Raj: “Fine, if you want something to do, there’s about six months of data on this hard drive. Why don’t you go through it and see if you can spot any patterns or anomalies?” Sheldon: “Yep! I’m on it!” Raj: “Yeah, whatever it takes to keep you busy for a few hours.” Sheldon: “Found one!” Raj: “No you didn’t. There are millions of data points there!” Sheldon: “But, look, an optical transient.” Raj: “Yeah, maybe that is something. How did you do that?” Sheldon: “It wasn’t difficult. You know how when you see prime numbers, they appear red, but when they’re twin primes, they’re pink and smell like gasoline?” Raj: “No.” Sheldon: “Huh! I guess I’m a special boy! You know, sometimes when a boy is special, he gets a Fudgsicle. Which, by the way, tastes like the speed of light.” The Big Bang Theory Season 9x12 The Sales Call Sublimination

It's About Time

“I’ll pick you two up from here in an hour.” My mom said to me and Missy get out of her car. I had started hanging out with her more since I couldn’t stand to be around Georige since he was dating someone else. From what Mrlowe and I could tell our plan was somewhat working. Jana would give me mean looks in the hallway.
I held open the door for Missy and she skipped into the sporting goods store. “So why are we here? Ohh do you want me to throw a baseball at him?”
“We talked about that already. It’s still no.” I sent her a half glare and the smirk dropped from her face.
Someone came around the corner and stands at the front glass case with the cash register seeing us looking around the sports store. “Can I help you find something?” The man was almost bald with grey hair wearing a green shirt and blue jeans with boots.
“I was just promised ice cream when her mom picks us up.” Missy shrugged her shoulders.
I stepped forward leaning my elbows on the counter top. “Mr. Ballard, I was hoping to see if I could get an after school job here. If you’re hiring of course.”
“I actually am. I’ll give you an application to fill out and bring back to me. The sooner I get it back the sooner I can get you started here, uh..”
“Y/n, Y/n L/n.” I introduced myself where he stuck his hand out shaking mine.
He nodded heading to the backroom coming back with the paperwork before we heard my moms horn honk from outside. “Dale Ballard. Hope to see you on Monday.”
Exiting the sporting store we got back in my moms truck and she drove us back to her house. Missy and I went into her and Sheldon’s room so she could grab her baseball glove. “Are you sure I can’t throw a ball at my brother for you?”
“Missy!” I scolded her.
She shrugged her shoulders, tossing me a ball so I could throw some hits at her. “I’m just saying it might work.”
“I already have my plan in motion.” I raised my hand back, throwing it at her.
She caught the baseball in her glove. “Okay.”
The front door opened where I dare to turn my head and see Georgie walking out with his car keys in his hands until he paused in his steps. “What are you two doing out here?”
“Just baseball.” I answered him clutching the glove I was wearing. “What are you doing?”
He shrugged his shoulders. “Gonna go hang out with Jana.”
“Oh! That’s great.” I bared my teeth hearing that name.
He nodded, tossing his keys from one hand to the other for a few seconds before he saw me not saying anything more. “Well I’ll uh see you around.”
“Yeah see ya, Cooper.” I clicked my tongue and he got in his car driving off while I kicked the grass with my shoes.
Missy called my attention back to her. “Y/n, why can’t you just hang out with my brother like you used to?”
“It’s kind of hard to explain except this way. Being a grown up sucks. So enjoy the years of being a kid.” I said back to her with a gentle smile thinking back on when things were easier between me and her older brother.
Georgie and I were watching Ducktales on the tv in the living room laying on the couch. Missy came in from the kitchen with a red notebook in her right hand. “Can you two help me with my homework?”
“You’re asking me. I don’t understand my own homework.” Georgie asked her muting the tv with the remote.
Missy admitted. “Yeah but you’re all I got.”
“What kind of homework is it, Missy?” I asked the young girl.
She held up the book away from her chest. “Grammar.”
“I ain’t great with grammar.”
I shifted sitting up on the couch giving my best friend a sympathetic look to help his sister. “Georgie, come on. At least give it a shot.”
“Grammar is just talkin’ and we talk good.” Missy sat down on the other side of her brother so the three of us were sitting upright on the couch before she handed him the book. “There’s a list of sentences and you’re supposed to say if each one’s a complete sentence or not.”
Georgie eyed the book, shutting it after reading the pages for a few seconds. “I don’t think I can help you.” He hands it back to his sister.
Missy started walking back to the kitchen but turned around with a frown. “Do you think we’re stupid?”
“Sheldon’s in high school at nine years old and we can’t figure out your homework. What do you think?” Georgie sighed heavily unmuting the tv until I snatched the remote from his hand. “Y/n!”
I sent him a glare keeping the remote away from his grasp. “Try and help her. Then you'll get this hack.”
“Sometimes I tell myself I only look stupid because he’s so smart.” Missy responded to her brother where he finally answered her.
“Give me the book.” She sat down handing it to him. “So the first one on your homework is most people in the country.”
“I don’t see an action word. Georgie , I don’t think this is a sentence.” Missy paused reading over it.
He hands her the pencil and her book. “Put a verb in there, girl.”
The next day Georgie and I were laying on his bed playing Uno until a piece of paper slipped underneath his shut bedroom door. He got up from the bed unfolding the paper where I asked him, seeing him grinning ear to ear. “What does it say?”
He turned it around to show me that the paper read 100% written in red marker with a smiley face. “That’s amazing, bestie!”
“Did you cry when you saw it?” Missy’s voice came from the other side of the door.
Georgie grumbled back. “No. Cause it ain’t that big a deal.”
“Shut up. It is such a big deal.” I jumped up from my seat on the bed.
My best friend noticed it was me and smiled with a grin directly back at me. “Hi Y/n. Looks like we'll be working together.”
Georgie whispered under his breath. “Be quiet, Y/n.” He went over using one of his pins to pin it on his board on his wall.
“Did you hang it on your wall?” Missy piped in again.
Georgie snapped at her. “Get out of here!”
“I’m telling people you cried.” Missy teased him and I heard her shoes hitting the floor as she walked to her bedroom.
I clasped my hands over my mouth trying to contain my laughter causing Georgie to come walking over to me. “Come here you little tease.”
“Ah no.” I screamed crawling off the bed but he managed to grab one of my ankles holding me on the bed.
Georgie grinned down at me with me underneath his body. “You ain’t going anywhere now.”
“Georgie!” I squealed when he moved his hands over my body to the spots where I was ticklish and I started giggling at the top of my lungs.
He chuckled, raising his hands over my stomach letting me catch my breath. “Have you quit making this a big deal?”
“Yes - for now.” I grabbed his right arm and flipped him onto his back where I was on top of him now. He stared up at me for a few minutes, shocked that I had just done that to him.
“You better not tell anyone this just happened.”
I chuckled climbing off of him and he sat up on the bed next to me. “Don’t worry, Cooper. Scar code.”
“Scar code.” He bumped his scar with mine and we both grinned back at the other.
The front door to Mr. Ballard’s store opened where he was reading over the application I had filled out for him. He held out his hand and we shook on it before he turned to see we had a new customer. “Everything looks good here. Welcome to the sports salman's department. Oh I’ll help this person out.”
“Excuse me. Are you Mr. Ballard?” I stand behind the counter hearing a familiar voice.
Ballard answered. “That’d be me.”
“I’m Georgie. Connie Tucker’s grandson.”
Ballard eyed his hair. “Oh yeah the hair. Very pretty.”
“I was wondering if I could maybe apply for a job here.”
I bolted around the glass countertop and into the back room for the employees. Slamming the door behind me I put my hands against the door screaming lightly under my breath. “Ahhh! You’ve got to be kidding me.”
“I actually just hired a girl that looks to be your age. You two could tag team working the store for me.” Ballard explains where I cracked the door open deciding that I had to face him.
Georgie asked before I came around the corner very slowly. “Oh cool. What’s her name?”
“Hey Georgie.” I nervously waved at him.
Comments really appreciated ❤️

The troubles plaguing Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage take a backseat in Episode 2 of the Young Sheldon spinoff, which sees Sheldon’s older brother struggle with his newfound responsibilities in the wake of George Sr.’s untimely demise.
The episode kicks off with Georgie visiting his father’s grave. He assures Dad that he’s handling things just fine in his absence — but soon after, we see that the pressures of being a husband, a father, a brother and a son-in-law are eating at him. At one point, after a fight with Mandy, Georgie hops in his truck — longtime viewers will notice that he has inherited George Sr.’s Ford F-150 — and drives himself to the emergency room. He fears he’s having a heart attack, but it turns out that he’s suffering from anxiety — a diagnosis that he is quick to scoff off as “some New York nonsense.”
Later on, Georgie takes Missy to visit Dad at the cemetery. She’s recently been suspended from school, she may or may not be smoking weed, and if she’s not going to confide in Mary, Georgie would like his troubled teen sister to talk to their father. He affords her some privacy, at which point she tells Sr. just how hard it has been since he died and Sheldon moved away. As the episode draws to a close, she is crying in the passenger’s side of her dead father’s car.
Tumblr media
In Part 3 of our video Q&A — watch Part 1 and Part 2 — series star Montana Jordan (aka Georgie) tells TVLine that the fallout from George Sr.’s passing, and the ensuing Cooper family drama, all will come to a head when the McAllisters host the Cooper clan for Thanksgiving in Episode 5. In the meantime, he says, “I think Georgie is doing a hell of a job with the way he’s handling it. I really do.” Georgie will continue to visit his father throughout Season 1 — and who knows? “I’m sure there will be some type of throwback or something,” Jordan says of a possible Lance Barber cameo. “Or he might come in as a ghost or something. You never know!”
Below, series co-creator Steve Holland dives even deeper into what plagues Georgie in Episode 2, and how the spinoff intends to fill in the gap of Mary and Missy’s lives between Young Sheldon (which ends in 1994) and The Big Bang Theory (which picks up 13 years later, in 2007).
Tumblr media
TVLINE | We see how Georgie is juggling the demands of being a husband, a father, a brother, a son-in-law, and all while mourning the loss of George Sr. While I know that this is a direct continuation of Young Sheldon, I also couldn’t help but connect all of this back to Big Bang — particularly the episode where Georgie (played by Jerry O’Connell) confronted Sheldon about what life was like after Dad died. Was that something you had in mind when shaping this spinoff? HOLLAND | There were all of these extra little shadings that just gave these characters so much more depth, and so much more to play with, going into it. Our thought, even going back to multi-cam, is that this doesn’t have to be a bright, shiny multi-cam. This can have some depth and weight to it. We’ve earned it with these characters. We’re in this incredible position of having these characters that people already have a relationship with, and that we have fleshed out over seven years, that we get to bring to this, and it just felt like, “Why shy away from more real things?” That it plays into Big Bang canon is great. That we know that Georgie has to take care of his mom and his sister after his dad died seemed like all this great, rich, real-life stuff to deal with, and there was no reason to run away from that. The show is very positive and full of love — it’s not a dark and heavy show — but there are real emotions…. Even if you’ve never seen Young Sheldon, I think you can relate to what it means for [Georgie] to be in that position. I don’t think it’s shutting anybody out of the world – but if you are familiar with Young Shelton, it adds a whole other layer.
TVLINE | As a 19-year-old in 1990s Texas, I doubt that Georgie will ever seek out professional help. Is talking to George Sr. as close as he is ever going come to therapy? I think you actually hit it right on the head. When we were talking about this episode, and all of the things that have been piled on top of this young kid — with a wife and a family and in-laws… and a job… and his mom and his sister… and the loss of his dad — we were talking about those things as a Texas guy in the ’80s and ’90s, right? He wasn’t going to admit that he was struggling, he wasn’t going to admit that he needed help, and he wasn’t going to go seek therapy, so getting to go and talk to his dad, and getting to admit that he was struggling in a way that he couldn’t really admit to anyone else, felt like the therapy that he needed, and that that was enough to sort of get him moving forward.
Tumblr media
TVLINE | We previously spoke about where we left things Mary and Missy in the Young Sheldon finale. We see in Episode 2 of Georgie & Mandy that Missy is acting out at school, and that she’s a bit of a latchkey kid now that Mary has thrown herself into her religion. Are those storylines that you will continue to explore in the spinoff? Yeah, absolutely. This is the beginning of the pivot from the Young Sheldon Mary towards the Big Bang Mary, you know? I think you’re starting to see that shift. When we’re finding these stories, it’s really about using these [Young Sheldon] characters to inform Georgie and Mandy [storylines]…. We know from Big Bang that Missy ends up OK, so I think we can have some fun with her. Her slide into rebellion as a teenager who just lost her father feels very real, and a thing that her older brother has to deal with now as the father figure of the family.

Young Sheldon OC introduction. ( Don't judge me. I have Asperger's and relate highly to Sheldon's character )
It was a typical Sunday morning. I was woken up by the complaints of my little brother as momma shook him awake, leaving me to drag myself sluggishly out of my own bed.
I pulled on my usual Sunday dress, a light purple with little lace ruffles around the bell-shaped sleeves. Then, my Mary Janes and my typical piggy-tails were next. My favourite bows dawned the top of each one.
My family, after clambering into the crowded minivan, scrambled into the church, momma finding her friends to gossip as they stood outside, my dad finding a pew near Mr. Vince and his buddies. My brother was dropped off at the kids section and I was left alone, next to the Coopers. Again. They had been the talk of the town lately. Georgie apparently knocked up some older girl. It was insane the things people 'round here said about the Coopers because of it. I kinda felt bad.
I turn to see Sheldon. He lived a few houses down from me. I hang around his grandma's video store pretty often. Especially since Missy comes around sometimes. She's in my class with me at school and we hang out a lot. She constantly complains that I'm too much like her brother. Mainly because I watch the shows he does too. Things like Star-Trek, or StarWars. Yoda is my favourite character. Either him or Han Solo, I always liked the rebellious ones.
Missy says 'hi' but she's alot more quiet than usual. Really skittish, too. Must be the rumours that've been flying around. I smile and say 'hi', giving her a hug before I hear my momma gasp, pulling me out of the seat and away from the Coopers. I roll my eyes and follow her, unfortunately sitting across from my friends.
-------------------------
Sheldon's outburst surprised the church, and everyone inside it was silent for the rest of the sermon. I went home, his words curling around my head, momma's too. Everything he said made so much sense. Why did we preach about loving everyone no matter the circumstances but treat the Coopers this way?
I glanced at Momma and frowned. She was such a hypocrite. I spent the rest of that day locked up in my room, reading through my bible. It didn't make any sense to me anymore. I couldn't figure out specifically why, though. Like everything I'd known was suddenly just some story in some old book.
I had to get help. I knew just where to go, too.
-------------------------
I knocked on the Coopers' door. Mrs. Cooper opened it with her usual smile, eyes slightly red, either from anger or crying. I didn't want to find out.
"Is... Is Sheldon here?" I asked, cheeks pink. It must've been awkward,. showing up like this after all that happened yesterday.
"Shelly," Mrs. Cooper called through the house, "That nice girl from down the street's here to see you!"
She welcomed me inside and I was met with a begrudging Sheldon walking down the hall, a look of surprise on his face when he saw me.
"Oh, hello, Maggie." He said, monotone voice ringing through the empty living room.
"Hey, Sheldon. I uh... I need some help." I say, pulling out my bible, "With this. I thought about what you said on Sunday. And I think you have a point. I'm confused. And I need your... sciencey things explained to help."
His face lit up and suddenly I was whisked away to his room, filled with trains and Professor Proton posters, missing the way his mother leaned over to her husband and said,
"Oh George, he's got a friend. Maybe there still are some good people at church."

It's always good to have someone close by at all times. Someone who you know will love and care for you. That someone who knows what to say, even if you didn't ask. Because someday, something really terrible is going to happen, and that's when you'll need your someone.
For Y/N, that day was August 12, 1994. Y/N was 19 when she woke up from her sleep to answer the phone. Her parents owned a small rotary phone that kept its place on the kitchen wall. It was surprising that the girl could hear it from her room.
She sat up in her bed with a loud groan. One at a time, she carefully moved her legs to hang off her bed. When her feet touched the floor, she stood up and began to make her way to the constant ringing coming from the kitchen.
When she reached the phone, she leaned back, stretching her back, and released another loud groan. She pulled the device from off the wall and placed it to her ear. "Hello," she groggily said into the phone.
"Hello, is this Y/M/N or Y/D/N speaking?" the person said from the other side of the phone.
She looked around suspiciously before speaking again. "No, this is their daughter, Y/N. Is there something I can help you with?" Y/N responded back to the person.
"I'm sorry, but your grandmother, Patty, died in her sleep a couple of hours ago," The person said.
At first, Y/N thought it was a prank, but who jokes about someone's grandmother dying. Her body froze as the thought of never seeing my grandmother ran through her mind. Her hands began to shake, threatening to let go of the phone. She began to sob lightly. "Thank you," she said with broken words.
The person sadly said, "I'm sorry for your loss. And I want you to know that you and your family are in our prayers." And with that, they ended the call.
Everyone in the house and probably the neighboring houses heard the teenage girl's sobs become heavy tears as I fell to the floor with a loud scream. The phone slammed against the wall right before Y/N's parents came running in.
"Honey, what's wrong?" her father said as he walked up to the wailing girl to comfort her. "Nana's dead," she said through choked sobs. Her mother gasped, covering her mouth with her hand. If Y/N had looked up, she would have seen the same hurt on her face, on her mother's face.
Y/N's father began to rub both of their backs as he calmly said, "Oh." He didn't know what to say to that. He thought that maybe, someone had broken into the house, but this was a completely different situation.
Now he knew his wife's mother was old, and it was a matter of time before she died, but Y/M/N's mother was almost like Y/N's best friend. They talked about boys together. They crocheted together. Patty could be seen at every school play and concert. Patty was Y/N's #1 supporter... well, besides Georgie Cooper.
Before anyone else could open their mouths to say something else, Y/N stood from her spot on the floor and ran out of the room. "Where are you going, honey?" Her father asked, her mother still in tears.
"Out," she called back, grabbing her jacket from the coat rack, and rushing out of the house.
Tumblr media
Y/N didn't have anything on her when she left her house. No wallet. No form of ID. But none was needed because she was just going up the street to the Cooper's. The Coopers were always like my second family. They treated me to meals. if my parents were away on business trips, a bed to sleep in, and she always felt like she had siblings in their kids, seeing as she was an only child.
Looking for Georgie, she went to the garage, where she knew Georgie would be. She pounded on the door. Still teary-eyed from earlier. When Georgie opened the door, he stopped himself in his tracks as he saw his best friend crying.
"Who was it? Do you want me to beat their ass?" He said, balling up his fists. Y/N shook her head no as she quickly slipped past Georgie and into his "home." She made her way to his bed and sat on it.
"My grandmother died a couple of hours ago," she said as she sadly looked down at her feet. Georgie looked at his friend with concern as he sat beside her. He pulled her into his side as he slowly began to rub her back.
"Wow, I didn't see that coming," he said before continuing. "I know how much she meant to you. And honestly, if I found out my Meemaw died, I wouldn't be as strong either." His words soothed the girl enough to make her stop crying, but it wasn't enough to get her out of her "funk."
Georgie looked down when he felt the girl begin to move out from his hold. She carefully moved to the center of the bed, where she got under the covers and laid. "Cuddle me?" she muttered.
Georgie stood with a small, "Yeah. Sure." He got ready for bed, throwing on a pair of pajama pants before hopping in next to the girl. He threw his arm around her waist, feeling the silk fabric from her pajamas on his skin, and he lay there quietly.
It wasn't long before Y/N fell asleep. She had one of the longest nights a person could ever have. And it's safe to say that she earned a good night's sleep.
Georgie hovered over the girl as he took in the girl's soft snores. He carefully moved the hair from Y/N's face as he traced the small tear lines covering her face. Placing a kiss on the girl's forehead, he turned off the light and laid back down, holding the girl. He soon fell asleep, and they both slept peacefully.

The Amends Consideration
A/N: @ailurophilia72 if you ask, you shall receive.
This one is a heavy one, I'm not going to lie. Saw this prompt on tumblr and it got my brain going I just couldn't get it out of my head. Death has reared its ugly head in my life again and that kind of fueled a lot of this story. I am in a lot of pain right now and I needed it out. This story was the product.
I know in Young Sheldon, George is portrayed a lot differently than what is let on in Big Bang. I tried to go for the way he was described in BBT, a darker version definitely compared to what we see in YS. Just for full disclosure.
Prompt: Sheldon gets sad when he realizes his dad will never get to meet his child
Sheldon didn't know what to think as he pulled his mother's unexpected package out of the mailbox. Mary hadn't mentioned anything about sending him something, so the contents of the small box in his hand was a mystery.
He sorted through the rest of the mail on the elevator ride back up to his and Amy's shared apartment. Bills, adds, a couple of congratulations cards for the upcoming birth of their son. But nothing interested him more than the nondescript box he cradled under his arm.
As the elevator doors dinged open, Sheldon paid no mind to the obvious chatter coming from 4A. Penny and Bernadette had teamed up to throw Amy a baby shower, which his wife wanted but never had time to plan. With her two friends already being mothers themselves, they decided it would be easier to take the responsibility into their own hands. Of course, that meant Amy would probably be gone most of the day, knowing how those ladies like to chat. Sheldon didn't mind though, he never cared if he was on his own.
He had planned on getting some work done that he had neglected during the week. No day like Saturday to get things done, after all. However, the second he stepped back into his apartment, he threw everything from the mailbox except his mother's package onto the kitchen counter.
Sitting down on the teal couch, Sheldon inspected the parcel on the coffee table in front of him. "Alright, let's find out what you are," Sheldon whispered to no one, taking out his tiny pocket knife and carefully cutting the tape. The box opened from the side, so he spilled the contents out before him. There was a loud clunk as something heavy, and plastic hit the table. A couple other things fell out with it, one of which was a note from his mother.
Shelly,
Found this while cleaning out the garage. Figured it was something you should have. Forgive me for watching it without you, but I needed to know what was on the tape.
Please watch it, baby. He would have wanted you to see it.
Love, Mom
Sheldon set the note back down on the table and picked up the item that had caused the most ruckus on its way out of the box. A VHS tape. Probably the last thing Sheldon expected his mother to send. Upon further inspection, Sheldon found his father's handwriting scrawled across the label.
Make Amends – For Sheldon
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Sheldon sighed heavily. A part of him didn't even want to give this tape the time of day. His father had been dead a long time; there was no need to dig up dirt from twenty-six years ago. But his curiosity couldn't help but wonder what his father could possibly have said to him on this tape.
According to her note, Mary had watched it already. Should he just call her and just have her tell him what was on it?
No. Sheldon was mature enough to watch this recording without calling his Mommy for assistance.
He moved quickly around the small living space and in front of the television. After the "football game tape over" incident last year, Sheldon invested in a used VHS player. Amy had teased him about it for weeks, but he couldn't possibly tell her the real reason he got it. Not to watch old movies from his childhood, which he did so Amy couldn't call his bluff, but to listen to his father's voice again when he started to forget what it sounded like.
With a few expert moves, Sheldon had the video playing in no time. Cradling the remote in his hands, back on the couch now, he leaned forward with rapt attention.
George Cooper was already in view, adjusting the camera on whatever he had it perched on. Which, according to the date, also on the label, was in 1994.
It was only a couple of seconds before his father had settled into the chair of his old office at Sheldon's old high school. From the looks of things, it seemed dark, like it was late in the evening. Unfortunately, he didn't have time to think about it too much because the dead man started talking. Literally.
"Hello, Sheldon," George sighed. "I don't know when this video is going to find you or how you're going to take it, but this needs to be said, Son. I have to say this to you. Especially to you."
His father paused for a moment as if to compose himself. The moisture in his eyes told Sheldon enough.
"I'm in a twelve-step program, Sheldon. For my drinkin'. And before you think of it, no, your mother is not forcing me into it. I am going on my own free will, but I am doing it for her. I love your mom, Sheldon, I know you probably don't believe that, but I do."
Another pause.
"Step nine of this program is to make amends with people I have harmed. And a part of me knows you will never fully forgive me, but of all the people I need to apologize to, you're at the top of the list, Sheldon. Not just because of what you have seen, or the things I have said to you drunk, but because of my shortcomings as a father."
"I always had this idea of what a man should be. The typical, all things masculine, into sports, rootin' for the Dallas Cowboy's kinda stuff. But you never did fit that role, did ya, son?"
Sheldon watched his father smile at his question. There wasn't malice in his eyes like he was angry, but instead, he seemed almost proud of him.
"Georgie was always the one who liked to go outside and play catch with me, and go fishin', and do all of the things 'typical boys like to do'. You never had an interest in any of that, and because of it, I never treated you as I should. As a father should. Unconditional love no matter what your child does or likes. I tried to change you at any chance I could get, and that wasn't fair to you. I should have embraced your intelligence. I should have bought you that science kit you wanted instead of that dirt bike. I should have been the father you deserved, Sheldon, because you did. You are amazing, son, and I am so insanely proud to be your father."
Sheldon wasn't expecting this. He didn't think his father was capable of saying such heartfelt words about him. His father could sing praises about Georgie's accomplishments all day long, few as they may have been. But even though Sheldon never heard George say he was proud while he was alive, hearing the words said over tape struck a chord within him.
Before the man on the screen could start talking again, Sheldon pressed pause. At the beginning of the video, he had expected George to discuss the unfortunate affair that Sheldon had unfortunately born witness to. After all, that was his most blatant faux pas. But his dad had dug deeper, past the surface, past the infidelity. He looked for the root problem of his relationship with his son. Sheldon's father was a man much like himself, never liked to outwardly display emotions often, but when he did, they were sincere. So, for the great George Cooper to open up like this, to a camera albeit, meant a great deal to him.
It had been a long time since Sheldon had thought of his dad the way he was at the moment. Like the man who raised him, who helped shape who he was today, and not the man who simply cheated on his mother. That was the title he had held in Sheldon's eyes for a long time. There had been a few cracks here and there. Like he and Amy's wedding or the night they watched the pep talk George gave the football team in the locker room. But those moments were fleeting. Gone as quickly as they came.
Perhaps it was because Sheldon had yet to hear the contents of this tape. The fact that he never made amends with his father before he died had forever tainted his perspective of him. Sheldon couldn't be sure.
All he knew was that he suddenly felt much more at peace in regards to his dad. But in place of Sheldon's bitterness and anger towards him was a tug of grief in his gut that he hadn't felt for years. The twisting knot of pain that permeated throughout his entire body.
His dad in the video, had said he was proud of him. Insanely proud of him. And yet, he didn't even live long enough to see half of his greatest accomplishments. He never got to see him with a Ph.D., win a Nobel, and countless other awards. He didn't get to meet Sheldon's friends, never got to meet Amy. His father's absence was felt heavily at their wedding.
And now, as Sheldon was on the cusp of becoming a father himself, he wouldn't get to meet his grandson.
Even from his seated position on the couch, Sheldon doubled over from the crippling feeling that came with that thought. Missy had expressed similar views when she gave birth to her first child, but Sheldon hadn't expected that feeling to be so intense. So utterly heartbreaking.
Sheldon wouldn't get to see both of his parents cradling his newborn. His son wouldn't be able to enjoy two grandfathers. Or learn football from his Texan Pop-Pop and be forced to root for the Cowboys no matter how bad their record was.
His son would never meet the formidable George Cooper.
The dry sob that escaped his mouth surprised him. But then came another one, and again, and again, until his face was no longer dry. Sheldon could hardly remember the last time he had cried like this over his father. He had done it once in the twenty-six almost twenty-seven years his father had been dead. The day he found out his father passed away when he was alone in his dorm room miles away from home. But he was fourteen then, barely able to understand the true concept of death. Sure, he knew the science behind it, but not the emotions. Not the grief.
Still, the tears he shed in his living room were not unlike those he had shed in his dorm room. Alone, vulnerable, miles away from Texas. But one key element was different; he now could fully understand the scope of what his father being gone meant. How it impacted the lives of his family. How it changed what his son's childhood would look like.
Sheldon was now beginning to dread the day he would have to explain to his son why he only had one grandfather while everyone else at school had two. Hopefully, Amy's dad lived long enough so he wouldn't have to explain to his kid why he had none.
With his elbows rested on his knees and his fingers interlaced behind his head, he let his body feel the emotion running through it. He didn't try to surpass it as he had for years. But that just made it all the more intense.
"Sheldon?"
His head snapped up at the sound of Amy's voice. His heavily pregnant wife stood in the open doorway to their apartment, staring at him with concern.
Amy glanced at the TV for a moment. "What's wrong?" She asked, slowly walking the short distance to the couch.
Sheldon frantically wiped at his face, trying to make himself look more presentable. As if that mattered to Amy. "This came in the mail today." He held up the empty box his mother sent. "Mom was cleaning out the garage when she found this tape of my dad. She wanted me to have it," his voice cracked with the last few words as he threw the cardboard back onto the table.
Amy, now sitting next to him, rubbed his back soothingly. "Well, what was on it?"
"It's nothing, just my Dad explaining he was in a twelve-step program, and he wanted to make amends with me."
"So, why the tears?"
His face scrunched up again. "I don't… it just… it just hit me that our son will never be able to meet him," he sobbed. Sheldon gestured with his hands and tried to speak, but the words caught in his throat. "I-I-I don't know that j-just hurt more than I-I expected it t-to," he eventually stuttered.
Amy sniffled beside him, which made Sheldon finally look back up at her. She gave him a sad smile as she continued to rub his hunched back. "What was on the video that made you realize that?"
"I thought he was going to apologize for the affair, the one I walked in on. Instead, it was for his mistakes as a father. How he never seemed as proud of me as he did with Georgie. I didn't think my dad was capable of digging below the surface, but he did. He found the true problem with our relationship, and he wanted to make up for it." Sheldon picked up the remote and rewound the tape a little. "I mean, I have never seen my father talk about me this way. Look."
He pressed play.
"I should have been the father you deserved, Sheldon, because you did. You are amazing, son, and I am so insanely proud to be your father."
The video stopped again.
"If he was proud of me then, how would he feel about me now? Just the fact that I found you… he would have been over the moon. I'm sure of it. But now we're about to have a son, and he won't be here for it? I just…" Sheldon trailed off, not knowing quite how to word what he was feeling.
But Amy nodded in understanding. "Above all else, you wish he were here for our son," she stated, not asked.
"Yes. Despite all of my father's faults, he did care about his family. He would've gone down protecting us, probably, if a heart attack hadn't claimed him first. In light of all of my professional accomplishments, this is what would have meant the most to him."
Sheldon glanced down at his wife's stomach, where their son was visibly wiggling around. He smiled fondly at the sight but swallowed thickly at the emotion that rose with it. In a few short weeks, he would be holding that baby, their families would be surrounding them. Rejoicing with them.
But George Cooper wouldn't be there.
Suddenly, Amy's hand was no longer on his back but on his knee. "Sheldon," she beckoned him to look at her. "There's nothing I could say that would make this any easier for you, but might I suggest something?"
He nodded.
She laid her free hand on her stomach. "What do you think about making the baby's middle name George?"
"What?" He gawked. "I thought you wanted it to be William. You know, for Darcy."
She stared at him long and hard for a moment and then patted his leg. "I did, but I already got Elliot; let me give you this one."
Sheldon shook his head. "No," he said firmly. "You're doing all the hard work; you should get to decide two of the names. Seeing as how you don't want to hyphenate his last name."
Amy grimaced suddenly and held a hand to her side, her face scrunched up in pain. And suddenly, Sheldon was on high alert. "What's wrong? Are you having contractions?"
"No." She waved her hand at him. "Just got kicked pretty hard, that's all." He opened his mouth to point out her hard work again but she stopped him. "Look, Sheldon, I am really not upset about our kids only being Coopers. Seriously. I want to do this for you. I want his middle name to be George."
"Are you one hundred percent sure? You don't just feel sorry for me because my dad is dead and you think this will cheer me up?"
It sounded stupid coming out of his own mouth. Sheldon could only imagine what it sounded like to Amy.
"Sweetheart," she endeared. "Our son's middle name should be special, not the name of a fictional character. We only decided on William because we couldn't think of anything else. Neither one of us suggested George for some reason. I have no emotional attachments to the name William, but I do to the name George. We both do."
Sheldon took her hand in his own. "You're sure about this?"
"Absolutely. Besides, don't you think Elliot George Cooper sounds better than Elliot William Cooper?"
"William did lack a certain panache, didn't it?" Sheldon smirked, finally coming around after more convincing than it should have.
Amy laughed at that, but her face went serious again rather quickly. "I'm sorry you miss your dad, Sheldon. I would have loved to meet him."
"And he would have loved to meet you."
Sheldon looked back at the TV, his father's paused face, still staring back at him. He really did look like his father. His mother had always said so, but he never believed her. Now an adult, it was like looking into a mirror. He really was his mini-me.
If Elliot got Sheldon's eyes, then he would really have George's eyes. Sheldon only had them because of his father. Suddenly, he selfishly understood Amy's hope for their children to have his eyes.
"What are you thinking about?" Amy asked, pulling him from his reverie.
"It's just uncanny how similar my father and I look. I guess now I'm just being selfish in hoping our son looks like me." Sheldon looked over and was met with Amy's blank expression. "Not that I don't want him to look like you," he quickly tried to cover himself.
Amy giggled and motioned for him to stop. "I wasn't thinking that. I know what you meant. Your dad may no longer be alive, but he lives on through his children and their children. Not to sound overly sappy."
"Too late," he joked. "I know I am being overly sentimental right now because I'm thinking about my dad. But seeing his face again, hearing his voice, I guess I'm just trying to hold onto whatever I can of him."
"That's grief, honey," Amy said softly.
Sheldon nodded, acknowledging the truth and the harsh reality behind those words. "I know, and I haven't allowed myself to feel that for a long time."
They sat in relative silence for a moment, the gentle whirring of the VHS player the only sound filling the air. There was still more on the tape; George certainly had more to say. Sheldon was sure of it. He thought for a moment, then turned to his wife and asked, "do you want to watch the rest of the tape with me?"
"Really?"
He nodded slightly.
"I do."
George Cooper's voice sounded once more in a matter of seconds.
"Sheldon, I know you are going to do great things one day. I have known that since… well… forever. I know you're going to find amazing people to surround yourself with who will love you and treat you the way you deserve to be treated."
Check.
"I know you will make countless accomplishments academically, more than you have already."
Check.
"I know you will fall in love with someone someday who will make your heart soar."
Sheldon and Amy smiled at each other, squeezing each other's hand slightly. Check.
"I know you will have exceptional, amazing children one day because you and I both know you are too exceptional to not do so."
Almost check.
"I know you're going to live a full life, Sheldon. Because you have such a drive for greatness, and I know you have my stubbornness, so, you will settle for nothing less."
George leaned forward, on his desk Sheldon was assuming.
"I know I have a lot of making up to do, and I hope someday you will accept this apology. I know you have a kind heart, Sheldon; I have seen it with my own eyes. I will understand if you can't, I have failed you as a father thus far, but I hope that someday you will extend that kindness towards me. I cannot wait to see you grow up, do all the things I know you want to do. Hopefully, I'll be around to see you accomplish most of them."
Sheldon should have finished the video before he started crying earlier. The fact that this was taped less than a year before his father passed away did not escape him. Nor did that make his pain any easier.
He figured, at least now he had Amy by his side.
"I hope that when this video finds you, you will listen and not throw it away. Even if that's what I probably deserve. I'm going to try sending these tapes out soon, so call me if you see this. Just let me know you've watched it. If that's all you can do for now, I'll understand; I've got a lot of things to work on."
His father smiled fondly at the camera. Not the forced one that Sheldon could always remember from his childhood but a genuine, real smile. It was also his smile.
"I love you, Sheldon. Talk to you soon."
The video stopped and began to rewind to the beginning. Amy was rubbing at his back again, soothing him as tears once again fell from his eyes. But Sheldon was still too transfixed on the screen. He whispered it so quietly, he doubted Amy would be able to hear it. Which would be fine. It was one of the few things not meant for her ears anyway.
"I love you too, dad."
A/N: Well that ended darker than I usually end this. This story ended up being surprisingly personal to me for a lot of reasons, and since I am dab smack in the middle of grief it just didn't feel right to have some uber sappy happy ending, because that's not genuine. That's not real. It's bittersweet at the least I hope.
Thank you so much for reading, especially right now, it means the world to me.

I fell really behind on Big Bang and since its all now purchase or not every episode available to catch up on it ..... its going to be a bit before I see the entire series. So, I started watching Young Sheldon because honestly Sheldon. Like, I watched BBT for Sheldon alone initially, the others I eventually adored as well. (careful spoilers ahead)
Having said that .... Young Sheldon is so different. I love Missy and Georgie. The dynamic between the kids is so relatable for me. I love the relationships within the entire family to be honest and how you can see that Mary and George do love each other but yet there is a strain between them, in the way they would both handle things. I’m curious to see if the show is going to go all the way and show the fall out that TBBT had Sheldon talking about with them.
Anyways .... this latest episode is what got me posting about this show because honestly .... I really loved the focus on George and Missy. Especially given the previous episode we had where Missy and Sheldon were being tested for intellect level and Missy showed exceptional abilities on the emotional/empathy scales. And then commented about no one really being on team Missy. Like, the episode having someone on her team for a change ... because let’s be real even after that episode we still never really got a fix on that front ... was so nice to see. And I loved that it was time with her dad. Especially given how things usually go when daddy’s little girl has a crush.
We didn’t get a dad going “nope to young” but picking up on her questions and simply wondering why she was asking. Accepting (despite her denials) ... and then offering help in other ways. Then when things went bad he simply offered help. Asked what he could do. No “Well you’re to young anyways”. I love that the show didn’t turn George into a dad that lets his son date and flirt but his daughter cannot at all show interest, nope not allowed. He’s okay with it .... so long as they do right and are treated right.
I just want this show to not end up hurting me is all I’m getting at and I know it’s going to if it goes as far as the marriage fall out. Because you know them losing their dad, who does care about them. Who just wants the best for them .... it’s going to hurt so bad.

Hi there! I really enjoy your writing. There's a scene in my head that I would have liked to see on screen - so here's my prompt: Sheldon visiting George's grave after he became a dad (maybe taking his child/baby with him). Thank you!
Thank you so much for this prompt. While it's a sad topic, I hope I made it sweet as well.
Sheldon buckled his infant daughter into the backseat of the rental car. As he adjusted the belt over her car seat, her lower lip quivered.
"It's okay, little one. I know the plane ride was scary, and now we're in another strange vehicle, but I promise you it will all be worth the discomfort. Your Meemaw Mary and Aunt Missy are so excited to see you again, and your Uncle Georgie can't wait to meet you."
"Look at that sweet baby face," Amy murmured. "She's going to be one spoiled little girl with all that attention, or maybe subjecting her to the whole family at once will be over-stimulating."
The whole family. The words repeated themselves in his mind as Amy set her phone's GPS for their destination. Following the computerized voice directions, she turned left out of the rental car parking lot.
The whole family. "Amy, wait."
"What's wrong?"
"There's something I need to do before we go to my mother's."
"We're already running late. I don't want to hold up dinner, and Missy will want to get the boys to bed before Santa comes."
"They'll understand. We'll need to make a U-turn at the next intersection."
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see."
Amy pulled into a driveway and cancelled the route entered on her phone. "Do you have the address?"
"No, but I know exactly how to get there. I'll be your navigator."
Each turn took them further away from Mary Cooper's residence. When they reached a deserted gravel road, Amy frowned. "Sheldon, if we're lost, just tell me. The GPS can get us back to town.
"We're not lost. Keep going straight."
They passed fields he hadn't seen in over 20 years. The wooden nameplate on the Winslows' fence still greeted passersby, and the Jamison farm appeared to be stuck in 1994. It was both comforting and disconcerting that nothing had changed, unlike himself who was no longer an awkward teenager but a distinguished scientist and a married man with a child. After driving another 3 miles, Sheldon broke the silence. "Okay, now turn left at the farmhouse on the corner."
Amy obliged. He caught her peeking at him on occasion, the corners of her mouth turned down slightly and her brow wrinkled. He knew that look. She was worried. Telling her where they were going would be the proper thing to do, but saying it out loud would make it more of a reality. One he wasn't sure he was ready to face. Their destination was in view now. With shaky hands, he tugged at his seatbelt. The polyester strap was suddenly like a boa constrictor slowly suffocating him.
"Sheldon, what's wrong?"
He opened his mouth, but all that came out was a strangled squeak. It was foolish to think he could do this. They could still turn around, but after coming this far, if he didn't go through with it now, he never would.
Amy parked in front of a wrought iron gate at the end of the road. Sheldon's tugging intensified as his eyes surveyed their surroundings. The well-manicured lawn, pruned trees, and weeded flowerbeds provided no comfort. They only served as a reminder that their beauty was a cover-up for an otherwise melancholic landscape. With a gentle touch, she rested her hand on his knee. "Is this where you need to be?"
He forced himself to look up at the letters on the archway above the gate - Medford Cemetery. It was a place he had avoided for 27 years, ever since the day his father was laid to rest. Amy was quietly watching him. It was as if she knew he needed to gather his thoughts and work through his feelings. He tried to smile at her, but it felt like more of a grimace. "This is the place."
Sheldon blinked back tears. So much had happened, so many events missed over that period of time. He mourned all the times George Senior couldn't be there for his life's achievements - his wedding, his Nobel win, and now his daughter.
Twisting his head, he peered at her. The rear-facing car seat didn't offer him a view of her face, but he could see her tiny fists balled at her sides. He smiled sadly at the little pink bundle before turning to his wife. "This is harder than I thought, but I need to do this."
"Take all the time you need."
"Thank you." He closed his eyes and breathed deeply.
The digital clock on the dash alerted him that they were almost due at the dinner table. Earlier, he couldn't wait to devour his mother's cooking. Now the thought of food made his stomach flip. Still, they were expected to join the festivities, and he didn't want to keep them waiting too long.
Sheldon strapped Leah to his chest. The sling's specifications boasted accommodating a maximum weight of 25 pounds. At five months, she weighed in at a mere 15 pounds, but he wasn't taking any chances. With one hand, he supported her weight. His free hand sought out his wife's fingers. Together they crossed the threshold.
On autopilot, he led them past headstones of former residents of the town where he spent his high school years. Even with the new additions, he knew exactly where to go.
"We're here," he announced, gathering them near a towering bur oak tree. The tips of the branches hung over the grave but not so much that the sun couldn't illuminate the area. Mary Cooper chose the plot with the intent that visitors would be shaded from the warm Texas sun yet allow her husband to look down on them from the heavens.
Brushing a twig from the headstone, tears blurred his vision again. Seeing "George Cooper" etched in stone was like a punch to the gut. Years of convincing himself his father was a terrible man was his way of coping. Now that he was a father himself, it was even more evident his father wasn't the monster he made him out to be.
Leah squirmed in her sling. Restless after a long day of traveling, he needed to do this quick, but he also needed to do it right. "Leah, you're going to meet some family members today, but there's one who can't be there."
He swallowed hard, taking a moment to compose himself. "Your Grandpa George died when I was 14 years old, long before you were born. At the time, I never dreamed I'd be a father."
Amy squeezed his hand, giving him the courage to continue. "Now that I am, I realize how much he sacrificed for me and your aunt and uncle. And even though he didn't understand me, he loved me and was proud of my accomplishments."
The little girl reached her arms up, her tiny fingers smearing the tears rolling down his cheeks. Sheldon couldn't help but smile at his precious little girl. The smile faltered knowing she would never meet her grandfather.
"You're doing great."
He tightened his grip on his wife's hand. "I remember the night he took Missy on a father/daughter dinner date at the best restaurant in town. She insisted on dressing as a princess, and rather than having her change into 'normal' clothes, he indulged in her fantasy. Missy spoke fondly of that night for many years. I would have thought Dad would be embarrassed to be seen in public like that. If he was, he didn't let it show."
Leah squealed, her baby smile contagious.
"I think she's asking if you would do the same," Amy chuckled.
"I would prefer her to dress as a superhero, but if she insists on dressing as a princess, I couldn't say no." The smile slipped from his face. "
"What's wrong?"
Sheldon gazed down at the stone and bit his lip. "I was just thinking about the time Dad took me on a road trip to Cape Canaveral to see a space shuttle launch. It wasn't his idea of a good time, but he knew how much I wanted to go. A thunderstorm cancelled the event, so he distracted me by asking questions about lightning."
"The more I hear about your dad, the more I like him."
"I know he would have adored you and Leah."
Sheldon looked into his daughter's blue eyes - his eyes, his father's eyes. George Senior wasn't really gone; his genes lived on through his family. "I know you're too young to understand, but bringing you here was the only way you could meet your grandpa. When you're older, I'll tell you all about him."
Leah babbled. Before long, her baby talk would become coherent words. He'd been inpatient for her to progress to that point, but now he wanted to savor each moment.
The December sky was darkening. With his phone on airplane mode, Sheldon was certain his mother had tried contacting him multiple times and was starting to panic. Before turning away, he handed Amy their child. Crouching in the cool grass, he traced the letters carved into the stone.
"I think you would be proud of the life I've built for myself. I know I am." He heard Amy sniffle and fought the urge to do the same. "I'm sorry it's taken me so long to visit you, but I promise I'll be back. Merry Christmas, Dad."

'The Big Bang Theory' Boss Previews Sheldon & Amy's 'Star-Studded' Wedding! (Exclusive)
Amy and Sheldon's wedding is just days away!
The highly anticipated moment will take place on the season 11 finale of The Big Bang Theory on Thursday, and only ET has your exclusive sneak peek at Shamy's pre-wedding excitement.
In our first-look clip above, Sheldon and Amy are revealing that former foe and now close friend Wil Wheaton will be officiating their nuptials. "If you'd have told me as a child that an actor from Star Trek would be officiating my wedding, I would've said, 'Oh! William Shatner?" Sheldon quipped.
To get the inside scoop on why Wheaton was the best fit to marry Sheldon and Amy, ET called up Big Bang showrunner Steve Holland, and he's spilling major behind-the-scenes secrets on the Cooper family reunion and how Kathy Bates ended up guest starring as Amy's mother.
In ET's exclusive first look at The Big Bang Theory's season 11 finale, Sheldon and Amy are discussing the fact that Will Wheaton is going to officiate their wedding. How did you in the writers' room decide that Will would be the best fit to wed Sheldon and Amy?
Steve Holland: Well, when we were talking about the wedding, we were trying to think of who would officiate it. I mean, obviously, it would not be a minister for Sheldon and Amy and then we thought maybe there could be some fun, science people who could do it, but then Will just seemed like such a good fit. He's a friend, so it would make perfect sense for him to do it, and for Sheldon, the chance to have someone from Star Trek to officiate his wedding, seems like a dream come true.

What do you want the fans to know about this episode before tuning in?
It's a star-studded affair! We're going to meet new family and friends and this is actually the first time that we've gotten a lot of the Big Bang supporting cast together in one place. We've got Will Wheaton and [John Ross Bowie as Barry] Kripke, and Brian Posehn as Burt and Kevin Sussman as Stuart. This is the first time that a lot of these actors have been in the same room at the same time together. And then on top of that, you've got Amy's family, and then Sheldon's family with his brother, Georgie, whom we met in the episode last week, and Sheldon's sister, who appeared on the show many, many years ago, is coming back once again.
Kathy Bates was such a delightful choice to play Amy's mother. How did her guest role on the show come about?
[Big Bang Theory creator] Chuck [Lorre] had a relationship with her. He has done a series with her before called Disjointed and so when we were starting to talk about his character and this player, he said, "Let me reach out to Kathy and see if she would be interested." And she jumped at it, which was so flattering for us. She really wanted to be a part of it and lucky for us that we were able to get her. It was amazing.

Seeing Jerry O'Connell as Georgie is such a great fit! Did you and the Young Sheldon team put your heads together for casting on that one?
Absolutely. I mean, we always work hand in hand anyways, but it was interesting because it was the first time that we introduced a character on this show that originated on Young Sheldon, so it was interesting because it gave us a bit of a template to work from, which was fun. We just started talking about this character and what he grew up to be and who kind of looked like him, and one of the writers pitched Jerry. He does kind of look a little bit like [Montana Jordan on Young Sheldon] and then we pulled up some clips of Jerry. He's played a Texan before and we heard him doing the accent, so it just seemed right. We reached out to him and he was a fan of Big Bang and his younger kids were a fan of Young Sheldon and a fan of the young Georgie that he was going to play.
And of course you can't have Georgie without Missy. Can you talk a bit about bringing back Courtney Henggeler, who first played the role back in season one, and your decision for Missy to now be pregnant?
It was interesting – we were just trying to think of who she was now and sort of give her something that she could play with, while also knowing that the character wasn’t going to have a ton of screen time. It felt like just when you first see her again, you see that attitude and she's not too thrilled about it. It seemed like it gave her a little bit of a fun comedy bit to play.
The Big Bang Theory's season 11 finale airs Thursday, May 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

11 - Changing the Game
Tumblr media
Part 12
It’s About Time
What other episodes do you want me to include?? I am wanting to write them at 17 years old already so I might do a time skip unless y’all have anymore episodes you’d like me to include when they aren’t 17.
Georgie and I hadn’t really talked in deep conversation about whatever our feelings were. We had been working in Dale's shop for a few weeks now. So only small talk when the other needed help with a customer.
Rounding the counter top I handed a person back their change before I eyed the clock seeing it was time for me to be off of work. “That’s my shift. Georgie I’ll see you tomorrow.” I headed towards the front door about to leave.
“Y/n, hang on a sec. Can I talk to you real quick?” He made me pause from pushing open the door to leave.
I clicked my tongue looking over my shoulder at him. “I guess so. But make it quick I have to meet your sister before she tries out.”
“Yeah I heard that was today. But I was thinking if you’re free afterwards that we could hang out.” Georgie shrugged his shoulders standing a few steps away from me.
I clicked my tongue feeling uneasy about talking with him right now. I wasn’t brave enough to tell him how I really felt and I wasn’t sure that I would ever get there. “I’ll see if I’m free, Georgie. But I - uh should go. I promised I wouldn’t be late.” Pushing the door opened the young Cooper watched his best friend leave the store and he dropped the half smile on his face knowing he needed to say something sooner rather than later.
George sr, Missy and I got out of his truck  before I watched Missy slam the backdoor behind her including her bedroom door in anger. Waiting outside her room i wasn't sure what to say listening to the parents talk about what happened in the kitchen. Memaw's shoes quickly stomped down the hallway pushing the door open. “You want to be on that baseball team?”
“Yes, but the coach said-” Missy sat up on her bed.
Connie cut her granddaughter's words. “I don't care what he said get your glove, let's go.”
She got up from the bed coming to meet me in the hallway until Sheldon spoke up. “Missy..”
She halted glaring at him. “What?”
He sent her a good boost of confidence rather than a snarky comment. “Do good baseball.”
Connie, Missy and I got in her car driving to the baseball field where the coach was.  I gasped in surprise seeing that the coach was in fact my boss at the sporting good’s store. Connie stomped up to him while he was packing the back of his truck. “You tell my granddaughter she can't play baseball?”
“Oh, well, I was just looking out for her, that's all.” My boss responded to her.
Connie snapped back. “Is that so? Well, we don't need you deciding what's best for her.”
“What do you need?” He asked.
Connie nodded her head poking her index finger into his chest. “I need you to give her the same chance you would a boy!”
“Or what?” He challenged her.
But she wasn’t going down without a fight. “Or you and me gonna have problems.”
“Well, we wouldn't want that, would we?” Dale picked up a ball and glove handing it to her.
“No, we wouldn't.” She takes the gear  coming over to the two of us. Handing it to Missy she stands beside me and behind the young girl. “Fire it in there, baby.”
“I'm scared.” Missy put the ball in one hand and slipped the glove on her opposite looking at my boss but didn't throw it immmedatly.
Connie faced her granddaughter looking her dead in the eye. “Meemaw has just made a scene. Now is not the time to be scared!”
“Come on, Missy just picture me down there. Throw the ball to me.” I encouraged the girl knowing that she had really impressive aim.
Missy takes a breath before launching the ball directly into his glove. I jumped up in the air cheering for her while Connie removed her sunglasses teasing the coach. “I'm just a girl. But I think that’s called a Strike.”
It had been a few days since she made the team and today was her first game. All of us were gathered together in the metal bleachers. Missy came out of the dug out with a red helmet on her head and a gray baseball bat in hand. She was in white pants, an orange shirt and her hair was braided down her back when she walked towards the mount. “Let's go, Missy!” Connie cheered standing beside me.
“Go get 'em, Missy!” Her dad hollered while I stood as close to the metal fence as possible to see the game.
The other team's pitcher threw a ball where she ducked underneath it and the umpire behind her caught the ball. “Ball.”
“Whoa.” Her mother gasped. “Oh! Dear Lord.”
Dale, who was the coach, remained calm as best he could. “Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold it.”
“It happens. She's okay. Brush it off, Missy!” Missy’s dad touched his wife’s arm, not concerned about this.
The pitcher launched the ball again before Missy ducked a second time since the ball was directly heading for her face. “Ball.”
“What the hell?” Connie jumped up to stand.
George Sr raised his voice. “Son of a bitch.”
“Ballard, you gonna let them give her a black eye or am I gonna have to come out there and kick their asses!”
My boss raised his hands understanding the frustration. “Hey! Hey, hey, hey. Hold it. We talked about this. Cooper!” He called her name where we saw Missy run forward and tackled the pitcher into the dirt beginning to hit him with her fists.
“Hell yeah!” I throw my hands up in the air in victory that she was standing up for herself.
Coach Ballard shakes his head. “Ah, well, here we go.”
“Eat dirt. Eat it.” Missy said shoving his face in the dirt.
Connie cheered her on. “Kick his ass!”
“Does it taste good? Huh?” Missy teased.
Dale chimed in. “Yeah, listen to your meemaw. Kick his ass!”
“You gonna cry? Huh? Do it. Cry.” Missy noticed some tears coming down the boys face.
Her mom didn't want to watch the scene before her looking at her husband. “Do something. Break it up.”
“H-Hang on. She's winning.” But all he could feel was proud of his little girl.
“Missy! Missy Cooper, you stop beating up that boy!” Mary shouted not enjoying her see her daughter beating up a boy over a baseball game.
Connie shouted back. “Punch him in the nuts!”
After Missy was thrown out of the game I had to go home for dinner and everyone had to get ready for school and work the next morning. Laying on my bed with my bedroom door closed I was eating some Fritos and finishing up the math homework I had left until I heard someone knocking on my window in the middle of the night. “What the heck is going on?”
The knocking occurred a few more times where I could see someone out there so I got up and opened the window. Shifting my gaze around I could see someone hanging off the tree that was near my window. “Y/n!” I recognized Georgie’s voice coming through the night sky.
“Georgie, are you insane? Get in here.” I gasped holding out my hand for him to take as he crawled over on one of the limbs until I yanked him inside my window and we tumbled to the floor where I prayed we didn't wake up my parents.
He got up off the floor using his knees tugging me up to stand with him. “I need to talk with ya about something.”
“Hold up.” I moved around my bed flipping the lamp light on. “It’s the middle of the night. Did something really bad happen?”
He shakes his head no. “Nah nothing bad. But there's something I need to tell you.”
“Okay. What is it?” I asked, sitting down on the edge of the bed.
Georgie ran a hand through his hair and he slumped his shoulders heavily before the words I wasn’t expecting fell out of his mouth. “I have feelings for you.”
“What kind of feelings?” I questioned him not believing what he uttered next to me after all this time.
Georgie nervously responded with a blush on his face. “The more than best friends kind of feeling.” I hung my mouth opened so unclear of my next response to my best friend.

“Okay so I don’t know all the tricks but let’s see what you’ve got.” I responded towards the young Cooper girl.
She smiled at me since I had come after school to teach her some baseball throws for fun. I wasn’t very good but I knew some throws to make it where she didn’t almost hit a car the first time we met. “I can’t believe I know a high schooler.”
“Hey when I’m here that doesn’t matter. I’m just Y/n. Now let’s see how you throw.” Tossing the ball back and forth in my hands I lifted my arm back, throwing it lightly in her direction.
Missy reached up and caught the ball where she stumbled backwards a little. “I am loving you right now. Here you go.”
She threw it where I grunted falling back onto the ground on my butt catching the ball in my clove. “Woah girl. You’ve got a good arm. We just need to get your accuracy.”
“Okay I think I can do that.” Throwing the ball back to her she caught it easily.
I heard a truck pull up in the driveway where I saw Sheldon the smart nine year old get out first. “Statistically if you go for it instead of punting for it you will likely win the game.”
“Sheldon, stop talking.” Someone shut the passenger door where I recognized Georgie who was coming home from football practice after school.
Sheldon kept on. “The opposing team has a 92% of scoring. When they punt from deep in their own territory the other team still has a 77% chance of scoring. They convert on fourth down 50% of the time the math says they shouldn’t punt again.”
Georgie grumbled walking towards the front door where he glanced at me. “Sheldon everybody punts, Watch out!” He shouted when I turned my head seeing that Missy had thrown a ball before he tackled me onto the ground so I didn’t get hit in the face.
“Y/n, I’m sorry.” Missy covered her mouth in shock tilting her head slightly to the side. “Wow you know you two could get married someday."
Georgie shot his head up, holding himself up with his hands on either side of my body. "Be quiet, Missy…Are you okay…uh Y/n?"
"Yeah…Georgie. Thanks." I sucked in a breath meeting his gaze when he shifted his gaze downward to mine.
He slowly nodded his head getting to his feet offering me a hand to help me up off the grass. "No problem. I didn’t know you knew about baseball."
"Very little honestly. My dad and I would just toss the ball around a little bit." Shrugging my shoulders I sent him a smile.
The front door opened where we turned our heads seeing Mrs. Copper waving her kids inside. "Kids dinner is ready!"
"Mom, can my new friend Y/n stay for dinner!" Missy bolted to the porch.
Mrs. Copper nodded at me. "If it's fine with her parents." She shut the front door leaving us alone.
"After you, darling." Georgie gestures his arm in front of him letting me go inside first.
I blushed lightly seeing him smile and the fact that I enjoyed the way darling sounded from his lips. "Thanks Georgie."
Someone knocked on the door where I glanced over my shoulder seeing Missy come inside the room carrying the bouquet of flowers in her hands for me. "I can't believe you're finally marrying my brother."
"What I can't believe is that you were right when we were kids that we would likely get married." I grinned taking them from her hands
The door opened again with me seeing Mary, Connie and my mother. Amy and Sheldon were watching our kids since my parents had to be in the ceremony. “Mandy just got here and everyone is getting settled in by Pastor Jeff.”
“I grabbed your boots from your apartment since you don’t like heels.” Mary held them up for me where I slipped them on, eyeing my wedding dress hanging.
Getting to my feet I took it off the hook where I slipped my shirt and shorts off and onto the floor. Shrugging the material over my head the dress fit like a glove. Running my hands down the white material I did a few spins in it looking like a princess. “Name someone else who has more than one wedding to the same person.”
“I’ll go watch the girls so Mandy can come curl your hair.” Connie hugged me and I hugged her back leaving the room. Mandy came in and it took about an hour to curl my hair and help me with my jewelry.
Most of my hair was loose down my back. But I had some strand’s laying over the front of my shoulders. I had a jewel crown on top of my head when I looked in the mirror. “There you go, now you’re a princess.” Mandy grinned with someone else knocking on the door.
“Dad, are you ready to give me away for real?” Turning around in my chair the girls left the room when he helped me down by looping my arm through his.
We began walking through the church in Medford since it had taken time before we decided to have the wedding here. Yet I would always remember our small wedding in the Cooper backyard like the back of my hand. “I love you, dad.” I mumbled when he walked me down the aisle with everyone watching us.
My eyes shifted down to the very end seeing Georgie standing there smiling like he was a child again. He left his hair a mess and he was wearing a black suit and tie. By the time we stopped at the edge of the row where my dad kissed my forehead putting my hand in Georgie’s once he offered it. “Take care of my baby girl, Cooper. I love you honey.”
Georgie and I intertwined our hands together grinning at one another. Pastor Jeff walked up sharing the same look. “Friends and family, I am blessed to be here today. To join Y/n L/n and George Cooper Jr in the bonds of marriage. Now I will let these two do their vows.”
“Georgie, I love you. I have loved you since the moment we actually had our first conversation outside on the front lawn of your house. You have always thought that you weren’t as smart as Sheldon yet you are the smartest person I know. You are kind, stubborn, loving and a perfect father to our daughters and our son.” I started off the vows squeezing his hands in mine struggling through happy tears.
He chuckled, sending me a bright smile running his thumbs over my palms. “I love you too, darling. You have always been there for me and my family through the good times and bad times. You are a great mother to our children and you have made me not feel dumb. And I am the happiest person right now getting to marry you a second time.”
The pastor came up again holding out the rings that we had taken off so we could use them during the ceremony. “With these rings they will be joined together by God forever.”
“With this ring I marry you, Y/n M/n L/n.” Georgie took his meemaw's ring, sliding it onto my left ring finger.
Taking the ring for him I slid it on his finger smiling brightly. “With this ring I marry you, George Marshall Cooper.”
Pastor Jeff took a step back declaring to the room with Sheldon and his friends all watching us with happy smiles on their faces. “I now pronounce you husband and wife ... .oh my everyone remain calm.” Everyone in the church shifted their heads to the windows hearing the loud crash of thunder and hail hitting the windows harshly.
“Georgie…” I hugged my body against his chest terrified when the wind began picking up and the power went out in the building.
He wrapped his arms around my waist calling over to our daughters who were hugged up by Penny and Leonard. “It’s okay baby. We’re gonna be okay..girls!”
Aurora and Eve rushed forward where I wrapped my arms around their tiny bodies when some people were closing the church doors as tightly as they could. “Okay everyone, we need to take shelter in the basement.” Tornadoes were common in Texas but I never thought one would come today of all days.
Everyone was doing their best to get downstairs and into the basement under the church building. It wasn’t safe to be upstairs with all the glass windows and everything else. Georgie and I were huddled in one of the corners with his family. Clutching onto his jacket with my hands tightly I whimpered into his chest. “Georgie I’m scared….”
“Sssh it’s gonna be okay. We’re all going to be fine.” He mumbled wrapping his arms around me tightly. He rested his chin on top of my head when I buried my face against his chest.
Aurora huddled up into my lap with Evelyn she whimpered. “Mommy…”
Evelyn held Montana in her arms when he started stirring in his nap. “I’m scared.” Sniffing through tears I didn’t care about my wedding dress getting ruined. I just cared about keeping my family safe from a storm like this. I was always meant to be a Cooper.

The Young Sheldon spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage finally made its much-anticipated debut Thursday night and, naturally, we have questions about how Georgie (Montana Johnson) and Mandy (Emily Osment) are beginning their new lives in Texas.
Here, co-creator Steve Holland breaks down the premiere episode, titled “The 6:10 to Lubbock,” and among other things explains why he and the other EPs decided to have the stars perform a little ballroom in the title sequence.
DEADLINE: What was important for you to establish in this episode?
STEVE HOLLAND: It was important for us to re-establish the premise of the show and the situation by which Georgie and Mandy got together, and their living situation. It was a chance to spend time with these characters and hopefully remember why we love them.
DEADLINE: So basically, did this pick up days after the Young Sheldon finale?
HOLLAND: I would say probably a month or two after the finale. Obviously, George’s death is still lingers, but we didn’t want it to pick up right in the heavy aftermath of their grief.
DEADLINE: Why the tango in the title sequence?
HOLLAND: We wanted something that would be interesting and unique to the show. These days a lot of shows don’t even do title sequences, but we felt, especially in the Big Bang world, the title sequences have always been such a identifiable piece. When we were talking about the themes of the show, Steven Molaro, my co-creator, pitched the idea of the tango and it seemed surprising in a great way. It also seemed to really encapsulate the push-pull of this relationship. This relationship has a lot of love and passion, but they also have a lot of struggles and fights and the tango just seemed to really sum all that up. It’s also the last thing you expect to see when you’re watching this sitcom.
DEADLINE: How long did you know that you wanted to somehow address the concept of a live audience?
HOLLAND: That was pretty early on when we were breaking the story. I’m not sure if it’s ever happened before where a show has gone from single camera to a multi-camera spinoff. We knew there was going to be a moment where it was going to feel a little different to viewers. So we thought, why not just own it? Why pretend that we don’t know that this is a different thing and how it’s a slightly different format? Maybe there’s some fun in just coming out of the gate and saying, we know that this is a different kind of show and we’re excited about it.
DEADLINE: Why did you have them watching Frasier?
HOLLAND: For two reasons. It felt very identifiable for audiences. We felt like they would recognize it and get exactly what that is. It’s also a beloved multi-cam show, and that was important to us. It also sets the time on the show. It starts off in 1994. You immediately realize this is a bit of a period piece.
DEADLINE: As a reminder, how old are Georgie and Mandy now?
HOLLAND: Georgie is 19 and Mandy is 31.
DEADLINE: Seeing Mary and Meemaw was so cool. Is this a promise of what’s to come?
HOLLAND: Yeah. I mean we knew even when we were first talking about this show that it still took place in Medford and this was still his family. We love these actors and wanted to find ways to include them. So it always felt like they were going to be a part of the show. We’re in this lucky position on a first-season show. We have this A-list roster of superstars waiting on the bench to come in when we need them. And incredibly fun to put them in front of an audience.
Tumblr media
DEADLINE: There wasn’t the obligatory “awwww” when Georgie got a hug from Will Sasso’s Jim McAllister. Did you edit out the studio audience during that moment?
HOLLAND: We’re trying to be conscious of tone. Sometimes audiences come to these shows and they’re very amped up, so sometimes those big laughs at home can seem jarring. We’re trying to tamper them down. But especially things like the awwws … they have never been a thing that we love. It feels like sometimes the audiences are doing it because they think they’re supposed to. They take you out of what is a very sweet moment. We didn’t edit them out, but we did do another pass and asked the audience not [to make a sound].
DEADLINE: How did you shake the set?
HOLLAND: It was incredible. They actually built it on these hydraulic gimbals. There were different degrees of shaking that they could turn up and down. Then it was finding the right level because sometimes the walls and the furniture didn’t always shake. It was amazing because [Jordan and Osment] really enjoyed having Zoe Perry and Annie Potts back, and Montana had never done multi-cam before this. So this was his first foray into that and he was just great. He came so prepared and so ready to do it. I don’t think he dropped a line in the whole pilot shoot.
DEADLINE: At one point we hear Georgie say that “genius runs in my family.” Are you possibly teasing that their baby is going to be a prodigy?
HOLLAND: That was more of a nod to Sheldon than teasing the future of the baby. Hopefully we’re on the air long enough to find out what happens to this baby in 10 years.

Unlike Young Sheldon, which pivoted to a single-camera format, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is a multi-cam that shoots in front of a live, studio audience — just like The Big Bang Theory. And right up top, Thursday’s series premiere addresses the format switch head-on — and in extremely meta fashion.
In the cold open, Georgie (played by Montana Jordan) is seen watching a new episode of Frasier with Jim (Will Sasso) and Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones). As the sound of laughter resonates from their television set, Georgie turns to his in-laws and says, “Frasier’s a laughin’ show. I love laughin’ shows.” Audrey appears confused, so Georgie explains the difference between multi-cam and single-cam: “Some shows you can hear people laughin’, and some you can’t.”
Take, for instance, The Wonder Years, a single-camera show not unlike Young Sheldon. “No one’s laughin’,” Georgie points out. “Is it funny? We’ll never know!”
youtube
As series co-creator Steve Holland explains to TVLine, “I don’t know that we felt we needed to address [the format switch] for the audience to know what was going on.” That said, “as we were talking about the show and the switch to multi-cam — which, you know, I’m not sure that there has ever been a show that went from single- to multi-cam — we knew that it was going to be a thing that people were going to have a reaction to, and it was going to be a thing that people talk about, and we just thought, ‘Why don’t we get in front of it? Let’s own it and not try to pretend like we don’t know that there’s a difference here.’ And it just seemed like a fun way, right off the bat, to say, ‘We understand. We know what we’re doing. We get it. We know this is a different. We know this is a slightly different thing than you’re used to seeing in this world, but settle in. I think you’re going to enjoy it.'”
Tumblr media
During an April interview with TVLine, series star Emily Osment shared her feelings about the switch from single- to multi-cam. “I’ve paid my dues with multi-cam, and it’s so fun,” the Hannah Montana and Young & Hungry vet told us. “It’s just a completely different experience…. My favorite part of that is the live audience, and feeling like you’re doing a new play every week. I really enjoy that process.
“As much as we love our Young Sheldon crew — and they’re wonderful people to work around because they all laugh and make us feel great — there’s something different about actually performing in front of people who are there to watch you perform,” she explained. “It ignites something new in your performance, and it’s wonderful.”
Tumblr media
More recently, during a conference call with reporters, Jordan, who’s new to the multi-camera format, discussed what it was like on his first tape night. “I didn’t know what to expect. But I didn’t know what to expect at the beginning of Young Sheldon, either,” he said, “and somehow, thank God, I got through that, so I’m going to do the best I can. Every week, we all work our butts off to bring [Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage] to life [and] I’m enjoying every bit of it. Every time that we film, it’s electric, it’s energetic, it’s awesome… it’s really fun.”

Montana Jordan is giving fans an update on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage and what it will entail for his character.
Talking with ET's Deidre Behar from the orange carpet of the 2024 Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday, the 21-year-old actor spilled the details on the highly-anticipated Young Sheldon spinoff and where exactly the show will find his beloved character, Georgie Cooper, after the death of his father.
"You're going to find them two months after Young Sheldon ended," the Texas native shared, adding, "They're still mourning the loss of, you know, George [Sr.] dying and all that and so you're going to get to see Georgie become the man of the household."
Tumblr media
Jordan said that the show -- which follows Georgie and his wife, Mandy McAllister (Emily Osment) in the throws of their marriage -- will see the couple experience the ups and downs of a relationship and young parenthood in a dichotomy-driven comedy.
He also shared that while they plan to keep it light and funny for the live studio audience -- a return to The Big Bang Theory roots for executive producer Chuck Lorre -- they don't plan to shy away from "the hardness" and "the struggles" of two young parents trying to figure their lives out.
In June, ET spoke with the Hannah Montana alum at the Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas, where she shared the very little information she had on the scripts and the content that the show will cover in its first season.
"I actually have not read anything yet, but we're starting fairly soon and we're still in the process of pre-production," Osment said. "I assume it starts right where we left off, so there isn't too big of a gap for our viewers in terms of, like, story or missing us too much. We just pick right up where we were."
Tumblr media
Just hours before his Kids' Choice Awards stop, Jordan appeared at a Television Critics Association event alongside Osment and they confirmed that the show will feature guest stars a plenty. Included in that list are Perry, Revord and Annie Potts -- who play Georgie's mother, sister and grandmother, respectively.
At the Kids' Choice Awards, Jordan shared of the cast, "Well, who we have right now – and I can tell you this without getting fired -- is Mrs. Zoe Perry, Ms. Annie Potts and Ms. Raegan Revord."
According to the actor, he had to do an audition to land the role in the spinoff, and he made sure that his on-screen family members had to do the same. "I did my own audition, so I got them to audition for it this time," Jordan told ET. "They all did great, so they got the part."
Tumblr media
On Saturday, the show's executive producers, Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland, were tight-lipped on how and when the trio of integral ladies in Georgie's life will appear in the show, but shared that each will make a big splash in season 1.
The show also stars Rachel Bay Jones and Will Sasso as Mandy's parents, Audrey and Will, who are skeptical about her relationship with Georgie.

The Car Accident Permutation
A/N:I posted this like a week ago on FF.Net and forgot to post it here. Whoopsies. A dear friend of mine actually convinced me to finish this story after I said it was a lost cause. Thanks, babe.
It was one of those rare occasions where Sheldon was home alone. Leonard was spending the night with Penny, Amy had to work late, Raj and Howard were doing… whatever they do on a Friday night. And Sheldon found himself alone in his apartment with an evening free to do whatever he pleases.
At first he thought about playing a video game, however, the paper cut he gave himself earlier in the day rendered his thumb useless in the face of combat. He was caught up on all of his shows, plus it wouldn’t be nearly as fun without someone there for him to spoil the ending. Ultimately, he decided to get some work done on his computer. Write a couple of emails, edit a paper he was looking to publish, mundane work that Sheldon would typically reserve for his assistant who just so happened to be on vacation.
He worked peacefully in the quite for about a half an hour before the sound of his phone ringing jerked him from his concentration.
He could tell the call was local from the area code, but the number was unknown to him. At 9:30 PM he doubted it was work, plus the number would probably be in his contact list if it was. Deciding that it was just some undergrads pulling a prank on him, he ignored it.
He returned to his work briefly before his vibrated once again. Whoever was calling him decided to leave a voicemail. Sheldon didn’t even want to give them the light of day, however, if it was a prank call maybe he could use it against them at some point later on. Despite his better judgment, he swiped right on his phone to listen to the voicemail.
A female voice carried the through the speaker.
“Hello, Dr. Cooper, this is the Huntington Hospital emergency department calling on behalf of one Amy Fowler. She has you listed as her emergency contact, so, I was just calling to let you know that she was involved in a car accident this evening. She’s ok, just a couple of broken bones and some bruising. We’re going to release her here in about an hour and we just wanted to make sure she had someone to escort her home. I’m going to try calling her other emergency contacts, however if you get this message, please call back at (626)-798-5000. Thank you.”
Sheldon barely waited for the message to finish before rushing out the door and across the hall. He was sure that Amy had Penny down as her second emergency contact, third if she came after her mother, however, based on the commotion he could hear coming from 4B he assumed that Penny was indeed back up. Sheldon was just about to pound on the door when it swung open to reveal a very disheveled Leonard and Penny.
“You didn’t answer the phone, you dingus?!” Penny shouted at him, jabbing a finger his direction.
Sheldon shrugged as she moved around him towards the stairs. “I thought it was a prank call,” Sheldon defended, scrambling after his blonde neighbor as she flew down the stairs.
Sheldon all but chased Penny down the stairs, Leonard trying to keep up behind them. It wasn’t like Sheldon to feel so panicked. He usually reserved freak outs for being late to the movies or if Barry Kripke was within 100 feet of him. But there was something different coursing through his blood that he wasn’t used to. He’d felt it once, when his father had a heart attack and Georgie had to drive Sheldon and his sister to the hospital. It felt like something similar to that but more intense. A soul-crushing fear that made him want to just be paralyzed, but at the same time an adrenalin rush that pushed him to get to Amy as quickly as possible.
He didn’t know what that nurse was hopped up on, but a couple of broken bones and bruises was not nothing. At least not to him. So, for the first time in his existence, he did not tell Penny to slow down or be cautious of traffic laws. The only thing he could feel was an overwhelming desire, need, to get to Amy.
Later, Sheldon would blame that need as to why he jumped out of Penny’s car before she came to her screeching halt.
“Sheldon!” He briefly heard Penny call after him, he couldn’t care, not when he had a singular focus.
Through the sliding glass doors he ran, searching for the receptionist who snapped his head up upon Sheldon’s arrival.
“Name?” The receptionist asked politely, poising his hands, ready to type.
“I’m here to see Amy Fowler, I’m her emergency contact,” Sheldon rushed, out of breath.
The man behind the desk nodded his head in a silent form of understanding before typing quickly on his computer. “Sheldon Cooper?”
“Yes.”
“Alright, I need to see ID before I can let you through.” The young man behind the desk looked almost apologetic as Sheldon huffed in frustration, but pulled out his wallet anyway.
As the receptionist checked his ID, Leonard and Penny came up beside him. “Where is she?” Penny asked, a wild glint glazed over her eyes.
Before Sheldon could respond, the man handed Sheldon back his ID. “Room 14, through the double doors,” he said, pressing a button on his side of the desk, opening the large metal doors to his right.
Sheldon briefly thanked the man before pushing off the desk and running through the new opening. His eyes quickly scanned the new surroundings, looking for the aforementioned room 14. It was chaotic, typical for an ER. Constant beeping, nurses swirling around, briskly moving past him as if they knew he was going to be standing there. Despite the chaos, Sheldon could not find room 14.
He stopped a nurse who was carrying a wad of blankets into the room directly on his left. Room 1, where an elderly man was laid in the bed with his wife firmly holding his hand. “Where is room 14?”
The nurse turned to look politely up at him. “You must be the Sheldon Cooper Miss Fowler won’t stop talking about,” the young woman pondered, looking over him once and then twice. It startled him that the nurse not only knew his name, but that Amy talked about him enough for her to easily identify him. She chuckled slightly and maneuvered the linens in her arms to one side. “Go all the way to the end of the hall, turn left, room 14 is there on the right.”
“Thank you,” Sheldon uttered before blending in with the chaos. He too began to brush past nurses without casting a second glance, twisting and turning his way through the maze of the emergency room.
He could feel Penny standing too close to him as he slid the glass door of room 14 open. The curtain was drawn, protecting the security of it’s occupant, he bombarded his way through that too.
And there sitting on the bed was his girlfriend, peacefully scrolling through her phone. Upon the trio’s arrival, Amy dropped her phone to her lap and extended her right arm out towards her boyfriend. Sheldon made no move to get closer. He stood rooted in his spot at the doorway taking in Amy’s appearance. Her left arm was wrapped in a thick cast, paralyzed in a sling. Even through the thin white hospital gown, deep, dark purple bruising was visible near her ribcage. There was a small cut near the top of her head that had been stitched up and bandaged. She was a mess.
He heard Penny groan behind him before she rushed around him and to Amy’s bedside. “Ames, sweetie, what happened? Are you ok?” She asked as she gently took Amy’s uninjured hand in her own.
“I’m ok,” Amy responded, her voice shaky and uneven. “Now at least,” she mumbled, lowing her head back to the pillow.
Penny climbed into the bed next to Amy, ever so gently, wrapping her arms around the brunette’s shoulders. “What happened?”
“Guy ran a red light, hit me head on, on the driver’s side. Worst part is, he stayed to see if I was ok,” Amy paused to look spitefully at her injured arm. “Then when I mentioned that we needed to exchange information, he got all flighty and left.”
“Wait, so it was a hit and run?” Leonard asked from the corner of the room.
“Technically,” Amy shrugged, wincing in the process. She turned her eyes to Sheldon who was studying her carefully from the foot of her bed. “The crash wasn’t hard enough for the airbags to deploy, so I guess the guy thought he got off lucky.”
“Doesn’t matter,” Sheldon announced, finally breaking his silence. “You leave the scene of an accident without following the proper protocols given by the state, you’ve automatically incriminated yourself.”
Amy gulped as Sheldon piercing blue eyes bore into her. “I know and that’s exactly what the police said. Thankfully, the accident happened at an intersection, so, they’re going to pull the footage and see if they can get a plate.”
Penny pulled Amy closer to her, hugging her tightly to her chest. “I’m just glad you’re ok, I mean, it could have been much worse.”
Amy grimaced at the thought. “Yeah.”
With that a silence fell over the foursome, only the sounds of chaos from outside echoing into the room. Various machines beeping from patient room 16 next door, and the distant screaming of a lady in the waiting room. Typical sounds of the ER on a busy Friday night. Yet, still through it all, Amy and Sheldon found each other’s eyes once again. Piercing blue met striking green. Amy had never seen Sheldon look at her the way he looked at her from the end of her hospital bed. Not the night on the train, or the day of prom had Sheldon’s gaze consumed her whole. There at the end of her bed, he took her in, scanning every inch of her body. Looking for any cut he hadn’t seen before, any bruise he missed. Behind the deep gaze of worry there was love, the deep, all-consuming love, he hadn’t shown since prom. The love or the worry had him trembling, of which she was not sure.
Amy turned her head up to Penny. “Can I have a minute with Sheldon?” She asked quietly, her eyes basically pleading with her Bestie to comply.
Penny disengaged from her and squeezed her hand. “Of course. We’ll be right outside if you need anything.”
Sheldon watched Leonard and Penny disappear behind the curtain and the sliding glass door before he turned back to Amy. He bowed his head toward the bed, shuffling from one foot to the other. “Social convention dictates that I ask if you’re ok,” Sheldon said after a minute of silence.
Amy tilted her head at him. “We don’t follow social convention and you know it,” Amy said, not with an accusatory tone, but it was enough for Sheldon to look away from her. “Come sit with me.” She patted the bed where Penny had just vacated, motioning for him to join her.
Hesitantly he sat next to her, careful not to touch her, and not for the normal reason. He didn’t want to cause her anymore pain than he already knew she was feeling.
Amy on the other hand craved and needed that physical contact. The car accident had left her shaking, and even after the paramedics wrapped a blanket around her, the warmth of the wool couldn’t supply the comfort she needed. Even still, hours later, Amy could still feel that every nerve in her body was on high alert, she needed Sheldon to help ground her. To be her 0000. Bring her back to equilibrium.
Through the haze of medication and the lingering pain, Amy tugged on Sheldon’s shirt to bring him closer. She expected resistance from her physicist of a boyfriend, however, he came to her easily. They were now touching, but still Sheldon made no move to hold her.
“Sheldon?” she beckoned him. “Isn’t it also social convention that the boyfriend complies to the girlfriend’s wishes in her time of need?”
Sheldon furrowed his eyebrows. “I thought you just said we don’t do that?”
Amy shrugged with her good shoulder. “I did, but you’re not one to turn it down if I point it out to you.”
“Curse you,” Sheldon replied, jokingly. “And what would be my girlfriend’s wish during her time of need?” He asked, keeping up his playful façade.
Amy leaned into him, playfully nudging him with her good shoulder. “Well, according to the relationship agreement, when one party is sick and or physically impaired the other is required to take care of them.”
He raised his eyebrow, playing along with her. “So?”
“And at this moment I find myself craving human intimacy and physical contact.”
Sheldon knew what she was refencing, his outstanding memory wouldn’t let him forget; but if she was about to offer what he thinks she was about to offer, he was going to call her doctor to come get her a brain scan. “Amy, if you’re suggesting that we-“
She interrupted him before the words could leave his mouth, “I just want you to hold me, Sheldon,” She pleaded, her good arm outstretched for him once again.
He recalled that night, where she had been saddened by Penny and Bernadette’s callous actions and she got him to cuddle with her. At the time he said he was strong-armed into it; however, he would be lying to himself if he didn’t look back on it fondly. That was different, he reasoned with himself. He wasn’t in love with her then, and she didn’t have bruises painted all over her body.
The way she looked at him, begging him with her eyes to be held, tore at his heart. Her pain reflected onto him and without hesitation, he shifted to lie next to her. She adjusted herself as well, putting weight onto her good side so that he could cradle her body in his arms. One arm went under her head so she could use it as a pillow while his other hand rested at the dip of waist. Amy settled into him, sighing contentedly as she took in his scent.
Sheldon could feel the way her muscles relaxed under his fingers as she tried desperately to get as close to him as possible. Pulling Amy’s head to rest on his chest, his hand intertwined in her hair trying to detangle the mangled mane.
Amy eventually fell asleep, but Sheldon wouldn’t budge. Nope, there was no way in hell he was moving from his spot. Even if he wanted to, she probably wouldn’t let him considering she had him in a death grip.
Just as he was reaching for the remote to turn the light above the bed off, a soft knock came from the sliding glass door. Sheldon held up his finger to silence Leonard as he entered the room.
His roommate smiled at the scene. “Hey, I just wanted to let you know, they’re going to release her soon,” he said quietly, coming to stand next to Sheldon.
“Ok,” Sheldon whispered, barely audible.
“We’ll be out in the waiting room if you need anything,” Leonard said, retreating back to the door.
“Wait,” Sheldon stopped him. “Can you run home and pack me an overnight bag? I want to stay with her tonight.”
Leonard smiled again, proud that Sheldon was going to such lengths to take care of his girlfriend. “Of course.”
With that, his roommate made his exit and once again he was alone with Amy. It felt like liquid relief was washed over him now that he knew she would be ok. If only she knew how worried he was. He wasn’t going to let her out of his sight now.
He watched her sleep like it was the most mesmerizing thing. He noted how his mouth hung open slightly, little puffs of breath being released against his chest. Every so often the fingers in her cast would twitch against his side, tickling him slightly. Sheldon was so relaxed he almost drifted off as well, but he shook himself awake. Wanting to make sure nothing could hurt her.
After a few minutes, Amy began to mumble in her sleep. Mostly incoherent thoughts that he couldn’t really follow, until the faintest of whispers escaped her lips. So quiet he almost missed it. “I love you, Sheldon.”
He pressed his lips to the top of her head, gently so as to not disturb her head wound. He mumbled his promise into her hair, and even though she couldn’t hear it, it solidified it for him. “I love you too. I’m going to take care of you, I promise.”
A/N: It’s cheesy, I know. Sorry guys
