Ranking the Ace Attorney main cast on whether or not I think they'd be a narc
I was making a more coherent, serious post about the different approaches to justice each of the characters have and how that is shaped by their backstory... and then I realized a funnier question is what they would do if they saw you eating a weed brownie so I made this post instead
Phoenix: In the trilogy era, yes. He trusts people, but believes that trust has to be built on pursuing justice and always accepting the harsh reality. He'd be sad about it, but a narc nonetheless. In his Beanix era he's making his money through "totally legal gambling" and on the hunt for questionably legal evidence so I have no doubt in my mind there's a pot farm under the WAA for supplemental income. He gives up his narc ways and for that I salute him
Apollo: If I were to pick a single member of this cast who is NOT invited to the rotation it would be him. He had zero hesitation throwing Kristoph to the wolves after working for him for years so I know he has absolutely zero qualms about ratting out his friends or coworkers. Loyalty means nothing in the eyes of justice and it means nothing to him. He's a narc.
Athena: She's gonna lecture you and look all sad about it, but she's no snitch. She's been through the rounds with Simon so she gets it. Having to know you hurt her feelings is enough of a punishment in her eyes
Edgeworth: He's not a narc but he IS obsessed with being right, so if you don't immediately fess up with exactly what you're doing he's going to send your stoned ass to the chess dimension and honestly I think that's worse
Franziska: Unfortunately she is a cop. Narc.
Godot: Diego-era yeah he's a narc, but after the coma? I feel like he has better things to worry about, he would just ignore you. He has some soul searching to do and some grief complexes to unlearn he doesn't have the time to be a lil snitch. Post prison I think he's stoned somewhere in Kurain and chillaxing, as is his right
Klavier: Don't let his rockstar attitude fool you he's a narc and extremely annoying about it. The gavinners tour bus is dry as hell and it's all Klavier's fault. Daryan offers him a line and he gets all uppity and says "the only LINE i want you doing is the third line in the prechorus, you keep messing up the syncopation" and that's the end of that discussion
Simon: He's been in prison so he knows what's up. Not a narc. Might glare at you until you share though
Nahyuta: He's a narc and will lecture you so long about it you're tempted to turn yourself in to get out of earshot. He also never forgets and never forgives. Datz is trying to reform him but it isn't going well
Sebastian: Yes, but I think the idea of him having to turn in someone for it would make him cry so they end up comforting him instead. Kay thinks he needs to try a weed brownie
Maya: I want you to look at me and tell me she doesn't smoke weed. Not a narc
Pearl: I think if she found out that her big sister figure smoked weed she would have a heart attack. Def a narc
Trucy: I can say with absolute certainty that if you really wanted weed she could find you a dealer faster than anyone in the cast. Trucy is a magician and has grown up around a variety of people involved with some seedier institutions, she knows better than to snitch. Has not been and will never be a narc
Kay: Will help you shoplift. Not a narc
Gumshoe: A narc on principle, but would feel really bad about it and would probably let you off with a warning if you started crying or acting upset because I think he's a softie. He's not unreasonable
Ema: If you think she has even the tiniest sliver of respect for cops you're lying to yourself. Not a narc and will actively help you evade police out of principle. A homie, honestly
Fulbright: Not only is he a narc but he definitely runs the DARE program at the local highschool and is printed on half the posters they put up in the precinct. I'm also like 80% sure he doesn't actually know how weed works

I think Tumblr ate my last one so here.
Tis your sign to ramble to thine hearts content
I've been saving these until I have thought about something in particular to ramble about so get ready,
I am obsessed with the vibe of the Wright's being born performers. Before choosing to pursue law, Phoenix was an art student, implied to either be pursuing illustration or Shakespearian theater. I like to think that part of the appeal of criminal law for him was how dramatized everything was. It's more about weaving a story that connects all the dots provided for the evidence and witness statements than about, you know, knowledge of the law. It's about plot twists and last-minute saves and becoming the sturdy pillar for your client. Phoenix only chooses cases that are so wacky and hopeless that make for excellent stories. What I'm saying is that Phoenix lives for the drama and how the courtroom turns into a stage where he has to convince everyone else of the story he's piecing together that very moment. There's just something so theatric about yelling 'objection' and slamming the desk and making some improvised quips to taunt the guy you're arguing against.
I'm also of the opinion that the whole Beanix persona was originally intended to be more of a character that Phoenix put up to get Kristoph to believe that he had given up. It's clear that it was all about hiding his true thoughts and his identity from anyone who would recognize his spikey hair and wiggly eyebrows. He deliberately stopped wearing his iconic blue and general business casual getup and you cannot tell me that there wasn't so much thought into how he started to present himself. He's known for being highly saturated and spikey and generally pretty emotionally open so this character he built is the exact opposite of all those things and it's totally on purpose.
And just like Trucy, this character performance is a coping mechanism to keep themselves safe and seemingly confident. They both smile so convincingly and refuse to let anyone know if something is wrong. They're both manipulative but not out of malice, out of need for survival. They've both been on the wrong side of public opinion and in some capacity are aware that they're in the crosshairs of someone incredibly dangerous. They can only try to keep each other safe by playing into the act that they've worked on for years.
So sure they have to hide their true feelings under a quirky guise, but also I think they would join a community theater and be so good at it. They're in musicals together, I think Phoenix can sing, and he can sing well. He was in all his school plays and got so good at projecting his voice that they didn't even need to give him a mic (me core). That's what made him so good at objecting. I think that the ace attorney stage plays should be canon in the aa universe and Phoenix should play himself and he gets Trucy to play Pearl. He accidentally has so much homoerotic tension with the guy who plays Edgeworth that the real Edgeworth gets jealous.
Phoenix should also know about a lot of technical stuff that comes with theater, so he does a lot of the setup for lights and audio for Trucy's magic shows, he helps her move props around and should be so involved because I think that would be fun.
I also think he should know enough magic that she sometimes incorporates him into the act around their friends, so she makes a card disappear and Phoenix pulls the same one out of Edgeworth's ear. I love it when they're concerningly in sync and they can basically read each other's minds. They stare at each other and have fully silent conversations.
#they're drama kids#he looked at max galactica and Mask Demasque and got so excited for the theatrics#i think his brain is full of monologues that he's had to memorize#i don't know what plays they would be in my theater knowledge is moldy from not being touched in so long#they get to be the steel samurai and the iron infant in the steel samurai stage play using the same suit that larry did with no idea he did#i think it would be funny#that way miles could see it and get a little angry that he has so much chemistry with the guy who plays the evil magistrate#ace attorney#pheonix wright#trucy wright#the wrights#ask andromeda#aa headcanons#rambling about headcanons so i don't have to think about the sad

UPDATE: I'm Still Here!
Hi, friends! It's been a while since I last posted to Tumblr, but I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm alive and well, and have been very busy with a whole slew of commissions.
Here's what I've been up to for the past few months:
Personal Project: Princess Peach Showtime Dress-Up Doll
I have been OBSESSED with the Princess Peach game, and so have taken it upon myself to remake ALL of her outfits (13 total!) as my next big personal sewing project. I already have the base outfit completed, as well as Swordfighter Peach and Mermaid Peach (through I still need to add her pearls). Next up will either be Detective peach or Patisserie Peach. If you have a preference for which you'd like to see first, let me know in the comments!
Commission: Phoenix Wright "Beanix" Plushie
I received another commission for a "Beanix" Phoenix Wright from the Ace Attorney series. Unlike my last one, this client wanted darker skin with stubble and blue eyes, but it's mostly identical to the last one I made. Still, always nice to see this guy in plushie form.
Commission: Mousse from Food Fantasy
Another commission I received from a VERY obscure mobile game (so obscure that I could only find 2 images of this character!) This was one of the most complex outfits I've had to do yet, with lots of little details on the boots and the belt and the cape, and the client was thrilled with the result. Although it had my head spinning at times, I enjoy the challenge of simplifying complex designs like this.
Shark Plushie
This wasn't a commission or anything. My mom wanted to learn how I make plushies, so I taught her how to make a cute little shark. <3
Commission: FFXIV Player Characters
And my most recent commission: a pair of Final Fantasy XIV avatars! These guys are Kasumi and Moe, and they are the client and his wife's characters in-game. The client requested them for his wife's birthday, and I was happy to do so. The outfits were so cute and cozy, especially the big fluffy househoes. I even included a little message in Kasumi's sweater pocket.
I have one more commission I just finished, but since the person hasn't received it yet, I'm keeping that one secret for now...
ALSO,
I've recently updated my Etsy shop with some new listings, including some physical, ready-made plushies that are priced to sell! So if you're interested in either an order or a ready-made plush, please come by my Etsy and see what I've got: https://www.etsy.com/shop/PlushieGalaxy?ref=seller-platform-mcnav#items
That's all for now. Hope everyone is doing well!

The Defense is not ready, your Honour...
🌙🪶Our main: @panged-lin
A sideblog for all the Ace Attorney discussion & fanart I happen to think of and like, respectively.
Our court record contains the following evidence:
Analysis on things that have stuck in my brain like corn kernels
Random ramblings I found amusing enough to put into words
JUSTICE!
Fanart. A lot of it. There's too much I can't not reblog...
An unusual amount of Dual Destinies-related posts. Athena and Simon have overwritten my neurological functions, to my chagrin.
Court Proceedings:
Posts that deconstruct canon & ones that discuss fanon/headcanons will be clearly denoted. Keep discussions neat and cleanly defined in the pursuit of the truth!
Reblogged ship art will always be tagged for those who wish to block/find the respective pair tags.
Parrots are permitted on the witness stand to provide testimony under extreme circumstances.
Anon asks are enabled. Any assassins that wish to give testimony may do so with complete anonymity and safety.
The Investigation games and other spinoffs are unfamiliar territory for this page. Bare that in mind!
Orcas are permitted on the witness stand under the same conditions as for a parrot to be brought to the stand.

4-2 turnabout corner
alright finished this case and i guess i'm doing case review posts now. i'm playing this for the first time so no spoilers for future stuff please:
this was pretty fun! and for the most part the problem-solving remained coherent, so that was nice. i feel like i never got any answers about the hit and run though...? i kept expecting it to be more relevant in the end and it just never was. i guess we had no time for that because we had to talk about trucy's panties for the three billionth time
but it was the first case with trucy and first real chance to see apollo do anything, and they're pretty fun. i like unsettling baby genius trucy. even if she totally stole my glory in court because i personally had also figured this out, catch up apollo, stop thinking like a normal person
apollo as the long-suffering straightman is more entertaining than i expected. the dynamic he has with the wrights is pretty funny, just like constantly ganged up on and bamboozled by their double act. poor apollo bawling after trucy fake kidnaps herself lmfao oh buddy
beanix cracks me up. it's so easy to wind apollo up and everyone does it with gusto. i think like 80% of what he says to apollo at any given time is a lie. it's a very funny dynamic to me lmao, "if anything i see you more as a BOTHER figure". i keep thinking of a text post i saw on here, i can't even remember if it was talking about AA specifically or just fandom in general, but talking about how fandom tends to ignore the existence of relationships besides "literal family" or "lovers", and ended with "normalize coworkers". anyway i think about "normalize coworkers" like every time apollo and phoenix interact.
the game is definitely inviting me to question his integrity at all times but the thing is i like phoenix more than anyone else in this game and it's not close, so...
i said it in other posts but adult ema rules!!! i love cranky sarcastic women. related to the point above, i really appreciate having her there as the other tie to the trilogy, and as someone who knew phoenix from before and is loyal to him. same girl same.
i also like klavier, he's fun. i'm curious to know what his deal is since it's not at all apparent why he's doing any of this to me, he doesn't seem to hold any grudge on kristoph's behalf. (what, he just likes law? a normal motivation? in my AA??? is that allowed)
on more negative notes:
i could really have done without an entire running gag for the entire case being about panties and panty snatching and especially a 15 year old telling me about her panties like every line of dialogue. i get that the "joke" is that it's meant to be weird and uncomfortable and apollo is uncomfortable. but like. christ lmao free me
the alcoholic phoenix jokes are not it for me, man! feels sleazy and uncomfortable and i know the game is never even going to like. treat it seriously. they can't even say the word wine. i can excuse weird cryptid phoenix who speaks in riddles and is generally kind of an asshole but i draw the line at "alcoholic single father". fuck off lmao.
in general, a lot of the stuff they're doing with phoenix here so far is, like, tolerable to me only inasmuch as i've been spoiled for it and i also can approach it as a sort of midpoint; i know most people don't like aa5+6, and my opinion may change a bit after i play them, but right now the idea of the series ending here, with washed out (alcoholic????) loser phoenix is so bleak and depressing, and falls into a lot of sequel media tropes i find tired. you often see franchises end their original run on a high note only to follow it up years later with a sequel that's like "but it was all for nought, everyone went their separate ways and Our Hero kind of sucks now". if i'd played this unspoiled in whatever year it was it came out i'd've been so pissed lmao

it would've been so interesting if beanix and godot interacted. id assume godot would have healed in prison meanwhile nicks still in his flop era and is like really shady and idk man but I feel like they wouldve had a pretty deep interaction. and tbh the sex would go crazy
oh yeah i think their interactions would be batshit incomprehensible to outsiders but an in-depth analysis of that would require more brain processing than i am capable of at almost 1 AM. i will say i think when godot first gets a look at what phoenix turned into (presumably because maya would drag him to go visit godot again because god knows phoenix wouldn't do it himself. he'll be all "wah i'm defiling mia's legacy and godot's gonna call me on my shit and i hate being called on my shit") and to be entirely fair when godot gets a look at phoenix his initial reaction would probably BE something like He Is Defiling Mia's Legacy simply because to all outside perspectives phoenix essentially just. gave up. and also to be fair that is pretty much what he did (because catching kristoph was a total freebie from the universe and would never have happened if not for zak deciding to show up That Specific Night but whatever). anyway since godot more or less stable in his getting-his-shit-mostly-together era i think he would look at phoenix and sort of be reminded of how he was when he woke up from his coma but then he'd be like hey. dipshit. you're still surrounded by people who love you. he'd say all this in his usual insane cryptic coffee ways of course but again it's almost 1 AM. and phoenix is like okay you have a point there but hey that just reminded me do you want to see a picture of the awesome new daughter i got (completely fucking forgetting godot is blind. unless they let him have his visor in prison) and godot has to take two seconds to process the fact that the same man who went running across a burning bridge no fucks given is now a father. anyway so true the minute godot gets out of prison the sex goes fucking insane but before that i do think they have conversations that get so intricately......layered.......when maya is not present that the security guard listening in feels like even more of a voyeur than he would if he was standing inside the bathroom of the the horniest club on earth

I read Apollo's anxiety as, this is a guy who is uncomfortable when he's in a situation that he doesn't feel in control of, or more like, when he doesn't have enough information to understand the parameters. Consequences themselves don't scare him, so much as not knowing what they are.
Of course he's anxious in the first game, he has a string of the most uncooperative defendants we've ever seen (first Beanix, then Wocky who Apollo doesn't even get to talk to before the trial and then the guy won't stop confessing, Machi won't tell him anything, Vera barely speaks and then spends half the trial unconscious), and his only real ally is total wildcard Trucy as his assistant (and sometimes maybe whatever Klavier is doing over there?? Even though they're supposed to be enemies???). Which all has him stressed as hell, because everything is new and he doesn't know what the consequences are going to be, he can't control the outcome and he's never sure what's about to happen.
But it's also why he snaps into confidence once he starts fitting pieces together. Once he has enough information to feel like he knows what he's dealing with, he's in control. And it helps that he went through... all of that... in between. Sure, in AA4 he's freaked out talking to gangsters, he's never done that before. By AA6 he's like, What are you gonna shoot me? Good luck, someone already tried to kill me twice in one day and it didn't stick.
it baffles me to know that some people think that Apollo is some 100%-of-the-time soft anxious boy when he, under the direct and very real threat of public execution, continued to bitch out the person threatening in full seriousness to kill him (and only stopped after both Phoenix and Nahyuta begged him to shut the fuck up)
He's the embodiment of "[quote from man stabbed] 'What are you gonna do, stab me?'"
#ace attorney#apollo justice#SOJ#I've been having Apollo Thoughts lately#Like. listen to his og theme. this is a man who likes structure

i need to hear you talk about krisnix
What why? I'm totally normal about them ahahahahahhaha..haha.. 😞
Okay so I don't waste hours of my time (Future Mav: LIAR) and yours: I love them, your honour. It's not a relationship anyone should put up with in real life so there is a shock and appeal to their dynamic that none of the other main ships can offer. Krisnix ooze venom, animosity, and this indescribable tension that's fascinating to see blossom in these two powerhouse attorney's dynamic. The pair is just so damn diabolical, manipulative, and ideally comes with so much psychological horror that makes you question your own sanity and realise how quickly you would lose the game if you were swapped out with either of them. Underneath it all though, Krisnix is basically a pathetic pissing contest between two cunning individuals and that's stupid enjoyable for me to watch from the sidelines. I love how many different routes people can take with their actual romantic relationship too. Is it all an act? Rivals with benefits? Do they care about each other? Are they just keeping their enemies close and maybe at some point took the saying a little too literally?? Are there genuine feelings there after 7 years and one or both of them absolutely hate themselves for it??? So many possibilities and it's so riveting to think about. Like, 7 years is a LONG TIME to put up with someone purely out of spite. These idiots routinely ate dinner together in canon for crying out loud! Neither of them seem the type to happily put up with that with zero gain or case development for that long. (For my own reference: My longest relationship was almost 8 years and while it feels like no time at all looking back in the present, if I sit down and truly dissect it so much positive and negative change and development took place during that timeframe that it's actually quite jarring. I think that's one of the things that makes it hard for me to believe that nothing happened between them.) Kristoph is such an enigma and so full of sinister potential that his clash with an established bleeding heart like Phoenix is so compelling. I honestly have a hard time describing their appeal and always feel like there is more that I just.. can't quite put into words. So hopefully even an ounce of this makes a lick of sense outside of my head.
On the flip side, I will say I'm not the biggest fan of every portrayal of the ship. I feel like some people lean too heavy on physical domestic abuse (not talking BDSM. I don't want it misconstrued that I see these as one and the same since I believe there is also a large chunk of BDSM!krisnix out there) and completely neglect the brilliant minds at play. Or focus too much on making Phoenix an absolute pushover like he's too dumb to catch on to even the bare minimum attempts of Kristoph manipulating him. To be honest, some of these feels like throwing Dahlia-era Phoenix at Kristoph and it's like.. hmmm.... noooo. He's not that same person if you're writing for Beanix. I think that would probably be my personal gripes with the pairing if I had to be critical of it. There is a fine balance to their dynamic that's hard to capture, in my opinion. Like I don't even feel I could properly do them justice outside of memeing it up. Which is partially why I haven't done any real art for the pair despite them being one of my personal favourite and being all too aware that they have little to no content. They are like the definition of "It's Complicated" and I love canonically knowing how the story starts and ends. But that 7-year gap is just a juicy wealth of knowledge soup that I and others can throw whatever the fuck we want into it and boy does almost every spoonful taste delicious.
...Well that was more than I expected to write. ENJOY. Feel free to let me know your krisnix thoughts as well!
#asks#roundhousekickingheight#ask game#thanks for the ask!#krisnix#hopefully that wasn't disappointing since two of y'all asked for my take :')#Open to giving my opinions on other ships still but they definitely won't be this long I'm sorry pfft#ace attorney#aa#kristoph gavin#phoenix wright#beanix

ace attorney characters and whether or not they smoke weed [non comprehensive]
Edgeworth: No. He doesn't know where to get it and he's too awkward to ask
Phoenix: Did hard drugs in college. Started smoking weed after the disbarment. Look at Beanix and tell me he doesn't have a joint in hand 24/7
Gumshoe: No. He thinks it's still illegal in California.
Maya: Prefers the village's strong magic mushrooms tradition, but does smoke weed in the office. Gets hella munchies
Klavier: No. It's a federal crime, and he believes in the supremacy clause. Total narc.
Apollo: Tried it once in college and got extremely paranoid. Started using it medically after the courthouse bombing because his wounds cause him chronic pain and he's scared of getting hooked on opioids
Athena: Yes, in vape form
Ema: are you KIDDING me ABSOLUTELY
Simon: before he got imprisoned he did DARE programs and then went home to smoke the FATTEST roach
Fulbright: Doesn't know what weed is and no one wants to tell him
Sebastian: No. Has drank bong water
Godot: No. Prefers stimulants
Franziska: No, but she should
Larry: You'd think so, but actually, no. Not regularly, at least. It makes him overemotional
The Judge: No.

Greetings!
I think this question is perfect for yours truly.
Defence attorney Miles Edgeworth and Prosecutor Phoenix Wright. Due to some weird supernatural incident they both find themselves in different roles. It's essentially the cliché body-swap-but-each-person-retains-their-own-minds that we've seen all too often in media. Do you have any headcanons, thoughts or similar as to what it would look like if their roles were reversed? We have already seen Edgeworth take on the role of a defence attorney temporarily, and I think he was quite good. Also, what about their dynamic?
I know this may be a question that you possibly need to think about first, so please take as much time as you'd like, or if you don't want to answer it at all, you can definitely let me know in a PM. I don't mind. <3
Thank you and best wishes,
Zieksy
...WAIT ZIEKSY DO YOU NOT KNOW IM WORKING ON A ROLESWAP AU RIGHT NOW? THATS SO CRAZY. read more because i went ham on this response i got so excited
the general premise is that in this au, because theres a bunch of prosecutor phoenix von karma fics out there (complete respect to them, but i don't want to steal anyone's dead horse) is that when phoenix's parents die around the same time as dl-6 occurs in canon, he ends up being taken in by the hawthornes. i wanted to experiment with phoenix's own past instead of just totally switching him with edgeworth, and i love dahlia she's like. Antagonist of All Time. so i wanted to play around with her and what sort of effect she would have if her relationship with phoenix (to clarify, it is a sibling relationship as opposed to a romantic one) was a) actually her, and b) far more significant than an 8 month college romance, with all the complicated messiness of having a family member who is Not a good person but they are your family.
phoenix's defining tenet is his belief in others and his ability to trust them, and while his relationship with dahlia in canon most likely affected that as well it's not really touched upon in detail. something like that would absolutely be seriously damaged by dahlia's hot-and-cold personality as a result of her (imo/hc) npd, as well as her "death" and the subsequent realization that she was alive all along and never told him because she didn't trust him with the secret, because he was too open and honest. after she gets away with killing fawles and valerie hawthorne, phoenix's motivation to become a prosecutor has to do with making sure criminals like her aren't able to evade conviction. it's not quite edgeworth and von karma's "there is no way to determine guilt so we need to prove every defendant is guilty" but more "you cannot put your faith in others to do what they need to do, evidence is everything and people will lie, and i refuse to let criminals escape when their guilt is evident no matter what"
it is also well known that i am a wh*re for beanix wright, so i wanted to utilize that jaded, skeptical element of his characterization. therefore of COURSE prosecutor phoenix has a poker gimmick--if he's not slouched against the bench with his hands in his trouser pockets, he's fiddling with poker chips or a deck of cards. he's almost emotionless, a permanent poker face with just a slight air of smugness. as for his design, i was genuinely thinking "what could be hot and fun" so i have him in a red waistcoat with brass buttons in the shape of the four suits, messy hair and stubble, and a dress shirt with lace decals and no tie. very not-phoenix, which was the intent.
one of the biggest things i wanted to do with this au is address what the potential effects of enduring abuse from someone with narcissism, especially a loss of self-esteem and a loss of identity. when phoenix is taken in by the hawthornes (not out of the kindness of their hearts but more out of obligation) his surname is changed and with dahlia isolating him he really does lose a lot of the stuff that makes him phoenix, in the same way that aa4 phoenix is recognizable but still so different than his character from the trilogy. the red waistcoat of course shows that switch, but phoenix still goes by hawthorne and wears lace (like dahlia) in acknowledgement that more of his life has been spent as phoenix hawthorne than phoenix wright, and the child he once was is not something he can reclaim. that isn't someone he can be again, ever.
oh my god that was all about phoenix. just know you asked for this.
SO WITH EDGEWORTH the accident on december 28th did actually happen, but when von karma was shot by the ricocheting bullet he basically went "fuck this," cut his losses, and dipped instead of shooting gregory. greg ends up with some minor cerebral hypoxia that sometimes affects his motor coordination and short-term memory, so even though miles passes the bar around the same time as canon, he works as his father's co-counsel for 4/5 years. also, because i love her, after byrne faraday's death greg adopts kay so she is edgeworth's little sibling and is actually the defendant in his first solo case. because i am a lunatic i have. all new cases planned. but this is getting so, so long so i wont go into that rn.
he's not so much cold or distant but he is awkward, greg's definitely the heart of their lawyerly duo because he can talk to witnesses without accidentally being too brusque and offending someone. still overly formal, but he loses that rigidity quickly when he's around his family and close friends. one thing i wanted to make sure of is that while he's awkward, he Is still confident in his abilities as a lawyer--think a mix of apollo and post-seven year gap edgeworth. i of course have him in a trench coat, as well as a pretty basic charcoal three-piece and a (tastefully!) blue ascot, because i hate bowties but i wanted to give him dorky neckwear. this contrast of color was literally just because it was fun and i have feenie in red.
AS FOR THEIR DYNAMIC, it's a lot more stilted than in canon. their relationship in canon was built on that childhood connection and phoenix chasing after edgeworth, but that's not the case here. they were important to each other, and edgeworth can't brush that off, but phoenix views miles as a representation of the person who he once was and is not allowed to be anymore. but phoenix is still phoenix, so even when miles pushes only the slightest bit he folds, but his inability to trust edgeworth (even though he wants to) is a huge barrier to the development of their relationship. it's edgeworth's drive in court to unravel the truth and how he values believing in other people that leads phoenix to think about the person he's become. despite not being able to be phoenix wright anymore he still views edgeworth as a paragon of justice and goodness like he did when he was phoenix wright, and if edgeworth believes in that despite everything, if edgeworth believes in him despite everything, edgeworth must be right.
jesus fucking christ i am so sorry. you literally asked this at like. Peak thinking about this au time so you get ten thousand words about it. thank you for asking zieksy you're my moon and stars
#prosecutor phoenix hawthorne#under the cut is word vomit about this au. it's a heavy read.#abuse tw#i talk abt dahlia super quick in there#hot tybalt content

For me there’s a few, I know this is not my ask but when you have hyperphantasia it makes this stuff easier, so you be the judge op:
Still into you- by paramore
I’ll fight- Daughtry
Sweet Dream- Bohnes
Vicious- Bohnes (Es picanté)
Gravity- against the current
Holy smokes - Bohnes (definitely in reference to dad bod beanix, from mile’s perspective)
Numbers- the cab
There’s one song that doesn’t quite fit theme wise but the name sounds like a pick up like Pheonix would TOTALLY use on miles. If you don’t already know it, it’s “I’m like a lawyer with the way I’m always trying to get you off” by fallout boy.
Do what you will with this information💜
ahhaha would you believe me if i said im not creative enough for smth like this? my music tastes aren’t varied enough to make any calls… but! recently i listened to the simple things by michael carreon and imagined nrmt that just got together :^)))

Summaries of the AU's below the cut bc I know I'm going to be annoying about it
1- Set in a world that's just a bit more magical than we're used to, Trucy has actual magic, Edgeworth is a vampire, that type of thing, the first fic in this au is about 7k words in. Another important part of this AU is that Ryunosuke was Phoenix's previous form so there could potentially be fics in the TGAA era in this AU. Slow build on the lore aspect but the parallels with Edgeworth and Phoenix are going to be insane.
2- Fem!Phoenix (and Edgeworth and Larry) where a big part of the AU is that Phoenix has a stronger connection to the dead and is haunted by the ghosts of Ryunosuke and Kazuma, her spiritual abilities vary and the Magatama helps her see the ghosts around her. She's not really a Fey, her spiritual sensitivity is not due to her blood but the Fey's kind of adopted her, multiple times. The fic for this au is 18k words in and features some incredibly sapphic moments between her and Edgeworth. There was also a fic published for this au for Wright Family week.
3- Hear me out, Yatagarasu but it's Kay, Ema, and Phoenix, all working to end the dark age of the law. Big spy movie vibes. Ema is the tech guy who works as a detective for the LAPD and gets all the inside information, Kay is a full-on vigilante who sneaks into the computers and files of big important corrupt people, she narrowly escapes any confrontation with the police and is so fun about it. Phoenix is their connection to the criminal underworld through the less-than-legal happenings at the Hydeout and his accidental friendship with Viola Cadverdini.
I also think it's funny to bend his skills to make him a surprisingly good underground spy type. He's a good actor who can detect lies and can talk out of his ass for hours, he's also well known as the guy who got some of the scariest people locked away so he's got a reputation. And I want to come up with any sort of scenario where he has to act like Kay's dad for some mission and they run into Edgeworth specifically because I think I would be so funny. Anyway, badass beanix who totally sees that the girls in their early 20s that he works with are crushing on each other and is having too much fun being the distraction for their schemes.
Technically the fic I wrote where Trucy teaches Phoenix how to throw knives is part of this au. anyway, I could talk about them for hours let's move on.
4-Exactly what it says on the tin, Phoenix gets poisoned in college and loses his sight, maybe he grew up in a catholic orphanage so I can give him some classic catholic guilt, this one isn't as well thought out it's just a general vibe at this point. I just want to see Phoenix with some blue glasses who gets aided by Maya during cases and who kicks ass on the side because he doesn't completely trust the law to do what's right. He has that thing where he's so good at getting beat up. Also, poor defense attorney swag, keeps having a soft heart and taking cases pro bono. Idk I just think superhero-style AU's are fun to play with and this one made some sense.
#only press the read more if you want a look into my twisted mind (autism)#ace attorney#phoenix wright#they're all based on him im sorry he's my babygirl#Do you think Kay would be Daredevil!Phoenix's sidekick like batman and robin?#they would at least team up to wreck absolute havoc#don't worry I'll make a good poll soon#andromedas poll hell

aa4-1 turnabout trump
alright i finished the first case of aa4 last night!
despite my efforts i think i'm more spoiled for aa4 than i realized, or at least most of the hanging mysteries from the first case are ones i think i already know the answer to. kind of a shame but i don't think there was any way to avoid it. oh well, this case was fun anyway. i think 3-1 is my fave tutorial case still but this one was great even if i embarrassed myself by hitting the wrong button. also after banging my head against the wall through aai for five months it was nice to play a case where i could just use my brain and solve it because all the logic made sense and clues progressed naturally lmfao. i know first case are usually the easiest, but still.
apollo seems fun enough but the real draw of this case for me was FINALLY getting to meet beanix, whose characterization i know to be somewhat controversial lol. i've enjoyed him so far although fandom primed me to expect a weird secretive asshole -- will see if that changes as the game goes on. i missed phoenix a lot playing AAI so i am clinging to his ankles. was very exciting when his musical cue started in court. get his ass nick
the forgery ace stuff is... hm. i'm reserving judgment until i finish the game. also, lmao not to reference AAI for the thousandth time, but the conclusion of its grand finale was "illegal evidence is good sometimes" so i guess we already crossed this moral event horizon.
i've also been eager to meet trucy, who didn't do much in this case but have a bug-eyed stare. one thing i'm glad to be spoiled for actually is trucy and her approximate providence because the game trying to tease that as a mystery would've bugged me so much LOL and it's very funny to play when everyone is like "you have a DAUGHTER?!" and phoenix is just like :) yeah and as the player i am probably meant to be asking all kinds of questions about what happened there when i know the truth is just
i think the biggest hurdle this game is going to have with me personally is the level of suspending disbelief i have to do that maya and edgeworth are just totally uninvolved and unhelpful while phoenix is embroiled in whatever kind of conspiracy plot is going on. on a real-world level this is almost certainly the result of the franchise wanting to pivot to new characters, so there's not much explanation beyond that. but it's a bit hard to rationalize in-universe, especially because i also know the franchise immediately goes "lol lmao nvm" in 5&6 anyway. phoenix said something in this case about needing a lawyer he could trust, in reference to apollo, and i was like yeah if only we... knew one of those....
but whatever i guess. the true gift aa4 will give me is finally being able to read all the 7yg fics i have marked for later on ao3. onwards to 4-2!
