Your breathing is shallow and your eyes flutter open and closed as the cold of the room wraps around your almost naked body. The cool cement of the floor and the metal of the handcuffs that hold your hands tightly behind your back bites into your skin. All you can do is lay there, stuck in your own thoughts and shifting your legs around, as the seconds tick by slowly as you await the inevitable.
It’s not the first time you’ve found yourself in this position, your entire body laid flat on the floor of some random room, your shoulders aching from the weird angle the handcuffs force on you. Your entire body is bare aside from a thin pair of underwear.
Of course the first time it happened you panicked. You almost even got to the point of hyperventilating, but thankfully the first time he was more conscious of the shock you’d be experiencing.
But after it happened a few times, and you had learned just how well nights like this would end, you had come to learn just how nice it is to wake up alone in a dark room.
It was somewhere between 20 minutes to an hour when you heard the first hint of movement around you, the heel of his shoe scuffing against the cement of the floor so far into the dark you couldn’t even make out his silhouette.
“Taeyong?” you call out in a curious tone as if it could be anyone else in the world. The lack of response wasn’t surprising, but you just call out again using the same broken tone that you know makes whatever that pumps through his cold dead veins burn.
—
Taeyong seemed like just a sweet and normal guy when you first met him, and even now you’d argue that he truly is, and he just has his quirks.
You didn’t consider the time of night that you met him, you were out partying late into the night anyways so you just assumed he was doing the same. And he was just so cute, his soft smile and his dark eyes made your heart thud in your chest, and the way he grinned at you when this happened just made you think that it was probably fate.
Yeah you thought it was a bit weird when your dates only happened after the sun had disappeared, but you wrote it off as him being a night owl similarly to yourself. That was also the excuse you gave when your friend casually mentioned how he always looked a bit washed out and sickly. ‘Dude I just don’t think he gets a lot of sun,’ you had argued, and you weren’t technically wrong.
And he was such a gentleman, and so attentive and kind, that you were more than willing to just ignore his unusual characteristics, but the sex didn’t hurt when it came to you keeping him around.
His stamina was something you’ve never experienced in your life. His strong fingers always ready to explore your skin and his greedy mouth always following close behind. He had given you the strongest orgasm you’d ever had the first time his touched you, and seemed to one up himself every single time after.
You almost wished you were more shocked when he told you. His shaking hands and darting eyes made you nervous as all hell when he said he had something to tell you so many nights ago, but when the confession that he had died decades before finally left his trembling lips, it was like a huge weight lifted from your shoulders.
He almost seemed more shocked than you when you finally responded to his confession, a quiet sigh and a promise that him not being fully human didn’t change your attraction to him causing him to gawk and ask you more than a few times if you were absolutely sure. And after you shut him up with your mouth pressing against his and trailing down until it was wrapped around his length, he finally believed that you were in for the long run.
Your ready acceptance for something that always plagued the way he lived, was probably what made it easier for him to confess to you something else that was odd about him. And thankfully for him, you were just as willing to accept this new curve ball.
He liked the feeling of a hunt.
It wasn’t something he was actively proud of, he knew it was something animalistic and deep down inside him that developed sometime after the bite that turned him. His need to find prey to survive crossing with his hunger for a companion and sexual release, and giving him this clawed animal that lived in his gut and made him salivate the first time he saw you.
The way your heart fluttered and your eyes widened, he could hear the sweet blood rushing through your veins and it made his brain wild. You could barely believe that that was the way he had seen you when you first met considering how charming he was, but he swore that that night was the exact moment that he learned he needed you in his life and between his teeth no matter what.
He never gave specifics of what he wanted to do to you, you had developed enough of a trust within him that you didn’t feel like you needed the details. This fact only made him moon over you even more, as the element of surprise and shock would only get him more excited.
So yes the first time he did it, you were shocked, and until he revealed he was the one behind it you would admit you were more than a bit scared. But now that it's become a more regular thing, the only thing that made your heart slam against your chest was the anticipation for what he was going to do to you.
—
You called out his name one last time before he reacted.
The quiet ‘shhh’ he lets out from his spot in the corner of the room is the only thing he needs to do to make your muscles relax. Your shoulders sink to the floor and you begin to kick your feet behind you as you try to get ready for the real fun of the night to begin.
The heels of his shoes drag against the floor as he gets closer, the way you lay flat stopping you from seeing face as he walks up to you from behind. The only indication you get that he’s coming anywhere near you is the silence of the room that amplifies every minute sound he makes.
“Look at what trouble you’ve gotten yourself into,” his tone is nothing but taunting as he starts to circle your body, his cold words and how small he makes you feel as his eyes rake down your back makes you tremble against the cold floor and let out a small huff of air.
“Pretty thing like you should have never gotten involved with a monster like me huh baby?”
You can hear the slight ting of sincerity in his voice when he speaks, but the idea of consoling him and telling him he’s wrong is completely wiped from your mind at the next thing he does.
He’s stood between your still twitching legs when he finishes speaking, the term of endearment that he calls you so naturally is punctuated with him pressing his foot firmly on the space between your thighs, the tip of his perfectly shined shoe pressing into the dampened spot on your underwear and pulling a desperate whine from your lips.
“Crumble at any slight touch I give you, no wonder you keep running back to me,” he only presses harder as he speaks, pushing the front sole of the shoe up and down to cause just enough pleasure and small bites of pain that you start to tremble and pant.
He loves the way you start to break from just the smallest things right in front of his hungry eyes, but it’s when he notices you pushing back against his shoe and your fingers frantically curling and uncurling where they’re pressed against your lower back does he feel just the smallest spark of sympathy.
“Don’t even care that you’re so powerless in an empty room do you? As long as you get even the smallest amount of attention that’s all you’re worried about?”
He gives one last harsh push against your warm, sensitive skin, reveling in the cry you let out, before he slowly sinks down onto his knees behind you.
“Look at you, you poor sweet thing,” his cold hands wrap around both of your shaking thighs, his slender fingers digging into the skin strong enough to make the bruises that make his mouth water bloom.
The low temperature of his fingers and palms and the scratching of his bitten nails as they trail up your thighs and over the curve of your ass makes a shiver run up your spine, and the way he grabs onto your jittering hips to harshly tug you closer to him makes you gasp.
His lips are chapped and his tongue is soft when they land on the space between your shoulder blades, and your shoulders shift up towards your ears to the best of their ability with your hands still trapped together. It’s with the feeling of his saliva dripping on your bare skin and his elongated canines scraping against you as he moves down the curve of your spine, do you find your voice again.
“Please,” it’s soft and broken when it leaves your lips, the only word your muddled mind can conjure in the moment, the devilish smile he suppresses against your tailbone being a weak push for you to continue, “touch me, use me.”
“Dirty thing, I’ve ruined your mind haven’t I?” he sounds nothing but proud of himself when he speaks, any shame of the situation finally melting from his mind at the way you so easily settle into the personas he’s created.
You let out a quiet sigh of relief when you feel his lips mouthing at the skin of your hip as he pulls the band of your underwear between his teeth, the angle finally allowing you to grab onto a handful of his hair, just enough contact to his form to pacify you for the time being.
He’s not in control of the small growl he lets out as his sharp teeth begin to poke through the flimsy fabric, nor is he in control of the much louder growl that rips from him when he starts to shred it until it falls limply away from your body.
The room feels many degrees cooler now that you lay fully bare in front of him, aside from the few scraps of fabric that desperately hold to your skin as they became dampened from his saliva. You’re now capable of feeling just how excited you’ve become from the series of events when you shift your legs, though your movements are limited as he still holds onto you tightly.
“If there’s one thing I like tasting more than your blood,” he sounds dreamy as he mutters to himself with his eyes locked between your thighs, your body shifting and a grumbling whine following as you feel embarrassment flood your system, but he only laughs meanly in response.
His hands return to your thighs, and his thumbs move to pull at your skin to open you more for his greedy eyes. He takes a moment of appreciation, he always does when you’re like this, your body his favorite sight to lose himself to as he sees you as nothing but an otherworldly creature laid out in front of him like a meal.
There’s no verbal warning, only a shifting sound from his clothes as he leans closer and his tongue is dipping into you. The strength of the muscle always throws you off, and this time is no different. The way it pushes and moves against the nerves inside you has you gasping for the cold dry air around you, and your brow furrows above your tightly closed eyes.
Your thighs tremble as the sparks of pleasure makes you rise onto your knees just slightly, his relentless mouth following your motions as another animalistic growl vibrates against your skin. You can’t even process the discomfort you feel as your face presses more into the floor below you, as he takes advantage of his tongue slipping from you to flatten it against you and curling the tip of it to dig into your swelling clit.
The sounds that spill from your lips only return to you as the bounce off the walls of the hallow room, Taeyong happily swimming in the sounds of your pleasure as he drinks from you like he hadn’t had a single sip of water in the dozens of decades he’s lived.
He knows when you’ve begun to chew at your bottom lip, a fact that’s only vaguely disappointing as it muffles your sounds, but he finds the silver lining almost immediately as the pleasure he inflicts on you causes you to bite down hard enough to draw blood.
The moment the smell of the metallic liquid hits his nostrils, he feels himself losing the grip he has on his self control. The amount that bleeds from the minuscule cuts is so small, but even with his face buried between your thighs he can smell it so strongly as if he’s walked into a blood bank. Just the memory of the taste of it dancing on the back of his tongue makes him feel as if he is suddenly starving, and before he can even think, he’s pulling your clit between his lips and sucking harshly.
He moves with your erratic hips as if he can read the mind you’ve lost control of the moment he touched you, his tongue and teeth a level of unrelenting that has tears welling up in your rolling eyes.
Your hands fold into tight fists at the feeling of a promised orgasm biting at your lower belly, your arms flexing and shaking enough that he’s surprised you don’t build enough strength to break the handcuffs where they connect.
He only laughs at your weakening body as your lower legs start to kick out, your tightly curls toes bumping into his ribs as you release your lip and cry out into the room. He knows you’ve started to come, the way your body starts to slump in his hands and your hands begin to grasp at air again lets him know he’s gotten you in his favorite state of delirious pleasure and he has no interest in letting up.
He feeds off your yelps and cries almost similarly to the way he would your blood as he returns to lapping at your skin, soft hums of appreciation rattling his hollow chest as the taste of your orgasm coats his tongue.
He takes the moment of you being distracted by the overstimulation you receive from his tongue to work at his belt with one hand. His nibble fingers are perfectly capable of helping him multitask, as he uses his other hand to tangle with your bound hands and hold you against his tongue as your body tries to curl away.
You foolishly huff out in relief when he moves away from you and sits up, your knees shifting again as you try to make yourself more comfortable with your legs that have been reduced to jelly. You even let your back dip and stretch as his hands trail up your sides and his thumbs dig into your spine, but you only get a few stolen seconds of relief before your breath is knocked from you again.
You’re thankful for how sloppy he can be when he works you over with his tongue, the amounts of spit and come he leaves behind on and in you becoming a blessing when suddenly pushing into you with one sharp thrust. The way you stretch around him and the length of him so sudden that it almost feels like he’s splitting you in two.
The groan you let out is gravely from the way your throat was torn from the sounds you made before, and you lose any control you have as your eyes flutter and roll in your skull.
You’re flat on your stomach again, the slow but harsh thrusts he begins to subject you to wracking your nerves with so much pleasure you want nothing more than to simply melt into it. The only motions your body makes is the natural rocking from his hips and your muscles twitching and spasming with a mind of their own.
He leans into you, a laugh that borders on evil licking at your ears as he drinks in the way you look like a limp and pretty rag doll beneath him, the way you whimper and moan and the feeling fluttering around him being the only response you can give to the way he pushes into you.
“Poor thing, did I wear you out already?” under any other circumstances, you would have scoffed at how cocky he sounded when he spoke, the lack of exhaustion in his voice feeling almost like a slap to the face, but you’re pulled from your wallowing in self pity when one of his hands wraps roughly around your neck and tugs until your scrambling to lean against his chest, “you’re lucky I like doing all the work.”
It’s almost shameful the gasp of giddy relief you let out when you feel the softness of his belly on your fingertips through the button down he wears, the feeling of his physical form pushing against neglected hands overwhelming regardless of how minimal it is.
You're pulled from your innocent feelings of relief abruptly when you feel his other hand begin to move as well. His hips continue to bump and move against you unrelentlessly, and his roaming fingers finally land on your still buzzing clit with ease.
He pushes between your thighs seemingly unaffected by the way you subconsciously hold them closed, the calloused pads of his middle and ring finger rolling against the bundle of nerves at such a rhythmic pace you can’t help but feel as if he’s playing you like an instrument.
His breath feels like ice as he pants into your ear, his teeth playfully nipping at the shell and your lobe every few thrusts making you jump and shiver. You few light headed and even a little loopy as he squeezes at the sides of your neck to play with the blood flow your brain receives, and even though you’re aware that in reality you sit in a small empty building in a location that is completely secret to you, you feel like you float in heaven in his arms.
You feel the tears that dance along your waterline finally become too heavy, and when he angles his hips to push into the one spot that makes stars dance behind your eyes, they stream down your cheeks and leave your skin stained.
You move without question when his thumb presses against your jaw, your face turning to face him with a dopey smile filling your face when you see his familiar face for the first time of the night. The smile falling into your jaw hanging softly open when his tongue presses under the curve of your jaw bone and moving up until it flicks at the space the socket of your eye dips, the salty taste of your tears making him hum in a way that makes you feel dirty and loved.
He doesn’t remove his mouth from your skin, but rather starts to plant slick kisses starting at the high point of your cheekbone and moving down until your head tilts away from him and he’s mouthing at the skin that protects your thudding jugular.
You already feel so dizzily close to a second orgasm from how many forms of stimulation he assaults your body with, that the knowledge of what he’s only seconds away from doing has your heart slamming against your chest.
You know he can hear it, just as much as he can smell your hot blood as it runs through the veins that burn beneath your skin, and all it does is push him closer to his finish as well. He scolds himself for all those nights he’s begged the universe for a cure for what he is, or at least even a represent that would give him more self control, because in moments like this with you, he can’t feel anything but an animalistic pride and pleasure coursing through his dead veins.
He swears the roots of his canines burn as they sink into your neck without any resistance, you skin all but opening itself to his razor like teeth and relinquishing your source of life.
It’s a chain reaction, it is every time he’s bitten you like this. The sharp pain and burning that shoot across your neck and his amazing ability to keep fucking you through such an intense moment finally pushes you over the edge, silent screams scratching at your throat and forcing you to completely depend on the hold he still has on your neck.
And the way you curve against him, your walls fluttering and squeezing against him as you come and your clingy hands grabbing at the fabric of his clothes, is almost enough to get him to his finish. But it’s the taste of your blood, the gushing deep red spreading across his tongue and slipping down into his belly, feeding him and his orgasm at once.
He can’t stop his hips from moving as he fills you up, and his fingers are just as bad when it comes to carrying you through the blinding finish. Regardless of his colder body, you always feel warm and pliable against him, his groans and wet noises he makes against your neck feeding you almost as much as you feed him.
There’s a few more harsh twitches, your body using the last of its energy to feel every second of your orgasm, before you both melt into the others form with labored breaths. His teeth moving away from the skin they’ve damaged, and his soft tongue lapping at the skin and wounds until the bleeding stops.
It’s a still quiet as he pulls out of you and starts rearranging your worn form. Your skin screams in relief when the handcuffs are the first things to go, your hands unsurprisingly moving immediately to touch some form of his skin. Next his lips catch yours in a loving kiss, a feeling he knows you miss more than anything in moments like this, and he can’t help but the warm feeling he gets when you happily moan at the taste of your own body on his tongue, a intoxicating combination of your orgasm, tears, and blood weirdly tasting like home on his tongue.
In your obsession with his lips and tongue, he’s stood slowly, using his strength to bring your wobbly limbs and body with him. A hum of concern rumbling in his chest against you when you squeak at the slight pain.
“I’ve bruised you all up my little peach,” he speaks in a new tone that makes him feel like a completely different man in front of you, and you can’t help but curl around him and melt into the loving attention, “and you’re much too pretty to be in a dirty place like this, let’s get you home my little doll.”

Choosing to wake up alone means the bed is cool and spacious. You can roll over and feel nothing. Sheets fold against your body, swallowing you whole. No need to tug them away, they are all for you. You push the thoughts away too, the idea that there could have been a warmth to tuck into. All throughout your routine you ignore how someone else could fit into it.
Breakfast alone stings a little more, the hotel full of families and teams. You’re more aware now at the buffet, of the many muscular men that stand around in groups. They pile plates high of the day's energy. Wildebeest at the watering hole, you note to yourself. If there was anyone to eye roll at, you would. You notice you don’t see a certain head of toned blond hair. Not that you’re looking for it, you remind yourself.
People watching is best done on your own however, and your eyes flit between young couples, children spilling honey down their chins, and people desperate for the relief of caffeine.
Alone is safe and comforting. An observer, as Faiz would often call you. Watching and analysing and playing with the stories in your mind. You can live through the honeyed child, the tired parent. Give them a job, a goal, a life. It’s fun to enter their space, if for a moment.
The moment ends as Faiz breaks into your thoughts, fragments of faux futures shatter around you. “I have a challenge for you today.”
“Oh?”
“I want you to trust me,” the cheeky glint in his eye makes you want to do anything but.
“You already know I do.” His overjoyed energy is infectious, and your morning of distraction in other people’s brains has been replaced. You can feed off him to feel full. “What are you planning?”
“So, before you ask he’s down,” he begins, grinning at your raised brow, “but I think you should work with Makito today.” You chew on your toast for a minute, thinking through what Faiz is really asking. Or telling, as is more often when it comes to your coach.
“It’s for p—”
“Passion, you dumbass.”
“—ssion, isn’t it? Oi.” you go to flick his forehead, but he’s too quick and instead gets yours. “Ow, Faiz. Insulting and hurting me? Your favourite skater?”
“My favourite skater you may be, but you also need to score well. And I’ve got a plan.”
He drones on for a while, about how working with Makito is going to help create an environment where you’re performing for someone in particular. If you are embers, he will try and find someone or something to breathe the fire into you. You see how much he’s thought about this, and hey, you’re willing to give it a go if it might help.
As you make your leave from the hotel restaurant, you bump into something. Firm and tall and moving in such an ecstatic manner that it’s almost difficult to believe it’s so early in the morning. The someone grabs your shoulders, almost picking you up to move you to his side. You fluster, and they lean down to you.
“Sorry, sorry! Apparently way too hungry for breakfast,” his voice is deep but keeps the same energy as his movements. “Wait, do I know you?”
And then you see it. Another flashback to your night of heavy drinking. A shock of white and black hair, and bird-like features. “Barely, I think. I was drinking with your,” you’re not sure what term to settle on, “teammate, I think? Atsumu?”
“Yes, Tsum Tsum’s girl! Hey!”
“I’m not—”
“She’s not—”
And there he is. Sun gold hair still damp from an early shower. He looks like the warmth you were missing that morning. You didn’t miss it, you correct your runaway thoughts. It’s just a feeling you were once used to.
“Oh. Awkward. Well, breakfast calls!”
Like that the owl flees the nest.
“I should get going,” you say, shuffling past him as an attempt to run from the atmosphere. You don’t need to talk about it, or what you did. Hookups are a lot easier when you’re not both staying at the same hotel.
“I meant what I said, by the way,” he calls after you, waiting a second for you to turn. You shouldn’t turn around. Not if you don’t want to give him the chance to offer again. But it’s like his voice has a command over you, and you pause briefly. He rewards you with the easy curl of his lips and the way it shows in his cheeks. A small flash of hope in his eyes. “I’ll teach you a spike for a spin.”
At least there’s someone for you to roll your eyes at now.
“You’re not going to take no for an answer, are you?”
“Glad ya keepin’ up.”
Atsumu is quickly realising that you don’t quite speak your mind. It’s always you won’t take no, you don’t have to. It’s so far never been, I’m interested, I want that. There’s something about the way your brain is wired that makes him curious. Not that he would tell you about the other women that have flit through his life, but his type usually falls under demanding, high strung. Osamu would tease him that he dates reflections of himself. They could barely be considered dates, if he really looks into it. It’s always to bars and parties, his ‘date’ enjoying the expensive alcohol or his teammates.
Maybe he does have a jealous streak. When he goes for those who throw themselves at him, he never quite expects them to do the same to his teammates in turn. It’s nice to be wanted though, if only as a stepping stone.
If you are not demanding, it would only be natural to assume you are easy or effortless. But you are not that either. You need persuasion and nudging to agree to the course you want anyway.
You are a curiosity, Atsumu thinks as you enter the rink together. His practice isn’t till late, your schedules are so perfectly mis-aligned.
The not-boyfriend from the bar is here too, pushing off the seats to greet you. Atsumu stays back and lets you explain the situation, giving a polite nod when Faiz is introduced as your coach. He relaxes more when Faiz gives him a grin, one that spills with knowledge of late night escapades.
“So, you’re the guy?”
“Am I the guy?” he questions you, and as your eyes once again move to roll, he speaks again, “y’know, your eyes might get stuck like that one day.”
“I told her the same thing!” Faiz laughs, patting Atsumu’s back. “She’s always doing it too, as if I’m so below her.”
“Both of you should stop talking.” It’s cute, he thinks. Your little pout that you probably think looks oh so stern. Brows knitted and a finger to your temple. A kindergartner would laugh in your face.
“Faiz, I hate to break it to you. But she didn’t deny it.” His hand squeezes Faiz’s shoulder, a look of woe playing on his face. The coach responds with a hand clasped to his chest, stepping back as if your words have shot him.
He mutters your name under his breath, as if shocked by the revelation. “You’ve been using me all this time? And here I thought we were friends.” Faiz looks between you, lips trying so hard to fight a smile, and the beaming blonde next to him. “And him? You’re using him for se—”
Your eyes widen, and your hand immediately goes to slap your palm over Faiz’s mouth. “Okay! Okay, I get it! Very funny Faiz, very funny Atsumu. You’re both first class athletes and comedians.”
There’s murmuring that comes from the fingers covering Faiz, and you open them just enough for Faiz to let you, “was it any good at least?” before you close them again.
Atsumu goes to open his mouth, goes to prod more fun in your direction. But your hand goes from Faiz’s mouth, to his hand, and you’re pulling him and his words away.
“Please not in the locker room,” Faiz calls in your general direction, to which you pull your signature middle finger back at him.
“Are we gonna do it in the locker room?” Atsumu asks, praying the slight element of hope is hidden by the teasing. How easy it would be to guide your hand in his, move it towards your waistband.
“You wish.” He does.
“I like your coach.” Atsumu leans against the rows of lockers, watching you swap shoes for skates, “seems more fun than mine.”
“He knows me better than anyone. And he’s honest, doesn’t hide anything,” you speak as if it's routine. A question that has an automatic answer. “I already regret letting you two meet.”
“Oh c’mon, Golide,” he trails after you, admiring how on earth you can walk so comfortably on blades. “We both know you enjoy it.”
“You need me to say it?” you question as you step on the ice, whisking away before he can respond.
Maybe he doesn’t need you to say it, but he certainly wants you to. There’s elements of your attitude that Atsumu wants to learn. Why you very clearly have walls up, and how he can seep into the cracks.
Faiz comes to stand next to him, both of them watching as you move across the ice. Now you do seem effortless. Atsumu is sure it takes huge effort for you to push yourself across the ice, but somehow it looks like you prefer it to walking.
“So,” Faiz begins, and Atsumu knows the tone of the protective friend, “you like her?”
As much as you can after hanging out with someone a couple of times. Atsumu knows he’s become curious. Is that liking you? It sounds like something a teenager would say. So far he knows he likes aspects of you. Your smile, first of all. The banter between you both is easy, it keeps him on his toes. Your moans and sarcasm are both equally sweet.
“Something like that.”
Faiz hums thoughtfully and Atsumu thinks he’s not going to do it, and that he doesn’t need to make any promises. “Just be nice to her. She deserves that.”
It’s a weird way to phrase don’t hurt her, but Atsumu nods nonetheless. Just like that the men are back to smooth and easy jokes and discussions of career.
Eventually another man, the other not-boyfriend Atsumu recalls, joins them, and Faiz bids his goodbyes. They both go towards you on the rink, and so your new lesson begins.
Makito is almost giddy to work with you. His movements are too quick and too erratic for you to feel calm. Your head is usually clear in practice. Knowing where the exact places your skates should be, the extension of your hands. But it’s fogged doing it with someone else, as well as knowing two pairs of eyes are watching.
You had begun by simply holding on to one another, doing the most basic of motions to make sure you were working together well, and that no one was going to trip over the other. Deeming it a success, Faiz had moved onto the next challenge.
“Remember, this is all about feeling with Makito,” he instructs, putting both your hands on each other, “I want to see you responding to him. Acting the part.” Pretending to be in love is what he really means.
You both move across the ice, you’re meant to be jumping into Makito’s lap and the two of you leaning back to balance the weight. The idea is to make it look sexy, alluring, erotic. All words that you think far from describe you.
From the edge of the rink Atsumu wolf whistles, and he imagines the eye roll, although he’s not sure he likes the idea of that so much when you’re seated in someone else's lap.
“Makito, how did that feel?” Faiz quizzes.
He winces, looking sheepishly towards you before he answers. “Like she thought she was going to fall.”
“Did you think you were going to fall?” He directs the question your way, but you think he knows the answer. Curse him understanding you inside and out.
“I- I don’t know. Trying so hard to look romantic I didn’t think about much else.”
It goes on like that for long enough that you’re both sweating. The same song plays on repeat as you go through set movements again and again. It makes it feel like both so much and so little time is passing. Even Atsumu is just flicking through his phone now. Why did you say yes to him coming again? You know Faiz can feel your agitation, the way you bristle each time he instructs you to look a certain way. If trying your best was enough, you’d be done by now.
“Go. Take a break,” Faiz instructs. He’ll give you some time to cool off as he always does, letting you work it out isolated. It’s what works best for your brain. A whole other routine, walking away and turning music up far too loud. Stewing in it all. Absorbing yourself in the negative feelings until you can push them away or find something to distract yourself from them.
It feels like you should be alone this time. Too many wrong buttons pushed and you could snap at someone only to regret it. Too bad for you that you said yes to your newest irritant.
“You looked awesome” Atsumu begins, looking up from whatever feed he’s swiping through. He can barely finish the sentence before your face causes him to falter.
There are two pairs of steps echoing down the hallway, the creak of a rusty hinge swinging twice. Hopes of a lonesome sanctuary in the locker room are dashed.
“Hey, you okay?”
His face is full of concern, which puzzles you. Your fingers struggle to unlace your shoes. Must you struggle with everything when it comes to your profession? Maybe a distraction would be better.
“Goldie?”
The nickname bounces around in your mind, coupled with I’ve got you. Your shoes are off and next comes your sweater. Tugging it over your head and discarding it unceremoniously on the floor.
“Do you need anything?”
Perspiration still clings to your body, coming down from your workout on the ice. He is standing there, so big, so broad. It’s like a magnet is drawing you closer. He is a distraction wrapped in an aggravatingly handsome face and strong body.
“Yes, I do.”
His eyes flick down to your chest, heaving and covered in a sheen of sweat. Not the time, Atsumu. You’re looking up at him through your lashes, and his lips part, thinking about- not the time. He thought it was annoyance in your eyes, but the darkness seems to hold a different weight. Fists are balled by your side, and he’s not sure if you’re holding yourself back from punching a wall or something else.
“Fuck me, Atsumu.”
“What?” His brain is short circuiting, he thinks. ‘It’s not the time’ he repeats again and again. He’d promised to be nice to you and suddenly he’s not sure if that means talking you down or engaging with you in all the ways he wants to.
“You wanted to, right? Just fuck me.”
All of your body language is screaming at him to grab you and pull you in. Your palm crosses against his pectorals, your fingers curling to tease your nails down past his naval.
“You want me to beg Atsumu?” On tip toes you can push your body against his. Low and whispered against your voice is at the shell of his ear. “You want me to say please?”
The tensing of his muscles underneath his shirt makes you not want to pull away. You want Atsumu to want you. No, you want him to need you. To show you that you’re good for something. So you fall back on your feet, starting to turn away, heart dropping for a moment when he stays still. Maybe you’re the desperate one.
But then his hand grips around your arm, pushing you firmly against the row of lockers. His mouth crushes yours before you can even think of teasing him. Gripping under your ass, he brings your legs around his waist. You smile into the kiss as you notice he’s already half hard.
He almost growls into your sigh, realising that he does not have easy access to you like this. Slow ruts against you, easily bringing you against his crotch as Atsumu keeps you stuck between his body and the lockers. He needs convincing to let you away from him for even a second. “Say it again.”
“Please Atsumu. Please fuck me.”
It tips him over, sends him into some sort of feral need for your cunt. Dropping and rotating you, pushing you back up against the cool metal.
Fingers rip at your leggings and panties, rolling them just far enough down your ass. You think he may manage to leave you with bruises when he grabs your hips again. He is always on you, whether it’s his tongue on your neck, his hands pulling down your cami to cup your tits.
Your hands scramble behind you, desperately trying to pull at his pants. He’s quick to entertain you, bringing them down and tugging his cock a few times.
Foreplay be fucking damned. You think you’re wet enough, or at least the stretch and burn of Atsumu buried inside you will be enough to sedate your over active mind. “I need you inside me. I n- need you to fill me, ‘Tsumu.”
As much as Atsumu wants to treasure your body, give you all that you deserve, the pure desire that fills your voice drives him into a new space entirely.
His head presses at that tight ring of muscle, letting himself be lathered in your slick. Gathering spit in his mouth, he pushes it between his teeth to let it slowly drop on his cock. You whine, begging more and more. Pushing yourself back on him as best you can with your waistband keeping your thighs pressed together.
Atsumu’s thumb pushes his spit around your already stretched hole, then moving down to press against your clit. It’s enough for him to fully sheath himself, giving you the delicious burn you were hoping for.
You’ve never been fucked like this. Never been needy enough to beg for it, and fuck, maybe it’s because Atsumu seemed so eager to make you feel good before. Maybe it’s that you know you don’t have to feel anything more than his length pushing against your satin walls again and again. You’ll go home, and all the deranged things your mind made you do can stay here.
Words fall from your lips, you’ve been the one talking- begging so far. “Harder, please, please, please, fuck yes.” One large hand is holding your elbows together behind you, the other plucking at your nipples or passing over your clit. He can’t make his mind up, each one drawing a new sound from you until you're babbling under him. Going from nothing to having Atsumu smacking his hips against your ass, oversensitive everywhere as you’re grabbed and played with.
“Yeah? You can’t even beg for it anymore, huh?”
Glazed over eyes look back at him, as if his cock has been a complete shock to your system.
But you’re defiant. “P-Please,” he makes out through your gritted teeth.
It makes him think of things you both could do. Things that need safe words and more trust than he feels you’re willing to give.
He’s close, feeling his abdomen and thighs tingle and tighten. There’s some part of him that wants you to be open to ideas, open to the trust that they’d need. He would need it.
Quick thrusts slow. Atsumu moves deep and slow, his hand letting your arms go and wrapping under your chest. He almost fully pulls out before driving back in, leaving you gulping for air in short gasps. His fingers massage your clit, and instead of mocking you he’s whispering encouragement.
“You feel so good, so, hah, s’fuckin’ good. Wan— wanna make you feel it all, wanna make you feel good.”
You don’t even realise your satin walls are fluttering around him, but Atsumu does. The tightness of your pussy around him makes him want to fill you up with his cum, and then he realises. No condom. Fuck. He looks at your fucked out face, eyebrows raising in bliss.
More whispered praise against your ear, and now you can feel it too. The coil in your stomach that’s making you tighten, making you open your eyes in surprise. He’s not saying it, but all you can think about is Atsumu saying “I’ve got you” because you’re so sure he does. Holding you up and close to his body, wanting you to also feel the pleasure you can see etched across his handsome features.
Before you realise it’s happening you're falling, spasming around his cock. Repeating “‘Tsumu, ‘tsumu, ‘tsumu” in a rapturous melody. Moans echo around the locker room, and Atsumu’s pulling out from between your plush folds, leaving you to clench around nothing. His cum coats your ass, jerking himself off to completion, wishing so hard it was your cunt milking every drop from him.
Slow and sweet kisses pepper your shoulder and neck, the cheek that isn’t pressed into the metal. “You feel good?” he says softly between pecks.
“Yeah, I… I needed that.” His thumbs massage into your hips, as if he’s working out the bruises that will definitely be there tomorrow. It’s another show of care that leaves you unsettled. “Feel better without your cum on my ass.”
Atsumu lets out a low chuckle, and he steps back to admire his work. A pretty painting, if he says so himself. Tucking himself away, he has to leave you standing awkwardly to run and grab tissues. There’s sincerity in how he cleans you up too, not quick and hurried as he should be. His fingers smooth over the curve of your ass, leaving more kisses in his wake.
Once you’re clean, he neatens your hair and pulls your leggings back up. You smooth out your smudged mascara and you both head back towards the rink. It’s too quiet for too long, but before you can interrupt the silence he does.
“You wanna talk about it?”
“Hmm?” you hum.
“You said you needed it. Frustrated about something?”
The cold hits you both as you push open the doors into the rink. Makito and Faiz nod at you both before going back to their conversation. Probably about how much you suck at anything close to passion, you think, the feelings you’d just managed to smother becoming too quick to resurface.
“Uh, yeah, I guess.” His eyebrows deepen and his brown eyes are full of so much sincerity you can’t help but go on. “So, I did pairs skating for a while, like what you saw earlier.”
He lets out little hums as you talk, reassuring notes of interest. “But then I moved to singles, and lost the spark and, uh—”
“The passion.” Fuck Faiz and his fucking passion. Atsumu grins at him for a moment, and you’re waiting for the onslaught of teasing to begin, but it doesn’t. His eyes return to you, his smile stays, dropping from cheeky into something softer.
“That. Passion, the desire, the,” you gesture wildly, “the stuff that turns it from spins and jumps into a performance.”
“And that’s what you were doing with your friend?” Atsumu points at Makito.
“The lift? Yeah, seeing if I’ve still got it in pairs.”
In a flash Atsumu is lifting you for the second time today, grabbing you by the waist despite your “hey!” Your legs instinctively wrap around his waist, the breath being pulled from you as he manhandles you easily.
One large palm spreads across your back, and your body is running on it’s latest experience, curving back. Is he also thinking about what just happened, thinking about how he was going to take you like this? His face still holds onto something dark, his eyes lingering with lust. You pray your own doesn’t betray you, that you can feign it as surprise.
“That’s it! That’s the look!” Atsumu and you both turn to your coach.
His eyes wide and excited, both hands pointing at your face. Faiz is almost jumping up and down on the spot. “That’s what will make people notice! You did it!”
Your cheeks warm, watching Atsumu try to lean back also, replicating what he saw Makito do earlier. He’s strong and beautiful and everything you’re sure many women want. But with his eyebrows drawn in deep concentration, trying so hard to be elegant… He looks utterly ridiculous. Like that you’re giggling, hands having to loop around his neck to keep yourself from laughing your way to the floor.
You sound so good when you laugh. The challenge of getting it out of you is what first caught Atsumu. A smile made his drunken self feel gooey. Now sober, the noise of you trying to even your breathing as you give him a full bodied laugh. It makes him want to cup your face, marvel at your eyes creasing, the way the corners of your lips curl.
“And it’s gone again.” Faiz sighs, but it’s warm and full of so many emotions but not disappointment.
Eyes full of sweet browns and honey catch you off guard. He’s looking too intently at you. Your smile fades, body going more rigid in his hands. Atsumu lets you drop, making sure you’re steady before his hands move from your waist.
Practice starts back up, Atsumu watching from the sidelines. He can’t hear the discussion well enough between the trio on the ice, and soon his attention splits back between you and his phone.
His thumbs move quickly, typing out a ‘you’ll never believe what just happened’ to the MSBY group chat before he pauses, and presses against the backspace. To share what just happened feels wrong. It felt a little too personal. You needed him for a moment. If he was to tell the team, it’d be a fun anecdote. There’s the chance they could piece together it was with you, and if he can convince you to come to a game…
Atsumu doesn’t want to mess it up.
So instead his fingers take him to a different message, and start to type again.
Me // 11:21am
>> oi, i got a question for u
Samu🍙 // 11:24am
>> yes you need to wash everywhere. including there.
Me // 11:24am
>> ok
>> guess i’ll ask someone else
>> scrub
Samu🍙 // 11:24am
>> don’t be a baby
>> what’s up
His quick typing stops for a moment, watching you jump into Makito’s lap once more, and then the three of you are grinning and high fiving.
Me // 11:25am
>> have u ever liked someone
>> like liked
Samu🍙// 11:25am
>> are you 12 years old
>> i’ve had literal girlfriends
>> i’m trying to get ready for the lunch rush and you’re asking me about crushes?
Me // 11:25am
>> is a few days too soon to know
Samu🍙// 11:26am
>> depends i guess
>> you like someone?
Atsumu doesn’t know how to respond to that, so just hits the call button.
“I told you I’m tryna be prepared,” Osamu immediately berates his older brother, talking about how there’s only so much time before he’s going to be swarmed.
“Well, if ya shut it for a minute, I’d be able to talk.”
“Fine. So who’s my favorite twin crushin’ on?” he asks the question in a song, making Atsumu regret the call in the first place.
“I’m your only twin, dumbass,” he mutters, interrupting Osamu before they go off topic again. “I don’t know if I like her. We’ve hooked up a few times,” a gross comes from down the line, “but she’s just cool. I don’t know, dude. I just want to get to know her more.”
“So what does it matter if you like her? Just get to know her.” Coming from Osamu it seems simpler. Sometimes his thoughts can run off, get muddled and confused and overwhelming. But Osamu’s always been the calmer, the one who can keep him on track and call him out when he needs it. If Atsumu is a boat in a storm, Osamu is the anchor.
A few more words are spoken back and forth, general housekeeping to know what’s happening in each other's lives, before Osamu has to work, and Atsumu is left with his thoughts. There’s still that annoying doubt at the back of his mind. A little worm that’s dug so far down, even with someone else helping it’s hard to get out.
What if you don’t like him?
You apologise for his cold rosy cheeks and how long he had to sit and watch. He reassures you that he had fun, the both of you headed back outside into the heat of the city. You fall into place easily next to one another, walking by the river rather than ordering a car back to the hotel. Atsumu had persuaded you, protesting that without the warmth of the sun, how could he ever regain feeling in his nose.
“Next time you’ll have to get me on the ice.”
“You already impressed Faiz so much, are you sure you’re ready for the career change?”
“I’m sure a publicist could work it,” he’s quick to respond, holding hands out wide in front of the both of you, “I can see it now. The great Miya Atsumu conquers the ice skating world. Is there anything he can’t get gold in?”
“Real humble, Miya,” you say with an exasperated smile.
“Miya?” he echoes, “and here I thought I was gonna get a nickname.”
You’re either looking up at him with a quizzical stare or the afternoon sun is in your eyes. Either way Atsumu notes that it’s a cute expression, one that brings out the flecks of colour in your irises.
Pausing for a moment, people shuffle around you, going about their days in the city. Bringing his lips to your ear, you can feel the width of his smile on your cheek. “‘Tsumu, ‘Tsumu, please ‘Tsumu” he whispers the whines - your whines - much to your dismay.
Pushing him away, you’re only reminded of the hard planes of his abs, and now there’s definitely heat rising in your face. “Shut it Miya,” you wish you said with more defiance. Your grumble let’s him know he’s won your embarrassment.
“Thought ya liked it when I talked,” he teases, twisting you around by the shoulder to keep walking. The way you try and avoid eye contact only makes him want it more, and deciding between poking fun and giving in is all too difficult.
You come around quickly though, Atsumu using his seemingly effortless charisma to smooth over jokes, bring you back out of your shell. There’s a feeling that he can, innately, get people on his side. Despite his seeming arrogance and over-confidence, he takes the quips you throw at him on his shoulder. Letting deep chuckles spill off his tongue and reassuring touches whenever he responds in a similar jest.
Atsumu tugs you left and right, pointing your way back to the hotel with ease. The walk proves longer than the twenty minutes Google Maps promised you, trusting Atsumu when he says he ‘knows these streets like the back of his hand’. He does know them pretty well, at least knows that right turns should in fact be left. But the banter and laughter you two are sharing is doing more to him than the sun. It’s still surface level, discussions about plans for the week, where your home is. There’s a segment featuring each of your favorite colours, foods and films.
“Really? Rear Window?”
“What? It’s a classic!”
“The fact that you’ve even seen it surprises me.”
He goes on to explain that yes, it was the only film available at the hotel, but that he admired the determination of the main character. You wouldn’t have pegged him for watching anything considered old, or classic, let alone admiring the story. “And Grace Kelly, right?”
“I mean,” he begins sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck “yeah but—”
Your giggles quiet him.
Eventually you’re back where it began, standing outside the hotel looking at one another.
“So, are you goin’ give me your number or am I goin’ to have to beg you for it?”
“Oh, there’s a chance you’ll beg for it?”
You don’t miss the glint in his eyes, flashing quickly before it passes. “Is that a no, Goldie?”
It would be easier if it was a no. Your hands are acting on want, pulling your phone out and handing it to him with contact screen open before you can think too much about it.
“You better text me.”
“I’ll think about it.”
Atsumu hopes that you will. Maybe asking him to a meal or if you need him again, to your room. He settles that want next to another. No running before you can even walk. Like Osamu said, just getting to know one another.
Afternoon practice is long. Time spent sweating and running and jumping for hours away from his phone. He’s thinking about hyper active teammates, making sure he’s setting just right for them. Touching you right. All of his energy spent on the blue and yellow ball before him. Spending his energy on you. Then he’s on to letting his mind be consumed by proteins and carbs and what he can eat over the next week. Maybe just a film in, rather than dinner out. Thinking about Kiyoomi who’s acting all analytical, watching the group and remarking on Atsumu’s performance.
“You seem distracted.”
But he’s not, of course. He can laugh it off and joke around with Bokuto in the locker room. Purposefully not thinking about earlier in the day. His heart wouldn’t race when he finally can open up his phone. It wouldn’t thump in his chest when he checks his notifications.
Unknown Number // 5:48pm

Can I get head cannons for Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers with a goth s/o, gender neutral please and thank you
JASON AND MICHAEL WITH A GOTH S/O -- gender neutral
JASON VOORHEES
He doesn’t care what you look like he just loves you :)
If you are cuddling he will poke and rub his fingers along the spikes on your jacket
Jason will bring you animal skulls or antlers he finds in the forest
When he hears the emo music he will honestly want to ask if you are ok lol
He is an extremely curious man so anything you want to explain to him about goths or the history he will listen forever
ngl he might think you're a bit satanic at first just because he doesn’t know any better
Jason’s favourite thing is your hair, whether it's super black and long or short and teased he adores it
Will always watch horror movies with you, even though he doesn't want you to only because he thinks you’ll get scared
Honestly, I think he would love The Cure
He is very ok talking about death and darker topics with you (well he would be listening but you get it)
He is a bit of a goth himself in a weird way (he’s dead, wears a fucking chain around his neck, has bones exposed on his body, etc.), but he’s a nature goth, which makes you two perfectly align in a lot of ways
You in the morning fog in the forest makes his dead heartbeat again
MICHAEL MYERS
Depending on the Michael you like either the RZ one or the original, he would love a goth s/o
Wearing all black is 100% preferred for both of you so mixing up clothes might be an issue, just the size of his clothes would give it away.. easy laundry day tho
You best believe you are using those collars and harnesses anytime he sees you in them ;)
Michael would love the music
Like Jason, he would be very open to talking about death and very dark topics that might scare others away
Why do I have a scenario in my head where he tries on some eyeliner
He feels like you get him, two dark souls connecting in harmony
If you have pricings he will absolutely adore them, but in bed you better be careful because he is gonna pull on them
Cemetery dates :)
Night owls together
You both just come alive in October, the energy is off the charts, the cool weather lifts you both up and you both feel at home in this month
Horror movies will become a ritual for you every Friday night
On his phone your name is “💕🔪Death Angel🔪💕”
You really make his cold heart melt by your choice to live the goth life, it is so different from the rest of the people in Haddonfield and in his head you are the outsiders, but together. Always together

Night Owls Part II-Chan
Warnings: FLUFF, KISS, SOFT
Some time had passed by and the group finally made it to the middle. Y/n was still asleep on Chan's back, unable to watch her friends' reactions. In the middle of the forest was a small picnic set up. Some games to the side and a bunch of seats. Everyone stared in awe.
"She did this for us?" One of her members gasped.
"Didn't she say in an interview how she hated that she never really showed enough appreciation for us and Stray Kids?" Another member asked.
The others nodded.
"Shall we wait for her to wake up?"
~Hours later~
"Thanks for the lunch Y/n/n!" Jisung said.
"No problem!" she giggled.
"See you all!" she said, watching her friends disperse in separate directions.
"And it's just us," Chan said from next to her.
"You don't have practice or a meeting?" she asked him.
"Nope, I'm free. Wanna join me on a walk?" he asked her.
"Where are we walking?" she asked back.
"There's another beautiful path in there that I think you'd love," Chan stated.
The girl nodded, and Chan led the both of them back into the forest. Once they got in, he grabbed her hand, intertwining their fingers. A small blush crept onto his cheeks and a bright red one on Y/n's. In silence they walked for a bit, enjoying the scenery.
Birds and other small animals moved amongst the trees, chattering to their own kind. The beautiful mix of colours from flowers and other plants mixed together to create a calm yet pretty environment.
Between the two, only their soft breathes could be heard. Their feet crunched against the dirt as they walked in sync. Chan leads the way, yet he kept looking at Y/n, admiring her curious face. Her eyes were focused on their surroundings. A hint of curiosity in her eyes as she looked beyond the path.
Soon enough they arrived at a small waterfall. The small hill in front of them held the top of it, allowing the rest to flow perfectly to the bottom. Y/n's mouth fell open as she gasped at the scene. Her hand fell from Chan's, causing him to frown, and she ran toward the edge of the river. Chan watched her as she put her hand in the water like a little kid, a big smile on her face. The light peeking in through the opening of the area shone brightly, like a scene from a movie.
"Chan! Look how clear the water is! You can see all the fish!" She exclaimed.
Chan moved to her side and sat down beside her, causing the girl to also sit. She turned to him, smiling widely. Chan returned the grin and she turned away satisfied with a small blush. She stood abruptly and ran a little way down.
"What are you doing?" Chan screamed at her.
"Just give me a second!" She yelled back.
Chan watched, eager to know what was going through her mind. The girl bent behind some rocks for a few minutes before popping back up again with something in her hands. She jogged her way back and knelt by Chan.
Chan sat forward, watching curiously. Y/n opened her hands to reveal a small bunny. Chan's eyes widened at the animal and looked up to see Y/n looking at hi already.
"Isn't it super cute?" She said in a quiet voice.
"It is but where'd it come from?" he asked.
"I see in being chased by something, so I went to grab it," she stated.
Chan nodded, focusing on her beautiful orbs. How the colours in her eyes sparkled as she looked back down to the bunny. Her soft smile and mother-like nature when holding it.
"Look!" She said excitedly.
Chan looked to the side to see a mother rabbit hoping her way to her baby. Y/n handed the bunny over and pat both of them before they hoped away. Chan noticed the small sadness in Y/n's eyes as she waved goodbye, so childish. His eyes lit up at an idea though.
"Tag your it," he shouted, running away.
"Hey! You didn't give me any time!" Y/n yelled back.
She got up and chased after him, Chan dodged her for a bit. They continued playing along with the river's side, giggles and the sound of the waterfall filled the air.
Chan got bored of the side of the river and moved his way into the forest. Y/n was tagged and had to chase him. As she ran after him she tripped, Chan ran back and quickly caught her-but he tripped in the process as well. They both tumbled down, Y/n landing on Chan's chest as his back hit the ground hard.
Y/n, panicked, got up and helped Chan sit up, concern etched into every inch of her face.
"Are you okay?! Did you get hurt?" She asked questions rapidly, checking Chan over for any cuts and bruises.
Chan chuckled at the girl.
"This isn't funny! You fell down hard, why did you do that! It could've been me not you hmph," she groaned.
Chan stopped laughing and pulled her onto his lap. The girl's eyes widened in shock, a blush erupting onto her cheeks from the sudden action and position.
"Ch-Chan-" she squeaked.
"Don't say that ever again. If me getting hurt means that you don't, then let me. I don't ever want to see you hurting," Chan stated, looking her deep in her eyes.
Y/n's eyes moved everywhere, trying to avoid his gaze, but they eventually found their way back to his. She made eye contact with him and bit her lip.
"I-I'm sorry," she muttered.
Chan shook his head at her before pulling her down more. Their faces now a few inches apart. Y/n could feel Chan's breath on her lips and vice versa for Chan. Both were now blushing messes. Chan didn't know where this sudden confidence had come from. Maybe it was the beautiful forest, maybe he'd eaten something weird.
"M-may I?" Chan stuttered.
Y/n nodded, understanding what he meant. Chan leaned forward and connected their lips. Y/n kissed him back, sparks flew everywhere.
The soft yet passionate kiss seemed to last forever. Their lips moved in sync, their oxygen escaping them. They broke apart and gasped for air, looking back at each other.
"I-" before Y/n could say anything, Chan pecked her lips again.
"Don't say anything," he whispered.
The girl smiled softly, leaning her forehead onto his. Silence overtook them once more.
~A few months later~
"Chan? Why are you still up?" Y/n asked her boyfriend who had called her.
"Work, why are you up?" He asked back.
"You called me a dummy," she giggled.
"Uh uh, I know you. You won't pick up unless you're awake," he shot back.
"Ugh, fine. I-I can't sleep again..." she muttered.
"Meet me at the studio, you know the room I'm always in," Chan said.
"Okie,"
The call shortly ended, and Y/n got up. She slipped one of Chan's hoodies on over her singlet, pulling on a pair of tracky dacks. She headed out the door and on her small adventure to the studio.
She arrived no longer than 5 minutes later, softly knocking on the door. A tired voice from inside called for her to enter. As soon as she did, she saw her boyfriend. He was at the big desk, the one with all the controls and technical music stuff.
She frowned when he turned around; a pen wedged between his head and ear, hair a mess (probably from him continuously running his hand through it out of stress), his clothes were wrinkled, he slouched over and the eye bags were extremely evident (Panda who? I only know Bang Chan).
"Babe~ You made it," Chan smiled up to his girlfriend.
"Christopher Bang!" The girl scolded, shutting the door and walking towards him.
"What?" He asked curiously.
"You're overworking yourself again. You look like you've been here for an eternity!" She said concern laced through her words.
"I'm fine babe promise. But you aren't one to talk," he commented.
She rolled her eyes and pressed the back of her hand against his forehead. He was right, she looked a mess as well, but not as bad as him.
"Babe you're gonna get a fever if you continue," she frowned more.
She ran her fingers through his hair, massaging his head slightly. Chan let out a hum and pulled her onto his lap, making her squeak.
"Oh well," he mumbled, burying his face into the crook of Y/n's neck.
"If you're gonna snuggle into me, then let's go to the couch so I can be comfortable as well," Y/n muttered.
She felt Chan nod his head before he lifted her up and tiredly carried her to the couch with her complaints of being carried. He laid her down before taking up space next to her.
Y/n grabbed the throw blanket and dragged it lazily over the two. A soft smile spread on her lips when Chan moved her on top of him, allowing her to rest her head on his chest.
She felt the soft rising and falling of his chest as he breathed. His hands snaked their way to around her waist, locking her in place. Their legs tangling together like a pretzel.
"Mmm, this is much better," Chan mumbled, reaching a hand up and playing with his girlfriend's hair.
"Wanna talk about that thing?" He asked.
Y/n propped her head up, leaning her chin on his chest, looking at him. She looked off to the side in thought, a frown returning.
"I can't sleep. When I try to bad dreams fill my mind. I keep remembering every bad thing people have called me..." She trailed off, tears starting to fall.
Chan sat up, pulling her into his lap. Y/n caged Chans torso between her legs, resting her head in the crook of his neck. Chan rested his chin on her shoulder, hugging her tightly and still playing with her long curly hair.
"It's gonna be okay I promise," he started whispering sweet things to her, calming her down.
In no time she'd fallen asleep, Chan titled his head to look at her, a blush creeping onto his face. She looked perfect to him. He changed their position back to the previous one, careful not to wake her.
"Mmm, b-babe?" She muttered.
"Shh, go back to sleep Love, I've got you," he whispered to her.
Time slowed as he held her in his arms protectively yet softly. It was now early hours of the morning, the time he'd start packing up to head back to the dorm so that Chang-bin and Jisung could come and do some work.
Sleepiness started taking over his body, and soon enough his eyes shut closed.
~An hour later~
The door to the studio opened and in walked 2/3 of 3racha. Jisung and Chang-bin joked with each other as they set their bags down. Suddenly Jisung hit Chang-bins shoulder.
"What was that for?" Chang-bin groaned.
"Look," Jisung nodded his head in the direction the couch.
"Thought it was weird we didn't see Chan, guess the night owls fell asleep finally," Chang-bin chuckled.
"True that, well since they're asleep here, technically we can't work, or we'll wake them," Jisung added in.
"Trip to the shops?" Chang-bin asked.
"Let's go".
And with that, the two boys left the sleeping couple cuddled up on the studio couch.

Baldwin Montclair/OC
Chapter One - Library Query
I put my pen down roughly when a foot thumped against the back of my chair. Again. I looked over my shoulder to see a large man, a pen in his hand spinning skillfully as he read through a massive text. I blew a strand out hair out of my face and sighed.
“You’re just being irritable,” I thought. “He’ll just be a huge dick, and it is certainly not worth the trouble.”
I stretched my back as I stood, satisfied at the pops that started from my ankles and ended in the base of my neck. I had been working in the library since the opening this morning, and it was just past four in the afternoon. This had been the first day I had full access to a newly acquired collection of manuscripts given to the university, and I had been eager to make the most of the works and the previously produced literature on them. That meant I had basically been living off of iced coffees and scones. Anyone who tells you that your life changes after you graduate your undergrad… Is lying.
I took one last peak at the tall man sitting behind me, spying his toe firmly on the spoke of my chair, and rolled my eyes.
The barista smiled when I came up for another order. “Rough day?”
“Nothing out of the ordinary. How about yourself?”
We chatted briefly as she made my chai latte.
“We should make a loyalty program for you. This is what? The seventh coffee today?”
“Ninth,” I said, shrugging. “But it’s not that much caffeine compared to the usual. Need to stay awake somehow.”
I took the stairs quickly, blowing out a long breath when I reached the top. I struggled with the heavy reading room doors and knocked my arm in a way that I expected would result in a bruise.
I looked around, sipping the warm latte, and wondered where everyone had gone. It was close enough to the time that supper was served to students, but during this time of year the library rooms were usually full of undergrads preparing for midterms. I turned the corner to my hidden section and nearly dropped my drink.
All of the students sitting in the area were moved to the areas furthest from my cubicle, over which stood a man. He had to have been nearly seven feet tall, broad shoulders over which he wore an expensive-looking jumper, and copper hair was curling against the nape of the dress shirt under the jumper. He had previously been kicking my seat, but presently he was leafing through my yellow journal and had one pale hand upon the manuscript I had been analyzing. A bare hand.
I put down my latte and rushed to the table, not caring about the noise.
“What the hell are you doing?!” I explained, attempting a stage whisper. I pulled his hand away, my skin jumping at how cold his skin was, and snatched my book from his hand. “You can’t get oils on the vellum!”
I analyzed the edges of the paper carefully, not noticing any fingerprints on the delicate material.
A soft chuckle. “I was wondering when you’d be back.”
I slapped my book against the table, huffing. A head across the room raised and I lowered my eyebrows at the student.
“Not soon enough, apparently,” I gritted out, gathering up my pens that had been scattered by him moving my things.
“I was curious. Not many such books left in the world,” he said, sticking his hands in the pockets of his trousers. Those also looked very expensive, tailored to fit his long legs perfectly.
“And that is why you do not touch them. Also I lost my place. So many thanks.” I pushed hair out of my face as I pulled on a pair of gloves to touch the manuscript.
He stood over me, and I shivered painfully under his gaze. I turned on him, attempting to make my five foot four stature compare to his imposing figure.
“What?”
He raised an eyebrow, looking down at me with some bemusement. “You’re quite irritable for someone patient enough to work with manuscripts with such damage and need of restoration. Are you sure you should be touching them yourself?”
I sighed, trying not to let it turn to a noise of disdain.
“I’m trained in chemical analysis of artifacts that required organic matter. So, forgive me for not wanting people ruining such things, or tampering with my research, for that matter.” I gently closed the manuscript, picking up the heavy codex and laying it upon a parchment-lined cart with the several fragile manuscripts I had requested for the day.
“Do you have a card for that?” He laughed as he sat back in his seat, long legs resuming their place under my seat.
I frowned. “He is really getting to me,” I thought, digging into the pocket of my bag to retrieve the green card a colleague had insisted I buy. Naturally I went with the most extra design of dark green and gold text. “Here.”
He tugged on the card when I did not immediately let go, not realizing how much of a grip I had on the piece of carding. He raised an eyebrow at the card.
“Professor Germaine, associate in History, Religious Studies andArcheology. Impressive credentials, even without a PhD. Why have you not perused a doctorate yet?” His voice was surprisingly soft, making the faltering in his seemingly-perfect Received accent more evident. I could feel my eyelid twitch.
“I think that’s my business.”
He continued to look at me, and I became suddenly very self-conscious. I knew it was because the utter panic of seeing him pawing at my poor manuscript was wearing off, and I only had so much time left to face off with him. I was in ill-fitting clothes, covered with a massive cardigan, and had my hair in a messy bun that really did nothing to keep the hair out of my face. I looked like a schlumpy Gibson girl with owl-eyed glasses. Maybe old hippie lady was a better descriptor. He looked so much at ease, mouth tilted expectantly, thick auburn eyebrows quirked at me.
I raised my own eyebrow. “I was a junior curator at my alma mater for several years. I decided to go into an archival branch of studies rather than curation and restoration. Savvy?”
“Certainly not. Where was your alma mater?”
I chewed my lip. “Trinity. In Dublin.”
He nodded. “That is quite impressive. Quite a few famous names.”
I tried to stop myself from grinning. “Only a few.”
“Who’s your favourite? Newton, Wilde?”
I looked down, the back of my neck buzzing with lost adrenaline. “Hozier.”
I turned away from him, packing my things up into my bag and tearing off my gloves.
I did not look at him again, knowing I was just going to get that weird look. He seemed bemused and confused. “Confusing, more like,” I thought.
“I don’t know him. Poet?” He was before me again, handing me one of my bibliographic books. I snatched the item from his hand, my heart pounding again. I stubbornly kept my gaze down, feeling his cold gaze on me again. What was it with this guy??
“Thank you,” I said bitterly. I turned away from him and began to push the cart off toward the hold room for the library staff. They needed the manuscripts brought back each day I was done, and I had a key checked out for the time being so I could access materials without the help of the archive staff. I was not done, however I felt as though this man was chasing me away.
“No goodbye?”, he called after me.
I did not look his way, swinging my bag over my shoulder. “Nope. I’ve decided I don’t care much for you.”
As I was rounding the corner, I swore I heard him chuckle and mutter “Pity.”
I was shivering, teeth chattering, as I walked swiftly across the main floor of the library. I looked up to see him looking down at me from the floor where the reading room was located. I quickly drew my gaze away, practically running out of the library.

Old to new
I guess you could call me weird. My name is Animal but everyone calls me Ani. I have brown hair and green eyes. I’m 3 feet 6 inches. So you could also called me tiny. The problem is, that’s my full height. My doctor says I’m done growing. But that’s not even the weirdest thing. The weirdest is: I hear voices no one else hears. If you ever see me really wild I’m probably hearing one crying for help. Those are the worst for me. I’m very peaceful. It makes me want to scream for help myself. I never do that, because I’m a really quiet person. Unlike my dear parents. They’re tall, loud, and forceful.Which is the exact opposite of me. They’re both almost 7 feet. So I’m not hard to deal with, being almost half their size. At school everyone thinks I’m in kindergarten, not 6th grade. I’m called shrimp and other names. The only place where no one can affect me is outside. I wish I could always be outside. Little did I know my wish would come true. Now where it began to become true was my room. I go to bed when I want. But I’m responsible and go to bed pretty early. I picked my sheets, so they have animals and plants as the design. I love them very much. The day before my 12th birthday. My birthday is the last official day of spring. So it’s the most beautiful.. Not sick or anything just… off. I tried reading think maybe I was just really excited. That didn’t work so I just went to bed. I actually was kind of excited for the next day. Strangely I didn’t dream that night. I normally dream. Now I know why but then… I didn’t. When I opened my eyes I was trapped. At first I thought I was finally dreaming but then I heard my alarm. I wake up to the songs of birds. Today was a chorus day. So it was a bit louder then normal. So I was awake, and curled up in the middle of my blanket. But when I stretched, I barely moved. When I looked at myself I realized… I was only ½ an inch tall! I had been shrunk, which is why I was feeling off yesterday. I wanted to call for help, but first, I had to get out of my blanket.
“Look at the tiny ones struggles!” a voice rang out...laughing.
“So funny now she’s smaller than us,” another voice rang out- also laughing.
“Be nice to her. She was always so nice to us. Greeting us by name,” A third voice rang out. But this one was scolding. By that time I had found the edge of the blanket and climbed out. I recognized Berry (a Blue Jay), Rosy (a Cardinal), and Owl (a Mourning Dove). Owl was glaring at the others.
“We’re sorry, we didn’t mean any offense. It was just funny to us,” they chorused
“No offense taken” I told them. Berry flew over then.
“Climb on little one,” she told me and i obeyed. As soon as I was settled she spread her wings and flyed. Rosy and Owl imitated her. But Owl soon parted company with us. I was too happy to notice. Flying was amazing! When I did Owl was soaring back but, someone was on her back. Someone who looked exactly like me except... more comfortable flying. But as we neared each other I felt like something had been reawakened in me. Owl pulled up alongside Berry. The girl stared at me and I stared at her. We might have started talking if both birds hadn’t curved downward all of a sudden. I fell off surprised at the sudden move. If my instincts hadn’t taken over this story would already be over. I grabbed a near by leaf. I made it into a parachute, and when I reached the ground I let go of it and rolled. As I got to my feet my “friend” dropped beside me.
“Explain. now,” she commanded me
“My name’s Animal and I was shrunk last night. I don’t know why or how. Then Berry took me here.” I told her all I knew.
“How old are you?” She sounded curious now.
“Today’s my 12th birthday.” She looked confused at me
“That’s the same as me. My name’s Flower by the way. But everyone calls me Flow.” she told me sounding...hesitant
“Well everyone calls me Ani, it just sounds more normal they say.” I told her cheerfully.
“I had a twin sister with that name. If that name, if you’re her then that would explain the feeling-” she started
“That some part of you were woken at the sight of me?”I interrupted. She nodded. “I had the same one” her eyes widened at that.
“So it could be…. Ani?” she asked quietly. “Maybe that’s why we’re so alike. Maybe that explains the feeling. I’ll take her to Mom.” I didn’t see Flow’s mouth move, yet I heard her clearly in my head. Was I hearing her…. Thoughts? She started walking away before realizing I wasn’t following, not understanding what she was doing. Or so she thought. She beckoned for me to follow. I did still confused. “Ani can you hear me? I’m just testing if we really are twins.” once again I heard her thoughts but this time they were aimed towards me
“Loud and clear.” I told her by thought.
“Thought so. But you’re not like me. You were big.” She informed me speaking out loud this time.
“Key word is
in that sentence,” I told her. She just snorted and sped up. I rolled my eyes and grabbed a low branch. I swung after her. She didn’t tell me I couldn’t act like a monkey. Besides it was fun. She followed the path to the mushroom patch that could never be removed. But they weren’t just mushrooms. They were mushroom houses. When we were close enough that I had to stop, I swung down. As I walked behind Flow, people stopped and stared at me. That happened all the way to a blue-green mushroom house. Which was Flow’s house. She approached and knocked on the door calling out:
“Mom you home?” As she finished a woman poked her head out. She beamed, opening the door to amite us. As soon as Flow stepped inside, the woman swept her into an embrace. Both had a brief conversation that I didn’t catch. They turned to me curiosity in their gazes. But then they noticed I was still in my PJ’s. Flow slipped off, she returned and tossed me some clothes. I was shown the bathroom, where I changed. They fit perfectly. Of course, they were probably some of Flow’s clothes. I reemerged now dressed and very awkward. While I had been changing Flow and her mom had gotten busy. Flow’s Mom was cooking a meal. Flow herself was cleaning and repairing the place. I realized that just like me she had a power. But hers was plant powers, mine animal. Hence our names. That suddenly made a lot of sense to me. Named after our powers but how everyone calls Flow something different as if they are trying to cover her powers up. As if something had happened to her at a young age. Like the disappearance of her twin sister. My thoughts would have wandered farther if Flow hadn’t butted in.
“Yep. You are very much correct. But now that my twin has returned I’m not sure I’m happy about it,” she sent me the message telepathically. Which was very rude, listening to my private thoughts. I would have started on her if an alarm hadn’t started blaring just then. I vaguely recognized it, remembering it warned of danger. Flow and her mom ran out the door as soon as they heard it. I knew I should do the same, but I didn’t. I was very confused. How did I recognize it, if I had never heard it before? Then I remembered. The night I was stolen. I was only 1. The same alarm started and my parents grabbed us and ran. My father was too slow. He and I were caught. I never saw him again. but before I could remember more, a foot caved the entrance. That jutted me crudely out of my thoughts. I scrambled back, not sure if the other foot was coming. I heard a bellow and the foot lifted. Someone must have hit it. I crawled to the window. By the time I looked the two people had reached the door and entered. But not before I saw they were carrying jars. I needed to know more about my past. I don’t remember much before my 8th birthday. But I could remember more. I just had to find out how. But first I needed to stop the Rufins. I don’t know why I remembered that now of all times but it helped to have something to call them. Other than big people. I know they aren’t my parents. They never were. But my real parents don’t really know me. I didn’t know where I belonged anymore. I decided to figure that after the Rufins were contained. So I started on my journey. I moved the rubble that had been the door. Then when I was able to crawl outside, I called for Berry. She didn’t respond, so I started walking. Flow must have noticed, because soon after she caught up and tossed me a pack. In it were clothes, a sword, food, and other survival necessities. She had an identical pack. I realized she was there to help. Plus, she didn’t leave once she gave me the pack. I probably could use the help though. So I didn’t mind she tagged along. Besides she was really stubborn so she would have stayed even if I told her to go. So really I had no choice in the matter. Besides she was useful. She apparently spied on the Rufins often. We camped in a well used spot. That was about half way. When we started out again in the morning a rumbling noise began. It was an earthquake. An earthquake that forced us into a small crack in the ground. The crack wasn’t too deep. But it was deep enough that we couldn’t get back out again. We tried going the same way we had been heading. But we got lost. So we just sat down where we were. To pass the time, I asked how there came to be little and big people. So she told the story.
“Once there was only big people. Some had powers like you and me. They would become that small people. The powerless people got jealous. One day, one of them found a chance to get rid of the powers. The powerless squashed one young child . He died. But to prevent others from suffering the same fate, he turned them small. The now big people were thrilled! We were easier to catch. But we became hard to find. That’s because we all had nature powers. So we hid with nature. For a while no Rufin could find us. But in the end, they found us. But by then we were like ants. There were a lot of us.” She finished with a flourish. But that’s when the cat turned up. The cat’s name was Swipe, and he technically belonged to the Rufins. But he’s a wild cat. He hunts for himself. But he thought we would make good prey.
“Swipe stop” I told him before he could leap at us. He froze when he heard me speak cat. I grabbed Flow’s hand to drag her to him. “It’s okay. He‘s our ride to the Rufins!”I whisper to her. She nods and climbs on. I climb on behind her. “Alright Swipe take us to the house,” I instructed him. He shot off to the destination set for him. Both Flow and I were clinging on for dear life. When we reached the basement of the house we slipped off and started climbing the stairs. When we reached the top we have to climb the cabinets. We find the jars that contain the others and free them. They run down the stairs to be carried away by Swipe. Flow and I hide, getting ready for the Rufins to return home. Both of us draw our swords as we hear the front door open. It was slightly comical. The sword was basically a very sharp thorn on a handle. But it was still dangerous. The kitchen door opened. I tensed, ready to strike when Flow gave the signal. His hand reached for the cabinet above me. That’s when Flow gave the signal. We struck in harmony. He tried to swipe us off, but we just leaped to a new place each time. We stopped and surveyed our work. It was…. Amazing. He had many cuts. He wouldn’t forget our message in a hurry.
“So will you stop terrorizing us?” Flow demanded.
“Yes! I will” He bellowed in pain.
“And will your wife do the same?” I inquire
“Most likely. Once she sees the damage you did.” he whimpered. We smiled pleased and leaped off the counter.
“So what now? How will we get out?” Flow murmured to me.
“The bedroom I was forced to use? Last I knew the window was open,” I suggest. She nods and heads for the stairs. When we reached the room, I called out for a little help.
“Owl, Berry we need a little assistance.” They flew in the open window. We mount on them and take off. When we flew out the open window a cheer went up. Everyone from the village and all the animals were cheering for
When we reached the village, the mayor came to have a chat with Flow. I wasn’t to be included. Everyone moved after Flow and the mayor. I went to my welcome back and congratulations party. All the animals were proud of me. Well I knew I was welcome
If no one in the village wanted me I could live with any of the animals. Even Swipe. Soon Flow turned up and had me come back to the village. Apparently the mayor thought I slowed Flow down and was only a little help. She shut that down right away. She had told him half of it was thanks to me.
“You didn’t have to do that Flow!” I told her
“Did too little Ani!” She told me telepathically. I smiled at that. Nowadays you couldn’t tell us apart, if we weren’t using our powers. But I was happy. I was where I belonged. With my twin Flow, and our mom.
I’m Home.

This is a ref sheet for The Judge... obviously. He's a big owl man who usually stands at about ten feet tall, but when he straightens his back, he can stand at about fifteen feet. He doesn't do this often, partly because he's an old man with old muscles and bones, and partly because he still has to go through doorways and halls that he can barely fit through when he isn't hunched over.
A huge explanation of him and his character can be found under the cut. I warn you--it’s a huge read, but I’m really excited about it.
The Judge is the Chief Judge of the judicial department of the corrupt Waypoint City. He is the person that handles appeals when they go to the highest order. Although he hasn't fallen victim to the corruption and is determined not to, people still fear him. There are a multitude of reasons for this:
His overall appearance makes him stand out in the worst possible ways. Not only is he excessively taller than most people, but he is also built differently than everyone else in the city. While the overwhelming majority of citizens lean more into human characteristics, The Judge leans more towards his animalistic side. He still maintains the ability to speak and socialize like everybody else, it's just his appearance is largely off-putting.
Combine that with the timbre of his voice, and he can very easily make his presence well-known. His voice claim is Christopher Lee. It draws attention to him even when he doesn't want it to, though it helps when calling the court to order and keeping the court from erupting into chaos.
The Judge does not go out into public very often, if at all. The reason for this is unknown to the public, but the only place that he can frequently be found at is the courthouse at night when he has a hearing or is scheduled for work. Otherwise it's almost impossible to find him elsewhere.
The Chief Judge before him was a tyrant who reveled in the corruption and claimed people guilty when they ought not to have been. Although The Judge has been shown to have a far better track record in terms of determining if someone is guilty or innocent, people still fear that he might suddenly turn on them. It's not as if it hasn't happened before, and the people who are guilty disappear from the face of the Earth. No one knows where they go.
Even if people weren't afraid of the above reasons, the fact still stands that your fate rests in his talons. If he decides that you are guilty, then there is no knowing what will happen to you. If for some reason The Judge decides he doesn't like you or believes that the facts don't fall under your favor, he can so easily call you 'Guilty' and have you disappear to God knows where.
The reason why The Judge can not be found elsewhere is because he hides away in order to avoid corrupted individuals 'taking care' of him. He recognizes that he is one of the only people in his court that isn't victim to the saturated corruption that underlies the belly of the city, and that the only thing that is keeping the city from submitting to it completely is him. He believes that, whoever the people pulling the strings are, they are looking to either sway him to join them or 'take care' of the problem by some other means.
He's not going to give them that privilege, but he will happily uproot most of the suspicious helpers of his court--baliffs, bench clerks, magistrates... but not all of them. He needs to keep a close eye on the lucky few that remain. It's as the saying goes: Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. And, well... what better way to do that than to keep the rats on a leash?
Other information:
He's a fairly old man. His temperament is a little flimsy at times and his body is not as it used to be.
He can fly. He just doesn't do it often because a) it exhausts him and b) he's old.
He had a fiancée.
When he gets angry, he hisses. When he gets really angry, his voice breaks and becomes croaky. Like old Merlin's. He hates it.
Most of the reasons why he can come across as intimidating in court is due to surprisingly simple reasons. His court hearings happen at night? He's literally an owl, so he's nocturnal and it'd fuck up his circadium rhythm too much. His talons click eerily on the wood? He had to get the carpet removed because his talons would keep getting caught in it. The room is dark? He spends hours at a time in the courtroom, and too much light for long periods of time give him chronic migraines.
When he's experiencing a panic response, his pupils dilate.
He still eats live animals. The animals just have to be... bigger than mice. Many dogs and cats were harmed in the making of this character. I'm sorry.
He has a hard time using his feathers to hold things. So, when he has to sign permits and warrants, he usually dips a talon into ink and signs that way. And when he has to use a gavel, he... I don't know, he slams a slab of wood on a pedestal under the desk?
He always has a weird smell about him. This isn't his natural 'musk'. He has a reason for smelling like this, and it's health-related.
He usually does wear clothes. I just have no idea how he'd wear them. The judge robe was hard enough to figure out.
He enjoys literature--particularly novels, books and poetry. He's a large fan of Edgar Allan Poe.
He's such a big fan of Poe that if he didn't have feathers and wasn't a judge, he'd probably get a tattoo of his name or face somewhere.
He posts reviews and analyses books under a 'pen name' on the internet. Because he doesn't have the best 'feather' dexterity, he uses a voice-to-text program. He prefers it anyway, because it helps him get his thoughts out better.
His 'pen name' is actually his real name. In Waypoint City, he is only known as 'The Judge'.
He doesn't sleep lying down. He has a large, hollow tree trunk that he had transported in his bedroom that he climbs into in order to sleep.
Speaking of living situations, The Judge technically has two houses--one that's in the city and acts as a decoy, and one that he actually lives at deep in the woods. They're connected by an underground pathway. He suspects that the building might have used to be a speakeasy or something of the sort.
He lives alone.
He's always wanted to have a child. He'd make a great father.
The reason he's the current Chief Judge is because the population was so eager to get the one before him out of the courthouse that they focused their attention on electing him... which he's perfectly fine with. He's glad that it turned out that way.
Another reason why he keeps his distance from others is to maintain an impartial decision in court. Despite everything else, he has an empathy issue that meshes problematically with his passion for justice.
He takes his job very seriously.
So, what do you all think of the character? Do you love him? Hate him? I personally love him to bits and pieces, but I'm curious about what you guys think, so reblog with your opinion, leave a reply or send an ask if you feel so inclined!
Thank you, and have a great day!

CHARACTER PROFILES: KIM TAEHYUNG
Kim Taehyung
House Ravenclaw
Wand: Cypress Wood - Unicorn Hair - 13 3/4
Patronus: Mongrel Dog
Cypress
Cypress wands are associated with nobility. The great medieval wandmaker, Geraint Ollivander, wrote that he was always honoured to match a cypress wand, for he knew he was meeting a witch or wizard who would die a heroic death. Fortunately, in these less blood-thirsty times, the possessors of cypress wands are rarely called upon to lay down their lives, though doubtless many of them would do so if required. Wands of cypress find their soul mates among the brave, the bold and the self-sacrificing: those who are unafraid to confront the shadows in their own and others’ natures.
Unicorn
Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic, and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard. Minor disadvantages of unicorn hair are that they do not make the most powerful wands (although the wand wood may compensate) and that they are prone to melancholy if seriously mishandled, meaning that the hair may ‘die’ and need replacing.
Headcanons:
WOOOO TAEHYUNG'S TURN
He's my bias wrecker
I'm so ready
First and foremost I really really feel like he's a ravenclaw because ravenclaws don't strictly honor the intelligent or the geniuses but the eccentric-thinkers and curious learners as well which i think taehyung fits perfectly
Like 90% of the time nobody knows what goes on in his head
He'll say something stupid or weird once but then something really smart and sensible 5 seconds later
The sorting hat actually had a really hard time sorting him because taehyung is really just a ball of everything
But he loves being in ravenclaw because their common room is in a tower and he can stargaze all he wants
I like to think of him as that one oddball ravenclaw who isn't like all the other ravenclaws who would rather search for answers in books
Taehyung is more of the hands-on explorer type of guy
Most people wonder why he's in ravenclaw in the first place when he resembles more of a gryffindor but taehyung strongly believes that bravery means pursuing knowledge as well
His favorite subject is Care of Magical Creatures
Hagrid is his bff
Omg can you imagine
Hagrid showing everyone the Blast-Ended Skrewt and all the other students are backig away in terror while Taehyung just runs up to one like "Hey! Can I pet one!!!???"
He names one of the skrewts "sparky"
It makes hagrid's giant heart feel hella soft
Rubeus Hagrid is an amazing character who deserves to be loved and appreciated-
Taehyung becomes assistant groundskeeper and helps Hagrid take care of all his magical creatures
He idolizes Newt Scamander
Sometimes you'll find him around the castle grounds or at the lake looking for kappas
He's always outdoors and covered in dirt or with his pant legs and cloak wet
He probs looks adorable like that omg my heart hurts just thinking about it
Taehyung is also really good at Transfiguration and he loves the idea of being able to turn one thing into another thing
Most of the time though he'll transfigure one thing into another thing entirely though
Like professor mcgonagall will be asking them to transfigure an inkwell into a goblet and taehyung will turn his into a fricking eagle or something
"Am i doing it right professor??"
And mcgonagall is speechless because yeah he didn’t turn it into a goblet but dang how the fuck did this kid turn it into an eagle????
Eventually mcgonagall helps taehyung control his magic a bit more until he's practically the best transfiguration student in his year
Professor also has a soft spot for taehyung and lowkey wishes he was in gryffindor instead
All the professors have a soft spot for taehyung even professor snape
But taehyung is HORRIBLE at potions class
He's set his own cauldron on fire a million times
He really tries his best though
But he's so clumsy he'll knock ingredients around everywhere and professor snape is just watching him with a stream of gordon ramsay insults all ready to use ("what are you? an idiot sandwich")
But then he sees taehyung's proud smile at making a semi-decent potion even though most of his robes and hair are singed off and there are burns on his fingers and (omg is his skin turning blue?????) Snape just sighs and just lets him barely pass with a grade of P
Taehyung is also a half-blood so he was pretty much raised with the best of both worlds but there's no denying he loves the magical world more
During summer breaks you'll see him looking for bowtruckles in the forest near his grandparents' farm
He takes really good care of what he catches too. Sometimes he'll even bring home a wounded creature to nurse it back to health
His room is a zoo basically
At the same time Taehyung misses his family and a bit of the muggle world when he leaves for hogwarts
I have a feeling his owl is the most tired out of all the owls in school because taehyung writes to his family so much and his family loves sending him gifts
Fuck this makes me feel hella soft i need to throw up
Tae also really misses playing video games
Shit omg a headcanon where he and jungkook try to find a way to play video games somehow while they're in hogwarts
Remind me to do that later
He's not into quidditch so much unlike his bffs jimin and jungkook
But he is an AWESOME cheerleader
He'll cheer his friends even when they are on opposing teams
He becomes the next Quidditch commentator later on
Most of the time he just comments on how amazing his friends are though
"Wowww look at Hoseok looking dynamite as usual"
"Aaaand there goes our Golden Seeker Jungkookie. Ladies, and gentlemen, he's single by the way"
Lol it lowkey annoys jungkook because he'll be greeted with more fangirls when the game is over
Taehyung is also an expert at pulling pranks
He can get anyone in on his pranks as well
He uses it as a weapon too to get back at people who mess with his friends or his fave professors
He once got jungkook to help him sprinkle itching powder on the beds of some slytherins who were rude to Hagrid in class
Nobody messes with taehyung’s fam
Did i mention he's also THE fashion icon in hogwarts???
He brings fashion magazines with him in his trunk when he goes to school
And after he gets really good at Transfiguration he can change his hogwarts robes into the latest muggle fashion
Taehyung loves giving fashion advice to his friends and pretty much anyone who asks him
He also does it to boost their self-confidence
Omg imagine people with body-image issues coming up to taehyung and asking him to help them look beautiful
And he gives them fashion advice and everything but he always reminds them that clothes only enhance whats there and that they dont need to change a thing about their physical appearance if they dont want to and they're already beautiful as they are
Imagine taehyung giving hagrid the most beautiful winter coat ever that looks like it was made of dragon scales and the dark blue and black colors remind him of Norbert and hagrid ends up wearing it all the time
He's so proud of what his student gave him and also because hagrid finds it so hard to find nice clothes in his size
Fuck this makes me so soft and taehyung makes me so soft ughhh
Love yourself tho guys

Survivor Daemons
Here’s a whole bunch of blabber that no one asked for about my Dbd daemon AU, featuring the reasoning behind the forms of the survivor’s daemons and a little about their personalities. Why? Because I can and I felt like typing a whole bunch of stuff that no one will read
There are a lot of additional rules and complications for daemons in trials, and I’m probably going to make a separate post both for that and for the Killer’s daemons (or... current lack thereof), because this got VERY long.
And before we get started, here’s a plug for my currently abandoned fic playing with this concept. Ima get back to it at some point.
First off, I had some limits for survivor forms. Their daemons have to be small, and easy to carry around in a trial. Most of them ended up being birds, with a couple of exceptions. Also, only a couple of the names mean anything- I got almost all of them from a fantasy name generator and just picked one that sounded nice.
Dwight and Zefrita
Zefrita (Zeffie) is a mourning dove, and I chose her form for a couple of reasons. Mourning doves are entirely defenseless against their predators (except for natural camouflage) and are therefore very flighty, anxious birds. They are also known for forming close, lifelong pair-bonds, and since Dwight’s perks are all about teamwork and literal bonds between survivors, that seemed to resonate with him.
Zefrita is a very quiet daemon, and only talks to the other survivor’s daemons (and Dwight, of course). While Dwight stammers and hesitates a lot when he’s flustered or anxious, Zefrita only talks when they have enough conviction about something that she can articulate it clearly. So, it’s a pretty big deal if she says something important- it usually means that it is.
Meg and Skiflit
Skiflit (Skif) is a northern goshawk. I used this analysis to come up with his form, mostly because of the interpretations of loyalty, determination/being goal-driven, and assertiveness, which I all think fit with Meg- or at least, my version of Meg, who’s caring but a bit of a hothead.
Skif talks about as much as Meg does, which is quite a lot, especially in fireside arguments. He’s also the most likely to get physical with the other daemons, whether aggressively or for support/comfort.
Jake and Dancha
Dancha (Dawn) is a raccoon, which I just love for Jake for so many reasons and I was so happy that the form analysis worked out. It really boils down to what he said in the actual fic- they’re highly adaptable/resourceful, conflict-avoidant, and independent animals. Their also curious but in a killed-the-cat sort of way, which seems true to Jake’s character to me.
Dawn tends to let Jake do most of the talking, and really only interacts with the original four survivors daemons, sometimes including Nea and Laurie’s daes if she feels up to it. She and Jake are pretty slow to trust, and even though they feel perfectly comfortable around all the survivors (though they clash with Ace) Dawn keeps her interactions to a minimum to stay in her comfort zone. They don’t have much of any comfort left, after all.
Claudette and Laefertes
Laefertes (Laef) is a barn owl, and I actually think I named him after Laertes from Hamlet for some reason? I think I just had the name stuck in my head, no significance to it. The two traits that really stuck out to me for his form were barn owls having a surprising amount of foresight in caching their extra food and their egg care habits, and the analysis I read also listed owls as being very perceptive, for obvious reasons, which fits well with Claudette’s Empathy (perk and trait) to me.
Claudette and Laef are kind of the greeters of the group, so when someone new shows up at the campfire they do all the explaining and “welcome to a Bad Time” talk. Claudette tends to say more comforting things than hard truths, and Laef compliments her by being the opposite- almost anything out of his mouth is what needs to be said, not necessarily what people want to hear.
Nea and Bayonai
Bayonai (Bayo) is a Siamese cat and listen I have a lot of reasons for it. He’s a cat for obvious reasons- Baker literally describes Nea as catlike in the journal entry- as well as cats being generally friendly, but independent for the most part. Siamese cats in particular are known for being loud attention seekers like no other, and we know that Nea was the epitome of Rebellious Teen (tm) in her day. They also tend to be curious (again, in a killed-the-cat sort of way).
Bayo is my favorite daemon of the bunch, probably because I started writing him first. He and Nea are less counterparts of one another than they are the same person divided into two parts. Bayo has a little more of their caution, but he’s like the friend who is saying “this is a terrible idea, oh my god” while filming it. They have street smarts more than school smarts, but Bayo has a little bit of an edge on Nea when it comes to critical thinking.
Laurie and Aurelio
Aurelio (Ori, which accidentally means they’re Laurie and Ori) is a European robin. His name comes from the Latin word for golden. His form was really hard to find, mostly because the original survivors have just a few canon character traits, whereas Laurie Strode has a whole franchise worth of characterization to sort through. I ended up just using Halloween I and II for my form finding. I used this analysis for Aurelio and I don’t have much to say about it, other than I was relieved to finally find a form that fit.
Aurelio and Laurie are Survivors (tm) in the truest sense of the word, so in my ‘verse they’re kind of dry and cynical. Aurelio tends not to talk very much, and when he does he often says things that are too dark for the conversation he’s contributing to, and is reprimanded by Laurie. They had a perfectly normal human-daemon bond before Myers, but it changed after, and they were never the same.
Ace and Kesina
Kesina (Kess or occasionally Kesi) is an American bullfrog. She’s the only reptile form among the survivors. I’m honestly not even going to say anything else about her form, just link to the analysis because IMO it’s so Ace it hurts. Laid-back is the main trait that I like that I don’t see listed as a major point in the analysis, but frogs are chill as fuck.
Kesina says all the sarcastic and biting things that Ace doesn’t, but in a dismissively calm way that gets a rise out of whoever she’s said it to. Not that he wouldn’t, it’s just funnier if she calls Jake a dumbass in Argentine Spanish than if he does. She and Ace talk to each other almost exclusively in that dialect when they’re being snarky or sarcastic, even if they’re doing the “what do you want to have for dinner!?” routine, because no one can understand what they’re saying and it pisses everyone else off.
Bill and Portril
Portril (no nickname) is a summer tanager, a kind of smallish songbird. Frankly there’s not very much personality lore for Bill out there, even in what Left 4 Dead stuff I tried to dig up, so I went with my personal HC’s for him- grumpy and quiet but altruistic and perceptive old man. Here’s the analysis if anyone is actually reading this, but this is more for my own benefit let’s be real. There’s not a ton of real solid behavior for summer tanagers, but I liked what this person wrote so I went with it.
Bill is quiet and Portril is quieter. Bill contributes a few sentences to the conversation at the campfire every now and then, but the majority of the survivors have never heard Portril say a word.
Feng and Maeslin
Maeslin (Maes) is a numbat (google it), and tbh I should have picked a Chinese-sounding name for him, but I’m too attached to Feng having a daemon she calls Mace to change it. I’d never heard of a numbat before form finding for Feng, but I love how well the weird little things fit with her character. Numbats are specialized eaters and ONLY eat termites. They have to eat 20,000 of the things a day to stay alive. What I get out of that is that the are specialized/single-focus type people, like Feng and her gaming, and work really fucking hard to be good/keep at it.
I haven’t done a lot of thinking about Maes’ personality. I think he and Feng are a Chaotic Neutral disaster duo. He’s a very mobile daemon and tends to climb all over Feng, never staying in one place for too long- it’s a habit he learned very quickly to not bring into trials.
David and Ezriana
Ezriana (Ez) is a magnificent frigatebird and it’s SUCH a shame that she’s not male, because the main reason I picked that form for David is because of the absolute pompous showoffs that male frigatebirds are with that throat pouch of theirs. Frigatebirds are also known for being opportunistically aggressive and basically getting into fights with other species of coastal birds to steal their catches. There’s some more, non-fighty traits that made me decide on frigatebird for Ezriana, but those are really the two main reasons I picked it.
Ezriana is kinda the “kick his ass baby I got yo flower” of the pair, and she always tends to kind of stay out of the thick of it, circling overhead and yelling out insults and encouragement. Her actual personality is pretty laid back when not in conflict mode, and she’s pretty good for conversation around the campfire. Her way of talking is a little more... coherent.. than David, who’s excitable and can get a little carried away.
Quentin and Nynta
Nynta (Nyn, pronounced Nihn) is an earwig. Earwigs are tough little insects and are very adaptable and actually protect their eggs and then care for their young, showing a lot of duty and dedication. I think that fits with what I managed to gather of Quentin’s role in NoES 2010, which I haven’t actually watched. Additionally, fitting into the daemonverse, earwigs are very small, and Quentin keeps Nynta in a lanyard, so that Freddy and no one else has any possible access to touching her.
Nynta never talks, period. No one knows what her and Quentin’s relationship is like, taking into consideration Laurie and Aurelio’s slightly trauma-damaged bond, but everyone knows that Nynta probably doesn’t trust anyone. They’ve never seen her outside of her clear plastic lanyard, which locks from the inside with a one digit combination that only Nynta can open. I imagine she probably settled during the events of NoES 2010.
Tapp and Soliel
Soliel (Sol) is a Florida scrub jay. Scrub jays are committed birds, both to their mates and their territory, and keen and clever observers of what happens in their area and to their things (food caches and stuff). These to me seem like good traits to match a detective’s personality. These birds are also highly specialized to their environment, though, and are unadaptable- that combination of traits makes sense, because Tapp became borderline obsessed with the Saw case in his lore.
Soliel is as focused as her human is, and accepts facts and information readily. Being older than most of the others, she tends not to talk too much unless they’re having an interesting discussion, rather than a time-killing or social conversation.
Kate and Torelian
Torelian (Tori) is a fennec fox. Fennec foxes are super extroverted and sociable animals, and tough critters that are well adapted for going long periods of time without commodities, but not without other people around them. Kate traveled a lot for her music career, but she seems to me like a caring and outgoing person that really connected with her fans. He also matches her aesthetic, and is a cute/attractive form- perfect for a performer’s daemon.
Torelian is as much of a performer as Kate. He can’t play and instrument, but they can sing duets and are, of course, completely in sync at all times. It’s great for cheering up the campfire after rough trials and moments of (extra) hopelessness. He’s a good ear to talk to and offers wholesome advice.
Adam and Samia
Samia (no nickname) is a northern cardinal. I chose the form this morning and frankly I’m tired of resummarizing bird analyses at this point, so here ya go.
I’ve done no character exploration for Samia yet, might edit this when/if I come up with some more for her. Most of the daemons outside the first five or six I’ve done more developing here than otherwise, so we’ll see!
If you got this far you’re my new favorite human, and thank you for listening to my impassioned rambling about my two current hyperfixations mashed into one <3

natsume and kanata for bedroom and bathroom !
you can find bathroom for kanata here ♥
Bedroom
How does this character sleep? (Position, sleeping habits, bedtime routines)
Natsume isn’t terribly concerned about sleeping. He’d much rather finish the game he’s been playing recently or his latest experiment first ! He tends to stay up until late as he’s a night owl. When he sleeps, he often almost passes out on his bed, with his controller or book still in hand (someone help him)
Kanata needs to relax before bed, or else he just won’t fall asleep. He likes listening to relaxing music or nature sounds, especially the sound of the waves, and often falls asleep with his headphones still on. He sleeps surrounded by all his favorite plushies !
What are their pyjamas like?
Natsume’s are whatever clothes he found and was wearing that evening. It’s not good to be picky, after all !
Kanata’s are blue, fluffy and really soft ! He loves to hide under his blanket in them, he feels so warm and nice… Plus, they have a cute fish design.
What do they dream about usually?
Natsume’s dreams usually vary between “it was okay i guess” and “what the hell was that”. He likes to take notes of what he remembers and analyze them. Maybe his mind is sending him a message, and if there’s one, he will crack it !
Kanata has psychedelic dreams that are honestly more explosions of colors than actual dreams. He likes them anyway, anything but the nightmares is perfect to him.
How neat/tidy is this character?
Natsume is… artistically messy. He insists his desk is perfectly tidy and organized, but to untrained eyes it just looks like a godawful mess of papers, binders and stacked empty coffee cups.
Kanata thinks a bit of chaos is always nice, but he still likes tidying up his room : he thinks it’s calming. Everyting has a rightful place… it’s so easy. He’d like to effortlessly find the place where he belongs too…
How affectionate is this character?
Natsume is affectionate, in his own weird way. He’ll tease the person he loves endlessly, analyze their every reaction and attempt to push them to their limits, but it’s only because they fascinate him, of course.
Kanata too has his own unique way to show affection. He’s not the chattiest, but he likes to stand close to those he loves, gently being by their side in case they need him. He loves long, quiet hugs too.
Bathroom
How does the character prepare in the morning?
Natsume likes to take his time. He’s not the type to get nervous because of school or because he’s late. Instead, he takes every day as an opportunity to learn something new, whether about himself or others. Well, that’s what he says when he comes to school two hours late, anyway. He probably just slept in.
Do they sing in the shower?
He doesn’t sing, but he thinks instead. Natsume’s pretty sure there’s something about hot water that makes you think more efficiently. He got some of his best ideas there, too !
What kind of hair product/make-up do they use?
He likes his eyes, he’s often been told they’re pretty unique and have a strange power over people. He’s normally not very curious about make-up, but he’s still looking into an eye make-up that could bring out his eyes for live concerts. He also frequently re-dyes his hair, and even though it’s a hassle to bleach it by himself every other week, he likes how it looks so he’ll keep at it.
Does the character have thousands of shampoo/shower gel bottles by the shower, or do they use only the bare essentials?
Natsume doesn’t see the point of keeping things you don’t need, so he keeps only the bare minimum with him. Besides, it’s money saved for something more useful, like that one game he’s been looking forward to…

Fantasy art influences my fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons games to an extraordinary degree. One of the themes running strongly in the great documentary Eye of the Beholder: The Art of Dungeons & Dragons is how playing D&D gives us an opportunity to discover what would our characters do in these fantastic settings. The fantasy art inspiring our D&D games also provides a tool to help us vividly describe the creatures, places and things adventurers see. For players and Dungeon Masters alike, the fantasy art that speaks to us leaves an indelible mark on our gaming. And for my money, there’s no better place for unending discovery of amazing fantasy art than Pinterest. It’ll improve your D&D games as a player and DM, I guarantee. So let’s get into it.
Tell me your D&D game wouldn’t benefit from Fuzzy Cloud Worms. [Art by AndrewMcIntoshArt on DeviantArt]
Fantasy art for worldbuilding D&D
Concept art for Knight Hood by Janice Chu, a UI/concept artist at Blizzard Entertainment. Click the image to find more amazing art — and then pin it for your D&D games! [Art by Janice Chu]
The world of D&D might use the terrestrial Earth we know as a template, but as weird as the natural world can be here at home it doesn’t hold a candle to a D&D campaign setting. If you’re starting a new campaign, or looking for creative juice to invigorate an existing one, you’re in for a treat. Create a Pinterest board and start pinning.
Here’s an example. One of the D&D settings I enjoy worldbuilding is a frozen world called Rime. I started searching for things like “fantasy art tundra” and the like. When I see an image that I imagine could exist in the setting, or simply have a strong reaction to, onto the board it goes. A picture is worth a thousand words, and very quickly you’ll find many thousands of words worth of D&D adventures waiting to happen.
You’ll want to know — how will the party react when they see the bones of a titan frozen to the mountain side? What will they do when a stag made of starlight crosses their path on the tundra? Will they be in awe when they finally reach the city built on a gargantuan spire of rock overlooking the turbulent sea?
Artists who create fantasy art include the small details that help your broad stroke ideas come alive. A cloaked and hooded figure with a small, heavily armed humanoid might sound ominous or suspicious. A humanoid wearing a cone-shaped headdress topped with a carved face, their face concealed behind a pattern of eyes on the fabric, with a round, etched brass plate on their belt and carrying a staff topped with living branches approaches. With them is a small humanoid creature with thin arms and legs and a huge round head with a single eye, armored and carrying a sword and shield. Which sounds more likely to elicit engagement from the players? Side note — that little sprout fella looks like a perfect reskin target for the alliumite out of the Creature Codex.
And your D&D magic items will for sure come across way more magical and special to the characters when you have a reference to describe their magical cloaks, staves, swords and other magical accoutrement. That goes for you too, players. If you don’t think there’s an image out there perfectly illustrating how you imagine your D&D character, you are wrong. There’s over 70 million Pinterest users, trust me. I’ve found more than one bearded female duergar. There’s art out there for you.
Maps!
Oh, I love a good fantasy art map. Give me a map with a dozen or so rooms and some notable features, and a Monster Manual, and we’re set for at least two sessions. A boundless atlas of maps awaits you on Pinterest. Maps with grids, maps with hexes, isometic maps, hand-drawn maps, hand-painted maps — you name it. Pressed for time (usually due to procrastination) I’ve found a map 15 minutes before a D&D session, came up with one or two ideas to fall back on, and improvised the rest.
When you find a map you like, and take your time to describe what you see vividly including all five senses to the players, they’ll want to know more about their surroundings. They’ll ask questions, investigate and explore. They’ll roll some dice and before you know it, the session is wrapping up and the players can’t wait to come back next week and find out more.
The real treasure map is the only you want the characters to be as excited to explore as you are to guide their way. A monster here and a trap there when it feels appropriate provides tension for the adventurers, and more than likely the players will concoct their own ideas about what’s going on in this dungeon. Listen up, because this info, along with the extra time you give yourself to think while describing things the characters explore, can go a long way toward constructing a narrative from your 15 minutes of prep time. Let those players do some of the work!
To this day one of the most memorable — and impactful to the party — adventures took place in a map I found called The Trickle. It’s a very vertical, isometic map of a cavern system built into the stone behind a massive waterfall. I imagined this cliff face was many thousands of feet above the ocean below, so the waterfall surges off the edge and cascades down. There are little balconies here and there along the outside leading into different levels within the cavern system. The party adventured in there for days! Meaning several sessions of D&D!
The Pinterest DM Experiment
I was talking with a player in my group the other night and said I wanted to try running a D&D session using nothing but Pinterest. So, the next day when we got together to continue the adventures of the Adventurers of Adventure, I did just that.
Three of the images I pulled are down below. There is a fourth, but it’s a map and the party hasn’t gotten to that part at the time of this writing. And the players read this stuff. Sorry, Adventurers of Adventure — no spoilers for you.
There’s no real powerful reason I chose these particular pieces of fantasy art other than they captured my interst (my Pinterest?) at the time. Paired with the map, I had the skeleton of a story for the party to explore. During the session, the cloaked figures became reskinned harpies. I changed their claw damage type to necrotic and otherwise they’re straight out of the Monster Manual. The players were curious, and very wary of these creatures that seemed to be billowing cloaks being blown in a strong wind.
The owl-themed figure is a reskinned siren, and the map is the siren’s lair. Along with the “harpies” there’s a strong avian theme, and a fey quality of whimsy. The siren’s lair really ties this theme together.
Lastly, there’s a weird black potion with what looks like a blue dragon eye floating inside. But the black liquid can take the form of a sword blade, with the vial as the handle! Things like this can be as simple as a +1 longsword functionally, but visually quite different. Or if could have no bonus to hit or damage but do necrotic damage instead of slashing. It could be like a Rod of Lordly Might and form sword, axes and all sorts of things.
There is a neverending trove of creatures, characters, magic items, magic spells, amazing vista and locations and anything you can dream of when you explore the fantasy art through Pinterest. Just yesterday, a player showed me the map he’d be drawing of the unexplored region they adventure in, and it looked exactly like the map from Pinterest I use as a reference. He made the comment I describe things really well, and maybe that’s true…but it helps when I’m looking at the unbelievable fantasy art and just telling them what I see.
If you’d like to check out one of the Pinterest boards I use to find inspiring fantasy art for my D&D games, check it out here.

Potlatch 28 Awards: The Legend of Hriar
As I sat down to make up the official Potlatch awards, I found that there was more to say than which teams won some made-up awards (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Don’t worry, there are still plenty of juicy award absurdities below.
But, first and foremost, I want to apologize. This was not my best Potlatch. I didn’t deliver to a standard that I believe Potlatch and you all deserve. There were plenty of times that I was at peak Potlatch form, but overall, my heart was not in it the same way. I felt it showed. There were several factors which led to this:
In February, I broke my leg. I got three screws put into in my ankle, meaning I would not get to play the sport I love with the community I love for some time. When I first helped run Potlatch in 2014, I was injured, and still had the time of my life. This time was different, and it hit a lot harder. I found myself sad throughout the preparation, doubting my self-worth, and questioning my reasons for giving. While there is no other place I would be on Potlatch weekend, being injured made me question that because I wouldn’t get to fully participate.
Emotional turmoil over the impending changes to Potlatch. Potlatch is a project that I’ve put a lot of time into over the years. With any project that you love, change is a hard pill to swallow, especially if that change comes to head to head with aspects that you’ve personally put time into. The TDs have been discussing certain changes for a while now (like changing the name of Potlatch to be more culturally sensitive), and trying to come up with potential solutions. As much as I didn’t want to change things initially, it is absolutely the right thing to do. For those who don’t know, Potlatch is a Native American term for a gift giving celebration. While the spirit of what we do is there, the original meaning of this tournament and how it relates to the Native term has been lost over the last 28 years. This is something DiscNW and the TDs have taken very seriously, and that is why we brought it up in the bid submission process and at the captains meeting. Nothing official has been determined, and the conversations are still ongoing. but we all should prepare for a world where this tournament will have a different name.
It was incredibly tough to work through these (and other) issues all at the same time, and still try to ensure everyone else’s Potlatch was fantastic. Importantly, whenever I was down, the ultimate community was there for me. I was constantly showered in love and affection from members of the ultimate community with simple acts like giving hugs to grander gestures like gifts of hats, jerseys, and even a lucky egg. You all helped lift me back up when I was down. For this, I am grateful. You are all the reason I volunteer for this, you all inspire me to be make this tournament even better. Ultimate community, I love you.
The Legend of Hrair
Lastly, I learned an important lesson this Potlatch from an experience I call the Legend of Hrair “Her-Eye.” I came across an interesting fellow on Night Zero of Potlatch who stood out among all the random ultimate players. There he was, a short, out of shape, hobbit looking guy, with long curly hair, glasses and a Newsies cap. He almost floated around the party. I was fascinated as he walked over in the middle of a rage cage game, and started stacking cups. I knew I had to meet this human, and find out how he discovered Potlatch. I walked over to him and asked him how his night was going. He immediately went into a long rant about how he was having an identity crisis between being a normal person and an artist. Just as I thought, this guy was as odd as I had assumed, didn’t know anyone at the event, and wasn’t signed up to participate at Potlatch. But, seeing as he was harmlessly participating in the celebration, I was curious to see what role he would play.
The next night, as I stumbled to my last campsite gathering to play rage cage before I went to bed, there was the half-man, half-artist hobbit in all his glory. I knew all the other members at the game table, and we all had the same look on our face. “Who the hell is this guy? And what the hell is he doing here?”
I positioned myself next to Hrair, and asked him how his artistry crisis was going. He gave me a similar rant as the evening before, and proceeded to ask the table if we wanted to have a real talk. He asked if we wanted to know the twelve reasons he was upset his wife was leaving him. Things had just gotten very real, but the campsite host decided to step in and escort Hrair away.
Hrair clearly had several issues he was working out. He had somehow made his way to Potlatch, and chose it as an appropriate location to work through those issues. I heard he made an appearance at the same campsite the next night, and was asked again to leave, this time with a little more force and anger. I understand why that happened. There was a big unknown factor here on what this stranger was capable of if he snapped. But if anything, accepting all people is what makes the ultimate community so special, and Hrair should not have been an exception.
On day three of Potlatch, during one of my golf cart drives, I found Hrair posted up in the northwest corner by some tents, with an easel, a canvas and a sign next him with “Weird Freaky Art” written on it. I asked him what he was doing. He explained to me how he had been working on this painting all weekend.
I took a closer look at the canvas. On it was an incredible oil landscape painting that perfectly captured the scene of Potlatch. The fields, teams playing, children playing, spirit games, tents, honey buckets, the trees, the houses on the hills, even the shadows from the trees behind him. This was a magnificent piece of art that perfectly conveys what Potlatch is, and it was through the perspective of a stranger.
My mind was blown. I finally asked Hrair how he had discovered Potlatch. He explained how after volunteering in the neighborhood, he had pulled over in this parking lot to pray and reflect on his life. That is when all these people started showing up, and they kept on coming. Rather than run away, he embraced this unknown group, to see what he could learn about himself. I marveled at this tale, and then went on to share what Potlatch is and what it means to the ultimate community. How we all come from all over the world to Redmond, WA to share memories, good times, and gifts with our friends. I told him a little about my story and role as one of the tournament organizers, and how much seeing his art meant to me. Hrair then turned to me and exclaimed, “I want you to have my painting.”
I was dumbfounded yet again. I told him I couldn’t possibly take this, but he insisted, stating, “You all accepted me as one of your own this weekend.” He went on to share how by expressing himself this way, it was helping him work through his troubles, and gave him more of a meaning. “If this is an event about gift giving, then this is my gift to you.” With tears in my eyes, I hugged Hrair. This is the greatest gift I have ever received at Potlatch, and it came from someone who I originally thought shouldn’t be there.
I learned a very valuable lesson from Hrair. We all have struggles to work out in life, like overcoming an injury, losing loved ones, or confronting a big change. Potlatch is all about embracing your community, being inspired to create something spectacular, and showing your love through giving a gift. Whatever the future holds for this tournament, I hope that those ideals and values are preserved.
Thank you’s!
And now a moment for the true heroes of Potlatch, the tournament directors. Rusty, it was a pleasure to watch you step up in many ways this year, especially as a leader. These may have been the best match ups and brackets I have ever seen. I especially enjoyed how you could attend the party for the first time in 8 years.
Kate, you are the queen of communication. You rose to the occasion time and time again, and helped make some incredibly positive changes. Plus, you were a great Loreli from Gilmore Girls!
Mel, this was my first chance getting to work with you, and I was impressed. I enjoyed your sense of humor that you seamlessly tied into your community interactions. I believe you will do great things as the new Executive Director of DiscNW.
Kong, you are the string that holds Potlatch together. Thank you very much for all you have done during these past 11 years. I hope we are all lucky to have you stick around for 11 more.
Finally, Kat, when I was down, you inspired me to do something special. Thank you for helping drive our social media campaign, and making my dreams a reality. It was your work that kept me involved during all the times I wanted to walk away. Thank you all for helping me remember what it I bring to Potlatch.
