Ranking the Ace Attorney main cast on whether or not I think they'd be a narc
I was making a more coherent, serious post about the different approaches to justice each of the characters have and how that is shaped by their backstory... and then I realized a funnier question is what they would do if they saw you eating a weed brownie so I made this post instead
Phoenix: In the trilogy era, yes. He trusts people, but believes that trust has to be built on pursuing justice and always accepting the harsh reality. He'd be sad about it, but a narc nonetheless. In his Beanix era he's making his money through "totally legal gambling" and on the hunt for questionably legal evidence so I have no doubt in my mind there's a pot farm under the WAA for supplemental income. He gives up his narc ways and for that I salute him
Apollo: If I were to pick a single member of this cast who is NOT invited to the rotation it would be him. He had zero hesitation throwing Kristoph to the wolves after working for him for years so I know he has absolutely zero qualms about ratting out his friends or coworkers. Loyalty means nothing in the eyes of justice and it means nothing to him. He's a narc.
Athena: She's gonna lecture you and look all sad about it, but she's no snitch. She's been through the rounds with Simon so she gets it. Having to know you hurt her feelings is enough of a punishment in her eyes
Edgeworth: He's not a narc but he IS obsessed with being right, so if you don't immediately fess up with exactly what you're doing he's going to send your stoned ass to the chess dimension and honestly I think that's worse
Franziska: Unfortunately she is a cop. Narc.
Godot: Diego-era yeah he's a narc, but after the coma? I feel like he has better things to worry about, he would just ignore you. He has some soul searching to do and some grief complexes to unlearn he doesn't have the time to be a lil snitch. Post prison I think he's stoned somewhere in Kurain and chillaxing, as is his right
Klavier: Don't let his rockstar attitude fool you he's a narc and extremely annoying about it. The gavinners tour bus is dry as hell and it's all Klavier's fault. Daryan offers him a line and he gets all uppity and says "the only LINE i want you doing is the third line in the prechorus, you keep messing up the syncopation" and that's the end of that discussion
Simon: He's been in prison so he knows what's up. Not a narc. Might glare at you until you share though
Nahyuta: He's a narc and will lecture you so long about it you're tempted to turn yourself in to get out of earshot. He also never forgets and never forgives. Datz is trying to reform him but it isn't going well
Sebastian: Yes, but I think the idea of him having to turn in someone for it would make him cry so they end up comforting him instead. Kay thinks he needs to try a weed brownie
Maya: I want you to look at me and tell me she doesn't smoke weed. Not a narc
Pearl: I think if she found out that her big sister figure smoked weed she would have a heart attack. Def a narc
Trucy: I can say with absolute certainty that if you really wanted weed she could find you a dealer faster than anyone in the cast. Trucy is a magician and has grown up around a variety of people involved with some seedier institutions, she knows better than to snitch. Has not been and will never be a narc
Kay: Will help you shoplift. Not a narc
Gumshoe: A narc on principle, but would feel really bad about it and would probably let you off with a warning if you started crying or acting upset because I think he's a softie. He's not unreasonable
Ema: If you think she has even the tiniest sliver of respect for cops you're lying to yourself. Not a narc and will actively help you evade police out of principle. A homie, honestly
Fulbright: Not only is he a narc but he definitely runs the DARE program at the local highschool and is printed on half the posters they put up in the precinct. I'm also like 80% sure he doesn't actually know how weed works

Time for something literally nobody asked for — My favorite MLM ships in Ace Attorney (in no particular order) and my personal thoughts/headcanon about them and their dynamics. Yes I know these are very popular ships. I think there’s very good reason for that though because they’re all adorable. At least to me. These opinions are all my own and you’re welcome to disagree, of course! I am trash and I will not deny this. I spent way too much time thinking about this shit and writing it all out.
*ahem* Anyway…
CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE SERIES! LOOK OUT!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Phoenix Wright x Miles Edgeworth (Narumitsu/Wrightworth)
It’s easy to understand why this pairing is so extremely popular. Their love for each other runs deep and powerful, with many of their independent life decisions being influenced by the other. They pull off LOTS of grand gestures to show each other that they’re “endgame”, some of these being very dramatic (i.e. becoming a lawyer just to save someone from himself, flying across the world at the drop of a hat because one is laid up in the hospital with the sniffles), but whenever they’re together, they bicker and taunt each other like an old married couple, because they both have too much pride to admit when they’re wrong. Despite all of these over the top displays of affection, my HC (and many others’, if all the fics and fanmade comics have anything to show for it lol) is that they do break up for a while, but through it all, they never stop thinking of each other and of course they stay in touch. So very 🏳️🌈 indeed. Once they’re older and wiser, they make amends and decide they’re in it for the long haul, no matter the distance between them. They no longer make any attempt at hiding this and still battle it out in court on a regular basis (conflict of interest much?) while everyone else in attendance can’t help but notice how close they are (Nick calls Edgey “Daddy” in front of an entire courtroom, ffs). Through all the dramatic exposition and the slow burn, at the end of the day, they end up as most see them now in their 30s - a couple of lame, stubborn dads trying to raise some exceptional kids.
Apollo Justice x Klavier Gavin (Klapollo)
My absolute favorite, my OTP. Their relationship is cute, flirty and sweet like a couple of high schoolers. One tries to be very subtle about his affection and the other has never done anything subtle in his entire life. It’d be like if the hot, popular guy in school had a crush on the total fucking nerd who’s always blurting out answers in class, but said nerd is completely oblivious to his attempts at flirting and teasing him. So the hot guy writes a song about him and belts it out at the school talent show and the nerd is still like “that can’t be about me, right?” even though his name is the title of the freaking song. He’s in denial that someone like him could be the object of pining for a guy who could have anyone he wants, and is even mean to him because he feels threatened, like a stray cat cornered in an alley. Polly can “perceive” anything except for the fact that the sparkling rockstar across the courtroom has the hots for him, even though it’s totally obvious to everyone else, and that’s what makes them so cute. He’s denser than a rock and thinks he’s just being picked on while KG is twirling his hair and blushing every time they talk. When they do finally start dating, everyone around them breathes a collective sigh of relief because they were tired of watching their awkward attempts at expressing their feelings. Just kiss it out, losers!!! After some time, they love each other so much that it’s stupid and become very protective and supportive of one another. Corny in all the best ways.
Beanix x Kristoph Gavin (Krisnix)
A relationship of psychological abuse, manipulation, lies, chaos, misery and lots of kinky shit. After losing his law license due to the actions of Kristoph himself (OVER SOMETHING PETTY AS FUCK BECAUSE HE’S JUST AN EVIL BASTARD), our man Phoenix, who suspected him pretty early on, goes on a seven year bender of “grape juice”, gambling and hooking up with this guy. He needed a sugar daddy to help pay the bills, and Kris needed a plaything, and as such, their intentions are impure from the very beginning. They’re a couple of little freaks with insatiable lust and a death wish who are constantly betraying trust and going out of their way to fuck up each other’s day. The true definition of “sleeping with the enemy”, their situationship unravels in court right in front of everyone due to the scheming of both parties to try to expose the other. Truly a marvel and a work of art. 10/10.
Miles Edgeworth x Shi Long Lang (Langworth)
Whether it stems from a need to fill a void left by his ex or simply because he’s (almost) never felt such respect and admiration for the tenacity and commanding presence of another man, poor Edgey falls head over heels for the werewolf guy. There is an undeniable and dangerous chemistry between these two, mostly born of longing, but Lang prides his status as a “lone wolf” and has no interest in a relationship. These two are FWB (Furries With Benefits) for a while which Miles isn’t satisfied with, and he can’t help thinking of the powerful romance between him and his former lover (“that man”) that he just isn’t getting out of whatever this is. He breaks things off, but this hurts Lang, who coincidentally has just started to develop strong feelings for him and has grown envious of Phoenix. They remain friends, and ol’ Nick is jealous of this himself. Star crossed lovers who simply weren’t meant to be. They’re good for each other and bad for each other at the same time, and that’s what makes them fun.
Ryunosuke Naruhodo x Kazuma Asogi (Asoryuu)
There has never been a MLM ship in Ace Attorney history that could be considered canon more than these two (imo). You can see it in every interaction they have with each other. The way they LOOK at each other. The things they say and how they say them. There is so much sexual tension loaded into every moment they share together and poor Susato has no idea how to handle any of it because she loves them both SO much (it’s a classic “my best friend is banging my brother” caper!). And it’s there from the very beginning. First there’s the story of how they met. Then some of the things that Kazuma said to Ryunosuke during the first trial that made me nearly spit out my drink. All of the events that follow… stowing away on the ship, Runo doing things he never would’ve dreamed of because he so badly wanted to avenge his “partner”s “death”, and then their reunion where they both just stared each other down with hunger in their eyes. Even the trial where they were supposed to be facing off against each other as rivals, it felt like they were struggling to actually disagree with each other and I found myself thinking “oh my god, just make out already!” The funniest thing about these two is that, at least in my mind, Ryunosuke’s love is a lot more pure and innocent. He wants to hold Kazuma’s hand and kiss him sweetly under the moonlight. Kazuma wants Ryunosuke carnally. He wants to grab him by his collar and ravage his bones until they’re both struggling to breathe. Oh, the writers knew EXACTLY what they were doing with this one.
Herlock Sholmes x Yujin Mikotoba (Homumiko)
Okay, hear me out. Never thought I’d be saying “hear me out” on a post about ships but?? Whatever?? These two have such a beautiful bond together and we don’t get to see nearly enough of it. And when we do finally get to see them interact, a lot of the dialogue between them in-game is … questionable at best. I raised my eyebrows on more than one occasion. Seriously, the writers of TGAA gave us some of the best shit to work with over here. Anyway, they complement each other very well in every aspect, they never stop thinking about each other when they’re apart and they’re just plain goofy and silly. They were both single when they met and still are, so it’s not entirely implausible that they never stopped loving each other from a distance, and they already function as a family unit with Susato, Ryunosuke and Iris. If I could have any gay dads in the world I’d probably pick these two. Just saying. I love this ship and I would love to see more of it. I felt genuine sadness emanating from them when they had to go their separate ways again. It feels wrong to split them up. Plus, you know, there’s uh, this, so…
Okay that’s all lmao bye!!!!
I want to throw my hat in the ring for why Beanix specifically makes me feral! It's a direction that *looks,* at first glance, like a complete character inversion but is actually totally reasonable. Basically Phoenix appears different to us, who are "in his head" for the first trilogy, than he does to most of the people around him. We interpret him like an open book, while he actually keeps a lot of his thoughts (especially the snarky ones) to himself. He is kind and naturally trusting, but he also keeps a lot of things secret even from his closest friends (for example, not telling Maya how and why he knows Edgeworth in the first game, not telling her that Edgeworth's "dead," not telling people about Dahlia or his suspicions of Iris, etc.)
So Beanix is super, super interesting! For the first time we are seeing Phoenix as an outsider--we can't hear his thoughts, and he's acting SUPER shady. Apollo obviously doesn't trust him, he's not telling anybody anything, and by the end of AA4 we learn that he's been secretly masterminding a 7-year scheme to take down the murderous asshole who ruined his life. But also--he's so clearly still *Phoenix.* He's not just out for revenge, he wants to fix the entire unfair justice system. He loves and protects his daughter immediately, and you can see so much of his personality in her. He still believes in truth and justice, he's just...wounded. He trusted in a client and was betrayed--but he still trusts Apollo, trusts Trucy, trusts Edgeworth, even trusts Klavier I think. He's smarter and more careful than he used to be, but he was always clever and sneaky and secretive. He's just learned to apply it better.
Also he is very much a DILF. A lil scruff looks so good on him <3
Thank you for your answer! Very detailed! :)
I'm going to share my own thoughts on this because I have them...
This is an interesting take but I must be honest I don't really agree with the first paragraph. I think it's pretty normal to not want to talk about heavy stuff, it doesn't necessarily make the character cagey... There are lots of arguments like how he doesn't talk about himself much and such, but most of those are for narrative purposes so he can be a sort of neutral protagonist character. Nick only struck as secretive to a certain degree but not enough to be a defining character trait. I can see him as clever and a bit sneaky tho, that, I agree with. But I can't for the life of me picture him doing a 7 year scheme... it just felt really out of place?
In the trilogy he seemed pretty open about his opinions and was a very emotionally reactive character even outside his head and perhaps that's what I really and truly missed. I get that whatever happened would have changed him but something just... feels very off and wrong about it and this is the hill I will die on. Having Nick be some mysterious cool guy just doesn't really feel like the character I got to know, ya know?
#ace attorney#ace attorney fanart#fanart#ask#phoenix wright#beanix#I can only be ok with beanix when I see him as a seperate character and the 4th game as its own AU I am sorry#and the most I can do is be ok about it#I cant be the only person who thinks like this
Please info dump to me about Swap!Kris.
i never saw this and also i died 💀
anyway! canonically owns a hot pink bend and snap sweatshirt and has been woken up at 3am by daryan crescend on multiple occasions. has worn the same outfit for seven years, as in has multiple of the same jumper/jeans/shirt and rotates between them. canonically has weed socks.
dredging up ye olde google dokumente for this jesus christ. on a more serious/lore note:
it is important to remember that i have personal beef with miles edgeworth for being an ugly fridge shaped man but mainly because i always hate the most popular characters (see sans undertale, kokichi ouma) and i can't even help it. it is also important to remember that this is not pianoforte and kristoph is still a massive bitch. basically bro was getting to big for his britches and wrightworth beat him to it. he totally would have done all his canon actions he just got got. he may in fact be worse than canon bc he would totally kill phoenix and miles personally just because he doesn't have a reputation to ruin!
anyway so kristoph gets disbarred and ends up as a violin/poker playing girlfailure. he's slightly different in that his and klavier's relationship is actually okay, as in not as manipulative (you can take the man out of the murder but not the murder out of the man) and there's no power imbalance because they’re both equally unemployed. arguably klavier is less unemployed than kristoph. klavier's band was just starting to get somewhere when kristoph got disbarred and then klavier broke under all the stress and the band fell apart. so kristoph and klavier replace phoenix and trucy, respectively.
useful context: apollo works for phoenix's successful law business, wright & co! and is unfortunately still a bit of a kris fangirl! he coincidentally engages in a yap session with klavier gavin one nice evening. and then klavier gets a call from kristoph who's like "hi i just got arrested for murder" and klavier's like "well i just made friends with a defence attorney" and apollo's like "what". fast forward and they're in the detention centre and chaos ensues in the form of swap! turnabout thingymajig my ace attorney hyperfix is long gone and i remember 0 of the case names. turnabout kristophenactshisgrandrevenge part 1.
fyi klavier is apollo’s weirdgirl who happens to be friends with the main detective, daryan crescend. if i could still write you would get evil ema skye which yk. valid crashout tbh. also because i like franziska she's randomly the klavier in this situation and also has randomly picked up trucy as HER weirdgirl. they are slightly more normal and slightly stranger respectively.
the point is that you think phoenix is pulling the canonkris "trust guys i'm so nice omg a red flag?? must have been the wind" type shit for most of the plot. until kristoph (probably) turns around and goes "HEY. you know who had legal power in ye olde days of 2019. because it's not underpaid defence attorney number three NOOO have you met his evil boyfriend" in which miles edgeworth regains some of the cunt that his fridge shouldered ass definitely needed. and no i cannot hate on him for being ugly i like kristoph and his acid yellow hair but i will anyway.
in a slightly shorter fashion kristoph was still some classist pretentious corrupt little bitch before he accidentally became the proletariat. very much the man (?) we all know and hate in canon. so he posed a threat to the Integrity Of The Law but also to both phoenix and miles so they were like "hmmm. unfortunately he's too much of a loser for a criminal record. let's fix that" and then weaponised his homosexual tendencies by being really nice to him or something LOOK I HAVEN'T FIGURED IT OUT AND I NEVER WILL. also like beanix he knows what's up and he's much much meaner about it.
kristoph has entered his i don't give a fuck about the economy or your feelings i just want revenge a la starkid's (cinder)ella (if you don't know she wants to kill everyone who wronged her). also he has the attitude that one (1) person can be mean to klavier and that is him. clearing his name isn't enough, he very much wants to fuck everyone over to the greatest possible extent. he is not too bothered about becoming a lawyer again. also he has stopped pretending to have any semblance of fashion sense and i love that for him.
he is also accident-prone as anything. he fights the police in turnabout trump and almost breaks his nose. he intermittently gets ragdolled by miles edgeworth which is arguably the most unfortunate life event he faces. he gets hit by a car in turnabout corner. he gets shot at some point during serenade. he tries to stab miles and gives himself a glass cut in the process. he has a whole laughing fit in succession and reveals himself to still be a manipulative little bitch. some kind of monologue on greater good and wrong things for the right reasons required.
apollo punches him.
actually i think he and apollo have serious beef due to one of them being a cryptic asshole and the other one being some guy who's just trying to live his life.
when asked about perjury, kristoph basically goes "lmfao. why do you think i was disbarred. idiot"
phoenix like "how much do you know" and kristoph like "oh i know that you like men if that's what you're asking. i'm not interested though"
kristoph has a lowkey perceive type beat going on with crime scenes rather than people; i call it paranoia. he notices evidence and details that others don't. eventually he learns to transfer this to people and becomes a menace.
yeah.
#ignore all the commas in the sc i had a problem#i'm over it now#ace attorney fanfiction#ace attorney#ace attorney fic#apollo justice ace attorney#ace attorney au#au#alternate universe#kristoph gavin#swapkris#you'll never guess who inspired yona zuvolde#clue his name begins with f and ends in uckface
I think Tumblr ate my last one so here.
Tis your sign to ramble to thine hearts content
I've been saving these until I have thought about something in particular to ramble about so get ready,
I am obsessed with the vibe of the Wright's being born performers. Before choosing to pursue law, Phoenix was an art student, implied to either be pursuing illustration or Shakespearian theater. I like to think that part of the appeal of criminal law for him was how dramatized everything was. It's more about weaving a story that connects all the dots provided for the evidence and witness statements than about, you know, knowledge of the law. It's about plot twists and last-minute saves and becoming the sturdy pillar for your client. Phoenix only chooses cases that are so wacky and hopeless that make for excellent stories. What I'm saying is that Phoenix lives for the drama and how the courtroom turns into a stage where he has to convince everyone else of the story he's piecing together that very moment. There's just something so theatric about yelling 'objection' and slamming the desk and making some improvised quips to taunt the guy you're arguing against.
I'm also of the opinion that the whole Beanix persona was originally intended to be more of a character that Phoenix put up to get Kristoph to believe that he had given up. It's clear that it was all about hiding his true thoughts and his identity from anyone who would recognize his spikey hair and wiggly eyebrows. He deliberately stopped wearing his iconic blue and general business casual getup and you cannot tell me that there wasn't so much thought into how he started to present himself. He's known for being highly saturated and spikey and generally pretty emotionally open so this character he built is the exact opposite of all those things and it's totally on purpose.
And just like Trucy, this character performance is a coping mechanism to keep themselves safe and seemingly confident. They both smile so convincingly and refuse to let anyone know if something is wrong. They're both manipulative but not out of malice, out of need for survival. They've both been on the wrong side of public opinion and in some capacity are aware that they're in the crosshairs of someone incredibly dangerous. They can only try to keep each other safe by playing into the act that they've worked on for years.
So sure they have to hide their true feelings under a quirky guise, but also I think they would join a community theater and be so good at it. They're in musicals together, I think Phoenix can sing, and he can sing well. He was in all his school plays and got so good at projecting his voice that they didn't even need to give him a mic (me core). That's what made him so good at objecting. I think that the ace attorney stage plays should be canon in the aa universe and Phoenix should play himself and he gets Trucy to play Pearl. He accidentally has so much homoerotic tension with the guy who plays Edgeworth that the real Edgeworth gets jealous.
Phoenix should also know about a lot of technical stuff that comes with theater, so he does a lot of the setup for lights and audio for Trucy's magic shows, he helps her move props around and should be so involved because I think that would be fun.
I also think he should know enough magic that she sometimes incorporates him into the act around their friends, so she makes a card disappear and Phoenix pulls the same one out of Edgeworth's ear. I love it when they're concerningly in sync and they can basically read each other's minds. They stare at each other and have fully silent conversations.
#they're drama kids#he looked at max galactica and Mask Demasque and got so excited for the theatrics#i think his brain is full of monologues that he's had to memorize#i don't know what plays they would be in my theater knowledge is moldy from not being touched in so long#they get to be the steel samurai and the iron infant in the steel samurai stage play using the same suit that larry did with no idea he did#i think it would be funny#that way miles could see it and get a little angry that he has so much chemistry with the guy who plays the evil magistrate#ace attorney#pheonix wright#trucy wright#the wrights#ask andromeda#aa headcanons#rambling about headcanons so i don't have to think about the sad
4-2 turnabout corner
alright finished this case and i guess i'm doing case review posts now. i'm playing this for the first time so no spoilers for future stuff please:
this was pretty fun! and for the most part the problem-solving remained coherent, so that was nice. i feel like i never got any answers about the hit and run though...? i kept expecting it to be more relevant in the end and it just never was. i guess we had no time for that because we had to talk about trucy's panties for the three billionth time
but it was the first case with trucy and first real chance to see apollo do anything, and they're pretty fun. i like unsettling baby genius trucy. even if she totally stole my glory in court because i personally had also figured this out, catch up apollo, stop thinking like a normal person
apollo as the long-suffering straightman is more entertaining than i expected. the dynamic he has with the wrights is pretty funny, just like constantly ganged up on and bamboozled by their double act. poor apollo bawling after trucy fake kidnaps herself lmfao oh buddy
beanix cracks me up. it's so easy to wind apollo up and everyone does it with gusto. i think like 80% of what he says to apollo at any given time is a lie. it's a very funny dynamic to me lmao, "if anything i see you more as a BOTHER figure". i keep thinking of a text post i saw on here, i can't even remember if it was talking about AA specifically or just fandom in general, but talking about how fandom tends to ignore the existence of relationships besides "literal family" or "lovers", and ended with "normalize coworkers". anyway i think about "normalize coworkers" like every time apollo and phoenix interact.
the game is definitely inviting me to question his integrity at all times but the thing is i like phoenix more than anyone else in this game and it's not close, so...
i said it in other posts but adult ema rules!!! i love cranky sarcastic women. related to the point above, i really appreciate having her there as the other tie to the trilogy, and as someone who knew phoenix from before and is loyal to him. same girl same.
i also like klavier, he's fun. i'm curious to know what his deal is since it's not at all apparent why he's doing any of this to me, he doesn't seem to hold any grudge on kristoph's behalf. (what, he just likes law? a normal motivation? in my AA??? is that allowed)
on more negative notes:
i could really have done without an entire running gag for the entire case being about panties and panty snatching and especially a 15 year old telling me about her panties like every line of dialogue. i get that the "joke" is that it's meant to be weird and uncomfortable and apollo is uncomfortable. but like. christ lmao free me
the alcoholic phoenix jokes are not it for me, man! feels sleazy and uncomfortable and i know the game is never even going to like. treat it seriously. they can't even say the word wine. i can excuse weird cryptid phoenix who speaks in riddles and is generally kind of an asshole but i draw the line at "alcoholic single father". fuck off lmao.
in general, a lot of the stuff they're doing with phoenix here so far is, like, tolerable to me only inasmuch as i've been spoiled for it and i also can approach it as a sort of midpoint; i know most people don't like aa5+6, and my opinion may change a bit after i play them, but right now the idea of the series ending here, with washed out (alcoholic????) loser phoenix is so bleak and depressing, and falls into a lot of sequel media tropes i find tired. you often see franchises end their original run on a high note only to follow it up years later with a sequel that's like "but it was all for nought, everyone went their separate ways and Our Hero kind of sucks now". if i'd played this unspoiled in whatever year it was it came out i'd've been so pissed lmao
UPDATE: I'm Still Here!
Hi, friends! It's been a while since I last posted to Tumblr, but I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm alive and well, and have been very busy with a whole slew of commissions.
Here's what I've been up to for the past few months:
Personal Project: Princess Peach Showtime Dress-Up Doll
I have been OBSESSED with the Princess Peach game, and so have taken it upon myself to remake ALL of her outfits (13 total!) as my next big personal sewing project. I already have the base outfit completed, as well as Swordfighter Peach and Mermaid Peach (through I still need to add her pearls). Next up will either be Detective peach or Patisserie Peach. If you have a preference for which you'd like to see first, let me know in the comments!
Commission: Phoenix Wright "Beanix" Plushie
I received another commission for a "Beanix" Phoenix Wright from the Ace Attorney series. Unlike my last one, this client wanted darker skin with stubble and blue eyes, but it's mostly identical to the last one I made. Still, always nice to see this guy in plushie form.
Commission: Mousse from Food Fantasy
Another commission I received from a VERY obscure mobile game (so obscure that I could only find 2 images of this character!) This was one of the most complex outfits I've had to do yet, with lots of little details on the boots and the belt and the cape, and the client was thrilled with the result. Although it had my head spinning at times, I enjoy the challenge of simplifying complex designs like this.
Shark Plushie
This wasn't a commission or anything. My mom wanted to learn how I make plushies, so I taught her how to make a cute little shark. <3
Commission: FFXIV Player Characters
And my most recent commission: a pair of Final Fantasy XIV avatars! These guys are Kasumi and Moe, and they are the client and his wife's characters in-game. The client requested them for his wife's birthday, and I was happy to do so. The outfits were so cute and cozy, especially the big fluffy househoes. I even included a little message in Kasumi's sweater pocket.
I have one more commission I just finished, but since the person hasn't received it yet, I'm keeping that one secret for now...
ALSO,
omg great ancient questions... 30, 31, 42
yes, a fine vintage 🍷
30. Ema Skye as she is in Rise from the Ashes or Ema Skye as she is in Apollo Justice?
definitely AJ ema!! she is literally perfect to me. i love a jaded girl who is burned out and bitter. i would get high with her. RFTA ema is cute but i'm kin with AJ ema lol
(my only critique is shared with zoe ot3: that she would NOT wear heels!!)
31. Did you like what they did to Phoenix in Apollo Justice?
i'm of two minds. i wished that shu takumi hadn't been essentially forced to put phoenix in the game, because i'm curious what aa4 would have looked like without him, but i very much respect the choice of being like "oh you're going to make me put phoenix in the game? time to make him a total shithead"
given that beanix is what he is though, i do wish they hadn't backpedaled so far in aa5 though to make him normie and palatable again! like let's see him struggle with what he stooped to! let's see apollo meaningfully confront him about it. please god can we have ANY closure at all? any continuity at all? (no)
42. Would you want to play an Ace Attorney game where you take on the prosecutors role?
nah it's already bad enough being a glorified cop as a defense attorney in these games, i don't wanna narc out any more than the game makes me do :P
UNLESS 🤓☝️ i could prosecute white collar criminals and corporations. let's save the world from fraud and corporate wage theft
I feel I interpreted the characters super different from what I sometimes see in fanon, which, fair. But I should totally try and put those readings into fanart sometime.
I thought klapollo was super different from what I see sometimes for example. And it surprised me how it changed from AA4 to the other games!
I remember thinking, (compared to Edgeworth & Wright) their flavour was more like, they were more young and open about lgbt topics, so they are both openly into each other, but Apollo doesn't like Klavier's poser attitude & thus gets pissed off when he treats him sweetly LMAO.
I think usually Apollo prefers honest and straightforward people, thus why he is soo pissed off with Beanix (because he knows he's putting on all these walls on himself).
They don't even argue in court as rivals because they already have the "we need to look for truth" question solved, because of what they went through life.
I feel AA5 & 6 were kinda cowards with their relationship because they slowly wrote Klavier off the games, and instead of working with their not conflicting relationship, they wrote Apollo as being super tsundere and hating Klavier's music so much. Like it reads less like a real relationship & something to bank off of. 😔
#not tagging in case it comes off as mean for people who like the characters#but i do like their aa4 interactions they feel very fresh & intricate#wanted to mention some alternatives to how they work in my brain and see if people agree or im delusional i guess#i want to draw dialogues from the gamess
it would've been so interesting if beanix and godot interacted. id assume godot would have healed in prison meanwhile nicks still in his flop era and is like really shady and idk man but I feel like they wouldve had a pretty deep interaction. and tbh the sex would go crazy
oh yeah i think their interactions would be batshit incomprehensible to outsiders but an in-depth analysis of that would require more brain processing than i am capable of at almost 1 AM. i will say i think when godot first gets a look at what phoenix turned into (presumably because maya would drag him to go visit godot again because god knows phoenix wouldn't do it himself. he'll be all "wah i'm defiling mia's legacy and godot's gonna call me on my shit and i hate being called on my shit") and to be entirely fair when godot gets a look at phoenix his initial reaction would probably BE something like He Is Defiling Mia's Legacy simply because to all outside perspectives phoenix essentially just. gave up. and also to be fair that is pretty much what he did (because catching kristoph was a total freebie from the universe and would never have happened if not for zak deciding to show up That Specific Night but whatever). anyway since godot more or less stable in his getting-his-shit-mostly-together era i think he would look at phoenix and sort of be reminded of how he was when he woke up from his coma but then he'd be like hey. dipshit. you're still surrounded by people who love you. he'd say all this in his usual insane cryptic coffee ways of course but again it's almost 1 AM. and phoenix is like okay you have a point there but hey that just reminded me do you want to see a picture of the awesome new daughter i got (completely fucking forgetting godot is blind. unless they let him have his visor in prison) and godot has to take two seconds to process the fact that the same man who went running across a burning bridge no fucks given is now a father. anyway so true the minute godot gets out of prison the sex goes fucking insane but before that i do think they have conversations that get so intricately......layered.......when maya is not present that the security guard listening in feels like even more of a voyeur than he would if he was standing inside the bathroom of the the horniest club on earth
I read Apollo's anxiety as, this is a guy who is uncomfortable when he's in a situation that he doesn't feel in control of, or more like, when he doesn't have enough information to understand the parameters. Consequences themselves don't scare him, so much as not knowing what they are.
Of course he's anxious in the first game, he has a string of the most uncooperative defendants we've ever seen (first Beanix, then Wocky who Apollo doesn't even get to talk to before the trial and then the guy won't stop confessing, Machi won't tell him anything, Vera barely speaks and then spends half the trial unconscious), and his only real ally is total wildcard Trucy as his assistant (and sometimes maybe whatever Klavier is doing over there?? Even though they're supposed to be enemies???). Which all has him stressed as hell, because everything is new and he doesn't know what the consequences are going to be, he can't control the outcome and he's never sure what's about to happen.
But it's also why he snaps into confidence once he starts fitting pieces together. Once he has enough information to feel like he knows what he's dealing with, he's in control. And it helps that he went through... all of that... in between. Sure, in AA4 he's freaked out talking to gangsters, he's never done that before. By AA6 he's like, What are you gonna shoot me? Good luck, someone already tried to kill me twice in one day and it didn't stick.
it baffles me to know that some people think that Apollo is some 100%-of-the-time soft anxious boy when he, under the direct and very real threat of public execution, continued to bitch out the person threatening in full seriousness to kill him (and only stopped after both Phoenix and Nahyuta begged him to shut the fuck up)
He's the embodiment of "[quote from man stabbed] 'What are you gonna do, stab me?'"
#ace attorney#apollo justice#SOJ#I've been having Apollo Thoughts lately#Like. listen to his og theme. this is a man who likes structure
Summaries of the AU's below the cut bc I know I'm going to be annoying about it
1- Set in a world that's just a bit more magical than we're used to, Trucy has actual magic, Edgeworth is a vampire, that type of thing, the first fic in this au is about 7k words in. Another important part of this AU is that Ryunosuke was Phoenix's previous form so there could potentially be fics in the TGAA era in this AU. Slow build on the lore aspect but the parallels with Edgeworth and Phoenix are going to be insane.
2- Fem!Phoenix (and Edgeworth and Larry) where a big part of the AU is that Phoenix has a stronger connection to the dead and is haunted by the ghosts of Ryunosuke and Kazuma, her spiritual abilities vary and the Magatama helps her see the ghosts around her. She's not really a Fey, her spiritual sensitivity is not due to her blood but the Fey's kind of adopted her, multiple times. The fic for this au is 18k words in and features some incredibly sapphic moments between her and Edgeworth. There was also a fic published for this au for Wright Family week.
3- Hear me out, Yatagarasu but it's Kay, Ema, and Phoenix, all working to end the dark age of the law. Big spy movie vibes. Ema is the tech guy who works as a detective for the LAPD and gets all the inside information, Kay is a full-on vigilante who sneaks into the computers and files of big important corrupt people, she narrowly escapes any confrontation with the police and is so fun about it. Phoenix is their connection to the criminal underworld through the less-than-legal happenings at the Hydeout and his accidental friendship with Viola Cadverdini.
I also think it's funny to bend his skills to make him a surprisingly good underground spy type. He's a good actor who can detect lies and can talk out of his ass for hours, he's also well known as the guy who got some of the scariest people locked away so he's got a reputation. And I want to come up with any sort of scenario where he has to act like Kay's dad for some mission and they run into Edgeworth specifically because I think I would be so funny. Anyway, badass beanix who totally sees that the girls in their early 20s that he works with are crushing on each other and is having too much fun being the distraction for their schemes.
Technically the fic I wrote where Trucy teaches Phoenix how to throw knives is part of this au. anyway, I could talk about them for hours let's move on.
4-Exactly what it says on the tin, Phoenix gets poisoned in college and loses his sight, maybe he grew up in a catholic orphanage so I can give him some classic catholic guilt, this one isn't as well thought out it's just a general vibe at this point. I just want to see Phoenix with some blue glasses who gets aided by Maya during cases and who kicks ass on the side because he doesn't completely trust the law to do what's right. He has that thing where he's so good at getting beat up. Also, poor defense attorney swag, keeps having a soft heart and taking cases pro bono. Idk I just think superhero-style AU's are fun to play with and this one made some sense.
#only press the read more if you want a look into my twisted mind (autism)#ace attorney#phoenix wright#they're all based on him im sorry he's my babygirl#Do you think Kay would be Daredevil!Phoenix's sidekick like batman and robin?#they would at least team up to wreck absolute havoc#don't worry I'll make a good poll soon#andromedas poll hell
For me there’s a few, I know this is not my ask but when you have hyperphantasia it makes this stuff easier, so you be the judge op:
Still into you- by paramore
I’ll fight- Daughtry
Sweet Dream- Bohnes
Vicious- Bohnes (Es picanté)
Gravity- against the current
Holy smokes - Bohnes (definitely in reference to dad bod beanix, from mile’s perspective)
Numbers- the cab
There’s one song that doesn’t quite fit theme wise but the name sounds like a pick up like Pheonix would TOTALLY use on miles. If you don’t already know it, it’s “I’m like a lawyer with the way I’m always trying to get you off” by fallout boy.
Do what you will with this information💜
ahhaha would you believe me if i said im not creative enough for smth like this? my music tastes aren’t varied enough to make any calls… but! recently i listened to the simple things by michael carreon and imagined nrmt that just got together :^)))
aa4-1 turnabout trump
alright i finished the first case of aa4 last night!
despite my efforts i think i'm more spoiled for aa4 than i realized, or at least most of the hanging mysteries from the first case are ones i think i already know the answer to. kind of a shame but i don't think there was any way to avoid it. oh well, this case was fun anyway. i think 3-1 is my fave tutorial case still but this one was great even if i embarrassed myself by hitting the wrong button. also after banging my head against the wall through aai for five months it was nice to play a case where i could just use my brain and solve it because all the logic made sense and clues progressed naturally lmfao. i know first case are usually the easiest, but still.
apollo seems fun enough but the real draw of this case for me was FINALLY getting to meet beanix, whose characterization i know to be somewhat controversial lol. i've enjoyed him so far although fandom primed me to expect a weird secretive asshole -- will see if that changes as the game goes on. i missed phoenix a lot playing AAI so i am clinging to his ankles. was very exciting when his musical cue started in court. get his ass nick
the forgery ace stuff is... hm. i'm reserving judgment until i finish the game. also, lmao not to reference AAI for the thousandth time, but the conclusion of its grand finale was "illegal evidence is good sometimes" so i guess we already crossed this moral event horizon.
i've also been eager to meet trucy, who didn't do much in this case but have a bug-eyed stare. one thing i'm glad to be spoiled for actually is trucy and her approximate providence because the game trying to tease that as a mystery would've bugged me so much LOL and it's very funny to play when everyone is like "you have a DAUGHTER?!" and phoenix is just like :) yeah and as the player i am probably meant to be asking all kinds of questions about what happened there when i know the truth is just
i think the biggest hurdle this game is going to have with me personally is the level of suspending disbelief i have to do that maya and edgeworth are just totally uninvolved and unhelpful while phoenix is embroiled in whatever kind of conspiracy plot is going on. on a real-world level this is almost certainly the result of the franchise wanting to pivot to new characters, so there's not much explanation beyond that. but it's a bit hard to rationalize in-universe, especially because i also know the franchise immediately goes "lol lmao nvm" in 5&6 anyway. phoenix said something in this case about needing a lawyer he could trust, in reference to apollo, and i was like yeah if only we... knew one of those....
but whatever i guess. the true gift aa4 will give me is finally being able to read all the 7yg fics i have marked for later on ao3. onwards to 4-2!
