did they make FPWKK live-only to reduce the number of viewers of their otherwise very-cool-seeming D&D show? i'm truly confused about why i can't watch this on my own schedule.
i'm old enough to remember cable tv, yall, and it sucked. i NEVER missed it. why the fuck is this happening in the golden era of streaming television?
#faster purple worm kill kill#dnd#dungeons and dragons#what am i missing here#maybe theyre trying to reduce the number of tumblr girlies in their fandom cuz they know we busy#it is so weird to have to schedule watching a tv show in my calendar like its the nineties again

I just listened to the latest episode of and that's what you really missed on Glee.
Jenna said there may have been a hick-up. We may have thought there wasn't gonna be time, but we made it.
Darren: I didn't want to. But now that we're sitting here I admit that this is a re-do. This was supposed to happen last week and it just slipped my mind. I feel so bad. It was the last week of my run of Little Shop of Horrors. And there was this deluge of people reaching out. Family and friends coming from all over the place. I spent my entire day doing like schedule tetris, ticket tetris. I'm sitting all day doing this and there was that one Wednesday afternoon that seemed to like subside and I look on my calendar and I'm like 'I don't know how but there is nothing on my calendar here' and it felt really strange. I was watching Curb You Enthusiam (with Mia) and I felt weird because 'I'm supposed to be doing something. Something isn't right with it.'
Darren: The summer before senior year (college) I decided to visit friends in Los Angeles. Through a series of circumstances I met some agency people, casting director people that sent me on an audition for that would be the pilot of Glee.
After senior year Darren moved to Los Angeles and booked a TV show named Eastwick.
Later Darren put a video for something like an open call for Glee on My Space.
Darren used to go by his full name „Darren Everett Criss“. But in Starkid he was just „Darren Criss“ and he kept it that way because of the popularity of Starkid. (that was new for me)
Darren on the auditon for Blaine: I'm blindly aware of the importance of this audition. The idea of a new character being Chris' love interest was being picked up. I'm the kind of guy – like any audition I get I stalk every person involved. I learn everything about the casting director, everything about the show, trying to learn everything I need to know to maximize my chance of being involved in it. The breakdown of the person was Tom Ford. I got a haircut. I wore a prep school outfit for the audition.
Darren: I booked this huge thing. I didn't even watched the show a lot, but my then girlfriend now wife loved the show and watched it.
Darren: They flew me first class to New York to record this record (Teenage Dream). And I got to see the girl I was dating who lived in New York. There wasn't a guide track. So I kind of decided what to do, how I wanted to do it. I made suggestions. There were a lot of choices in it that were very deliberate from me.
Darren: I even didn't like the recording that I had and ended up recording at home with a buddy a redo of the vocals for one of the songs.
What I got from the first part: Darren had a totally different experience than Kevin and Jenna. Different audition process, different recording experience for most of the Warbler songs.

Y- Year: /Do they remember anniversarys or important things like that/
WRITERS NOTES: Requests are open so feel free to put in a request- This is a bit short cuz my head is being weird.
Edited: nooooot yet
All art on this post is mine
This is apart of my Crack alphabet
TW: Curssing, drinking, alcoholism, gaslighting, implied trama, Murdoc's hc get's weirdly angsty, I think it's toxic, mean voices in head, smoking, neglect, uhhh I think thats it if not tell me and I'll add it
(Update: Murdocs shity behavior is not ok, its's abuse, I am nto tryingto indorse it!)
Characters:
/Gorillaz/
Russel
- y e s
-It's not like Russel's over the top, its just he has it marked on a calendar, which he did that from the beginning unlike the others
-There's usually a lot on his mind so he will forget- but like I said Russel uses a calendar as a reminder
-And the day of the anniversary/special occasion so the day of he will remember
-And he usually clears out his schedule and tell the others before hand, so the others won't bother him and his S/O nor will his work get in the way
-But if Russel forgets something every once in a while cut this poor boi some slack he has a lot on his plate
-And due to his work or just him not haveing the energy to go out- anniversarys are often more chill, less fancy
-But they are more sentimental as Rus is just that kind of person, he values memories and all that sappy crap despite him not showing it often
-All of this applies to all phases but phase 7 Russel, because he becomes to atched to that TV and the idea of the promise land that he neglects his relationship with his S/O a loooot.... he doesn't even mean to do it on purpose half the time
Noodle
- s o m e t i m e s ?
-It's complicated ok...
-Noodle has an impeccable memory, but if she gets distracted by somthing- it's easy for things to slip her mind
-Noodle is the kind of person to have a anniversary for everything
-And she tries to remember them and did the first couple of times
-But over time she just forgets
-Also older Noodle(phase 7) doesn't try to remember the other anniversaries anymore, just the main one, lifes just too all over the place for that
-But when she was a young adult she was all over that shit
-But much like Russel, work and the others in the band can get in the way
-So she does tend to start preparations/plans for it but gets wraped up in something else
-And from there its a 25% - 75% chance of remembering, and the percentage in which she remembers and forgets switchs almost every time
-If/When she forgets, and when she eventually remembers the anniversary she gets very disappointed in herself
-But you two still enjoy a lovely together- because Noodle is a queen who knows how to organize the best dates
-But if its not a anniversary or something relevant to her- she will most likely forget them-
Murdoc
- n o . . . k i n d a
-In earlier phases Murdoc just drank way to much to remember and really didn't care for sentimental things he just wasn't raised like that
-And if you don't say anything, he'll just go about his day like any other till Noodle says "Hey- Murdoc I'm surprised to see you still in the house... considering its yours and S/O's anniversary"... he spat out his his drink so fast he almost choked as he yells "FUCK" poor 2D was started so bad
-He ran to his S/O so fast
-If his S/O is fine with him forgetting or his S/O forgot too- he'll sigh in relief- and you two decide to just chill in Murdoc's love shack on wheels Winnebago and chill cuddle with each other and watch movies
-Buuuuut if his S/O is genuinely not happy Murdoc will get pissy for a while then start drinking- because he can't stand when his S/O is genuinely upset with him- then he druckenly begs for forgiveness
-And he may even try and gaslight his S/O saying it's all their fault- and he's innocent because his S/O didn't tell him or remind him(even if they did remind him a coupleof days prior) , so it's all on them- but if that hurts his S/O, he just kind walks away hoping it will all go away
-And if you sit him down and tell Murdoc that he upset you but still love him it's really awkward... then the night can go on relatively well
-But if not ah... it will either lead to a fight or you two pretend it didn't happen
-In later phases and earlier in the relationship he'll forget because he's not as invested in that kind of stuff
-But the longer he's with his S/O the more he is likely to remember AKA he gets a alarm or something to remind him
-He can do something fancy- but he's not gonna have any manners so its best if you stick to something simple
-Murdoc always remembered his and his S/O's anniversary when he was on plastic beach, and would even talk/mention it on pirate radio
2D
- y e s - i s h
-Listen- as much as I love 2D... he couldn't find his way out of a paper bag
-But he is also very determined
-Determind to remember his and his S/O's anniversary
-This counts in any phase
-He really wants to remember soooo bad
-He has reminders every where- and I mean EVERY WHERE
-But in the end he still forgot
-And 2D gets really depressed when he does, especially if he's been in a relationship with his S/O for a while
-Even if his S/O says its ok and comforts him, in the back of his head, a little voice is lampooning him
-The day before the anniversary he gets really giddy, like he can't stop smiling, I mean he even smokes a bit less
-Though before the couple of days before the anniversary he smokes more because he's anxious he's gonna forget
-And the day of and a few day's after the anniversary he smokes more due to his feeling like shit for forgetting
-He's also upset because he had a whole day pland and now his plans ruined because he only remembered/got reminded of the anniversary half way through the day
-With any other special event 2D will try to remember it- emphasis on the try
-He's not as determined as he is with anniversaries but he tries his best
========================
Tree- I spent 30 minutes trying to confirm that Russel was looking for that promise land and not some other shit- and i ended up goinng down a fucking rabbit hole and got completely distracted, and in the end all I had to do is watch that fucking murdoc talks about some crap and recaps lore and shit which took me like 2 minutes- Fucking ADHD how you pain my writing flow

TGIWednesday: The struggle in the 'hood is real!
TGIWednesday News
I returned home last week mid-morning after working out at LA Fitness to find my little house utterly surrounded by marked and unmarked police cars! It’s always at that moment, you take pause and really ponder what have I done or as Sheldon Cooper PhD on The Big Bang Theory TV show would pontificate, “What fresh hell is this?” Come to find out some man sitting in his SUV next to our property was accousted by an assailant at knife point and relieved the driver of all of his money and his wallet. To me it represents the ying yang of life and the ebb and flow of how chaotic the full moon times can be. Later that day I would see our El Presidente' of our neighborhood association who would remind me about our Fall party in the 'hood being held at an historical home on sale right now for a mere 40 million dollars. The struggle is real and life is weird. Regardless of your role in this incarnation, give it your best to make it fun,creative and enjoyable. That’s all I know to do and keep on keeping on! Hard to believe it’s October... join us for a variety of events happening this month, Live call in interview with Darius on Halloween and a special Zoom event on Wednesday Oct 25th!

DAILY PRAYER TESTIMONIAL
"Jimmy, On our last prayer list we had - “Sell our family nursery." Just letting you know that a young chap who lives in the next town up was in partnership with an older gentleman and he had just spent all his savings in buying the older gentleman’s share in the business. Then our business came up for sale and the young chap was disappointed that he had made an incorrect business decision. Meetings, phone discussions, emotions... now the young chap has moved into the residence at our nursery with his family. He will make payments to purchase the business in the future. ADHD Coping Strategies
these are the things that have actually genuinely worked for me. I’m not guaranteeing they will work for you (I hope they do!) but I am guaranteeing I will not put “buy a planner” on this list.
okay, I know I said no planner talk, but I am religious about my phone calendar app. I put everything in there the second it occurs to me - appointments, sure, but also vague things like “call Grandma” or “post office?”. seeing it on a calendar instead of a list works better for my brain. whenever something I need to take care of within x amount of time occurs to me, it gets written down. I have stopped mid-sentence to pull out my phone and schedule “shower” for the next day (can you believe it took 28 years to get diagnosed lol). the key is not what tool you use, it’s finding one that is convenient, and then not being ashamed to use it (and never telling yourself “oh, I’ll remember without writing it down”)
let one task bleed into another, and try to separate your body from your brain. this one is huge for me, and might be tough to describe. basically, when I am avoiding a task and stuck in a phone scroll loop, I cannot get my brain to switch from Task A to Task B - it just won’t happen. so I try to bypass the switch altogether. I try not to consciously think of “starting” anything, and I bring Task A with me as I move a little. so, I’m sitting around rewatching a YouTube video, avoiding a shower (you know the mood). without thinking about the shower, I will continue to watch YouTube, but just stand up. basically, I don’t tell myself “okay, I’m stopping now” and “okay, time to start!” I just sort of...blend the two together. ease the transition. I’m still scrolling through twitter, but I move from the couch to the floor to prepare to work out. the TV show is on and I’m still watching as I move toward the kitchen. without me noticing, Task B has started, and with the worst behind me, I can finish doing it. (I can also sometimes just make my body do things physically without engaging my mind, but this might be an acquired skill and doesn’t work every day. mentally, I’m still in bed, but physically I’m now standing in the bathroom, huh weird, better start getting ready for the day.)
care about how you feel as much as you care about what you do. due to low self-esteem, I seem to think it’s okay for me to spend literal DAYS in agony because I can’t do a 15 minute task. when you think about it, it’s such a cruel and narrow way to live. why am I okay with feeling afraid and guilty all day, but I’m not okay with just giving myself permission to put this task off until tomorrow (or even just sitting down and doing it now, so I can feel happy and proud for the rest of the day)? why do I see my life as just an endless series of to-do lists instead of an experience to be lived with joy and by my own values?
separate moral judgements from your actions. this is a HUGE thing that came up for me in therapy. I am always judging myself as a good or bad person based on, like, productivity and my to-do list? which is so stupid. and I know, consciously, it is stupid. but I also, unconsciously, think about myself in these terms ALL THE TIME. my therapist started pointing out every time I used “should” or “supposed to” when I spoke, and it was almost every sentence. I’m always acting like I’m performing for some moral authority, like I’m being graded (burnt out gifted kids who were raised Catholic say ‘heyyy’). you are a good person. you need to find a way to make yourself believe that without an outside authority.
subdivide the day into smaller chunks. if I meant to get out of bed and run errands at 8 AM, and it’s now 1 PM and I’m stuck in a shame spiral and haven’t left my bed, it’s easy for me to just write the day off as fucked and give up. it’s really, really powerful if you can stop measuring time in units as large as a day. generally, I like to think of the day as split up into 4 segments. now, if I waste the morning and afternoon, that’s okay! I can turn the day around now and decide to make the 3rd or 4th part of the day better. shower at 3 PM and put on clean clothes like you just woke up. run errands at 7 PM if the store is still open. write the email at 2 AM (and schedule it to be sent at a normal time - shhh night email is my little secret). just begin again. you can always begin again, any time.
please, for the love of god, find ways to be nice to yourself, to consider the best possible scenario, to forgive yourself, to believe, truly, that you don’t deserve to be sad and scared and stressed all of the time. your life should not be something you feel you are avoiding or missing out on. please imagine a better life for yourself, and take the time to remind yourself that you deserve goodness and kindness and grace, especially from yourself. be gentle.
medication and therapy. I know this isn’t feasible for a lot of people - I couldn’t afford it for a decade. but if you have the means and have just been putting it off because “it’s not that bad”, please go. I thought I was doing “fine” because I had been worse. meanwhile, I had stopped even imagining my life could be better. turns out my “fine” was leagues below where I deserved to be and how I could feel about myself.
becoming aware of the way I think about myself has been such a powerful tool for managing my symptoms over the last few years. it often feels like my lack of productivity makes me feel bad, but the reality is my symptoms worsen when I already have something I feel fearful, anxious, or ashamed of, so thinking about the way I think has helped me tremendously.
sorry I can only write long posts.

CAN THEY USE CHOPSTICKS: Quite well!
WHAT DO THEY DO WHEN THEY CAN’T SLEEP: Drinks, probably. Maybe fucks.
WHAT WOULD THEY IMPULSE BUY AT THE GROCERY STORE: I don’t think Shaw impulse buys or visits grocery stores.
WHAT ORDER DO THEY WASH THINGS IN THE SHOWER: I am not going to think about this and you can’t make me
WHAT’S THEIR COFFEE ORDER: Espresso (single to triple), black, or black with cream, always a very high quality gourmet blend brand. Shaw’s got very strong opinions on coffee, as with whiskey and wine and tea and fragrances, but he’s also got ZERO judgement on like. . .really fancy complicated Starbucks orders that people like to make fun of. He might judge you for serving him a brand/blend he considers swill, but he’s absolutely not judging the hipster girl in front of him who gets a caramel venti mocha frappe latte or what have you. He thinks it’s weird people judge that, actually. Which is cool until you remember he’s still judging, just something else.
WHAT SORT OF APPS WOULD THEY HAVE ON THEIR SMARTPHONE: Apps related to business, organizing, stocks, calendars/scheduling, and exercise/fitness. No games, no social media, and actually no hookup apps either. He doesn’t need those, his hookups come to him.
HOW DO THEY ACT AROUND CHILDREN: Shaw is literally like a Dickens villain. He emotionally and physically abused his one canon child before abandoning him altogether, and I have no doubt he’s done the same to the many other children I headcanon he has. He treats his own children more cruelly because of his insanely high standards for them, but he’s certainly not kind to other kids either. Cold dismissal is the best-case scenario for any interaction between Shaw and a child. Also genuinely thinks they should be working in factories and mines again, though weirdly that’s got nothing to do with hating them and more to do with just genuinely not seeing why anyone shouldn’t be allowed to work based on age (and the fact he probably was a child worker himself under the table to help support himself his father as a kid, especially when his dad got sick.) Will hit a child, and with little provocation. Also would have no moral qualms taking candy from a baby except that’s off his diet.
Seriously Shaw is at a whole ‘nother level of “fuck them kids”
WHAT WOULD THEY WATCH ON TV WHEN THEY’RE BORED AND NOTHING THEY REALLY LIKE IS ON: I don’t think Shaw really even watches TV now that he can get most of his news from digital media. History channel, I guess. Maybe old movies that came out when he was a kid that he never got to see in theatres because he was too poor at the time. If Ghostbusters is on, that’s a fave of his, but the question said nothing he really likes is on? So I guess that wouldn’t be an option. I guess he’d watch horse racing/horse shows, car shows, maybe some Mythbusters because the engineering angle would appeal to him, probably a lot of Shark Tank type stuff. I think he might start watching Tiger King because the name sounds intriguing, but stop quickly because it’s just a showcase of various super dysfunctional personalities clashing in pointless drama towards inevitable failure, and he’s not interested in that. Like I think it would genuinely just piss him off. As a note though, the person who tagged me answered RuPaul’s Drag Race for their muse (Eros at @erosoftitan, go follow!) , and while I don’t think Shaw would ever choose to watch Drag Race on his own, I think if he ended up watching it somehow he’d actually be into it to a surprisingly (or not so surprising?) degree because of the competition angle and the work and effort the queens put into their costuming. I feel like he’d end up having Very Serious Opinions about who should win each challenge. My god, this could actually be something he and Shinobi bond over! Because you can’t tell me Shin isn’t a Drag Race nut.

Plain Gold Ring
(Part 2)
You left a few minutes before he did. He ran up to his place to change. The two of you had already showered together. You had meetings all day and so did he. You agreed to meet for lunch.
Your thoughts drifted to him all day. His strong hands and the spice of his skin were all you could think about. You should have felt guilty but you didn’t. You two really seemed like you connected on a deep and spiritual level. You told yourself not to be naive. Men who cheat never leave their wives. You were a means of escape for him. You decided to proceed as planned and move forward with your Chicago interview.
At lunch Andy came bounding into your office. Before you could even hand him his fork he had his hands on you. “I can’t focus. You’ve been in my head all day.”
“Me too.”
“Yeah? You thinking of my cock?”
“Your cock, your hands…fuck…your tongue.” He slipped his hand in your panties to find you already dripping.
“Shit, baby. I have to be inside of you. This is gonna be quick.” He slammed his hips into you a few times before you both completely lost it. He eased you back down peppering kisses on your neck and chest. You readjusted your panties, smoothed your hair and sat down at your desk to drink some water.
“Oh my goodness are you going to stay like that all day?”
“Like what?” You knew exactly what he was talking about. You just wanted to hear him say it.
“With my cum dripping out of you? Don’t you want to clean up?”
“I’m good.” You winked at him and handed him his lunch.
He chuckled, “There goes the rest of my day.”
You had easy conversation for the rest of lunch. You asked him about Jacob and how he seemed to be coping. He was happy to talk about it. It was evident he adored his son. And there went the guilt bubbling up again. He could see it in your face. “Is this weird for you?”
“A little. Maybe we shouldn’t do this.”
“We don’t have to talk about him.”
“It’s ok. I like hearing about your life. Besides I brought him up. I just want to be sure I’m not reading too much into this. Like we’re just friends who fuck right? I don’t know if I’m trying to catch feelings.”
He was a little offended but couldn’t express that to you. You had sex the second day that you had known each other. That was clearly not something he did nor did he take it lightly. He meant what he said. He really liked you. He would just have to work hard to show you how much. For now, he would follow your lead.
“Oh yeah. Of course. Friends who fuck sometimes. No feelings to catch.”
You went about the rest of your day and got home at a respectable hour. While you were at your mailbox in your building you noticed Lori and Jacob coming in. You smiled and turned quickly to get to the elevator. You realized a lot of people likely knew who they were and made it awkward like you just did. You just couldn’t leave well enough alone and went back to introduce yourself.
“Hi. I don’t mean to interrupt. Are you Lori Barber? My name is Y/N. I work with Andy.” She looked relieved to hear your name.
“Of course! Y/N. So nice to meet you. Andy told us all about you. This is our son Jacob.” He waved to you and you very awkwardly waved back.
“Well I won’t keep you. I just wanted to say hi.” She looked like she wanted to talk more but you hightailed it out of there up the stairs. You felt like an asshole. She looked like a perfectly nice person. If you weren’t fucking her husband you’d probably be friends. Damn it. You couldn’t do this with Andy. As much as you wanted to, knowing Lori was in the same building was too much for you.
That bottle of red on your counter was calling your name. You ordered dinner and prepped for your interview. Hopefully you’ll get a decent offer and out of here before you make a bigger mess.
——————————————————————
While you were in the bath Andy texted. You didn’t respond. While you watch tv he texted again. No text back. After the third unanswered text he called.
“Hey, Andy.”
“Are you ghosting me?” He sounded like he was joking but not really
“No. Just busy. What’s up?”
“Nothing. Too busy to see me?”
You wanted to say yes. Yes you were far too busy to spend time with a married man. You wanted to tell him go back to his wife. But you didn’t. “Of course not. I’ll unlock the door.” You were a goner.
A few minutes later you heard him calling your name. “Bedroom.” you called out. You had been crying about it all night but you have to end things before it gets serious. Even though you weren’t really dating and you said no feelings, you knew yourself. Under the facade of an overly ambitious lawyer you were a hopeless romantic. In the very short time you’ve known Andy he’s been a great guy. The fact remained, he was kind of your boss and very much married. You couldn’t continue.
“Hey. Are you crying? What’s wrong?” He sat on the bed and pulled you into his lap. You sobbed harder. “Y/n. Baby? Talk to me.”
“I met Lori and Jacob. He really has your eyes. We can’t do this, Andy. I know you and Lori are going through a rough patch but I can’t do this.” He was crestfallen. He rubbed your hand while you talked nodding where appropriate. When it was finally his turn to talk, he didn’t trust his voice to be strong.
“I know we just met, Y/N but, I’ve never cheated on Lori. Not ever. I slept with you because I liked you from the first moment we met. I know you said no feelings but, I feel like if you weren’t on the verge of caring, you wouldn’t be crying over me right now.” He was right. You felt all the things you weren’t supposed to feel.
You stayed up talking for a few more hours and ended up falling asleep in his arms. When you woke up the next morning he was gone. It was just as well. You got your notes together for your interview and called in.
The whole conversation was amazing. You and the managing partners really hit it off. They were younger than the partners at your current firm. A lot of women on the senior team. Not twenty minutes later did you friend text you to say they wanted you to take a trip out to Chicago.
When you got into the office you asked Caitlin to clear your schedule for the rest of the week and booked your flight. You were due in court so you grabbed your bag and badge and headed out.
——————————————————————
You were one of three attorneys on this case. Today was the voir dire so all you’d be doing was taking notes on possible jurors. One of the team members was unable to make it so Andy filled in. It was a pleasure watching him work. This part of the legal process was generally pretty boring. Watching him was like theater. You were fawning all over him like a school girl. It was frankly disgusting. At the end of the day Andy called a team meeting to compare notes and start working on court strategy.
You worked through dinner. All of you were exhausted by the end of the night. Since you were leaving the next morning, you handed your coworker Jeremy all of your notes and went to your office to pack up.
“Y/N, can you be in a little early tomorrow? I want to run through a couple of things.” Andy called from your doorway.
“Sorry. I’ll actually be in Chicago. Family emergency. I put it on your calendar this morning. Jeremy has all of my notes. I’ll be out of pocket for most of the trip. Shoot me an email if you need something. I’ll try to get back to you.”
He frowned and let out a deep sigh, “I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how important this case is. Can the trip be rescheduled?”
“I’m sorry. It can’t be. Jeremy is up to speed on everything. He’s done just as much leg work as I have on this case. You’re in good hands.” You patted him on the chest and excused yourself.
——————————————————————
Andy got home and grabbed a beer. Jacob was sitting at the table finishing some school work. “How is your new job, Dad?”
“Good. Everyone there is really nice.”
“Mom and I met Y/N at the mailboxes yesterday. She’s pretty.” Andy was surprised that Jacob even noticed you. He’s always staring at his phone.
“Yeah. She’s pretty.” He ruffled Jacob’s hair. “What are you working on?”
Lori came in to grab a water. She looked like she was running on the treadmill. She hadn’t found a good route around the neighborhood yet. “Hey. I didn’t hear you come in. We met your coworker. She was really sweet.”
“She’s the one who put you in touch with Linda Raymond.”
“Oh. That was nice of her. We should have her over for dinner. I remember when I was single I had nothing but wine and old Chinese in my fridge. I’m sure she’d like a home cooked meal.”
Andy was irritated with Lori’s assumption. “She’s a grown woman. I’m sure she feeds herself.” He knew you did because he’s been in your fridge.
“Well anyway. I’d like to thank her. I’ll send her a bottle of wine. Maybe you can ask her assistant what she likes.”
“She drinks Cabernet.”
He got up from the table and changed into his gym clothes. There was a really nice gym on the bottom floor of the building. He had every intention of going there but he couldn’t get you off of his mind. You mentioned all of your family lived down south. What kind of emergency could you have in Chicago. Maybe it was a guy. You didn’t mention one. He didn’t ask. He wouldn’t be surprised if you had a booty call in Chicago. You were distracted all evening texting someone. He pushed the button for your floor.
——————————————————————
Your flight was early so you started packing when you got home. Half way through your wine fueled solo dance party, Andy was at your door. You were a little tipsy and feeling bold so you answered wearing only a tshirt and panties.
“Evening, Andy.” You opened your arms to welcome him inside.
“Evening. Do you have a minute?”
“Sixty an hour, sir and they’re all for you.” He followed behind you to your bedroom.
“Are you drunk?”
“Not yet. But! The night is young.” He watched you dig through your closet selecting dresses and shoes. Nothing very casual.
“You sure do dress up for a family emergency.” You rolled your eyes at him.
“What do you want, Andy?”
“What’s in Chicago?”
“What’s with the questions?”
“Why are you answering my question with a question? Nothing more suspicious.” Fucking lawyers.
“What do you want, Andy? I won’t ask again.”
“You. I won’t see you for a few days and I’ll miss you. If you are going to see a guy, as I suspect by the amount of lingerie you’ve packed, I want you to remember how good you have it at home.”
Your cheeks heated and your cunt started paying attention. “So demanding, Mr. Barber.” You patted him on the head and attempted to walk away from him. He grabbed your hips and ran his hands under your tshirt over your bare belly. “Andy, we agreed.”
“No, you agreed. I did not. I still want you.” His index finger stroked the wet spot on your panties. “Looks like you still want me too.” Your eyes fluttered closed as you leaned into his touch. He nuzzled your clothed pussy nipped and sucked. His hand rubbed broad strokes over you before he pulled them down and began flicking his tongue over your clit. You let out a low moan of appreciation. “Want me to stop?”
“Andy…” He cupped your pussy and slipped in two fingers grinding the palm of his hand against your clit.
“What’s that, honey? Answer me. Do you want me to stop?” His body was pressed against yours.
“No. God no. But you have to. Your wife…”
“Don’t worry about her. Worry about yourself. Do you want me to stop? Tell me to stop.” he growled into your ear. He pressed his erection into your hip she continued finger fucking you.
Your head went blank and your pussy took over again. “Don’t stop. Please, Andy. Never stop fucking me.”
He spent the rest of the night squeezing every last ounce of pleasure from your body. You showered and ate a very late dinner after which you fell asleep watching a movie. This was a level of bliss you had never enjoyed in your whole life. You were falling in love with him. Fuck your stupid feelings.
Your very full bladder nudged you awake. As you slipped back into bed, Andy’s phone screen illuminated the very dark room. You went to turn it off and saw several missed calls and texts from Lori.
You felt like you were doing something horribly wrong. Not like you could see anything she said. You weren’t sure if you should wake him. But, what if it was an emergency? Something could be wrong with Jacob. You nudged his shoulder but he didn’t budge. This man slept like the dead.
“Andy? Wake up.” you whispered in his ear.
“Hmm? What’s wrong?”
“Lori keeps calling. I wasn’t sure if it was an emergency.”
He grumbled and scowled at the device. “It’s nothing. Go back to sleep.”
“It has to be something or else she wouldn’t have called you so many times.”
“I missed counseling tonight. She’s pissed.”
“Go home, Andy. I can get myself to the airport.”
“No. I’m with you tonight. She’ll have me the rest of the week. Come back to bed. Please, baby. I have to get my fill of you before you leave.”
You had a choice here. You could get back in that bed and spend the rest of the night with this beautiful man. You could feel happy and loved and ignore the fact that, two floors up Lori was likely pacing the floor. Or, you could tell him about Chicago and be done with this mess. You chose option B. It was going to hurt like hell but you had to rip off that bandage.
“What’s in Chicago is a position with a major firm. I’ve already had my first interview. They asked me to fly out for a few days. They’ll make me an offer and I’m going to accept.” He was silent. “Say something. Please.”
“I think I’m falling in love with you.” You smacked him in the face with your pillow. “Ow! Hey! What the fuck?! Stop it. Y/N stop! What the fuck is wrong with you?”
You were pissed and on the verge of tears. You switched on the bedside lamp and paced the floor mumbling to yourself. “We’ve only known each other for a couple of weeks. Fuck you. You aren’t falling for me. You’re in love with the fantasy that is our relationship.” You took his left hand and pointed to his wedding band, “As long as this is on your finger, you belong to Lori. You will never be mine. Go home, Andy. I’m going into that bathroom. When I come out, you need to be gone. Who the fuck says they’re falling for someone right before they get on a plane?! You’re almost guaranteeing it will crash.”
That stupid wedding ring. He never took it off. It must be graphed to his skin by now. You felt it when you held hands. It pressed into your breasts when he grabbed them. He was never aware of it but you always were. Painfully aware.
After a few minutes you heard your front door slam. You popped a nerve pill and got back in bed. Fuck Andy fucking Barber for being so perfect. Fuck your stupid pussy for getting you involved in the first place and fuck your stupid heart for feeling anything. You cried yourself to sleep.
——————————————————————
At six am Andy stood in his floor to ceiling window drinking his coffee. He saw you pacing the street waiting for your Uber that was five minutes late. The guy didn’t even take your bag. The car sped away taking his whole future with it.
He couldn’t fathom why you had such a soft spot for his wife. You had from the first time you met. You got her a job and went on a one woman crusade to save their marriage. He guessed you just felt like she had gone through enough. Andy hadn’t really forgiven her for almost killing them in that crash. She didn’t forgive him for his father’s involvement in Jacob’s acquittal. There was no going back. He filed for divorce the next day. Whether the two of you got together or not, he and Lori were done.
——————————————————————
When you got home you went to the mailbox first. You had a few magazines stacked on the table. You guessed no one wanted to steal your copy of Forbes. You saw Lori and smiled. Your earbuds were still blasting away so you didn’t immediately hear her talking.
“I’m so sorry. Did you say something?”
“It’s ok. I’m used to it with Jacob. I said I never got to thank you for passing on my information to Linda. I got the job.” (you already knew) “Anyway. I wanted to invite you for dinner sometime as a thank you.”
“I appreciate it. You really don’t have to.”
“Nonsense. I can use the company since Andy moved out.”
You dropped your things and cursed under your breath. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t know.”
“It’s ok. It was a long time coming. Let me know what works for you. I’m good anytime really.” She got onto the elevator and you stood in the lobby frozen.
You didn’t want to let Andy know you knew right away so you just sent him a quick message. “I’m back.” When you got back into your place your phone rang.
“Did you take the job?” He hadn’t even given you a chance to say hello.
“I did. They need me there in a month. Taking on a class action. I’ll wrap up what I can here and then I’m gone.”
“And I can’t convince you to stay.”
“It’s a really impressive offer. I can’t pass it up.”
“I filed for divorce.”
“I’m sorry to hear that.” (No you weren’t)
“So I have a month to make you fall in love with me.”
“Andy…”
“Can I come over?” Say no. End it. Absolutely not.
“Sure. No physical contact.”
“I’ll be a perfect gentleman.” Now if you could only say the same for yourself.

Depth Over Distance - Part Two [Rudy x Reader]
[A/N: I haven’t found a hometown Rudy fic yet soooo I wrote one. I have no idea where this story is going to go and I’m honestly finding it hard to get out of writing JJ and get into writing Rudy, but here we go anyways. I wanted to write something where the reader and Rudy were hometown friends before he moved to LA, and to explore the idea of how that would change/what it would look like when he comes back. Get ready for a S L O W. B U R N. my dudes. Peace and love, Mossy x]
You blinked a few times and looked around you, realizing you were on the beach still, empty beer cans scattered on the blanket around you. You took a moment to sit up and rub your face before looking up at him, where he stood perfectly still above you, arms crossed, looking down with a grin on his face.
“What the f...” You trailed off, looking around you again. “I’m on the beach”
“That you are”
“You’re on the beach”
“That I am”
“What are you doing on the beach?”
Rudy looked down at you, amused, and took his hat off to run a hand through his hair before sitting down next to you.
“Not quite how I imagined you reacting after 4 years but...” He looked over and smiled again, you smiled back as you both opened your arms, leaning into a deep hug.
“Ooooh man, it is good to see you, Y/N” He said into your neck as he squeezed you, a classic Rudy bear hug, lung crushing and comforting.
“Hi Rudy” You mumbled into his neck and pressed into him deeper. “Where you been?”
It was a rhetorical question, it wasn’t as if you both hadn’t been keeping tabs on each other for the last few years on instagram and facebook. When you broke apart from the hug, Rudy sniffled and nodded at the one remaining full beer can that sat in the sand beside your backpack.
“Party fowl” He said in a lighthearted tone. You smiled and readjusted your position to face him instead of the water.
“You’re here early.” You said, taking him all in. He looked mostly the same...with the addition of a slightly better hair cut and some more defined facial features. All traces of baby fat were gone.
“Actually I’m here on time...Alan messed up the flight schedule in his calendar. Had to get a car at the airport and drive myself here last night, caught the ferry this morning.”
You nodded along to his narrative, trying not to stare at his chiselled jawline. When did that even happen? You finally registered what he said and did a double take.
“You took the ferry this morning? And the first place you came was...the beach?” You looked at him sceptically now. He shook his head and laughed airily.
“Actually the first place I went was your house. But your car wasn’t there so I drove to all the usual spots until I found it.”
You considered this for a second, watching him blankly.
“Seriously?” You said after a few moments. “I thought you would have...I mean, where are your parents?”
“They’re at home...but you know how my dad is in the morning.” He joked before looking out over the water. After a few seconds of confused silence and you staring at him, not able to place if he was joking or being serious, he looked back over at you.
“Truthfully...I wanted to come say hi to you before people knew I was back. My dad has this whole...list...of things to do, and places to visit, and people to see over the next couple weeks, honestly its going to be hard to find time to sleep knowing his militaristic tendencies.”
Your face softened and you picked at a piece of fabric on the blanket, watching him. The morning air was cool and your cheeks were flushed, you could feel it. The mist was starting to creep down through the tree line closer to you, but you could only see that through your peripherals. Your entire line of vision was consumed by Rudy’s light grey long sleeve shirt and red and white trucker hat, two pieces he had left home with 4 years ago.
“What?” He asked quietly after a few minutes of your eyes focussed on him.
“Nothing, sorry. Nothing” You looked at your feet before looking out over the water and back to him. “It’s just...weird seeing you here. I don’t know, I mean we’ve hardly talked for more than 5 minutes over the last couple years and now you’re sitting beside me. It feels like yesterday but, so much has ...changed...since the last time you were on this beach.”
You recalled the memory of him standing in front of you, hands in his pockets, telling you he was leaving the next morning, he had booked an earlier flight than originally planned. It had been pouring rain and he had come to say goodbye, but you were heartbroken and couldn’t say it back. He planted a kiss on your forehead after hugging you, then disappeared down the trail in his hiking boots and backwards hat. You sat down on a log when he left and didn’t get back up until the next day. You hadn’t gone to the ferry to say goodbye. You always regretted that.
You looked back at Rudy now, and found him looking at you with an expression of concern.
“What?” You asked apprehensively
“You look...different” he said gently, his eyes staying on your face.
He knew about the specialists and the “health scare” as you had called it, so it wasn’t as if any of this was a surprise to him...but you figured it might be weird seeing you in person, looking the way you did, for the first time. You chewed on your bottom lip and forced out a pleasant smile, looking down at the sand and fiddling with a pebble.
“Well, you know...a lot can change in 4 years” You said quietly. He was watching you closely now, waiting. You tried to shove off his inquiring glance and inquisitive silence by diverting the conversation back to him.
“You, on the other hand, look completely the same and I am tremendously disappointed. Where is your movie star outfit and your entourage of big men in black suits?” You joked, bumping his shoulder. He smiled and looked down, shaking his head.
“I’m not a movie star” He said quietly, picking at the sand around his feet.
“Really? Has anyone told your dad that?” You laughed. Rudy laughed too, then leaned back onto his elbows and tipped his head back, the sun kissing his skin.
He was so much more tan than he had ever been living in Alaska. His skin was glowing and his hair was lightened on the tips, as if he had just walked off a beach in the Caribbean. You scanned him from head to toe, noting that his jaw wasn’t the only thing that had gotten more...defined. He had always been fit, but the way the fabric of his shirt fell in the crevices between his abs, outlining his 8-pack, was more...noticeable, than you remembered it.
“How are you, though. Really.” He looked up at the side of your head and waited for you to speak. You blinked and looked away, trying to swallow but failing, resulting in a coughing spasm to clear your throat.
You didn’t want to get into it now, he had just gotten home, and for some reason he had come to see you first out of everyone in town who would be just as happy to see him. The last thing either of you needed was to drag up the drama you had been engulfed in for the last few years.
“You know...good. Fine.” You nodded, throwing the pebble you had been playing with away and towards the water. “Working...spending a lot of time with my dad...he has some family from Germany here this weekend and I’ve been graced Captain for the trip...I guess Sylvan walked out on him a few days ago.”
Rudy nodded his head, knowing exactly who you were talking about. You had done the trips up the coast with your dad more times than you could count, Rudy had been on more than half of them with you.
“And sleeping on the beach? That a thing you do now?” He prodded, half seriously.
“Ha ha.” You retorted, grabbing another rock and throwing it into the water. It made a hollow plunk as bubbles surfaced. “No”
“Good”
“How are you? How is the City of Angels?”
You expected him to start gushing profusely about the warm weather and palm trees, or boast about all his friends, or brag about the constant flow of jobs he being getting offered since his TV show blew up internationally. Or ...maybe the money, if nothing else. Instead, he sat up and rested his arms on his knees, his face shadowed with something uneasy, a darkness in his eyes.
“Rude?” You asked quietly after a few long seconds of silence.
His eyes flicked to you briefly and he smiled shallowly before grabbing another rock and throwing it so hard into the water it created a small wave. He sighed deeply and shrugged his shoulders before turning to look at you. His voice was sad when he spoke.
“I needed to come home for a bit.” He looked deeply at you then, something heavy in your chest when you saw his eyes wet with tears. “I needed my friend.”
The expression on his face and the way his shoulders seemed to sag forward hit you so hard that you impulsively leaned forward and buried him in a hug, feeling him relax slightly before his shoulders started to rock and you felt him hiccup. He was crying.
“Rude-“ You started, feeling him squeeze you tighter as you rubbed his back slowly. “What’s going on...”
He shook his head in your shoulder and kept his face buried, still hugging you tightly. You felt his hands move slowly up and down your back along your ribs, which lived just below the skin now. You didn’t think about how different your body looked and felt that often anymore...it had become the norm to everyone around you by this point. Now, as Rudy’s hands moved along your back, feeling your exposed ribs and spine, exploring them with his fingers as if he was feeling them for the first time (which he sorta was), you remembered just how different your last hug with him had felt. You were a different person then.
After a few moments of silence he brought his face out and rested his chin on your shoulder, his breathing slow in your embrace. He sniffed before speaking.
“I never appreciated this place the way I should have, you know? I never appreciated any of this the way I should have.” He said darkly. You understood his meaning.
You broke the hug, against his opposition, and leaned back far enough to look at his face, your hands moving to his cheeks. Seeing him so sad and so unlike his usual light and happy self rocked you, you felt a lump in your throat. Your thumbs stroked the skin under his eyes.
“What is going on?” You begged, praying he would open up and explain what had him so wrapped up and overwhelmed. He dipped his head into your palm and closed his eyes, then pushed out a smile before grabbing each other your hands and pulling them into his lap, squeezing them.
“Its just good to be home, I really missed it.” He whispered, his eyes darting back and forth with your own and scanning your face. “I missed you.”
You frowned and shook your head lightly, he pulled you into another hug before standing up and offering his hand to help you get up.
“Now what do you say we go see my parents and steal some breakfast?” He smiled, wiping his face and blinking the brief darkness away.
You nodded silently, bending down to collect your stuff. Rudy grabbed the empty cans and shoved them in his pockets, helping you fold the blanket up. You walked side by side down the beach towards the trailhead back to the parking lot. You could feel Rudy’s gaze on you every few seconds, his towering 6ft stature always creating shadows over you.
“How long are you staying?” You finally broke the silence, looking up at him over your shoulder. He shrugged.
“Depends...a few weeks for sure. Probably months. Haven’t nailed down the details with my agent yet...but so far I don't have to be back in LA until the fall.”
“So we have some time?” Your voice sounded sheepish and small. Rudy looked down at you and something flashed across his face before he nodded and slung an arm around your shoulders.
“Ya, we have some time.”
You rounded the corner then and emerged from the trail into the parking lot, staring at your cars for a second. Rudy looked at your car and you could see him inhale deeply, smiling beside you.
“My door handle still broken?” He asked, wandering around to inspect the passenger side.
You nodded, smiling. My door. He hadn’t been in your car in 4 years, but he still referred to the passenger side as his own. It was like everything had changed and nothing had changed at the same time. He walked back and passed you the beach blanket.
“Ill meet you there?” You shifted on your feet as he pulled his keys out of his pocket.
“See you in 5” He winked then walked towards his rental car, flipping his sunglasses on before climbing in the drivers seat.
You watched him peel out of the parking lot and onto the road that both of you had driven so many times you could practically drive it with your eyes closed. Waving once, you climbed into your own car, closing the door and releasing the breath you had been holding since you woke up. When you had given yourself a few seconds to regain your senses, you started your car and took off down the road, following the boy you had followed your whole life.

5 Tips for Developing a Daily Writing Habit
Last month, I set a couple of goals for myself (like most people tend to do at the start of a new year) that I want to achieve over the next year:
1) Write my first novel draft.
2) Write every day.
I can’t say much on my progress on the first goal – most days I feel like I’m splashing about in the deep end of a pool, treading water – but I can say that I’m writing every day. Some days I’m barely scratching a hundred words, and some days I’m blowing past a thousand. (I have yet to breach two thousand words, but I’m hoping to, soon.) There are a few habits I’m developing that’ve been helping me increase my productivity, and will hopefully help me keep this streak of writing every day.
If you’ve been struggling to figure out ways to develop your own daily writing habit, you may find these tips helpful. These tips are focused for fiction writing, but they can be adapted to nonfiction writing as well.
1) Track your writing days on a calendar.
This is a simple, effective way to keep yourself on track for writing daily. It works best, for me at least, if you have a monthly calendar. It doesn’t matter if the calendar’s big or small, it just has to have all the days of the month visible. At the end of the day, if you’ve done any amount of writing, mark a “\” through that day’s square. The goal is to keep a string of slashes going for as long as possible. You can use stickers or other marks if you’d like.
I feel satisfied, proud even, when I’m able to make a slash through a day, and when I can see rows of slashes over the course of several weeks. It makes me feel like I’m working towards a goal. I haven’t yet set a goal for myself, but once I’ve settled more into the habit of writing daily, I’ll set my first goal to be the completion of my novel. You can set smaller goals if you’d like, and give yourself rewards, such as scheduling a day of binge-watching your favorite streaming service once you meet X-amount of writing days, or treating yourself to your favorite food.
2) Find the time of day you write best.
It’s possible to write at any time of the day, if you put your mind to it. But I do think there are times in the day when the writing comes easier, which is what I mean by this tip. For me, I find the words flow easier at night, in the time after dinner and well into the “burning the midnight oil” time of the night. (I’m a bit of a night-owl, which as other night-owls know, isn’t a lifestyle the rest of the world is kind to. But we make do.)
You can of course write whenever you like, wherever you like, however long or much you like. But it’s easier to come to the writing when you’ve established a time when the words seem to flow out of you, because you’ll be more eager to actually sit down and get those words out.
That’s my take on it, at least. Let me know how it works for you.
Tips 3-5 relate to and may overlap with one another, but I’m listing them as separate tips for reading ease.
3) Read the scene you last wrote before you go to bed.
I’m not saying that you’ll end up dreaming about the last scene you wrote, and wake up in the morning with the next section of dialogue, action, character development, etc. I have dreamt of characters from a story I was working on in a scene before, but I also had a starring role in that scene, which gave me a weird out-of-body experience because I knew I was dreaming about myself being in a dream–
Anyways, digression aside, I can’t guarantee you’ll dream up anything that can be used in your writing. This activity helps in a more subtle way. Mainly, it helps keep your motivation and momentum to keep writing up. This is especially true if the scene you decided to sleep on is one you’re having difficulty writing. You’ll wake up the next morning refreshed and ready to tackle the scene that’s been giving you so much grief.
And while you may not figure out that problem-scene right from the get-go, you may have at least recharged the problem-solving and creative thinking part of your brain, and brainstormed a few possible directions the scene could go. That’s already a step further in the right direction than you were at the beginning of the day.
4) Think about what you’re writing. All the time.
Even when I’m not writing I’m writing. Or in other words, I’m thinking about what I’m writing. I don’t think I’m alone in doing this – daydreaming is a writer’s best friend. Targeted daydreaming that is, when you’re thinking of which direction to take a specific scene, which scenes you need to include to show one character’s development, how two characters might argue, and anything else you need to think about to keep your story moving forward.
The great part about this activity is that you don’t have to be sitting down at a desk, ready to type or write. You can take a walk, run errands, do chores or whatever else you need to do in your day, and think about your writing. Then, when you reach the point of your day when you have time to sit down and write, you’ll already have an idea of where you want your story to go, and you won’t have to stare at a blank screen and try to come up with something to write just for the sake of writing on the spot.
5) Be open to inspiration.
Finally, don’t be afraid to find inspiration in other books or other forms of media. Finding inspiration doesn’t mean copy-pasting a scene, lines of dialogue, a character sketch, or anything else, from another book like or unlike yours, or from a TV show or a movie. But don’t be afraid to let yourself be influenced by these works, either.
If you’re stuck in your writing, finding these nuggets of inspiration of how this book or that show did a scene that’s similar to yours can show you different storytelling techniques you can use in your own writing.
I’d like to note that while a daily writing habit is good for discipline and productivity, it should never take over your life at the cost of your health and wellbeing. If you have other priorities and obligations – family, work, etc. – make sure you put those first. The writing will always be there, as long as you have the desire to write.
Feel free to try these tips out, and let me know how it goes! If you have some tips of your own you’d like to share, please do reblog this post and add on to this list.
Happy writing!
- Leah

LONELY CHRISTMAS [MIN YOONGI] | FAMILY GATHERINGS
SUMMARY: Christmas has always been your second favorite holiday of the year, especially since you and your boyfriend Yoongi were literally inseperatable. Well, usually you were. But BTS gets more and more famous - world tours, award shows and other idol priorities making it almost impossible to spend this year’s Christmas with your second family.
WARNINGS: so much fluff, but also the dirty kind of smut. fingering, oral (male and female receiving), choking, spitting, raw sex (i dont need to say anything, do i?), switch!yoongi, switch!reader, fighting for dominance, Yoongi being meow meow but also rawr.
QUOTES USED: 2. “That’s the eggnog talking. I’m cutting you off.” 4. “Don’t be such a Scrooge.” 6. “It’s snowing.” 7. “Open it.” 9. “I’m just happy you’re here.” 24. “Is this the part where we kiss?” 31. “Help me decorate.”
Now; Merry (early) Christmas, celebrate well & enjoy this filthy ride to hell.
Also, a big thanks to @holyfluffly, who spent her precious time reading through this & checking for any mistakes. ♥
Since December started to come around – and you finally decided that it was time to stop binging on your favorite Halloween movies -, your house changed from spoopy graveyard to Rudolph’s shed. Fairy lights and beautiful garlands were hung up everywhere and once you plugged all your Christmas lights in, your house was lighter than “Son Goku in his final form”. At least that’s what Jungkook used to describe it when he first stepped into your winter wonderland. It was a tradition your boys always teased you with, but it was a tradition you brought with you from your home country that you wouldn’t want to miss. Your mother used to hang up lights everywhere, different Christmas shapes (you once had this weird reindeer light that looked more like a stabbed donkey, but… well) on every window and your balcony while she said “No matter how far apart we are, your light shines on me” – and 2 years after her death, was your most favorite thing to do once the calendar hit December. That, and ordering a shit ton of products from the LUSH and Bath and Body Works Christmas range. Jimin really loved the welcoming smell of cotton candy and gingerbread men, but Jin would sneeze when you sprayed all their pillows with the Snow Fairy body spray.
Usually, it was Taehyung’s favorite task to pick out a Christmas tree with you, decorating it with the entire family (that obviously consisted of all his band mates, their dogs and you), but this time it was just you, Tannie and Holly walking around the tree field and picking a random one, much smaller than what you’d usually get. There won’t be any presents underneath it anyway. Decorating wasn’t any fun, your Christmas playlist wasn’t helping, the smell of cotton candy wasn’t sweet enough. You made way too many Christmas cookies that wouldn’t be eaten. Your favorite pair of fuzzy socks had a huge hole in them and, oh well, your boyfriend wouldn’t be there for this year’s Christmas.
“Don’t be such a Scrooge, Y/N! It’s festive season!”, Jungkook yelled from somewhere behind Yoongi, energetic as always. “I wouldn’t be a Scrooge if my boyfriend and my friends would be here, celebrating the fest of love with me.” You mumbled quietly, a heavy sigh leaving your chest. It was currently the 17th of December, the first snow has fallen over Seoul, your fireplace crackling softly in the background. Yet, you were freezing. “Jagi, come on. It’s just another day of the year, we’ll be fine. We have New Year’s together, what’s the deal?” Your boyfriend didn’t care that much about festive traditions, hating the thought of Valentine’s Day or Halloween, not even speaking about the stress he always has around the Christmas season. For them, worldwide superstars, it was just another workday.
“You’re just happy you don’t need to wear one of our Christmas sweaters, huh?”, you scolded him, knowing his hate for the scratchy sweaters with the ugly patterns that you always made him and the boys wear for photos and your Christmas dinner at home. “Yeah, I won’t even start talking about those Rudolph ears you bought for our photo last year…”, Yoongi smirked. “I loved those!”, you vaguely heard the voice of Jimin in the background, Taehyung agreeing him on that. “I still wear those whenever I wash my face, thank you Y/N!” Sighing, you wished you were right there, with your loud and energetic boys, instead you were suffering on your own, the pout never leaving your lips.
“Boys, you’ve got 10 Minutes left!”, their tour manager interrupted your sulking, Yoongi nodding at him. “We’ll be right there.” He smiles at your pout, sticking out his bottom lip as well. “I’ll call you after the show, okay? Will you be still awake?” BTS was currently on world tour, playing somewhere in Europe and the time differences made it rougher than ever to talk to your boyfriend every day. You shrug, shivering under the thought of another sleepless night without your love, without the sounds of Taehyung and Jungkook fighting over some videogame and without the thought of Jin’s delicious breakfast to wake up to. “I guess I will, see you later, Yoongs. Bye Tae, bye Jungkook, bye Jiminie!”, you wave to the boys you considered family before smiling sadly at Yoongi. “Good luck, I’m sure you guys will rock that country! I love you.” “I love you too, Jagi. I’ll text you before I’m going to call you, okay? Try and rest.” “Bye, Noona!” Then the screen went black, all you could see was your own sad appearance in one of Yoongi’s oversized Hoodies.
Days went by, you didn’t have the chance to talk very much to Yoongi because of yours and their working schedule, they were currently in the States to record another hit song with some famous American singer that would explode on the Charts the second it comes out. Sure, you loved your boy’s music, you could listen to them sing and rap for hours, they worked hard and deserved all their success – but you didn’t wonder that all of them weren’t in a relationship. Tour life was hard, not only for their girlfriends but for them, too. A simple picture from across the world with a random girl could ruin relationships, just because of a misunderstanding. When you and Yoongi started dating a couple of years ago, Jin had a long-distance relationship – which already sucks for ‘normal’ human beings, but for worldwide superstars? A catastrophe because you couldn’t just come home to your significant other. It was over for them after a few months because she met a nice guy from her apartment complex, because he was there while Jin wasn’t. It was sad, especially for the Maknaes, because they needed affection, they needed their experience, they needed love. Instead, they had to have One Night Stands, making sure that those girls wouldn’t talk about their “night with BTS”. Truth be told it was too much work to find a girl to get laid, so they’d simply refuse, giving into their frustration and suffer from loneliness.
With Yoongi, things were easy. He didn’t get jealous whenever you hung out with other guys, but he also didn’t give you any reason to be jealous as well. People always describe him as “cold”, “depressed” or “weird guy that’s always quiet”, but once he warmed up to you, he was even funnier than Jin, his dry humor and loving gestures winning over your heart immediately. He was a family person, loving to be in a cozy home surrounded by his bandmates and you, even if he’d never say that out loud, all of them knew it. Yoongi was a loving person, whether he was showing it or not.
The 20th December rolled around quicker than you thought, last minute presents were bought, the house completely decorated and one Christmas movie after the other was playing on TV – but you were still sulking. “You didn’t even help me decorate! I had to do all of that by myself!”, you switched your phone camera so you could show Jimin how beautiful the living room looked, smiling at his little pout. “Noona!”, he whined, “Don’t be angry, okay? I promise you I’ll decorate for New Year’s all by myself.” “Don’t worry, Jiminie, it’s not your fault you can’t be here. Where’s Hobi? I’m watching his favorite Christmas movie, but I can’t get in the mood without my sunshine.” Jimin looks around, his lips twitching, but he remained quiet. “Jimin?” “He’s… uhhhh… He’s doing stuff with Yoongi and Tae?” You raise an eyebrow at him, taking another sip of the creamy eggnog you ordered online because it was nowhere to be found in Seoul. “Are you lying, Jiminie?” “No, but… Oh, Jungkook calls for me, bye Noona!” Sighing, you dropped your phone aside, head tilting towards the window while a soft smile appeared on your lips. It’s snowing.
On the 24th December, the boys had their last official concert of the year – in Australia. A 13-hour flight away, plus the two-hour time difference that made your heart sink, because whenever you were ready to call Yoongi, he was already too tired because of the concert and travel exhaustion. As one of the idol’s girlfriend, it was basically your job to watch their performances, you streamed all of them, no matter what time it was in your time zone, but it wasn’t as good as it would be when you were there. You loved going to their concerts, not standing backstage to watch the show, no. You preferred going into the crowd, singing and dancing along with ARMYs from around the world and watching your family from down there, enjoying their glow and sensual performances from a fan’s perspective. But today, it was just you and your laptop, watching the stream in your bed, a cup of your favorite tea beside you, Tannie on your lap and Holly somewhere besides you under the blanket, asleep like always. A smile was plastered on your face as you saw that all of them were wearing those “stupid Rudolph ears” – even if Yoongi looked grumpier than ever. You were fascinated as always – how could those cute little boys turn into Korean gods within two seconds? Of course, the Maknaes were the center of attention, fans chanting for them, dancing and screaming – you couldn’t deny the fact that they looked great, but exhaustion was plastered on all of their faces. Your eyes were plastered on the smol bean that caught your heart and as if he knew, he smiled into the camera, giving it a finger heart.
The 25th December was rough, you didn’t even want to get out of bed, staying under the covers for several hours after waking up. There was no reason so get up if there wasn’t anyone to give presents to. You didn’t use your phone, watching The Nightmare before Christmas again because if you acted like it was still Halloween, you wouldn’t be as sad that you were alone on your second favorite holiday of the year. It was around 12pm when the two dogs came into your room, whimpering because you didn’t take them out yet. “Ugh, fine, fine. Let me grab my shoes and we’ll go out”, you mumbled groggily while heaving your tired body out of bed. Pulling your slippers over your cold toes as you tied your hair out of your face. You didn’t plan to go out for too long, so you didn’t even try to make yourself look good. Humming the movie’s soundtrack, you made your way downstairs, surprised by the warm scent of cinnamon and vanilla that filled the house. “Huh, did I leave my candles on?” With furrowed eyebrows you check the living room, not wanting to burn the entire house down on Christmas, but you stood still in shock when you realized why it smelled just the way it did.
Jimin and Jin were busy in the kitchen, baking cookies and cooking up your Christmas dinner. Jungkook and Taehyung were building a giant gingerbread house while Namjoon sat besides them, frustrated over his own ruined house laying in broken pieces. Hobi placing all of the presents underneath the Christmas tree while Yoongi sat on the couch, Holly on his lap and a loving smile on his face as he saw you in your sleepy state with a frown on your face. “Merry Christmas, babe.”
Suddenly, seven pairs of eyes were on you, smiles beaming across the entire room and seconds later you were caught in a warm, cozy group hug. “Surprise, Noona!”, Jungkook beamed as he pressed a kiss on your cheek, receiving a flip against his forehead from Yoongi. “Lips away, you can kiss Taehyung, not my girl.” Taehyung’s cheeks burned a bright red, Jungkook looked away while biting his lips and Jimin just smirked but pressed you tight against his body. “We’re glad to be back.” Jin groaned, pulling you out of the hug. “Let that poor girl alone, she needs to collect her thoughts first. Look at her”, he pointed towards your face, shock still written across it as you looked into each of your boys’ faces. “You… I mean, how… You were… Australia?” Your boyfriend laughed, now pulling you into a tight hug while burying his nose in your hair, inhaling the familiar scent that always calmed him down. “We’re here, that’s all that matters.” “We took the first plane back home, but we’ve been waiting for you to get up since 9AM, what did you do? It’s Christmas, usually you’d set an alarm at 6AM to run and check your presents”, Hobi pouted, pointing towards the tree.
“I didn’t have a reason to be up, so I watched The Nightmare before Christmas. But now, I’m just happy you’re here”, you smiled fondly at all of them, “Open your presents. Especially you, Babe. Open it!” You clap your hands excitedly, jumping up and down as you hand them their presents: a big, soft blanket for Jimin, so he can roll himself up in it and be cozy the entire holidays. A new Japanese knife for Jin, because Namjoon broke his favorite knife when he tried to cut through a book – don’t ask, nobody knows why he did that. Namjoon got a new KAWs figure he didn’t have the chance to buy yet while Hoseok got a new Palm Angels hoodie. Taehyung and Jungkook got some games for their PlayStation and a set of new controllers, because… well, Jungkook tends to destroy them when he’s in a rage. Yoongi’s present was hard to find because he basically has everything he wants and you weren’t too familiar with all those high end music technologies that you could give him, so you decided on a spa weekend over the holidays, just the two of you in a fancy wellness resort. Exactly what he needed after that tour. “Y/N, you must be poor by now! I should have gotten you a gift card or something”, Taehyung pouted, “You spent way too much on our presents!” You smiled, shaking your head and pressed a soft kiss on his cheeks. “Everything for my family. You’re all that I have left.”
The day went by way too fast; a fabulous Christmas buffet was set up by Jin, eggnog and wine handpicked by the youngest Maknae and Christmas movies of Jimin’s choice made up for all the days you spent sulking in your room. “I love you guys so much. I can’t believe you surprised me like that! Ugh, I really thought I had to spend Christmas with just the dogs.” You placed your head on Yoongi’s shoulder, cuddling deeper into the soft material of his hoodie while he rubbed your shoulder. “That’s the eggnog talking, love. You’re the anchor of our little family, we couldn’t be apart from you over the holidays, Jungkook would’ve driven us crazy and Namjoon would set the hotel on fire while trying to light a Christmas candle”, Yoongi mumbled. “A Christmas wonder! Yoongi confessed his feelings! Tweet that, Namjoon!”, Hoseok yelled while earning a slap on the back of his head from Jimin. “Don’t scare him, he’s like a deer right now, if we just ignore it, maybe he’ll say something nice about us too!” Yoongi just rolled his eyes, pulling you closer toward his small frame while mumbling “Idiots”.
It was past midnight, your tummies filled with delicious snacks and desserts, brain fogged because of the amount of alcohol all of you drank that day – and you were just happy to finally be in bed with your boyfriend again. “You know how lonely the nights were without you? Not just you, but also the boys. I even missed Jungkook’s animal imitations”, you sighed, “I missed breakfast, without Jin all I ate was toast and cucumbers. I’m lucky to be part of your family.” Yoongi smiled, a precious, rare smile that showed all his love for you.
“I had time to think on tour, you know. It’s rough, you not being there with me, I saw all those places, cities and famous buildings, but didn’t have you to share those moments with. I had dinner with Taehyung right in front of the Eiffel Tower, I shared a Pizza in Venice with Jungkook, had beer with Hoseok in Berlin, but I wish I had all those moments with you, love. So, I’m bad at this stuff, you know that. The entire world knows that, but you also know that I love you. And I wish you could be the person by my side on tour, on every tour. I wish you could be my +1 at events, dinner parties or during award shows. I even talked to our management, because an ‘official girlfriend’ is dangerous for all of us. But I didn’t want the world to meet you as my girlfriend, Y/N. I want them to finally meet you as my wife, the woman that won’t ever leave my side. This is probably trashy and I could use better opportunities for that, but… Y/N, my love, my flower, my angel, would you marry me?” Yoongi, the smooth guy he was, pulled out a simple yet beautiful rosé gold ring – without a box – from the pocket of his sweats, sitting in front of you on your bed, crossed legs and a nervous smile on his face. You couldn’t hide the pout on your face, lips quivering and tears dwelling in your eyes while you looked at the beautiful man in front of you, the beautiful ring in his hands and outside, snowflakes fall from the sky. Everything was perfect. “Yoongi… Yes! Fuck, of course!”, you jumped into his lap, not caring about the pling your engagement ring made when it fell to the floor, because right now, your fiancé was more important. You showered his face in kisses, not caring the slightest about the grumpy noises he made – even if they were fake, because he was just as happy as you were. His smile was beautiful, something you didn’t see that much because he seldom smiled so brightly even his bottom teeth were showing. “Is that the part where we kiss?”
You didn’t hesitate to press your lips onto his, soft and loving, sweet and tender. “Min Yoongi, is that the part where you turn into the sweet little kitten your fandom thinks you are?” Smirking, Yoongi growls at you, showing you his teeth once more. “Oh baby, I’m going to show you that nothing on my body is little.” His lips were back on yours, his hands buried in your hair as he made his way between your legs, almost crushing you with the comfortable weight of his body on yours. Whatever loving, sweet innocent kiss you shared before, this one was completely different. It gave way to heated passion as you both continue the lustful, erotic exchange. Yoongi’s shaking but skilled hands started to peel off your ugly Christmas sweater and the rest of your clothes, falling to the floor forgotten, before he gently bites along your jaw and the nape of your neck, leaving a trail of love bites on the way down there. Your moans fill the room that still smells like cinnamon and cotton candy, combined with Yoongi’s musky scent and the sweet scent of a heated make-out session. With his lips still attached to your soft skin, you take the opportunity to catch him off guard and flip both your bodies into a new position; you now straddling his slim waist. Yoongi’s lips widened in shock, then turned into a bright smirk. “Someone’s feisty.” You just smile at him sweetly, cutting off his words as you wrap your hands around his beautiful throat, leaning your face towards his ear. “I wouldn’t speak like that in such a position, Babe.”
Yoongi’s voice hitched, “Y/N”, he whined. The same hand that restricted his airways comes up to slightly slap his scruffed cheek, but it had still enough force to leave a sting that reminded him not to speak up anymore. “Aren’t you going to be a good boy? Or should I call you a good little kitten? Would you like that?” He shakes his head quickly, baring his teeth once more. “Shut that, love. You won’t be able to tame a lion. I’m not a small kitten.” He knows he could switch positions any time, hell, you knew that too. But you also knew that he enjoyed that position too much to change anything now. Shaking your head in displeasure, you crawl down the bed to be at eye level with his beautiful cock. The cock that had you limping almost every night, that never fails to give you pleasure, that already sends tingles to your core. Your hands were cold against the prominent vine that ran from his shaft to his leaking tip, red and sensitive as you licked your finger to circle around it. Tiny moans – mewls – left his mouth, causing you to giggle. You knew it. His balls were tight, full and hurting. He was away for so long, having almost no time to pleasure himself. You cooed, the other hand coming up to gently play with them, rolling them around as you kept applying pressure to his tip. Yoongi’s groans got louder and louder once your mouth was finally working its magic on him, his hands buried inside the loose strands of your hair, trying to shove you down deeper. Much to your displeasure.
You hissed, letting go of his length as you crawled up to sit on his toned chest. Smiling, you slid your fingers through your soaked folds, holding them in front of his sweaty face. “Suck.” Oh, and how he sucks. His tongue working circles around your digit, collecting your sweet juices as he hums happily. “You’re my toy. A fucking toy, do you understand that? You don’t get to make rules here, Yoongi. If I want to suck your cock, I’ll do it how I want, not how you want it. Or did I miss something?” You made sure his eyes never left yours, fingers still inside his mouth – and you just decided to shove them down a bit deeper, making him gag around them just like he wants you to gag around his cock. “I asked you something, pretty babe. Mind answering?” Yoongi hums again, not able to speak with your fingers down his throat, but it was good enough of a try for you. It wasn’t every day you got the chance to dominate Min Yoongi, you were sure to getting everything out of it. You pulled your now wet digits out of his mouth, wiping away his spit somewhere in his mint colored hair, as you turned around to sit on his face, just like he loves you to do. By now, his only problem was holding back his load, eating your pussy wouldn’t help with that though. “Now, are you going to cum for me, precious? While devouring my pussy? I bet you’d like that, huh?” Yoongi hums again, his hands already on your ass to spread your cheeks, allowing him to dive deep into your pussy, drinking your juices, slurping them down like a fine, ripe wine. Teasingly, you continued to jerk him off, enjoying the tension in his body, his concentration on your pussy rather than his own orgasm. “Mh, wait. I changed my mind. Hold it, you don’t have my permission just yet”, you laughed as you squeezed his balls – but he wasn’t able to control it or hold it back. His cock twitched uncontrollably, one small rope of cum leaving the tip. “Ugh, look at that”, you sighed while shaking your head, sitting down deeper on his face – your ass now flat against his forehead as his tongue, the oh so famous rapper tongue, worked its wonders.
If Yoongi was frustrated, he didn’t show it. He knew better. Even though it was his first real orgasm in weeks, his first ruined orgasm in weeks, he stood up the man he was and continued what he was here for. Pleasuring his fiancé. Just before your orgasm arrived, you crawled down again, collecting the small puddle of cum with your tongue and fed it to your soon to be husband. You let him taste himself, he swallowed greedily. “Such a good boy”, you purr while wiping the sweat from his forehead. “Now, I hope you know who you belong to.” Yoongi just nods, licking his lips to still taste you. “Tell me who you belong to, Yoongi”, you command.
“You, babe. Only you. I belong to you”, Yoongi moans out as you started to grind against his smooth thigh, picking up your desired pace as you used him to satisfy your own desire. His hands were on your hips, guiding you and helping you to speed up, but just before your orgasm reached his peak, just one little rock of your hips missing, he turned you around, leaving you with a ruined orgasm as well. “Fucking son of a bi-“, your frustration interrupted by Yoongi’s teeth biting into your nipple, his hand smacking your other tit. “Oh, that’s not a nice word, baby”, he pouts while pinching both of your erect buds with a bit too much force. A sharp stinging sensation radiating through your body. “Fuck, Yoongi”, you moaned, desperate for release. “Now, now”, he tzed as he looked down at your trembling body. “Sucks to be played with, huh?” Elegant fingers started to rub circles into your swollen nub, your body rising from the mattress just to be pushed back by your fiancé. “Still”, he orders, plunging two of his long, delicate fingers into your dripping hole. Yet, you needed more. “Yoongi”, you whined. “Are you going to be a good girl now? Instead of a fucking brat?” “Yes!”, you cried out, tears running down your cheeks, hoping he’d just do something. “Good, because bad girls disgust me”, he spoke through clenched teeth as he pulled out his fingers and shoved his cock inside you within seconds. “Fuck fuck fuck, yes!”
“Shut up! Or do you want the boys to come in and join you, huh? You want our little Maknae see how stuffed you are?” Yoongi always knew about your affection for Jungkook, the way his doe eyes always make your heart jump, leaving it impossible to deny whatever he wanted from you while addressing you as his ‘favorite Noona’. You were weak for him, but you wouldn’t want him to see you in such a situation. Shaking your head in shame, you pout as you dig your heels into his ass to get him to move faster. “Make me cum, please. I love you”, you whine, word for word leaving your lips as he thrusts deep and powerful into your clenching hole. Just before another beg could leave your lips, Yoongi’s index finger slipped past them, your chin securely trapped between his thumb and middle finger. His other hand slowly found its place on your neck. “Look at you”, he smiles. “Such a good girl, knowing how to beg like a big girl.” You whimper again, squeezing around him as he slowed his pace with a devilish smirk. Your lips played with the tip of his finger while the thumb of his other hand came down to circle your clit painfully slow, spitting onto it and watching his finger mixing it with your arousal. Your eyes rolled into the back of your head, both of your hands gripping the wrist that was choking you. “Tighter, please”, you gasped out, enjoying the feeling of almost no air coming to your lungs. Oh, how Yoongi loved to see you struggle for air, just as much as you loved to be on the receiving end. “You gonna come for me, angel?”, he growled as he tightened his grip, already feeling his own orgasm approaching. “Going to cum around my thick cock, huh?” You nod, already seeing spots in your vision, your orgasm shooting through your body just like a firework as soon as Yoongi released you, allowing the blood to shoot back into your head. You couldn’t control your body anymore, gushing against him as you rode out your high with closed eyes. That alone triggered Yoongi’s orgasm, a loud scream leaving his lips as he finally released inside you. “Fuck, you squirted all over me”, he groaned while looking at the mess you made, his stomach glistering in your juices. “I don’t care, I want to snuggle my Grinch now”, you pouted with grabby hands, smiling happily as Yoongi obeyed.
“I think we lost the ring somewhere between our clothes”, Yoongi mumbles with his sleepy voice, “I hope Taehyung won’t find it, he was the one that chose it – ‘If Y/N says no, I’ll wear that one happily’.” Suddenly you’re wide awake, knees on the floor and digging through your clothes to find the symbol of your love. “Got it!”, you yelled as you threw it to Yoongi, holding your left hand in front of his face. “You’ve got the honor, babe.” Smiling, he slid the ring over your finger. The black diamonds sparkling in the dim light of your room, the rosé gold complimenting your skin tone perfectly, just like the man in front of you does. Your fiancé, soon to be husband, the love of your life. “Merry Christmas, love.”

“It’s not that bad” for a Reddie sickfic!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMISSION!
Support me on my Ko-Fi!
For the first time in who knows how long, Richie had a free night. No performances at all. Even better, he put his phone on silent so Steve couldn’t reach him.
He and Eddie’s work schedules never coincided. So, that meant some needed time with his boyfriend. Yes, time to make jokes and have a food fight. They weren’t like most couples, that was for sure.
Richie had been looking forward to this night all week, specifically marking it on his calendar. As excited as he was while waiting for Eddie to return home, his stomach felt weird.
“Hey, Rich, I’m home!” Eddie’s voice called out when he came into the house. “Guess what I have?”
The familiar fumes of tasty pizza made Richie’s stomach turn. “A long one?” he smirked, leaning against the kitchen wall frame.
“Haha, very funny,” Eddie snarked as he took out the plates from the cabinet. “I ordered a with all your favorite toppings. And I got some chicken wings, too. We are going to have the best night!”
Trying to smile, Richie ignored the uncomfortable feeling in his stomach. There was no way that he was going to skip out on an epic night like this one. Making commentary to all their favorite shows was the reason why they couldn’t go to the movies.
It was communication in their own language as Richie’s mother called it when they were kids. Moms were smart. Once (meaning more than just once) they got kicked out because their popcorn fight got out of control.
Richie took a couple of slices and a chicken wing. No way, what was he thinking? He had to fill his plate so Eddie wouldn’t be suspicious. Eddie always worried when Richie wasn’t acting like himself.
“What do you want to watch?” Eddie asked, sitting on the couch.
“There’s that new series, The Strangers.” Richie was having trouble thinking. Luckily, he came up with something. If this were a night where he had to perform then he’d really be in trouble.
As the night went on, Richie felt himself becoming increasingly worse. But he kept on eating along with Eddie who didn’t seem to notice. He was so engrossed in the series that he hardly paid attention to him. Watching TV was their favorite thing to do after all.
“Wow, I can’t believe that she would do that!” Eddie commented on what was happening in the episode.
Feeling his stomach boiling like a minefield, anytime Richie opened his eyes, he couldn’t see straight. This was not the right night for this to be happening! Nights where he had to leave Eddie alone always made him guilty. Although he didn’t mind, Richie knew him too well. The image of Eddie sitting alone on the couch made Richie cringe, shivering.
“Rich, are you okay?” Eddie got his attention. He didn’t realize that he was curled up on the edge of the couch holding his stomach in pain.
“Huh? Oh, yeah...” Richie took a deep breath trying to smile.
Pausing the showing, not like he was paying attention anyway, Eddie felt his head. “You feel warm. You don’t look well.”
“It’s not that bad.” Of course, as soon as Richie said that his stomach plummeted. Bolting to the bathroom, Richie dropped to his knees in the knick of time. His legs shaking a bit, Eddie rubbed his hand over his boyfriend’s back, soothing him.
“Well, you have a small fever,” Eddie told him after the thermometer beeped. Sighing, he removed a strand of hair that was in the way of Richie’s eyes and pulling the covers up. “Have you been feeling like this all day?”
Sighing, at least Richie felt better. He averted his gaze, too guilty to look Eddie in the eyes who was not in any way angry with him. Sensing how Richie was feeling, Eddie held his hand.
“I just wanted this night to be great, Eds. We haven’t spent much time together. I didn’t want to ruin in,” Richie sounded like a child. His eyes drooped, indicating how tired he was.
Eddie snuggled up right next to him. “Oh, Rich, you could never do that.”
Richie was surprised that Eddie was actually cuddling with him. Normally, he’d stay away from him when he was sick, fearing the germs. Who was complaining? He loved this; having someone to hold him when he was sick. In the years that he spent alone, Richie craved for someone to hold him on the bad days, to tell him that he was good enough.
“I love you,” Richie uttered to Eddie.
Looking into his eyes, Eddie smiled in this endearing way. His stomach heated, but it wasn’t like before. “I love you, too.”
Who needed to have the best night ever when Richie already had everything that he needed to make every day the best. For the rest of the evening, he and Eddie relaxed in bed together.

CHAPTER 6: CHRISTMAS PRESENT
Chapter 6: 6784 Words
Fic Total: 21340 Words
Series Total: 21340 Words
The next day was the start of the weekend and I had decided that because I'd been so stressed lately it's time for me to get an Xbox 360 again. Even though I'm no longer doing any new freelance programming jobs I still have quite a bit of money I saved up.
I was in the middle of setting up the TV in my room when Dunc called. "Blue Jay." I said.
"Busy today?" He asked.
I thought for a moment about the breakfast at lunchtime conversation I had with Wilson.
___
"I've got to say the fact you're not lactose intolerant but just don't like milk is slightly concerning." Wilson commented.
I glanced up from my bowl of lucky charms (without milk of course). "I don't know what to tell you man it's just gross. I just don't like most dairy." I said with a shrug.
"What dairy do you like?" Wilson asked, looking more concerned.
"Oh easy cheese and ice cream." I said.
Wilson stared at me blankly for a few seconds. "That reminds me you need a physical." He said.
I set the spoon down. "Like a check-up?" I asked.
"Yes." He said.
"Can we just not do that? I mean like you guys are Doctors I'm sure I'm fine like-" I started to say.
"You're joining the Cheerleaders. They're going to need a physical." Wilson said simply.
Ah no, he's got me there. I groaned.
Wilson looked confused. "You volunteer at PPTH, you met House as a patient in the free clinic, you don't seem to be afraid of Doctors." He said.
"Yeah I know but that was for my wrist. Physicals you have to you know… and like I'm trans so it's just awkward because I'll have to explain that to whatever Doctor it is and like God forbid if they're low key transphobic or not you know?" I ranted but then remembered that Wilson is also trans. So he just kinda stared at me like “yeah I know”.
"Well, you already know all of House's Team isn't transphobic." Wilson said.
He's right there. "But do I have to?" I pleaded.
"Yes. Schedule it with one of them today." He said.
I groaned again before getting back to my cereal.
___
"Uhh I have one thing to do at PPTH." I said.
"Oh? Care to elaborate?" Dunc asked over the phone.
I huffed and put him on speaker while I started to set up the Xbox 360. "I have to schedule a physical with one of House's Team."
"In person?" He asked.
"Well I don't exactly have any of their numbers. I've never asked and they haven't offered I'm a teenager. What adult is going to offer a teenager they barely know their phone number? Makes them look like a pedophile or something I don't know." I rambled. I have Kutner's but he's out of town right now anyway.
"Can't you just call the hospital?" He asked.
"I'm like 95% House would pick up the phone so no thanks. Hi yes Dad what I've never called you Dad before oops. Well I'm NOT calling you. I'm here to talk to your Team because I hate you. That would go great." I joked.
"You haven't called him Dad before?" Dunc asked.
"Okay look I didn't know him for the first 16 years of my life and I've been calling him House since I've met him like at what point do I call him Dad? Is there like a guideline because I'd really like to know this shit is so confusing, Dunc you have no idea." I complained.
"Hmm yeah I guess that kinda sucks." He said.
"Okay but like if I did call House Dad like I had no idea how he'd react. The man might just die for all I know." I joked.
Dunc laughed. "Yeah let me know so I can record it."
"Sure thing." I said.
"Want back up?" He asked.
"You asking because you're really that bored or because you want to watch the shit show?" I asked.
"Can't it be both?" He said.
I sighed. "Yeah sure meet you there in an hour?"
"Sounds good." He said and hung up.
Well maybe it will be a little easier with Dunc there.
~~~
I was idling in the lobby of PPTH waiting for Dunc to show up. The reason that House and his team were even here today on a weekend was because of a case. I wasn't too sure of the details of this one but apparently something happened late last night.
"Take the bus?" I asked Dunc as he walked into the lobby taking off his scarf.
"Unlike you I don't have a parking spot." He grumbled.
Yeah apparently with the amount of volunteer hours I was logging I got a parking spot. It was far away but a free parking spot nonetheless. "You could've asked me to pick you up." I said.
"Your car is a piece of shit dude." Dunc replied as we made our way to the elevator.
I rolled my eyes as I pressed the button. I mean the car works just fine, that's all I could really ask for. "Not all of us are rich like you Lestrade." I said.
"Really? Because Wilson told me who your Uncle was and from what I heard when he died his money went to your Mother which I assume has gone to you now." He said as we got into the empty elevator.
I watched the doors close. I figured this would catch up to me at some point. Going to a school full of rich kids. I figured Ivy was the one who was going to figure it out though. I mean she was the one that found out about Dr. King. "I'm not exactly sure what's happening with the money." I said.
Dunc looked confused. "Why?"
"Uh I bailed from Minnesota the day after my Mom died. I've been a little preoccupied." I said.
The elevator doors open to the floor we were going to. "Why did you even bother looking for your Father if you had that much money?" Dunc asked.
"Because I don't know if I do!" I exclaimed.
A few people turned to look at us which made me freeze up of course.
"What do you mean you don't know if you do?" Dunc said quietly.
I glanced around and the few people who were watching us looked the other way. "Money was a very sensitive topic in my family. I'm not talking about this now." I said and made my way to the DDX Room.
Thankfully House wasn't there. Thirteen and Taub were the only ones in the room at the moment. Thirteen was on the computer and Taub was reading some files. "Looking for House?" Thirteen said without moving her eyes from the computer.
"Who's that?" Taub asked about Dunc.
"Uh no and this-" I started but Dunc cut me off.
"A friend Duncan Lestrade. I'm also one of Dr. Wilson patients." He introduced me.
"We both go to Princeton Prep." I said.
"You go to Princeton Prep?" Taub asked.
I looked at him blankly. Does House never talk about me? I mean that's fine I don't really care but I feel like the fact that I wear the uniform around the hospital a lot would shed some light on the subject. "Yes?"
"He pays for that?" Thirteen asked, surprised.
"I'm there on scholarship." I said with a sigh.
The looks on both of their faces went from confused to oh that makes a lot more sense.
"What do you need?" Taub asked.
I looked back and forth between the two of them. Jeez I hate this.
"He needs to schedule a physical to join the Cheerleaders." Dunc said for me.
I glared at him. I did NOT want the hospital to know I was joining the Cheerleaders just yet. I guess it's not too surprising I mean after the whole Spider-Man thing but still.
"Cheerleaders?" Taub asked.
Great job Dunc. Great job. "I used to be a gymnast." I said softly.
Taub just looked shocked but Thirteen wasn't. "When are you available?" She asked.
I blinked. "I'm here every Wednesday and Friday and most Tuesdays and Thursdays." I said.
"Next Wednesday at 3 work?" Thirteen asked.
I pulled out my phone to double-check my calendar. "Yes." I said and put it in the calendar.
I muttered thanks on my way out of the DDX Room with Dunc.
"See, was that hard?" Dunc said.
"Did you have to tell them I was joining the Cheerleaders?" I huffed.
"I mean they'll find out soon enough." He shrugged.
"I'm not so sure anymore. Like they didn't even know I went to Princeton Prep." I said.
"Yeah, that was a little weird." Dunc said. "Oh and next year you won't be able to volunteer on Fridays."
"Why?" I asked.
"Football games duh." He said.
Oh right yeah. This is going to be interesting.
~~~
I rested my head in my hands after I sat down at the lunch table. I was a bit of an idiot last night and stayed up all night gaming on my Xbox 360. Because it's December I was trying to figure out a Christmas present for House and I thought some gaming would help… It didn't. I just got no sleep and zero ideas. Wilson is easy enough. I have some props from some musicals that my Uncle gave to me a while back. Sure it's regifting but like he's more into that stuff than me. I even have some ideas for House's Team, Dunc and Ivy but House? No clue.
"What's bothering you?" Ivy asked.
I guess you could say Ivy has become my friend now? Despite her being the Cheerleading Captain she actually doesn't have many friends because she tends to piss people off. You could literally stab Dunc and he wouldn't care and I have House for a Father so it's gonna take a lot for her to piss us off.
"Trying to think of a Christmas present for House. I was up all night thinking about it." I mumbled.
"Really? I thought you were up all night playing Dragon Age Origins." Dunc said.
I glared at him. I bought the game recently. "I can multitask."
"Clearly not very well." He said.
"Yeah well, you try having House as a Father for a day and come back to me." I said.
"Can I have Wilson instead?" Dunc joked.
"No. He's actually nice." I mumbled.
Ivy looked back and forth between us. "Isn't Wilson your Doctor?" She asked Dunc.
"Yeah." He said with a shrug.
Ivy thought for a moment. "How did you two meet?" She asked.
I laughed. "Oh man, that was hilarious. You remember that Dunc."
"Pfft, how could I? I almost died from second-hand embarrassment." He said.
"Yeah, I'm so glad Wilson didn't judge me too hard on that first impression."
"Dude that's how you met Wilson?!" Dunc exclaimed.
"Unfortunately." I sighed.
"What happened?" Ivy asked, clearly annoyed that we were leaving her in the dark.
"Right so what happened was this-"
___
Part of me really wished I didn't mention that I was good with computers to Dr. Cuddy when I asked her about volunteering. Once she heard that she totally glanced over everything I said about wanting to become a Doctor someday so it would be nice to see something medical related… Yeah she immediately stuck me with Bill The IT Guy because he's like the only IT person for the whole hospital so he's a BIT overwhelmed. But you know it's fine.
The main issue I'm having now is that Bill is having me running around the hospital a lot and well I really don't know the place that well yet. Yeah I don't know it at all. I mean sure I can find my way to the lobby like 60% of the time but that's about it. I'm currently lost again. I was just grabbing myself a Mountain Dew and a Coffee for Bill at the cafeteria but got lost on my way to IT. Man I've been on so many floors today I'm not even sure what floor it's on anymore.
I turned around a few times trying to look for one of the floor signs that are usually all over the place but apparently are never there when you need them to be. If I was going to guess I was in Oncology. Because you know…
I finally found a floor sign and went over to it but unfortunately IT wasn't on there. I forgot it never freaking is. No one ever goes to IT. I did notice a cute guy my age staring at me from one of the couches. Must be taking a break from his room. I wasn't paying attention when I turned back around so that I bumped into a Doctor spilling the Coffee that I had got for Bill on him. "Oh God I'm so sorry." I said, my face turning bright red. I scrambled to get something to help clean up the mess.
"Hey it's no problem. New volunteer?" He asked, pointing at my badge.
"Y-Yeah Jay Flynn. Helping out Bill in IT because I told Dr. Cuddy I was good with computers but I do kinda wish I could be doing something else." I said without thinking. Wow Jay why the fuck did you just tell him that. He's probably going to tell Dr. Cuddy you just messed everything up.
"Ah well Bill can use all the help he can get. I'm Dr. Wilson by the way. You lost?" He asked.
My face got even redder. "Yeah I forgot where IT is." I mumbled.
"Oh that would be an issue. I guess the coffee was for Bill?" He said.
I just nodded.
"Right well-" Wilson started to say but was interrupted by the cute guy I saw earlier.
"I can show him where IT is Wilson." He said.
Wilson looked at the guy. "Have you had a walk yet?"
"No." He said.
Wilson squinted. "Alright fine."
The cute guy waited for Dr. Wilson to turn the corner before speaking up again. "Okay here's the deal. I can help you out but I need you to help me out."
I blinked. "What?"
"Right so I noticed your Princeton Prep uniform you wear around here and like dude really get some other clothes. But you might've heard of me, I'm Duncan Lestrade." He started.
Right okay wow he's just gonna do this right here right now. "Uh yeah, the dude with cancer." I said.
"Obviously. Anyway. I overheard some of your conversation with Wilson and I assume you're volunteering here because our school's medical club sucks ass." He went on.
I nodded.
"Right so I can put a word in for you with Wilson and Cuddy about volunteering over in Oncology if you tutor me in Science." He finished.
I thought for a moment. "So you're assuming that because I'm volunteering at a hospital I want to be a Doctor so I must be good at Science?" I asked.
"Am I wrong?" He asked.
"Well no but like…"
"What's the problem then?" He said.
I huffed. "Okay fine deal but I'm not calling you Lestrade like everyone else does at school."
"Why?" He asked.
"I don't know it sounds kind of classy, I don't really like it." I said.
"You go to a school full of rich people and you don't like classy?" He asked.
"I'm there on scholarship." I said.
"Hm all the more reason for you to tutor me… Jay Flynn." He said while pulling on my badge.
I pulled my badge back. "Okay, Dunc." I said.
"Really you're going to call me Dunc? I haven't been called that since I was like 6." He said.
"Yeah? Well, get used to it Dunc." I said with a smirk.
___
"You didn't even know where IT was." I said throwing a fry at Dunc.
"I obviously needed an excuse to talk to you." He said.
"He acted like such a rich prick at first." I said to Ivy.
"Yeah, I was kinda surprised when I heard the Football Kicker was hanging out with the new scholarship nerd and that you two weren't like together or anything." She said.
"I mean he was tutoring me." Dunc said.
"Oh come on everyone knows what tutoring means half of the time." She scoffed.
"What?" I asked.
Both of them looked at me. "God for how smart you're supposed to be you are so oblivious sometimes." Ivy said.
"People thought we were hooking up?" I squeeked.
"Yeah, I had to set the record straight." Dunc explained.
I looked at the two of them blankly. God, I have no idea about the drama that goes on in this school, do I? I get a bit of The PPTH drama from eavesdropping and House and Wilson but I don't really care too much. I'm more focused on my own life that has more than enough of its own drama. "You didn't think to mention it to me?" I said.
"You were uh dealing with stuff at the time." Dunc said.
I just stared at him.
"You know, coming out to House." He said.
Oh right. "Oh Ivy knows Dunc. She found out about my gymnastic past so there's stuff about me being trans. Man, that sucks that I'm constantly being outed." I complained.
"Couldn't you like change your last name?" Ivy asked.
I froze. I mean yes obviously but like the most reasonable one to change it to would be House and… "Hi for Christmas I'd like your last name House." I joked.
Dunc snorted.
"Just become a fae and steal it. You're Irish right?" Ivy joked.
"Ah yeah, simple let me just become a fae real quick." I shot back.
"We've somehow circled back to Christmas presents." Dunc pointed out.
"Ugh right, what the hell am I going to get him." I grumbled.
"A name change obviously." Ivy said.
"Ha very funny." I said.
"What's he like?" Dunc asked, trying to be helpful.
I sighed. "Yeah I thought about that but like… All I really know about is Motorcycles, Monster Trucks and Music."
Ivy stared at me for a moment. "Monster Trucks?"
"Yeah, apparently he likes to watch those I don't know." I said with a shrug.
"And you hate Motorcycles." Dunc said.
I nodded.
"Music is vague." Ivy said.
"He plays Guitar and Piano. Listens to a bunch of stuff but uh hates musicals so that's something that he and Wilson don't agree on." I explained.
"Oh, so Wilson is a musical gay shocking." Dunc joked.
"I'm pretty positive he's Bi first of all." I said.
"I'm just saying." He said.
I rolled my eyes. The bell rang signaling that lunch was over. "Well, that was no help thanks though." I said standing up.
"Sorry I can't always save your ass." Dunc said.
I scoffed. "Right gotcha."
He winked at me.
Ivy rolled her eyes. "Oh get a room."
~~~
"Bill?" I said after I walked into IT and didn't notice him right away. I set down my backpack and Mountain Dew but kept holding the coffee that I grabbed on my way up for Bill.
"Servers." A muffled Scottish accent said.
"I'll leave the coffee out here then." I said before making my way to the server closet. I leaned against the door. "What's up?"
"Just checking a few things." Bill said looking at me. "Slow day."
"Because of all of my help clearly." I joked.
"Ah well, the coffee is nice." He said with a smirk.
"Ouch, I'm hurt." I said and fakingly clutched my chest.
"Get out of my server closet." He said shooing me out of the doorway.
"Don't have to tell me twice to leave a closet." I joked.
"Ack you and your gay jokes. I guess it makes sense living with House and Wilson." He commented after locking the closet.
"Mmm, I had two Moms at one point. If I turned out to be straight that would have been surprising." I said.
Bill just sighed. "Well, I don't have anything for you to do. Does Wilson?"
"Nah he's sick of me too." I said and sat down and the desk that I have slowly taken over. I mean the dude's got a pretty big workspace just to himself so there are multiple desks.
Bill took a sip of the coffee I got for him. "Need help with school work?" He offered.
I just stared at him. Now Bill and I are, you know, friendly with each other. I'm like some of the only social interaction the man gets on some days but like normally we just shoot a few sarcastic comments at each other and he tells me to go off and fix something somewhere. But like I'm a teenager and he's like older than House. Sure I'm a bit curious how a Scottish IT Guy ended up at PPTH but I've been too busy to ask around. "How slow has it been?" I asked.
"Slow enough I've been debating calling my Ex." He complained.
I blinked. Ex? Bill is just telling me about himself? What? I sat up a little. "I mean I know I'm only 16 but like that's probably not a great idea?" I said.
"Eh it wouldn't go anywhere anyway she's in London last I heard." Bill said.
Okay, now I'm curious. "So like-" I started but was cut off by my phone. "Uh, one sec."
Warning on the way to PPTH w Ivy. Found out about ur Uncle. Can hold off 4 bit.
DL
My face fell. Ah great. I don't really want to deal with this right now. House and Wilson still haven't caught on to the fact that I should probably have a bunch of money. Or if they have they haven't mentioned it.
"Who found out about what?" Bill asked.
I looked up. "What?"
"You're not that hard to read Blue Jay." He said.
"My friends found out something about my family and are on their way here." I said.
"House?" He asked.
"No something on my Mom's side it's complicated." I said.
"Try me." Bill said.
I texted back that I was at IT but to take their time. "Right so you know how I go to Princeton Prep?" I said.
Bill nodded.
"Right so I'm there on an academic scholarship. The reason I applied was because you know stuff with House being my Father." I said.
Bill was going to ask a question about that but I stopped him. "Look I don't have time to go into that." I huffed. "Anyway my Uncle was a pretty famous musical actor that died in a helicopter crash a while back. When he died his money went to my Mom. And when my Mom died the logical conclusion would be that I would inherit that money. So I assume my friend Ivy is about to tear me a new one for acting all weird about rich people when I'm probably rich." I explained.
Bill just stared at me for a moment. "Jay what your friends think about you having money or not is not that big of a problem."
Oh, he's right actually. This is like the least of my problems. "That's uh pretty helpful." I mumbled.
"I can be sometimes." Bill said. He stood up and threw away the empty coffee cup. "How long until they get here?"
"Well assuming Ivy's driving not long." I sighed.
Bill raised an eyebrow. "Fast driver?"
"From what I've heard." I said.
"Well good luck." Bill said while making his way to the door.
"Wait hold up you leaving me?" I asked.
"As much as I'd love to stay and hear about your high school drama I'm needed in one of the lecture halls. Don't forget to lock up when you leave" Bill said and left me alone.
This is going to be great.
10 minutes later Ivy smashed through the door with Dunc mouthing a Sorry shortly behind. "You failed to mention who your Uncle was." She said.
I looked up from my history textbook. "You never asked."
"Lestrade knew!" Ivy exclaimed.
"Wilson mentioned it to him. Not that I wanted him to." I said.
"Here you are this whole time with this 'Oh I'm not Rich Superiority Complex' when in reality you're probably richer than the both of our families combined." Ivy ranted.
I slammed the history textbook on the desk and stood up. "Look Ivy. There's a lot of reasons why I don't like talking about this but if you really want me to go into it I will." I said.
"Explain yourself." Ivy said now in my face.
"Now obviously even if I do have a bunch of money which I mentioned to Dunc I'm not even entirely sure I do. I'd much rather have my Uncle or Mother instead. Connor's money was always a sore subject for my Mom because her being a Single Mom with lots of student loans she had to come to him for help. She never wanted to. Mom was going to pay him back even though Connor said it was unnecessary but then he died and she got all of his money. Mom never touched it. I know she thought about donating it but she was so busy and never had the time to figure out what to do with it. I grew up middle class. The idea of having a lot of money is foreign to me." I explained.
The two of them stood there for a while. No one wanting to break the silence. "Look I'm sorry for misleading you two I just don't know how to handle these things very well." I said.
"Right well how about we all get something to eat." Dunc said.
"I guess that sounds like a plan." Ivy said.
I was about to say I'm still volunteering but Bill walked in. "Ah are these your two friends?" He asked.
"Uh yeah. Duncan Lestrade and Ivy Adler." I said.
"Bill Baxter. I really don't have anything for you to do Jay. You should go have fun with your friends. You won't be a teenager for much longer." He said.
"I uh but-" I started.
"No buts get out." He said.
"Right okay I guess we will get something to eat then." I said.
~~~
I was having trouble making eye contact with Thirteen. We've already done the more invasive parts of the physical but I'm just uncomfortable anyway. We're just in the middle of the questions now.
"Smoke?" She asked.
"No." I said.
"Drink." She asked.
"No." I said.
"Sexually Active?" She asked.
"No." I said.
"Thoughts of harming yourself or others?" She asked.
I paused. Technically no I haven't gotten that far yet but… "No."
Thirteen looked at me clearly noticing my hesitation. "Jay you can be honest with me. You've lost a parent it's not unusual to be experiencing-" She started.
"I'm fine." I said looking at her.
"Wilson told me he's worried." She said.
Of course, he did. I crossed my arms. "He worries about everything. Dude's not even my Dad." I said.
"If you need to talk to someone Jay you can. Doesn't matter who but I'd recommend maybe avoiding House." She said.
Yeah, House probably wouldn't be the best person to talk to.
"Can we move on?" I sighed.
She looked at me for a moment before continuing. "Do you feel unsafe at home?" She asked.
"No." I said.
~~~
After Cheerleading practice Ivy decided to drag me to the mall for Christmas shopping. Seeing as I'm still trying to figure out a present for House , I reluctantly agreed. "This is it?" I asked once we were in the Mall.
Ivy gave me a weird look as we went down the escalator. "Yes?"
"Kinda small." I said with a shrug.
"Aren't you from the Midwest? Malls must be tiny there?" She said.
"Ah well, fun fact about Minnesota is that we were the first State to have a fully enclosed indoor Mall. On top of that, I was a short drive away from The Mall of America so I was a little spoiled." I explained.
"Why do you know such random shit?" Ivy asked as we wandered into some clothing store.
"Dunno. I have a pretty good memory but like I don't really get to choose what I remember." I said.
"So your brain thinks random facts about Malls in Minnesota is important?" She questioned.
"I guess. On the bright side, I'm pretty good at trivia." I said.
Ivy just rolled her eyes. "Anyway. You have feelings for Lestrade?" She asked suddenly.
I froze just holding a random shoe in my hand. "What kind of feelings?" I played dumb.
Ivy was unamused with my attempt at playing dumb. "It's fairly obvious you have a crush on him."
"I don't know what you're talking about." I lied while setting the shoe down.
"I'm pretty positive he feels the same way." Ivy continued.
"Ha someone having a crush on me? Funny." I joked.
Ivy just rolled her eyes. "Not like you'd ever be the one to make the first move anyway."
"I know that's a sound analysis but it still hurts a little." I huffed.
"Right well you figure out a gift for House yet?" She asked.
"No. We should probably pop in the music store." I said.
"Sounds like a plan." Ivy said.
Thankfully I finally found the perfect thing at the music store.
~~~
I never really mentioned it to House or Wilson but I do enjoy Christmas quite a bit. It's not my favorite holiday. Halloween is that but I don't know there's something about it. It is a bit more somber for me personally this year because it's the first Christmas without my Mom but I'm trying to ignore that fact. So on Christmas Eve, I made my way to PPTH to drop off my presents I got for Kutner, Thirteen, Taub, Foreman, Cuddy, Chase, and of course Bill. I was humming to the Christmas songs on my iPod as I made my way to my first stop, Dr. Cuddy.
Now I know that Cuddy, Taub, and Wilson are Jewish but they all seem to be mostly non practicing for the most part. And I don't think anyone can really argue with receiving a gift right?
I took out my earbuds and knocked on the door. "Come in." Cuddy said.
"Hey." I said while walking up to her desk.
"Oh, Jay I wasn't expecting you. Nice hat." She said.
Yeah, I decided to wear my Santa hat today seeing as I'm dropping off a bunch of gifts. "Thanks! I'm just dropping off a quick gift." I said and pulled the present out of my backpack. Normally I wear my messenger bag to PPTH but I needed a bigger bag… I set the present on her desk.
"Oh wow! I didn't know you were getting anything." She said.
"Uh, no need to get me anything. I just like to give people gifts on Christmas you know. Besides you've been really nice to me and you definitely didn't have to." I said while rubbing the back of my neck.
"You know it really is a wonder how you're related to House sometimes." She joked.
"I'm a prime example of nature vs nurture." I joked back. "I need to get going though I got more people to get to." I said.
"How many people did you get gifts for?" She asked.
"Uhhh… besides House, Wilson, and my friends. Seven people?" I said while counting on my fingers.
"That's a lot." She said looking surprised.
"I guess it is. Isn't it." I said before leaving.
Next on my list is Chase. Hopefully, he's not in the middle of surgery right now.
I found him on his way out of an OR on his way to get some food. "Chase!" I called.
"Oh hey there Blue Jay." He said.
"Not gonna take up too much of your time but I got you a small thing for Christmas." I said and handed Chase the present.
"Never thought I'd see the day I'd get a Christmas present from a House." He joked.
"I mean my last name is technically Flynn but sure." I said.
"Well, thanks Jay." He said.
"Yeah, no problem dude." I said with a thumbs up before running off down the hallway.
I went into IT with You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch blaring from my iPod. Or a least as much as an iPod could. "You're A Mean One Mr. Baxter" I sang along as a joke.
Bill looked at me with an eyebrow raised. "Didn't realize you thought of me that way Mr. Flynn." He said.
"Sorry, it's my favorite Christmas song." I said with a shrug.
"That's your favorite Christmas song?" He asked.
"What can I say? It's a bop." I said.
Bill rolled his eyes. "Why are you here anyway? It's your Christmas break and I would love to not be working." He asked.
"Ah well, you see." I said and pulled out the present. "I have this for you."
"Oh." Bill said.
"Yeah think fast." I said and threw it at him.
Bill caught the present with no hesitation. "I never really took you as the gifting type." He said.
"Well, I always love to subvert expectations." I said and did a curtsy. "Anyway, I have one more stop so bye." I said and waved Bill off.
~~~
Thankfully House's Team was all there. They were doing a differential diagnosis so it makes sense that they would be. I walked in quietly trying to not interrupt. Also because seeing a real differential diagnosis live would be pretty cool.
All of them did take note of me walking in but kept shooting off ideas anyway. House shot most of them down for various reasons. "Do you four really have nothing better than that? I bet Jay could come up with something better and he's only sitting in on medical classes." House ranted at them before turning to me.
All of them were now staring at me.
I looked blankly at House. "You actually want a suggestion?" I asked.
He waved his hand in front of the whiteboard.
I set down my backpack and walked up to the whiteboard to take a better look. "Legionnaires' Disease." I said with a shrug not really sure what to suggest.
The five of them stayed quiet for a moment. "Look I'm in High School I don't really know what I'm talking about." I said softly.
"Kutner and Foreman check the workplace. Thirteen and Taub start him on antibiotics." House said.
The four of them started to get up to leave. "Oh wait! Before you leave. I have Christmas presents for you guys." I said awkwardly.
"You didn't come to show us up?" Taub said.
"N-no?" I said while scrambling to my backpack to get the presents. "Right uh here's Taub's." I said and handed it to him.
He nodded and took it.
"Foreman." I said.
"We've barely talked." He said while taking the present.
"I mean it would be rude to show up here with gifts for everyone but you." I said.
"Thirteen. Thanks for the physical." I said whispering the last part.
"No problem Jay." She said.
Taub and Thirteen left to tend to the patient and Foreman went to wait for Kutner outside. "Last but not least." I said handing Kutner his present.
"You're still on for Star Trek the day after Christmas right?" He asked and walked over to another part of the room.
"I mean yeah." I said.
"Great! Here." He said and handed me a gift back.
"Oh!" I said.
"What not expecting one?" He said.
"I mean you're the first person to give me one in return so yes?" I said.
"Oh… Well, you're a pretty cool kid. Besides you need that." He said while tapping the present he got me.
"Well you don't need what I got you but I hope you like it." I said with a smile.
"I sure I will. I better get going before House notices I'm still here." Kutner said and left.
I tucked Kutner's present in my backpack and glanced at House's office. I can only hope that he'll like what I got him.
~~~
"You know I swear we had more eggnog." Wilson said.
"Yeah weird." I said like I totally didn't drink quite a bit. House found out but he didn't care. Only Wilson is in the dark.
"Maybe you drank more than you thought." House said.
Nice cover House…
Wilson glared at him.
I bounced up to a standing position on the couch. "Right we're doing presents now. I've been waiting far too long with you two being at work all day." I said pointing at House and Wilson.
"You could've just opened them." House said making his way to the couch.
"Actually no. It's my first Christmas with you two so we're doing this at least once." I said.
And the first Christmas without Mom.
Wilson chuckled and grabbed his gift for me and threw it in my lap. "Go wild."
"For Blue Jay, you've been needing a new one of these. Love Wilson." I read the tag before opening.
My eyes lit up at the new binder. "How do you know my size?" I asked.
"He checked your laundry." House said.
"Oh. That's pretty obvious I guess." I said. "Thank you so much Wilson." I said and hugged him.
Wilson was a little surprised by the hug. Then again he doesn't know I'm buzzed so you know. "Okay, so you have to open mine for you now." I said and handed him the present.
Wilson read the tag with a small smile. "Is this?" He asked after opening the present.
"Yes! Uncle Connor gave me a lot of props from the musicals he was in. You're more into that stuff so." I said.
"That's probably worth some money." House said.
"Yeah." Wilson said wide-eyed.
I laughed. "I'm glad you like it. Here House." I said and threw him his gift.
He caught it. "Very light."
I shrugged.
House opened the present. It's a flaming guitar strap. "To match your cane." I said with a smirk.
Wilson chuckled which made me lose my composure and start laughing too.
He got up and put the strap on one of his guitars. "Bitchin." He said.
Wilson and I laughed harder.
House sat back down on the couch this time strumming some Christmas songs. He slid me a large envelope. "Here Kid."
"You got me a massive card?" I joked.
House kept playing the guitar.
I opened it. Looks like some sort of legal documents. "Is this?" I asked.
House stopped playing. "Wilson asked your friends what you wanted. Told them you said you hated how you were constantly getting outed by your last name. Even joked that you'd like a name change for Christmas." He said.
"And you're fine with it?" I asked.
He shrugged. "You're my son. Jay House makes sense."
I bit my lip. Wow okay, Jay don't cry. That eggnog definitely didn't seem like a great idea now.
House got up and put the guitar back. Once it was back I ran up and hugged him."Thanks… Dad." I said."
"Oh okay. You're definitely not getting eggnog next year." House said.
"You gave him WHAT!" Wilson exclaimed.
"Wilson we're having a moment." I whined.
"I didn't give it to him. I walked in on Jay drinking the rest of the Eggnog." House said and pulled me off of him.
Wilson pinched the bridge of his nose. "So you just covered for him?"
"He's 16." House said with a shrug.
"House not only is the drinking age 21 but he's a minor." Wilson said.
I listened to the two of them argue while I opened Kutner's present. "Oh, dope." I said.
They turned to me. "Who's that from?" Wilson asked.
"Kutner." I said and balanced the Star Trek The Next Generation DVD Box Set on my head.
Wilson just sighed.
"Oh! I should text him thanks!" I said and ran off to grab my phone in my room.
Thank 4 Sar Trek I"v ben wantin it

30 Minute Experiment: Work #30ME
So I’ve already gone through a couple Pink Floyd titles and one from The Cult, so I might as well start working my way through The Godfathers’ Birth School Work Death in terms of topics for this 30 Minute Experiment. (For anyone just joining, the idea is that I pick a topic and write about it for 30 minutes straight, without interruptions. When the time is up, I post. No edits, no re-reads, probably many regrets.) Okay, let’s do this...
It will surprise absolutely no one that I’m a bit of a workaholic and I’ve been one for most of my life. I think my first job must have been when I was 14 or 15 or so when I got a bicycle and started delivering newspaper, a job that I quite liked because it was a quiet suburban neighborhood in Westport where not a lot happened. (I do remember one day being flashed by an older woman who came to the door wearing absolutely nothing not realizing I was on the other side leaving her newspaper.)
One of the weird things going on in this pandemic is that after losing a writing gig I had just started, it gets harder and harder to push myself to do the much-needed work I have to do, whether it’s doing these #30Mes or writing my weekly Weekend Warrior column or cleaning or working on some of my long dormant screenplays or even writing to my imprisoned penpal (who I just got a letter from so I need to get back to him fairly soon.)
At a certain point, everything seems like work, even if it’s just scheduling time to hang out on Zoom with friends or family, which is something I did far less of in the days pre-pandemic (Can we maybe start a new numbering system so that 2020 is Year One and every year that follows would be 1 Post-Pandemic for 2021, etc? It feels suitable.)
But this whole time and even over the past four years I’ve been spending a lot of time trying to find some form of steady work, and sadly, things were so unstable pre-pandemic that it’s only gotten harder as more of my movie-writing colleagues are losing jobs and there are far more opportunities. I mean, anyone who reads my Weekend Warrior every week (or EVER!) will know that there are still movies being released, even if not all of them are getting any kind of theatrical release. Some of them are even quite good.
I was talking to one of my colleagues last night about the work situation and how everything just came to a stop in March when most of us had things planned or in the works, which unfortunately revolved mostly around movies.
But the current situation has become a great equalizer in terms of people needing to cover a lot more smaller indie movies, TV series and streaming stuff if they want to keep their jobs. I’m pretty sure that the job market is going to look very different in a few months as the country starts slowly reopening, and I think the people who don’t want to do the actual work like going to see movies and having varied tastes, won’t survive. They’ll just give up and go take one of those regular 9 to 5 desk jobs that are out there.
Believe me, I’ve been ready to make that transition for a couple years as I lost a lot of freelance outlets, some being closed, others just going in a different direction. It’s tough out there, and it’s really hard for me to take any sort of dog-eat-dog mentality when it comes to work, because I don’t like seeing my friends struggling. That hurts me almost as much as my own struggle (which I’m happy to say has taken an interesting and slightly positive turn this week).
Sure, I’m definitely ready to be done with this and to get back to work, even though it’s been some time since I’ve had any steady work hours -- probably the Tracking Board where I was doing a 9 to 5 shift five days a week -- and I’m going to have to get back into some of the good working habits. I already try to go to sleep at a reasonable hour and don’t stay up past midnight playing video games (or Android games) or doing some of the other distractions that would keep anyone else from getting work done.
I mean, if you read today’s Weekend Warrior, you’ll see that I spent a lot of time watching and writing about a bunch of movies just so that people will have some idea that there is good movie entertainment still coming their way which hopefully they’ll look into it. I don’t want to too far down the tangential wormhole of the movie biz right -- I’ll have plenty of time to talk about that over the next few months -- but the pandemic equalizer that I mentioned hasn’t really helped the smaller indie movies as I’d hoped since people still would rather throw on Netflix or Hulu or HBO and binge watch some show or another.
I have a LOT of stuff that I’ve been meaning to watch but my desire to keep my brain in gear and stay motivated in terms of my writing has led to things like this experiment, which I’ve done a pretty good job keeping up with. If I really look at this to see how it helps me in terms of earning a living, I think I can say fairly that it’s a daily job that forces me to think and write quickly, which is something that’s important for most of the better writing jobs out there. And it only takes 30 minutes a day, so it’s not like it’s taking me away from any of the time-wasting activities I’d love to do instead.
Sure, I’m definitely trying to use this time productively even if the “work” I’m doing doesn’t do much to help me financially, although I will say that doing this stuff helps me both mentally and emotionally, which is half the battle when you’re dealing with a job and people you have to work with. I learned that the hard way at a few of my recent jobs post-CS, but I’m not going to get into all of that. I believe very strongly that sometimes you just have to do something to maintain your own mental health even when it’s not the best decision on the grand scheme of things.
I do miss having some of the structure of a job in my life even though I feel my calendar is just filling up with other things, even if it’s just doing things to help support my friend’s own mental and emotional health by taking part in their activities. Believe me, as much as the monotony of the day-to-day may have been getting to me a few weeks back, I feel like I’ve moved past that, and now I’m so focused and disciplined about getting things done, who knows? Maybe I’ll even have a few screenplays done by the time I’m allowed to go to a movie theater or press screening again.
I can only imagine how much harder this is for my friends and family who have gotten used to going to an office five days a week and have built their entire lives around that structure. Of my immediate family, only my sister and her husband and kids were doing anything in that vein, since both my brother and I have always been homebodies for the most part.
Right now, I’m not sure if I could even deal with going on the subway every day to go to a job, but thankfully, more businesses are figuring out how to stay running while allowing employees to work from home. At least as a writer, I don’t necessarily have to be anywhere, although as I’ve said before, I still prefer to see movies on the big screen... preferably without my own name watermarked across it. (This is done to avoid piracy, obviously, since it can be traced right back to me.)
Although I’m slowly inching towards a point in life where most people are ready to retire, I think I’ll be good to keep working in some capacity or other for at least the next ten years. The down time in between jobs these past few years has made it far easier for me to be thrifty so it’s no like I’m trying to support a ridiculous comic book habit anymore and have less need for consumerism.
I can’t remember if I discussed during the “money” topic but I do feel better when i know i have money just in case I want to do something fun when that’s allowed again. There have been too many times in recent years where I’ve had to decline an invite to go somewhere just because I was worried about how even spending $20 might affect my ability to eat for that week. (Yes, things got that bad!)
I guess we’ll see where things go in the next few months, but I don’t think you’ll meet another person who is more than ready to go to work for 40 to 60 hours a week once again, since I’ve also gotten better at scheduling my time. I mean, it’s still not great but when it comes to working, especially as a writer, I feel that I’m always getting better at facing new challenges, and I do hope some will still come my way.
I have about five minutes left to go in today’s #30ME, and I’m not sure if I have that much more to say about “work” right at this moment, but I do want to say that if you got far into today’s ramble, I hope you’ll drop me a line with some suggestions and opinions. It doesn’t mean I will change what I’m doing since as I’ve said, these are more for me than anyone else, but it would be nice if someone is reading them and maybe it changes their opinion of me (hopefully in a favorable way).
That’s it for me today but I’ll be back tomorrow..maybe talking about the “Birth” or “Death” part of that Godfathers song.

Shawn grins and wraps you in his arms when you arrive. “Hey you’re here! Did you have a chance to check out the condo?” He asks.
“No, I came straight here. I’m feeling inspired.” You grin.
“Ok, awesome. I’m gonna order food and coffee and we can get started in the meantime?” He checks.
“Yeah, Shawn. That’d be great!” You grin, setting your stuff down and pulling out your guitar.
Around week 4 you were enjoying a glass of wine on the balcony from the condo Shawn set you up in. Every song had been about Luke.
You always saw him in everything. The blue in the sky matching the color of his eyes, blankets weren’t as warm when they didn’t smell like him, clothes not as comfy if they didn’t feel like him.
So you pick up the phone, staring at it, and then looking back at the night sky. You decide on it, scroll the contacts and click on Luke’s name.
“Baby?” Luke asks, after only 2 rings.
“Hey handsome.” You let out a sigh. “Sorry to call so late.” You take a sip and look down at the ground. “Just… we were writing and I… I was thinking about you. I miss you.”
“You can call anytime baby, you know that. I miss you too though.” He admits.
“Luke… are we gonna be ok?” You ask, looking back out at the night sky.
“You staring at the sky?” He asks, passing over your question. ‘Mmmhmmm’ you hum. “Red or white?”
“Red.” You say, wondering what he’s getting at.
“I think we’re gonna be good babe. We’re staring at the same sky, drinking the same color wine, thinking about each other.” He says quietly.
“I really miss you.” You whisper.
“I can be there baby.” He whispers back. “I can get on a plane in the morning.”
“Don’t you have a thing.” It wasn’t a question, because you knew. You could access his schedule, you shared a calendar.
“Everything can be moved, babe, that’s not even that important. You though, being there for you… that’s important.” He argues.
“I’d like to see you.” You mention. “If you can?”
He hears the loneliness, it tugs at his heart. It makes him ache too. He missed you, but he was resigned to think that was only him, and to hear it wasn’t, to hear that you wanted him too, you missed him like crazy, he wanted the next flight. Whether it was 15 minutes away or 15 hours.
He knew he was being rash. He couldn’t catch the exact next flight. He’d need to reschedule what he had.
“Yeah baby. What if I come up for the weekend? I could come in… like Thursday night probably?” He asks.
“Really Luke? You’d do that?”
“You know i'd do anything for you, angel.”
“I love you Luke.” You say quietly.
“I love you.” He responds, just as quietly.
And then you guys just sit quietly, on the phone together for a while. At least a good 30 minutes, just listening to each other breathe.
You finish your glass of wine and look at the sky one more time.
“I’m exhausted Luke. I think I’m gonna head to bed. I hope I get to see you this weekend.”
“Have I ever let you down, my love? I’ll see you Thursday.”
You grin and bite your lip. You were ecstatic to see Luke, to let him hold you. “Mmm kay babe, I love you. I’ll see you then.”
“See you then, my love.”
You put your wine glass in the sink and cork the bottle of wine you’d opened. You take your rings off to wash your face and brush your teeth. And as your standing there, you stare down at them, and then pick up the engagement ring.
Luke had been strangely giggly that whole day, and he couldn’t keep his hands off of you. You’d spent the day at home, so it didn’t really matter, but he was touching you whenever he could.
You’d agreed to a mid afternoon nap with him in bed, and you were laying with your head on his chest. He played with your fingers.
“I wanna ask you something.” He'd said.
You looked up at him and smiled, “you can ask me anything, ask away.”
He reached over, pulling the drawer open on the nightstand, and grabbed something, closing it in his large hand, before knocking the drawer closed with the back of his hand.
“I love you.” He rubbed your back with his other hand. “I can’t imagine my life without you. I want you around forever.” He sighed. “And I wanted this to be a big gesture and super romantic, but I’m feeling it today.” He opened his hand, and set the box on his chest.
You sit up on your knees and looked at him a little panicked. “Luke.”
“Marry me?” He asked. You held your hands over your face as you started to cry. “Baby?”
“Yes Luke, of course.” You agreed.
He slipped the ring on your finger and pulled you close to him, kissing you. And it turned into an afternoon of sex, or making love, and a night of giggles and sweet kisses.
You smile to yourself. You missed the early days of you and Luke. You knew, deep down everything was still there, but you just hadn’t put in the effort. Neither of you had.
So Thursday couldn’t come soon enough and Shawn could tell you were a bit distracted. He wasn’t all in on Luke coming to visit, but you reminded him he’d already wanted Friday off.
You were texting Luke, you knew he had to be mid flight, but you couldn’t wait to get him here, to be kissing him, wrapped up in his arms.
You wanted to get him into bed, if you were honest. You always saw eye to eye in bed.
Shawn had different plans, as you waited. He showed up with a bottle of wine. He’d managed to get his shirt off halfway through, and sure, Shawn had a nice body that he worked hard for, but you were more than happy with Luke and his being a little soft around the middle, you loved it actually.
And Luke has some timing because Shawn pulls you in for a kiss as Luke is walking in the door. You push him off. “Shawn, what the…?”
“Uhh, what’s going on in here?” Luke asks, dropping his bag.
“Luke!” You turn and pull out of Shawn’s grip to go to him. Luke happily accepts you in his arms and he holds you a tight. You look up at him, “he kissed me, I swear.”
“I know what I saw babe.” He says quietly, nodding. His hand cups your face and he kisses you hard and deep, lots of tongue and he’s kissing you the loudest he could. “Missed you baby.” He says loudly. “Hi Shawn. Thanks for having Friday off. But I think we’re gonna want some alone time.” He holds onto you tightly.
Shawn rolls his eyes but pulls his shirt back on and he leaves.
“I’m really happy to see you Luke. I’ve been thinking about you so much lately.” You mumble against his chest.
“Our house feels so empty without you.” He pouts. “I’ve missed you, I miss you next to me. When you called the other night… I can’t tell you how much I needed that.”
You push yourself against Luke’s chest and hold him tight. “I need you Luke.” You whisper.
He kisses the top of your head, “hasn’t felt that way.” He whispers.
“I know. Same could be said for you.” You mention.
“I know.” He agrees. “I love you…. now come make out with me, and I’ll love on you in the morning.” He coaxes, pulling you to the couch.
Luke is all smiles in the morning. Even with you riding him, all smiles and giggles around the moans. His fingers don’t grip as tightly as they had been, and it didn’t seem to be just about the sex like it’d become, it was about being close, as close to you as physically possible.
“Come here, I’m gonna cum.” Luke says quietly, pulling you down to kiss him.
The entire weekend went like that, hands on, sweet kisses, hand holding; all over the city, pap pictures, fan pictures, bottles of wine on the terrace, naked nights, morning sex, afternoon sex that flowed into naps, sex before bed that turned into cuddles and sweet talk.
You actually cried when Luke had to leave. You felt so close to him and you didn’t want him to go, but he needed to get back to the new album and you understood that.
“Love you baby.” He whispers into the top of your head, standing at the door.
“Love you Luke. Just a couple more weeks.” You mumble into his chest.
“Then come home to me, and we’ll keep working on this.” He pulls away enough to kiss you deep. “I gotta go.” He groans, squeezing you tight and kissing you one last time.
Shawn made the next few days stressful, he wanted to talk about Luke’s visit and he insisted on reminding you of all the things you’d complained to him about on wine nights or over dinner or drinks over the last couple years.
He liked to bring up the times you thought Luke was being clingy, or that he always put his music first, or the guys. That he never quit talking about having kids.
But looking back, Luke was just trying to be supportive and show you he cared, and of course he put music first, so did you and that was understood when you got together. And he’s always been straight with you about wanting kids. So you couldn’t fault him.
Ultimately, you were ready to go home. And once you were done, you left early.
You expect Luke to be gone, it’s not even noon when you arrive home, oddly Ms. P was gone, and it didn’t look like Luke had even slept at home.
You don’t think much more of it, he probably crashed at one of the guys, sometimes he did that even when you were home. So, you do some laundry and watch TV, take a nap. There wasn’t much in the way of food in the house so you end up at the grocery store, though inevitably you’ll order in.
You’re in the liquor section picking up more wine, it seemed like Luke had burned through quite a bit when you were gone, which was unusual, it wasn’t usually his drink of choice. But, you run into Cal.
“Hey you.” Cal says, standing at the other end of the cart.
“Hey Cal.” You smile. He comes over and hugs you. “How’re you? How’s the album coming?”
“Oh, we haven’t really started it.” He gives you a weird, but surprised look, he’s surprised you don’t know this. “Luke and Ash have both been working on some other things. Luke’s outta town with Sierra right now, they’re writing together for her new album. I thought you knew that…”
