no yeah at the START of the song when he takes over for ej yes he is writing his own verse about his own current turmoil™️ but towards the END of the song he just???? starts singing VERSES (not the chorus!!! new lyrics!!!) WITH EJ that it’s implied ej wrote but if it could be the opposite that ricky is writing them on the spot and EJ IS THE ONE WHO MAGICALLY KNOWS THEM but it made absolutely no sense and i get it’s still a play on hsm which was an actual musical and followed musical logic but considering they did the same thing with maddox and ashlyn this season (and tbh rina) EXCEPT it followed real world logic where one person was singing a song they wrote and the other was singing along while reading the lyrics written down just made it read bizarrely lol
