“haechan’s home guys,” like it wasn’t that obvious…

you grab your tube of lip balm that was across your desk, quickly and evenly applying some to your lips. when you rub your lips together, it feels a bit thick but you try to ignore it.

he hums, “that’ll just go to waste, let me get some.” he cups your face again, pushing your chair with his knees to make room for him to stand in front of you. you instinctively place your hands on his waist from the sudden movements. he bends down, his face inching closer towards yours and it’s like your brain goes haywire because your lips quickly connects with his before you attempt to shove him away.

it’s close to midnight when the lock of your apartment clicks open. turning your head in the direction of the sound, you catch sight of your boyfriend’s unmistakable shadow entering the hallway. he kicks off his shoes and drops his bag before shutting the door behind him, letting out a long exhale.

“hi baby,” you greet as he pads over, yet your attention is stolen by some intense dialogue coming from your show on the tv. you sink back into the couch once haechan crosses into the living room.

“hi love,” he says airily before crashing down on top of you, causing you to groan under his full weight. he shifts to lay more comfortably across your lap and you give him a light bonk to the back of his head in retaliation.

he doesn’t say anything else for a moment, just resting his cheek on his arms as if his torso isn’t draped along your legs like some oddly shaped blanket. the scent of his shampoo is now mixed with sweat and peppermint candy but it manages to calm you, strangely.

“long day?” you ask once noting his lack of conversation. your eyes don’t peel from the tv but one of your hands finds its way into his hair nonetheless.

“mmhm,” he mumbles while your fingers gently work through a small knot. he lets out a sigh. “sorry, they had us running around the city all day today. you weren’t waiting up for me, were you?”

“no, i was waiting up for mark actually,” you joke.

“funny,” he huffs, blindly reaching behind his head to catch your hand in his. he squeezes you slightly and it draws a laugh from you.

with your hand now in his, he guides your touch towards the middle of his back. it's very much clear what he wants and you easily provide it to him, scratching along the notches down his spine. he hums out happily and you exhale in amusement, masking the way your heart flutters at his contentment.

he pauses for a second. silence settles comfortably over the two of you once more until he's speaking up again.

you tilt your head down slightly to look at him. with your free hand, you push away the stray hairs brushing along his forehead. “i’ll always be here for you. you don’t need to thank me.”

“but i do,” he shifts to sit up now, the weight of his body now being replaced with that of just his legs. “you’ve memorized my top three favorite side dishes in preferential order. you know how much alcohol i can take based on the type and you called off of work last week to take my family dog to the vet. plus, who else is gonna wait up for me until midnight to scratch my back even when i’m sweaty and gross?”

you laugh and meet his gaze with a smile, replying sarcastically. “in my defense i told you i was waiting for mark.”

"Hey, focus!" Jeno reminded, chuckling at Haechan's distracted look. "Pull your shit together and do your best one last time."

Haechan only groaned in response.

"He's right," Jaemin chimed in. "You can finally visit your girlfriend once this is done. She's sick in bed, right?"

Haechan nodded in response before letting out a sigh for the nth time that day. He couldn't stop worrying about you ever since you got sick a few days ago, and he hated himself for being unable to visit you even once due to his packed schedules.

NCT Dream was waiting in the dressing room for their turn to perform for their final music show performance before they can finally take a few days of rest. Luckily for Haechan (and Mark), they had no other schedules lined up for the next few days as well for NCT 127.

After the performance, the boys quickly got dressed to leave, with Haechan being the quickest to get inside the van.

"Hyung, can you please drop me off over there?" Haechan asked their manager, pointing to the direction where a pharmacy was located.

"Just try not to get sick as well, alright? Inform me or Taeyong if you're gonna come home to the dorms tonight or not." their manager said before parking the van on the side of the road.

After saying a quick goodbye to his members and seeing the van leave, Haechan walked inside the pharmacy and took out his phone.

"Hi. Can I please have these?" He politely asked at the counter, showing a list of medicine and some other items for you.

"Thank you." he said as he left the pharmacy and rode a taxi on his way to your apartment, anxious to see how you were doing.

Meanwhile, you were peacefully sleeping in bed with a serious cold, not having the slightest idea that your boyfriend will be visiting you soon.

Haechan actually insisted for you to go to the hospital. But being a stubborn person that you are, you didn't listen to him anyway and just decided to stay in bed, assuring him that you'll be fine in a few days. 3 days tops, you said, which clearly wasn't the case at the moment.

A delicious aroma wafted in your room suddenly, disturbing your sleep, and prompted you to open your sleepy eyes and sniff the air.

"What...?" you mumbled to yourself groggily as you rubbed your eyes. Still lying in bed, you squinted your eyes to look at the window in case you left it open and the smell came from one of your neighbors in the apartment. Seeing that the windows were shut, you wondered where the smell came from and decided to check.

You (reluctantly) got up the bed and was just about to put on your slippers when the door to your room suddenly opened, revealing Haechan with a tray of food.

"Where are you going? Lie back in bed," Haechan said as he pointed to your bed with his lips, softly closing the door behind him with his foot.

You sat still on your bed in shock, confused as to why your boyfriend's in your apartment. Maybe it was just another extremely reaslistic type of dream, you thought, until he made his way to your bedside table and put down the tray.

"Are you seeing things? No. What am I doing here? To take care of your stubborn ass that I love. When did I get here? Half an hour ago. What about my schedules? They're all done and I don't have any other schedules for the next few days. What if I catch your cold? Doesn't matter." Haechan said with both arms on his hips and a smug look on his face.

"There, I've answered your questions, now lie back so I can start feeding you, naughty girl."

You blinked at him before snorting at his response in disbelief. Haechan just knew you too well.

You lie back in bed, adjusting yourself so you could sit comfortably. You looked up at Haechan, who was now sitting on your bed and pouring a glass of lemon water for you.

"I can't believe you're actually here..." you mumbled, affectionately placing a hand on Haechan's thighs. "Thanks, babe."

He put down the pitcher and held your hand tightly, heaving a worried sigh before looking at you softly.

"Don't worry about it, my love." he said as he softly brushed his thumb across your hand. "Just focus on getting better soon so we can go on a fun date, okay?"

You mouthed another thank you before Haechan picked up a spoonful of hot porridge, gently blew on it, and brought it to your mouth with his other hand positioned below to catch any spills.

"Mm, this tastes so delicious." you said, finally getting the source of the delicious smell earlier.

Although Haechan didn't usually cook for his members, he was actually pretty good. When you asked him about it some time ago, he said he can cook almost anything as long as there's a recipe he can follow.

"Glad to know. Eat up so you can take your meds and rest," he said as he brought another spoonful to your mouth. "Speaking of meds, when was the last time you took them?"

You actually forgot and just smiled sheepishly at him in response.

"Unbelievable." Haechan groaned and rolled his eyes at you in disbelief.

After eating and taking the medicine Haechan bought, he made you lie down in bed to rest as he scribbled down on your notepad.

"There," he said triumphantly. He brought the notepad to your face, showing a timetable he created for all of your medicine. "Oh, wait. I don't trust you enough, so I'm also going to set some alarms."

You only groaned in response, already dreading the amount of times your phone's going to blow off from all the alarms.

Haechan took your phone from the bedside table. A soft smile appeared on his face as soon as he saw your lockscreen—it was the very first picture you took together as a couple. The picture showed only your hands that was brought together to form a heart.

His smile grew bigger after he scanned his thumb on your phone for access, revealing his face as your wallpaper. It was a picture from one of his photoshoots that he loved.

"Aren't you such a big fan of me?" he chuckled teasingly. You chuckled dryly as a response but smiled after. Of course you love him with all your heart and soul. He's your everything.

"I seriously don't know what else I'm going to do with you if you still forget to take your meds after this." he said as he placed your phone back on the table. "I made sure the volume's in max."

"Should I be ready to get evicted from this place for noise complaints?" you asked jokingly. Haechan chuckled with a smirk before lying in bed with you. He placed his arm under your neck, bringing you closer, and you adjusted yourself comfortably in his arms.

"I'm really worried you're gonna catch a cold." you mumbled into his warm embrace, also taking in his sweet scent that you missed a lot. Haechan rubbed your back softly.

"I already told you, baby," he quietly said. "It hurts my heart to see you like this. I'd rather get sick than to leave you alone."

"I'm really sorry..." you responded, suddenly feeling guilt wash over you. You knew it was quite difficult for Haechan to manage between his schedules and personal life, so for him to come running to take care of you instead of resting or doing something relaxing in his free time made you feel guilty.

Haechan clicked his tongue in disapproval before gently placing his hand on your head and running his fingers through your hair soothingly.

"Don't even start." he softly reprimanded. "Just listen to me this time and focus on getting better, okay? I'm the happiest when you're healthy."

A comfortable silence filled the room for a moment, with Haechan's fingers still running through your hair.

"Anyway, I'm always going to be here for you. If you get sick again, then I'll just take care of you again." he added.

You didn't want to make him worried anymore, so you just hummed in response, feeling so grateful to have him by your side. Haechan placed a soft kiss on your forehead and started singing softly, his sweet voice being the last thing you hear before drifting off to sleep.

How do you feel?” Sitting on your couch with your best friend, drinking and eating whatever snacks were in your cabinet, You sat and took it all in. “It feels unreal woo, like i'm graduating. That's wild. Kinda sad my parents couldn’t make it but at least you and Hyuk will be there.” Wooyoung sighed and turned to face you completely. “I still don’t get why you’re dating him. He barely passed college. He uses everyone hes around, y/n. He didn’t have the best reputation in college or highschool. I also heard that he and his ex didn’t end too well..”

You playfully punch wooyoung and shake your head. “Hey, he's nice. And so far nothing has been wrong. He cares, he’s gonna get a better job after i graduate so the two of us can live comfortably. “Y/n! Oh my god you did it– I'm so proud of you!” That's all you heard all day from everyone. Graduating from medical school is a big achievement. Hearing people be so proud of you at your graduation was something you always wanted to hear. Wooyoung wrapped you in a big hug. “Y/n, I've never been prouder.”

“Thanks woo. Have you seen Hyuck?” Wooyoung gave the biggest face of disgust at you when you asked where your current boyfriend was. Congratulations!” He hands you a bouquet of flowers similar to Wooyoungs, but instead it's filled with different flowers that aren’t your favorite. Who were you staring at earlier?” You asked, his face seemed to get sadder before he answered. “No one important, just someone I used to be close to.” You open your mouth to say something when you get cut off by someone calling your name. “Y/n!” you look over and see a man with hair cut nicely, dressed in a button up and black slacks. Next to him was a man around the same height with a pointer nose, dressed similarly. “Jen! I didn’t think you’d make it.” You back away from Donghyuk and hug your cousin, Jeno.

“I wouldn’t miss something like this. Never. I hope you don’t mind, I brought a friend. This is Seokmin, Seokmin, this is my cousin, Y/n.” Seokmin smiled, his smile was bright and warm. He shook your hand and congratulated you. You smiled back and accepted his congrats.

You turn back to your boyfriend, and yet again you see him staring. But this time, you make out who he's staring at. Your friend, Yoonah. Did they know each other? “Yoonah!” You call out to her, she's quick to notice you. It doesn’t take too long for her to notice Donghyuk behind Jeno and Seokmin. The moment she begins to walk closer, Donghyuk excuses himself. He gave you a kiss on your forehead and told you he was going to go collect the others so they could all head out to eat. He left without looking back at Yoonah and went to find the people who came to support you. Jeno and Seokmin followed him.

“Donghyuk? He’s a nice guy.” Yoonah speaks up once he’s out of the way. She’s holding a small card in her hand. “Oh yeah, we’ve been dating for a couple months. He’s nice, do you know him?” Yoonah goes to answer but instead decides to shake her head. “My friends were friends with him, but they had a falling out.” “Ah– I see.” you come to the conclusion that the two were a part of the same friend group.

Yoonah looks down at your hands and notices Donghyuk’s bouquet of flowers. “I didn't know you liked hydrangeas too! They’re my favorite flowers, they're very peaceful. Theyre in the perfect arrangement, you know? the pinks match perfectly with the oranges and yellows.” You nod in agreement, but those aren’t your favorite flower, nor your favorite colors. Wooyoung walks up to you and tells you everyone's waiting. You say your farewells to Yoonah and leave with Donghyuk to the restaurant, Wooyoung and the others following behind.

Dinner went well, everyone had fun. You held hands with Donghyuk under the table. You notice him using his phone more than normal. You’d ask him about it later and just enjoy the presence of everyone for the rest of the day. In the end, You went home with Donghyuk. Wooyoung went back to your shared apartment. When you got home, the two of you immediately crashed in each other's arms. You both were very tired from the day.

It didn’t take long for you to be woken up by the many messages Donghyuk kept getting on his phone. Eventually you decided to grab the phone and look to see what was happening and for what reasons. You didn’t think you’d see him talking about Yoonah to his friends. Nor did you think you’d see that she was his ex. Nor that he had given her that card at graduation. Nor that he had been using you as a rebound this entire time to get over her. Which he hadn’t, he’s still in love with her.

You felt your world crumble. Like nothing more was left. The man sleeping next to you, had been leading you on and using you for a sense of closure. You and your boyfriend Haechan got nintendo switches together and he's recently been obessed with Mario kart and you ,being his s/o , ooobviously have to play it with him.

The only problem is, you're absolutely terrible at it so he has to teach you how to play before he can even allow you to play with him and his friends (Johnny, Jisung and Jeno). You have no interest in playing with his gaming squad who's names all suspiciously begin with the letter J. But the main driving force which got you sitting on his bed with the controler( that he  bought for you for his house) in hand was the determination to beat him after you came 12th (last place) out of him and all the cpus (basically computer players, you play against but theyre not actual people).

Instead of him explaining to you all the controls and the game, he decided that the best way for you to learn was to throw you into the deepend on the fastest race mode with cpus. You two were going to play 12 matches, with the last one predetermined by Hyuck as 'rainbow road' (every mario kart players worst nightmare). You begin to choose your characters and haechan chooses Bowser because you said he looks ugly and scary. You choose Rosalina (because you have taste of course) and she was one of the only human characters available 😭😭

Hyuck starts the tournament and you two with all of the other cpus are all lined up in a straight line.

Everyone speeds off ahead of you leaving you in last place, in the first 5 seconds

'THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENCE WHAT' You exclaim already ready to quit the game, he leans over you to move your thumb over the A button on the right side of the controller and explains that you have to hold down A when it says 2! to in order to accelerate.

Out of rage you restart the game and you're back to the begining, but now you have that trick up your sleeve, nothing can stop you! 3, 2, you audibly press A, 1, GO! Now you're zooming off with everyone else and a victorious grin displays itself on your pretty face knocking Haechan from 1st to third cuz he's lowkey whipped for you as you chaotically purposefully bash into other cpus, you were 8th place making your way to the top ' I'm coming for you' you annouce which he just scoffs in reply.

A few miles ahead, there are these floating boxes which you avoid and run over the speed up as you think that they were something bad, only to see Haechan shoot right through it. Regardless, you were ahead of him. 'What's that' you ask as you see the wheel of different powerups spin at the top of his screen, it lands on a red shell 'wanna find out?' 'Go on then' you reply unimpressed. He makes his way over to you and throws the red shell which follows your kart until it hits your character and stops you in your tracks, taking you down four ranks in the leaderboard as the other players unnessicarily throttle themselves into your helpless character. 'WHAT WAS THAT FOR!' 'DID YOU NOT WANT TO SEE WHAT IT WAS' you roll your eyes but start grinning cheekily as you just recieved your powerup which was a green shell, you somehow caught up to him and threw it at his character only for it to bounce right off of a random object that was apart of the map and hit a player behind you. Your face filled with horror and dissapointment 'What the fuck was that' 'green shells go anywhere, only red shells target the person directly infront of you. ' 'all of these rules are pissing me off, what is this game' you say rolling your eyes in frustration while leaning your whole body into the screen to focus.

Haechan is back at first place and you hear an almost whistle noise as his character finishes the 3rd, final lap of that course, leaving you dumbfounded as bowser does a disgusting celebration animation around the track that Haechan replicates to get a reaction out of you. Which you retort by pushing his face away from you and starting the next match.

9 lost matches later, you've given up on winning through skill, you're willing to anything, absolutely anything to beat this jerk. You have to play dirty, super dirty. So, when the game starts, you ready one of Haechans pillows in your hand. 3! You smack him across the face with the fluffy pillow and almost like a movie feathers come out You quickly grab your controller and hold the A button to accelerate at 2!, 1! Haechan presses accelerate too late at GO! He's left in your dust, smoke coming out of his engine as he's stationary for 2 seconds for accelerating to late meanwhile, you're in steady 3th place. 'WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM' you stick your tongue out as you tokyo drift around the corner and secure 2rd place.

Climbing the ranks, you throw a red shell atthe cpu who was in 1st place making you! FIRST PLACE! With only a few seconds before your beautiful victory which was only 10 races late, this being your 11th. As the finish line is in sight, you're thinking about the funny annoying victory line you're going to scream in his face; 'maybe you could be better than me one day' no 'I was only warming up' no 'you're lucky I let you win, the first 10 matches'; when he lets out a small, evil chuckle. That wasn't a good sign, not from Hyuck.

He was in 2nd place right behind you and hadn't used his powerup from his mystery box yet, you just assumed it was something useless like a banana peel or something until, just as you're about to cross the finish line, you're character has this flying blue thing over her head and a loud warning siren is ringing through the speakers until a large blue cloud of an explosion engulfs your screen and the wicked laugh haechan had been hiding comes out in full fury. 'LEE HAECHAN' He's wiping a tear away from his eye as Bowser crosses the finish line doing that annoying animation which he soon copies in your face, pissing you off even further. 'Blue shells fly straight to the 1st person in the race regardless of what rank you are in! Har har har' he says in a mocking tone.

Consumed with genuine anger, you take it out on him by repeatedly hitting him with the pillow that was previously fired at his face, standing on your knees as he's curled up in a ball before finding his feet and grabbing another pillow, which basically turns into a pillow fight between the two of you. You grab two pillows and tightly shut your eyes as you windmill hit Haechan picturing bowser as you do so only until you notice you're not landing any hits. You squint your eye to see only a glimpse of him leaping at you with his arms reaching your middle until your head hits his bed. You're laying on your back with haechan ontop of you 'I didn't realise you'd actually get mad.' He says as he attempts to place wet kisses on your cheeks while you try to push him away 'GROSS HAECHAN' was all you could make out between your giggles, you couldn't be mad at him. "I'm sorrrrrrry" he coos "sorry for what" "sorry for being better at you in mario kart!" He beams as he starts doing bowsers dance again, recieving another pillow to the face.
