My mom never grew out of her “mean high school girl” mentality and it shows
#it shows when she shows off her yearbook proudly with all the bullying remarks written over other kids faces#it shows when she smiles at her friends and then whispers to me all their problems and laughs at them#it shows when she makes remarks about complete strangers and diminishes their accomplishments#it shows when she pulls up an Instagram profile and rants about a lady who isn’t pretty (to her)#it shows on her face when I comment that the women she’s making fun of are beautiful#it shows when she scoffs at me and tells me to stop being nice#it shows when I’m feeling happy and laughing and she immediately cuts in to bring me back down#it shows when she tells me no MAN will ever want me if I don’t lose weight#it shows when she crinkles her nose when I remind her I prefer women and nonbinary folk#she never stopped being a mean girl#she never grew up
