The two time-travelling girlfriends had decided to go for a history lesson, to actually get a somewhat dangerous front row seat to the Revolutionary Period of the late 1700s. Best part about this, was the way they were dressed; (tall Caucasian ginger woman named Hannah who was very muscled in men’s 2015 grey shorts and a maroon colored tank top, and had a woman’s army cut, so she literally looked like a butch lesbian, and her girlfriend, shorter African American woman with a big bun in her hair, in a cute navy blue sundress with thin shoulder straps that had cute little white, pink, and orange flowers in bunches with green stems. Very out of place clothing.
They arrive in Trenton, New Jersey, around 1776 in the beginning of the famous Battle of Trenton because Katie wanted to get up close and personal to the events that happened in her history books, since Hannah had been complaining that reading books was too boring. (I looked it up and realize it was in December, but I really don’t want to write about snow just yet.) They wandered the town hand in hand, checking out the architecture of the old buildings, laughing and also ignoring all the very strange looks they were getting, and it wasn’t till hearing bombs going off in the distance did that actually remember this wasn’t a live-action museum, they were actually back in time and exploring. During a war.
”I told you this was a bad idea!” Hannah yelled, hissing as she dragged Katie to take cover.
”You?! You were complaining about books being so boring! Let’s get some action you said, it’ll be fun and a great learning experience you said!! This is all your fault!” Katie yelled, puffing her cheeks furiously as they had ducked behind the huge rubble pile of an old building. Oh goodness.
This was a really bad idea. They could get hurt! Before they knew it, as they stood up, some idiot far away had caught the strangers, immediately pegging them as enemies for being in different outfits then their own. “Enemy soldiers! Those two crouching by the rubble wall!” He’d yelled, and aimed and shot his gun, a loud bang sounding.
Hannah couldn’t even process. She’d been pushed suddenly, there was a slight ring in her ears. She looked ahead at Katie,
“Watch out!” Katie cried, shoving Hannah out of the way, and felt her back thud against the stone wall, and she slid down to the ground, groaning and beginning to bleed out on the stone wall chunk. There was a discarded gun nearby in some wreckage, just happened to be, she swiped it up and sniped the man who’d shot her girlfriend with no hesitation, before rushing over to Katie as fast as she could.
Hannah sobs over Katie's bloody chest, scooping her up in Hannah’s arms, as the life force drains from her. They'll never get home now! They both had to be, well.. alive! They were in a time that didn't have proper medical help either! And stupid enemy American soldiers had shot Katie. Thinking they were enemies.
"It'll be okay.." Katie coughed, tears rolling down her cheeks as she lifted a bloody hand to cup her lover's cheek. "We can.. spend our final moments... here.. together...”
Hannah just sobbed, her jaw clenched and she couldn't find the words other than begging her to keep holding on...
When Katie's hand suddenly dropped from Hannah's face, the other woman sobbed to the sky, screaming her refusal to the stars. "Noooo!!!!!!!!"
But then... almost like a miracle... Hugging Katie's body to her chest, a bright white light began to glow between their hearts.. It was blinding, but Hannah didn't let go. The last of Katie's power, combined with the extreme outburst of Hannah's power, was their final ticket home. Within the blink of an eye and a blinding flash... they were transported to what looked like outside the doors of a modern hospital. Hannah looked around, was almost overjoyed they somehow made it home, but... looking down... Katie's lifeless face... Hannah sobbed again, and doctors taking a smoke break had walked around, seeing the woman holding the other woman and crying. Minutes later, Katie was in an operating room. Hannah in the waiting room, not allowed to be in there with her...
When Katie was set in a bed and hooked to some machines, she was awake and able to talk, covered in a huge white bandage over where the shot had been, at her left shoulder.
Hannah almost tackled her lover when she was allowed in, but just held her hand close, kissing all over it as much as she could.
“Are you okay?” Hannah whispered, mid-kiss on the back of Katie’s hand.
“I’ll live.” She said with a wink, and chuckled when Hannah made a grumpy face and kissed her hand some more. So cute.
Oh yeah. What they had to tell the doctors when they got asked questioned, Hannah had said they had “got in the middle of a nasty war.” Which the doctors assumed was a metaphor for a protesting accident or something. Oh well. No questions after that.
When they were sitting calmly next to each other, Hannah looked at the bandage, seeing how it was still white. Had the injury been healed already? She wasn’t really sure since something like this had never happened before. Very curiously, she stood up, before pushing her finger against the bandage, and in a very curious tone, she asked “Hey Katie, can you feel this?”
The look on poor Katie’s face was priceless, a look of pain and horror and “Are you an idiot?!” It almost made Hannah laugh but she wasn’t that much of an ass.
“Yes I can feel that you ass!!” She yelled, and Hannah did laugh after that. “Sorry babe. The bandage looked fresh, so I wondered if you’d healed already.”
“It doesn’t heal that fast. The doctors said I’ll be in for at least a couple days.” She gave a sigh, looking down at her hand which still buzzed a little from the feeling of kisses all over it, but then smiled.
“What?” Hannah asked, noticing the look.
“Nothing. I just know you’ll be by my side the whole time.”
“Of course I will Katie. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
The end. (For now.)
