to give a little more info without spoiling it, it's about a foundation employee who was caught for espionage and was given the choice between termination (which in SCP world means death) or joining the Surrealistics Department, and he chose the latter. so now we follow him going through his first day on the new job!:))))! and i should clarify, you may be able to get it w/o the post, i def wasnt tho so jic lol
some other rapid fire faves, declassified recommended or not:
there is no antimemetics division - this one is an entire story arc but i can't not list it, its about anomalies whose whole thing is making people be unable to remember them and it rewired my brain. if you only want one sample chunk though, "introductory antimemetics" stands entirely on its own and is sosososo good
3519 - a highly transmissible disease that makes people believe the world will end on may 5th, and suicide beforehand would be better. you might feel confused by the wall of containment updates before the description and timeline but i promise its important to read it in order, just take it slow and really try to parse what these containment updates must mean about how the disease is progressing
3449 - a highly transmissible disease that makes people make typos. its way more than it sounds but literally anything else would be spoiling it so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just whenever you think youve reached the end keep clicking the next iteration button
1733 - a recording of a football game, the inhabitants of which are alive and are aware they are stuck inside an inescapable loop, and get more and more freaked out every time the tape is replayed. gets very graphic jsyk
1459 - well its. you see what it is. what this one does is it generates a puppy. and then. it uh. it. well you see. it. hm. you'll see. just, also very graphic. the ten mile long experiment log takes it from horrifying to ridiculously funny, i still feel bad for recommending it though
1346 - scary hallway
073 & 076 - IM SO SORRY TO ANYONE WHO BELIEVED ME WHEN I SAID TO START PROJECT PARAGON WITH 072 AND 073 i got the numbers wrong:((( but anyways. cain and abel. read these then go to the project paragon hub. or if you need more to hook you in, do 343 then 4840 then 6666 THEN hit up the hub. oh and scp 1000 is an important part too. and REDACTED PER PROTOCOL 4000-ESHU (you'll understand why its named different dw. irl it also goes by scp 4000). im pretty sure all of those are linked in the hub in one way or another tho so dw
4514 - knife that kills people (pay close attention to everything in the experiment logs)
2922 - ahhhh corbenic. very interesting (afaik incomplete) arc about where humans go when we die. after this you go to the project galahad hub to continue, also hit up 3922 it is extremely funny. from what i remember 1346... might? be linked to this somehow? but i could never find more about it, maybe ill stumble into it later tho thats how it tends to go
5935 - another one that i think needs the declassified post after to really get it and can't really be explained without spoiling it, its v cool though.
3288 - haha dude how fucked up would the hapsburgs get if they went underground and kept Doing Their Thing for like. hundreds of years? pretty fucked up right? (so fucking graphic dude. listen to every single one of those tws it puts up they are not jokes)
835 - scary human vore coral (also so fucking graphic, once again listen to the tws)
033 - Secret Undiscovered Number that breaks things if you use it because our tech is all based on the Wrong Math
2718 - GO BACK AND READ 4514 IM SERIOUS. DON'T LET YOUR EYES DRIFT DOWN AND READ THE NEXT BIT FIRST or do if you want, personally spoilers dont ruin things for me usually so you don't have to. it will however be way better that way around i pinky promise
lalalalalalalalalalala
anyways 2718 is death. like, death itself. one of the least graphic but by far most unsettling versions imo, and ive seen a lot of people say the same, like. its one of those ones that you stumble on and go ohhhh right this is a HORROR horror site. if you like it tho, definitely follow it up with the End Of Death (you see now?) canon. this one is super graphic though jsyk. i dont remember if theyre supposed to be linked or if i just happened to read them right next to each other and mistook them as the same canon but w/e both are excellent and they mesh very well thematically even if they aren't. but for real though, that first one WILL stick with you forever so if you're even a little queasy about death and Unsure About The AfterWards i would recommend skipping these, your brain does not need extra ammunition to scare you with abt that lol
4051 - MAJORLY fucking sad one about a kid who can make portals. if youre confused by the 350-PROMETHEAN notes and the therapy session notes search up the declassified post. not directly graphic but. its absence makes its shape visible regardless
6113 - scp of trans your gender. has false endings, youll know youve made it once you see a "handwritten" note followed by 3 pictures of a lake
2316 - everyones heard "you do not recognize the bodies in the water," but did you know theres more past that? start at Not Fade Away and click the link at the bottom to come back to 2316, click every superscript¹ < like that, and once you hit ⁶, highlight /everything/ past that, especially the blank parts. or if youre on pc just ctrl+a. you'll figure it out from there
lily's proposal - i mentioned this in the tags of another post but the scp-001 spot is kept open so that different writers can use it as they need for their individual canons, and this proposal is really cool and gentle
that's all the ones i can think of right now 👍 if you read these because of this post you should tell me what you thought of them
also if anyone wants an example of an INSANELY good scp that you almost certainly cannot understand without reading the declassified post, 5145 is so fuckin cool

Me & my house mate have taken the obscure notion to be watching all the pokemon movies this past week .... i think we r aiming to watch them all. Tho i myself have only watched up until the end of gen 4 and that absolute garbage cg remake of the first one. Anyway some thoughts-
Nostalgia is an absolute farce & sometimes 4 kids over saturate the pokemon voices way 2 much and the meme of me enjoying childhood hyper fixation absolutely fizzles out for a second into i feel like a parent watching this or someone who has never seen pokemon in my life and is just like . What . Which is very not tru bc like i love pokemon lmao. but mayb its the curse of capitalism and knowing the shallow plots r built just to sell a product makes this like tumultuously evident?
I cant believe they actually went and tried 2 do their own ghibli movie w the 4th movie. And im high key accosted w the cg, it had actually some of the prettiest cinematography in these movies and decided to wipe its entire ass with its own shit.
Also idk if they still do this but . I never realised how much they love implementing god awful cg into theze movies. Like its BAD. not even redeemably good and makes transitions between scenes all the more harrowing. I understand its y2k its all about using sweet revolutionary tech. But I feel like if yr not pixar in 2004 and you dont have their fat wallet. Its fucking pointless. Nyway nothing has aged well at all.
Like all the hoenn movies r tortuously slow & badly plotted except the lucario movie is genuinely charming especially if you were angsty as all hell in 2008 and love watching wolf with psychic powers mourn his bf for an hour & a half. Also medieval pkmn half hour I guess
The villains r actually quite interesting in these movies! And kind of makes me wish pokemon anime itself was more narrative wise strong? Some of the characters ie the girl jewel thieves in the 5th movie fucking rule. Would hav bin cooler to tie in these movies w anime plot or something better....
I feel like also w the movies nintendo r just like . We gottaaaa uhhh promo this new fucking cat thing can youuu like uhhhh. Do something . And tv tokyo just has to take it at face value and be like . Yeah. Bc I genuinely dunno if anything ab the anime has anything faithful 2 the games.
Anyway in terms of banger plots. The og 3 r yr standard good tho i think the second is eugh whatever lmao. But anyway The 9th one fucks so hard? Darkhorse of the movies imo but its been like the most consistent plot wise? And just really fun!like atlantis......
Also sad pkmn ranger got its ass handed to it bc it was a sick concept?
I wish the 5th one had a better plot but i think I really like these movies when it’s the animators like hehehe we are in pokemon venice doing silly things. First half of it is gr8. Bc the minute it hits legendary pokemon garble plot im like aughhhhhhhhh shut the fuck up go back to the gif of vaporeon drinking water from an out door tap.
I will come back 2 this when we start watching the movies i havent seen lmao. We r 2 start gen 4 next and i cant remember if any of those movies r descent bc they’re all super unmemorable.
This has bin fun so far. Obviously im just typing my gripes & the demographics for these movies r not for me. but still interesting to rewatch after like 12ish years ?

dao is kind of the worst for me combat-wise like I just can't play it without cheating because the fights feel like they take forever but I want to replay it so bad because of the story (I prefer more active combat in games if that makes sense like, I don't like just watching the combat happen. I kind of have that problem with games with similar combat styles and it sucks tbh)
every time someone tells me the combat is too slow my brain kind fizzles out: my adhd HATES fast game. can’t do it. my brain processes shit too slow so imo origins, neverwinter nights, pillars, it’s all my jam (even tho I’m not fond of the camera angles which right now is escaping me because i’m listening to jim sterling chat about the nvidia shield and NMS yet Again lmfao)
BUT i can see how some people’d find it too slow. i think there’s mods to make it fast (if i’ve heard, correctly), but honestly if they ever remade the game in frostbite i’d need them to make the combat more like inquisition sans the lack of fucking tactics and c h o i c e

i've been scrolling through your blog for a bit and i just wanna say that i think that D.C. went through a rough stage a while back and marvel took full advantage of that shit and it sucks like DC could make the superhero movie of the century and people would be like :/ it's D.C. tho n not marvel while marvel can crank out some ass shit that they wrote in three days and as long as it has some "cool" actor people will praise that shit like it's fucking jesus himself in movie form n just ughhhhhh
I mean, I honestly don’t think DC’s had much of a rough stage since the unspeakably bad Burton-Schumacher Batman films of the 80s and 90s. Their film studio was just about dead after that and they tried to make a few other things happen but they just sorta fizzled at best and crashed and burned at worst. “Batman Begins” frankly revitalized the superhero genre and the Nolan series maintained relative consistency in terms of tone and story for the seven years it spanned.
The Nolan Batman movies were a catalyst for change in the genre for a couple of reasons, but the largest of them is that suddenly superhero movies were actually viewed as, like, legit movies and not just shallow popcorn films. DC and Marvel took two very different approaches to this.
DC doubled down on the Nolan series’ more grounded, human, artistic take on the superhero genre and tried to showcase their superheroes as flawed and vulnerable, which is great because it’s kind of their comics’ strong suit. Marvel went in the exact opposite direction and created movies that were outlandish fantasies-- and this is not a dig, outlandish fantasy is a hell of a lot of fun and it was necessary for them to establish a distinct identity that plays more to their comics’ strengths.
See, DC is more character-oriented and Marvel is more story-oriented. It’s why DC can basically have a whole graphic novel where Batman just sits around introspecting and have it be good, and why Marvel can tell a more compelling story about characters nobody’s ever heard of. When they try to take on the other’s strengths, you end up with something unwatchably bad, which brings me back to the subject of DC’s supposed “rough patch” and the quality double standard where DC delivering anything short of absolute perfection is marked as a miserable failure while Marvel can phone it in and still have people rave about their movies:
DC’s films, since the Nolan trilogy revived their film studio from the brink, has had exactly one major misstep, and it happened because they tried to emulate the success of Marvel’s smash success “Iron Man” in tone with the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern film. Believe it or not, Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman, and Suicide Squad were all relatively successful films commercially and were enjoyed by most of their audience. The people who hated them were much louder and more obnoxious about it, but DC’s movies actually do have a passionate fanbase and they’re really only gaining more fans with each movie they release. Their one major flop was “Green Lantern” and the main problem with that is that most people aren’t gonna enjoy a faithful adaptation of Green Lantern comics because Green Lantern comics are by and large inaccessible
Marvel, on the other hand, produces more Misses than Hits. They’ve got some amazing films (Iron Man 1, Captain America, CA:TWS, Avengers 1) but they’ve also got a whole bunch of films that are bland and mediocre at best and soul-crushingly unwatchable at worst (Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, Civil War, Age of Ultron, Guardians of the Galaxy, the list goes on but so many of their movies have been so forgettable I can’t be bothered)
So this sounds like I’m refuting your point, but I think it really says something that DC’s films are considered to have had a “rough patch” of one movie whose biggest fault is that it was mediocre compared to the more recent superhero fare of Iron Man 1 and The Dark Knight, while Marvel can produce hours upon hours of tangled inaccessible shlock that’s led to people being so fatigued by their universe that the most exciting thing a Marvel trailer can contain at this point is "indications that they’re finally going Off Brand”
Anyway yeah you’re right on most counts, specifically that Marvel’s early successes largely came from an attempt to distinguish themselves from DC’s most popular superhero films, which were very insulated in terms of continuity (Batman Begins and Superman Returns, for example, don’t reference taking place in the same world as one another) and people really liked Marvel’s movies having clear crossovers building to a team-up (Fury mentions the Avengers in “Iron Man,” Tony shows up in “Incredible Hulk,” Tony’s dad is in Cap 1, Natasha shows up in Iron Man 2, etc.) and there was a really satisfying payoff to that in “The Avengers”
The problem is that now every movie just tries to up the ante on that payoff and we get diminishing returns. Do you know how many superheroes need to be in a Captain America movie at all? One. Do you know how many superheroes played a major role in the plot of Cap 3? I count eleven off the top of my head, and that’s for a solo movie! By contrast, Avengers 1, a team movie with an ensemble cast, had seven superheroes playing a major role if you count Fury as a superhero (which IMO you should). And instead of trying to deliver something new in other films, they just keep trying to double down on “look how much continuity!” to the point where I’m honestly fatigued just looking at the poster for “Infinity War” because at my last count there were over two dozen main characters and ScarJo has threatened us with even more cameos and crossovers than that.
That’s one of the (many) reasons I’m looking forward to Black Panther. You know who I didn’t see in that trailer? Anyone from any other goddamn marvel movie other than Black Panther. It looks like they’re finally trying to deliver something new instead of just trying to deliver something that’s The Same But Louder.
Anyway point is you’re right that Marvel spent their first five years setting up a payoff and have spent the five years since delivering that payoff trying in vain to get lightning to strike a second time, and unfortunately their formula is treated as the scientific standard for superhero films to the point that making a movie that doesn’t adhere to that formula is seen as a failure for some ungodly reason

just got back from seeing it again with the crunchyroll subs!!
i enjoyed it much more this time! 1 the audience was much bigger (i saw literally one of the last days of eng subs in japan so there was like 2 other people there lol) so it was great to hear everyone laughing along with all the humor n stuff, and to hear people all talking about it afterwords, 2 the subtitles overall were more accurate and cohesive so that was good, and 3 just having seen it already and knowing which beats they were gonna focus on helped me to reframe the narrative in my mind of how they wanted/were able to portray the story in the runtime they had, rather than just me hoping to see specific parts
i could tell this time that whoever did the subs had actually seen haikyuu before bc certain lines and callbacks were referential of the original n stuff (if that makes sense lol)
but also, there were a few noticeable changes to the subs. they completely changed the "let's devour every last scrap off their bones" line from the manga to... "let's make a mess" LMAO which, if you couldnt guess, is a far less superior translation imo. and even though i dont know nearly enough japanese to know which one is technically more accurate, i do know that the devouring idea fits a whole lot more with the eating/hunger/omnivore themes of haikyuu and this movie in particular with cats v crows so, kinda hoping that'll get changed back to match the manga during streaming
and then i mentioned in my original post about there being new lines from kenma saying something like 'hinata has kageyama and i have kuroo' with hinata/kageyama practicing in the background while kenma rests and then when kenma says kuroos name it cuts to kuroo holding out his hand to help kenma stand up (i was vague about the visuals previously but w/e), yeah, thats not how its translated in the US crunchyroll version AT ALL. its just like, kenma talking more about how he feels about volleyball. no mentions of hinata, kageyama, or kuroo, it was kind of odd, felt like an entirely different sequence because of it and im wondering why they changed it. ive seen from people on twitter (kseniya @ triananero) who watches in og japanese no subs at all that in japanese the lines ARE kenma comparing the hinata/kageyama dynamic to his and kuroos so like. whyd they change it for US release?
smaller but notable to me lol is that tsukkis "hes always one step ahead of me" or "hes a man who walks ahead of me" was translated as "he's going to surpass me" which. very minor but i dont like it quuiiite as much as either of the manga translations bc it implies future rather that present or perpetual. like the whole point is that yamaguchi surpassed tsukki in coolness a long time ago, not that hes gonna do it right now. anyway lol that isnt a big deal, and im nitpicking i know
that whole moment gave me chills anyway, esp with the (s2??) music coming in once yamaguchi steps onto the court, so i really shouldnt complain haha
my gripes with the high five from the first watch still stand too, i wish it had more emphasis, and i DID pay attention to the flashback snapshots in their silhouettes this time and theyre there but... theyre drawn kinda meh....
im so torn about the chp 298 stuff haha bc it starts SUPER strong, its really really good when yamaguchi enters and his first two serves, but it kinda fizzles after that and i still wish tsukkis first smile in the match had more emphasis. the second one later during the 'master and student 2' sequence tho is great!! and the animation for the whole rally where its focused on tsukki and kuroo is siiiiiiiiick, probably my favorite rally of the match other than the pov sequence at the end (i want to make gifs nowwww)
moving on, theres this little bit where kuroo says something like 'may chibi-chan always be in good health" in reference to hinata being good motivation for kenma, and skjdhks idk what that line is in the manga originally but it got a good laugh out of me and i liked that change a lot
i forgot how feral suga is in this match lmao, it was really fun to hear the audience i was with consistently laugh whenever he was like screaming things lol
like every single joke landed for the theater i was in too, it was great. tendou just showed up on screen and someone gasped loll, and then everyone proceeded to laugh at every thing he said, as it should be
"what exactly is wrong with your no.10 over there" "sorry im not sure myself" was spot on perfect too, loved it
overall i had a good time!! for 1h25m its probably the best it could be, and i really appreciate how many little things they did manage to get in to the runtime
okay so i know i posted a few weeks ago that i did get to see the haikyuu movie when i was in japan last month and ive been so busy i didnt fully have time to process lol so ive been writing down thoughts as i remember them so, spoilers under the cut (no particular order)
final rally pov shot was craaaaazyyy (sidenote i saw challengers today lmao and they did a similar pov shot thing a couple times and it reminded me how sick it was to see such a complicated thing be animated)
in addition to that tho, while i liked the drop of the music then to just have it be kenmas breathing, i felt lie his breathing seemed a little repetitive?? like it was possibly just the same couple voice recordings repeated???
and also tbh.. i kinda didnt love how after the super amazing pov animation the way they chose to animate the full court flashback to tokyo training camp was just like a flat pan around the room. it just didnt feel all that dynamic after seeing something so cool, and maybe it was just my screening but the image was kinda blurry and not that crisp at that part
in general tho i thought the sound design was really cool, so much of it just straight up felt like a live match happening, and the part when kenma tells hinata to stay interesting and the sound cuts out?? ooo v effective i thought
and then the birdcaaaage aaaah i loved the way the wings like got all stifled in the cage when kenma first trapped him and then ofc the bursting out of it oooo im excited to see it again in imax
there were a tonnnn of small moments that i assumed wouldnt make the cut that actually did too, yaku sitting on lev's back when he's doing pushups, the bokuto/kuroo hair swap flashback lmaooo, goshiki having to share his ipad with tendou (i cant remember for sure now if he actually says that or not but theyre definitely in the movie), bokuto and akaashi coming over and talking to yachi and ah i think theres more. a lot of them were shortened down a bit, but i appreciated them getting attention nonetheless. sadly no kuroo/lev poop conversation though lmaoo
i thought the kuroo/kenma flashbacks were pretty good as well, i think they possibly added a few lines?? it seemed like there were more frames of stuff of kuroo being inspired by the "lowering the net" concept which was really cool bc thats really integral to his character to me. and then theres this line where kenma is like "hinata has kageyama and i have kuroo" and uhhhh that is news to me!! im like 90% thats new content lmao, and oooo it was good, the shots they chose with it too gooood
oh for some reason they changed how kenma flops??? he falls with his butt up in the air instead of just flat??? like why lmao, obviously that was like an Actual Choice they made bc they had to draw it and obviously had the manga as reference and it makes no difference other than to confuse me lolll
im interested to see it again distributed by crunchyroll too bc im sure some of the subs i saw werent right, a few lines just didnt make sense and there were a few instances of like "lead blocking"
and okay. i gotta talk about the chapter 298 stuff
its there its in the movie!! but,, it's watered down lmao
and i think i was also too in my head and overanalyzing it which im disappointed in myself for so im hoping on rewatch ill have a better time
the "hes always been one step ahead of me after all" was like as perfect as it could get tbh, it looks just like the manga and tsukki like says it just right and yamaguchi comes onto the court behind him totally focused and aaah really loved it. then the service ace and tsukkis little laugh it really good
but then i'm torn on the actual serve and block, there's no inner thoughts on yamaguchis "oh no the ball isnt drifting enough" and then tsukkis silent reply "no that was plenty" before stuffing it, so we arent hearing their like mind reading/intuition connection there which was a bummer. and thennnn im not positive on this bit but i dont think anyone repeats anything about the serve and block being the perfect play?? (its yamaguchi echoing ukai in the manga) and then no little flashbacks to how theyve been training
HOWEVER the big main flashbacks of seeing how yamaguchi walks from behind tsukki to in front of him are there!!! and the way theyre presented is interesting? i was like taken aback by the decision to have the clips being showed within their silhouettes as they move toward each other (i couldnt even tell thats what it was at first tbh..) that i missed whether or not all the panels were in it..... (majorly disappointed in myself for that one). idk visually i found it a little confusing i guess and so i couldnt fully appreciate and im hoping itll look cool on rewatch when i understand whats happening
and then the high five ahhh it was pretty good, idk if anything will ever live up to that manga panel for me, the joy and success and sense of achievement in that image means so much to me lol, but its animated fairly well. do wish they didnt cover tsukkis smile tho
then kuroo asks how tsukki feels about volleyball and he says its fun and he smiles and its.. fine. like ugh its just one of those things were this entiiiire section just slightly suffered from being a two minute segment of a movie instead of a whole episode (or even just half an episode tbh), like something about his smile and saying it was fun just fell a little flat for me and i was unfortunately a little sad about it, i was hoping for a little more buildup and like emphasis. this is a huuuuge culminating moment for him and it didnt quite feel like it to me bc the movie had to have other priorities where a season wouldnt have
later one when tsukki and kuroo are like battling at the net exhausted tho and tsukki smiles again that was pretty good, the animated is really top notch when theyre all panting n stuff, and the voice acting there was great, really liked it

So I saw the last Jedi tonight. Hmm. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a sw film and not felt good about it? It’s a BEAUTIFUL film. Like absolutely gorgeous composition and lighting. And I like the characters themselves. But it didn’t entirely fit in with the rest of the sw universe. The humor was a little too marvel-y for my taste, but I can deal with that. And pretty much just threw hux under the bus. Again I can deal with it even if it was kind of painful to watch. As a film within the sw universe and within the context of all the other films and spinoffs, it felt kind of disconnected and I straight up did not like the direction of several of the main character arcs. There were some things I liked wrt them (Rey and Kylo.. altho I would have much preferred them actually being family rather than this weird pseudo romantic ‘hey we gotta throw the r*ylo shippers a bone thing) but they sort of fizzled out with no real payoff. Also the fact that **** was not killed off even tho there’s no way forward for the character in ix. And that **** WAS killed off. So unnecessary and in a stupid way too. And they had the perfect opportunity to bring in Anakin as a force ghost and didn’t. Not enough references to dv in general. It would have been perfect and I would have forgiven other flaws (and it even would have solved a few imo). I was even imagining the scene in my head as I was watching the movie.
Anyway, I need to see it a second time before I really make up my mind. But I’m a little disappointed. Maybe ep ix will be able to fix some of this.
