hey!!!!
I’d like to request vox (I sense you like him a normal amount) x gn!reader headcanons where the reader is an overlord and is in charge of theatrical productions such as musicals, in which vox sees as ‘out of date’ and therefore detests the reader, but the reader is oblivious to this and is always seen trying to befriend him? I could see this as some good slow burn :)))
thanks a ton! 🎀
I DEFINATELY like him a normal amount :)
Anywho- Have to write for this guy more often and the second I saw this request, I knew I was gonna have so much fun writing this! Vox slow burn is literally my kingdom come-
ENOUGH SAID-
Vox x gn!thespianOverlord!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cheery and old-timey, that’s how Vox viewed you.
Truly, he only interacted with you because the musicals you produced for his films sold very well. But the world was begging and in need of more realistic movies and shows. Musicals just weren’t as interesting to him. So he always saw you as a luddite. Maybe not to the extent he saw Alastor that way. But your mannerisms and theatrics reminded him so much of his rival, so despite you having done nothing but benefitting favors for him, he kinda hated you on the lowkey. But who didn’t he hate at this point?
He at first found you extremely obnoxious. The way that, at times, people flocked to your theater productions instead of his movie premieres…
Despite this, despite hating you so, you were always so kind to him. It baffled him truly, that you never caught the hint.
The amount of time he’d rejected your invitation for coffee at your opera house should have already given the hint but you always figured he was busy (he was one of the most powerful overlords after all).
Every time a meeting was held, you spoke to him before and after the meeting. Always in such a friendly manner that made Vox smile awkwardly at you. He couldn’t outright tell you to stop talking to him, that would give off the wrong impression about him. So he would try his best to socialize with you without making you think you two were friends.
At times, you’d send him friendly gifts after collaborations.
You’ve given him blue roses after writing a particularly famous movie musical that earned both you and him a huge amount of money.
(He’d never admit it, but they made him feel special. He put them in a vase and kept them alive as long as possible.)
You definitely text him as if you two were friends. Which he always responds to very dryly, but you figure (again) that he’s probably too busy to put much thought to the text. Either way, you’re happy to hear back from him.
He does ghost you on occasions, which you don’t take personally (much to his dismay).
You find yourself always speaking fondly of him and his image. Admiring him to some degree. The way he acts in front of everyone, you ought to ask him to try acting for a production! His skills impress you a lot. And you’ve told him before. Which, for a moment (and only for a moment), made Vox think you weren’t that bad.
Oh, what he hated the most… it had to be seeing your play advertisements plastered all over the city.
Hell, you would also go up to him and ask him if he could advertise your shows.
You’d pay, so he couldn’t say no…
But the medium you expressed yourself with, oh how much he detested it!
Sometimes, out of courtesy (despite how much he detested you), he’d always accept the invitation to come to your Opera productions. Velvette liked to see the outfits the actors wore (and criticize them), and she always ended up dragging him along anyway. So he always ended up going when invited.
This particular time, you were putting on a production of Phantom of the Opera. The actress who was supposed to play Christine/The Phantom got severely ill, and the understudy was killed in the recent extermination. So it was up to you to take matters into your own hands and save your production.
The second he saw you in that scene, his eyes shot open wide. He’d never seen you act before. Hell, you looked so good on that stage, that even Velvette’s heavy criticisms of the play’s costume wardrobe didn’t move him.
And your voice! God… He’d wish someone that pretty/handsome would sing to him like that. Maybe it was the character you played and how they depicted them.
Matter of fact, he was paying attention to the plot this time. Unlike the other occasions.
The fact that you were willing to jump in and play the part perfectly as if you’d been rehearsing it every day surprised him. You’d be perfect in one of his movies, he just KNEW IT!
After the production, you approached him. Speaking to him and thanking him for coming to see as you always did.
The way he smiled at you was no longer full of false politeness. He now spoke much more freely with you. And it made you feel like you were finally important enough for him to have time for you! It was such a great feeling!
He didn’t want to admit how his perception of you had changed but let’s just say he began to plan more musicals.
Velvette knew what was going on the second he stayed to talk to you a bit longer than usual. She made fun of him for DAYS.
Tumblr media
He would begin to respond to your DMs with less dryness.
And he would accept your offers to drink coffee at the opera house (he’d deny them sometimes to not raise any suspicion on your side or from his fellow Vees).
He would publicly deny any ties with you and would try his best to balance it out by telling Valentino just how “annoying” you were.
Vox being the obsessive little man-child he is, would survey you. Or rather, jump in excitement the second you appear in the sight of one of his cameras.
He’d set up a camera in your opera house just to see you directing rehearsals and even to see you practice.
He refuses to admit his feelings, but his fellow Vees are finding it hard to pretend they don’t know. Vox is… very obvious…
He begins sending you roses (yellow so he doesn’t make anyone think that he’s THAT obsessed with you).
He might start spiraling a bit when he sees any man approach you. But oh no, he had to keep himself together. You two were nothing, he didn’t like you! He only stayed close to you for convenience! …right?
Until he received another bouquet of blue roses signed off as “-Your Thespian Angel of Music”.
Oh, he went nuts! He had to find the footage of you signing it off. And just as he suspected, you were bashfully smiling as you wrote the note.
He couldn’t! He simply couldn’t let this change his mind! But he didn’t have much time to think about the move you’d made, because you’d invited him for coffee soon after.
Oh, he couldn’t keep himself together that time. Your smile, the warmth of your fireplace… it was all too much for him.
So it slipped out his mouth, he invited you to come over to his place and watch a movie.
You gladly accepted and after agreeing to a date for this to happen, you two were set!
Of course, he planned for you two to watch a musical together.
When you arrived at the V-tower, he was anxious to make sure that you were greeted properly. So he himself walked you to his area.
Sideye from Velvette because she just knew that Vox inviting you was him admitting to them that he was definitely into you.
During the movie, he admits that he thinks you’re pretty cool and you take it as a huge compliment!
When you go home after the little date-not-date, he can’t get you off his mind! The way your eyes shone in the TV’s light, the way you paid careful attention to every scene. Oh, he was so stupidly in love with you.
So what did he do next? He spent his free minutes texting you. Sending you Envees (the hell version of TikTok) he thought you’d like and you sent him some back.
He’d start advertising your stuff for free now!
If it wasn’t already obvious to the Vees, now they knew he was head over heels for you.
Eventually, he got Velvette into thinking you weren’t that bad… Maybe she could put some more style into your shows.
Tumblr media
After a few months of you talking to Vox and Velvette casually texting you, she was fed up with Vox’s obsessive giggling when he saw you in the cameras, so she told you.
Yup. Velvette told you he liked you.
You were elated, to say the least. To be seen in a favorable light by such a powerful overlord was one thing. But to be the object of his adoration… Oh, you were more than happy.
So you set up another coffee date with Vox at your opera house.
To his surprise, you kissed him at the doorstep of your opera house.
It almost fried his circuit. The lights in your building flashed a bit and you could have sworn he was glitching in the middle of that kiss.
After which, your relationship was VERY MUCH PUBLIC.
Vox posted about your musicals almost every day.
He’s definitely the type to go to your practices and post you with a caption like “My Angel of Music”, “My Romeo/Juliet”, or “My Christine Canigula/Jeremy Here”. Something in reference to the lead or most adored role of the production you’re currently directing.
He’s corny as fuck in private-
He’d definately cuddle to watch whatever new musical you two just co-produced.
He funds your shows and is kind of embarrassed to admit it, but he’d blow marvelous amounts of money on you if he could (he has to be smart about how he spends his money and the fact that he can’t just spoil you as much as he wants, destroys him).
He also hates to be caught accidentally humming along to your musicals. He claims to not care about those things at all (he knows the entirety of your repertoire by heart).

crush | logan howlett x female reader
Tumblr media
hi everyone! i wrote this for fun. it'll probably turn into a series of small chapters while i write my more hefty logan fic. i hope you guys enjoy!
warnings: reader's kinda horny i guess, sexy man, based on crush by ethel cain, 1.5k words (i wrote this in like an hour)
You’d seen him around town.
At the laundromat with the blinking fluorescent lights. At the dingy bar around the corner from the laundromat. At the gas station, filling up the tank of his red truck.
You never thought to say hi, never to engage with him in any way.
He created such a stir when he first arrived. No one moved to your town unless something was truly wrong with them. Most of the men had leering gazes and dangerous intentions, but not him. Never him. You were in his vicinity frequently, but never once did he attempt what many others had. All failures, of course.
You lived contently in your grandmother’s old home, moving there after her cancer took a turn for the worst a few months ago. When she passed away quickly after that, she left the house to you and you decided to keep it. It still smelled like cigarettes, the stench burned into the walls and carpet, but the smell reminded you of childhood trips to Kansas. Those trips were scorched to the back of your eyelids, forever being replayed. Everything was the same as when you were a child; the small Mexican restaurant, the old movie theater, the arcade that closed seven years ago.
 Now, you sat behind the counter at the small antique shop you spent most of your days in. It was quaint, filled to the brim with every kind of knick-knack you could think of. There were crates filled with records and CDs, most scratched or completely unplayable. There were pieces of furniture, dusty mirrors, moth-eaten upholstery, chipped paint jobs, and broken hinges. The bookshelves that lined the walls of the store were stacked with books. You’d taken a few home in the past, knowing that they wouldn’t be missed.
And the clothes. There were racks on racks of vintage clothes. Most were out of fashion (even for the time they were made) or damaged. Still, you liked to play dress-up every so often.
The job was boring and mundane, but it paid the bills. The family who owned the store didn’t seem to have time to keep up with the place, so you managed the inner-workings of it.
Today, you watched cars go by, wondering when would be the best time to cut your losses and close for the day. Some days you managed to get more than a few browsers, but today was not one of those days. You had one person come in around lunch, but they looked for about five minutes before heading out.
Your mind wandered as you watched people walk by the storefront.
You thought of him. The man you saw everywhere. The man who never spoke to you, not even to say, “Excuse me.”
The man that just walked through the front door.
Eyes widening, you sat up straighter and calmed your heartbeat that suddenly thundered in your ears. “Welcome in! Everything with a blue tag is sixty percent off today,” you said with a bright smile.
He simply looked over at you and then continued his perusal.
You deflated. Harsh.
As he walked around the store, you felt like a live-wire. Every creak of the floorboards sent your heart spinning in your chest. You hadn’t felt like this about a man since you still called men boys. Being in your late twenties, that meant a very long time.
You grabbed a box of donations from the back room and moved to the floor to start stocking items on the shelves. You rationalized your decision to suddenly start restocking items after having a full day to do so by telling yourself that if you looked busy, he might feel inclined to buy something. You could nearly feel your nose growing by the second at that thought.
Moving through the rows of shelves and assorted items was second nature to you at this point, knowing where everything went in this mess of a store. You conveniently moved to the side of a shelf that viewed his aisle through gaps in the many items strung about. As you placed a silver mirror on the shelf, your gaze moved to watch his face on the other side of the rack. He was stunning.
You hadn’t had much time to analyze him; it was only small glances here and there in the time he’d been around. Now, you took your time. He was looking at an old book, bound in red fabric. It looked as if it had seen the bottom of a sewer. Luckily, he seemed to be making a careful inspection of the text, giving you enough time to look him over.
He was beautiful in a rugged kind of way. He looked like he worked with his hands; they were large and rough, with calluses around the fingers. His knuckles were prominent with sharp edges. You wondered what he did for a living. Did he move here to get away from city life? Was he a runaway circus performer? You internally smacked yourself in the head for the stupid thought.
He’d probably make the circus look sexy, though.
He had a large figure hidden by a flannel and white t-shirt. His attire pointed to him being a worker of the land. A farmer, maybe. That would check out with the truck you'd seen him driving around in. Always covered in mud with logs of wood piled high in the back.
His hair was a rich brown and you wanted to dig your fingers into it. You wanted to feel his beard against your skin.
What the hell is wrong with me?
You don’t have sex for so long that your brain goes fuzzy at the idea of a stranger’s beard scratching your neck. God. Get a grip.
You straighten your back and continue restocking things. Play it cool.
Soon, you fell into the rhythm of it, nearly forgetting the other person in the room. You moved to the bookshelves, loading more books onto the already strained wood. People really needed to stop donating things to you and start actually buying things. You’d be out of business by next summer.
As soon as you realized you needed to go back to the stock room to grab another box, you heard a grunt behind you. You nearly jumped out of your skin. You dropped the box you were holding and faced the man. Your mystery man.
He was so close, you could smell him. He smelled like smoke and sweat. You felt yourself salivate.
You looked him in the eyes for the first time. “Do you need help?” You asked quietly, scared that he’d run off if you spoke too loud, like a wounded animal.
“How much for this?” He asked, keeping your gaze. His voice was smooth.
You looked down to his hands, which were holding the book he had been examining earlier. “It doesn’t have a price tag?”
He shook his head.
Now you felt like you were being held under a microscope. The way his eyes ran over your face made you go red; you hadn’t felt this flustered because of a man in a long time.
“Okay, I can check at the front,” you said, keeping your quiet tone.
He just grunted again and followed as you led him to the register. You had a book of all the prices for things so that you could properly mark them. If you didn’t have the vague feeling that you were going to explode at any moment, you’d know off the top of your head the price of that tiny book. It was about the size of his hand, making you bite the inside of your cheek.
You opened the book and searched for the page with book prices. When you found the page, you ran your finger down the list.
Small = $1.99
When you looked up at him, you jumped a little. He was looking at you with such intensity, you’d thought he was going to have an aneurysm. It made your cheeks flush again, but you cleared your throat and said, “It’s $1.99. With tax, it’ll be $2.30.”
He nodded, putting the book down on the counter as he reached for his wallet. You read the book title: Frankenstein. “I love Mary Shelley,” you said as you reached for a brown paper bag.
He looked at you, his expression not revealing anything.
For some reason, you decided to keep talking. “It’s such a perfect analysis of ‘how far is too far’ in science and experimentation. I loved reading it in high school, I think you’ll really enjoy it,” you said, not particularly needing a response.
He placed the exact change due on the counter and looked you in the eyes as he said, “Thank you.”
Your heart fluttered. “You’re welcome…” You trailed off, hoping to God that he’d tell you his name.
He thought about it for a moment. “It’s Logan.”
You smiled. “I’m glad you stopped by, Logan.” You introduced yourself. It would be nice to have another person to say ‘hi’ to on the street. And you imagined he was thinking the same thing.
His face didn’t jump into a smile, but it didn’t look as harsh as it did when he first walked in.
And so began your crush on the stoic man who moved to town.

"Whaddaya think makes 'em Swedish?"
Rain looks up from where he's hunched over his phone, finds Dew sitting on the counter with a baggie of Swedish Fish. He swings his feet and holds a gummy fish between two fingers, making it swim through the air. Rain can see how red his eyes are from here, and even though the air hangs heavy with with the scent of popcorn he can still smell the remnants of weed wafting from him.
"Dunno," Rain shrugs. He supposes he could look it up, but that would interrupt his valuable mindless scrolling time. There's only so much time between screenings in their dinky little theater, he has to take what he can get. "You should ask someone Swedish."
Dew hops off the counter, stretching both arms over his head. His uniform polo slides up, reveals a pale strip of skin above low-slung jeans, and Rain snaps a quick picture for future reference.
(He has a Thing for Dew's bony hips, so sue him.)
"You're no fun," Dew pouts, slouching over to Rain's side of the concession stand. He drapes himself over Rain's back, sighing heavily. The little baby hairs thay have escaped his bun tickle Rain's cheek, make his nose scrunch up.
"I'm tons of fun," he deadpans, holding up his phone and displaying an article about the mating habits of Atlantic salmon as though that proves something. Dew doesn't even glance at it, too busy snaking his arms around Rain's shoulders and nosing at his hair.
"You smell like coconuts," he giggles, woefully stoned. He sniffs at those dark curls until Rain starts to squirm, reaching back to poke him in the ribs.
"How high are you?" Rain chuckles, still tipping his head when Dew starts drifting towards his neck.
"This's what happens when you don't share with me," the blonde mumbles, chapped lips grazing Rain's throat. "I roll for two and have no self control."
Well, he's not wrong about that last part. Rain thinks back last week, when Dew had spent the night at his place. A quiet evening spent smoking and playing video games, until they were both too stoned to do anything but snuggle and watch TV. Rain had ordered them a pizza, grabbed it from the driver in a haze of smoke and set it on the couch with a quick announcement about needing to piss. He'd been gone for maybe ten minutes - most of which had been spent forgetting where he was while he washed his hands - and by the time he'd gotten back Dew had managed to scarf down six massive slices covered in pepperoni and pineapple all on his own.
"Don't I know it," Rain grumbles, reaching up to give the little guy an affectionate noogie. Dew nips at his jaw in retaliation, slinking around to Rain's front. Dew weasels his way into his lap, slinging his arms around Rain's neck with a smile. He leans in to lick at the spot he bit, and the way the ball of his tongue piercing glides over his skin makes Rain's eyelids flutter. He tosses his phone onto the counter in favor of holding the bony hips he loves so much.
"Y'know," Dew lilts, swaying in his lap, "we got some time before the next show." He scoots impossibly closer, until their chests meet and Dew can rub their noses together. Rain can feel his piercings through his shirt, and a little tingle runs through him. He slips one hand from Dew's hip to give his barely-there ass a quick squeeze, long fingers sneaking up the back of his shirt.
"We do," Rain nods, fingertips grazing the ultra soft peach fuzz at the base of Dew's spine. His eyes drift to Dew's mouth, wide and pink and curled at the corners in a mischievous little grin. "Wonder what we could do until then..."
Dew's smile gains a sensual edge, his eyelids drooping and the tip of his tongue poking out between crowded teeth. He slips his fingers into Rain's curls, blunt nails scratching at his scalp, and Rain shivers when Dew leans in close. He waits for a kiss that will undoubtedly taste of weed and raspberry flavoured candy.
Instead, Dew kisses his cheek and moves to whisper in his ear. His breath ghosts over Rain's skin, warm but shiver-inducing, and he makes his request.
Rain snorts.
"I am not fucking you with the popcorn butter, Dewdrop."

Full Set is too damn good you write it sooo well. like I actually NEED more matt stories from you 🙏
Small Town Dreaming- M. Sturniolo
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: neighbor!reader x bestfriend!Matt
classification: fluff, best friends to lovers (kinda)
warnings: use of y/n, slow build up, small town au
summary: There’s not much to do in this small town but fall in love.
Your small town has been boring for as long as you can remember. The town was so small you could probably run down every street in less than an hour. There was one movie theater that played reruns of movies no one cared about, a bowling alley with 4 bowling balls in total, a park with a wooden termite infested playground, and a library with books so old they had mold. Everyone either had a flock of chickens or a herd of sheep, spending their free time tending to the livestock.
One of your favorite pastimes was to sneak up onto the old water tower and just people watch, occasionally pulling out your sketchbook to draw the familiar faces that passed by. No one ever left this town, it always seemed to suck people right back in and keep them here forever. So many people have tried leaving, packing their bags and driving down the main dirt road to freedom. For some reason or another they always turned back though, throwing their dreams out the window on the way.
“One day I’m moving to LA with my brothers,” Matt sighs dreamily, the both of you laying on the trunk of his car as you watch the stars. Without dreams this small, boring town would crush everyone’s spirits. “That’s a good idea,” you say, squinting your eyes as you pretend to squish the stars between your fingers. They looked like fireflies dancing in the sky.
You had a lot of dreams too, most of them involving running away and never turning back, but none of your dreams were written in stone yet. For some reason you felt like you’d end up like many others, too involved in your daily life to ever do something big. You’ve seen it happen to a lot people, your mom included. She was full of dreams and aspirations, but as soon as she got married and started having children it just felt easier to stay.
“What about you?” Matt asks, turning his head to look at you. “What about me?” You say in a teasing tone, hopping off the hood of the car. You were never the type to sit still, plus you didn’t have a definite answer to Matt’s question yet. “What are your dreams?” he asks again, formulating the question in a way that was much easier to answer. It was simple, you wanted to leave, but you were too scared to say it out loud. You felt like if you vocalized it, it wouldn’t come true. Maybe you’d follow Matt and his brothers, you didn’t know yet, but you didn’t want to stay here for the rest of your life.
You take a while to respond so he interjects again jokingly, “or are you staying here forever?” The idea of staying here forever was actually terrifying, but you’re only a junior in high school so it’s easy to push the thought to the back of your mind. “I am NOT staying here forever,” you reply, shivering at the idea of this town becoming your finally destination. “I won’t end up like my mom,” you whispered, shaking your head as you looked at the ground. Matt stays silent as he hops off the hood of the car, walking over to you and hugging you. “It’s okay. You can just come with me and my brothers,” he whispers against your hair as he rubs comforting circles into your back.
The sentiment was nice and it made you smile. “That could be fun,” you murmured, dreaming about a life that seemed so far away.
You’re 21 years old now and that conversation feels like a lifetime ago. You’re currently in the kitchen helping your mom prepare lunch for your dad and brothers. “Make sure you don’t cut the tomatoes too thick,” she instructs as she expertly cuts onions beside you. Over the years she managed to refine her kitchen skills, the onions having no affect on her whatsoever. You, on the other hand, are wiping away the involuntary tears with the back of your hand.
“I know how to cut tomatoes,” you reply, squinting so you can see through the tears. Her eyes are trained on you as she piles the onions into the pan. They sizzle loudly, steam rising from the hot pan. Sometimes you wonder why you even bothered helping her if she was going to be so bossy. “Then why are they so thick?” She retorts, grabbing one of the tomato slices from your cutting board and wiggling it around in her fingers. You laugh as you watch the tomato dance back in forth, “fine you do it then.”
She doesn’t second guess it, instead she grabs the knife from you and swiftly cuts the rest of the tomatoes. She’s done before you can even look away. You walk over to the sink to wash your hands before replying, “no one is gonna die from a thick tomato slice.” She sends you a glare as she grabs the cutting board and slides the tomatoes into the pan. “No, but you need to know how to do this stuff for when you get married. No one is gonna wanna marry a girl who can’t cook,” she responds with a tsk, mixing the vegetables in the pan so they become sautéed.
You don’t say anything, you just watch as she tastes a now translucent onion, checking the flavor. “Needs some garlic,” she mumbles, moving towards the cupboard to grab the seasoning. Talking about marriage and relationships with your mom was always awkward because she always found a way to push your buttons. “Speaking of marriage,” she says again, turning the stove off. Now she’s completely facing you, cleaning her hands on a kitchen towel as she continues, “what ever happened to that Matt boy you always used to hang out with?”
You groaned, she brought Matt up at least once a month. “I haven’t talked to Matt since high school, mom,” you reply, rolling your eyes at her inability to remember details you repeatedly told her. She nods her head almost like it’s the first time she’s hearing this as she whispers, “that’s a shame.” The last thing you want to talk about is an old friend who actually managed to leave this town behind, so you decide to wash the dishes in the sink to avoid any further conversation. Hopefully the sound of the running water would drown out your mom’s voice.
You let the hot water run over your hands as you reminisce over all your memories with Matt. There was homecoming, football games, prom night, nights at the bowling alley, sneaking into the theater for popcorn, and of course stargazing. A small smile adorns your face at the memories, you cherished those moments despite them feeling like forever ago.
“He would’ve been a good husband,” your mom says casually, dumping any remaining dirty dishes in the sink before walking out of the kitchen and into the living room.
She was right, he would’ve made a perfect husband.
“I’ll be back!” You call out to your mom as you tug your shoes on and grab your coat from the couch. November was always chilly, especially in a town like yours where there were no large buildings to block the wind. That wouldn’t stop you from sneaking up onto the old tower, instead it actually excited you. The rush of being so high up was the most exhilarating thing this town had to offer.
“Where are you going?” She calls back, peering her head into the living room from the kitchen. “I’m just gonna go hang out with a friend,” you comment, not wanting to admit your true destination. She always scolded you when you told her you were going to the water tower, claiming it was dangerous and reckless. “You better not be climbing that old tower,” she gave you a stern look before returning to her cooking.
You roll your eyes, grabbing your bag and slinging it over your shoulder. If you weren’t allowed to do one dangerous and reckless thing, you’d go absolutely insane in this town. “Bye,” you finally say, dismissing yourself in a sing song tone as you walk out the front door.
The walk is short, the only hard part of your journey being the climb up the ladder. It creaks with every step, the rusty metal leaving your hands orange. Finally you arrive at the top, plopping your bag on the metal floor. You carefully take a seat, making yourself comfortable enough to begin people watching. Your legs swing back and forth as you look toward the ground, you were really high up.
People pass by, most of them by foot and you rest against the metal railing as you watch them. All these people were stuck doing mundane things like carrying their groceries home or walking to a friend’s house. So many familiar faces spark your creativity causing you to pull your sketchbook from your bag to begin drawing.
You see your brothers in the distance playing soccer on an old dirt road and you decide they’ll make the perfect warm-up sketch. So, you work diligently to replicate the figures in the distance, trying to capture their motions. The sketch is coming out good, but your pencil suddenly snaps, interrupting the flow you’d created. “Stupid cheap pencil,” you mumble to yourself, resting it in the crack of the sketch book that lays on your lap. You dig through your bag in search of a sharpener, finding it tucked between an old gum wrapper and a candy bar.
Just as you’re about to turn back to your sketchbook, the wind aggressively blows it off your lap. “No, no, no,” you yelp, trying to catch the book before it can slip away. One arm grabs a hold of the railing as the other reaches for the book that’s too far gone. You groan in annoyance, shoving the sharpener back into your bag and getting up slowly so you can make your way down and get your book.
“Ow! What the fuck?” someone exclaims from below, your book hitting them right on the head. ‘Great,’ you think, quickly slinging your bag over your shoulder and climbing down the stairs. Of course your book managed to hit one of the 200 people who populated this town. “I’m so sorry. I was drawing and then the stupid wind-“ you begin to apologize, climbing down the ladder as quickly as possible. You’re interrupted though, “Y/n?!” Everyone in your town knew everyone, who the hell was actually confused to see you?
“Yeah?” you reply, hopping off the ladder and turning towards the voice. Immediately your eyes go wide at the person in front of you. After 3 years of not seeing him, Matt stood right in front of you holding your sketchbook. He looked so much older than the last time you’d seen him. Small stubble scattered across his jaw, his arms adorned with tattoos, and he held a much more modernized look. “Matt?!” you ask in shock, rushing towards him excitedly. Seeing him after so long felt like a breath of fresh air.
“Oh my God! You look so different!” He exclaims, he’s equally as excited to see you. When you both were in high school you were inseparable. Sometimes you’d let your mind wander and dream about a life where the two of you were married, but that was then and this is now. “That’s what 3 years will do,” you chuckled, taking your sketchbook from him and putting it in your back. “Has it really been that long?” he asks, his eyes examining everything about you.
Since the last time he saw you, you’ve grown a little taller and your hair is much longer. You’ve got a woman-like essence about you that you didn’t have before, he’s sure that every guy in town is fighting for a chance with you. Last time he checked, you were the only girl worth looking at, let alone fighting for.
“Yes, dude! Where have you been?” you punch his arm playfully, earning a slight push from Matt. It felt like he never left, you two picked up exactly where you left off. “Chris, Nick, and I have been in L.A,” he responds, the two of you beginning to subconsciously walk away from the water tower. A gust of wind blows past you two causing you to pull your coat tightly around you.
“Aw, Chris and Nick! I haven’t seen them in so long,” you reply longingly, reminiscing briefly on all your memories with the other two. “Yeah we’re here visiting our parents for Thanksgiving. We should all hang out one day,” he says, the word ‘visiting’ leaving a bad taste in your mouth. It was a gentle reminder that they actually escaped this place and only came back as a favor to their parents while you were stuck here indefinitely.
“Yeah that could be fun,” you say halfheartedly. “Are you visiting too?” he asks, genuine curiosity leading him to push further into your personal life. You gulp, becoming scared to admit the truth to Matt. “Ugh no, not really,” you respond vaguely. “Oh, are you leaving soon?” he asks again, unable to stop himself from prying. He can’t help it, he hasn’t seen you in a long time and he’s curious. The two of you are now outside your house, the walk coming as second nature from all your walks home from school. “I never left,” you admit, an awkward cough following the sad statement.
Matt doesn’t know what to say, he finds it hard to believe that a girl like you never found her way out of this place. The only reason beautiful girls like you got stuck in this town was because of marriage, but Matt shook the thought from his head.
“It’s getting cold,” you say as you look back towards your house, breaking the silence that settled between you two. As excited as you were to see Matt, you needed to escape this awkward situation immediately. The wind was howling dramatically, shaking the surrounding trees and picking up the dirt from the roads. “Oh. Um, yeah. I’ll let you go. We’ll catch up another time, yeah?” he says sheepishly, feeling bad for embarrassing you. You hum in response, waving slightly at him before turning on your heel and hurriedly making your way inside.
“Was that Matt?” your mom asks enthusiastically as soon as you walk inside, leaning against the couch so she can get a better look out the window. Had she been watching the whole time? “Invite him inside!” she exclaims, not even giving you time to answer her previous question. “No, mom! He’s busy!” you lie, coming up with an excuse on the spot and watching from the window as Matt walks home.
“That boy is NOT busy. Marylou told me her boys were visiting,” she replies, rolling her eyes at your lame excuse of a lie. If she knew the triplets were in town, why did she ask if that was Matt? She clearly wanted to catch you flustered and annoyed. “Well he doesn’t want to come in,” you retort, shrugging your coat off and kicking your shoes off.
“You are never getting married, are you?” she asks sarcastically, giving you a blank look before disappearing into the kitchen.
Matt was home in a good 15 minutes, walking in to his house to find his brothers on the couch awaiting his arrival. “Did you bring it?” Chris asked, leaning against the backrest of the couch to look at Matt. Matt shrugs off his coat and kicks his shoes off, wondering what the hell Chris is on about. “Did I bring what?” Matt asks in confusion, walking over to the couch and sitting beside Chris.
Chris was now squished in between his two brothers, all three of them watching a random movie to pass the time. They had to resort to the old VCR their mom had because their phones didn’t get any service out in the country. Neither of them wanted to go through the hassle or rewinding the movies, so they were currently halfway through one without any context. It was hard to readjust to a slow paced lifestyle after being in L.A for so long and they couldn’t find anything to do. So, they sent Matt out in search of fireworks, but of course he got distracted along the way and came back empty handed.
“The fireworks, dumbass,” Nick chimes in, facepalming at Matt’s failure to complete the easiest task ever. “Oh, yeah, no. I couldn’t find any,” he lied, still thinking about his encounter with you. When your sketchbook fell on him, he flipped through a few pages and recognized so many of the people in the drawings. Some of the earlier pages were even filled with drawings of him and his brothers.
“Bullshit! We saw them yesterday at the corner store!” Chris shouts, getting up from the couch to go find the fireworks himself. “If I find even ONE firework, I’m beating your ass,” Chris says, pointing a menacing finger at Matt before slipping his shoes on and walking out the door, coat in hand. “Did you go to the right store?” Nick asks, watching mindlessly as the characters on screen converse. He has no idea what the plot of this movie even is.
“Well I tried, but I sort of got distracted,” Matt admits, shifting uncomfortable in the couch. He grabbed a pillow from beside him, hugging it closely to him. “How could you possibly get distracted? The store is 5 minutes from here!” Nick exclaims, looking suspiciously at his brother. Nick knew Matt was hiding something.
“I ran into an old friend,” Matt shrugged, sinking further into the couch and holding the pillow even closer to him. He knew that if he admitted to running into you, he’d never hear the end of it. He’d be bombarded with questions about you, how you’re doing, why he didn’t invite you over. Nick is looking at Matt expectantly, wanting him to spill the details on which ‘old friend’ he ran into, but Matt’s gaze is focused on the tv in front of him.
“Matt!” Nick says dramatically, pushing his brother by the shoulder to grab his attention. “Which friend?!” He finally asks once he’s successfully grabbed Matt’s attention. Matt debates whether or not he should just admit he ran into you, but before he can say anything he’s interrupted by Chris arriving from the store.
Throughout this entire conversation, Chris had managed to successfully find the fireworks and even ran into you on his way back home. You were reluctantly running an errand for your mom, but of course got distracted by Chris. He asked about you, inquiring about your personal life just like Matt had, and then insisted you come over. He said something along the lines of, “Nick and Matt would love to see you! Matt especially.” Chris was completely unaware of your encounter with Matt earlier that day, so in his mind this would be your first time seeing each other after years. So, as to not seem rude, you abandoned your errand and followed Chris to his house. He was carrying so many fireworks that he dropped a few along the way, but luckily you were there to pick them up.
“Guess who I brought?” Chris says dramatically in a sing-song tone, dropping all the fireworks at the front entrance. Nick and Matt look towards the front door, Matt’s mouth going agape slightly at the sight of you and Nick immediately jumping up from the couch. “Y/n?!” Nick exclaims, running over to you excitedly and embracing you in a hug. This was very uncommon for Nick, seeing as he wasn’t usually a hugger, but he hadn’t seen you in so long that he made an exception. “Hi Nick,” you greet awkwardly as he smothers you in his arms, hands still full of fireworks.
“Oh my God, girl. Where have you been? I haven’t seen you in so long,” Nick let’s go of you, holding you by your arms so he can get a good look at you. He noticed all the same things as Matt and Chris, you looked like a woman. “Here,” you admit with a shrug, not embarrassed to admit it anymore. You’ve already gone through this round of questioning twice at this point with both Matt and Chris. “Oh,” he mumbles awkwardly, offering you an equally as awkward smile.
Matt was still watching in shock, what a coincidence that he ran into you earlier today and now you’re in his house. Well, in retrospect, the town is so small that you probably would’ve ended up here anyway. “How has life here been?” Nick asks again doing air quotes around ‘here’ before taking the fireworks from you and dumping them where Chris had dumped the rest. “It’s.. been” you laugh, rocking back and forth on your feet awkwardly.
Nick nods, deciding he’s had enough awkwardness for one day. “Wanna pop some fireworks with us?” he asks, hoping you’ll just say yes and break the awkward tension. You look between him and Matt, wondering if this was the right decision. Matt’s smiling at you, he wants you to say yes so bad. “Sure, why not,” you reply with a shrug, deciding this will be the most fun you’ve had in a while.
Chris appears from the kitchen, lighter in hand. He’s pretending to use it as flame thrower, waving it from side to side dramatically. “Get ready to burn!” He says evily, earning a laugh from the rest of you.
The fireworks left long sparks of color in the sky, the booming sound resonating throughout the entire town. It’s dark now and the wind has calmed down considerably, making it the perfect time for childish shenanigans. You and Matt were sat on a pair of lawn chairs, watching as Nick and Chris lit up firework after firework. They would light one, place it carefully on the ground, and then scurry away like excited children.
Matt is staring at the sky, mesmerized at the colorful sparks that flew by. The stars were faint, the light and smoke from the fireworks dulling their luminosity. You also watched the colorful explosions, but you held your fingers out in front of you to squish the stars. You created a game out of it, trying to squish the stars before the colorful sparks reached them.
Matt noticed this and chuckled slightly, reminiscing on the old habit you never seemed to let go. Upon hearing his laughter, you turn your attention to him quickly in confusion. “What?” you ask with a small pout. He smiles sincerely at you, examining your beautiful face as the colorful light from above decorated your face. The strobing lights seemed to only further accentuate your features.
In this moment Matt felt 18 again. He felt like he was seeing you for the first time and realizing he had a crush on you. “Nothing, you just always used to do that,” he replies sheepishly, pointing towards your hands briefly. It was a habit you never realized you had, you mostly did it to pass the time. You don’t say anything, but the silence isn’t awkward. You just smile at Matt before returning to your make-shift game, occupying your mind the only way you knew how.
You felt so comfortable right now. It felt like everything was the way it was supposed to be. It felt like old times, just you and your friends enjoying each other’s company. With each star you squish, you remember all your late nights under the stars with Matt. All the meaningful conversations and deep secrets you two exchanged, both of you becoming closer and closer each time. You always thought you’d end up following them and leaving this town, but life had other plans for you. Sometimes you even wondered what would’ve happened if you had confessed your feeling for Matt, would you two be married by now? It feels so wrong to think about, because you know that if you would’ve confessed he would’ve stayed and never fulfilled any of his dreams. He, like you, would’ve been stuck here.
Matt, on the other hand, can’t stop himself from smiling as he takes in more of your features. You looked so different, yet exactly the same. He still doesn’t understand why such a beautiful girl like you would stay in such a boring place like this. Of course he wondered if you were married, it was a common custom in your town for girls to get married young. Plus there was no a shortage of men waiting for the right moment to ask you on a date. Matt remembers it all too well, you’d always reject potential suitors in favor of spending time with him. He never understood why, but he always found himself feeling relieved when you did that. Maybe he internally wished you two would’ve started dating, but he never gained the courage to confess. He shook the thought of you being married out of his head, trying to focus on all the positive things tonight has to offer instead.
“Matt! Y/n! These are the last ones, come light one!” Chris calls out, waving the remaining fireworks in front of him, enticing you two to join in on the fun. The two of you are pulled from your thoughts, looking at Chris with smiles. Matt jumps up from his seat, jogging towards Chris and grabbing ahold of one of the fireworks. You get up a lot slower, taking in the moment in front of you. You really missed this.
“Girl! Hurry!” Nick rushes you, becoming impatient with your leisurely pace. You smile again, picking up the pace and grabbing a firework. “Ready?!” Chris asks excitedly, lighting everyone’s firework. You nod, excitement and adrenaline filling your body. As soon as he lights the fuse, you each place the fireworks carefully on the ground and run away in the opposite direction.
Lighting the fireworks was so much more exhilarating than just watching, your heart pumping rapidly as you try catching your breath. You’re standing next to Matt who wraps his arm around your shoulders and pulls you into his side, both of you looking up to watch the colorful explosion in the sky.
You don’t see the triplets again until a few days later, too busy helping your dad with the yard work to go anywhere. “Why can’t one of them help you?” You groan, looking at your brothers playing soccer in the field across the street. You always got stuck doing chores with your mom or dad while they got to have fun. “Can’t trust those guys to remember their own names, let alone help me,” your dad replies with a grunt, picking up two heavy buckets of water. You do the same, following behind him as he walks towards the pig enclosure.
It was so sunny today that you felt like you were melting. You were sweating underneath your overalls and the boots you were wearing were starting to rub against your ankles. “Fill that tank over there,” your dad instructs with a tilt of his chin, pointing in the direction he wanted you to go. You missed the tank as you tried pouring the water, some of it falling on the ground and creating mud. Your boots sank into the mud slightly causing you to groan in annoyance again. The pigs were oinking and squealing, almost like they were taunting you.
“Stupid fucking mud. Stupid dumbass pigs,” you grumbled, picking the other bucket up and dumping its remnants into the tank. “Language,” your dad warns sternly, only causing you to roll your eyes. He’s definitely said worse than fuck. You wipe the sweat from your forehead, adjusting your overalls in the process. “Are we almost done? It’s so hot,” you ask your dad, hoping he’ll have mercy on you and let you go inside. He doesn’t. “We still gotta shovel along the back to build that fence your mom asked for,” he informs you with no intention of letting you go early. You groan again, of course your mom wanted a fence. All you could do was prepare yourself for the long work day ahead.
-
Your arms feel like jelly, each pile of dirt you shovel sending you further into exhaustion. The sun was not letting up either, beaming brightly on the two of you. Your overalls were covered in dirt and your sweat mixed with the debris creating a gross mess all over your face and arms.
“You guys almost done?” Your mom asks as she walks over to you two. She’s holding a glass of water in each hand, working carefully not to spill any of it. The two of you stop digging and you’re silently thanking God for the small break. “We still have about 6 feet left that way and another 3 left this way,” your dad says, grabbing a glass of water and taking a few sips. Of course your side was missing the 6 feet, you were a much slower digger than your dad. You down the whole drink in one go, finally quenching your thirst after a hard days work.
“Well do you guys think you could wrap it up? We’ve got a visitor,” she says casually, taking the glasses back as she makes her way inside again. She was not going to stand in the hot sun for a second longer than necessary. ‘Visitor?!?’ you think, as you look down at your dirty overalls and muddy boots. If that’s how dirty your clothes were, you couldn’t even begin to imagine how dirty you were. “We’ll finish up tomorrow after breakfast, shouldn’t take us more than an hour,” your dad says, slapping your back as he follows behind your mom.
You jog behind him, trying to catch a glimpse of the visitors through the window. You can’t see anyone yet, so you just decide it’s probably one of your mom’s friends. If they saw you this messy it wouldn’t even matter. Both of you make your way inside, stomping the mud off on the grass before walking in.
“Y/n! Say hello to your friend, don’t be rude,” your mom immediately says once you walk in, referring to people waiting in the living room. Your mom considered everyone your friend, so you still weren’t too worried. “I’m going,” you call back, slowly walking over to the living room just in case it was someone you didn’t really know. If it was someone you didn’t know, you’d be able to excuse yourself with the excuse that you’re dirty or tired.
“Hi,” you greet plainly, peeking your head into the living room and waving at the unexpected company. “Hi,” Matt greets awkwardly, taking in your dirty appearance. You freeze at the sight of him, why didn’t your mom mention HE was the visitor? That was literally one of, if not the, most important detail of this story. “Excuse her, she’s been helping me out in the yard,” your dad chimes in, wiping his hands on an old kitchen towel before reaching a hand out towards Matt. “It’s nice to see you again, son,” your dad says, taking Matt’s hand into a firm handshake.
“It’s nice to see you too, sir,” Matt responds, getting up from the couch to properly greet your dad. He felt like he was your boyfriend, meeting your disapproving father for the first time. Your dad nods and exits the room, not interested in conversation. All he wanted was a cold shower and honestly that’s all you wanted too.
“I can come back another time?” Matt suggests, realizing he came unannounced and seemingly at a bad time “Nonsense! Y/n’s got time to chat, don’t you sweetheart?” Your mom interjects, listening to the whole interaction from the kitchen. She was whipping up a snack for you two in hopes that Matt would stay longer. She really liked Matt.
“Uh yeah, I got time,” you answered, too embarrassed to admit that you wanted him to leave so you could shower. “I can wait. If you wanna go get changed?” he says, sitting back down on the couch. You want to get on your knees and praise this man for being so considerate, but instead you give him a thumbs up and run to shower and change.
After freshening up you return to the living room where Matt is now talking with your mom. She made him a grilled cheese and cut up some strawberries for him, she even sprinkled sugar on them to make them extra sweet. They’re deep in conversation so you wait by the door to listen. “So, Matt, when are you planning to ask my daughter out?” your mom asks casually, unaware of the weight of her words. This sentence alone almost made you enter the room dancing just to have an excuse to shut her up.
“I’m sorry?” he asks, gulping nervously. “You heard me,” she replies, plopping a strawberry in her mouth and looking at him expectantly. “Oh- I- I thought y/n was married?” He says, unsure of what he’s even saying. Matt feels so awkward, he just takes another bite of the greasy cheese toast on his plate to give him an excuse not to talk.
When your mom hears this she laughs loudly, clearly amused with Matt’s assumption, “I wish!” Matt’s caught a little off guard by this comment, were you not married? Or at least spoken for? You wanted to slap your hand over your mom’s mouth before she said anything too embarrassing, but you decide to see where this conversation is going. You lean against the wall, getting comfortable for the eavesdropping you were about to do.
“I’ve been trying to get that girl to date, but no luck,” your mom continues, putting a smile on Matt’s face. He was both happy and relieved to hear that you weren’t taken. “She used to have a little crush on you in high school. And I’ve seen the way you look at her,” your mom won’t stop talking, she just keeps spilling your secrets. This is the first time Matt’s hearing of this, had you really liked him this whole time?
You decide you’ve heard enough, en entering the room with an awkward cough. “Thanks mom,” you say sarcastically, offering her a tight lipped smile. You look at Matt, trying to read his expression while also signaling to him that you want to leave. He gets the hint, dismissing himself politely from your mom. As the two of you are walking out you send a glare towards your mom and she returns it with a toothy smile and a wink.
“Sorry about that,” you chuckle awkwardly, shutting the door behind you. “No, I like your mom,” he replies, beginning to walk down the dirt road. “I know, but she can be a lot,” you apologize, becoming worried that she over shared and maybe scared Matt. “I can handle a lot,” he shrugs, the two of you now walking towards the old water tower. You smile at him, grateful that he’s not making it awkward. Your mom just confessed your crush to him like an old school girl and here he was being a gentleman about it.
When you two arrive to the water tower he signals for you to climb up first, holding your back securely until you’re high enough, then he follows behind you. You arrive at the top, sitting down carefully and patting the spot next to you so Matt will join. He gladly sits next to you, looking over the vast land in front of you. Miles and miles of green grass, crop fields, and only a few buildings and houses scattered in between.
The both of you talk about everything you’ve missed out on for the past 3 years, his stories being about his adventures in L.A and yours being about your life here. “I haven’t been up here in a long time,” he whispers in awe, taking in the scene in front of him as the sun begins to set. He had to admit that this was a beautiful town, despite it being so boring. “Well, you haven’t been here for a long time,” you reply, leaning against the metal railing as you join him in admiring the view.
“I was really surprised to see you that day. I thought I’d never see you again,” Matt says. After he and his brothers left they had zero contact with you and it always felt like a part of him was missing. “Yeah, it was nice catching up with you guys,” you reply, feeling like these past few days were the best you’ve had in a while. When they leave, you’ll just go back to your normal mundane life.
He can sense the sadness in your tone, feeling bad for leaving you here. “I’m glad you got out,” you admitted, resting your face on the arm that laid on the railing so you could look at Matt. “This town kills everyone’s dreams, I’m glad it didn’t kill yours,” you continued, offering Matt a small, genuine smile. If he was honest, he’d be happy staying here forever as long as it was with you.
“I don’t know. There’s one dream of mine that didn’t come true when I left,” he trails off, watching the as the sun disappears along the horizon. The sky goes from orange to purple as Matt feels the sudden urge to tell you something he’s been holding onto for a long time. “I doubt that,” you chuckle, looking up slightly to see the stars slowly come into view.
He laughs too, unsure if he should be admitting any of this to you right now. “I used to have a big crush on you too,” he admits quietly and casually, looking up at the stars too. Your neck almost snaps off as you turn to look at him, he notices this and laughs again. “It was back in high school… Getting a date with you, even just a kiss, was one of my biggest dreams,” he admits, remembering all those nights when he almost told you. “When your mom mentioned you used to have a crush on me it made me think of how different our lives would’ve been. If we ever acted on it, you know?” he continues, looking at you now.
You had a small, sad smile on your face because you weren’t sure if there was still a possibility at a future with Matt, but you were willing to try. “I mean, we can make the dream come true. If that’s okay?” you ask, leaning into him slowly.
“That could be fun,” he whispers, quoting what you told him that one night under the stars. He leans in and captures your lips in his, his last dream finally coming true.

Hello there! I know that you might be busy right now but I wanted to let you know an idea that I have, greatly inspired by your post: spanish reader who gets homesick but instead of getting depressed by it starts to do things they used to do back on their world. Dancing to their traditional dances while singing their accompanying songs, teaching the children the games they used to play when they were younger and also telling folktales to everyone who is interested in listening to. If you decide to do this idea and want to incorporate things from Costa Rica, please let me know and I'll help you with anything you need (◍•ᴗ•◍)✧*。

(Content under cut)
HELLO YES SORRY IT TOOK ME SO DAMN LONG TO GET TO THIS!! 😭 /gen
I went to Costa Rica back in highschool in 2018? I think, and when I tell you I FELL IN LOVEEEE <3333
Costa Rica is a beautiful country and everyone was really nice, vibes were immaculate 🤌 ✨
Sun: Costa Rican Reader! (you/they/them)
Stars: Sumeru cast
Comets & Meteors: Content Warnings: None known & Trigger Warnings: alcohol usage/drinking game.
Orbit: Headcanons-ish
when u first crash landed in Teyvat, people luckily recognized you from when u were a player!
and u took in whatever culture and traditions everyone was so excited to show you as they were kind enough to give u clothes/food/shelter etc.
butttt… it did get overwhelming after a few months, and u got homesick more and more often :(
after all there wasn’t really an equivalent country to Costa Rica, and you couldn’t just take a plane back home, you were stuck here for… however long it takes someone to leave a video game universe??
You decided to actually do smth abt the crippling depression and “outsider” feelings instead of just rotting away, and went to Sumeru to get closer to the greenery of your home,
it made you feel a little better, but it could be the best, so u decide to lowkey force everyone in Sumeru to convert to Costa Rican LMAO
so ofc u did the most logical thing to convert ppl to a culture, the food!
u helped fund a small restaurant full of classic Costa Rican foods (coughandsoyoucaneatitwheneveryouwantcough)
(u still have the insane mora leftover from what u had in game so ur basically one of the richest ppl in Teyvat ngl 💀)
u recreated just the basic gallo pinto/casado with what was available (some beans from Natlan and rice from Inazuma/Liyue, the Ajilenakh nut from Sumeru acc kinda acts like plantains :0 and local fish/greens for salad)
Needless to say Sumeru is fascinated by the new cuisine and esp since its not a secret that you’ve funded it/made the menu from your homeworld
Alhaitham orders the casado most of the time bc he “admires the exact proportions, its all the nutrients you need, perfectly balanced” NERDDD
Tighnari likes barbudos bc there's not a lot of egg dishes in Sumeru but there are a lot of greens, so he “likes the familiar in unique combinations!”
unsurprisingly, Cyno likes Chancelta bc he can pick it up, eat it quickly, and go on with his patrol
Collei, Kaveh (and secretly Dehya lol) really like being able to munch and snack on sugar cane, (and the plantain imitation desserts!)
(u found sugarcane deep in sumeru forests, it was like on ur world, but sweet flowers sprouted out of the stalks too!)
You decide the next phase was to introduce dances and other fun stuff!!
Nilou was literally shaking with excitement to learn the traditional dances <3 (and also getting ur permission to add fun twists or Sumeru elements to them)
the kids that like to hang around and watch the troupe practice (and join) absolutely got obsessed with swing criollo, it was so cute to watch them all pair up and kinda trip over their own feet trying the footwork out
(u may or may not have teared up bc the band learned how to play a Spanish song for u guys to dance to, just for you)
teaching the theater troupes musicians how to adapt upbeat songs like Caballito Nicoyano or Ticas Lindas
omg getting Nilou Kaveh Faruzan Cyno Dehya (and Dunyazard!) to do the calipso limonense always cheers you up, (which is why they are so eager to do it when ur feeling homesick ❤️‍🩹)
Kaveh steps on too many people’s toes, Dehya gets dizzy from the spins/turns easily, Faruzan keeps spinning for too long, Nilou and Dunyazard are actually secretly latina bc they're so good at it (did they outdo you?? no, no they couldn't possibly-)
and Cyno just really likes the little dance line everyone makes lol
speaking of the General Mahamatra
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD
u CANNOT teach Cyno a new game from your home country, and expect him to NOT be the most competitive mf in Teyvat abt it
that's actually how u spread any games from back home, Cyno just does all the work for you and challenges ppl to things like jackses and no one knows what it is
which he then proceeds to strong arm them into learning and beat their asses at it
(yes Cyno wins against you a lot, sorry lmao)
You definitely had a drinking game centered around it one time and the consequences changed with each person who lost
like Cyno had to learn how to cook tamales that were edible, and more importantly..
Alhaitham had to at least attempt the swing criollo lol
(was it unfairly attractive? maybe. was watching Nilou, who was teaching him, and Alhaitham both do swing criollo 2x as attractive?? that's just for u and the Sumeru vision users to know)
SPEAKING OF ALHAITHAM
absolutely hilarious, yet also impressive?? how quickly he picked up ur slang
smug bastard picked it up based off sheer context/vibes too, u didn't even explain it to him, just u trying to go sit down in ur Costa Rican restaurant and he pulls u back before someone mows u down saying “hey, suave un toque-”
YOUR NECK FUCKING CRACKING BC U WHIPPED AROUND TO LOOK AT HIM SO FAST LMAOOO
(ngl u scared the fuck out of the poor scholar before he got all smug abt knowing slang)
accidentally spread this knowledge to other vision users bc he got in the habit of casually using it, tbh more often when ur not around lol (Alhaitham being caught having habits bc he's fond of other ppl?? never)
his favorite is “qué chante…😒 ” obv lol
so now the forest rangers use stuff like pura vida and tuanis sending each other off on patrols! Collei so cutely excited to explain to other Sumeru ppl or tourists where the words come from and what they mean, spreading ur Costa Rica agenda very well 👌
and the mahamatra like to use “Jale pa’la choza” when coming back from the desert to Sumeru city homebase! :)
ALSO bonus:
u absolutely got leyendas into the bedtime warning/ghost stories of the entirety of Sumeru children lmao
u start spooking kids like Dori (Nahida finds them fascinating)
and after awhile u notice Cyno and Dehya mentioning watching out at night for La Llorona or los cadejos 💀??
like you've genuinely made them paranoid, bc they wanna be sweethearts and protect you from them, like even if they don't believe they exist, they're worried you do and are trying to make u feel better lol <3
an iced coffee? for me?? :O
Blessed be Costa Rica, such a lovely country when I went, and as soon as I got off the plane coming back the first thing I did was make a Costa Rican meal the best I could
like got my mom to prep from dry black beans and rice etc. as fresh as we could get (nowhere near costa rica level btw) and made fresh guac and fried plantain chips and salmon I think? literally cooked the first night back bc I knew I missed the food already/knew id get sick
and I was RIGHT, that food I made was fine, but any other American food so bad I got nauseous
I literally got sick COMING BACK TO THE U.S like 😨???!!! I knew it was bad but not THAT bad lmao
and the first meal I had after that was still a homecooked meal, like my mom made it💀
love the coffee from there too, we even ordered coffee from the farm we visited when I got back to US it was so good (10x better than American obv)
THANK YOU BTW GOLDEN!! FOR BEING SO PATIENT AND LOVELY TELLING ME ALL ABT COSTA RICA <3333
I hope this did some amount of justice to ur beautiful home! :)
Safe Travels Golden Child,

Macaque ♡ Private Play
I can't help but imagine Macaque using his Shadow Play skills to get money- now imagine the reader, his lovely spouse, being a regular of his shows and boom :D
Pre-Shadow Play episode btw cuz he do kinda be needing that lamp still
The pain of having to write this level of wholesome fluff when you've never been in an actual romantic relationship yourself- So I had a lot more fun telling the tale at the end and making it all more dramatic- omegalul
Tumblr media
♡ ~ Fluff ~ ♡
It was yet another night at the theater, and a certain shadow monkey was doing his usual routine of retelling tales that he knew of from his own perspective and memories. Nothing out of the ordinary happened of course. He didn't get many people to see his performance, as usual, due to his plays' times and because of people not usually being interested in the concept of shadow plays as they preferred movies.
Such a shame, really, they were missing out on a great show! At least that's what you thought everytime you would see only a portion of the audience seats having been filled. Your husband did such an amazing show and you would be awestruck each and every time at the visuals he was able to create. Not to mention, his soothing voice was a nice bonus no matter which tale he told. He even used his powers to spice up your private wedding a few years back, using his shadows to calm you down from your nervous high, as well as putting on a shadow play for the few guests you had.
Once the play you were currently watching was over, you and the other people in the audience clapped, delighted at the performance. Some even stood up while the demon man on the stage bowed at the applause.
It didn't take long for the last people to leave the room while you simply sat in your reserved VIP seat as usual. And it didn't take long for your shadow to become a portal for the hooded monkey either as he emerged from it, wrapping his arms around you from behind.
"Hey there, sugarplum, how was work?", he said while nuzzling the crook of your neck. He was still in his human disguise, so unfortunately you were unable to appreciate his fluffy fur. But that didn't make you appreciate him any less as you leaned back into his hold.
You actually showed him your workplace before, which is a rather small thrift shop. Macaque needed some human clothing because the red and black cloak he's using during his plays would not suffice in certain areas of the city. Him in a hooded cloak, being all dark and mysterious, would most certainly garner unwanted attention from demons and humans alike. That's when you showed him some stylization options. Everything you showed him was extremely casual and he loved it.
"It was alright. Not much happened today, besides one customer who didn't understand how a warranty works", you muttered. The monkey let out a low chuckle as you could feel his chest's vibration on your back, leaning further into you. "Anyway, once you're free we can go take a stroll. There's this new 24-hour shop we haven't been to yet." Finally, you decided to turn a bit to give him a quick peck on the lips, making him smirk.
"Well, you're in luck. This one just so happened to be my last play for the night. Just gotta clockout at the counter and we're off", he said as he removed his disguise with his ability, revealing his demon form. He was still wearing his hooded cloak however, nuzzling you with his fur now.
And as he said, he clocked out at the counter... Or rather a shadow clone did while he himself carried you bridal-style outside the theater and onto the dark streets. He didn't let go of you until you were in the darkness of an alleyway, embraced by the shadows. You knew he specifically did this to make you feel safer. Because something he told you early on into your relationship: 'You're a lot safer in the shadows. So don't be afraid of them, especially when I'm here.'
The two of you walked hand-in-hand down the alley, talking about whatever else happened at each of your respective workplaces. Apparently the theater had a major fangirl come in who couldn't stop squealing at Macaque's voice, overall mysterious demeanor, as well as shadow abilities.
You laughed a bit at the image of a random girl in the back of the audience having a fangirl meltdown. "She did stay behind after the play to ask me for my number. Of course I said no and showed her my ring, but can you believe that?" He rolled his eyes at the memory.
"Yes, I can believe that would've happened eventually. After all," you started as you made your shoulder bump into his in an affectionate manner, "you do have an irresistible charm on the character you're putting up while in disguise."
You could've sworn his tail wagged underneath his cloak from the faint movement of fabric your eyes were able to catch behind him, giving you an amused smile. He pouted at your word choice.
"Just while in disguise? Damn, guess I'll need to step up my game as amazing husband to top that character", he chuckled before pulling down his hood. "How about I top the 'mysterious storyteller' right now with a tale I know you'll love?"
You simply stared at him in awe before excitedly nodding your head to give him the 'go'. In response, he let go of your hand and pulled out his lantern from underneath his cloak, twirling it in a fluent motion before it abruptly stopped and lit up in all its purple glory. He then winked as he handed it to you for safekeeping before taking a few steps back towards the opposing wall.
Macaque used both his hands and body to make the shadows behind him move in the usual shadow play fashion you knew from his public plays. Despite being fully aware of his abilities, knowing he doesn't need to do such thing to create those visuals, you appreciated his need to be a bit more dramatic than necessary. It simply added a bit more flare to the experience and made it a lot more enjoyable. But this time he actually incorporated his tail into the play too.
He started out with his eyes closed and his hands behind his back, using his smooth voice to his advantage, "Welcome my loveliest viewer, to a shadow play. The likes of which have never been seen." The simian's eyes opened as he threw a loving glance at you before raising his hand to the night sky. His arm's shadow formed a monkey man behind him. You knew that was him from his previous plays.
"The tale follows up on a warrior's story told not so long ago... There was a lonely warrior, wandering the most darkest corners of an unknown town. Cast aside by his former source of light, the hero, he sought out to find another source to feel whole once more", he started as his shadow now depicted himself and Sun Wukong. The Monkey King seemed to vanish as if turned to dust before being blown away by the wind. Macaque's expression held a sliver of hatred, but was quickly replaced with a gentle smile as another memory resurfaced.
"One day while roaming the town in the dead of night, a thunderstorm approached. Desperate to find shelter, he came across a different kind of light. A light so powerful, its source did not seem to mind sharing it with everyone they met." His eyes dilated a bit as he turned to face you, seeing you hold onto his lantern with extra care, making sure not to block its light. You didn't even notice your own lovestruck smile until he smiled back. "That light was a generous and kind mortal human, who offered him their home to shield him from the cold and damp. They even offered him silent comfort from the sounds outside as lightning continued to strike."
The shadows now depicted a human holding their hands over the warrior's ears, making both gaze at one another in close proximity. Then it switched to a scene with both holding hands while looking at what could only be described as sunrise.
"As the storm faded into the night, so did the moon. The sun started to awaken as its rays made the warrior realize that this human was his new source of light. And yet he told himself he had to leave, for he did not feel worthy of their compassion." The shadow of the warrior let go of the light's hands, but then was quickly stopped by the light refusing to let go of one hand, lightly tugging him back towards them.
"However, the light proved him otherwise. They did not agree with his mindset and instead asked him to stay longer." The human now pulled the warrior closer to them before giving him a hug. Macaque couldn't help but let out a little chuckle as he recalled the memory. "And eventually, the warrior seemed to have been put under a spell so strong it sent him into a spiraling trance. One that would bind him to the light for the future to come." Your husband then slightly leaned closer in your direction with his signature grin. "It was a spell of love."
The scene shifted once more to show both of them kissing while sitting on a bench under a tree, one familiar one you recognized with ease. "Over the coming months, their love for one another grew, and so did the shadow's courage to propose marriage to his beloved light. He came up with a plan to meet up under the tree's branches once again, and he expressed his devotion to the loving light of his life..."
Suddenly, the lantern became dimmer by the second as he approached your now blushing form with his arms crossed, clearly hearing your heartbeat. "I believe you already know how this story ends."
And as the lantern's light faded away, you launched yourself forward to capture him in your embrace, giving him a passionate kiss on the lips. You were still holding onto the lantern with one hand behind his back. He wrapped his arms around you in return and leaned more into you. Once you pulled away for air, you gave him a bright smile as a few tears formed in your eyes from the joy you felt. Despite the dark that surrounded you two, the simian was able to see your happy response to his small, private play. Macaque knew how to pick his words far too well.
"You dork... I love you, Mac", your mumbled voice said as you nuzzled your face into his chest. His lips made contact with the top of your head as he pulled you closer to him, letting out what sounded like a low purr.
"I love you too, sugarplum."

I found a video that reminded me of modern War and it made me think
Do you think War just, randomly dances at times. Like, the kitchen timers going off? Sick beat, dance time. Fire alarm? Even better. Elevator music? A jam.
They've started testing what the funniest thing they can do to make War start dancing
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DA14QvHS1Cf/?igsh=OWU1bmMwdXF1MDh2
IM CRYIN THAT GUY ABSOLUTELY ATE THAT UP IN THAT VID HOLY SHIT
Wars absolutely will just randomly start dancing. if its to something like the microwave going off then he’d recreate that one freestyle dance teacher vine and Twi is absolutely joining him akjshkjshjksj or he and sky or twi will, what they call, “Quietly Breakdance” to a reminder alarm to take meds, and they don’t stop until the person who’s alarm went off does. if he has more space and is like, outside or something, and the opportunity presents itself and he decides to do it for the bit he’ll go nuts and make sky help him film a tiktok and he’ll have the same energy as the guy in that vid you sent. just because he thinks itd be funny. i’d say that he’s fun at parties but oh my god he has NO time to go, plus i think he’d get a bit overwhelmed, so i’ll say he’s fun during tech weeks and during that break between performances where theres two shows on saturday and everyone just kinda hangs out on the stage because the theater is closed to guests for a little bit. the vibes are always fantastic, last show i did my sister and her friend recreated a scene from high school musical and i moved a spot light on them literally just for the sake of it aljshkish
he’s definitely got unmedicated ADHD but it’s fine he has an outlet for his energy. he puts 100% into everything does (this poor mf is immune to caffeine so he’s running on a fucking prayer and a protein bar)
most of his experience is in ballet which his mother had him doing since he was 3 (and he has not quit that ever, so he’s been doing that for like 17 years) so if he’s going to randomly dance because he gets the Urge to and not because he just thinks it’d be funny 7/10 times its some kind of spin and he Will end up falling because either he slipped on the wood floor in his socks or it’s the classic “full grown adult with long legs vs tiny ass apartment” and he kicks something and knocks himself off balance. you’d think as a professional he would know you should never dance in your house like that because you’ll hurt yourself, but no he’ll never learn. their downstairs neighbors hate him (the downstairs neighbors are legend and hyrule)

pathetic vent post lol
so the thursday before last, one of my coworkers told me she's quitting bc she got a job in the field she wants to have a career in. I was happy for her and told her so, but I also felt kind of sad, because she's a woman close in age to me and I've been thinking we could be friends if I wasn't technically her boss for a little while now. so finally near the end of our shifts (we were closing) I buck up and ask if her she'd want to exchange contact info and stay in touch and hang out after she left.
and y'all she looked so happy and excited to be asked that. absolutely 0 hints that her delighted response wasn't genuine. so she puts her number in my phone, and even takes a silly picture for the contact pic, and I send a test text and she responds to confirm it's her correct number.
on monday I text her about hanging out later in the week, with ideas. on tuesday I text her again, with new ideas if she didn't like my first ones. I didn't mean to double text two days in a row.
nothing.
I wait till yesterday and send her one last text, explaining that I really do wanna be friends, I am more chill outside of work and she's only seen Work Nina if that's what she's worried about, but that I don't wanna bother her.
it's been over 24 hours now, and nothing. part of me wonders if she changed her mind and blocked my number.
it's just really disheartening because I've had another person string me along and then not respond/continually cancel on me pretty recently. after my college friend group broke up thanks to the serial sexual predator (which is a whole nother story, dw he didn't do anything to me, in fact he refused to talk to me the first time we met when I introduced myself and tried to make polite small talk, and I realized several months later that he didn't engage with me at all because he didn't wanna fuck me 🙃) things have been kind of dire in the irl friends department and it's sad and pathetic and I thought finally here was a girl I really connected with, and she liked gossiping with me at work, and she seemed really really excited at the possibility of being real friends with me, and then nope... not a single response to any of my texts. zip nada zilch.
it's just hard... I was basically socially rejected by everyone in my film program at my uni, then I finally started to make friends at the jewish club and a serial predator with an apartment full of guns who sells stolen lego sets on ebay and does cocaine ruins that, and then I'm at work and now that I'm a manager I'm the boss of most people there and I wouldn't be close friends with most of them anyways and the one girl who I think I could be really close friends with fucking ghosts me after I was brave enough to ask if she'd wanna be friends. it's been like five straight years of rejection for me. I always had friends in k-12, I wasn't a "popular kid" but I was well liked among the venn diagram of gays, nerds, theater kids, and band kids and I had a lot of friends in high school. I don't fucking know what happened. and now I'm on meds that are finally giving me energy and happy chemicals so I wanna go out, I wanna do stuff, I wanna walk around, and I don't wanna be an apartment slug anymore but I don't have anyone to do anything with and there's only so much fun you can have by yourself. and I'm still too shy to go to a bar alone because I know I'll stand in the corner paralyzed by social anxiety. I'm trying bumble bff rn but I'm so shit at responding to people and I kinda hate myself for it and I'm trying to do better but I keep not responding to people for too long and yeah maybe my ex-coworker is stuck in that cycle too idk.
oh yeah and the whole past year of antisemitism makes everything worse because I'm deeply realistically afraid that any goyim I meet are going to be hateful hamasniks <3 so that's a fun lil bonus.
jesus man... idfk. it's just shitty. it's just fucking shitty.

People have powers connected to their natural talents. Gregory is a natural born hacker; his power allows him to physically enter any kind of machine, no matter how simple or complicated and control them however he wishes. He can even change the programming/coding however he wants. He’s taken odd jobs to clean viruses from computers and fix faulty programming in faulty machines. The night he gets stuck in the Mega Pizzaplex, he knows exactly what to do.
This is the final tumblr generated prompt from the last round, number 66, and the prompt is from Hydrangea_Cherry9 on ao3! So, admittedly, this is probably the most I’ve diverged from a prompt so far because the tech stuff feels like it would fit better with Cassie, and I kinda had a different idea for Gregory. So basically, AU where everyone has one specific magic-esque power that they get as kids. I also took a bit of inspiration from that one post about little everyday magics.
Child of Chaos
To the bewilderment of his parents, Gregory didn’t seem to have a magic ability. They usually started coming in when a child was five years old, so when he went unchanged, his parents assumed he’d be a late bloomer. By the time he was eight, and far past “late,” they assumed he had a weak or subtle power. Because surely it was impossible for someone to just not have one.
Gregory himself never seemed upset with his abject normality. Not when his dad used his ability—his cooking was always perfect—or his mom used hers—she could predict the weather down to the minute and degree—or his classmates all started showing theirs off in school.
Like his best friend Cassie, who could slip her mind into whatever electronic device she was touching. Or Hunter, who had an internal clock and timer and stopwatch and alarm. And Lucy knew someone’s mood just from looking them in the eyes, and nothing Barry dropped, no matter how delicate, ever broke.
Gregory never complained or made faces or got frustrated with his friends. He shrugged when people asked about his magic, or lack thereof. He claimed to be totally unbothered by whatever obscure power he had that he’d yet to discover.
What no one noticed was the glint in his eyes, the twitch of his secret smile. They didn’t recognize his apparent indifference as a mask or his non-answers as lies. He never teased or hinted at the truth, never countered the mocking remarks, never sought to prove them wrong. Because that would give it away.
It would have made sense, had anyone figured it out, that he held his silence so strictly. That he kept his chaos a secret.
When things went wrong, or even just not as expected—that was Gregory’s doing. His little bit of magic. It could be big or small; he was equally capable of making the entire school lose electricity as he was at making any small object go missing at an inconvenient time.
It was a remarkable power to have in a day and age where most people’s magic affected only themselves or a very small area around them. But Gregory, at eight, decided he’d wanted a snow day instead of a test on Friday, and the skies had dumped four and a half feet of snow in a twenty mile radius around his house overnight.
So of course his magic was his best kept secret. It wouldn’t do for people to be suspicious of him for every little thing that happened. He’d lose all his fun if adults knew the sort of chaos he caused that couldn’t be traced back to him, so long as his magic was unknown.
And so it was that, standing in the pizzaplex, knowing there were animatronics hunting him down and a crazy killer out for his blood, Gregory grinned. His philosophy was that if anyone tried to ruin his day, he’d make theirs so much worse.
Roxy couldn’t stop tripping over her own feet; Monty kept leaping headfirst into arcade machines and photo booths and walls; doors closed in Chica’s face without fail. The STAFF bots bumped into each other, potted plants, and during one memorable moment, caused a massive pileup in the theater hallways that entirely blocked the killer bunny lady from reaching him.
Gregory had never had so many opportunities to cause chaos, and he was living for it.
Moon got tangled in his wires, the elevators stopped working for anyone but Gregory, and Sun found himself locked in a closet. The DJ got stuck trying to climb out of his massive passageways, and he was left to watch Gregory cheerfully saunter from the arcade’s back room.
But nothing was funnier than what his chaos did to his wannabe murderer. Chica ran into the bunny lady and sent them both tumbling down the long staircase in the lobby. Roxy accidentally bit her arm. Monty’s sharp nails snagged in her suit and shredded the front of it. The suit head got twisted and stuck, effectively blinding her. Moon mistook her for Gregory and tackled her. The blade of her knife fell off the handle. The lost and found door got jammed, locking her out as Gregory leisurely escaped via vent.
Cackling after the latest mishap—she face-planted after a hapless wet floor sign bot trundled into her path—Gregory gleefully returned to Freddy. Even his kindly protector was chuckling. The killer lady, who had to have been pretty fed up with her rotten luck tonight, had yet to get up off the ground and now had a circle of concerned wet floor sign bots gathered around her.
“It seems everyone is suffering from bad luck tonight,” Freddy commented as they left the atrium. “I have never seen my friends be so clumsy.”
Gregory snickered, relaxed as ever in Freddy’s chest cavity. “Yeah, it’s like they’ve been cursed.”
Freddy chuckled. “And thank goodness we have been spared,” he said, in a knowing sort of way.
Gregory sat up a bit and blinked in surprise—no one had ever figured him out before, but then again, he’d never dealt out chaos quite like this before either. “I—”
“Your secret is safe with me, superstar,” Freddy gently interrupted him.
After a moment of thought, Gregory slumped again with a rueful smile. He supposed he’d known he wouldn’t be able to hide his magic forever, and he couldn’t think of a better person to be the first to know. Cassie would probably be the second, honestly.
“You’re not freaked out?” he asked. It wasn’t something he liked to admit to himself, that he was a little bit scared of potential reactions. He didn’t want to be blamed for every little thing, even inconveniences that he genuinely hadn’t caused, or for people to walk on eggshells around him, fearful of retribution.
“Not at all.” The hatch opened, and Gregory didn’t resist when Freddy gently pulled him out and into his arms. “I do not believe you are the type of person to use such an ability to intentionally cause harm. And if I am being honest…”
He paused as Roxy burst out of a door up ahead, only for her eyes to go dark with sudden blindness. She stumbled around, waving her arms in front of her.
“They do deserve to be ‘cursed’ in this case,” Freddy finished, not without humor.
Gregory laughed, and on cue, as Roxy whirled to face them, her legs locked up and she toppled over with a screech.

i can see you- robin buckley
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: robin buckley x fem!reader
summary: robin crushes on her scene partner, but maybe it's not totally hopeless (loosely based on 'i can see you' by taylor swift)
warnings: implications of homophobia, no use of y/n
word count: 1,133
author's note: my first ask!! i'm so excited you have no idea! kinda lost the plot but i'm not totally upset with it, hope the anon that requested this enjoys still :)) (if not lmk and i'll happily rewrite it)
Tumblr media
Robin was out of her element. She wasn't used to being in the spotlight, but when Dustin asked her to audition for Beauty and the Beast with him, she couldn't say no. So now here she is, nervously approaching the cast list posted in front of the theater, silently praying she gets a simple, minor role. But as she looks through the list, her heart stops when seeing her name near the top.
Robin Buckley- Beast
“Oh cool! You got a lead!” Dustin celebrated as he points to his name that is followed by Chip. “And we’ll have scenes together!”
Robin smiles at him before nervously looking at her name again. “But isn't the Beast supposed to be a male role?”
Dustin just shrugs before responding, “Not enough guys auditioned so I guess a couple girls had to get the male roles.”
Robin nods, still staring at the list with worry. That is until you crowd around Robin to look at the cast list before squealing in delight.
Robin wants to be annoyed at first until you look at her with a bright smile, and she feels herself melt a little.
“You’re Robin, right?”
She nods and you throw yourself forward to hug her. “I'm going to be your Belle! We're going to have so much fun!”
And then you walk away, leaving her but not before looking back at her with a smile.
Maybe playing the Beast won't be too bad…
And she was right, playing the Beast wasn't bad at all when sharing the stage with you. The more rehearsals that passed the closer that you two got.
Robin seems to notice you all around school now too. She sees you walking through the halls, laughing with your friends. And every time you notice her you always give her a smile that she can't help but return as she feels butterflies erupt in her stomach.
She especially loves you you walk to rehearsals with her. Your shoulders brushing against each other as you walk down the hallway, close enough that she can smell the sweet scent of your perfume.
The smell so sweet it makes her head fuzzy and she can't help but think about being surrounded by it all the time.
But she shuts down those thoughts quickly. Because as much as Robin sees you she believes that you only see a scene partner. So she keeps everything professional, trying her best not to read too much into the loving look you give her when you practice your scenes.
But that gets harder as you start hanging out more outside of drama. Always offering her rides and going out to do things together, just the two of you. It only makes Robin want you that much more. Especially when you stand so close to her, making her want to reach out and touch your skin, thinking about what you would do back.
She thinks you guys could make it work. Sure people of Hawkins aren't the most excepting, but nobody had to find out about them. They could keep things quiet, just live happily by yourselves.
But she kept those thoughts and feelings to herself, all the way until closing night of the play.
As tooth take your final bows, holding hands and bowing down with a smile to the audience. Only this time she felt a piece of paper between your joined hands. Robin looks at you with a curious look, which you only respond with a wink and a sweet smile.
She blushes and holds the piece of paper tightly in her hand until the curtains close. Once the audience can't see her she unfolds the paper and reads,
Meet me tonight, behind the theater.
Robin couldn't help but blush as she stares at the note, rereading it over and and over again. Staring at it long enough that Dustin peers over her shoulder and gasps as he read the note himself.
“Dude! She’s totally in love with you!”
Robin just rolls her eyes but keeps the smile on her face, “I don't know Dustin, it could just be another friend thing."
With a scoff and a shove to her shoulder Dustin says, “People don't hang out with other people like you two do and not fall in love!”
She blushes but shoves him away, moving to quickly change out of her costume to meet you.
Robin shivers slightly when she exits the theater, the cold autumn air nipping at her face. She walks around to the back and suddenly doesn't feel the cold at all, instead getting warmed by the sight of you smiling, waiting for her.
She walks up to you nervously, a giant grin on her face, “Hey”
You giggle in response, relaxing Robin, “Hey, I just wanted to say that I had so much fun getting to be your Belle.”
You blush and look down, making Robin smile because you're blushing because of her.
“And I, um, I just wanted to say that I hope we still hang out even though we don't have the play anymore,”
Seeing you get all shy and blushy when talking to her makes Robin melt and so nervous, to the point that she couldn't help the ramble that was about to come out.
“Duh! I am I love hanging out with you because I love yo-“ the blush on Robin’s face was now so bright she was sure people across the street could see how red she was.
But this was just what you needed to hear to look back up at her, your sweet smile blossoming and your face growing a blush that could challenge Robin’s.
It also gave you the confidence you needed to place your hand on her cheek, stroking her soft skin before leaning in slowly, giving her the time to back out.
But she didn't, instead she leaned in with you, her eyes darting from your eyes to your lips.
And then your lips finally connect. Neither of you know who made the final push to connect but neither of you care. Robin let out a sigh of relief against your lips, happy that this is real.
You just smile into the kiss, putting both your hands in her hair to bring her closer to you.
Eventually you both pull apart with stupid, love-sick grins on your faces. You quickly give her another peck before pulling away and reaching for her hand.
Robin smiles at your joined hands. And looks at you to see your bright eyes staring back at her. Even if you guys can't be this close in public, Robin knows she'll do anything to make sure you look at her with those eyes all the time.
And she’s been on a Russian spy mission, this can be just another secret mission.

I've just started reading Dungeon Meshi and I had to share some context for a Japanese-culture joke that I actually got for once!
Tumblr media
When I was in college, there was a little independent theater that mostly showed foreign & independent films, plus midnight cult classics, monster movie Mondays, and a monthly? amateur short film festival that was also a gong show*. I didn't make near enough use of this theater and I regret that to this day, but one of the movies I did see there on a Monster Movie Monday was Matango.
Spoilers for Matango below, if it wasn't obvious.
Matango (1963) is a Japanese monster movie by director Ishiro Honda, who you're most likely to know as the director of Godzilla (1954). Matango is generally considered his darkest film. Also, weirdly, I've heard a rumor it might be a major inspiration for Gilligan's Island? And I can kinda see it?
Anyway, it's about a group of people who are shipwrecked on an island full of radioactive fungus. Everybody's pretty leery about eating them, because the shipwreckees found an older shipwreck, including a ship's log from its (now-absent) survivors saying the mushrooms cause hallucinations - but they're running low on food so eventually some of them say y'know what, fuck it.
The mushrooms turn out to be not only hallucinogenic, but also addictive and infectious - you can tell how long someone's been eating mushrooms based on their level of mushroom disfigurement. The mushroom eaters hunt down the holdouts and force them to eat the mushrooms too. Only one dude escapes the island, and in the last shot of the film we see - dun dun DUN! - even though he got away without eating any mushrooms, he still got infected and is turning into a mushroom person.
So the implication is that the travelogue guy ate from a Matango-style walking mushroom, and got transformed into one himself for his trouble. And because it's a funny side page instead of main comic continuity, Marcille understands the implication and is freaked out by this.
What's funnier to me, though, is Laios's nonchalance. You just know that if he understood the cultural reference, he would be fucking drooling at the thought of a monster he could both eat and turn into.
Dumb asides about that independent theater's film festival below the cut.
* The Gong Show was a 70s TV talent show where if someone's act sucked, they'd ring a big gong to cut them off. In the case of this short film festival, there was a 2 or 3 minute grace period, after which one of the organizers shone a light on the gong. Once the light was on the gong, the audience was allowed and indeed encouraged to shout "gong!" if they weren't enjoying the current film; if there was enough shouting, the host would ring the gong and the film would be cut off. From a creator's perspective I imagine this must have been humiliating; but from an audience and I suppose business perspective, it was crucial to keeping the event fun and well-attended. Very few people would have paid 5 bucks to spend their Friday night screening a bunch of poorly-paced, masturbatory student films. Instead, the threat of the gong encouraged locals to make short funny videos that would have done numbers on Tiktok if it had been around at the time. (An example I still remember 15 years later: shots of someone's hands assembling a cheese sandwich while Duel of the Fates plays. Cut to show the guy throwing the sandwich into the air, just as the music is climaxing. The guy is in jedi robes, activates his lightsaber, and swings at the sandwich. Cut to the sandwich falling back onto the plate, cut in half, grilled from the slice out. The guy picks up one of the halves and takes a bite. End of film.)
I only saw the audience not be ruthless about gonging a boring film once. An out-of-towner entered a short about a woman losing her child during the Holocaust. Not depicting an actual series of events, you understand - just symbolic shots of stars of david and swastikas and a woman and her child frolicking in a field and then DRAMATIC SLOW-MO on a shot of her spinning around and then gasp! The clothes are empty!
During the intro (every entrant gave one before their film was shown), she mentioned that it had won some other local film festivals, but she didn't think it was going to play as well here. I get the impression she hadn't realized this was a festival attended by normal-ass people, and was rather embarrassed about how poorly hers was going to go over. But, nobody wanted to be the first one to boo a film about the Holocaust, and so everyone patiently waited through her maudlin piece of crap film. (When your film is already dragging, for the love of god, don't add slo-mo .)

solaris
Tumblr media
word count: 1.8k
paring: spencer reid x oc (but sorta y/n ish lol)
summary: spencer and ariana go to see a showing of 'solaris' (referenced in season 6 ep 14)
warnings: none?? just fluff lol
i don't really write fanfic this is kinda a one off so mb if this is a bit clunky 🤗🙃
Ariana Striker didn't really watch a lot of Sci-Fi. But ever since joining the BAU about a year ago and befriending a certain Spencer Reid, she knew more than ever before.
She was packing up her things for the night at the office after a case in LA when she noticed him talking on the phone at the desk over.
Ariana heard him mention something called 'Solaris'. What was that? A new planet he'd discovered?
Spencer hung up the phone with an odd look on his face.
"Who were you talking to?" Ariana asked, she couldn't help being curious.
"Emily, I was asking if she wanted to see Solaris in the theater with me, since she and I are the only ones who understand Russian," he answered, putting his phone in his pocket, "But she's busy with Sergio."
Her eyes widened, "Ooh, a new guy?"
"Her cat," Spencer replied, "But I thought the same thing."
"Oh," Ariana laughed, "Anyway, what's Solaris?" she asked.
"It's a Sci-Fi film made in 1972 that follows a psychiatrist sent to investigate the death of a doctor and the mental states of the cosmonauts in a space station orbiting a planet named Solaris." Spencer explained.
"Really? Interesting, a Russian sci fi film." she pondered.
"It's approximately five hours long, it's one of the greatest sci fi mediation films of all time." he added picking up his bag, "Well, bye," he started off.
"Wait," Ariana half laughed.
He stopped and turned raising his eyebrows.
"You didn't ask me about my plans?"
"Oh, what are your plans?" he asked.
"I was planning on eating Ben & Jerry's and watching 21 Jump Street..." she began.
"What's 21 Jump Street?" Spencer asked.
"You've never- you know it doesn't matter, point is the emphasis is on was. "
"What are you doing now?" he rested his hands in his pockets.
Ariana shook her head, "You know what nevermind, it's okay. Enjoy your movie, Reid." she smiled, slipping her coat on.
Spencer frowned, "I have a feeling I'm missing something."
She stepped out from behind her desk and walked towards him, "I was hinting that I could go to the movie with you but it seemed to-" Ariana made a woodshing sound and waved her hand over her head.
"Oh," Spencer said, "You don't understand Russian."
"Y'know for a profiler you seem to be highly confused by my behavior. I'm trying to make a nice gesture, so you don't have to go alone." Ariana motioned vaguely.
"You want to watch a five hour movie in a language you don't understand?"
She had to admit it didn't sound like the most fun, but maybe it could be, with him.
"Why not? I can probably pick up on stuff with the visuals and if you give me a quick explanation of the plot before we start ." Arriana shrugged.
"I can explain on the way," Spencer said enthusiastically.
"Let's go," she replied, patting him on the shoulder.
~~~~~~~
When they arrived she was once again baffled at the way his mind worked, however she doubted if she'd retain all the information she'd heard.
"So what's the probability that there really is a water brain planet out there?" Ariana asked as she grabbed her popcorn.
"I don't think there's an exact probability, but only 0.05 percent of the galaxy has been explored so it's possible." Spencer reasoned.
"Wow, you don't have an exact stat for something?" Ariana teased, popping a piece of popcorn in her mouth.
"I know," Spencer said sadly.
"Popcorn?" she offered, pointing the bucket at him.
He shook his head.
"More for me," Ariana said happily.
The theatre was small and old, it still had the light box lettering on the outside and little red seats on the inside.
They took their seats in the back, despite Spencer's point that the best seats were technically in the middle.
"But back here, you get to see the full screen, and you don't get people hitting you in the back." Ariana remarked.
He seemed to accept that and settled into his seat as the beginning credits began to play.
Ariana pulled off her coat and leaned back. She glanced at Spencer who's brown eyes were trained on the screen.
Just as she looked away she felt his gaze on her. Ariana peered at him through the corner of her eye, and neither of them looked away for a moment. She smiled and he smiled before she focused her attention on the movie, hoping she wasn't blushing like a school girl.
The movie was interesting, but her sleepless nights at the hotel the past few days were finally catching up to her and she was struggling to stay awake.
She was abruptly pulled out of her daze when the movie stopped for an intermission. Thank god, she needed to stretch her legs and wake herself up.
Ariana stood and stretched her arms over her head, "I could do with some fresh air, come on."
Spencer followed after her into the cool night air.
"What do you think of it, the movie?" he asked.
"Good, very Russian." I answered.
He nodded and his mouth fell into that flat line like it always did.
Ariana thought for a moment, "You know what I can do? I'm really good at catching food with my mouth," she clapped her hands together.
Spencer looked at her puzzledly, "What?"
"You know, people throw peanuts or something and people catch them in their mouths?" she threw a piece of popcorn at him.
He watched it fall, "I see,"
"Here," she shoved the popcorn bucket into his arms, "Throw a piece, I'll show you."
"I have terrible aim," Spencer added matter-of-factly.
"Try your best,"
He threw a piece of popcorn in the air and Ariana successfully caught it.
"See," she said between bites.
Spencer laughed a little, "Cool."
"Now, your turn," Ariana took back the bag.
"No, I'm okay," he insisted.
"Just try, I'm gonna keep throwing popcorn at you until you do," Ariana threatened.
Spencer shrugged, "Okay, I'll give it a shot,"
She threw it up and he surprisingly got it, "Wow you're a natural, I've been honing my skills for years." Ariana smiled.
"It's more physics than physical ability, but thank you," he said earnestly.
"No, you're the chosen one." Ariana chuckled.
Spencer did too and they continued throwing popcorn until intermission was over.
Once they returned to their seats Ariana prayed for the strength to stay awake for another two and a half hours.
It didn't work.
Five minutes later, Ariana was out.
Spencer turned to her to see her fast asleep, head half resting on the back of the chair.
He laughed to himself and just watched her for a moment, she really was pretty. But of course that didn't matter. Spencer cleared his throat and shifted his arms against the arm rests.
Approximately fifty five seconds later, Ariana slumped down further, and her head rested against his shoulder.
Spencer's eyes widened, she was still deeply asleep, and her head was on his shoulder. Her head was on his shoulder.
He was never overly touchy, but his team was the exception, often sharing hugs with them. And Ariana, she gave great hugs.
So there was no logical reason as to why her head on his shoulder was distracting him so much. But it was.
He made an active decision to not focus on the warmth of her body against his or the smell of her conditioner, he would miss the movie.
For two hours and twenty eight minutes, Spencer didn't move his left arm, and found it to be quiet numb.
The movie ended and Ariana was still slumbering so Spencer made an attempt to wake her.
"Ariana," he muttered, "Ariana, the movie is done."
She stirred and then opened her eyes a little, squinting at the light. Coming to her senses, Ariana shot up.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to," she motioned to his arm.
"It's okay," he said quietly, flexing his hands, trying to get blood flow back.
"What happened? Is the movie over?" Ariana looked around.
"Yes," he answered.
"Oh, Spencer, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to," she said, rubbing her face, "I'm just a bit sleep deprived."
"Don't be, you got some sleep and I enjoyed the company." Spencer concluded, standing and grabbing his jacket.
"I suppose that's true," Ariana said as they exited the theatre.
"You've got a pretty comfortable shoulder," she added.
"Thank you," he said contently, "You've got a...nice head..." Spencer scratched the back of his head.
She chuckled at him, "Thanks. We should do this again sometime," Ariana proposed.
"There's a showing of Silent Running next week," Spencer replied.
"It's a date." she winked.
Spencer smiled at the ground.
"So," Ariana nudged him, "I gotta know how Solaris ended."
"So," Spencer began.
Your art is so inspiring!!! I love all your ocs!
You should totally infodump about your favorite ones (no pressure) 😁
GRAHHHH THANK YOU!!!! 😭😭😭
Tumblr media
UM UM MY FAVORITE IS PROBABLY KYO
SHE'S DEFINITELY THE MOST DEVELOPED PLUS I DRAW HER THE MOST
this is probably going to be long so i will add a cut
So so so this is in her summary but she's an evil mirror clone that wants to be god
she also had two other designs and names, "Ophelia" and "Atheia" so erm if you see those guys they also filled the 'wants to become god' slot in my story at one point
She's the main villain and she has mirror powers
Uhhh I'll sort this into mirror clone and real one because they are two different people
Kyo (real one) first
Her parents names are Diana and Sampsa. Diana is a singer/idol with water powers who is a pretty bad person and is very self-absorbed. She sponsors a cult, fun fact!! Sampsa is a mycologist with fog powers who is a lot more gentle and calm than Diana is, though he doesn't talk to his kids (or anyone really) much.
Sampsa died by uhhh undecided means and Diana was not as upset as she should be, and that upset Kyo.
Kyo has a sister too who's an idol too by association with Diana and also gets along her mother better than Kyo. Her name is Fable :3
Kyo probably confronts her mother about not being sad about Sampsa's death at some point, I haven't really thought this part of her life out so it's subject to change more than everything else is.
Her mother's gives some speech like "The guy wasn't even famous, Loser, L. Fame is what matters guys." and Kyo, flabbergasted, does not like her mother anymore. Fable was fine with it.
Kyo met the other two main villains at school when she was a kid, Echi and Sylas (Plus Poprocks but he's not a villain). Echi and Sylas were already friends and at some point Sylas was in a kinda dangerous part of the woods and Kyo was like, "Yo you should probably leave" "Yeah but I need this endangered, hard to find flower for my friend's birthday"
"Omg you'd really do that much for a birthday? that's wild" She's very touched by how much effort he was giving since she never really had close friends, so she helps him get the flower
Sylas is pretty thankful, plus like no one likes him, so they became friends. Kyo also befriends Echi since that's Sylas's only other friend.
evil mirror clone time
Kyo gets a little crush on Echi at some point adulthood, also sometime after her dad died. She makes a mirror clone to rizz Echi up for her. It goes well at first, Kyo and her mirror clone getting along, the mirror clone reporting back being like "WE GOT A DATE!!!!!!"
But uh oh! Mirror clone got evil and locked Kyo up in the bedroom. The mirror clone got a crack and realized how fragile it was, so it started freaking out and started trying to become immortal.
Kyo had the teeniest tiniest 'I'm better than other people' attitude from her mother and her evil mirror clone also got some of that, yum yum.
So the mirror clone looks for crystals (which is like the power source in the story) a lot. Humans can only have like 10 before... like... exploding or something, but she's not human, so she carries a lot more than that.
At some point she gets Echi and Sylas to help her spill oil into a crowded under water theater (that Poprocks is performing at) as a distraction so evil mirror clone could steal the cities power source
Echi helps because they're in love and Sylas helps because she's literally his only other friend aside from Echi, also like... bad home life... neglect moment. Bro does not have anyone else.
that's basically her deal plus that's also where the story starts so i'm done yapping for now
!¡ Copia x Gn!Reader
"Kinda adorable."
Tumblr media
A/N: Put an eye on Copia for a little while (・・) I don't know how to write him at 100%, so I apologize if it's a bit OOC, Enjoy!
Versión Esp aquí !
Tw: Gn!Reader, pronouns not specified, fluff
Tumblr media
"I'll be outside for several hours." He says while combing his hair back. "Don't do anything I'm responsible for." Ghouls nodded while his hands half-heartedly fixed his suit, which seemed to have been recently ironed. "And you." He says while one finger of his pointed directly in your direction "Don't cause trouble
Your eyes are roll. You? Cause trouble? Pff, not in a million years. Maybe the other day you broke the microwave because of a supposed "constant threatening noise" that it came from it, or that the day before that you climbed onto the roof trying to hide from Sodo, who you made angry all the time, almost dying trying, or that the week before they almost canceled a live show because you had broken your instrument and, trying to fix it, you caused a short circuit in the entire theater.
Well, those are small exceptions that did not have a great impact, or that's what you called them, something that Copia didn't always find very funny. It was always something new with you. Once Papa Emeritus V passed the door and closed it, it was only a matter of seconds before the other Ghouls found out about your antics..
"I told you to give it to me!" Sodo yells angrily as he tried to grab you. "I just want to play my great solo, give me five minutes, yeah?" That makes him even more angry, you didn't even have one. His legs move nimbly to match your speed, but all that effort is in vain. "Let's see, how do you play this thing?" You say to yourself, completely ignoring the fact that a Ghoul taller than you was directly in front of you, and was prepared to stop you.
Sodo reaches out to grab his guitar before it hit the ground and broke. What did reach the ground, and what caused you slight pain, was you and your head when you collided with Mountain and fell to the ground.
"Ugh, thanks.'" The shorter one said as he left the place, but not before giving you a look that indirectly communicated 'I'm going to kill you.' You were already used to that look anyways. 'Stop stealing his guitar, he'll kill us all if you even scratch it." Mountain tells you as he helps you stand up. "I didn't steal it, I borrowed it without asking." The ghoul in front of you nods while rolling his eyes with an amused smile. "Yeah, yeah, You better come to rehearse with me."
Your hand was behind your head, where you had received the impact against the ground, as you followed Mountain towards the rehearsal room. Those few minutes in which you remained silent listening to Mountain speak were the most calm sounds that the Ghoul could witness coming from you. "You're very quiet, did you hit yourself too hard?" Sorry for tha-" but, when he turns around, a disappointed expression appears on his face and a hand rises to his forehead when he sees that you weren't around.
Well,maybe you got distracted halfway when you passed by Copia's room. Maybe you entered without being heard and maybe you were rummaging through his drawers.
You laughed while seeing how many suits of the same color Papa Emeritus IV had, perhaps it was you who could not distinguish between two almost identical colors. His room was gigantic, or well, it was bigger compared to yours. The sheets on the bed were very thick, not to mention soft too. You lay down as if you didn't have obligations gripping your shoulders and sigh deeply.
Your eyes traveled around the room looking for something fun to do, until you find a very familiar white suit shining before you. That black hat was calling you, and you knew it. It didn't take long for you to decide to put on that white suit. You noticed that it wasn't too big or too small, it was almost taylor made for you.
You look at yourself in the bedroom mirror. You looked good, pretty good. You start doing the poses that Copia did during the shows, using the cane that was next to his clothes as a microphone. Humming song lyrics, you don't notice eyes behind you. You get scared and trip, colliding with the closet and causing the hat to fall on your head.
"What are you doing?" You can recognize, by the voice, that it was Copia. You weren't usually one to be embarrassed by what you did, but this did more than make your heart race. You quickly stood up, staggering, avoiding eye contact at all times for fear of worse humiliation. A few seconds of awkward silence pass, which you can't stand, and you run out of the room. You would change and return him his clothes another time. Now you just had to hope that Copia didn't take it the wrong way and that he didn't tell anyone...
However, what you didn't see was that Copia, after grabbing the papers that he had forgotten on his desk, let out a faint laugh as he shook his head.
"How adorable."
Pov You're Camilo Madrigal 🦎
Ok so, for him, I had to be more deep and invest because he doesn't appear a lot in the movie.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I feel like, Camilo is not the full gremlin we pictured, I feel like he's more introverted than it shows like his siblings, but he's still the most extroverted of them. Mirabel and him are kinda alike, mostly for their gremlin energy, but also through art, she's a sewer and a musician and he is clearly a theater kid, that's indisputable lol, but also likes to doodle and to keep diaries. A LOT of diaries in which he talks about everything, especially since he and Mirabel started to grow apart from each other. He notes things about people he cares about, plays about books he liked or where he would want to go if he could, what he would want to show to his brother and yadah yadah. Also, I bet he would take a bunch of pictures he would put on his walls, a bucn of pictures in which he would never appears. Yeah, I feel like around people, especially his family, he does everything so people don't worry about him, because that's his role, actually: being The distraction, which doesn't give him a word to say to anyone. That's why he's so soft alone or around his mom when she's too stressed, and after the movie, with Mirabel. I would include Antonio but I think, with Antonio, he's doing his best to be a bright and protective big brother so Antonio doesn't have to be forced into anything. ❤‍🩹
Sooooo yeah, this might be unpopular opinion but I've been thinking about it for a while, especially since I heard about the original idea of Camilo faking his appearance to the point Pepa and Felix, his own parents, didn't recognize him when Casita fall down. He's just a kid hiding himself behind his gift to please the others and trying to convince himself that IT IS who he is. I have a scene in my ff that exploited this idea. Anyways, I didn't read a lot of headcannon before doing mine (mostly because most of the hc I found about him were x reader, and it wasn't what I needed haha...) so it's a bit longer than Mirabel, but I NEEDED to say more about him- about all of them actually ! Or I will exploded 🤯 So yeah, I think I'll make a moodboard, especially Pepa's side of the family since they're not exploited that much in the movie, and my buns are butter deprived for three years now 💀
here's the link to the moodboard and the sketches of him
Tumblr media
Fun fact, because of the weird blocked face in sketch's phase, I laughed so much and so hard for so long that I couldn't finish this face for a long time or even open my sketchbook xD no but it's because IT WAS SO FUNNY LOOK AT HIM 🤣
