“Here we go” Mountain sighs from his recliner, burying his head into Aether’s chest, preparing for yet another one of Dew’s ‘The Muppets Christmas Carol is a cinematic masterpiece’ rants

“Oh I don’t know- maybe because it’s only the best Christmas Carol adaptation out there” Dew says.

You’d have thought Rain just told him Santa wasn’t real with how offended he sounds.

“Just to be clear we are talking about The Muppets…as in Kermit…the frog?

“Yes.”

“And the Charles Dickens Christmas Carol, with the ghosts of Christmas or whatever”

“Yes- now why are you interrogating me? Just sit your ass down and watch, okay? It’s gonna change your life I swear”

“You are so weird”

“And you’re my mate so whose really loosing here?” Dew says as he pulls Rain into his lap.

Rain accepts his defeat pretty quickly as Dew’s warmth envelops him, shoving his freezing hands under Dew’s shirt.

“Fucking hell your hands are cold” Dew all but yelps

“And your chest is warm, guess you could call us a perfect match” Rain smirks, melting further into Dewdrop.

“Whatever” Dew scoffs, trying to hide the blush booming on his cheeks

“Just watch, it’s starting” He whispers into Rain’s neck, sending a shiver down his spine.

Silently, Rain wonders how much of the movie they’ll actually be watching tonight.

She’s trying not to look a certain way, but he can see it in her eyes anyway. She clears her throat, keeps talking. “But it’s…” She glances away, wets her lips. “You gotta get ready.” He remembers what day it is, and his heart beats like a drum at someone’s execution. But he tries to put on a mask, make it all seem normal. It’s everything but, despite the fact that he’s been dealing with reaping day since he was born, between himself, Ben and May. That fear that one of them could be taken away. Sent to surefire slaughter. But now Ben is gone, taken despite never having his name drawn from a bowl, and May’s finally safe. Now Peter’s name is in there alone. The last Parker sitting on the chopping block. He doesn’t know how to be. He doesn’t know what normal is, when the Hunger Games are looming on the horizon.
