Linked Universe Headcanons: What I think each of their roles would be in a boy band
I'm surprised how popular my prev one was! I was chatting to a non fan friend and she was curious what they would be like in a band, and asked me who the rapper would be...I reckon WILD hahah
Anyways...
Time: Not an active member but used to be a solo artist back in the day, he doesn't like being in the limelight as much and mentors/manages the rest of them. Still has that suave quality, a total heart throb and occasionally hosts a one off concert only available to the VIPS. He was the IT boy back in the day.
Warriors: Leader of the band and all rounder. He's a complete heartbreaker, can sing, and dance every style and fans go crazy over him. Very charismatic and flirty, knows how to make a fan feel special at a meet and greet and always takes a photo with them.
Twilight: I think lead guitarist, can sing beautifully and has one of the most charming voices, also very yeehaw and country when he goes on solo tour dates or drops his album. He's dripping with quiet confidence and doesn't share too much about his private life to fans, likes to keep a boundary between his private and professional life but will always be kind of them and never deny a photo or autograph
Sky: Has a beautiful voice, more shy and s o f t, he's one of the more quieter members and doesn't like being on camera as much but doesn't hate it either. Has that sweet prince charming vibe that everyone loves, would probably be a part time model on top of his band duties. Can play the guitar and bass
Wild: Absolute hardcore. He's def the main rapper and won't pass up the chance to drop any bars. He'll def go on rap battle tv shows and break EVERYONE. Mans got flow and swag, especially after getting a full arm of tattoos. What's the backstory behind them? He'll change it everytime he's on an interview. Absolute coolest dude on earth, fans LOVE him and how chill he is but you don't want to get on this guy's bad side or you'll be on his diss track list. Even the others are slightly scared of him. Always on social media posting selfies and updates, or threatening other artists that come for him or his band. Likes to film the other members to until Time tells him to cut it out and touch grass
Legend: I can see him having a lot of range in his voice, very powerful and can sing ballads. One of the lead singers and occasionally helps with writing songs. He CAN dance if he puts his heart and soul into it. He loves writing poetry and secretly writes love songs for himself based on a special girl, but he'll tear them up before anyone sees them. Would Probably records an incredible, heartfelt song he wrote and composed himself on his instagram then delete it after 5 hours beccause he'll be like, why the hell did I just do that? Fans would cry, wishing he would post more gems like that. Hates to be in the front but also fairly confident in his skills. Fans adore him because you can just see he's actually a big softie on the inside despite that tough exterior he puts up. Secretly jealous of Wild's rap ability, can't rap to save his life but maybe, one day.
Hyrule:
One of the lead singers, has the most melodic voice and can absolutely stun a crowd with his angelic vocals. Like Legend, also is one of the members with the most range. You know when you see someone in person and their just glowing? Yea, that's him. Sweetest celeb ever, everyone that's worked with him only has good things to say about this guy. Definitely has the most potential to go solo as well with his incredible piano skills. Can also play almost every other instrument, an absolute talent in everything. He also sponsors charities every now and then and interacts with fans on social media. Can do contemporary dance
Wind/Four: Tbh I think they would be good in broad way, both are great singers and still very much fanboys to the others. Their working their way, still in training. Can definitely see Wind going big on broadway and theatre and specialising in tap dance
Can you guess who is my bias? Or who's your bias? hehe

soljae | final timeline, angst, comfort, canon divergence | prompt: transformation
⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪
Ryu Sunjae was pretty sure he lost his mind.
He confessed his feelings to the scriptwriter of a movie he refused to participate in, he felt irrational amounts of anger towards a police officer, got nauseous each time a taxi drove by in narrow streets, and—most importantly—he felt like he stepped out of his own body multiple times a day.
It was akin his soul drifting above his body, watching his walk and talk, but feeling totally removed from it all. Instead, his soul yearned for something different. Something beyond his reach—beyond the scope of this universe.
Which was insane. Hence the losing of his mind.
It had to be exhaustion, Sunjae reasoned. He walked the streets of the bustling financial district, hands stuffed in his long, black coat. He hoped that walking here would ease his mind. Among the skyscrapers that loomed impossibly high, a person came to rational thought.
Sunjae sighed as a headache grew right behind his eyes. He pinched his nose. That also happened now: headaches, bordering on migraines, which he never suffered from in the past.
It all started because of that damned script landing in his lap. It was cursed.
His hand moved up to rake through his hair. Focus, he told hlmself. Focus on what he knew was real for sure. He knew he was thirty-two, a B-list actor, that his dad owned a restaurant. His mother passed away when he was ten. He swam competitively as a teenager. He has lived in Seoul his whole life.
The facts repeated themselves in his brain, again and again. But when he tried to dig deeper, he was stumped. Like slamming into a glass door, seeing that there was something, but the door was lcoked.
And then there was that damned song replaying in his head like a jingle. A ballad, to be specific, with lyrics he never heard of and a voice he recognised as his own. But Sunjae didn't sing; he hadn't picked up a microphone since his last year of high school.
Another wave of pain spiked behind his eyes and Sunjae groaned. His stride faltered and he lost balance. His hand shot out to lean against the frontage of a building.
What was going on with him?! His head was going to explode at this rate!
His eyes snapped shut to try and force the pain away.
"Ahjussi, are you alright? Do you need help?"
Cracking open one eye, he was met with a small, young girl that couldn't be older than thirteen. Her brows were furrowed in concern, one hand gripping her bookbag and the other a rolled-up, yellow umbrella.
Sunjae froze.
A rolodex of memories flickered by in place of the headache. Flashes of moments he didn't experience nor remembered but felt so intensely that his chest hurt. He doubled over, grabbing his torso, and the startled girl ran off.
Colours blurred and shifted together in a kaleidoscope to create the shapes of people and things. Pink lemonade in a sunlit park, a staggering bike under the moonlight, a ferris wheel, a necklace, a packed stadium with thousands of lightsticks shining at him, a bridge on a cold night, a video rental store, a yellow umbrella.
And her. Continuously, always revolving around and involving her.
Im Sol.
Sol-ah.
Sunjae gasped for air. Without realising, he had dropped on his haunches and was using his hands to steady himself against the pavement. His eyes were burning, his head feeling like his brain was about to escape.
It wasn't possible. It couldn't be possible.
But his heart sang a different story. All these moments... were his own. Though not of him right now, but someplace else, some time else. His body and heart and mind, but different.
And Im Sol, the scriptwriter, was part of all these moments.
Feet pounded the pavement towards him. It was a police officer. The girl must've alerted the man after he doubled over.
He stretched out his arm in protest. "I'm fine, I'm fine!"
The police officer peered down at him, worried. "You shouldn't be sitting here if you're sick, Sir. Go home, yeah?"
Sunjae huffed. "I'm not... I'm not sick. I'm..." His words wavered, halting in his throat, and a tortured sob came out instead. Just like that, hot tears streamed down his face.
More memories intruded that blurred his vision and made the officer indistinguishable. Terrible amounts of grief sliced through his chest with each vignette of himself dying in different universes. He died. Again and again. Always young.
And finally, the rolodex ended on its final card. A tableau of himself as a teenager, frozen in awe, as a young Sol sprints towards him with cherry blossoms cascading from the trees.
"S-Sir...?"
Groaning, Sunjae used the wall to get back on his feet. He wiped his tears with a rough hand, but it was no use: they just kept coming.
"I need to go," he croaked. "I need to..." find Sol. Confront Sol. Explain everything to Sol. Hug Sol. Kiss Sol. Touch Sol. Make sure Sol doesn't die. Love Sol.
Before the officer could get another word out, Sunjae ran off. Where to, he wasn't sure, but at this point he trusted his heart to point him in the right direction.
There were nine million people in Seoul, but all of his paths have always led to Sol.
#i've always wanted to use the word rolodex in a fic#it's such a fun yet pleasant word#anyway-#lovely runner#lovely runner fanfiction#ryu sunjae#im sol#soljae#my work#thank you imène for pointing out this metaphorical transformation within sunjae

I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED
(no literally Rachael reminded me about this and sent it to me so i could add to the list)
i have SO MANY feelings about kpop and we're gonna cover a pretty wide spectrum of stuff here including some classics that still stand the test of time that you may or may not have heard if you're newer to kpop. all of these groups i recommend more than just these mvs, but these are places to start if they're groups you haven't listened to so let's gooooo
Monsta X
youtube
fave song by my fave group first, obviously i'm gonna start here. Monsta X is an insanely talented group and just everything they do is great? they have so many bangers and especially now that they're writing and producing most of their music themselves, they're constantly thinking outside of the box with style and song structure and just. i love them so much and i love this song so much. you literally cannot go wrong with them. they're one of the few groups with multiple no skip albums for me. absolute kings.
Bigbang
youtube
wanna talk about groups i have feels about? i already had so many feelings about Bigbang, and GD's new songs plus the performance at MAMA this past weekend have had me crying 3-5 times a day the past few days so we're gonna go with this anthem. Bigbang was my intro to kpop in 2008 and so much has happened and things have changed to say the least but just. the grip they have on me and always will. this song goes hard and has almost 700 million views on youtube as i write this for a REASON.
2NE1
youtube
MY QUEENS. no girl group can or will ever top them for me. sorry not sorry. icons. that's all there is to it.
SHINee
youtube
i did say i had been a kpop fan since 2008 so you shouldn't be surprised this list is 2nd gen heavy so far. i deeply love a lot of newer SHINee songs too, but View is the jewel in the crown that is SHINee's discography. one of the most talented groups that's ever existed, in all ways- dancing, singing, production, composition, styling, everything.
NCT Dream
youtube
you ever hear a song that gently pokes you in a bunch of your emotions including the nostalgic and sad ones but still leaves you with hope and a sense that everything is gonna be better and like the future is bright so it's okay to be optimistic? Broken Melodies soars.
NCT 127
youtube
returning to the harder faster heavier beats vibe of the first few songs in this list. 127 covers a pretty wide spectrum of styles like a lot of groups, but this is the stuff i gravitate towards the most so here we are. uhhhh i don't know what else to say about this pick or these boys. i just really love NCT and all parts of it and this song was in my top 5 songs on Spotify last year despite not coming out until October so that should tell you how good it is. yes.
Oneus
youtube
Oneus has finally started getting the kind of recognition that they deserve and Luna is the song that cracked that for them. they're masters of mixing traditional sounds with modern kpop styles and have done it more than once. this song is rare in modern kpop also for the fact that the entirety of the song is in Korean without a single English lyric through the whole thing. it's gorgeous.
Onewe
youtube
Oneus's brother band (literally, there's a pair of twins split between the two groups) definitely deserves more attention too. their music is fantastic and their vocal blend is top notch, and Dongmyeong (their half of the twins!) plays KEYTAR how could you possibly go wrong?? they let themselves get covered in water for this MV and drowned a bunch of copies of their actual equipment, no nice instruments were harmed in the making of this mv.
A.C.E
youtube
do i have a deep love of underrated groups? maybe yes. the styling in this MV is INCREDIBLE, even if the song wasn't phenomenal it would be worth watching it just for the outfits, a stunning blend of traditional Korean clothing mixed with modern cuts, fabrics, styles, and accessories. it's just so cool and everyone looks so good.
WayV
youtube
listen i'm sure we could debate on whether or not WayV should be on a list like this but they're part of NCT and they're essentially just a mostly Mandarin singing kpop group. they release a lot of their songs with Korean versions (like Frequency which literally came out today and has only a Korean MV) and they live in Seoul and they perform on Korean music shows and etc. whatever. just listen to Phantom because it's incredible and they're beautiful and this MV is dripping in spooky vibes and luxurious outfits and men being entirely too pretty for their own good.
if you try any of these out and you want more recommendations about a specific group let me know! it was really hard to pick specific songs for this list.
also if you're curious about what's going on with this whole NCT thing and its subgroups (NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV, and the others i didn't include in this list) then stay tuned to my posts because i'll be posting a redo of my guide to getting into NCT soon!
now go forth and listen and enjoy things! and also, if you want, reblog this with your picks and recommendations and loves! sharing is caring after all 💖🌟
kpop sampler
my dear @auriette was asking about my non-skz kpop feelings, and i have so many of them, so i thought it would be fun to make a little playlist.
i'm sticking with the 10 link limit (which is v hard) but if you also have a lot of kpop feelings, please rb with a song/group rec of your own!
in no particular order:
The Rose (k-rock)
youtube
i love them. They are super funny on social media, and their music is incredible. Screaming this song at the top of my lungs fixes me a little every time. Woosung is also a soloist and he's amazing.
WOODZ
youtube
This song gives me the shivers.
He also has a cover of Hype Boy that is A+
The duality of man.
I think WOODZ is vastly underappreciated, and i wish more people were as into him as i am.
Ateez
youtube
i know i already talked about them a little bit, but i have to do it again because i love them. just a bunch of insanely talented, stupidly hot weirdos. i love that they're all nerds who make legos together and that everyone but hongjoong and jongho have zero concept of personal space. wooyoung and san are medalists in the kiss your homie olympics. (woo is also bffs with changbin and also yeonjun from txt)
i'm still obsessed with this song and this MV. the ateez lore is very intricate and this is basically cinema.
TXT
youtube
insane dance skills, super talented, great music. it was hard to pick which song of theirs to include here, but this is defintely a favorite. def check out devil by the window" also.
they collabed with the jonas brothers and anitta and both songs were incredible. yeonjun just released a solo album. more talented goofballs. i love them.
OnlyOneOf
youtube
i am obsessed with OOO. they are incredible. they do most of their own choreo, they committed to making their MVs queer af and include messages of acceptance and support for the lgbtq community in the notes for all their videos. they paired themselves up and talk about kissing each other casually.
and they back it all up with high concept MVs, insane choreo, and great music that will absolutley get stuck in your head. picking a song was hard, but this choreo is too iconic
Hwasa
youtube
i am obsessed with her. she is also in mamamoo, who are great, but i am currently absolutely obsessed with her cover of lunch. but this song which is a pretty direct call out of the rampant body shaming in the industry is so much fun.
KARD
youtube
kard is the only mixed gender kpop group i know of, and we need more.
they are all adults, and their music and MVs are, too. killer dancey tracks. their friendship is a lot of fun.
BM is also a soloist, and has some very explicit horny songs that don't bother with the (barely) innuendo that kard plays with. he's also hilarious on SM, and on the daebak show
Enhypen
youtube
they're just good. i love a concept album, and they killed it with this.
Evnne
youtube
i love them.
they were all on boys planet, and i love all the groups that formed from that show (i was going to cheat and make a whole playlist of bp groups, but i'm just going to share this one and i'll make a whole separate bp post)
this video and song are just so fun, and they're so good, and i wanted to yell about them.
(all the boys planet boys are also stray kids levels of obsessed with each other, which i appreciate --zb1 is probably the worst-best about this, but they're all super close)
oh gosh only space for one more... ahhhh who to choooose
Blitzers
youtube
this is just so much fun
no one really sounds like blitzers. the horns and big band elements are wholly unique and fit surprisingly well. they are super talented and clearly having a good time with what they do, and it's just a good time.
I hope you like at least some of these songs/groups!
(Now, to play by my own rules and not add another ten in a reblog unless specifically asked to do more!)
Please add your favorite kpop/krock groups to share the joy of good music that we can all be super normal about together!
#there are so many groups and songs i wanted to include in this#i have been listening to kpop for too long to be able to make lists like this without leaving out so much incredible stuff#like how did i not include super junior or block b? how could i leave out so many solo artists? 10 video limits are cruel#cruel i say!#also yes i am aware that multiple mvs on this list include groups with members that have been kicked out for not great reasons#but the songs that are here that include those members were released before they had done anything wrong that we are aware of#while i absolutely believe in immediately dropping all support for those former members and excising them from the groups they were in#i don't think the rest of the group should be punished because they didn't know that someone was shitty in the past#and their music that includes those people shouldn't be abandoned or ignored because someone was not yet shitty at the time of its creation#so things like old Bigbang songs and NCT 127 songs are still fine to listen to#i just didn't want to get into that stuff IN the post#but i also didn't want to NOT acknowledge it#mia talks about kpop#rachael and mia's get everyone so into kpop agenda#kpop#krock#music recs#kpop sampler#monsta x#bigbang#2ne1#shinee#nct dream#nct 127#oneus#onewe#a.c.e#wayv

Well, the one part of the question I didn't answer yet is what isn't part of the Tanach. Which, while it's a group that contains a lot of books (Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings aren't part of the Tanach, for example), we can still have a look at some books that potentially could enter but didn't. In addition, explaining why the Talmud isn't a part of the Tanach might also be helpful. So let us start talking about the codification and canonization of the Tanach!
Now, the codification of the Tanach, as in organizing the books that would enter and perhaps editing some of them, was a work done by Knesset HaGdolah - the Great Assembly of 120 Jewish rabbis and leaders that formed at the start of the 2nd Temple era, around 516 BCE (according to historians. There are some disagreement between them and traditional Jewish chronicles around this particular time frame). No decisive date can be put to the end of it, though. Some books that ended up in the Tanach were written around the early days of the Great Assembly - Ezra, for example - and the finalization of codifying and canonizing the Tanach likely happened some time after the books in it were written. It's likely that by the time Alexander the Great conquered the Land of Israel - around 332 BCE - there was a loose canon of texts, though I can't really say for certain. I would like to note, for example, that I've heard from Rav Aviah HaCohen that the book of Daniel contains words of Greek origin, indicating it has some degree of Hellenistic influence and thus was likely written when they controlled the land. From the perspective of a non-believer it also makes all the prophecies about the wars between the North and South kings more obviously about the Ptolemies and Seleucids. If it truly was written that late, it might well be the latest-written book of the Tanach.
Either way, there are evidence that by the time of the destruction of the 2nd Temple, the canon of the Tanach as we know it existed. It does not mean that it was undisputed - within the Pharisees, the 2nd Temple sect that gave rise to Rabbinic Judaism as we know it, there were still some disagreements about books that should be kept. Other sects (such as the Qumranites) wanted to add books, while yet others didn't accept the Tanach at all - the Samaritans still only consider the Torah as scripture, to this day. However, the Pharisees became the mainstream and thus based the canon.
So first, what disagreements were among the Pharisees? Well, for the most part, there were two books in dispute: Kohellet and Shir HaShirim. Now, there's also a disagreement regarding on which of them there was a dispute in the first place, which can get a little confusing. We'll just avoid that point for now and note that the problem with Kohellet was that it contradicted itself multiple times, and Shir HaShirim... well, it's kind of a romantic-erotic love song that doesn't exactly seem like it belongs in scripture, if we're being honest. However, both have stayed in canon - the Sages have explained the contradictions in Kohellet and Rabbi Akiva would have my head for suggesting the love song (commonly seen as a parable for G-d's love to the Israelites) doesn't belong in scripture. So that is that.
Now, another question that needs to be answered is what books could have entered, but didn't? There are many books that fit that title even if we only discuss Jewish religious books from that period (that aren't disqualified for reasons similar to the Talmud, elaboration on that later). To make things easier for me, I'm going to limit myself to talking about three particular books: the Book of Enoch, Ben Sirach and Maccabees. I could (and possibly should) stop here and not try explaining why they didn't enter the Tanach. However, if I had done that I could've just looked up a list of the Apocryphal book and paste it here. So, I'll attempt to get into the why. (In case you're wondering what apocryphal means, it appears the literal translation of the word is somewhere along the lines of dubious or inauthentic. In Hebrew those books are called Sefarim Ḥitzoniyim, meaning "outer books". Essentially - books that aren't a part of the Tanach's canon.)
The most problematic of these three is Ben Sirach. And I mean "problematic" in the sense it seems to have gotten the closest to entering. Ben Sirach is a book of proverbs and saying by a Jewish scholar, I think from Alexandria? Who wrote them around the time of the 2nd Temple. And this book is quoted in the Talmud a few times, with at least once that it's seemingly referred to as if it's a part of scripture. On the other hand, in the tractate of Sanhedrin (100B) Rav Yosef includes it among the books that reading in leads to exemption from having an afterlife. The weird part is that even he himself quotes from it a couple of lines later.
Well, a common explanation I've seen of that is that Rav Yosef there - as well as the Mishnah he comments on, which talks about Sefarim Ḥitzoniyim in general - don't actually mean one shouldn't read those at all. They merely mean that one shouldn't read it in the same way one reads scripture, and should remember it's not scripture. The reason Rashi gives to what the problem is with Ben Sirach is that it has some nonsensical or empty sayings (it's a little hard to translate, maybe it would be more accurate to say some of its sayings are rubbbish).
The Book of Enoch is an intersting one. It talks about the hierarchy of angels and the proper order of the world, from what I understand, and much of the lore in it is accepted as canon by both Christians and Jews (I think, though I didn't read the book). However, only one existing group in the world has it in their canonical Bible and those are Ethipean Christians. Well, I might be wrong - it could be that the Assyrian church also has it, as while modern editions lean heavily on the Ethipean version they still have other sources to lean on. Either way, this book - likely written during the Hellenistic period in the Land of Israel - is not a part of the canon of the Tanach. Why? I don't really know. Maybe the attribution of the book to such an old figure didn't sit well with the rabbis working on the canonization. Maybe they didn't believe it was written with any divine inspiration. Maybe it was written too late into the Hellenistic period, at a time when the canon was already set. Either way, it didn't get in, leaving Daniel as the only book in the Tanach that gives angels names.
Now, regarding the Book of Maccabees: there are actually four of them. I really don't want to get into all of them, so I'm going to focus on the first - which was likely written the closest to the actual Hasmonean rebellion, by someone who may have participated in it, and in Hebrew. And it still didn't get into the Tanach, though it gives much-needed context to the holiday of Hannukah. Why is that? Well, the most likely answer is that it wasn't written with divine inspiration. It's not something easily provable, and for a non-believer it's not going to mean much, so to rephrase - the people who canonized the Tanach didn't think it was divinely inspired. It just seemed like a chronicle of a war that was written after the prophecy was gone from among the Jews. Without prophecy, this book wasn't deemed a legitimate addition to canon and thus remained outside.
There are quite a few more books that didn't enter but you may have heard of - the book of Judith, the book of Jubilees, and many others. I have written a list in the first post of all the books in the Tanach - if it's not one of those, it's not inside. Usually under the assumption it wasn't written with Divine inspiration.
So, what about the Talmud? I am aware that you didn't ask this question. The Talmud is known to not be a part of the Tanach. But why is that? If it's a Jewish religious book, shouldn't it be included in the collection of our scripture? Well, to explain that we need to explain about the Oral Torah. This post is long enough as it is, however, so I'll try to keep it brief.
Basically, Orthodox tradition has it that Moshe got two Torahs on mount Sinai: one Written and one Oral, with the Oral one explaining the Written one and getting into the finer details of the law. Conservative Jews consider the Oral Torah to be a later addition by the Great Assembly, I think - if a Conservative JEw in the audience knows otherwise please do correct me. Its role doesn't change, however: it's always to explain the Written Torah, add some prohibitions to help avoid doing anything forbidden, and such things. The Oral Torah was codified into the Mishnah by Rabbi Yehudah HaNasi around the 2nd century CE, including in it various discussions and disagreements on details of the law. A couple of centuries later, a series of discussions and interpretations on the Mishnah were codified in the Talmud. In addition to these two books, the various Midrashim can probably also be considered a part of the Oral Torah.
You might notice I used the word "codify" and not "write". Even if you didn't, well, you should know that there's a reason for that: the Oral Torah truly is Oral, or at least was. It's very different in nature and purpose from the Written Torah and the Tanach. And that is why the Talmud isn't a part of the Tanach - because it's a part of the complex collection of interpretations on it.
I hope this was helpful! Thank you for asking (and for reading that), and have a good day! If you had trouble understanding something I wrote here, please don't hesitate to ask!
Secular jew here with a really stupid question about the tanach
What exactly constitutes the tanach? I think I've heard it's an acronym, so would the Torah be the t? what's the rest of the acronym? Which writings does it include? I'm pretty sure the talmud isn't part of it, what else isn't? Apologies if this is too basic of a question for you!
Hello! Thank you for the question!
The Torah indeed is the first part of the Tanach. Tanach is an acronym for the Hebrew words Torah, Nevi'im and Ketuvim. Roughly translated, those titles mean "Instructions", "Prophets" and "Writings", respectively. The Tanach, then, consists of 24 books divided into those three categories.
The Torah is the easiest one to define: it's the Pentateuch, the Five Books of Moses, however else you choose to call them, and they are generally known to be set apart. The books in it are Bereshit (Genesis), Shemot (Exodus), Vayikra (Leviticus), B'midbar (Numbers) and Devarim (Deuteronomy). Those are the books traditionally given to Moshe directly by G-d, and mostly focus on the formation of the Israelite people and its time under his leadership. It also includes all the commandments, basically.
Nevi'im are supposedly the books written by prophets, and half the books there are specifically books of prophecy (which is more messages from G-d than necessarily predicting the future). However, the first four books - Joshua, Judges, Samuel and Kings - are more historical in nature, chronicling the events from Moshe's death to the destruction of the 1st Temple. The last four books - Isaiah, Jeremaiah, Ezkiel and the Twelve prophets - are primarily books of prophecies and visions, with some stories sprinked in between. Most of them are concurrent with events in the book of Kings - except for the last three of the Twelve Prophets, who have lived around the building of the 2nd Temple. The Twelve Prophets are (by this order): Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Michah, Naḥum, Ḥabakuk, Zephaniah, Ḥaggai, Zacharias and Malachi. Names are written more or less in their traditional English spelling.
Then we get to the Ketuvim, Written texts, which are... a little more vague. It's hard to say if there's a uniting theme. A couple are books of parables and songs are there, yet others are more chronicles of events, either ones that occured after the time of the book of Kings, before it or concurrently with it. A common assumption is that the difference between those and the Nevi'im is the level of prophecy in writing them - where the Nevi'im were written under direct prophecies, while the Ketuvim were only written in Ruach HaKodesh (roughly translated as "the holy spirit", but I don't want to cause any confusion with Christianity). Either way, the books in the Ketuvim are, in order: Tehilim (Psalms), Mishley (Proverbs), 'Iyov (Job), Shir HaShirim (the Song o Songs/the Songs of Solomon), Rut (or Ruth), Eichah (Lamentations), Kohellet (Ecclesiastes), Ester (or Esther), Daniel, Ezra (and Neḥemiah) and Divrey HaYamim (Chronicles).
If you count, you'll find there are 5 books in the Torah, 8 in the Nevi'im and 11 in the Ketuvim - 24 in total. Ther Twelve Prophets, known as Trei Asar (which just means twelve), are considered one book, The division of Samuel, Kings, Ezra and Chronicles into two books each is relatively late and only makes sense in Ezra due to the obvious PoV shift. Which kind of reminds me, maybe a brief explanation is required as to what each of those last 11 books is.
Tehilim is a book of prayers and religious poems, traditionally written by King David (though they were probably collected long after his time). Mishley is the proverbs of king Shelomo (Solomon), some of which were definitely written long after his time (as in, it's directly stated inside the book). 'Iyov is possibly a parable, possibly a real story which serves as a background to a conversation on the problem of evil that doesn't seem to be solved within the book. The five books from Shir HaShirim to Esther are considered the Five Scrolls, but actually share very little in common: Shir HaShirim is a love song that sometimes become rather erotic, written by King Solomon. Ruth is an origin story to King David's family that occurs during the Judges period, and is about his Great-Grandmother and her conversion to Judaism (she was from Moab, which was a neighboring nation). Eichah is a book lamenting the destruction of the 1st Temple and of the Kingdom of Judea, traditionally written by Jeremiah. Kohellet is a philosophical book pondering the meaning of life - it either finds none or finds solace in faith, depending who you ask - also said to have been written by King Solomon. Esther is famously about the first organised Pogrom in recorded history - one against the Jews of the Persian empire, occuring during the Babylonian exile in Persia. Daniel is about the vision of a Jewish slave in the court of Nebuchadnezzar, who somehow succeeds to stay in a position of power after multiple switches in the government. The story of Daniel isn't half as interesting as his weird visions, though. Ezra is about the rebuilding of the Temple and Jerusalem after the return from exile, more or less - Ezra and Neḥemiah are the major leaders of this time period. This is pretty much a chronicling book - as is the last one, appropriately called Chronicles (Divrey HaYamim). That one basically attempts to sum up everything that happened to the Jewish people throughout history until the building of the 2nd Temple.
I've already written a lot and am too tired to explain why those books were codified and others weren't, so I'll just leave it at that for now.

#&juliet#had the absolute luck of watching this live the other night and it was. truly amazing!!! aaah#rough character designs for the younger leads (excluding like the Grown adult duos..) because?? idk#this is how it always starts. once the character designs start getting simplified like this that's when it all begins#which is hmmm timing but i really can't shut up about this musical it was so so fun. absolute vibes and energy#made me laugh and cry and was such an Experience. i adore them all but may specifically made me sob at some parts dfjkldfh#lots of thoughts! but one of the favs is how they wrote it so the existing songs and actions fit so well.#like in a rhyming bit they had frankie accept a drink and then the song was like ''drink in hand'' and i was all !!!!!!#also maybe it's local censorship? but there wasn't the kisses.. they replaced it w kissing hands and then holding hands#which is like a cute nod to the ''hand to hand holy palmers kiss' or smth but also maybe two guys doing that would not have made it past :/#oh my god i. the way rnj parallels the shakespeare duo... whdskjfhgh. may + not being a Girl kdjhgf. frankie and may. aaagh.#angelique being so so badass. i . the speech about Gender by anne and the Proposal by angelique both made the whole theatre cheer love that#also rotating stage lives in my mind rent free i ADORE the set holy moly.. also also the actors were so good. also the Projections.#also the music and costumes and special effects and aerial moments. and the ensemble. and the choreo#also the cast is so talented. and pretty. and the whole confidence part vs the vulnerability of some bits... whshjfgjkl. hhh#im just listing stuff now but it was so vibes. what an experience ever. it's also shot me directly into 14-years-old again so#spent the morning alone vibing to the soundtrack intensely... i just... sometimes things hold special places in your heart idk!!!#i don't know what to do with these designs though... like the show is such a lovely Spectacle but also idk where to branch out by myself no#there's so much to Absorb again and again. i get the feeling any true work from this i would do in a form of an animatic though.. oops#tldr? 1. &juliet very good just as itself 2. we have History 3. i got to see it live which always propels me into bonkers over musicals!#so so rough but i needed to get smth out and . whatever. an art blog is an art blog. back to hiatus now i think#<reminder to myself: this is essentially an artchive.. there's no quality control if you don't want it! have fun!! ily>

#and all of this is true while it is ALSO true that her songs age incredibly well#even debut or random soundtrack songs or endgame#whatever song people try to put on the worst Taylor songs list NEVER QUITE BELONGS#it doesn’t feel right. and to some extent occasionally in mercurial flashes I feel the same about her BEST songwriting list#I can never rank anything of hers ever because she can write better than she has written#if anything finds her own songwriting dead it’s what her future self will be able to achieve#and I think sometimes even the public can SENSE this about her and it’s part of why people are sooooo hard on her in a brutal way#and in a way they never are with other artists. who have reached the limits of their potential#Taylor has not reached the limits —that’s the simple way of saying it#in some way she is still figuring out the artist she is going to be#and I really do think that it is going to be absolutely astonishing#because in some ways (this is going to sound crazy) she is still distracted by her success and her tour#she’s NOT but I mean. the canon hasn’t been fully set free#there are still somehow things holding her back#and we’ve watched her outstrip so much of those early confines that fame and the business of the music industry strapped around her#we’ve seen her say ‘that doesn’t apply to me’#but actually she’s going to and she needs to and I believe she WILL continue to move into rarefied air#my mom helped me give me the final piece of this feeling (and it’s just a deep gut intuition/brain chemical thing for me)#when she said one day almost in mild exasperation: maybe one day Taylor will grow into a Dolly Parton#and something CLICKED#in my brain. and I don’t agree with my mom in terms of her non-interest in Taylor (as much as it has pained me to do so)#I think she’s worth loving and paying attention to now#but that gap that exists between people who love her and people who don’t (full time haters internet trolls do not interact)#I think it’s going to close with time as her work stretches out and out and grows and changes#like I think by the end of her career we are going to have something so astonishing#and to loop it back for a second to a previous thought. I think that’s why sometimes a taylor song can sound disjointed to me. because it#will hit the Depths of the Depth for a second. it will transcend and then it will go back to merely being an excellent pop song#those flashes are everywhere in her work but I think she is going to work and hone them into being conductors of light in a more steady way#the older she gets. does this sound INSANE. idk sometimes I think it does and then sometimes I think it DOESNt. so who knows. but yeah#it’s hard to say because I know it will read as more critical of Taylor than I mean it to be. when really I mean it with so much awe

my problem is that now that something is bothering me, I keep listing all the reasons (a couple of songs that are weird about religion and God, the old IOH tarot card thing, the jokey seance thing in I think the HMLAG or HFSG music video, Dying Inside, etc) that I shouldn't be a fan of FOB and it's really upsetting bc like, I'm sure part of this IS OCD/scrupulosity but also I'm so concerned that I'm going to have to give up one of my favorite things... despite the fact that what triggered this was pretty minor and I've known about all the other stuff for a long time and it didn't bother me in this way
😭😭😭
#me to me: girl there's nuance just because someone in the band is into that kind of imagery/storytelling(re:Dying Inside)#does not mean you have to throw the entire band out#also me to me: but I'm going to feel separated from God and like I'm disobeying him #ALSO also me to me: girl the PMS. the PMS

Fate is on your side today! Meet Otto Suwen, a simple man with the simple dream of opening his own store, while the only obstacle in his path is fate hating him so bad that his luck needs to take a shit on him constantly. But the real question is: is his misfortune really just bad luck, or is it his own actions getting in his way too? The answer is yes. Oops Swein, a “simple” man, only has two modes: so sweet you forget how annoying he is, and so annoying you remember why fate hates him. Wielding green hand-me-downs from his Astrea-loving grandpa and a punchable smile, Otter ping pongs between everything because he is only straightforward once in a blue moon. Need help running from danger? Ottoto is here to save the day, but not because he likes you or anything! He was just there too, so he saved you as a supplement to saving himself! Need some money? Sure, this money totally isn’t even his anyway! Need some nudging to get out of your shell? Certainly! Being in a near death experience in front of you should do the trick to help you open up, because he already knows you’re wrapped around his finger! Need help you didn’t even ask for? Of course! He’s going to end all your enemies now. What, you want him to tell you his backstory? It’s easy, he’ll just cut out the part where he was exiled, there’s an assassination hit on him, and that time he accidentally burnt down a bar, and that other time some people accidentally fell off a cliff he was conveniently on! Is it walking in darkness, or purposefully turning away from the light? To Otter, it’s basically the same thing, he’ll just deny that the latter exists to clear his hands yet simultaneously wallow in guilt-not-guilt. His dream is only simple because everyone who loves him expects him to fail—not only because his luck shits on him, but also because he has every addiction in the book except for weed because his little bro already got that one. So don’t even worry about it! Ottobro is a simple, normal guy who is definitely fully honest in his evaluations of himself, has self-worth that isn’t defined by his laundry list of vices, and consistently Does Not require mental gymnastics to keep himself deceptively functional. Just remember: when he says he’s bad, he’s good, and when he says he’s good, he’s bad. When you write him being good, always remember he can and will be worse. When you write him being bad, always remember that he usually has good intent that will then be warped by his laundry list of justifications. Tis the Swain way—love is business, business is life, and being warm and calculated is how one shows affection. Anyway, his theme song is Akumo no ko. I will now be hunted down shortly after writing this due to exposing the rot underneath Audrey’s cardboard cutout soft boy image. The moral of the story? Do not put superpowers that have killed all previous holders of it + merchant ideals into one person or you will make a being of mass destruction—I mean. Uh. Sugar, spice, and everything nice.
hello re:zero fan. in front of you is a re:zero character. describe them and who they are as a person without mentioning or angling your analysis around subaru natsuki.
#rezero#re:zero#otto suwen#i mean. oops swein#otter swain?#ottobro suewen?#🥰 forgor his name#‘in another world i would have liked to do taxes and laundry with you’ as the poets say
