Dan Watches: Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope

Alright so I did this for Episode I which you can find here and then Episode II which you can find here and then Episode III which you can find here. So here’s my weird live reaction/note taking/whatever this is.. to Episode lV.

I remember this being my favourite of the original trilogy because it sets everything up and basically kick started everything but lets see if that changes when i’ve finally got through all of these.

Also I’m just watching whatever version i can find online because I can’t be bothered to go and find my dvd of it so yeah.. whether we get weird updated version or original effects or whatever, who knows.

All the old effects like how C3p0 looks and r2d2 are impressive.

There wasn’t really anything in the opening crawl i felt like commenting on, no big THEY DID THAT IN THE OPENING? but i guess it’s the first one that came out so that makes sense.

WTF did the stormtroopers use to get that door open, that was so explosive wtf.

Also the blasters are like set to 10000 and smoke is everywhere.

How did nobody shoot the dorids?

The Jedi being called a religion is kinda weird but i guess accurate.

This has to be the worst star to a friendship for all three of them. Chewie seems cool though.

I also thought the trash compactor scene was earlier on in this movie than it is.

Who the fucks voice was it that said “Thats your imagination” ?

How the fuck are they standing if the water is that deep?

I liek the touch of the monster whos name im sure i learnt but forgot let go as if it knew the trash compactor was about to turn on, that implies it has a safe spot down there that it stays.

Some of the voices sound off on this but ah well

Hans already a little Handsy with Leia but i think Harrison Ford was sleeping with Carie at the time so like.. i get it.

Obiwan just strolling about, as you do.

I love just these giant pits with walkways with no rails. If I worked on the Death Star it’d be a nightmare for me to get around.

As lack luster as the chroeography is in this fight im kinda thinking of it as like, they’re reading each other, like Obiwan and Maul’s final fight.

I don’t really know why Obiwan just chooses to die like that but heyo.

Vader stomping on Obiwans clothes? Why? I guess because he gave himself to the force and thats the first time he’s seen that?

I love the gunner seats moving around, idk why i just love it.

Whats the point of the ear peices if they’re just gonna shout at each other.

Not mentioned it until now but everyone says Leia wrong.

They’re really harsh to Han tbf

This is like if you got an Uber to a place and then the Uber driver got pulled into a police station because you’re a terrorist and then you have a go at the Uber driver for wanting to leave after he’s got you out of there.

I like how Biggs earlier scenes are deleted so when he shows up it’s just this random dude who somehow knows Luke

That air traffic control guy has no idea what hes doing, nobody is even in the air yet or moving, wait.

Man X wings are cool, makes me think of Battlefronts VR mission thing where you get to pilot one and it’s the coolest VR thing ive done.

For a space station the size of a moon you’d think they’d have enough fighters to just wipe out the rebels no biggy.

ALSO if they know the rebel base is on that planet, why not just blow that planet up?

Nott’s backstory relating to tonight’s events

this is just the stuff I’ve remembered, so if I missed stuff please add on.

C2E8 - (”Nott, how old are you?”) “We don’t celebrate birthdays, it’s hard for me to know exactly...I’m of child bearing age.”

Nott didn’t talk a lot about goblin life or her part in it, but here she talks about the culture surrounding aging and birthdays. It’s been said before, but it’s interesting that she specifically notes child bearing

C2E19 - “For as long as I’ve been alive I haven’t really felt comfortable in their--in my skin.”

Two things of interest here: “been alive” is an odd way to phrase this, and the use of “their” initially could just mean a perceived psychological difference, or could indicate that Nott wasn’t always a goblin

C2E19 - “I was kind to him...I became friends with him. He was nice...we left together.” (”Did you love him?”) “I don’t know. He taught me his language...we ran off in separate directions and I’ve been running ever since.”

First time she brought up Yeza. Assuming she’s telling the truth here, she makes it seem like they didn’t know each other before meeting when he had been captured. She also makes it seem like she was ignorant of halfling culture; Yeza had to teach her the language. No timeline on this, but Nott says she’s been “running ever since,” which could be taken a couple of ways. She does imply she isn’t sure if he got away or not.

This makes tonight’s big reveals all the more interesting, since Nott is claiming Luke as her son; the timeline doesn’t add up. Nott is a full-grown goblin at least, placing her around 8, and Luke was said to be around 5. He does, however, have knowledge of his mother, which would mean Nott would have had to be around from his birth to at least age 3 to be his birth mother.

Goblins and halflings also cannot produce children without magical means, which I think they would have been unlikely to find in such a small village. It’s possible Yeza brewed some kind of potion for it, but to what end? Why would they want a child with all the trouble their relationship would already bring?

C2E41 - (”What was your first kiss like?”) “It wasn’t as romantic, it was just a dare...[we were] pretty young, just kids, ‘you kiss her, now you kiss him’ kind of thing...I don’t remember his name.” (”Do you remember the ‘softness of his lips?’) *softly* “I do, yes. It was a good day.”

Taking everything here with a grain of salt, since Nott tried to lie about it initially. I think her not remembering his name is untrue. However, note that this doesn’t sound like typical goblin routine: playing spin-the-bottle games? Daring each other to kiss? None of this sounds remotely like the goblin life Nott has described in the past.

SO. Time to align the facts and present theories.

1) Nott was born a halfling. I’ve seen this one a lot tonight, in various forms: it is possible Nott was previously a halfling who, one way or another, was turned into a goblin. I’ve seen it said that she died and was reincarnated, or was brought back using the “beacon.” This one has a few points to its credit, namely Nott’s reluctance to associate herself with goblins and goblin culture, her ignorance of her own age and description of childhood games, and her claiming Luke as her own son. On the other side, we have her descriptions of meeting Yeza late in the game and learning halfling from him, which she would already know if she had been raised a halfling, the timeline surrounding this meeting/Nott’s running/Luke’s birth, and the improbability of her being somehow transformed into a goblin.

2) Nott is impersonating Luke’s mother Veth. This one is SUPER interesting and I’ve seen it a few times tonight as well. In my mind, it’s more likely than the first theory for a few reasons: firstly, it would correct the timeline. Nott isn’t his biological mother, so she wouldn’t have given birth to him and he would know her if she wore Veth’s face. Secondly, when Sam asked if Nott knew Edith, Matt said “You know of Edith,” but Edith recognized Veth’s face when she came to the door. Edith said “I thought you were dead,” Luke said “Daddy said the goblins killed you” and “I got presents but [Daddy] just says they’re from somebody.” This all points to the theory that Veth was killed by Nott’s clan, and now Nott is wearing her face. Why hide who the presents are from if she’s his real mom? Even though she’s away, it wouldn’t make sense to tell her son she’s dead if she weren’t.

Downsides: none of this explains her obvious love for Luke; Nott is terrible at lying, and looked way too sincere to have been faking caring for this little dude. When would she have met him and gotten to know him? For that matter, when would she have gotten a good look at and recognized Veth enough to copy her appearance? It’s possible that Nott snuck away to Felderwin during the time she was friends with Yeza and saw them both, I suppose, but it seems thin.

There are other small things that don’t fit: Nott could have been born something other than a goblin or a halfling, but how/why was she transformed? How did she get so close to Yeza and his family over the course of his, max, year-long imprisonment? What makes Nott so different from the other goblins?

New Surgery

Hello all i know its been a long time since i have been on here. Life has been, well life. 1. Huge life event that happened, i now have an amazing boyfriend, yeah, me. Its been several months, love him to death. He looks past all the things that i call flaws. Its a healthy relationship, which im not use to,at all. Hes a big guy, looking to get into this weight loss journey as well. 2. I havent spoke on this much but around this time in 2012, is when my mothers health began to decline. In and out of hospitals, surgeries etc, until her death on dec 22 of 2012. So from june, until then its a very hard time for me and my sister. Thats one of the reason i decided to start writing again. Im working for a clothing company that i love! It will be a year in sept.

So, for the news...Im having another surgery done. Ive gained back 34 pounds of what i lost, on top of that my cholesterol is high, blood pressure is ok, but im not pre diabetic. Yes, ive messed up a lot! I feel so guilty, ashamed, every kind of emotion you can thing up. Im up a pant size and shirt size. I was doing fine food wise, following what im suppose to. BUT my weakness is desserts. Peanut MMS, cakes, cookies, donuts. I got really bad, and out of hand. When i got my blood work back and those were the results, i cried and my heart sank. I said i would NEVER be the person to screw up this opportunity. Now look. I went to see my surgeon for a follow up, explained everything to him, and thats when he mentioned this surgery, Its called The Duodenal Switch. Im sure youve heard about it in your seminars, online etc. Its a combo of the Gastric Sleeve. They remove your gall bladder, and reroute your intestines. This way you consume less calories etc. This was the surgery i was going to have, but when you do it with out doing the sleeve first, its a very long process, and a lot of healing time, so i opted to do the sleeve. Well thank God he is giving me another chance to make things right. I will NOT fail this time. Once im healed my boyfriend, friends, family, whoever is going to work out together, Im cutting down on desserts a lot.Not all the way, but a huge change is going to happen. Im going to meal prep, I wasnt eating no where near as much calories as im suppose to, let me rephrase that, healthy calories.

So in june 27th i started the liquid diet again. I have my surgery scheduled at st lukes for july 11th. It can not come fast enough. I took 16 days off of work. Im hoping that will be enough, they say people usually take off a month. I cant do that, but will if need be.So how am i feeling? Not great. Im barely getting over the sugar detox. It was horrible. I was very fatigued, light headed, dizzy, nauseous on and off. The will power to fight not getting something to eat is very hard this go round. Last year, i prepared myself. I was juicing, but down on sweets, fats, fried foods etc. So this part wasnt a problem, of course i had cravings but i was fine. Even thought my stomach did expand a little bit, its very hard to drink the full meal replacement shake. So im doing 6oz of water instead of the 8oz. I have to have it 4 times a day or i feel so sluggish. Im going to do 3 times a day and add a protein bar that im going to make myself tomorrow. Ill take pics and let you know how it takes, and ill leave the recipe. I got it online, but im doing alot of tweaking to it.

As for the testing etc, thankfully i didnt have to do all the seminars and request again, just the preop testing. They went fine. My weight before i started was 356, since starting the liquid diet im now 340. I will try my hardest to keep you all updated after the surgery. Im not sure how ill feel after this one.

Episode 9 Confessionals

dammit i aligned with the one person everyone wanted out in the merge first.. why is jordan pines still here? well im using my power and bouncing the fuck out next round--- see ya suckers!

i hate blindsides. like people are always like "omg BLINDSIDE haha this is so fun!!" no. theyre not fun. do u rlly like having to own up to everything after tribal to people u just betrayed and u cant tell them EVERYTHING that happened but u have to tell em something and tey always feel betrayed. not fun, and katies obv pretty hurt while bryce is hiding it. like im not gonna blindside if its always this unfun. i dont wanna spill my guts and be all weird bc i dont like doing it :/ but telling people who im voting isnt fun either idek

So the vote didn't go my way. Someone is working with jordan and luke. i think the way the votes fell it was me and chris on jordan, katie on luke, willow on me, and charlotte, luke, jordan, carson, zach on chris. everyone is saying that it was last minute and just wanted to go with the majority. but that doesnt add up. i was told that i wasnt clued in because they didnt know if i was close with chris or not. and that they wanted to flush the idol that jordan has. but if you all vote with him he obviously wont play it?? also i wasnt told because chris chose me to go on the wishing well im pretty sure which is lame. we werent even close and i would be fine voting him even if i think its the wrong move seeing as how luke and jordan need to go sooner or later. im most betrayed by carson because i told him hes my number 1 and he said the same but he doesnt let me know saying it was last minute. but he talked to me right before the vote and said it was jordan so clearly it wasnt too last minute. willow voting me is so random but i need to make sure i get her back with me b/c i think i can use her. this vote has brought me and katie closer i think which is good, she really seems to think that charlotte was the mastermind of the vote and i kind of agree. i just dont get why charlotte wanted us to split and then do this. she convinced chris to split too i believe which is sad for him. but like why would she make a split if she already had 5 votes. so i think its maybe not her, or she was doing that for extra caution. anyway people still have these advantages from the auction so im wary and just want to win the immunity to secure myself. i need to work on my relationship with luke and willow i think b/c i think that can be beneficial moving forward.

katie used her power.. like why?? i love katie but like.. that was dumb. after me incessantly telling her, youre fine, youre safe. but whatever. (but i get her point of view too because i wouldnt trust me after telling her i was voting jordan then helping her split votes on luke then voting chris out lmao) hopefully the plan of getting jordan out can work this round even though katie using her power semi? nto really complicates the plan. patience sucks by the way

Jordan won immunity which is PERFECt because it means he can't be voted out but now I'm just worrying about me. I know we managed to get the numbers last round but I'm nervous about whether or not people will vote me off this round or not, especially since I'm the only vulnerable Copa at tribal council. That being said I /do/ have 2 idols in my pocket so I could just pull one of those but I wanna try and wait as long as I can before I have to use those. Ideally I want Willow out this round, I don't really talk to her and I don't think she trusts me especially after we played Dead Sea together and I had a hand in exposing the idol that she played incorrectly (oops?)! Zach didn't really like the idea of getting Willow out but Jordan wants to so I'm gonna see what I can do. It ain't over yet

So we're talking about voting out Willow this round.

She's nice, but there are no real allegiances (as far as I know) that she has in this game. Her vote was wild last round for Bryce, so it should be easy to get him on board to vote for her too. Jordan and Zach both need to go at some point but right now they, and Carson, are the only people I enjoy talking to so ... maybe I'll play this out and just bring a bunch of threats to the end with me. Why not? Can you imagine a final three filled with people who actually played decent games? It'd be a blood bath to see who wins and I am SO here for that.

this vote is a little intricate. but before I get into that, I want to explain other stuff. I was so close to copying Jordan's score because I knew from a past game he got perfect, so I would only assume he'd get it again. That being said, I would've felt really shitty and it may have potentially fractured my relationships with some of them. anyway the five person alliance type thing of char/luke/jordan/carson/myself aint going to stick much longer because..... everyone wants me out. I wanted Bryce out and i got it going but unfortunately people are doing willow.

Willow leaving is kind of bad for my game, but nonetheless it's the decision and I can't resist it much. I plan on telling her the truth, and getting her to use her golden fan so that I can maybe get a new power because my rope fucking sucks (well, sometimes it can, but its a tiebreaker rip) I think if she didnt use it, she'd give it to me? and i think thatd be fine but i dont want to use it because luke would be mad, so if she's leaving, then why not just let it be her since she's leaving anyway? I love Willow to death though so her leaving is going to be sad :( I think ideally the next person i'd want out is Jordan. One of the trio of L/C/J have to leave, and i'm least closest with Jordan and despite Char being like... opened about wanting me out because i can go on a comp streak, i don't want her out bryce can leave too. i dont talk to him much, but he's a nice guy! the game's the game, and it sucks though. Also it's fucking crazy how already its final 8 like?? it feels like the game started lowkey like 2 days ago and .... we're almost half way done.. wait we are DSMGODSMGDS okay done

"honestly i love how in this game votes are determined like ~6 hours before the vote and its settleede easily for the most part" zach even tho we've only had three votes including this one and the last one he said he was" told last minute" so what the truth!!! I think we're voting willow here everyone seems to be on board but i was blindsided last time and theres no saying I wont be blindsided again. I really wanted to win immunity but i flopped big time but maybe itll make people think im not a threat. Im gonna try to bring me carson zach charlotte back together and hope for the best because it would be 4-3. but also i want to remain close with katie even tho she ditched me... iconic queen. She told carson before hand but not me so thats interesting i guess!

willow targeted charlotte and spread her name, and charlotte acc does have some power so... ppl (bryce) ratted to charlotte and now willow's on the chopping block. sigh. im fine with willow going i guess ill just need a new final 3 person for me and zach?? whatevs. also willow has a golden fan apparently that mixes up the golden fan so me + zach r gonna try and get her to use it before tribal so we can possibly get some items. also.. at the start of this tribal EVERY name was tossed out besides me and zach. this could be because people know we're close or maybe we actually are in a good position. i think its the former but who knows. hoping this vote can be pulled off easily and i won't be the blindsidee tonight.

Currently trying to get the votes to get Willow out. So far I think I have me, Jordan, Charlotte and Bryce and with Katie gone that's majority for this vote. Zach still doesn't want to do it but I may just have to go behind his back on this vote and not do what he wants but that's the game. Hoping this works because I have a really weird feeling about tonight.

Okay so as of currently I think Carson, Zachary and Charlotte are the biggest threat and I want Charlotte gone lowkey

But I'm at my friends house so I don't have lots of time as usual ugh, also I'm a dumbass who got the challenge time wrong also Bryce suspected it was me who voted for him last round rip

I've been being jewish all day so im just here now, so first confessional - hooray jordan finally won a fucking immunity challenge, it took way too long rtp. like seriously wtf

Anyways splitting this confessional up into 2 cause tribal is soon and i got nothing to talk about, but like bye willow, you were cool i guess, we didnt talk. sorry hon

Okay so like its definitely gonna be me tonight and I sorta tried but I think it's gonna be a unanimous vote and I just wanted to say I love Zach and Carson and I hope they do well in this game and I'm excited to use my fan and stir shit up right before I leave and continue only ever getting 8th in side seasons

i gave zach my idol bc im a paranoid bitch and have a bad feeling about this vote. also FUCK everyone for wanting (or faking) to vote out literal ANGEL Willow. i just like told her im voting her and love her and wanna be friends after :// Also idk. i have a weird feeling. if i am blindsided, then good game bitches.
