing what his dad told him to do and getting punished because he took his dad's words at face value. eunyung baek's teachers punishing haejoon for "meddling" when he said that eunyung's parents beat him. eunyung baek who called the cops because "that's what they say to do" and got sent back to the same home. eunyung baek saying his past is "embarrassing" because he didn't know how to read and adapt. eunyung baek still refusing to adapt even though he knows how to read the room because haejoon told him he deserved better, and eunyung believed him.

Season 2, Ep. 7 is everyone's worst nightmare come true and it's beautiful
Episode 7 really is a dark episode but one that is so so vital to understanding what or cast is up against as very human characters.
The alternate timeline is brimming with information about characters who aren't even there. They haunt this episode like they haunt Ekko and it's a perfect nigtmare.
Let's start with Jayce, the one most literally in a nightmare. I mean, it's simple. It's the ultimate fallout of his research. A quiet world where he's finally confronted with Heimerdinger's warnings about taking things slowly. About the importance of consensus and dissent because now he's in a world with none. He hates it. Even the one that stands at the end hates it. It's a horrific and quiet note. It's the end. It's over.
Ekko and Heimerdinger are found in a happy world where Zaun and Piltover can work together. The bridges are laden with markets, everything is colorful. People who Ekko know to be dead are all alive.
It's the worse of the two nightmares, I think.
It's the question on everyone's mind.
"If I had done it just a little differently, would it have turned out like this?"
Jayce is in this narrative. Without Hextech the city is at peace. Should he have bothered with the Arcane at all?
Caitlyn is here simply by way of her absence. She's become painfully aware of what the mere appearance of enforcers does to Zaun. As a symbol of the police force, her own use of it is called into question, and wonders at what would have happened if they just hadn't pursued a criminal that day but tended a victim.
Vi, though, is here in the most crushing way. In this world, she died to a Hextech explosion. It ties directly into her words to Caitlyn in the cell later. How she loses everyone. How she can't ever make the right decision. If Vi saw this other world she would be completely destroyed because it would serve to her as proof that she's right. The only jinx here is her. Her decisions, her choices, and without her everyone she loves would still be alive. This one episode serves to show us the sum total of her guilt in the following scenes and make it hit. Because it's one of the worst and most gut-wrenching fears.
Would things be better if I wasn't here?
Ekko, ultimately, is confronted with this question in the most curious way. This is the first time I think he's really had to contend, personally, with the fact that his tip helped lead to all the ruin of his world. He gave the tip that killed Vi in this one. He's personally responsible for what happened in both times besides, or at least feels as such.
I do really think Ekko felt like this was done to him, and these moments with Powder are what made him realize the cycle that has been perpetuated. Is it any wonder why he makes his timeloop device here, now? At the realization that every single bad turn he's done to Jinx is a repetition that turns time ever more darkly forward? If he reached out to her a single time, would it all be different? And now, at the summation of his loop and development, I think he has another question to ask. If he wants to stay, or if he's set on returning.
I think he does because the answer to the burning question is...
"Would it be better if I wasn't there?"
It's: "No."
And then he brings that same understanding forward. To Jinx, to tell her the answer.
"No, it wouldn't be better if you pulled that pin. No world is better for not having you in it, it just makes one without you and the things you can create."
It goes the same for every character. Jayce, Viktor, Vi, Caitlyn, Jinx, Mel... Everyone. No one is a blight that must be annihilated for a better future. That's only episode 7's nightmare. Not the stillworld but the joyful one. The one every character feels is their due if only...
If only.
