Careful to not get bald if you do it that much 😂 I stopped doing it a few weeks ago bye bye red dye I started to lose a bit too much hair 😭😭
Unfortunately, my hair can take a beating, which means that I never learn that my lesson. I’ve had every color under the sun and bombed it with bleach. Mind you, it has looked completely fucked and fried, but somehow never fallen off.
But yes, definitely be careful. You’re playing with a lot of chemicals when dyeing and bleaching. It completely messed up my scalp once because I mixed something wrong.
#personal#unrelated:#I’ve also been bald willingly twice#it’s an experience! I warmly recommend it. you learn to appreciate your own features in a whole other way

January Sessions
Hello everyone!
At the start of this year I decided to write a monthly feature piece on any thoughts or ideas I'm reflecting on at that time. In an effort to be transparent and open about the deepest and most abstract corners of my mind, I will be posting at the end of each month for the entire year in 2017. Comments and questions are warmly welcomed!
Please read and enjoy my first piece below!
January 2017: Attracting the things you want in life.
I recently started reading a book by John C. Maxwell on living life with intention. I have read and enjoyed many of his books on leadership development and personal growth and would recommend picking up at least one of his books to anyone. One paragraph in particular stood out to me one morning while I was at a coffee shop before work. It asked three simple questions:
What do you cry about?
What do you sing about?
What do you dream about?
I stopped for a moment to reflect on my life and think if I truly knew the answers while I tried to connect all of my experiences to uncover a response for myself. I quickly realized I wasn’t going to find a straight forward answer. As I began to consider my past in comparison to my current reality, I slowly started to understand. Taken together, these questions touch on the grander concept of the kind of life each of us want to live. Of course this can be answered in about a hundred million ways and every person will have to figure out how they relate to their own life and what they ultimately mean to them. So how do we attract the things we want in order to live the life we’ve imagined for ourselves?
Let me continue by asking a few more questions...What are all of the things you are doing on a daily basis that you are conscious and aware of? What are the little steps you take each day to be productive (not necessarily “busy”) to become a better you?
If you are having trouble answering these questions I wouldn’t be surprised. Most of us go through our lives on autopilot, bouncing from one thing to the next without a conscious thought. Our lives have seemingly shifted to a never-ending cycle of busyness without productivity and we struggle to nourish our minds and souls with what really matters in life. I believe that if we were all fully aware of each experience we go through and the lessons they teach us, we could begin to see all of these things as necessary to bring us to where we are supposed to be. We could then start to focus less on outcomes or results and more on appreciating life for what it is, exactly where you are right now.
The following ten statements consist of some of the key elements I have personally learned through my life that have helped me understand the laws of attracting what you want in life. I am continually learning and gaining knowledge in different ways and hope that I can expand this list as time goes on. For now, I still work each day to put these ideas into practice. While I can definitely admit I don’t always accomplish this goal, the point is to exude an effort to do so. Over time, applying these pearls of knowledge begin to transform into those small steps you take each day to enhance your personal life or find the path that will lead you to success (however you may define that for yourself). As you become more aware of your own realities and dreams, you may even find yourself coming up with your own ways and ideas to achieve these things for yourself. And I hope that you do.
Here is what I’ve learned so far:
Thoughts manifest into things as reality. Change your thoughts and you can change your reality.
Be true to your word. Put out into the universe what you want and it will work for you, not against you.
Truly believe you deserve all the things you want, because you do.
Visualize, feel and act like you already have what you want.
Happiness is a choice.
Your attitude can make all the difference.
It’s not about what happens to you in life it’s how you react to it.
Let go of fear (to be vulnerable, to change, to fail).
Be grateful for all of the things you currently have.
Be patient and trust that things and people come to you at the right time.
Please leave a comment or start a discussion from this post, I would love to here from you!
Cheers!
**A side note that relates to this month’s topic; reading books in general should be something to begin pursuing if you don’t already include this habit in your daily routine. Any time I pick up a new book I tell myself to be open to the knowledge it uniquely has to offer. There will be many things you will read that you may disagree with and that’s okay. As long as you can allow yourself to connect and reflect on the things you do agree with, while still being open to the potential that your perspective may very well change; you don’t know what you don’t know and you may find yourself beginning to question everything you previously knew or were taught. Doesn’t seem that pleasant, does it? Why would anyone want to read something that makes them uncomfortable or unsure? The easy thing to do would be to stay in the bubble you’ve created with what you know because it’s comfortable and safe. However, in order to grow as a person and evolve to become better, we have to be willingly to step out of those comfort zones and into a world of uncertainty. For me, reading is one of the things that helps achieve this goal of personal development and attracting the things I want in my life by helping me to realize who I am and what I believe to be the truth.

Why Men Like our New York Asian Escort Women So Much?
The attractiveness of NYC Asian escort women is undeniable. Long hair and silky smooth, slim body and petite, the way they walk elegantly (Asian women tend to move gracefully and feminine, in contrast to most western women who are rigid, or tend to be masculine).
Not surprisingly, many men are fascinated by their exotic and sensual appearance. And, there is one more factor that makes Asian women more likable is they have a sense of innocence that makes men more curious.
This innocence that makes men think behind their shy and polite nature is something that must be revealed. Here are some reasons why men find Asian women more attractive. For the record, not all Asian women have these characteristics, but if you find it, I make sure you will not be disappointed.
Strong appeal
Smooth hair, smooth skin, small body are a combination that makes any man very interested. Besides, anatomically the construction of Asian women's faces seems to lack expression and emotion, making them more difficult to guess. They also have skin that is more youthful than Caucasian women who wrinkle faster when they begin to age.
Respect relationships
In general, Asian women are very appreciative of a relationship. Choose the right partner then she will be loyal and avoid things that can damage her relationship. This will make you as a man do his best for her.
Easier to approach
Asian women tend to be more approachable. Try getting acquainted with giving a warm smile or if you can speak the local language she will greet you warmly. You will quickly get a response from her.
More rational
For most Asian women, having a partner of different races is not a big problem. In contrast to Westerners who are less tolerant of racial differences, especially in marital relationships.
Hard worker
Asian women begin to help families from an early age. They tend to get up earlier and help with household chores. Asians believe that working hard can provide a better future for their families.
Rich in cultural heritage
Many people from various parts of the world are captivated by exotic and mysterious Asian cultures. However, today Asians have become trendier. For example, Japan is famous for its Mecca fashion. Many outsiders also tattooed their bodies with Korean or Japanese writing or symbols.
These people think they can be more hipster or spiritual, even though they have never visited Asia. Most people think that by dating Asian women they will have the opportunity to learn about their culture, traditions, music, dishes, art, and history.
We always value your privacy. Asian Amour Outcall will never disclose any information regarding you or our New York Escort girls. This is to assure you that all services requested by you are strictly confidential and will always remain as such.
Additionally, our New York Japanese Escorts are very discreet in every aspect. They will never ask you any personal questions that may make you uncomfortable. Our duty is to address your specific desires and to ensure 100% happiness with our services.
What’s so special about our New York Asian escorts?
Well, first and foremost, the girls in our New York Asian Escort agency are incredibly hot. They have physical characteristics that, once hired, you cannot wait to see all of. Many work as models and entertainers in a variety of venues.
A. Our New York Asian Escorts have stunning looks
A combination of spectacular bodies and beautiful faces. You’d be hard-pressed to find the same quality of combination anywhere else. However, these attributes are common to many Escort agencies in New York and, indeed, around the world. This is why we boast of more than just our girls’ physical beauty. We offer a special feature that many others don’t.
If you are looking for more than just looks, the ladies with our agency will be more than happy to offer you an all-around service.
B. They have a special gift for conversation that will surprise and impress you
Dating is often difficult if you’re with a girl who lacks this art. When the conversation becomes dry, a very awkward situation presents itself between both parties. Any intended fun and entertainment can quickly turn to quite the opposite. Men interpret this as various negative things. It could be a show of a woman’s disinterest in what you are saying or she may be in her own world of thoughts.
The clients who are only interested in beauty and a great meeting experience would not mind. However, it may make a big difference to some. This is what makes our girls very special. They are meant to satisfy every need. If it is a conversation you want, then, a stunning conversation you will get. They will show great interest and delight in your conversation topics. Also, acting not only as an Escort, but as a therapist if needed.
C. They will give you a therapeutic and erotic experience for the price of one
To many, it comes as a surprise that all our girls possess this amazing quality despite their different backgrounds. However, this comes from the fact that a good number of the girls at our agency work as Escorts for the thrill and excitement and not particularly for the money.
Some of the women in our agency are doctors, nurses, teachers and students. They bring varied experiences, backgrounds and knowledge to the table that will create unique conversational experiences.

Wizard World: Wonder-Filled Weekend In Philly
Wizard World Philadelphia 2017 is in the books. My mission this year at the Pennsylvania Convention Center was to tap into all elements the event had to offer. From comic books to celebrities and cosplay to creators, there was a little bit of something for all fans. This was Wizard World Philly through my eyes…
Welcome To Wizard World
The first thing I noticed upon entering the building was an increase in safety measures. Off to the side was a cosplay weapons check prior to moving forward through metal detectors. I am quite accustomed to metal detectors at rock concerts, sporting events, and of course airports but, this is the very first time I had seen it a comic con. The security upgrade did not seem to add much more time to the ordinary line wait. Given events as of late, I am sure that fans will appreciate steps being taken to improve the safety for all involved. My hope is that all comic conventions can quickly implement a system of efficacy. Once inside though, let the fun begin! There was no better way to describe stepping onto the convention floor than when I overheard a little girl turn to her brother and exclaim “THIS is Comic Con!”
Celebrities
One thing most fans appreciate about Wizard World is their variety of celebrity guests and Philly was no different. Ralph Macchio (The Outsiders, Karate Kid), C. Thomas Howell (The Outsiders), John Cusak (Say Anything), Lou Ferrigno (Hulk), and Barry Bostwick (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) were a few of the guests providing a blast from the past. Just a few steps away from them was the ever charismatic fan favorite Michael Rooker along with buddy Sean Gunn representing current Marvel blockbuster movie, Guardians of the Galaxy. Fans were also happily lined up to get some face time with stars Jesse Eisenberg (Social Network, Batman v Superman), Billie Piper (Doctor Who), and Paul Wesley (Vampire Diaries).
For those more action oriented, martial arts expert Chuck Norris as well as some WWE® Superstars were on hand for meet and greet. One of the biggest draws this year though came from the world of musical entertainment with rock legend Gene Simmons. Mr. Simmons greeted fans warmly as he signed albums, posters, action figures and so much more. Not only did the Kiss front man make an appearance at the convention center, he also performed on stage at the Trocadero Theater. Many more guests were available over the weekend; it was nice to see them set up in such a way so that fans could catch a glimpse of all their favorites.
Artists and Creators
I was pleasantly surprised by the high-caliber of creative talent available at Wizard World Philly. Painters, writers, sketch artists and more all serving up amazing renditions of our favorite characters as well as drawing us into realms all their own. I am blessed to know and meet so many amazing individuals that bring imagination to life. There is nothing sweeter than observing that talent in action and I implore all fans to take the time and visit these hard-working individuals. The best way to memorialize your con experience? Pick up some artwork and have it autographed by your favorite celebrity!
Events, Entertainment, Exhibits
There was much to be seen on the Wizard World convention floor. Strike a pose next to an exact replica of the infamous Impala ‘Baby’ from the CW hit show Supernatural, have a seat on the Iron Throne, grab a selfie with an Avenger, get green-screened into the Stephen King Dark Tower universe, or visit a makeup artist to transform yourself into a zombie. Got kids? Take a trip to the Kid’s Zone to burn off some pint-sized energy. Got game? Have a seat in the Gamers Lounge and get ready to battle!
Panels. I was hoping to get to more. Being that most are on another level with an inability to get back in without going through security again made the process a bit challenging when faced with time constraints. That being said, there were definitely plenty from which to choose! Celebrity Q&As, speed dating and cosplay were just a few of the featured topics. I had the pleasure to sit in on one called Words Into Pictures: How To Write Comics with Wonder Woman’s Amy Chu, Spider-man Noir’s Fabrice Sapolsky, The Red Hook’s Dean Haspiel & Darkhawk’s Danny Fingeroth. I feel it is important to learn about the process behind creating comics; it helps in developing a solid appreciation and understanding for the work that goes into the characters and worlds we cherish. Whatever your curiosity though, grab a seat and listen in!
In my effort to keep up with latest in actually sharing all things geek chic, I have been taking note of comic con podcasts. Sure enough, I met a great group of guys from Fireside Podcasting. It was cool to grab an inside peek during one of their pods featuring two incredibly skilled artists on site, CJ Draden and JaCo Tartaruga. It is absolutely fascinating to hear what lies inside the mind of any creator; what drives them, what inspires them or even what hinders their talent. I encourage fans to check out Fireside pods so that they too can find a place “where comics and class collide!”
Cosplay and Collectibles
Ok, ok…no big surprise here. The talk of the convention was DC’s mega blockbuster release of Wonder Woman. One look around the convention floor and you saw the love being shown for her with some incredibly crafted cosplay. While Wonder Woman was indeed a prominent feature throughout the weekend, there were many fandoms represented in outstanding fashion. As with most comic conventions, the cosplayers continually provide an atmosphere of fun and imagination. Logan, Yondu, Iron Man, Gandalf, Harley Quinn, Deadpool… You just never know who you will run into. Have your camera ready!
Of course no comic convention would not be complete without collectibles. Discerning collectors were seen throughout the floor in search of that special treasure needed to enhance their ever expanding collections. Comic books, figurines, retro toys, t-shirts and jewelry were available to all those looking to give them a new home. My advice? Bring your wallet and a very large bag!
Organization
The fans I spoke with seemed quite happy with their experience at Wizard World Philly. The volunteers and staff were polite and friendly. The one area of improvement recommended by everyone I spoke with was to have better signage. Perhaps aisle numbers from the ceiling or even volunteers stationed throughout the floor to give direction would be helpful. The biggest challenge in attending this event was locating panels, artists, and vendors. There were no maps handed to me upon entry and when one was finally located the print was very tiny and hard to read. With so much to see and do, a fan wants to find it all! The upside? You were able to take in things you may have normally missed while on your search.
See You Next Year
I would like to thank Wizard World Philadelphia for inviting me to take part in their exciting weekend. I look forward to many more adventures with them in the future! Be sure to visit the Wizard World website to find a show near you. Follow them on social media for all the latest news and updates Facebook: @wizardworld Twitter: @WizardWorld Instagram: @wizardworld

“Good books are a priceless possession, they reveal the minds of creative men and enrich life with fine experience.”
The above is writing seen on the walls of the Suzallo-Allen Libraries at the University of Washington Campus in Seattle, a favorite place I’ve visited a few times over the years.
Monumental endeavors…
It never ceases to amaze me what we don’t know about the world that we live in, and perhaps what is even more incredible to me are the very real, huge efforts of mankind in attempting to unravel and document so many aspects of life on our amazing little ball of earth and water. I’ve been lucky, or maybe curious enough to try and surround myself with voracious and inquiring minds. Many of those people I’ve somehow managed to befriend via the internet in some fashion.
I have vivid memories of sending e-mails out to scientists of all kinds as soon as I had access to the internet and every so often I was delighted to find the occasional response sitting in my typically dormant inbox. Science, for me, was a moment spent in taking a closer look at my surroundings or a book in my backpack. Understanding the world at large was always on my horizon. I’m pleased to say my habits have not wilted as I’ve grown older…quite the opposite, in fact!
Many people don’t see the potential in Facebook beyond it being something of a distraction, mere entertainment, and the way it tends to drag one into zombifying hours of useless clicking… ultimately to the benefit of advertisers. I’ve done my best to counter that habit, to put Facebook to use for personal research projects, for educating the greater public about the topics and subjects I am extremely passionate about, and to seek out opportunities to collaborate with other people trying to do positive things in all aspects of nature, conservation, and art.
One of these remarkable people is Ted R. Kahn, a man who has devoted decades of his life to studying amphibians, particularly poison frogs. He’s the Executive Director of the Neotropical Conservation Foundation, (NCF – Facebook Page) which he founded in 2005. He is also one of the editors and the illustrator of the recently published book I’m reviewing here, which I’d ordered a few days ago and have since had time to look over with James, with whom I was eager to share the book. We are both excited about it! Nature is full of little mysteries and this wonderful addition to human knowledge, Aposematic Poison Frogs (Dendrobatidae) of the Andean Countries (covering Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela) is a guide that will most certainly reveal many remarkable things about one of its many creations.
I should mention that my personal experience with poison frogs is quite limited – I can count on my fingers the times I’ve encountered them in the wild. I’ve no idea how many captive species I’ve seen in zoos or at the few reptile expositions I’ve attended; so I have only ever known as much as what I’ve absorbed in bits and pieces through the imagery and articles of scientific or fellow nature photographer friends, or read about on a whim now and then. In Panama, I’ve seen maybe two very different types of poison frog and only one in Ecuador!
All for sale.
Above: A number of captive poison frogs I’d seen for sale at a reptile expo in Seattle several years ago. I don’t know if they were all captive bred or wild caught or a mix.
Above: A wild, teal morph Dendrobates auratus. Guide Macedonio and I found her while hiking in Panama in 2014. I’d seen another poison frog up in the local national park, but accidentally deleted the photos I had taken as I hiked! :'(
The only poison frog I’ve seen in Ecuador, Epipedobates darwinwallacei (Mindo Poison Frog) photographed in Mindo in 2014. I’d had no idea they were there until they were shown to us, even though we often hear them nearby.
For whatever reason (perhaps lack of encounters), I hadn’t yet thought to buy a book all about poison frogs, but once I learned Ted was working on the illustrations for one (he would frequently share some on Facebook, which was very inspiring to me!) I kept an eye out for the day it was to be published.
The book is delightful, almost unexpectedly comprehensive, and very nicely put together by a great group of people who knew what they would expect from a good field guide and seem to have used those experiences to create something exceptional. It’s much more than a guide – in parts it feels and looks very much like a miniature textbook, with extra little photos and diagrams about various aspects of the art or history surrounding poison frogs.
Lovely landscapes and illustrations.
The book starts off with systematics, then details conservation efforts and the problems these frogs face in relation to man, reproduction, and then the bioactive alkaloids. Proceeding, we get details on the different genera and species that make up this large family. In the back we have a glossary, related websites that may prove useful, the bibliography, index and some blank lined pages for your own field notes. The inside of the back cover even has a ruler along the edge and instructions on placing frogs on it (in a plastic bag, to prevent the spread of disease) for measuring them.
One of the things I most enjoy about this book, besides Ted’s brilliantly lifelike illustrations, is the ample number of habitat photos for many of the species accounts. If you find yourself at home and unable to travel for some time, this book has a remarkable way of transporting you right into the frogs’ world. The landscape photos serve as windows into that world. I think this feeling is probably strengthened by any real-life experience one has in similar habitats, but it should prove very inspiring and informative to anyone who wants to see them in person in the future.
Chapter 4 is an in-depth explanation of the bioactive alkaloids in Dendrobatid frogs, written by Dr. John William Daly, who I was sad to learn had passed away in 2008, and to whom the book is very warmly dedicated. I was lamenting the fact that I have no formal education on chemistry about a week ago and how because of that I was doomed to miss out on the more interesting details of these frogs’ evolution and survival methods, so it was great to find out that this book covers that in a lot of detail, including the medicinal uses of the alkaloids in modern times and traditionally by indigenous peoples. I’ll have to do some studying to really get the most out of it, but I’m very grateful to have a solid write-up to guide me along that path.
Interesting stuff on alkaloids!
The little chemical honey-comb looking things are still hieroglyphs to me, but that will hopefully change soon!
The setup for pages on each genus is pleasing to the eye and very thoughtfully compiled. We get details on the taxonomy and silhouettes of the species size range within the genus, with measurements. An extra little detail I enjoy seeing throughout the whole book is the color coded bottom corners and the strip at the top of the page, which makes navigating the book in a pinch much easier. The artist in me is also a big fan of the little frog icon tucked into the corner, it’s different for each corresponding genus instead of being one generic poison frog symbol. It’s little touches like that which tickle my fancy for books!
The species accounts are very detailed. Throughout the entire book, the writing is appropriately rich and precise while still being totally accessible to someone who is maybe just learning about these frogs. For anything that may leave someone unfamiliar with the terminology scratching their head, the glossary is there to assist. Several paragraphs are often given to the different aspects of each frog. Of course, some accounts are more detailed than others; many of the frogs are fairly newly described but there is really a wealth of information for a huge majority of them.
Again it must be mentioned how beautifully rendered Ted’s frogs are. A tiny number of the actual photos of the frogs with a lot of black in them are a bit underexposed, little details are hard to make out (probably more so in the printing process than maybe can be seen on a computer screen or phone) which is really my only little complaint about the book, so the drawings really stand out. These drawings are all very consistent and are presented on a white background, which makes comparing species much easier. Color morphs of a particular species are often included as well – and not merely as duplicate versions, but as unique drawings.
Tidy, helpful colored maps.
The pages also feature large color-coded maps showing the range of the species. Many field guides or books on animals can be pretty skimpy on the maps, usually leaving them black and white. I really appreciate the choice of the physical map. That extra bit of context is what makes one’s understanding of the natural history of a species that much more interesting. The setup of the page leaves you wanting for nothing, at least as far as anything I can personally imagine needing.
Overall, the book is about 580 pages of poison froggy goodness! I’m convinced this is a real treasure that should definitely find its way onto your bookshelf, or into your bag when you’re traveling to the Andean countries these frogs inhabit. I can enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who is interested in poison frogs and for any natural history book/field guide collector.
Truthfully, I will have to order a second copy! One for the often wet and dirty field life and one that can sit pretty on the shelf for me to look at while cozy at home in civilization.
You can order a copy from Ted through PayPal. Contact him at tedr.kahn(at)gmail.com. Signed copies are $65.00 which includes shipping in the USA. Buyers from other countries will pay for international shipping.
I’ve also received a copy of the Libro Rojo de los Anfibios de Colombia, a Spanish language book which you can also order from Ted. I’ll write up a review on that book and others I’ve recently purchased elsewhere in the next few days and weeks.
