#it would have been really cool to see each group pioneer different aspects of clan life

dawn of the clans has so much wasted potential, as much as i don’t mind the second half of the arc (in general i don’t mind reading about clan minutia) it does really suck that the latter half of that arc had basically nothing to do with actually establishing the clans beyond basically splitting into the groups and picking leaders. we could have seen the development of the apprentice system and the creation of the deputy role, the creation of patrol types and their regular usage in all of the groups, the beginning of the naming system, and the early roots of later clan traditions but no three more books of clear sky fucking things up for everyone
#it doesnt break the arc entirely but i feel like you can tell two different teams wrote this arc#the first half is fine and is a good setup for a shift to actually establishing the clans as we know them and then it doesnt happen#i feel like you could see the seeds in that first part. particularly wind runner naming her dead kit emberkit. and then no naming system#warrior cats#dawn of the clans#salty talks#like you can keep a few of the later plotpoints and clear sky being a war criminal but. no actual clan establishment beyond just making#groups? and then gray wing and his kits name them which. honestly? thatd be fine to keep as the very last thing#like theres that whole thing abt river ripple starting the apprentice system. that would have been really cool#it would have been really cool to see each group pioneer different aspects of clan life#clear sky with patrols river ripple with apprentices maybe thunder with deputies wind runner with the naming system#maybe tall shadow couldve been the first to use the title ‘warrior’ for her group. idk we couldve had so much#keep the meddie and leader lives stuff after the fact with moth flight’s book it makes sense for that to come once the foundation is laid#but they barely actually laid that foundation in the first place
