Hey! Anon with the last BTH bingo prompt for Jason here ๐Ÿ˜Š Thank you so, so so for accepting my request, never mind responding to my ask! That made me ridiculously happy ๐Ÿ˜ Thank you! โค๏ธ No rush with writing it, though, ofc ๐Ÿ˜Š Btw, I was wondering; what's your favourite pairings? And/or tropes? If you don't mind me asking?
Hello again! It's great to hear from you :) and you're very welcome-- I'm figuring out the details for your request and I'm very excited to write it! (I'm going to try and write prompts in the order I received them. Hopefully my procrastination writing override kicks in and lets me speed-run things, because I'm greatly looking forward to all of them.)
I'm absolutely thrilled to talk about that! I love hearing from readers in any capacity. (And I will also take any excuse to talk about my expansive fic habits.) It is very late where I am, so be prepared for a bit of a rambling response. Let's see here...
My favorite pairings change all the time, tbh. I've been on a bit of a Roy Harper/Jason Todd kick lately (they're just. so wholesome). Also, anything with Slade Wilson and either of the two older Robins is guaranteed to be a fun time. (It's about the rivalry and the constant push and pull and the snark.) Midnighter and Apollo are the best. (A lot less popular/well-known, but their dynamic is so fun.) Frank Castle/Matt Murdock is another good one (irreconcilable perspectives and compromises and foils!). And while I'm not nearly as into Supernatural as I used to be (good god, 2020 was. it was a Time. 2020 was a year that happened), Dean/Cas will always have a place in my heart.
I have approximately a billion favorite tropes, mostly involving some variation of hurt/comfort. The ones I like to write usually end up being variations of painful secrets being revealed, people confronting past abuse or trauma, and self-sacrifice. (We're playing fast and loose with the technical definition of trope, here.) I find relatively outsider POVs (family/friend/partners' perspectives) to be fun to play with, because you get the angst of the events, the angst of seeing how the events affect the loved one, AND the angst of the narrator feeling like they've failed.
Less (inherently) dark tropes I enjoy: truth spells/serums, deaging, undercover missions where the double agent changes sides, and accidental family member acquisition.
Thank you for enabling me to write paragraphs about my guilty pleasure reading :)
