genuinely it's crazy how you can tell that ushijima's mother's family and their influence on him is like a fucking leash. like a goddamned dog collar. like something he was trained to wear. like, we see him with utsui before utsui leaves and utsui tells him good things!! important things!! things that wouldn't have made ushijima an asshole!! he tells ushijima that a strong team is one that has interesting people!! he tells ushijima that he'll combat all sorts of types!! strong types!! strange types!! new types!! he tells ushijima that these encounters will make him STRONGER!! the implication is that ushijima shouldn't believe he's the end-all-be-all because he doesn't get stronger that way!! he's meant to grow from acknowledging the strength of others!!
but then utsui takes off to the other side of the fucking world and ushijima is left with family who don't quite know what to do with him and don't quite understand him but still try to drill every bit of whatever they didn't promise utsui into his head, and the only space he feels safe in is where he meets someone who tells him that being strong is the only way to survive and it's the only out ushijima has, and so he grows up believing he cannot be anything else and that nobody should be anything else with his memories of utsui buried beneath a grave . . .
. . . until he's up against a boy who beat the odds he never could, a boy who helps him realize that there's more than one way to be strong, a boy who helps him remember his father, helps him remember no matter what you choose, wakatoshi, i hope you'll come to like volleyball, and ushijima thinks that, maybe, he's always had what he's been missing this whole time.

Alpha ushijima w smol omega yn smut? 😔🤲 my size kink is showing
Hoho? More Ushi Gushy I see 😎
Tumblr media
Alpha!Ushijima x Omega!reader + Size Kink
Tumblr media
It didn’t take a genius to figure out you had a size kink. Even when you began to be courted and start having sex, all of your partners knew why you chose them to spend your time with. Ushijima was the only exception.
You had an insatiable size kink.
Every time you saw an tall, dominating, and large alpha, you couldn’t help the slick and the sickly sweet aroused scent you gave off. Your wet dreams were always about you being split open on a thick cock while you were manhandled. It was almost a problem, honestly.
Meeting Ushijima was no different. The thought of him splitting you in two had your toes curling and your cunt drooling. He would often pass by you in school, but never truly looked your way until you confessed. Even then, volleyball came first. The rejection was harsh, but his dominating persona had you obsessed. When he came back to you after the devastating lost to Karasuno, you were overjoyed. He would still continue volleyball, but you would be there with him as he did. It was sweet, the gentle giant who needed to be guided to love.
His love was rough around the edges and harsh, but you wouldn’t want him any other way. With the way his body encompasses yours with his hugs, you couldn’t wait for next step. When he finally brings it up, so the first time wouldn’t be during his rut, you readily agree. Your panties are already soaked from the arousal, legs spread to welcome him to you. He’s hesitant, you can tell, but words of encouragement are all he needs.
“Wakatoshi, please,” you breathe out, chest heaving, “I want you to touch me,”
“What if I’m rough?” He grunts, large hands situating themselves on your hips. With only a loose shirt and your panties covering you, a part of you wishes for him to rip them in two. “What if I hurt you?”
“Toshi, it’s okay. I want you to be rough, please,” you hold out your arms, welcoming him against you as he ruts his growing bulge against you. You moan at the feeling, knowing his cock will be thick just from the bulge. “Please, Toshi, make me yours,”
A harsh kiss is pressed to your lips, rough and sloppy as large hands clumsily attempt to free his cock. With the fat cock resting over your clothed slit, you buck your hips. He groans at the feeling of the wet fabric against his hard cock, fingers hooking into the fabric to pull them down and off your legs. With the heavy scent of your arousal, Ushijima relents to his instincts as he humps you, his cock rubbing against your wetness while he growls into your mouth. The noise has you clenching around nothing, anticipation killing you as you moan into his mouth. Another buck of your hips has him moving his cock to your cunt, the juices dripping from you making the stretch much easier.
The pain of splitting you open had your head thrown back, nails digging into his shoulders as your eyes roll back. Your mewls were ones of pleasure, back arching as he sunk into you. “Does it hurt?”
“Not at all, it feels so good,” you moan, low and breathless. He nods and continues to push in, his nose buried in your neck for any hints of discomfort. Your fingers tease the strands at the base of his neck, enjoying the heavy feeling of him filling you up. Once he stops, you think he’s all the way in.
“You can take the rest next time,” he grunts, rocking his hips and gently thrusting. The fact he’s not even all the way in you has you keening, a purr from your throat as your sweet scent pours from your scent glands like a tidal wave. The smell invades every crevice of the room, Ushijima no longer able to hold back.
Pushing your legs up to your chest, he pushes his weight down on you as he jackhammers his cock into you. Your squeals of pleasure has him growling, pressing his lips to your legs with the occasional nip to your leg as he forces you to take his thick cock. The pressure of him on you has your cunt clenching around him, walls fluttering as your high comes down hard and fast. The scream is mixed with a mewl, the feeling of him pumping his cock into you through the high has your next orgasm coming through.
“I’m cumming, Toshi! I’m-“
“Then do it again,” he grunts, a deep thrust to bump against your cervix as he spills his load into you. The hot seed inside you sends you to have your own release, milking his cock dry of each drop. Your eyes are rolled to the back of your head as you have your back arched, a deep groan from your chest as a shiver runs through you. His heavy breathing is akin to growling, making your walls flutter around him even more.
As you feel him get harder inside, you know you’re not done yet.

You treasure your time back in childhood. Whenever you think back to those days, you would be reminded of the times you spent with Oikawa and Iwaizumi by your side. Still young and ignorant to the world other than your own little bubble, you played around and made memories that even years later, you could still remember what you felt back then. What it felt like to pull on your sister’s hair and the terror that went with it, what it felt like to accidentally injure yourself after you tried copying that one commercial you saw on TV, what it felt like to trip over your own feet as you dived head first to receive a ball for the first time - and with all those times of stupidity and utter fun, Oikawa and Iwaizumi was always there. You don’t even remember the first time you met them. All you knew was that they were already a part of your life for as long as you could remember.
You and Oikawa are next-door neighbors and Iwaizumi lives just right around the corner by the end of the street. For everyday that passed by, you three were always joined at the hips. You can’t even remember a time in your childhood that you weren’t with either of the two. Or maybe it was because it was so long ago that you don’t remember everything now that you’re a bit older.
But a distinct memory of Oikawa forcing both you and Iwaizumi’s pinkies to his as he shouted in promise “Someday, we’ll make it all to nationals!” Nationals. What a fancy word for such young dreamers.
But hence, when you reached the age of kindergarten, your parents made it a mission and a promise to always, always enroll the three of you in the same school. They thought your friendship was cute and special. Even everyone in the neighborhood found your little group endearing. They could never imagine one without the other two or either of the bunch. You would always be three and that would never change. At least that was the ideal reality that everyone imagined for you three.
Though that ideal friendship remained true for years and years. But in your final year of middle school, that was when everything shifted its course.
It was when Oikawa and you were alone in between the two gyms that separated the boy’s volleyball team and the girl’s volleyball team. You were a setter, a genius setter. And during that time, you didn’t know the animosity Oikawa held towards genius volleyball players. So when he told you “You’re a really great setter” And with the small smile accompanied by those fluttering words, a great wave of pride swelled in your chest to hear such a comment from such a great setter, a tinge of pink painted across your cheeks.
You let out a small shy “Thank you” Your eyes stuck on the ground with your hair hiding your reddening cheeks. You didn’t notice the slight quirk in the corners of his smile. Too busy with your head in the clouds, you failed to notice the envy that flashed through his dark chocolate-brown eyes.
While you were busy pining over your new realized feelings, Oikawa was also busy over his conflicting feelings for you. You were his friend, his best friend along with Iwaizumi. So why does he harbor so much jealousy towards you? It was him who got you into volleyball in the first place. It was him who dragged you out of bed every morning for as long as he could remember just to play volleyball. But seeing you do so much better than him, even when he would never face you on the court, he couldn’t help but feel insecure in your presence.
He thinks he could do more, be better and surpass every living genius in the world of volleyball. He wants to be the best. He needs to be much much better. And with the green-eyed monster controlling his need to be the best, without knowing it, he held a resentment against you.
And you, none the wiser of your friend’s bitterness towards you, you found more reasons to be around Oikawa more. More than you already do. Which to be honest did not help calm the growing storm Oikawa harbors in his heart. You always just seem to be everywhere and seeing you always reminds him of what he’s lacking. Feelings of guilt, envy and your sudden overwhelming presence is what drove him to finally snap. To finally pull the trigger and kill whatever’s left of his fondness towards you.
Iwaizumi had told you that Oikawa has been pushing himself much more than normal. Oikawa has been losing his cool and Iwaizumi has explained the pressure, the constant need to be better and the inferiority Oikawa feels towards players like Kageyama and Ushijima. But neither you nor Iwaizumi knew you were one of those Oikawa felt inferior to.
So one late afternoon, the sun has set and the sky is minutes away from dark. Hours after classes were dismissed and the rest of the players had been sent home, you entered the boy’s volleyball gym alongside Iwaizumi to see that Oikawa is still hell-bent on practicing.
You frowned. You could see how exhausted he was but still, he stood on his two feet, determined. Before you could even call out his name, Kageyama caught your attention as he made his way to his senior “Oikawa-san, please teach me how to serve”
As if something inside him snapped in half, Oikawa’s hand flew towards Kageyama only for Iwaizumi to catch his arm in time “Get a grip you moron!” Stunned silence echoed through the gym, only heavy breaths and wide eyes spoke volumes of what just happened. “I’m sorry” Oikawa relaxed and Iwaizumi let him go. But his eyes, he was just as shocked with his actions as much as everyone was.
“Kageyma, I’m sorry but we’re done for the day” Iwaizumi’s spoke and with that, Kageyama walked away, eyeing Oikawa warily as he passed him by.
“Tooru?” Your voice caught his attention. You being there sent him in overload and before he could stop himself, before Iwaizumi had the chance to stop the words that flew out of Oikawa’s mouth, he snapped once again. But this time, there was no stopping it.
“You!” He bellowed, you flinched “I hate you! I hate you and your presence and everything that is you!”
“Huh?” “Wha-? OI!”
“-Why are you always everywhere? Why do you have to be a part of my life? You’re always in my eyes! You’re always there and I am sick of it!” Oikawa huffed, tears brimming on his eyes. You’re already crying.
“You like me don’t you?”
He knows
“-Well I don’t like it! Stay away from me will you! You overwhelm me!”
He knows
You clenched your hand, shaking.
“-WHY DID YOU HAVE TO BE A SETTER?!” With a frustrated cry, Oikawa dropped to his knees and suddenly, you realize.
‘He hates me’ You thought. You didn’t even dwell as to why when you ran out the gym. You heard Iwaizumi call out your name but you ignored him and ran. You ran and ran until your lungs forced you to stop, tumbling down to your knees as you sobbed in the empty road under the street light.
You can’t understand for the life of you. Had you been mean to him? Have you done something wrong? Or is it because he knows you like him and he doesn’t feel that way towards you. Maybe you made him uncomfortable. His mother doesn’t really help as she always gushes about how you should be her future daughter-in-law. You had overwhelmed him and now he hates you.
It was only the night before Monday did you remember what he last told you.
“WHY DID YOU HAVE TO BE A SETTER?”
‘Ah’ you thought as you realized the roots of his new found resentment towards you.
Oikawa has always been ambitious and successful at whatever he sets his mind into. But he was no genius and his skills were practiced, it did not come naturally. You remembered those times he ranted about Ushijima and how unbelievably strong he is. And Kageyama and how he’s younger yet so much better than he is. And then there’s you.
He had never complained about you. Or at least none that you knew about. You should have realized when people started calling you a genius. You should have noticed the change of his demeanor towards you. How he doesn’t smile genuinely anymore. How you weren’t actually friends anymore.
You didn’t love volleyball and maybe that’s one of the reasons why he hates you. Or maybe that’s the exact reason why. You don’t even love it yet you’re so good at it. No wonder he was frustrated about you. He’s not just envious about your skills, he’s also frustrated to see you obtain something he wants when you’re only half-hearted into the game. It was a reminder that no matter how hard he pushed himself, there would always be some genius that would trample over his hardened efforts.
You couldn’t believe how fast you could go from liking someone to hating them the next.
You avoided him after that incident. You avoided him like the plague. You still talk to Iwaizumi though but not as much as before. You distanced yourself from them and before you knew it, you had graduated.
Over the summer, that was when people noticed the shift in the dynamic of your friendship. The three became two and you’re now only one. You don’t leave your house, not even when Iwaizumi called out your name for an hour because you knew Oikawa would be there.
Oikawa did not make any effort to reconcile with you and it annoyed you to no end. It was always Iwaizumi acting as the mediator but eventually, even he gave up. It was tiring to force two people to reconcile when neither party wanted anything to do with the other.
It doesn’t mean Oikawa didn’t feel guilty. His guilt was one of the reasons why he exploded and it was also guilt that made him ashamed of facing you. You were a precious friend, a childhood friend, a person who’s known him for so long. A person who knows him better than his family and yet he pushed you away.
And now you won’t come back.
At the opening ceremony in high school, he waited for you. He thought that he would make peace with you. Apologize once and for all. You were already in high school for god’s sake. You had let the whole summer wash away the broken pieces of your friendship with no way of reconciliation. You had wasted a whole summer and Oikawa’s determined to bring everything back to where it was. Even if it meant to pick up all the pieces of the broken fragments of your strained friendship. He would do so. Because you’re precious to him, more than you nor he could understand.
But you never came. And at once, all that courage and determination in him was also washed away.
You went to Karasuno for high school and swore your soul to the gods that exist that you would never ever step foot into a volleyball court ever again. You had decided to quit on volleyball. Sure, you were a genius at it but you didn’t love it. At least not as much as some people you know. But that promise was also thrown away when Sugawara, a classmate, begged you to be their manager.
He was resolute and you were annoyed. And so you rejected his offer. Though that did not stop him from pestering you, begging you down to his knees which is why you found yourself watching a practice match held in the school’s volleyball gym.
‘They’re weak’ You thought. You didn’t really care as you watched the team pathetically lost. You could not stress enough the difference in power between your school and the away team. It was truly and utterly pitiable.
You had heard about the tale of the once powerhouse that is Karasuno and you wondered what happened. You learned that your school had once managed to make it to the nationals so why is the team so weak now? No coach, no manager, just players.
You were already leaving, indifferent to your school’s volleyball team when your ears perked up on an insult, an insult that sent you to overdrive and before you knew it, you were screaming. You screamed at your school’s team. You screamed a vow, a vow to get them to nationals once again. And so beyond your belief, you were on the court once again. Though this time, you were only at the side.
It was in the Interhigh Tournament did you and Oikawa look at each other once again. His eyes were wide while yours was determined, glaring at him as if challenging him. He knew of your abilities and how well you could use that to coach others. He knew you could use that to examine opponents and use that knowledge against them. You were a genius that way. And so seeing you in the opponent’s team as their manager made him nervous. Just because you were a manager doesn’t mean you wouldn’t be able to help the team technically.
But how can you help a team that doesn’t want your help in the first place? It was only you and your other fellow first years that were bitter when you lost in the first round. Your seniors seemed to accept that your team just wasn’t good enough. And the frustration sent you to silent tears as you questioned your decision of being involved in volleyball again.
And Oikawa, being the ever jackass that he is, used the opportunity to tease you. An excuse to talk to you. And imagine the delight he felt when you gave him the attention. And so started the rivalry you never imagined you would have with him.
You thought that maybe if he hadn’t chosen to tease you that day, you would’ve quit the volleyball club. And maybe if he hadn’t teased you that day, you would have probably never talked again.
Three years passed and it was your last year at high school. With the addition of promising first years, you faced off against Aoba Johsai in the Spring Interhigh Qualifiers. Karasuno won and would face off Shiratorizawa for the finals. You should be glad, ecstatic even. So why are you sad? Why are you mourning for your childhood friends’ loss? Why won’t you look away from the opponent and celebrate with your team?
But how could you when you could see the two special people in your life fight off the tears that threatened to stream down their eyes. And the night after Karasuno beat Shiratorizawa, you thought ‘Nationals’
You were the only one who made it to Nationals. And you weren’t even a player.
The thought of that stupid childhood promise left a bitter taste on your mouth.

The high of the nationals died down once it was over and you and your fellow third years now focus on studying for the finals and upcoming university entrance exams. It was dismissal time and having no volleyball club activities any more, you head straight home, parting ways with Sugawara at the intersection.
You sighed. The sky is orange with hues of pink, purple and blue painting the sky gradient. You had arrived by your house’s gate when you heard the ruckus of voices. Male voices. So you turn and lo and behold, it was Oikawa, Iwaizumi and number 2 and 3 from what you could remember.
They turn to look at you and their ruckus dies down. You turned your back at them, already opening the gate when Iwaizumi called out your name. You turn your focus back at them “Would you mind tutoring us?”
“Please, she’s bad at math” Oikawa commented. You felt a nerve pop out of your neck “You bitch, you suck at everything but volleyball!”
“Excuse me, I’m in class 6-” “Doesn’t matter”
Iwaizumi could only sigh as Matsukawa and Hanamaki watched in amusement. ‘So you’re the famous childhood friend’ they thought.
You and Oikawa stared down at each other, neither backing down. For added effect, you crossed your arms which earned a snort from the setter “Please?” Iwaizumi pleaded. With a sigh, you looked at your friend “Fine. I’ll just tell mom first”
Why did you accept? You didn’t know. But you knew you didn’t mind being around Oikawa now. Though you don’t really trust him, not anymore.
Your mom was surprised to hear you would be going to Oikawa’s house. It’s been years and she could not hide the glee on her face as she practically pushed you out of the house. With a deep breath, you made your way to his house.
The door opened to his mother who, like your mom, albeit a bit more enthusiastic, was ecstatic beyond relief at the sight of you. She asked you continuously without giving you any chance to reply “Did you finally make up? Are you friends again? You’re talking again? How splendid! Why did you stop talking in the first place? I was so sad. I missed you so dearly. It wasn't the same without you”
She kept on beaming and you only replied in awkward chuckles, not wanting to kill her joy and tell her you still very much held a grudge against her son. But fortunately, she left you to the company of the four boys who sprawled all around the couch, bags thrown at the side with the television on in a music channel. A girl group is performing.
“Aren’t you guys supposed to be studying?”
“Shh, Miho-chan is singing” Oikawa held a finger on his lips. You could only grimace at their focus on the girl group. Maybe you should go now.
But before you could even turn around, Iwaizumi had turned off the TV much to the boys’ protests “Fanboy later you horny scumbags”
“You know I’m here, right?” You say and Iwaizumi sent you an apologetic smile.
“You don’t count as a girl anyway so it doesn’t really matter” You felt your heart drop at Oikawa’s comment. You frowned, dropping your books down on the coffee table with a slam. The three boys jumped, startled. They were sitting down on the floor when you did that.
With a huff, you sat down at the end of the table while Matsukawa and Hanamaki sat beside each other and across from them sat Oikawa and Iwaizumi “So-” You cleared your throat as they looked at you in synchrony “-what is it you need help in?”

You looked up to the digital clock hanging on the wall. 8:47 pm, it read “Aren’t you guys gonna go home?”
Oikawa is fast asleep on the coffee table, head resting in his arms. Matsukawa has given up on his practice test and Hanamaki sat spaced out. It was only Iwaizumi whose focus is still on his notes. Even you gave up 15 minutes ago, feeling your head ache as the words start swirling incoherently in your mind.
You received a hum of reply, everyone focused on their own little worlds. You sighed, closing your book and tucking in the notes in your bag in a hurry. You stood up, groaning at the ache that has built up on your legs from hours of sitting. The others noticed this and copied your actions, slowly standing up and slinging their bags on their shoulders “You all should rest for the day. Just continue tomorrow”
Iwaizumi did not budge from his position and you walked out of the living room to the front door, Matsukawa and Hanamaki hot on your heels. Once you were outside, you were about to bid them goodbye when Hanamaki beat you to it “Hey, I’ve been thinking. Why didn’t you go to Seijoh?”
Matsukawa hit Hanamaki in the back of his head, earning a hiss from the latter “Sorry, you don’t have to answer that”
“Why? Did they talk about me?” Your smile was sad it could come off as a frown. The two boys looked at you sheepishly and you chuckled, turning away from them as you unlocked your gate “We’ve heard the three of you were close and that something happened. They didn’t really elaborate. You’re a really touchy subject” This made you laugh
“Damn” You turned back around to face them to see that they’re still on the same spot, waiting for your response. But you only gave them half a smile, bid goodbye and entered your house.
The next day, you slept through your alarm. Only waking up when your mother woke you up with a screech. And so you skipped on breakfast, snatching a biscuit from the top of the refrigerator and dashed out of your house. Only to be met with Oikawa getting on his bike, obviously late like you are.
“Shouldn’t you be at morning practice?” “Shouldn’t you know that 3rd years don’t go to practice anymore?” You rolled your eyes.
“Geez, how could I know? I don’t go to your school, dumbass” Oikawa pedaled to match your pace “You sound like Iwa-chan, chibi-chan~”
You held your tongue, though your frown failed to conceal your annoyance. Oikawa gazed at you, pursing his lips as you refused to look at his way “Hop on, chibi-chan. No matter how fast you go, you’ll still be late with those tiny legs of yours”
“Can you shut up?!” “What? Is that your best retort? How lame~” You kicked the wheel of his bike sending him trembling out of balance “Hey!”
You huffed. You did not sign up for so much annoyance so early in the morning. You groaned, head looking up at the sky in exasperation when Oikawa blocked your way “Please, please get hit by a truck” Oikawa looked offended
“Ouch, chibi-chan. Just hop on already, you know I’m right” He gave you a grin which only aggravated you more “No”
“Don’t be so stubborn, little girl” “I am not little” “Your height says otherwise” “I’ll kill you!”
Both of you were locked out of the gate that day.
Your review with the four boys continued everyday after school. As well as your morning walk to the school being bombarded by Oikawa. When he learned what time you go to school, Oikawa made it his mission to walk with you. Always biking at your pace as he ranted on and on much to your dismay. You had begged Iwaizumi to go to school with the two of you since Oikawa doesn’t give any signs of giving up on you. But Iwaizumi only gave you a grunt for a response, mumbling about respecting his sleep.
And came one Friday morning, 2 weeks left of school and 3 days before university entrance examinations. Oikawa is waiting by your gate as always and hopped on at the sight of you “Morning, chi-bi-chan~”
Closing your gate, he waits for you to walk but was pleasantly surprised when you sat on the back of his bike “Huh?”
“Bike” You said and so he did. He began telling a story about Iwaizumi tripping in front of his crush, elaborating on what happened that day. And you, you were uncharacteristically quiet.
Usually, you’ll banter with him. And so when you called out his name, Oikawa could feel that you were about to say something heavy. So he continued rambling, zoning out your voice and filling the air with his words.
“Tooru” He paused, his heart thundering against his chest. It has been years since he last heard you call him by his name “Yeah?”
“Why are you acting like we’re friends” Oikawa let out a strained smile but you didn’t see
“Damn, that hurts y/n-chan” He said in jest but you could hear the genuine hurt in his voice. Oikawa felt your hand tighten as you clutch on the back of his jacket.
“Tooru-” You leaned your head against his back ‘-it’s weird how this makes me feel happy but hurt’ You thought
“Tooru-” ‘-I’m glad we’re talking again’
Oikawa could feel his heart go erratic, longing for whatever that is on your mind. Voice it out, he thought. Voice it out. But you don’t
“Tooru-” ‘-how come I still like you?’
That night, everyone is staying over at Oikawa’s house except for you. It would be weird considering you’re the only girl and your parents didn’t let you. But here you were, shivering in the cold as you knocked on the window outside Oikawa’s room. He was there because it was him who called you out at 2 in the morning, begging you to come. You shouldn’t have come but you couldn’t really resist him. Not even after all these years. Not even after convincing yourself to move on from him.
You’re whipped and you’re annoyed by it.
‘He’s a jackass’ You think as he holds your hand to support you down ‘He shouted at you. Never apologized, rejected you before you even had a chance to confess. He’s an annoying son of a bitch’
Your heart flutters when you stumble against his chest, Oikawa holding you by the shoulders to steady you “You’re cold” He says, his breath raining down on your hair. His breath was hot and your cheeks turned warm.
You fought the urge to look up at him but when he wrapped a blanket around you, your eyes unconsciously made its way to his face to see he was glowing red despite the darkness of his room.
“The others are in the living room” He says, pulling you down with him on his bed. Shuffling of sheets echoed around the room as Oikawa dived under the blanket. He had his arm under you while his other pulled you to his chest. He kept his arms around you, his chin on your head as you flushed yourself to his chest.
You could feel his heart, beating its way out of his chest. His heart slowly lulling you to sleep. He called out your name. You reluctantly pulled your head away from his chest and looked up at him “Hm?”
Oikawa bite his tongue, mulling over the words in his head. Should he tell you right now? What would your reaction be? He doesn’t want to hurt you again. He doesn’t want to repeat the same mistakes. He doesn’t want this moment to stop. For the world to pause and let him hold you close to him.
He thinks it over - deciding he should tell you soon. But not know. Not when your cheeks are red, your half-lidded eyes glossy as you gazed at him longingly. Oikawa leans in, planting a soft kiss to your forehead that tells you exactly what he feels. You could feel yourself shrink under the affection.
You didn’t notice that you fell asleep. Did not know that his eyes scanned every nook and crevices of your face. How beautiful you looked to him. How you would always be the prettiest in his eyes. How he looked at you so utterly and deeply in love it hurts to know that the time is ticking.
Oikawa brushes the strand of hair on your face, pushing it behind your ears in an agonizingly slow pace. He takes his time feeling your skin, placing his lips on your forehead and falls asleep with your warmth wrapped against his.
After that night, you and Oikawa grew more affectionate with each other. Sure, you still banter. That would never change. But there was a shift in the air and you knew there was something in there. But neither of you admitted anything. Still friends but much more than just that. Nothing was official and no one acknowledged the elephant in the room.
And you were glad it was never official. Because after graduation, Oikawa’s mom threw a party for him. A graduation party. A farewell party.
It seems like night brings out the intimacy that the morning shies away. Oikawa had led you to the playground behind your house. You remembered playing here with Oikawa and Iwaizumi, practicing volleyball as always.
You climbed up the slide and sat down at the top, letting your feet dangle on the edge. Oikawa sat beside you, his long legs dangling down beside yours. You studied the difference and smiled to yourself.
“I’m going to Argentina” He says, refusing to look at you. His hands are pulled into a fist, trembling. You placed your hand on top of his, his shaking stops as he finally looks your way “That’s great” You said, and you mean it.
He smiles at you but it doesn’t reach his eyes. So you held his cheeks, head tilting to the side “It has always been your dream, Tooru. I can’t believe it’s finally happening”
“It’ll be hard” You snort “Of course. It’s Argentina dude. Japan is still miles away from their skills” Your eyes glint at that, giving Oikawa a determined smile “But we’ll beat you, just you wait”
“I’ll win first” And he means it. You laugh, hand dropping from his cheeks “I’ll look forward to it”
Oikawa gazes at you with so much adoration in his eyes. You were the only person who didn’t tell him his plans were stupid. And he loves you for that.
“I love you” he was the first to crack. Your cheeks turn red, expression shy at his intense gaze “I-I love you too” You stutter, a bit overwhelmed.
Oikawa chuckles “You’re cute” His words don't really help to die down the red in your cheeks. In fact, it only worsens it “Shut up” You grumble indignantly and he laughs.
“Hey, will you be my girlfriend?” At this, you looked at him with a sad smile.
“We can’t” Oikawa knew your answer before he even asked. But he didn’t expect the pain would hurt that much.
“Can’t we try?” His voice is painful and it broke your heart to see him so broken “Tooru” He looks at you pleadingly and he speaks
“I think I've been in love with you all this time. But to be honest-” He bitterly chuckles “-I was envious of you more than I liked you"
"And that's why it's a no" you smiled sadly.
"You love volleyball, Tooru. More than anything else. More than you. More than me" The atmosphere was somber. Until a thought passed by your mind and you tittered.
"More than milk bread" The both of you giggled.
"Yeah...more than milk bread"
Neither of you moved. Not even when the sun rose from its sleep and in a few hours, he'll leave.
He'll leave.
And you have to let him go. Even though he's right there beside you. So close yet so far away. He's there and he loves you. But for his dreams. For him.
You let him go.
And then he's gone. On the other side of the world, thousands and millions of miles away from you. And you regret the three years that could've been so much more if the two of you hadn't been so stupid and so prideful.
And just like that, years and years passed. Both Oikawa and Iwaizumi left abroad and only you stayed. Though you did move to Tokyo and worked at a hospital for a few months until the opportunity to work as an assistant manager and physical therapist for MSBY Black Jackals came up. You could only thank the stars for connections. In this field, you only get a chance if someone in it knows you. And luckily for you, you know a ton of them from your years as a manager back in high school.
It’s 2021 and 8 years have passed and you remained in contact with Oikawa. Though you don’t talk as much as you two now have your own separate lives. He has volleyball and you have your athletes. And of course, during the course of those 8 years, the both of you had dated several people. Some long term, some not so long. And inside those 8 years, you’ve finally convinced yourself you’ve moved on from Oikawa Tooru.
The olympics is this year and along with Iwaizumi, you were pulled in to be a manager and their physical therapist. You had made quite the reputation in the industry. What with your genius mind for volleyball, opponent teams that know you fear your analytical skills and your ability to use that knowledge for the benefit of your team. Really, all professional volleyball teams want you. It just so happens that it was MSBY Black Jackals that called you first.
Oikawa doesn’t know that you and Iwaizumi are part of the Japan team. And so when his team emerged, ready to face old rivals, Oikawa swore his eyes jumped at the sight of you and Iwaizumi.
Your heart swelled with pride, lips outstretched to a big smile. You’re proud of him, so so much.
You could only yelp when Oikawa sprinted towards you and pulled you and Iwaizumi in a tight hug. It’s been such a long time since you saw each other. And a thought passed by your head.
The three of you didn’t make it all in the nationals, but you sure did all go to the olympics.
When Japan lost and Argentina won, you didn’t find it in yourself to be sad. Instead, you were happy. Ecstatic. Euphoric. You’re so proud of everyone, of your teammates and rivals. To have made it this far, they were truly beyond just amazing.

“You could stay with me” Oikawa says nonchalantly as he takes your bag from your hand, the hubbub of the crowd ringing in your ears as you exit the airport “My car’s right here” He tells you as you near a red sports sedan. Unlocking the car, he placed your bag at the backseat as you sat at the passenger's seat.
You’re in Argentina for the weekend for a seminar for sports physical therapists. Just two days, sure nothing could happen for such a short time.
“Nah, just drive me to a hotel” Oikawa gazed at you mischievously
“What? Afraid I’ll do something?” You threw a box of tissue at him “Shut up bitch” He laughed, taking a seat before starting the car “So you are”
“Please” You scoff.
You ended up staying at his guest room.
His house is in an apartment - a kitchen, a couch, a TV, a fucking gym, and pictures on the wall. His apartment is surprisingly cozy, you noted.
You dropped your phone on the bed, collapsing in fatigue. Your eyes were about to flutter shut when Oikawa’s voice boomed in the room “You should shower. Ya stinky from the flight” You rolled your eyes.
You reluctantly pushed yourself out of bed, passing by him and snatching the towel from his hands. You noticed he already changed into a shirt and shorts. You could see the outline of his muscles, lining down his chest. His thighs in view, you tried hard not to stare.
But of course, Oikawa being the ever asshole that he is, comments “Take a picture! It’ll last!”
Once shower was over, you fell down beside him on the couch, the television on in the sports channel. It’s Schweiden Adlers against Azuma Pharmacy Green Rockets. You smiled thoughtfully at the sight of Ushijima and Goshiki on TV.
“What time tomorrow is your seminar again?” Oikawa asks, passing you the milk break from the coffee table. You took it “8 in the morning until 5” He hums, bread down his throat.
“Wanna go out after? My practice ends at the same time” You yawn “Sure”
True to his words, he picked you up from the university 30 minutes after five. Oikawa took you everywhere, to the beach, to a restaurant, to a park, even to a club. Which is probably why he’s dragging your drunk ass to his apartment at 1 am.
You slipped from his arms and landed on the floor with a thud “Shit” You heard him curse under his breath as he hurriedly closed the door behind him. You felt arms curl around yours causing you to giggle “That tingles”
“How can you get drunk from 2 glasses of vodka?” He mused but you only giggled at him. Oikawa glanced at the clock, 1:42 am. Sighing, Oikawa put a hand under your knees and back, carrying you bridal style to your room.
“Tooru” You exhaled, your hot breath sticking to his face as he laid you down gently on the bed. Gulping, Oikawa turned away, grabbing the blanket to put it over you. He felt your hand enclose his cheek, forcing his gaze to you.
Your cheeks are red, illuminated by the moon that is the only light source in the room. Your hair is a mess and your breath stinks of vodka. Your eyes are closing, hands collapsing on your side as you exhale, dropping your head on the pillow. Oikawa notes the way your eyelashes squint and the mole in your left eyelid. And suddenly, Oikawa felt like he was eighteen again.
You could feel his breath, hear his heavy breathing and you flutter your eyes open. You shrink under his gaze, lips parting unconsciously and Oikawa fought with all his might not to kiss you right there and then. His eyes are half-lidded, filled with desire, longing, and love.
Love. Suddenly, you’re not so drunk anymore.
“Tooru” You breathed out in a soft voice. As if something in him snapped, his lips zoomed into yours in a passionate heated kiss. You moan, slinging your arms on his nape, pulling him closer to you until he was in between your thighs.
“Tooru” You slipped out when he removed his lips on yours only to kiss you again. You could feel the heat of his skin on yours as you pulled and pulled him closer as humanly possible. 8 years flashed through your eyes and all you could think about was how good it feels to have his lips nipping on your neck.
He moans your name, fingers combing through your hair in a desperate attempt to feel all of you. He’s wanted you for so long he couldn’t think straight when he felt your hands dig under his shirt, the cold of your hands digging into his back. He groans, kissing you again in the lips before letting you slip his shirt off his shoulders.
You hum, pulling away to kiss his collarbone, hands feeling his chest down to his abdomen. You felt him tug your shirt and you giggled into his chest, taking your shirt off only for Oikawa to roam his hands on your back, to your front then to your chest. He pressed a soft peck on the flesh of your breasts that wasn’t covered by your bra and he looked up at you and asked “Are you sure?”
“Yes” You exhaled and that was all it took for Oikawa to push you gently deeper to the bed, enjoying the feeling of his fingers working its way down to your legs. He took off your pants, Oikawa took a deep breath at the sight of your cunt. He goes back up to you, nuzzling his head into your neck and whispers “God, the things you make me feel” He airly chuckles.
You took a hold of his cheeks, kissing his eyes, his nose then his lips “I love you”
“I love you too”
-
“God, I’m nervous” Oikawa starts, jumping lightly as he holds your hand. You rolled your eyes but a smile plastered on your face. You grin at him and he continues “I’ve been an idiot for a very long time-” He pauses and smiles
“-still am” You snort “-but a tad bit better now that I’m with you” A soft, endeared smile crept onto your lips
“I won’t say that I don’t regret all those years that I could’ve been with you. But we both know that was crucial and all that matters is that now I’m with you” His eyes shone and his lips creased into a smile that reached his ears
“I promise to never leave you,” he pushes the ring into your left ring finger “-not even death can do us apart” You hear your family and friends laugh in the background
“I will bother you every step of the way-” you could not help the roll of your eyes “-and love you for the rest of my life”
“Actually, scratch that. I’ll love you even when I die. I’ll love you in my next life. And the one after that, and the one after that. No matter how many times I reborn-” Oikawa takes your hands to his lips, eyes fluttering shut as he pressed his soft lips on your knuckles
“-I vow to find you and love you. Like I’ve always had and always will”
For all of your life, Oikawa Tooru has been a constant even at times you wish he wasn’t. There was a time you loathed him, a time you missed him, a time you forgot him, and a time you realized you will never stop loving him.
And as you stand before your creator, in front of your friends and family, promising to love each other till the end of time. The sound of “I do”s and cheers reverberating around the hall, as he kissed you with a tilt of his head.
You fell in love all over again.

Tumblr media
"Satori~" Tendou turns around, grin only growing as he hears your sing song voice call from around the corner.
He watched with bated breath, letting out a soft sigh and a heartwarming smile, as he holds out his hands and pulls you into his chest. Taking a deep inhale and exhale.
"How did you sleep?" His grin is soft, and those who've only seen a sinister smile on his face from volleyball would be surprised at how full of love and adoration it held. Truly, Tendou's paradise from the rest of the world, a breath of fresh air from those who found him creepy or weird.
No, you weren't like them. Ever since the beginning you were always the first to jump in to defend Tendou, who had just started to shrug off the looks and whispers of those around him.
"The best sleep I've ever had."
"Yeah?" Tendou sways the two of you in his arms slightly, his tall and thin frame trying it's best to keep you warm from the fall air.
"I had a nightmare." Tendou hums, clearly not worried about it.
"You did?" Tendou's heart squeezes in a way he can't describe as you look up at him with innocent eyes.
"Yeah, your bus was in a car crash." He hums, chills running down his back as remembers the rush of feelings that accompanied the dream.
"Well, I'm here now, besides it's just a dream." Too engrossed in his conversation with you, Tendou isn't aware of the worried look Semi sends him and then Ushijima.
But before he can formally say anything, Ushijima interrupts him.
"He'll be ok. He always is."
---
Tendou's absolutely sure that the looks he's gotten from people in the halls have passed just staring because he was weird looking, there was some underlying message in the stares now, something he couldn't decode.
"Don't mind them Satori." You tug on his uniform blazer, marching ahead of him slightly, eager to get to the convenience store.
"You know y/n. Eating ice cream in the winter leads to all sorts of bad things." Tendou leans over you as you pick out an ice cream from the ice chest, hands coming to your hips and subconsciously rubbing circles into the uniform fabric as he pretends to compare the different ice cream types, as if he wouldn't get the same ice bar he always got.
Tendou's eyes sparkle with happiness as you pick out a new flavour, turning over your shoulder to smile and show him the ice cream you picked.
As always, Tendou pays. Something about how you can repay him later, maybe when a manga he really wants comes out.
"Satori, do you want to try?" There's a mischievous smirk playing at your lips as you hold out the ice cream. After stopping on a park bench, not to far away from the school, the two of you just couldn't wait to have the slowly melting ice creams.
Instead of licking the ice cream as you expected him to do, Tendou leaned over and planted a kiss on your lips, humming as he pulled back and licked his tongue over his lips, smirking at your bewildered expression.
"Tendou." Ushijima's curt voice pulls both of your attentions away from eachother and to the stoic boy above you.
"Ushiwaka, sorry we didn't get you an ice cream. You don't like them anyways, but I did get you..." Tendou trails off, rummaging through the white plastic bag you had acquired at the store, a polite smile on the underplayed college student's face.
Tendou lets out an 'Ah ha!' as he procures the mint chocolate flavoured protein bar you've seen Ushijima eat during practice before.
Ushijima takes it from Tendou's outstretched hand, a polite and curt thank you as he sits next to Tendou.
"We were about to talk about the literature project." Tendou hums, sending you a wink and taking a careful bite of his ice cream.
"Tendou, y/n is gone." It's like ripping off a bandaid, it hurt to see his best friend push himself deeper into a fantasy he created of his own imagination.
"Silly Ushiwaka, they're right-" Tendou's stomach drops as he turns and sees you with a sad smile spread over your features, eyes glassy.
"No, they're- Ushiwaka they're right here." Tendou's confused, was this a prank?
"Tendou, y/n's bus was in a very bad accident, and they didn't make it out of the hospital." Tendou lets out a dry and nervous laugh.
"No, that was my nightmare last night, there's no way..." Tendou's blood runs cold and his hands are shaking.
'Not my Y/n. He's talking about the wrong Y/n.' Tendou's thoughts are too quick for him to keep up with, quick breaths coming out in short bursts.
Words are trapped in his throat as he looks between you and Ushijima. Ushijima's face uncharacteristically full of pity, and your's sad, a tear rolling down your cheek.
"Ushijima I think I need a minute." Ushijima nods at Tendou's serious voice, on the verge of breaking, and gets up, walking a good distance away.
"You're gone?" Tendou's hands are shaking as his voice cracks, wanting to reach out to you.
"Satori, listen to me ok? I love you. Don't ever forget that." A tear rolls down Tendou's face as his thoughts become clearer by the second.
What was once incomprehensible static in his head taking the shape of a word, then two, until they formed a sentence.
'Y/ns gone.'
A sob claws it's way out of Tendou's mouth, and he feels like he's in elementary school again.
"Make sure you don't give Goshiki too much of a hard time ok? He's always trying to impress you guys." Both of your hands are on Tendou's face at this point, and it scares him that he can't feel you, your warmth gone, your presence hanging on by a thread.
"Always eat enough ok? I know you don't have a big appetite, but don't get sick while I'm gone ok? Don't skip out on your meals, please." There's tears running down your face, and Tendou finally notices how you're not really there, tears falling quickly, like rain on the bench.
"You're not here?"
You stop wiping his tears away, giving him a sad smile and a kiss on the cheek.
"I'm at Tokyo Cemetery, darling." A bone shattering shiver rolls through Tendou as he lets out another sob.
"You can't go, I need you." Tendou's shaking, trying to suppress a scream in pain, his body overflowing with realizing and pain.
"You've been in denial Satori." You wipe his tears and leave a kiss on his cheek, and it kills Tendou inside because he can almost feel it. He wants to feel it. Tendou wants to feel your lips on his cheeks.
"Be good ok? Remember how we were going to go to Paris? Take my memory there, take me around Paris using that photo in your wallet. Kiss me goodnight, don't forget me." Your voice is strained and Tendou can't breathe.
"You hear me Satori? Don't forget me, ok?"
"Ok." He manages, it comes out forced , and very much real. A contrast to the life he's continued to live with you in his head, his body and mind now painfully aware that he'd been walking around like a husk of his last self, his mind entertaining the hope and the denial that, you y/n, were still alive. And Tendou could kiss you, and hold your hand, and see you in his jersey one last time.
'Y/ns gone.' And with that Tendou's back to the reality he hates, where you're gone. Tendou can't breathe and his mind feels like it's a tape recorder on 3x speed.
His heart is beating and his hands are grabbing for something to ground him. Seeing his best friend break apart, Ushijima speeds over, taking big steps and allowing Tendou to grip tightly to his shirt, sobbing loudly.
"I didn't get to say goodbye." He chokes out, burying his head into Ushijima's stomach, letting out a yell of pain and heartbreak.
Ushijima feels his heart constrict at the demonstration of his best friend's pain, the red haired boy screaming into his maroon shirt, soaking through the fabric as he rests his hand on Tendou's head, rubbing it in a way he's seen you do it before.
"I loved them and I couldn't say goodbye." Tendou screams, voice raw and filled to the brim with pain, lanky body shaking violently.
"I didn't get to kiss them one last time. I didn't get to tell them I loved them. I never got to take them to Paris like we planned. I never got to give them my volleyball jersey and see them in the stands, cheering for me one last time."
Tendou and Ushijima stay like that for what seems like hours, Tendou buried in his best friend's embrace, needing to be grounded from his raging thoughts.
"I loved them Ushiwaka." Tendou whispers, no longer shaking, voice and eyes hollow.
"I know Tendou." Ushijima tried his best to sound gentle, he knows that Tendou needs it.
"I didn't get to say goodbye." Tendou's like a broken record as Ushijima helps him get off the park bench, plastic bag filled with two uneaten melted ice creams picked up and thrown out.
"We were going to see the eiffle tower." Tendou whispers from his bunk above Ushijima's.
Body heavy with exhaustion, he's about to sleep when he sits up suddenly, hands panicked as he searches for something.
"Tendou?" Came Ushijima's voice from the below bunk.
"My wallet, where's my wallet?" He's stammering and his voice is raw from sobbing and his hands are shaking as he looks.
"Tendou." Comes Ushijima's calm voice as he gently hands Tendou the wallet.
Immediately Tendou opens it, digging through to find the picture he's sure he kept in there.
Pulling it out, he smiles gently, all run out of tears, as he brings the photo shakily to his lips, kissing the photo gently and smiling, looking into your eyes, frozen in time, no idea of the future, just pure happiness.
"Goodnight, my paradise."

「USHIJIMA WAKATOSHI」
— underground! au
— warnings: violence, asphyxiation, pain, gunplay (?), kidnapping
Tumblr media
⤏ ushi, in my mind, can only fit into one role in the world of highly illegal activity: the mob boss. the man is stoic, all business, perhaps a little dense at times (but that’s what a right hand man and underlings are for); so, it only makes sense that he’d be in a position of high power
⤏ what is it they smuggle? coke— pure as snow; it’s the drug of choice for playboy billionaires and a-list celebrities. needless to say, it’s that good shit
⤏ don’t get me wrong, he didn’t choose this path. if anything, he tried ever-so desperately to avoid the family business, even going as far as separating himself from his father completely to create a better life for himself
⤏ but these types of things have a way of roping you back in, and ushijima quickly learns that you can’t escape your past. especially not when you’re on a constant run for your life, fighting off enemy mobs’ hitmen
⤏ when he finally accepts the role, he’s a natural. quick thinking, aloof, unwavering; every choice he makes, he makes with a purpose
⤏ everything’s perfect: money’s rolling in, business is booming, and the perks of being filthy fucking rich aren’t too bad either
⤏ that is, until you come along. rumored to be the most ruthless woman alive, your presence as the competitor mob’s prodigy proves to be increasingly difficult for ushi
⤏ you’re encroaching on his territory. of course, ushi needs to get rid of you; can’t have his spot taken by some heartless woman with a trigger finger
⤏ but when he has you kidnapped, he finds that task much more daunting than he believes it’ll be
“If you’re going to kill me, you might as well get it over with,” you sneer, rolling your eyes. With one leg crossed over the other and a dullness in your eyes, no one would guess your hands are bound tightly behind your back, ropes digging bright red marks into your flesh.
Your demeanor baffles Wakatoshi; he’d think someone with a gun to their temple, surrounded by dozens of mob men and murderers, would be a bit more afraid, more angry, more of anything. The rumors seem to be completely accurate— you’re apathetic beyond belief.
“Offer’s still on the table if you want me to gag her, ‘Toshi,” Tendou chirps from behind him, cackling at the whole ordeal. Sadistic motherfucker, but he’s loyal to a fault.
“No,” he sets the handgun on the table next to him with a sigh, “leave us.” The underlings file out of the room without a second glance towards you.
When he turns back to you, he can’t help but scan your form. He’s well aware he should be focusing on the task at hand— he never hesitates when it comes to disposal— but something inside of him seems utterly put off by your carefree attitude.
Wakatoshi typically likes his women submissive— compliant and willing to break under his towering frame. It’s simply easier that way. He gets what he wants, sends them on their way, and then he can go back to what matters: his business.
But you— with the supple lips drawn into an endless frown and the pretty face— he can’t seem to wrap his head around you.
“Like what you see?” your lips quirk into a cold smile, flashing him a hint of a sharp canine.
“Yes.” Wakatoshi doesn’t lie, doesn’t see the point of it. His candor seems to throw you off kilter; a hungry gleam takes the place of that usual darkness in your eyes, if only for a moment. Before you can stall any longer, he begins his questioning, “Who’s your supplier?”
No response. Just that same, detached smile.
“I’ll ask you one more time,” he stalks closer, snagging the weapon off the table. “Who’s,” he bends down. “Your,” the barrel grazes your jaw. “Supplier?” It makes its home beneath your chin, prodding against your delicate neck.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?”
He slams the frame of the gun into your cheek.
After all the indifference you’ve shown so far, Wakatoshi shouldn’t be surprised you don’t flinch. But he is; aside from a single tear trailing your face, you don’t react at all. What made you like this?
“I don’t particularly enjoy this, you know.” He fiddles with his watch, unsure why he feels he owes you any explanation at all.
“Yes you do,” your skin sports the bright, seething red of a newly forming bruise. “It makes you feel big and strong, makes you feel like a real man, huh?” For once, you show some real emotion, eyebrows furrowing in disgust.
He’s acutely aware of the subtle heat scorching his neck; it feels like he’s in the chair being interrogated at your hands. Your hands— they must be aching under the strain of the stiff rope.
Within seconds, you’re untied. Under Wakatoshi’s watchful eyes, you won’t be escaping. And even if you do— high up on the fiftieth floor and surrounded by his men— it’s not like you’ll be getting very far. You stay seated anyways, perhaps understanding the logic.
“You’re smart.” His praise is curt, nothing more than it needs to be. “I could use that around here.”
“I know,” your fingers rub at your wrists, dainty and manicured, “but I don’t play well with others.”
Having never been refused, this answer infuriates Wakatoshi, riles him up and makes him lose his cool in a way he never does. Before he knows it, his fingers are wrapped around your neck, grip just a hair away from being tight enough to leave marks.
“I think you forget I could kill you in a second.” His eyes bore into yours, watching closely for the slightest hint of fear. You simply smile through the pain, the retort sliding off your tongue barely audible: ‘but you won’t.’
His lips meet yours in a rush of fury. It’s not his fault, not at all— you’re driving him insane. He’s never met a woman who didn’t fall to his will, who didn’t fall into his lap and ask to stay for as long as possible. And it’s the thrill of that, of making you that way, that sends the blood rushing straight to his cock, already rock hard and straining against his slacks.
The position he’s in is awkward; being bent towards you gives you far too much control over the situation, makes him seem weak. Releasing your throat to grip at your soft thighs and pick you up, he seats you on the table instead.
“Here’s how this is going to go,” he murmurs against your bare shoulder, palms grazing over your hips, dashing beneath your top to nip at your waist, and finally brushing against your breasts. When he kneads at them, tweaking one of your nipples over paper-thin lingerie, he feels your breath catch. “I’m going to fuck you over this table, and then you’re going to join me.”
“Fat chance,” of course you’re still a smartass, but he has to admit, that attitude of yours sounds much better paired with slight moans and gasps, with your lips quivering instead of glued into a smirk.
But with that outburst, he grows impatient. Flipping you like a rag doll, he presses a palm tightly against your back until your cheek, the bad one, hits the table. Your tiny skirt is hiked up, your panties tugged down, and then he’s spreading your folds, sinking into you, watching your perfect nails scratch against the dark wood.
It’s tight, of course he didn’t give you any warning, but a rough finger sliding against your slit tells him all he needs to know— you’re soaked.
And then he’s pounding into you, merciless, unwavering, the version of himself he knows is true. He’s only known you an hour, and before that, through whispered rumors, but he thinks he knows you well enough.
Wakatoshi will have to break you in a few more times before you truly understand just how powerful he is.

Senior year.
I had fun writing this. It’s my first time writing Ushijima and I like what I did.
A big thanks to @loneveenas for beta-reading my work and all the great advices she gave me 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰
I wrote this for the HQ Writers’ Net  monthly prompt! My prompt is: New Beginnings.

Who the hell changed school in their senior year? Probably only you. It's not like you had a ton of friends to left behind anyways. On top of that, the last person you dated turned out to be a shit, so maybe this family drama and moving to another city was good. More so when you got a recommendation to enter a great Academy, Shiratorizawa, your mom's contacts finally put to good use, or so she said.
You became friends with a guy in your class who saw you playing guitar after lunch and approached you.
"Do you play? That's cool," he said, casually, as if he didn't spot you from across the campus.
"Uhm yeah, thanks," you forced a smile.
"Semi-semi, is this the new girl in your class? Hi! I'm Tendou Satori, Semi's best friend," a redhead sang from behind this Semi guy.
"No you're not, ugh," Semi pushed the other boy off him and he smiled at you.
"Hi Satori, hi Semi. I'm [y/n][l/n], nice to meet you both."
                                                       -*-*-*-*-*-
Within a few months, a lot of talks and pranks and a ton of hours playing guitar together, you and Semi Eita became best friends. Your taste in music, your passion in pursuing dreams, your humor, it was like you were siblings.
With him, and Satori, you got to know the whole Shiratorizawa Volleyball Club, and of course their ace: Ushijima Wakatoshi.
You and Ushijima had encountered each other a few times. Well, a “few” to say the least. He had seen you multiple times hanging out with Eita-kun outside the gym, just killing time until he had to practice. Today was not an exception.
“Ushijima-san! Is it practice time already?” Semi stood up and dusted his pants.
“No, it’s not. I’m here early,” the tall guy said, serious as usual.
“I can set for you,” Eita offered.
“If you want…” he said and kept walking.
“Do you want to watch, [y/n]? You can stay until it’s really the time for practice” Semi said, offering you his hand to help you get up.
“Am I allowed to?” you said. “Your handsome captain kinda intimidates me,” you said, entering the gym behind Semi, and loud enough for Ushijima to hear you.
If he did he didn’t react, Semi set ball after ball for him to spike, and it was interesting to watch. You grabbed your sketchbook and pencil and started drawing a few lines here and there from both boys playing.
“Ooooh~ will you draw me too?” Satori appeared out of nowhere and was crouching by your side, looking at your sketches.
“Of course I will, if you play,” you answered. The boys in the court were looking at your interaction with the middle blocker.
“Are you drawing us?” Semi said, walking your way. “Let me see.”
Ushijima was intrigued, he’s not gonna lie to himself. All of you intrigued him and it was so confusing to him. He walked to the bench and drinked water while you showed his teammates your drawings.
“Wakatoshi! Yours is great, come to see it!” Satori pulled him from his shirt, and you held your notebook for him to watch. “This is great, you should be a mangaka,” Satori said.
“It’s just a hobby,” you laughed. You saw Washijo-sensei arrive to the gym. You got your belongings together quickly so the old sensei couldn't scold you for intruding his practice. “See you later guys!” you exited the building from the contrary door where the coach was standing.
Ushijima was flattered. No one before had drawn him and showed said draw to him. You really were intriguing.
                                                      -*-*-*-*-*-
The next day you get to the volleyball table, as people called it, looking for Semi. You were one of the few affortunates outside the team, if not the only one, to sit there from time to time.
“Can I help you?” Ushijima asked.
"I was looking for Eita," you said. Your eyes were red, as if you were crying.
"He's sick, he isn't coming today," Leon answered.
"Oh, that's why I couldn't reach him… Thanks and sorry for interrupting."
You turned around, leaving a table full of volleyball players confused. Satori took his food and followed you to another table.
"Are you ok?" He said, sitting in front of you and offering his food.
"Yep. All good," you forced a smile. "Just needed Eita."
"You're catching someone else's attention~" he said, gesturing with his head to his previous table. Ushijima was looking at you, no intentions of being subtle. Not that he cared about what anyone else thinks but he really wasn't trying. "I can get you his address if you want to check on him," Tendou offered.
"I'd like that, thanks Satori."
You ended at Semi's house after school, sitting at the end of his bed while he was just lying there recovering from a fever.
"I'm sorry to come and bother you when you're like this," you ended telling him your newest family drama. The fact that your father tried to convince you with material stuff, such as a car or money, so you went to live with him made you upset, it made you feel like he didn't love you, he just wanted to win something to your mom. You were almost crying again.
"It's ok, I told you I'd be there no matter what and I'm keeping my promise. I can't hug you right now so just hug my pillow instead."
"I'm definitely getting sick after this," you laughed.
"Ushijima texted me. He was worried about you," your friend said and waited for your reaction.
"Bullshit," you scoffed and Semi lent you his phone.
Eita-kun, [y/n] was looking for you and didn't look good. Is she ok? you had read the text a few times but still didn't believe it.
"I told him it was a family business and I'll keep him updated," he waited a minute for you to say something and took his phone back. "Oh my, you're speechless."
"This doesn't make any sense," you looked at Semi. "He doesn't even talk to me."
"He's just like that," he shrugged. "But obviously he has you in mind. Maybe you actually have a chance to get your crush."
"I don't have a crush on him," you lied.
You were observing him since you started the year at his same class. Besides his looks, he was handsome, his personality was intriguing. He was interesting. His stoic face, his direct manners, his apparent lack of interest in anything but volleyball, his persistence with practicing, all about him and the intensity he did anything with was outstanding for you.
"Yeah the ton of sketches you have of him don't say the same," your friend scoffed.
You thought Eita didn't notice it, but he did: how your gaze lasted a few seconds longer on him than on anyone else, the way you blush when he greets you every morning, the sudden shyness when he approached Semi and you when you were playing guitar on the breaks, the fact that you had an obvious fixation on drawing the ace of the team, and he could go on the whole day.
You left Semi's house that day finally admitting that maybe, just maybe you did have a crush on his captain.
                                                      -*-*-*-*-*-
A week later you were sick. It's your fault so come over here and bring me some snacks and any homework we get, you texted you friend. And of course his only brain cell found a way to try and help you become close to your crush.
"Ushijima-san, can I ask you a favor?" Eita took the captain away from everyone after class and when he nodded, Eita continued. "[Y/n] couldn't come today and she asked me to get her the homework from math class. I can't bring it to her today but she lives near your house, maybe you can drop it on your way home? Only if you want, I don't want to bother you," he didn't even have an excuse, but he hoped his teammate didn’t ask why. "I'm sorry, I don't really trust anyone else to do it," he bowed.
"I can do it, no problem," Wakatoshi said. He could be reliable, it was his duty as captain, right?
And there he was, knocking on your door. He would just drop Semi's notes and leave, maybe he'd have time to practice some more on his house.
"It's open!" you said from inside.
"[Y/n]-san? It's Ushijima Wakatoshi. May I come in?" he was standing at the entrance. He closed the door behind him and noticed that your house smelled like you. He heard you cough in surprise.
"Yes, come in!"
He saw you in the living room, on the couch and wrapped up in a blanket.
"Hi, Ushijima-kun. I'm so sorry to bother you. I don't know what happened to Semi, he's a douchebag. Thanks so much for coming," you stood up and got the notebook from his hand.
"You shouldn't have left your door unlocked" he commented. "Are your parents home?"
"Mom works late today, so, no," you stood up and started walking to the kitchen.
"And your father?"
"Not in the picture," you smiled but it didn't reach your eyes. You were mad and still avoiding him after the 'come live with me and you'll get a car' thing, it wasn't the best thing Ushijima could ask at the moment. "Can I offer you some tea? Or coffee?" You walked behind the kitchen counter.
"I’m sorry. Just a tea please," he sat at your table. He wasn't planning on staying but he made you uncomfortable by asking things about your family and he couldn't just leave now.
"It's nothing. He barely was around so now that I grow up it's not a big deal," you set a cup of tea in front of him and another in front of you. "Is your family waiting for you? I don't want to keep you."
"I let them know I was coming to a classmate's house, so it's ok."
He drank his tea in silence, your tv playing softly in the background. He felt something touch his leg and saw a big grey cat.
"Grape, leave him alone!" you scolded. "Sorry, he's excited to have visits. We don't receive much people besides Eita," you smiled. Ushijima thought this was the first genuine smile he saw on you, and he liked it. The cat made his way to your lap and purred.
"He's nice," he stated. What was it about you that he found so fascinating?
"Oh, I drawed something to make a flyer for the next tournament. Do you want to see it?" you offered and went to find it. You were back with a big drawing with him in the middle and the rest of the team from major to minor by his sides. "This was fun to do, and the fact that you're the tallest also made it easier."
"It looks good. Thanks for doing this, I’m sorry we can’t repay you," he felt kinda bad about it.
"I like to do it, so it's fine. Semi buys me snacks for this so he’s repaying," you giggled. You took his empty cup and yours and went to the kitchen to wash it.
Ushijima couldn't help himself and went through your drawings while he waited for your return. You were really good, Tendou was right.  He saw there were a lot of him: him in lunch, him looking absentmindedly at the window in class, him in the court and spiking, him and Semi talking. Each one was better than the last. This was how you looked at him? You made him look way cooler than he thought he was.
You took a little longer than usual to wash two empty cups but you needed a minute to recompose yourself, you felt nervous and flustered, the fever you had wasn't helping either. Then you turned around, ready to talk about nothing again, and Wakatoshi was looking through your sketchbook. He was looking at your drawings. To be more specific, he was looking at his drawings. Shit, he wasn't supposed to see those. You walked slowly back to the table.
"Oh I'm… really embarrassed, you shouldn't have seen that," you were now standing at the opposite side of the table, his eyes still fixated on your sketches. “I can discard them if it makes you uncomfortable,” you held your hand open for him to return your notebook. He looked up. You were blushing.
“I like them. I really like that you draw me,” he admitted and returned your sketches. “I have to go now. Thanks for the tea.”
“Thanks for coming,” you said and watched him leave. You exhaled a breath you didn't know you were holding as you saw his back fading at the distance.
That was fucking unreal. You felt overwhelmed and there was only a person to blame. No, not Ushijima, he was being nice, in his own way. I’ll fucking kill you tomorrow istg, you texted Semi. He felt triumphant and didn’t care about your death threat. Yeah you can thank me later, he responded.
                                                      -*-*-*-*-*-
The next day Eita received glares from you all morning, you refused to talk to him. He didn’t really care, he knew his little trick yesterday had been put into effect when Ushijima asked him that morning if you were coming to school today. You avoided your usual table and sat alone at lunch, away from the volleyball club table and away from your friend, maybe when he didn't find you he'd leave you alone for the day.
“Hey,” he said when he found you and he sat in front of you. “Come on, you can’t be mad forever [y/n], I’m your best friend,” he whined a little.
“Shut up, he saw all my fucking sketches. He might think I’m a stalker and it’s your fault,” you hissed. You felt Ushijima’s stare all morning and now you saw him looking at you and Semi when he stood up and followed the team to exit the cafeteria.
“He’s looking this way, isn’t he? He asked for you today, before you arrived. So, I won. You’re really on his mind!” he grinned.
"You're way too excited for this. He's probably thinking how to tell me that I throw all of the drawings I did of him!"
"I wouldn't ask you that. I like them."
Suddenly, a tall figure was behind you. You glared at Semi for not warning you and turned around to greet Ushijima.
"Can I talk to you for a second?" he said in the same casual tone he used before.
"I'll leave you two alone. Find me later, ok?" Eita smiled at you and at his captain before leaving.
"Hi Wakatoshi-kun," you felt your cheeks turn red. "Thanks again for coming yesterday and keeping me company. I enjoyed it. I'm sorry that Eita bothered you."
"I'm… I had a good time too," how could he explain what he felt? It was all too confusing. "I was thinking if you would like to come and see me at our practice game tomorrow after class?" that couldn't fail. He saw his teammates asking their girlfriends to come and watch their games. Well- you weren't his girlfriend. Not yet. But this could be a good start.
"Oh… yeah I'd like that," you smiled.
Wait, did he just think about you being his girlfriend?
                                                      -*-*-*-*-*-
And there you were. Sitting on the floor by the door, sketching again while the guys did their warm up. Ushijima had seen you arriving and slightly bowed his head to say hi.
"Hey." Semi approached you. "I didn't tell you we were playing. What are you doing here?"
"I'm sorry? Someone else invited me, you shitty friend," you smiled.
Eita knew that smile wasn't for him, you were still pretending to be mad at him. He turned around to follow your gaze and saw Ushijima looking back at you. It was almost imperceptible but he was smiling too. Wakatoshi was smiling at you.
"Oh, you so owe me one," Semi said and went back to the court.
You were going to insult him again but he was too far when you reacted. Well, maybe you did owe him, but you had something else in mind at the moment. When the game was over, and Shiratorizawa obviously won, Ushijima approached you.
“If you want to wait a bit I’ll walk you home, we’re having a meeting and then I’m done,” he explained.
“Of course, I’ll be sitting outside waiting for you,” you smiled. You were smiling a lot that day.
Ten or twenty minutes later, you didn’t really know, he was standing behind you and observing how you finished a drawing.
“Oh, Ushijima-kun! Sorry, didn’t hear you were here. Are you ready to go?” you closed your sketchbook and put it back on your backpack.
He nodded and offered his hand to help you stand. Remember Wakatoshi, ask her about how she feels and if she has someone in mind, like a crush or something, Tendou said before he left. No, he couldn’t do that. He couldn’t have a casual talk like that out of nowhere. But he could try.
“You played well today. I mean, you always do, but you were like even better today,” you said when you started walking out of school.
“I didn’t know you understand about volleyball,” he said. He felt in better shape today too, for some reason.
“Uh yeah, my… the last guy I dated played too. He was good and he explained it to me, so I have a pretty decent knowledge and I can tell when someone is good. You’re awesome.”
“You don’t… anymore? Date them, I mean,” well maybe he can do small talk.
“No!” that was too enthusiastic. “I mean, no, I don’t. That was one of the reasons I moved here, besides from my parents divorce. There’s this saying that goes like better be alone than in bad company. Well, my mom and I sticked to that,” you laughed. He liked that, your laugh and how you can laugh from the bad experiences.
“Am I a good company?” he was genuinely curious but it sounded like he was flirting, though he had no idea how to do it.
“Yes you are!” you said quickly, you didn't even need to think, of course he was. You stopped and looked at him. “I uhm… I like you, Ushijima-kun. Like romantically? I don’t know if that makes sense to you but…”
“I like you too, I think. I keep getting distracted when you’re around at school and today I wanted to impress you, so I tried to play at my %120,” he interrupted.
“Yeah, that sounds like you like me,” you giggled. He was so bold and sincere. “Can I kiss you?”
His mind went blank for a minute. Had he even kiss someone before? Yeah, at that dumb 'spin the bottle' game, on the party his teammates organized for the beginning of their senior year. Had he kissed someone he felt something for? No, definitely no. He wasn't even sure he liked someone before. His mind was put on volleyball the whole time.
He was staring at you. Your eyes were on his, expectant. He sighed and put his big hands on your waist, instinctively closing the distance between your bodies. You felt his warm through your shirt. You put your hands over his and made your way up his arms slowly. Even on your tiptoes you didn’t reach his mouth so when he finally nodded you pulled him down by the collar of his jacket.
It was a soft and chaste kiss, his chapped lips felt so good against your own. You caressed them with the tip of your tongue, hesitant. He mimicked your actions and your tongues explored each other's mouth shily. You retreated for a second to look him in the eyes. He smiled and kissed you again, this time with the same passion he did everything else on his life. It was more insistent, almost clingy. You tangled a hand on his hair, it was incredibly soft, and the other rested on his chest. When you separated looking for air, his hands were still holding firmly to your waist.
“Semi… Eita-kun told me you had a bad experience with your ex. I would never do such a thing. If you want, I can try and give you a new beginning, a new experience…”
“Ushijima, are you asking me to date you?” you interrupted, surprised. You also made a mental note to punch Semi. “Oh my, the Ushijima Wakatoshi is asking me out, for god’s sake” you didn’t want to tease him but you couldn’t help yourself.
He looked at you, unamused. This wasn’t a joke to him but he learned that your way of coping with things was through laughter, so he waited for you to pass the surprise and be serious again, the whole time holding you from your waist against his body.
“You’re not answering,” he said after a minute. You were just looking at him and blushing.
“I want to,” you said and caressed his face. “I’d like that, yeah. So… can I call you my boyfriend now?”
“Yes you can, you're my girlfriend now,” he simply said. He let you go and started walking again as if nothing happened.
“Can I hold your hand?” when he hummed in response, you kept talking. “And can I kiss you tomorrow at lunch? Oh everyone’s gonna be so surprised!” you looked at your hands held together.
He laughed at your silly questions and comments about how your classmates were going to react when they saw you together. You arrived at your home and he walked you to the door.
“For real, can I kiss you in front of everyone tomorrow? I don’t want to make you uncomfortable,” you were just joking before but now you really wanted him to voice his thoughts.
“Yes, just not in class,” he answered. “Sadly, I have to go now so I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Text me when you get home,” you said and he kissed you one more time before leaving.
                                                      -*-*-*-*-*-
"Maybe, just maybe, I owe you a big one," you said the next morning after greeting Semi.
"Yeah, how's that?" your friend asked with a satisfied smile.
"I confessed yesterday. And it went even better than I thought."
"Yeah, I know. Tendou told me. I can't believe you didn't call me yesterday after it happened," he whispered, he was offended. "Maybe the whole school knows by now."
You laughed out loud. Ushijima told you he mentioned the situation to Satori, he was his best friend and the one who advised him to confess his feelings, so you texted him too to thank him.
"I wanted to surprise you, I didn't expect the rumor to spread throughout the school like fire!"
And in fact, by lunchtime the whole school was talking about you and how could it be that the new girl conquered Ushijima’s heart in a few months? If the girls didn't like you before, now some of them definitely hated you. It didn't really matter, you would make it work. After almost a year of bad experiences, you were happy again.
                                                      -*-*-*-*-*-
Your relationship with Ushijima was easier than you expected, somehow your opposite personalities balanced each other. Your routine didn’t change that much, but now you walked home in your boyfriend’s company everyday. Your mom loved him, of course she did, he was a gentleman, he even bought her a present the day you asked him to come dinner to meet her.
Your senior year was coming to an end, and you were more than happy with all the new things that came with it.
"Would you come to prom with me?" Ushijima asked at the end of the day.
You were chilling on your couch after his practice, watching a volleyball game of a team he liked. Your legs were tangled together, your back resting on his chest and his head resting on top of your head.
"Of course, Toshi! I wouldn't want to go with anyone else," you took his hand and kissed it, both of you still focused on the game.
He didn't think you'd say no, but he had to make sure, just in case.
Almost five months have passed since the day he asked you to date him and he was sure of two things about his future: he wanted to be a professional player and he wanted to spend as many time as he could with you, maybe not necessarily in that order.
Neither of you believed in 'happily ever after', not with your respective parents' divorce, but you did believe in spending many years together, making each other happy.

Haikyuu!! Virus Au(Random/Reader) Part 2
Warning: Blood, gore, subtle mention of character death
                 Virus au! Part 1
Tumblr media
                                     Tendou felt like absolute shit.
His feet dragged across the school’s now dirty floor. A bright orange and purplish hue crystalized the walls nearly blinding his field of vision. Warm wind blew in between the nailed up boards. The glass broke a while ago from an incident a few days back involving a second year jumping from the third floor hallway.
Ever since the outbreak his attitude regressed back to his childhood demeanor. He puts on an act for the rest of the team’s first years. But, distancing himself emotionally from the rest of the team. Ushijima could read him like a book on some days, but Semi and Reon could tell exactly what was going on in his head with each fake smile.
The school went on lockdown a while back. Whoever was in the school stayed in the school. Which in turn left a lot of students stuck within the walls of the private school. The volleyball team stayed overtime that day and so did some other students that didn’t want to go home early and stayed cooped up in their dorm rooms.
At the time we didn’t know about the disease. The only indication of the world changing were the warning sirens that Japan uses for missiles firing. So, we all thought another bombing was going to happen in Japan.
Coach Washijo was called down to the teachers lounge and before he went gave Ushijima instructions and a key to the bunker of the school. It wasn’t until much later that they rounded up all the students into the gymnasium. As we were guided to the gym, Tendou took quick notice of the boarded up gate. What used to be the plain metal bar gate was now being boarded up with planks of plywood.
What was even stranger was the bleak silence. Not a single sound came to Tendou ears, usually the noise of birds singing and cars driving nearby would be heard. He just chalked it up to the sirens blaring that silenced the animals and most people would already be inside if the warning sirens went off.
As we were piled in the gym our principal stood on the stage, his intense gaze loomed down over all of us. Some of the teachers were already on break until April and most stayed behind for the time being in preparation for the next year. The ones that did stay were only a few, most of them being the honors class teachers and the exception of Coach Washijo.
If Tendou didn’t already feel anxious he did now. He remembered the air getting thicker and the slow realization of his paradise falling further from his fingertips.
The door to the class 3-2 opened and a brown haired girl slumped out the doorway, her hair a matted mess and her clothes at this point are just rags. Her crestfallen face was something to be depressed about. She slumped off down the hall, leisurely being drawn over by the darkness. The next person to come out was a breath of fresh air. Goshiki popped his head out into the hallway and gave Tendou a small smile, before ushering him in. The faint smell of medical supplies and the musky smell of the half washed invaded his nasal passage.
Dread filled his body as he noticed how many of his old schoolmates layed stiff and sickly on the makeshift beds. Desks were pushed together to make new beds once the nurse's beds in the clinic ran out. He could make out some familiar faces here and there, faces all a little pale and dark under the eyes. However, some of them on closer examination had sunken in cheeks, greyish skin and a strong pungent odor emanating from specific bodies he passed.
Stopping in his tracks Tendou glanced down at the dark haired ginger. Dark brown eyes soulless starred as they gazed at the white ceiling. Chunks of hair fell off in clumps littering the floor with red splotches and slowly gathering pools of blood underneath the lumps of torn flesh. Flies quickly gathered on the discarded meat. A brave soul walked over and tossed the lumps into a garbage bag and quickly moved on to do the same to other large heaps that lay slumped on the floor.
Tendou groaned and pulled the mask that laid on his chest up to his face, the smell only dimmed it. It was still present but not as bad now. Goshiki led him deeper into the classroom, the smell seemed to grow fainter with each step.
Tendou knew what he was going to see however he brushed it off as he took another glance around the room. His eyes watered, the smell really is getting to him.
Goshiki slid the curtain open to reveal a certain third year student. “We’re here, Tendou. Please, don’t make too much noise, we just got him to calm down. He’s been convulsing since last night and we finally managed to tranquilize him.”
“Tranquilize?” He questioned.
Goshiki nodded, “We had to. He bit two of the people we had come to give him medicine and he just kept screaming and kicking people.”
“Wakatoshi didn’t tell me that.”
“Coach told us not to bother you with this. That you didn’t need to be affected any further, he’s been worried about you Tendou.”
“He doesn't need to be. I’m fine.”
Goshiki gave a brisk nod back and walked out of sight. Taking his seat he stared down at the young man.
The body of Semi, Eita laid on his back. His once lively eyes are now cast over by a grey screen, kind of like a dead fish.
He would like to think that maybe it was his fault Semi got hurt, but no he can’t really blame himself. Semi and him both decide to split up to repair the school wall. While he worked on the wreck Semi jumped on the car and over the wall. Him and a few other students pulled on the hunk of metal as Tendou and a few others pushed the car out. Apparently there was a survivor underneath the car and Semi with another student tried pulling him out. He didn’t know what happened afterward, all he heard were the others rushing Semi back over the gate.
“Hey, there Semisemi.” He tried to make a smile pull at the corner of his lips, but failed. “I really hope you’re getting better.”
No answer.
Tendou put a shaking hand down on top of the old pinch server’s chest. The steady heartbeat of Eita softly battered against his palm.

“I don’t know what to say. . .sorry I was never great at vocalizing my emotions.” The sunken cheeks of his friend looked surreal and Semi’s shallow breathing made him feel anxious. Dried lips, chapped from hours without moisture. “You're really green in the face, Semisemi. Did you eat today? I’m pretty sure I have some umaibo in my dorm room. It's probably stale, but still sort of edible.”
Thump

“Maybe when all of this is over we can all go to a karaoke room together, play a couple rounds of volleyball like old times sake.” Tendou started to spout about all the good times they had together. The weeks before felt like a lifetime. He’s seen students go mad over the isolation, grow depressed from the loss of loved ones and everything in between.
Thump

His mind aimlessly wondered to his family. His mother is probably the only family member he cares about. His father left them at a very young age. Tendou’s mom never spoke ill of the man even when she heard he was getting remarried last year. She’s a kind soul, and Tendou could clearly tell he didn’t inherit his mother’s benevolence. The patience she had could rival that of a Siberian tiger.
Soft moaning came from the bed ridden teen. Tendou’s heart skipped a beat and a soft grin formed on his lips. Low gurgles sounded from the back of his throat and Tendou panicked. He quickly moved Semi over onto his side and swiftly scooted his body away from the bile escaping his mouth. Coating the floor in a thick black paste.
. . .
. . .
. . .
Something is very wrong.
Why is his vomit black? And when did his heart stop beating? It was fine earlier and Semi was just breathing pretty average. So, why is he still breathing if his heart stopped?
Before Tendou could yell for help, his body was violently yanked. Semi’s once feeble hand was now forcibly dragging Satori. He was pulled towards the bed and in a blur of fight or flight he chose to flee. Tendou maneuvered his right arm behind himself to grab a hold of Semi’s hand. It was cold and felt like plastic. He tried to wrestle Semi’s strong grasp off his shoulder yet to no avail couldn’t free himself. He wiggled back and forth, even placing his feet on Semi’s chest and was able to give some distance between one another. However, it was short lived as the being that used to be Semi seemed to gain a small power boost and was able to dig his fingers into Tendou’s jacket. Tendou thrusted his right leg out and pressed it against the wall. A loud thwack resonated in the classroom as he fell against the hard tile floor.
Steamy expiration landed near his neck, the smell just alone made him gag. Tears built up in his eyes and before he knew it his old friend’s mouth fell open. He’s gonna kill me.
Tendou’s mind went into a flurry of rushed thoughts. He could just feel the piercing of his flesh being torn open. Out of instinct he swung his arm back and his elbow made contact with a solid object. Semi fell off him again, his body sliding across the ground, and tearing down the heavyweight curtain.
Students slowly walked towards the disturbance happening in the back. Three students seized Semi and pinned him on his stomach before lifting him up forcibly dragging him out the room. Some of the others asked Tendou if he was alright, but all Tendou could do was stare in fixation at Semi’s now pink eyes.

The first two weeks were like this; you would try to talk to Wakatoshi and be nice, and he would be the absolute worst to you. His cold words and harsh tone didn’t sooth the aching in your heart that you felt every time he looked at you with those pretty olive colored eyes. He was different no doubt, but you knew it was because of you that he’d become like this. You left him behind without a moments hesitation and expected him to be happy to see you; boy were you wrong.
With a heavy sigh, you brushed some hair from your face as you sorted through the chicken coop, collecting all the eggs you could find. A beautiful red hen sat on the top tier and stared at you with her little beady eyes. “I don’t know what to do about him.” You said to the chicken who titled her head at you in confusion. Reaching up, you gently petted her head, watching her eyes slowly close in affection, before you turned and left the coop, basket of eggs in hand.
Your eyes caught sight of Wakatoshi walking through the back garden, a variety of carrots in each hand. He stopped walking when he looked up and made eye contact with you, causing you to lower your gaze and head inside the main house.
The kitchen was bustling with noise and the grandparents both smiled at you when you set the basket of eggs down. “Oh goodness, look at all those eggs. Better get a few cartons and fill them up - we can sell those are the market today.” The grandmother grinned, watching as her grandson walked in, carrots in hand. “Are there more?”
“Lots.” He replied bluntly, setting them in the sink and rinsing them off. Both grandparents watched as you stood back to back from him, trying your hardest not to say anything. Flipping through the newspaper, the grandpa mumbled something under his breath earning a glare from his wife.
“How about you two sell at the market today instead of us?” She suggested with a knowing grin. Your head shot up to look at her as well as Wakatoshi’s, disbelief on both of your faces. “Just like old times.” She smiled, watching as you nodded, packing more eggs in cartons.
“Did you clean or disinfect those?” Wakatoshi said coldly, watching you stiffen and look at the eggs in your hands. He scoffed and you felt your face heat up with embarrassment. You couldn’t admit that you weren’t told to; you didn’t want to embarrass his grandmother.
“I forgot.” You said meekly, your heart hammering in your chest.
Wakatoshi let out a breath, “Of course you did.” His words made your heart sink lower into your chest and you heard his grandfather snap at him, causing him to walk out the door.
“Don’t worry about those, I’ll do them. You just go get cleaned up and we can go to the market together.” Grandmother said, watching you trudge off with a sad look on your face. “Those two are going to kill me.” She sighed, watching her husband look at her sternly.
“They’ll come around. He’s just being an ass because he got his feelings hurt.” Grandfather chuckled, earning a small hum from the woman as she continued with the eggs.
*
It had been years since the last time you came to the market, but it was just how you remembered it. There were a lot of people wandering to various booths set up in the middle of town. Grandmother sat beside you, waving off another customer who had bought a few heads of corn. “What do you do for business in the winter?” You asked after bagging up an order of various vegetables for a customer.
“We sell winter vegetables mainly; squash and all those good things. Last year I finally got enough blackberry’s and strawberry’s to make jam and those were hits.” She told you as your customer payed and left the booth. “If you freeze the fruits during the summer and fall, it preserves them long enough to make jam to sell in the winter.”
You nodded, finally sitting down for a second and watching everyone walk around. Scanning the area, your eyes landed on a familiar face and you immediately stood up. “I’ll be right back.” You told the woman next to you who waved you off.
Walking across the street to a booth that had many varieties of chocolates, you caught the eyes of a all too familiar boy who ran at you full speed. “(Y/N)! You’re back!” The red head swept you up in a hug, swaying you around a bit before letting you breathe. “I haven’t seen you since high school, how have you been?” Tendo grinned down at you with wide eyes.
“I’ve been good. I came back for a few months to help out at the farm, what about you?” You asked, watching him step back and point to his booth.
“I’m a chocolatier. Went to a big fancy college for it and everything.” He smiled and handed you a piece of chocolate, watching you eat it.
“This is amazing.” You gasped, savoring the way in melted on your tongue effortlessly. “I’m so happy for you, although I didn’t think I’d ever see you doing this.” You laughed. There was no doubt he looked different for sure; he’d aged like fine wine and his hair was way shorter than you remembered. However, he still held that boyish charm.
“Me neither. After graduation, everyone parted ways and I decided to go to this college in the city and here I am now. I actually get to go all over Japan and next spring I plan to grow my small business.” He said, referring to the booth. “I already have offers in the UK.” He grinned and you beamed at him.
“That’s so great, Tendo. I’m glad you were able to find a new paradise.” The boy nodded and helped a customer before turning his attention back to you.
“What about you? I know you left first out of all of us third years- where did you go?” He asked.
“I went to America. I had a good job offer there that would also pay for my training and any college I would want to I took it.”
“So that’s what happened.” He said as though he was connecting the dots to something in his head. “You’ve seen Wakatoshi then?” You nodded and he rubbed the back of his head.
“I know I hurt him by leaving, but why did he stay here? He was going to be big and famous from some club he was a part of.” You said and Tendo shrugged.
“He never told anyone why. Even Semi couldn’t get it out of him. Which by the way did you know he’s a musician now?” The two of you continued to chatter about other classmates and their futures before you decided to make your way back to your booth, not without Tendo giving you his number of course. The rest of the day was calm and when the sun started to set, you packed up what was left at your booth and headed back with grandmother.
The drive was long back to the farm and you found yourself dozing off a bit but waking up when you heard the front gate screech open. With a yawn, you got out of the car and helped take the rest of the food inside, setting it down on the kitchen table and looking out the window above the sink. You could see the barn from there and inside you watched as Wakatoshi took a horse from its stable, walking it to the back probably to get washed.
Mind made up, you walked to the barn with a headstrong approach. Making your way to the back, you found the horse and him standing next to it, but it was not getting washed. Wakatoshi tightened the saddle on the black beast and was about to slip his foot in one of the stirrups to get on when you spoke up, “Why did you stay?”
His head snapped towards you and the horse looked at you as well, curious as to who you were. It turned and faced you, inching towards your slowly but getting stopped by the man holding its reigns. “That doesn’t concern you.” He replied coldly, watching you roll your eyes.
“Well what about Tendo. Remember him? Your best friend from high school.” You watched as his olive eyes widened, “Yeah, I saw him today and he said he had no idea why you stayed. Strange.” The man in front of you narrowed his eyes at your assumption.
“I stayed because someone had to. Everyone else left, so I stayed.” He sighed, mounting the horse and turning it around to leave the other end of the barn.
“You were going to make something of yourself and because of a breakup, you decided to waste your life here.” You said, causing him to halt the horse’s movements. He turned slightly in the saddle to look back at you. A heated glare in his eyes made you want to cower.
“I’m not wasting my life and it wasn’t a breakup.” He scoffed, watching your face pale slightly, “How can two people break up if they were never together in the first place? You said it yourself, (Y/N), we were never good for each other.” With that, he turned and rode out of the barn, leaving you standing there with a heavy heart and a twisted gut.

there are children present (pt. 1)
doctor! ushijima wakatoshi x doctor! reader
ushijima is was your typical pediatrician at the miyagi health clinic
the only difference is he’s 6′2 and very beefy which is pretty funny when he’s surrounded by kid-size furniture everyday
his rough exterior scares his patients at times but everyone in the pediatrics department knows he’s a real softie on the inside
everyone until y/n joins the pediatrics team at the miyagi health clinic
on her first day of work, y/n lost her way around the big building
she looked in all directions hoping someone would see her confused stares and help a poor girl out
luckily ushijima spotted the girl while she was looking down at her phone, seeing the message her supervisor had sent her yesterday about the wing she would be working in
however, in y/n’s eyes, seeing a giant walking towards her with an intimidating aura made the girl shiver in her hospital clogs
as ushijima grew closer to her, she flinched in fear, and began chanting words along the lines of “pls spare me”
when ushijima saw her visibly shaking in his presence, his face morphed into one of confusion
in his mind he was questioning do I really scare people that much
he took a deep breath and mustered up the most gentle, nurturing voice he could to speak to the woman
“I apologize if I startled you, it was never my intention. you just looked lost and I thought you would need some of my assistance” ushijima said shyly
y/n feels terrible having misjudged his intentions and forms a look of guilt on her face after hearing him speak to her, having a minor yachi panicking moment
“I’m so sorry, I’m just nervous around new people. I would greatly appreciate some help finding my way to the pediatrics department please. I would hate to be late on my first day” y/n responds while craning her neck upwards to look at the tower man
ushijima nods, letting out a quiet “follow me” as he led her to the department he works in everyday
as they arrive to the pediatrics department, y/n is in awe at the miniature chairs and table fit for toddlers, chalkboard cluttered with doodles, and small toys in the waiting area
suddenly she hears the receptionist greet ushijima from the counter
“ahh hello yamagata, I see you came into the office earlier than usual today” ushijima replies stoically, proceeding to scan his card into the door, allowing him access to the department
y/n begins to question how he has access to the pediatrics department, believing he worked in a different department and only helped to guide her to where she needed to go
as she goes in, she is greeted by her supervisor
however, she did not expect for her supervisor to be a grumpy old man with the bushiest eyebrows she has ever seen
“hello, you must be y/n. I am your supervisor tanji washijou. I see you have met our top pediatrician, Dr. Ushijima Wakatoshi” the elder greeted the poor girl whose soul has suddenly left her body
not only did she misjudge ushijima when he was trying to help her, he’s also her coworker
“you will be assigned a nurse who will be your partner working here. your patients are now their patients, so it’s best to get to know your nurse as you will have to work together to help the patients that come in” washijou continues
the girl nods as she follows washijou down a long hall to an office area where she sees the room section off into cubicles that are labeled with a name plate for each pediatrician
y/n spots the cubicle that has her name plastered on one of its walls and walks towards it
“I see you have found your cubicle, this is where you will work when you have no appointments, whether it’s looking at documents and analyzing test results, all that will happen in here” washijou explains
y/n nods signifying that she understood the elder’s words and began looking around her cubicle, imagining the personal items she may store here to make it feel cozier
washijou brings her out of her thoughts as he walks out the door, informing the young woman that he will be bringing her assigned nurse to her cubicle so they could get to know one another.
as y/n is unpacking her work bag, she hears the door open which causes her to see who is entering office area
she sees two men walking towards her, one immensely tall and the other shorter in comparison to the giant he stands next to
the shorter male has noticeable ash blonde hair with darker tips, although he looks tough, she notices a comforting aura surrounding him which makes her less frightened than her previous encounters
the taller male, for sure intimidated the poor new girl he’s 6′2 with dark ginger hair and although he is on the lankier side, his resting face is what causes the girl to avoid his piercing stare
as they stop in front of the girl, she realizes these are the nurses that have been assigned to her
“hello, my name is semi eita. I am a registered nurse who has been here for a few years. I look forward to getting to know you and working along side you” the shorter male introduces himself
y/n notices his gentle, deep voice that has put her in a calmer state as she replies “good morning, I am y/n y/l/n, I am excited to work with you as well and hope we can build a closer bond as we work alongside one another”
noticing the poor girl fiddling with her fingers as she glances at his taller counterpart, semi begins once again, “this is kawanishi taichi, he is currently fulfilling his residency requirements under my supervision, so he will also be working fairly close beside you”
“I look forward to working with you” kawanishi speaks for the first time in his lazy tone while bowing to the girl
“thank you, I hope to provide a good learning experience for you” y/n responds, bowing back to the tall boy
soon, the door is being opened again, and y/n sees ushijima walking in with a tall red head wearing blue scrubs
“I’m just saying wakatoshi-kun, the content within the jump magazines are more amusing than the ads” the tall red head asserts
ushijima nods and then approaches the trio standing at y/n’s cubicle
“hello Dr. y/l/n, this is my nurse tendou satori. I apologize, he’s a little bit on the loud side” ushijima says quite bluntly
“wakatoshi-kun, that’s very harsh to say. I’m hurt” tendou replies
y/n giggles before responding back, “pleasure to meet you tendou, I hope to be able to get to know you better while working in the same department with you”
the rest of the day was spent with the five getting to know each other due to the slow day in the office and none of them having any appointments for the day
during the next few months, y/n is forming close bonds with those she met on her first day (minus washijou) and adjusting to her job phenomenally
getting to know her patients, noting all their symptoms, and diagnosing them in a fairly quick manner
leading her to be fairly popular in the office as many parents are bringing their children to her office
ushijima, although very efficient in analyzing his patients’ records and diagnosing his patients very quickly, struggles with communicating to them in a manner that would not scare them off
especially today, when one toddler in particular was not fond of his scary appearance
the little boy had walked into the checkup room, holding his mother’s hand
his bangs cut in a slant direction (they’re basically uneven and looks like the hypotenuse of a triangle, I suck with descriptions so I’m hoping you all know I'm talking about shirabu LOL)
when tendou walked in to take the child’s temperature and blood pressure, the child was struggling to remain calm as a towering red headed male with crazy eyes kept looking at him dead on
after taking the necessary data on the child, tendou says quite animatedly “alright shirabu, Dr. Ushijima will be with you shortly, make yourself comfortable and help yourself to some books in the bucket”
shirabu’s mother hands him a little book which leads him to flipping through the pages and pointing at the cute animals within it
once an a while having to blow his uneven bangs out his eyes
all of a sudden the door opens and when shirabu looks up, his whole face pales and tears begin gathering in his eyes
to shirabu, a giant, mean looking man stands in front of him, ready to yell at him, kill him, or anything horrible in-between
before ushijima could let a word out, shirabu begins to sob loudly on the examination table
ushijima stops walking towards shirabu, as his mom reaches out to console him
as shirabu’s mother is trying to comfort him and tell him how ushijima is here to make sure he's healthy, shirabu continues to sob louder and repeatedly scream “but he’s so scary”
ushijima freezes on the spot
usually when children are frightened of him their parents are able to calm them down
but shirabu is relentless and stubbornly continues to cry to his little toddler bum’s desire
ushijima excuses himself from the room, stating that he will be back shortly, shutting the door behind him
outside the examination room, ushijima was silently panicking
why was I cursed with such a big body
why do people always think my facial expression is scary, it’s just my resting face
I’m not mad at least 98% of the time
I just want the kids to feel safe and comfortable to tell me their problems so I can fix them as fast as possible :(
as he was having an internal conversation with himself, y/n walks by and notices the distress on his face
she begins to grow concern for the man, she’s grown to know as a giant teddy bear
yes she caught feels for him within the past few months
semi and kawanishi never let her live it down, making it their mission to fluster her on the subject at least once a day
she walks over to the conflicted giant, but not before noticing the three nurses around the corner staring at her with a smirk on each of their faces
ofc tendou is in that upside down position (y'all know which one I’m talking about)
rolling her eyes at her three spectators, she turned back to ushijima to deal with his internal crisis
“Ushijima, did you need help with something?” y/n asked as she approached him
“no, I do not understand why my latest patient is so afraid of me. I did not even get to speak a word before he started screaming. usually I at least get one word in” ushijima replies as the cries of shirabu could still be heard through the door
y/n winces at the boy’s shrill cries but is also impressed that it is able to resonate past the wooden door
“did you want me to try to talk to the patient first? hopefully, get him to ease into you” y/n offered
ushijima nodded curtly, handing y/n the patient’s information which she glances over fairly quick
y/n takes a deep breath and opens the door, which causes the cries to come at a higher volume
shirabu opens his eyes after hearing the door open, thinking the scary tall man came back to kill him only to be greeted by a smaller woman with gentle eyes
the child halts his cries, but the tears keep falling silently
y/n grabs some tissues from the counter and wipes the poor boy’s face which is red from all his sobs
she crouches down to the boy’s height and smiles gently at him
“hey little guy, I’m Dr. y/l/n. I heard you’re being a brave little boy visiting the doctor today” y/n speaks in a nurturing voice
shirabu nods shyly, still tucked away in his mother’s arms
“I promise you Dr. Ushijima is nothing you should be scared of, he’s the best doctor in the building who will help you feel better” y/n explains gently to the boy who shakes his head in his mother’s shoulder
“he’s giant and scary” shirabu speaks for the first time while fiddling with his smol bby fingers
“I'll let you in on a secret little guy” y/n whispers towards shirabu
being the curious child he is, shirabu lets go of his mother and scoots his little bum towards the edge of the examination table to listen in on the secret
“Dr. Ushijima looks scary, but he’s really gentle and soft. just think of him as a soft teddy bear because really that's all he is” y/n whispers making the little boy giggle thinking of the tall mean doctor dressed as a soft bear
“with that said, will you be okay to see Dr. Ushijima now?” y/n asks
shirabu nods with the picture of his doctor dressed as a bear freshly engraved into his mind
y/n nods and bows to shirabu’s mother before stepping out of the examination room to fetch the giant pediatrician
“he’s ready to see you now, he might actually be very excited” y/n informs ushijima
ushijima nods, takes a deep breath, and walks into the room shirabu is in
shirabu look up to the tall doctor, eyes still slightly glassy from his previous crying session
although he is still shaking in his child boots (shoes? sneakers? whatever shoes your heart desires)
he refrains from screaming out, imagining the big man as a teddy bear like he has been for the past couple minutes
“hello, I am Dr. Ushijima and I am here to help you fix your problems” the giant doctor voices out, still nervous on the inside
after half and hour of speaking to shirabu, ushijima concludes that the poor boy just jammed his fingers and just needs to tape them
“may I ask what you were doing that caused you to jam your fingers?” ushijima asks gently
the boy shakily replies “I was setting the volleyball to my friend but my timing was off”
ushijima eyes light up at the mention of volleyball as he ask incredulously, “you play volleyball?”
the child nods timidly as ushijima gets a glint in his eyes that is unfamiliar to the poor boy
“I played in high school, I was a wing spiker” ushijima replies causing the child’s eyes to also light up
“really, that’s so cool. I’ve been watching old clips from high school nationals and the wing spiker on shiratorizawa is amazing. he has so much power, I wish to set for him someday” shirabu rambles before he looks at ushijima and recognizes him from the videos he’s been watching
“WOAH YOU WERE THE ACE OF SHIRATORIZAWA FROM THE VIDEOS I WATCHED?!?” shirabu exclaims with stars shining in his eyes
ushijima chuckles and hums a positive answer causing the little boy to spitfire questions to the man such as:
how many points did you score each game?
did you ever break the floor with your serve?
has anyone ever broken a bone from your deadly spike?
shirabu’s mom began to scold shirabu for bombarding ushijima with too many questions making the poor toddler bow his head in shame and slap his chubby cheeks with his own hands as a self-punishment
ushijima seeing the poor inflict pain on himself began to panic and continuously ask the boy to stop hurting himself
“I would love to answer your questions sometime but I have a patient coming in 20 minutes but feel free to contact me through my email or phone number on the clinic website if you want to continue talking about volleyball. I see you have a great interest for it” ushijima says making shirabu look up adorned with red cheeks and starry eyes
shirabu nods eagerly asking his mom to help him use the computer when he gets home so he can talk to ushijima
“I also wouldn't mind coaching you on my off days.  I haven’t played volleyball in a long time so please toss for me sometime” ushijima says crouching down to the shirabu’s height and giving him a small smile
said boy squeals in excitement and claps his little hands together
“THANK YOU SO MUCH DR. USHIJIMA” shirabu exclaims, going in and giving ushijima a hug
shirabu’s mom could definitely be heard in the background lecturing shirabu on his manners and personal space
but ushijima doesn’t mind
in fact, he is touched that a patient feels so comfortable with him and enjoys his presence
releasing himself from shirabu’s hug he then speaks, “well then I’ll be off, I hope to hear from you soon”
shirabu hops off the examination table and bows to the tall man and exclaims, “yes, thank you for everything, doctor”
shirabu grabs his mother’s hand and leaves the room as ushijima holds the door open for them
as ushijima walks into the office room, he sees y/n typing reports on the computer
he approaches her and taps her shoulder causing the poor girl to jump in her seat
“I apologize for startling you, I just wanted to thank you for helping me calm down shirabu earlier” ushijima shows his gratitude
“it’s no big deal, I'm glad to be of use to the best pediatrician in the whole unit” y/n replies with a smile on her face
ushijima then notices his heart beat quickening and thumping louder than normal
he believes that anyone could hear its rapid beat without requiring a stethoscope

❝ LILY OF THE VALLEY ❞
inked by Sau
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
WARNING : The piece contains the theme of Hanahaki disease, coughing of flowers and vulgar terms will be seen along the story.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
It never really occurred to Tendou that life can be unreasonable sometimes. It was just like yesterday that the he and his lover shared a profound relationship with each other. Those happy days, that love that bloomed from mere friendship — he missed that.
And yet here is, wondering what happened between the two of them. As far as he knew, Tendou didn't do anything that can upset the male but why, why is is that he wouldn't talk to him?
"Is the food good, Wakatoshi-kun?" He would ask brightly, offering more of what he cook towards the fellow.
"Huh? Yes, it was okay." Was the lover's answer before he realized the difference from now. Wakatoshi usually would nod eagerly at him, complimenting his hard work and now a plain answer, he didn't even touch much of his food.
The anxiousness is killing him.
"Ah, then, " slightly fiddling with his slender fingers, Tendou perked up a topic that he was wondering for a long time, "... What should we do for our anniversary, Wakatoshi-kun?"
"...."
"Should we eat out?" The redhead suggested with a grin, looking at the other fondly, "we can perhaps go out to a restaurant? How about taking a trip outside?"
They have been together for 9 years, and they always had this most fun anniversary celebrations together. Both of them lived in together in a small house in Paris, and they would always somehow visit different places together. It wasn't much fancy but both of them enjoyed the day together as a couple. However, as to what he can see right now, there won't be any fun to celebrate soon.
"... I can't."
"....?"
"I can't celebrate it with you, Tendou. We have an important practice match along with the team on that day..." Ushijima explained with a drop of his spoon, sighing a bit from how the pointless the conversation is.
"I-I see, " it had already been the second time he used this kind of excuse, ".... That's alright! Next anniversary then—"
"Sure."
And with that final answer, Tendou was left at the dining table with both of his hands placed on top of his head. He never liked this emotion he is feeling, the suspicions that bubbled deep inside him made him think that the male was lying to his face.
Is he tired of him?
Did he do something wrong?
Was he just overthinking?
These words that echoed along his heart made him feel as if something pricking his heart. It hurts, and with a hand over his chest — he smiled through the pain.
'I am okay as long as I have you.'
Their anniversary passed as if it was nothing, just a normal day for two men. Tendou actually prepared Ushijima's favorite food that day and only to realize that he wouldn't come home that day. His heart sank, and the seed implanted in his heart started growing.
"You have been sighing for the fifth time today, Tendou." Taichi, a friend whom he have since high school, commented. They are co-workers in a restaurant both of them worked on and Taichi was a bartender meanwhile he's a chocolatier.
"I am?" He asked with a nervous chuckle, "I didn't notice." The redhead replied before waving both of his arms in front of him, "It's nothing! It's nothing, Taichi!"
"Really? You look tired."
"Well, it's just that my heart has been feeling quite heavy lately~"
"Your heart? Don't you need it to be checked up?"
"I don't think it's that bad, " Tendou replied with a grin, focusing on his work as he began mixing the hot chocolate on a bowl he was holding on to, "Ora, it is quite a fancy celebration for the couple who ordered this chocolate cake! " he started, trying to change the topic.
"Well, it was their anniversary— Tendou?"
Cough. Cough.
Followed by the cough was the soft thud of the spatula that fell from the chocolatier's hand, there dropped a white flower from the male's crooked lips. There petal of the famous scented flower, Lily of the Valley, fell on top of the chocolate he was making.
Another one. And another one.
Tendou continued coughing up the flower until he fell to his knees, blood came after and he can feel the itching feeling of the stuck sprout in his throat, he wanted to cough more.
"Tendou!"
"Taichi..."
"Hanahaki disease?"
"Yes, Hanahaki." The doctor replied with a sigh, prescribing medicine for the pain and wounds on his throat, "it's a disease that results from unrequited love, your heart is in deep pain right now due to the flowers that grew on your lungs."
"Is there some other way doctor to heal from the disease?" Taichi asked for the sake of his friend. Sometimes, Tendou is thankful that he have such a kind friend as the male.
"There are two ways, it's either be loved back or undergo surgery. However, the surgery can cause you your ability to feel."
"My feelings?" Tendou asked gloomily, looking at the beautiful scented flower on his hand. He can't, he can't loose something as beautiful as his love for Ushjima. The flowers in his lungs? It just shows how much he love him.
"Yes, you're fee—"
"He's going to love me back." Tendou said abruptly, positive of the solution he had for himself, "he's.. He loves me already, that's why I should just feel it..." He mumbled unsurely, clasping the flower in his palm.
"Then if you're positive, " he chuckled, "I hope you the best."
Walking home that day was sure of a burden for Tendou, every step along the way made his insides squirm in turmoil. His disquietude made him reckon more of the issue he was handling
Will he really love him back?
Will he really stay?
Will he heal him?
He was positive of himself a moment ago but now that he thought of all the things they have experienced, he's not so certain anymore.
He's scared.
"Wakatoshi-kun...?"
And he was right, because as soon he arrived in their home, a letter caught his attention. It was neatly placed on top of their tea table and a ring settled beside it. Tendou knew what is inside the letter already.
Cough. Cough.
Along with the streaming of his tears that day was the constant flow of flowers and blood from his mouth, and yet despite all that, he continued reading the letter of the one who abandoned him.
"I decided to follow Oikawa, I love him. I'm sorry."
These words that gave him the most tears made him squeeze the flowers that fell from his mouth and the cold ring that was left hours ago. It hurts.
"Why... It hurts..."
He cried a lot that night, but you can't say that it would be his last nor does he have any plans of taking off the flowers that grew from his lungs. The Lily of the Valley is a proof how beautiful an fragrant his love is to the point that he risked his all for him.
He won't take off this flower even if it would be death of him.
Until he comes back.
"Ushijima-san?"
Looking back at the hazel haired male behind him, Ushijima's eyes widened in slight shock.
"Taichi? What are you doing here?"
"I live here."
Taichi who was holding groceries gave the superior a raise of his eyebrow, he couldn't forgive this man who have left his lover behind with a sickness that only he can heal — utterly disgusting for him to come back like this.
"O-oh, you're Tendou's new lover?"
"No however we live together." Taichi uttered with a shake of his head, he didn't really expect for the male to appear in front of Tendou's house after all that years of pain that he brought him but he must keep his promise.
"Financial problems?"
"No, " Taichi sighed, "he has a sickness and I have to take care of him."
Ushijima's olive hues widened at the male's words, "Is it serious? Can I see him?"
"Of course. Follow me inside."
To Ushijima's point of view, nothing much changed over the years of his departure. The reason he actually came back was because Tooru and him decided to get married after how many years of being together — something that he didn't bring up with Tendou. However, it doesn't seem that there are traces of Tendou around the house.
"Where is he...?" They already walked pass through the entire house and yet it seems they are going to the garden, "Taichi, where's Tendou."
"He's here." With a grab of the binds of white cloth that distinguish the other flowers from a certain area in the garden, Ushijima's eyes widened at the sight of white scented flowers that grew on the rest of the backyard.
The beautiful white petals of the plant glistened along with the sunlight and there, Ushijima felt the overwhelming nostalgia from the garden of flowers in front of him.
"Where's..."
"You are looking at him"
end.

Wid: Oh god, they texted you ‘hi.’’ punctuation only means one thing, Pauline. They're mad at you. Pauline: No, it's Shiyu. They're just being gramatically correct! *meanwhile* Shiyu: And then I used a period so they'd know that I'm mad at them. Lili: A period doesn't say 'I'm mad', it says 'you're dead to me'. Shiyu: I stand by my choice.
------------------
Wid: What do we think of Shiyu? *pause* Lili: *sighs* Nice pal. Pauline: I think they're gay.
=------------
Wid: Where is Shiyu? Pauline: I'll do you one better, who is Shiyu?? Lili: Here's a better question, why is Shiyu?
(i dont know man. ive been trying to figure it out for the last few years)
--------------
Wid: On the count of three, what’s your favorite cake? Wid & Lili: One, two, three- Wid & Lili: Chocolate cake, peanutbutter frosting, and chocolate chunks! Shiyu: Our turn, Pauline! One, two, three- Shiyu: Vanilla! Pauline: I’ve never had cake before. What is cake?

(cant deny the truth bby)
---------------
Wid, Pauline & Shiyu: *screaming* Lili: *runs into the room* What's wrong, Shiyu?! Wid: Wait, why are you asking Shiyu that when Pauline and I are also here? Lili: Because Shiyu wouldn't scream unless it's an emergency. You two scream whenever you have the chance.
(i mean... its true )
-----------------
Pauline: What’s wrong? You look 10 seconds away from ripping someone’s throat out. Wid: Fucking Shiyu and Lili were trying to invoke one of the minor gods again last night. I didn't get an ounce of sleep, thanks to their bloody chanting.
(manifests dvalin cause i wanna ride on their back and fall off)
-------------------
Lili: Wake me up- Wid: Before you go go Shiyu: When September ends Pauline: WAKE ME UP INSIDE
(cant wake up- WAKE ME UP INSIDE)
--------------------
Shiyu, watching Pauline & Lili panic : What's going on? Wid: Pauline is having a midlife crisis and Lili is just having a crisis.
--------------
Lili: *Gasp* Pauline: wHAT?? Lili: What if soy milk is just milk introducing itself in Spanish? Pauline: *inhales* Wid, in another room with Shiyu: Why can I hear screeching?
(shiyu: same shit different day)
----------------------------
Shiyu: Christmas is cancelled. Wid: You can't cancel a holiday. Shiyu: Keep it up, Wid, and you'll lose New Year's too. Wid: What does that mean? Shiyu: Lili, take New Year's away from Wid.
--------------------
Pauline: So, are they your friend or... Lili: They’re like Wid, but if Wid was ordered to be around you. Pauline: Oh, so Shiyu. Lili: Precisely!
(if its about how annoyed i always look then you ahve a point)
----------------
Wid: You’re just being paranoid. Again. Pauline: When have I been paranoid? Wid: Um, when you first met Lili you thought they were an undercover cop…? Pauline: No one has a wart that big, I thought it was a surveillance camera! Wid: And last year you were sure Shiyu was a mermaid! Pauline: They hate wearing shirts! COINCIDENCE?! *Later, when Pauline’s theory is proven wrong* Wid: Do you have anything to say for yourself? Pauline: I still think Shiyu is a mermaid.
(id gladly be one)
--------------------
*Wid drunkenly wanders around the manor and Lili is drunkenly giggling* Shiyu, completely sober: *sighs* Well, looks like it's just me and you against the wold, Pauline. Pauline, going to their room: Nope, just you. *shuts door*
----------------
Wid: We need to distract these guys. Lili: Leave it to me. Lili: Centaurs have six limbs and are therefore insects. Discuss. Pauline & Shiyu: *immediately begin arguing*
(*pulls out dictionary*)
------------------
Police: You’re under arrest for trying to carry three people on a single motorcycle. Shiyu, with Wid and Lili behind them: Wait, what do you mean THREE?! Police: Yes…three. Shiyu: Oh, my God— What the fuck!? Police: Wha- Shiyu: Pauline FUCKING FELL OFF!
----------------------
Wid: What is love? Pauline: An emotional minefield. Shiyu: A neurochemical reaction. Lili: Baby don't hurt me.
(BECAUSE FUCK EMOTIONS)
--------------------
Pauline: I currently have 7 empty notebooks and I have no idea what to put in them. Any suggestions? Wid: Put spaghetti in it. Pauline: I am currently taking suggestions from everyone but you. Lili: Put spaghetti in it. Pauline: I am currently taking suggestions from everyone but you two. Shiyu: Put spaghetti in it. Pauline: I am no longer taking suggestions.
------------------
Shiyu, pointing to the wall: What color is this? Pauline: Gray. Lili: Grey. Shiyu, turning to Wid: Now tell them what color you think it is. Wid: Dark white.

asks :)
once again, i’m terrible at answering things :)
First off, your newest Kuroo story WRECKED ME. OMMMMMG LIKE IT'S SOOO FUCKING GOOD. You are one of the most incredible writers ever, like professional style writing. These should be books and you should get paid for it, honestly. Your skill is totally unmatched, my friend. I just adore everything you write. I had two questions thou about the story, just because I am totally obsessed by it- so has Kuroo been obsessed with her since he saw her, I'm like curious how his obsession started
like is it because she's young and he's interested? Cuz I totally got the vibes at the party that he was showing her off like she was his girlfriend and he seems like he has been wanting her for awhile. I was just curious about how it started cuz god I'm a simp for yandere kuroo- boss man Kuroo would make me weakkkkk. My second question is so is he like obsessively in love with her or is it like just a this hot piece of ass is mine to fuck kinda thing? Like does he want a relationship?
anyways, I love you and I love your writing. Everything you write is legit perfection! Thank you for all your beautiful stories you share with us! - Kai
first of all, whomst gave you the right to be so damn sweet???!?! dsgsjkl thank you, bby!
so, like with all my fics i kind of have a ‘read into it how you want’ thing going for it. whether or not kuroo actually has ‘romantic’ (i use that word loosely) feelings for the reader or whether he just enjoys fucking her because he’s in a position of power and she’s easily manipulated is left a little up to your interpretation and how you’d prefer to imagine it. however, having said that there are little hints throughout the fic that imply that there’s a little more depth to kuroo’s feelings. you’re not wrong with the whole ‘showing her off’ vibe at the party, and there’s mentions of confessions that kuroo gives while he’s fucking the reader - also the title of the fic, invidia, means envy in latin. so take that how you will 🤷‍♀️
and as far as how it all began, i like to think that it was kind of a slow build. again it’s implied that kuroo has met the reader (however briefly) a few times before - at games as nekoma’s manager, when she initially was introduced as his girlfriend and she has stayed over at their place in the past. it wasn’t so much a singular moment, but kuroo’s definitely been paying more attention to her than she realises.
WHAT WHAT WHAT???? RHI UHMMM WAS KUROO IN LOVE WITH THE READER???? 👀👀👀👀 HOLY SHIT. I'm honestly mind blown rn like I have a lot of questions like did Shin know? Was he also into it? Omg the idea of Father and Son sharing reader...
(also I def did not hope that Bokuto was also there cuz that would have be fun....oppsss)🙊
hehehe
no, shin didn’t know but oh can you imagine the betrayal if he did? if he willingly set up the reader to be fucked by his dad 👀god damn
adsfgdhjfkfl there was a moment i genuinely considered having something more happen at the christmas party where bo would stumble across and one thing would lead to another.... but i decided not to go that route. this one needed to be solo kuroo haha
Rhi, what can I say, amazing as always!
ahhh thank you sm, bby!
Hi i absolutely love the kuroo fic at first no one would actually notice he was into and then story actually rises nicely however i would like to ask like what happens later im sorry im a little burnt out from my mountains of assignments that i cant think of a possible aftermath since the story had an open ending but yeah what happens later after the whole scene does y/n stay there for the 7 days and get r*ped again or she goes home early and like what happens to kuroo and shinsuke im sorry for annoying you with questions its fully up to you whether u would like to answer or not :-)
aw, thank you! I hope your assignments and stuff are all done? And pls bby, you’re not annoying me at all 💕💕💕
Honestly again, it’s kind of left up to what you like to think would happen, but personally I think that the reader stays, because there’s no easy way to get out of that situation without raising suspicion - which means that she then has to spend the next week trying unwittingly playing cat and mouse with Kuroo who’s gonna use every damn opportunity he has to push your boundaries 👀
Duuuuude invidia fucked me up! Like fuck, lol! The build up was so spectacular! It makes me wonder two things: how did kuroo’s obsession start, and what would shin have done if he caught them (and why do I feel like he’d join in... I guess it runs in the family lol).
I loved it sooooo much and im also so creeped out lol. Can’t trust other people’s dads. Everything about it was perfect!
glad you liked it, bby!!
shin’s a good boy and he genuinely loves the reader, but i think if he did stumble across the two of them he’d just shut down and walk away. it’d be the biggest betrayal in his eyes - it wouldn’t matter if you were drunk or he was, who came onto who - the two most important people in his life going behind his back would just break him :( and i think he probably wouldn’t give either of them a chance to explain
but if we’re talking degenerate shin... 👀👉👈
imagine if invidia! reader gets pregnant and Shin thinks it’s his, but its actually his dad’s 🤭
oooh kuroo would be such a smug little shit - he’d get extra touchy feely with the reader, drop ‘casual’ hints, basically doing everything outside of straight up admitting it to him, just to see how far he can push until shin starts to doubt whether he’s actually the father - when it’s just the two of you though... i think he’d be a little softer - but equally as possessive - you’re his, and so’s the kid growing inside of you
Kuroo: son do you know what a cuck is? Shinnosuke: no? Kuroo: wOULD YOU LIKE TO FIND OUT - @south-korea-cakes
dagshjskl i snorted when i read this but you’re not wrong lmao
hi rhi! i have a question about Lion’s Den! did oikawa purposely set the reader up to witness his true nature? or was it chance that she saw him kill?
no - i think he’d rather have kept you in the dark a little longer and tried to let things develop ‘organically’ but he’s not upset that you did find out the truth - gives him an excuse to move things along and take what he wants 👀
hey rhi:) soo my boyfriend of two years just broke up with me and so far a major comfort has just been rereading your stories. something about feeling desired, ya know? anyway, thanks for making me feel a little better <3 - @theofficialhufflepuff
aw i’m sorry to hear that :( i’m glad my fics can help make you feel a lil better - sending love bby! 💕
omg i adore everything in the soulmate series hello !! would any of the soulmate pairings ever end up feeling lowkey competitive w/ the other?? like all of them seem to mutually respect the other but would there ever come a point where smth pushes them into trying to outdo ur other soulmate when it comes to ur affection?
also have i mentioned how much i love ur writing bc i love ur writing
hmmm, not so much with oikawa & iwa or ushijima and tendou because i think they have pretty rock solid relationships with each other prior to the reader coming along - if they did it would only be minor stuff
the twins on the other hand - good fucking luck with them because they’ll turn everything into a competition. the moment one twin thinks you’re favouring the other too much expect to get dragged across the room and forced to spend ‘quality time’ with the other. it’s all very petty and exhausting and there is no possible chance for you to win. but thank you sweetheart!!
tonight im thinking about The Final Girl! boys forcing you to share a bed with them for the first time. With Kuroo’s face buried in the crook of your neck, one big hand palming your breast for good measure, Bo holding onto your waist, and Kaashi’s legs tangled with yours. its suffocating, really😪😓
asdgdhjdkdl suffocating? yes. now where do i sign up?? 🥺
you are so talented in writing it's crazy!! just the way you articulate things is ugh *chef's kiss*. i hope you are doing well and not receiving hate 🥺 ily pls
ahhh thank you so much, messages like these always make me so happy! ily bby! 💕
more karasuno first years soon? 👀
who’s to say?? i don’t have any full fics planned but maybe some concepts and thirsts??
if you make a yandere msby fic i’ll literally lose it i love your writing
👀i am considering it

Chapter Seven
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹
TENDOU'S P.O.V.
"Just spit it out already," Shirabu yells out as he grows impatient.
"Calm down I'm getting to it!" I snap back at him, "The girl told me that the cop asked her about me and my 'friends'."
"Goddammit. Why does that asshole keep chasing after us?" Semi groans as he places his hand on his forehead.
"G-Guys what are we going to do about him?!" Goshiki begins to freak out.
"Shut up stupid, that's what we're going to talk about," Semi continues.
I look around and notice the three others staring at me seriously as they wait for me to continue speaking.
"Oh right," I add, "Y/N said that she didn't say anything to him about us."
Another audible groan comes from Semi at the mention of Y/N's name.
"Look I trust Y/N to keep her promise. She's got a stake in this too now, you know," I remind them.
"I do not trust her," Ushijima finally chimes in, "I think we should have taken her out before."
I stand up and watch as the others don't agree nor disagree with Ushijima. It's difficult for me to understand how they don't get what I'm saying.
"What's wrong with you guys? Y/N hasn't even done anything wrong!"
"Yet," Ushijima adds.
"I've got to agree with him," Reon finally adds.
I scan the group once more, trying to figure out what is wrong with all of my friends.
"T-Tendou what's the big deal with Y/N anyway? Why do you care about her so much?" Goshiki quietly asks.
Although you know the answer, you take a moment to ponder its relevance and how you could convince the others that Y/N is trustworthy.
"I just took a liking to her, that's all," I shrug as I sit back down, "because I can tell she knows how to keep her mouth shut."
"Because she told you that she would," Ushijima once again adds to defeat my statement.
"And just because she told you that doesn't mean she won't stab you in the back the second that you turn around," Shirabu continues.
"We need to do something about her."
I watch in awe at my extremely idiotic friends as they all agree. The group sits in silence for a while as they each try to figure out what they should do.
"Guys," I begin in an unusually quiet voice, "I don't want to hurt Y/N. I... I don't think that I can."
As the weight of those words resonates in my brain, a wave of frustration smacks me in the face. I lean forward in my chair and cover my face with my hands, trying to calm myself down.
"I don't even want the damn tv back anyway," I mutter to myself.
However, Goshiki hears my quiet thoughts and chimes in.
"I-I'll take a new tv," he states insensitively.
Without much thought, I whack the little jerk on the back of the head. When I then talk to him, I keep my face buried in my hands.
"Just because you've got super cool hair doesn't mean you can act all tough, stupid," I groan.
"You used to have bangs too," Goshiki whimpers as he rubs the back of his head where I hit him, "you're just mean."
"Shut up I'm not mean!" I bark back as I sit up straight again.
Before Goshiki has time to think up a response, Ushijima clears his throat. Everybody in the room then turns their attention to him.
"Tendou..." he says deeply in a way that sends chills down my spine.
"What!?"
I look around and now see that everybody is staring at me. They're all waiting for me to come up with a plan for Y/N and even though I don't have one, I've got to figure out something quick before I completely lose grip on this situation.
"I'll figure it out," I grumble to my friends, "you all worry so damn much."
"We worry because Y/N is a liability, Tendou!" Reon states, "If we don't do anything about her, she could lead that cop straight to us and you know that!"
Although I know Reon is right, I don't want to hear it.
There has to be a way for me to take care of  Y/N without hurting her. There's no way I could bring myself to doing it. And I'd rather die than let these assholes hurt her, too. I've got to think of something... Something where Y/N won't be bothered by that detective...
"Tendou..." Semi calls out angrily to me, taking me out of my thoughts, "Did you hear what I just said?"
"No," I mutter, "I was trying to figure out an answer to your stupid question."
Semi groans and mutters something under his breath before continuing what he was saying.
"I said that you have until the morning to figure something out otherwise we're going to get rid of her."
"Alright, alright," I roll my eyes as I stand up, "calm down there SemiSemi-"
"Don't call me that ridiculous-"
"There's no need for that. You aren't going to need to get rid of her," I assure my friends as I walk across the room.
"Whatever you do," Shirabu warns, "you're the one responsible for her."
I see Reon and Semi nod in agreement as I head towards the door.
"That's fine with me," I wave as I leave Semi's house.
I begin walking down the street as I think of the best thing to do with Y/N.
I can't just kill the detective. That'll just make everything worse for all of us, even Y/N.
As I continue walking, I notice a couple holding hands as they walk up to their front door. I stop as I watch one of them take out their keys and open the door. As they go inside, an idea strikes me.
However there is one downfall, that detective will assume Y/N's an accomplice.

Three - Never Grow Up
I return from the dead after 2 months with a lousy chapter in tow, bc I lost my original idea sigh
The buzzing from his phone is getting annoying, and he contemplates turning the vibrate off so he can study in peace. He twists to regard the device on his bed, the screen lighting up with yet another incoming message.
He sighs and picks up the phone.
[Kenjirou]: This was a bad idea
[Kenjirou]: Why did I let Futakuchi talk me into this
[Kenjirou]: Right cos im stupid
[Kenjirou]: Taichi save me
[Kenjirou]: We’re in the house
[Kenjirou]: This guy must be hella rich
[Kenjirou]: Holy shit this is Akaashi’s house
[Kenjirou]: I thought Akaashi was supposed to be all goody two shoes
[Kenjirou]: apparently mot
[Kenjirou]: thk god kuroo isnt here
[Kenjirou]: ohmygod its oikawa-san
[Kenjirou]: and his ace whatshisname
[Kenjirou]: iwa-chan? Tht doesn’t sound liek a name
[Kenjirou]: Right its iwaizumi
[Kenjirou]: hes hot save me
[Kenjirou]: taichiiii answr me
Kawanishi sighs and types a reply.
[Taichi]: r u drunk
[Kenjirou]: YOU FINALLY REPLIED
[Taichi]: answer the question
[Kenjirou]: oooooh proper spellinh, scarryyyy
[Taichi]: Kenjirou.
[Kenjirou]: maybe idk
[Kenjirou]: but iwaizumisan is jow
[Kenjirou]: hot
[Kenjirou]: im gonna talk to hik
[Taichi]: be safe
Kawanishi tosses his phone onto his pillow and picks up his textbook. Shirabu’s drunk self can’t do too much damage, he reckons. He can always check back after he finishes this chapter.
[Kenjirou]: taichi stop me
[Kenjirou]: hes so cute hwlp
[Kenjirou]: ah no he left
[Kenjirou]: I shld go chase him
[Kenjirou]: ohno the other seijou boys r hwre
[Kenjirou]: the pink one is hogging him
[Kenjirou]: I need to get him back
[Kenjirou]: oh good pinky left
[Kenjirou]: no oikawa-sam in aight
[Kenjirou]: ure nog here so I’m gonna do bad things
[Kenjirou]: HE SAID HELL WALK ME BACK
[Kenjirou]: SCORE
[Kenjirou]: wait till semi-san heres
[Kenjirou]: HE PATTED MW ON THE BACK WHAT DOES THAT MEAN
[Kenjirou]: AAAHHHHH
[Kenjirou]: semi-sans in my bed
[Kenjirou]: oh kenmaz in his
[Kenjirou]: eh whatever
[Kenjirou]: hes cute ill pretend hes iwaizumi-san
[Kenjirou]: nigghtttt
Kawanishi blinks at his screen and rereads the messages, squinting at the font as if it will change the contents of the messages. It doesn’t, so he groans and throws his phone back on the bed.
Goddamnit, Kenjirou.
x.x.x.x.x
“Kenjirou.”
No response.
“Kenjirou.”
“Mmphrgh.”
“Get up and drink some water.”
“No.”
“Get up, you sick pig.”
“No. Lemme sleep.”
“Do you want me to get Semi-san?”
The covers are pulled down a little, exposing an eye lined with deep bags. “You wouldn’t.”
“I’ll get Tendou-san too.”
“Goddamnit, Taichi.”
“Thank me later.”
He sighs and closes his textbook, looking at the time.
Oh. He studied through the night. That hasn’t happened in a while.
He groans as he stretches out his legs, reaching for his phone. No new messages, but he opens the application anyway, composing a new one and sending it off.
He may not be able to keep his best friend out of trouble, but he knows who can.

[Taichi]: panadol n h2o
[Semi]: What
[Taichi]: kenjirou
[Semi]: Sigh. Thanks Taichi
[Taichi]: punch him 4 me
[Semi]: Kay
Semi tucks his phone into his back pocket, picking the finished bentos up and heading back to his room. Once inside, he digs in his bag for his small medicine stash, cutting off two tabs of panadol to place on Shirabu’s side table.
The sky is getting brighter, but he decides to leave his roommate be until he refills their water bottles.
In hindsight, that was a bad idea.
“Shirabu.”
“G’way.” The brunet mumbles incoherently and tugs the blanket over his head. A few pokes to his back earns him nothing but some wiggling, so he sighs and sits beside him.
[Semi]: How well does he hold his liquor
[Taichi]: lightweight
[Semi]: K bad question. How much did he drink
[Taichi]: enuf to b angry if u wake him
[Semi]: gdi
Semi sighs and grips the edge of the blanket. “Shirabu, you have two seconds before I rip this off.”
No response.
He tears the blanket off, taking it to the other bed to fold, ignoring the indignant whine behind him.
“Lemme sleep– Oww.”
“Drink the water and take the panadol. You’re getting to class today, whether you like it or not.”
“I hate you.”
“You’re welcome, because that’s a lab you have in an hour.”
He hears a panicked curse followed by a pained groan, and shakes his head at the sound of pattering footsteps and muffled banging disappearing down the hallway. Setting the folded blanket on the correct bed, he turns to Shirabu’s closet and starts pulling out a lab-appropriate outfit, then packs his bag and places it next to his shoes.
[Semi]: He didnt seem very angry
[Taichi]: hes late 4 class
[Taichi]: d anger will b bck
[Semi]: Thanks for the heads up?
[Taichi]: ur welcome
[Taichi]: ull need it
He’s about to head out when an angry maelstrom crashes past him, diving about the room in a flurry before setting upon the things already laid out for him. Semi would love to stay and watch – Shirabu gets stuck in his T-shirt for a solid minute, how is that even possible – but he knows better than to take Kawanishi's advice lightly, so he clicks the door shut behind him just as an infuriated yell is birthed.
He sneaks off with a snicker, messaging Futakuchi to beware the monster in class.
He gets an extremely garbled reply, and sighs heavily.
Reckless teenagers.

“Taichi.”
It’s a hiss, a panicked call, and he peers blearily out of his blanket nest to raise an eyebrow.
“Come help me pick an outfit.”
“Why.” He thinks he mumbles it – he isn’t sure, there are just too many blankets – but Shirabu whines and drops onto the bed anyway.
“Semi-san asked me to help distract Ushijima-san while they’re out.”
“And what’re you going to do? Dress like a stripper?”
He doesn’t even mind the smack to his leg – the blankets absorb the impact – but he does mind his roommate lying across his stomach, because he can’t breathe.
“Kenjirou– Get off–”
“I need help,” Shirabu whines. “They’ll be going into town, and I need to keep Ushijima-san occupied while Semi-san and Tendou-san find him a gift.”
“And– This is– Important– Why?” He wheezes, trying to dislodge the dead weight, but Shirabu is surprisingly heavy.
“Because what if I don’t know what to say? What am I supposed to talk about? We’re going to be by ourselves, this is the opportunity of a lifetime–”
“You– See– Him– At– Practice– Everyday.”
“I don’t need to hold a conversation during practice!”
Kawanishi finally succeeds in shoving Shirabu off his diaphragm, and wheezes for a minute. When he finally regains his breath, his roommate is seated on his legs, bemoaning his predicament.
He sits up and pulls his legs back, dislodging Shirabu and sending him sprawling, but he can’t care less. “Just wear whatever. It doesn’t matter.”
“You’re so unhelpful.”
“Ushijima-san doesn’t care about appearances,” he tells him. “But think about it this way – anything you wear would definitely be better than what Semi-san is wearing.”
“Not if Tendou-san is picking it.”
“Well, true, but how often does that happen?”
He’s met with silence, and hides his small smile in the blankets.
“Okay, fine, I’ll just wear jeans and whatever.”
“As long as you’re wearing clothes,” Kawanishi drawls, promptly flopping back and hiding himself in the blankets.
“I’m not an exhibitionist or a nudist, of course I’ll wear clothes.”
Kawanishi doesn’t bother to reply him.

“Shirabu-kun.”
He turns around slowly – after too many near-vomiting experiences that day, he has resigned himself to the vertigo – looking up into a pair of familiar green eyes. “Iwaizumi-san.”
Iwaizumi looks kind of awkward, but he holds out a familiar-looking jacket – his, he realises belatedly.
“Thanks for your jacket last night. It was a nice gesture,” he says, a crooked smile lifting a corner of his mouth. Shirabu takes the jacket from him – no wonder he couldn’t find it – and returns his smile sheepishly.
“No problem. Sorry for the trouble yesterday,” he mumbles.
“It was no trouble at all. I’d be more worried if you didn’t get back safely.”
“You didn’t have to,” he mutters. “But thank you. I don’t remember anything about last night.”
Iwaizumi frowns. “Nothing at all?”
“I remember seeing the other Seijou boys in your year, but that’s about it. Everything after that is gone.” He tries not to blush – he is above blushing like a schoolgirl, damnit – but allows an embarrassed grin to show his sincerity.
The other chuckles. “You don’t remember giving me your jacket, then?”
“No.”
“You were very nice about it,” Iwaizumi tells him. “You said you couldn’t let me go back out into the cold without anything on and shoved it at me until I took it.”
Shirabu is stunned for a moment, before he chokes out, “I’m sorry I’m such a pushy drunk. That doesn’t sound nice.”
“You are very stubborn, but it was a nice gesture.” He starts to turn away, then whips back around, brow furrowed. “Wait. If you don’t remember anything, then why would you apologise for causing me trouble?”
“I, uh,” he fidgets uncomfortably, before softly admitting, “I’m always trouble when I’m drunk.”
Iwaizumi laughs loudly, and he’s stunned – he has such a beautiful laugh, but he’s also so embarrassed.
The older grins widely and claps him on the back, almost making him stumble. “Don’t worry about it. You weren’t that much trouble.”
“Really?” Shirabu’s sceptical – despite denying it, he does know a little of what transpired. His gushing messages to Kawanishi are proof enough of that.
“Well,” Iwaizumi pauses, “There is one thing I’d like to ask about.”
Oh no. Please don’t let it be–
“Shirabu-kun,” their eyes meet, bright green and nervous hazel, “You kept mentioning how ‘hot’ I was?”
Please kill me.
It takes him a few seconds to get his voice working again, but he manages to choke out, “I wasn’t lying.”
Iwaizumi’s expression softens a little, and he cracks a small smile. “I don’t think you were.”
“I’m sorry,” he bursts out. “Don’t tell anyone else, please.”
Iwaizumi looks confused. “Tell anyone what?”
“That I’m, you know,” he waves a hand, “Not straight.”
Some of the confusion clears from the older’s face, but he still sounds puzzled when he asks, “Why would I tell anyone that?”
“What?”
(He’s so confused.)
“It’s not my place to tell anyone else what your preferences are,” Iwaizumi says firmly, and he looks so serious, Shirabu actually believes him. “I wouldn’t want anyone doing that to me, and I wouldn’t do it to anyone else either.”
“I– Thank you.” He hesitates just a moment, before asking softly, “Can I ask? What your preferences are?”
Iwaizumi smiles a little. “I’m demisexual. You?”
“Pansexual.” It feels like a weight has been lifted when he says it out loud, and he lets out a small sigh.
He hears a laugh, looks up to see Iwaizumi grinning at him. “Never told anyone before?”
“…no,” he admits. “There wasn’t a need to.”
“Don’t I know how that feels,” Iwaizumi sighs.
There’s a beat of silence between them, before Iwaizumi says, “Well, I ought to be getting back. Thanks again.”
He can feel the opportunity slipping from between his fingers, breath catching in his throat as the words lodge themselves in the tight space, refusing to come out.
Last chance, the wind whispers as it brushes by.
His hand clenches around the jacket, turning fully to face his retreating back. “Iwaizumi-san!”
He turns, confusion playing out across his features, and he takes a deep breath, exhaling forcefully.
“I know you told me your preferences, but would you like to go out to dinner with me sometime? Tonight, if you’re free?”
The taller boy’s expression clears, replaced by a sort of wry smile. “I’ll agree on one condition.”
“What is it?”
“We’re going as friends. Don’t expect more.”
He bows sharply, hiding his smile in his collar.
“Of course.”

[Shirabu]: Won’t be back for dinner
[Semi]: again?
[Shirabu]: You’re not my mom
[Semi]: I pick up after yo u enough to be
[Shirabu]: whatever
[Shirabu]: I’ll be eating dinner on my own, relax
[Semi]: well, im glad you know what I’m worrying abt

[Shirabu]: no
[Semi]: yes
[Shirabu]: No.

[Semi]: I was stunned, sue me
[Shirabu]: I’m not that ungrateful
[Semi]: o rlly
[Shirabu]: guess I’ll put the tekka maki back
[Semi]: WAIT
Shirabu snickers as he pockets his phone without replying, putting the packet of fish into the basket and nudging the person beside him. “Come on, let’s go.”
Kenma barely looks up from his game, but he does ask, “Do you have the apple pie?”
Shirabu rolls his eyes. “No. I’m going to make you apple pie instead of letting you eat the store-bought one.”
“Really?” It’s the most hopeful Shirabu has ever heard him, and he smothers a laugh.
“Yes, of course. You should learn how to make it too.”
“Lazy,” Kenma mumbles, trudging along behind him. “Kuro’ll get me some any time.”
“You treat him like a servant.”
“Like you’re one to talk.”
“Huh?”
“Eita spends half his time picking up after you.”
“I don’t ask him to.”
“But he still does, and you don’t thank him. At least I thank Kuro.”
Shirabu opens his mouth to refute, but finds his words gone, any eloquence dried up like an old well. He can practically feel the smugness radiating off his friend, and stews quietly – what else can he do?
They’re almost at the checkout when he thinks to say, “I do things for him sometimes too.”
Kenma doesn’t reply for a long while – he thinks he must have reached the boss stage – but when he does, it’s with a sigh and the blackened screen of his game. “Not as much as he does for you.”
Shirabu’s almost too stunned that he turned off his game to answer. “He doesn’t have to. He’s trying to be my mom,” he grumbles.
“He cares about you.”
“He cares about everyone.”
“Fair point.”
Shirabu props the basket onto the self-checkout counter, scanning in silence. Kenma helps to bag the items, remaining mercifully quiet until they exit the store.
“You know, there was a point in time where Kuroo told me he liked me.”
“Oh?” He is confused; what does this have to do with their earlier conversation?
“Yeah,” Kenma muses. “But now he has Koutarou, so I don’t have to worry about feelings I can’t return.”
“I see.”
(Really, what is he supposed to say to all this?)
“You don’t understand what I’m trying to hint at,” Kenma comments.
Shirabu feels relieved and slightly annoyed. “What gave it away?”
“Your face, maybe.”
“Maybe?”
“Maybe.” Kenma smiles, but it drops quickly, sighing. “Maybe Eita’s so caring because he likes you.”
He snorts. “As if Semi-san would ever like me.”
“Why not?”
“We just don’t like each other.” His tone is hard, trying to signal the end of the conversation, and he’s glad when Kenma doesn’t press further.
He doesn’t want to revisit those memories. After all, they’ve been locked away for a reason.
x.x.x.x.x
“You sure you'll be okay?”
“For goodness sake, yes. I’m moving to the city, not to another country.”
“Just checking. I–”
“Worry. I know.” His voice has softened, and he drops his bag, tilting his head back to regard him. “I’ll be fine. Really.”
His friend pulls him into a smothering hug, enveloping him fully in his embrace, counting, counting, keeping time until he has to let go.
“Be safe.” A whisper as he steps back, full of panic and worry and desperate, desperate wishes.
“I’ll do what I can.” It’s not a promise – he can’t promise this, definitely not – but it’s the sincerity of the sentiment that pacifies him, because now, it might take him a bit longer to do something stupid.
“Call me when you get there.”
“I’ll text you,” he offers. “You’re getting overbearing like this.”
He opens his mouth only to bite back the I worry that threatens to fall out, swapping it for an Okay instead.
This time it’s Shirabu who steps forward for a hug, whispering his goodbyes, shouting them in the strength of his embrace, lightly reassuring him in the soft touch on his hair.
And then he’s on the train, and the afternoon sun blinds him as he watches the train disappear.

[Eita]: Tell me sth I dont know

[Eita]: See you
Semi places his phone at the edge of the table, lacing his hands behind his head. A slow grin spreads over his face as the reality of the situation settles on him.
No Shirabu, Kenma or Futakuchi tonight. Wow.
I can finally study in peace, hell yes.
He gets up to pluck a textbook from his bag, setting a timer on his phone before putting it in the dresser.
If he's to study, there can be no distractions. But he’ll have to get up and make dinner eventually, and he refuses to forget to eat just because he’s actually studying for once.
He flips open to where he left off, re-reading the familiar concept, sinking into the rhythm of absorbing information.
x.x.x.x.x
It’s 11pm when he stops, and as he gets up to brush his teeth, his eyes land on the empty bed next to him.
It’s a little worrying, but he reminds himself that Shirabu is old enough to take care of himself, pushing the thought out of mind as he leaves the room.
He writes a note and pins it to their corkboard, casting a last glance at the vacant bed before he turns out the lights.
(The emptiness rings in his head, a despondent purr throbbing in his mind. It prods at the gaping maw of his heart, reminding, reminding, of better times, noisier times, a time where there was laughter and table lamps and trundling snores–)
The room is too quiet, and he sighs.
He’ll never get used to sleeping alone.
x.x.x.x.x
Come home earlier next time, it’s not safe late at night.
P.S. It’s your turn to make lunch but I’m getting up early because I’m sure you won’t wake up.
He plucks the note from the board, smiling at the first part of the message, sticking his tongue out at his roommate's back at the latter half.
Grabbing a pen from the table, he scribbles his reply and sticks the note back on the board before grabbing his things to shower.
His phone lights up with a new message, and he types a reply with a small grin before leaving, closing the door quietly behind him.
In the silence of the room, the phone vibrates periodically, marking the pauses between the soft snores from the occupied bed.
