Mariinka. Once a homely lively town in the East of Ukraine.
Then Russians came and "protected it from the Nazis".
#ukraine#war#ukraine vs russia#russia is a terrorist state#russian invasion of ukraine#russia ukraine conflict#war crimes#genocide#terrorism#btw the conus-like hills you can see on the top-left photo are spoil tips#we call them terricons#from the French 'terril conique'#they are piles built of accumulated spoil – waste material removed during mining#East of Ukraine is very rich on many minerals and so was a mining Wonderland of Ukraine#terricons are everywhere and you probably cant imagine the size from that photo but they are so big like small mountains#many of them are old and got covered with plants and bushes already so they literally are like mountains#I grew up with them around everywhere once you come out of city#and although I never visited Mariinka myself it was just 2 h by car from whete I lived and I heard about it a lot#it is especially painful seeing that familiar to the heart terricons and this level of destruction everywhere around them#when before East was the most industrialized and busy-body part of Ukraine#it was also most comfortable for living
