it was about time i typed out my thoughts on grateful cypher lol. i’m still processing it actually!!!! but i actually think this play is not for me lmao!!!! it was a genuinely fantastic play don’t get me wrong, like i was actually taken aback by how the play went down, depicted some of my fav relationship beats at their finest and had lots of banger moments, but the moment it became very tdd centric, i knew this was not the play for the type of fan i am lol

but whatever!!!! i’m used to feeling like sasara and kuukou are side pieces so here’s what i really enjoyed about grateful cypher!!!!!

legends era stage’s funniest song was that rosasa on live tv for how the actors took to that bit and were playing around with everyone lol like they were peak adlibs but i genuinely think ‘Sight-Seeing and Gambling and Partying and Adult’s Only Streets’ is now Thee funniest song hypstage has ever put out LOL

like the title alone was sending me but then the actual song made me laugh so hard, there were literally tears in my eyes and i had to go back to make sure i didn’t miss anything bc i was laughing so hard LOL

like that song literally put the power of music on display, when jyushi and hitoya got separated in tokyo and had their own little adventure bumping into the other divisions trying to find each other, the beat was literally

ight so imma try to keep the nitpicking to a minimum as we get into the actual play lol but samatoki and ichiro just slugging sasara and kuukou for trying to break up their fight was actually insane lmao

it wasn’t something i particularly liked in canon, but the stage really highlighted how in the early days of the tdd manga, mcd and nb mirrored tf out of each other, as in, they physically showed their bond in the same way and it was stupid tbh but it was kinda cool to see in that throwback kinda sense lol

*crying* but that remorse ichiro had accidentally hurting kuukou in canon…… even tho it’s lowkey linked to ichiro not wanting to hurt anyone……… and then it was kuukou who instigated the fight bc of his penchant for violence………. uuuuuuuuuuuuu…………..

i am slightly mollified by the two of them being in each other’s faces in order to argue in a very stark contrast to the others lmao

i liked them!!!!! they were scrappy as hell bc they were very aware of their weakness so they compensated in the worst way possible lmao

it was a bit of a missed opportunity to not have kuukou be a part of their final confrontation since he’s all about training to bc he thinks he’s weak but it’s all good lol ichiro’s same hat bro!!!!!

i got ahead of myself tho lol, that tdd confrontation scene after sasara, kuukou and jyushi got taken out was pretty neat actually lol. i am someone who agrees everyone made up a liiiiiiittle too quickly, and i always liked the stage exaggerated conflict so this was nice see lol

like stage ramuda has one hell of a stage presence, he carried that entire scene, from that nonchalance that made rosho accuse him of hurting🎋📿🌙, to his eventual descent into feeling betrayed but accepting bc it was his own actions that caused so much distrust in him

the hama fans were (rightfully) upset there wasn’t a single scene between mtc, and it’s very likely bc if samatoki had been with a single member of his team, much less the both of them, he would not have gotten taken out by west end mafia lmao

and more on hachiouji division!!!!!! ain’t they neat lol????? they’re so interesting, they all want to be praised and validated, like tokuma (kinda), yoshitsune, ranmaru and shion all turned to mahiru for that validation and west end mafia’s ultimate goal was mahiru’s way to gain that validation ITS SICK

and i really liked the way you could kinda tell mahiru and tokuma were like a boss and his right hand man 🥺🥺🥺

west end mafia still reminds me of the pet shop boy’s ‘west end girls’ and i still doubt that song was the inspiration behind their name but it’s a song marred in violence as they build a lasting foundation so it kinda sorta fits hachiouji lol

also mahiru has a uk button on his jacket and the song’s british lol 🤭🤭🤭

that rei and ichiro scene after ichiro lost his bros to hachiouji literally took my breath away lol

rei guiding him to slow down and think and the song was backed by some incredible vocals on rei’s part like bruh 😭😭😭😭

i really really liked how by working together, those who were left were actually able to out manoeuvre hachiouji

but they went separate ways, jakurai and ichiro going to the hachiouji base just the two of them and got out manoeuvred by hachiouji’s teamwork like what a banging choice 😭😭😭

i did not like watching jiro and saburo in fear ☹️ it was looking pretty rough for them, thank god the rest of the leaders pulled up lol

ik i shouldn’t lol but i loved the way kuukou made sure to protect jiro and saburo and promised to carry on their rage for them 🥺🥺🥺 it directly mirrors ichiro taking on mahiru’s rage at the world on his back for them but again, i shouldn’t be making those connections lol
