Actually yeah now that I’ve got Yujikiri on the brain. I feel that Eugeo would rarely ever call Kirito Kazuto bc 1. Eugeo met him and grew up with him and knew him as Kirito so it’s just engrained into him at this point and 2. Because Kiri’s fine being referred to as Kirito, it’s actually more strange to hear someone call him Kazuto. BUT. The rare times Eugeo DOES whip out the real name. Kirito gets reeeeal flustered lol

I finished the first SAO novel, Kirito and Asuna definitely have more personality than they do in the anime. Like. A lot more.

However, uh, the villain actually has a motivation in the novels??? In the anime when he’s asked why he made SAO he replies “I forgot.”

But in the novel he says that even he sometimes forgets and then it’s made clear that he made the death game because he wanted to make his paracosm truly real.

Like. That’s so much better than “I forgot lmao”

fan of SAO here: the anime SUCKS you are so right. I watched it when I was 12 and even then I was like erm. But then I decided to read the light novels and got even MORE mad,,, like, you’re trying to tell me that the novels are somewhat good and the anime just *trips and falls*

I’ve never read the novels or manga or anything, so I cant speak on whether that’s decent or not. It’s a tragic case of “this is a cool concept but a horrible execution” imo

like I really thought the concept was intriguing and it could’ve genuinely been a super good series but they legit fumbled so hard like it’s not even funny 😭 they can’t go one second without making it weird as hell. It’s been like 12 years since I saw the anime but I need answers over the weird cousin/sister shit and also the freaky ass ai baby that kirito and asuna adopt or whatever cuz wtf 😭 and that’s not even getting into s2 w the weird ass fairy game like what the fuck was that I’m serious … this series seemed like it didn’t know what genre or what fanbase it wanted to appeal to. it kept jumping back and forth trying to be so many things at once and it just didn’t work at all

no cuz like it actually makes me mad why did they have to make it dumb af and creepy and weird cuz I actually love the character designs for asuna and kirito and the idea of getting trapped in a virtual reality game and being unable to escape is cool but they just hadddddd to make it fuckin weird for what

like imagine how great the series could’ve been if they hadn’t rushed the game plot line and the whole series had been about that instead of whatever the hell we got cuz like… they coulda done like each season broken into diff levels like each episode is a level and the very end of the series could’ve been escaping the game but instead they had kirito get out of the game halfway through s1???? Wtf lmao talk about rushing a storyline. also the villains were all so mid and not even in a tolerable way. like the literal game maker was like “idk why I trapped them in the game lol. I just felt like it” like ???? what 😂

this series might be one of the biggest fumbles in anime I think 💀💀💀
