Hey! I hate to ask this, you already do so much for us! But would you mind just a tiny recap of Vlamis’ live from last night? You don’t have to go into a ton of detail or anything, I just saw that it was a half hour long. I have a weird anxiety thing that keeps me from watching lives and stories for the most. Still haven’t even been able to work myself up to watching the vlamburn one as much as I’d love to! 🙁

Either way, thank you for everything!

800 new follower lately “where have you been before?”

“Do you do anything to your hair at night?” He adds Moroccan hair oil in the morning, nothing at night.

“What’s your favorite of the drop?” He hasn’t seen everything from the drop (like the COSMIC tie-dye) bc he’s in Santa Fe. He loves the COSMIC and MALEX embroidered things (“so subtle”) bc they are in Vlamburn’s handwriting, he loves the Manesqueeze shirt bc you can make Alex and Michael kiss by putting your wrists together. He *loves* the candle (there’s one burning on his bedside table), the silky PJs are great, but he can’t decide on just one favorite thing.

“How’s Jesa’s sanity?” She needs like 3 weeks of sleep. He explains, that while we *are* the Vlambase, the Vlambase merch company’s just Jesa and Vlamis. Jesa has a team, but all the day-to-day things, ideas, emails/customer service (Jesa), the newsletter (Vlamis). They hadn’t collaborated with anyone before Tyler, so working with him was a new experience.

One fan mentions how they wanted to buy stuff but couldn’t. Vlamis says that he’s been there, and when he wanted something in the past he couldn’t afford, he started putting away a Dollar a day.

“Thought on One Direction?” Vlamis is a Harry Styles guy. “Harry Styles’ swagger is next level!”

“What do you think about Russia? Will Vlambase merch be available here?” Talks a bit about how annoying things are with shipping companies, says they wanted to protect themselves for the holidays, and now that the Christmas rush is over, some shipping options have become available again.

“Who came up with MANESQUEEZE” He ponders about it, and settles on Jesa. It was Vlamis’s ides to put tiny Alex and tiny Michael on the sleeves so that they can kiss tho. And Tyler came up with the idea to put a “toupee” on his head (in a previous drop, the NEVER LOOK AWAY design had tiny Alex and tiny Michael on the sleeves, but poor Alex was bald) for the design.

Someone got a MALEX pin and the candle. He knows the pin sold out fast, and he feels bad about that. They want everyone to get everything they want, but it’s difficult to make proper calculations how well an item will sell. The pandemic made things even harder. Like the PJ sets. Normally, they would wait until the sale ends and see how many sets were actually ordered, but during the pandemic, stock listings have been changing dramatically from day to day, so they had to pre-order the PJs and robes to make sure they had a certain number at their disposal. He said that they “overshot” on a couple of things, but ultimately sales have been great, and he appreciates that.

“I’m excited to make the MANESQUEEZE doodles kiss bc I do that with the NEVER LOOK AWAY shirt” Vlamis jumps up and shows his closet that’s full of Vlambase merch items.

“Why am I here, it’s almost 3am” He mentions that he’s been staying up until 4 in the past couple of days, but he has to be on set in 7 or 8 hours.

“Hello, just wanted to let you know that I got a tattoo for you” Vlamis asks for a photo and to be tagged.

“Kyle the packer [Vlamis’s roomie KA, who works in the warehouse when a new drop is ready for shipping]” Vlamis says they’re working him to death.

“Please save this live” He doesn’t know whether he’ll save it. Thinks the one with Tyler was important, but since it’s just him, he doesn’t think it’s important.

“I followed Jesa, Jesa is the real MVP” Vlamis says that Jesa is “a beast, and best in the game”. Quickly explains who Jesa is, and that she’s his partner in the Vlambase merch company. He mentions that she recently called him with an idea for Valentine’s Day, and he was like “Jesa, we need to relax!” But she loved the idea. She’s a big fan of RNM and the characters (and Tyler). “Jesa’s amazing.”

“What about new Soli art [Soli’s the artist who created the Boys Will Be Boys art for a previous drop]?” Vlamis smiles. “What about new Soli art. I like that idea. 😏“

“Your house [in New Mexico] is so cute.” Vlamis says thank you and shows the ceiling of the house (which he likes best). “Santa Fe is dope!”

“I adore your teeth” *shows his teeth* Says he had to wear braces (some even adjustable)

“I could’ve used my birthday money to buy something but I forgot” 🤨 << Vlamis’s face. “How you you forget, man?”

“Back to Twitter after this live” He mentions that he’d just been on Twitter before the live.

He got retweeted by Mountain Dew and loves it.

“I’m from Australia and hope my merch arrives before winter” Vlamis says he hopes shipping will be fast.

“Love the Valentines” They’re not actually Valentines, hence they’re “Love Notes”. Vlamis considers doing them not just around Valentine’s Day.

“You catch any of the CW shows returning this month?” “Might have to” But he knows what he’ll be catching on the 12th. “Prodigal Son, baby!”

“Where did you get the Game Boys?” Those are his Game Boys. He has a Game Boy Advanced and a Game Boy Color.

“How do you feel about Forlex?” *scoffs* 😒 “Yeah”

“So excited for the robe!” Vlamis gets excited. “The robes and the PJs are so comfy!” Talks about how it’s a bit weird, bc they don’t make them themselves.

Several people mention that their closet looks like his closet bc of all the merch and he loves that.

“How do you feel about Forlex” *gets agitated* “Why are you asking me this? Don’t do that to me, alright?” *softer* “Don’t do that.”

“How are you doing?” He’s doing very well. Very relieved that eh sale went well. This drop was like 3-4 months of work, the night before the sale felt like an entire month, too. Jesa and Vlamis Facetimed for more than 5hrs. They set up the website, and that’s how the glitch with the GIVE ME MALEX OR GIVE ME DEATH shirts and poster happened. They made a mistake and only noticed after the website went live.

“Do you know when S3 will air?” No, he thought it might’ve been sooner, but apparently not.

“I love your poetry from the last drop so why no poems this time?” He writes poems when he’s inspired, he hasn’t written a poem in a while. He’s currently preparing to direct his first movie in June 2021, and he’s been very focused on that.

“The Meet & Greet day changed.” Filming schedule changed bc they had snow, the schedule’s changing constantly. He’ll be set all day tomorrow (well, today, Jan 11) from 8am until 8 or 9pm. Sometimes they might even wake up in the morning and learn that the schedule’s been changed.

“You could talk about nothing and we’d still watch.�� He doesn’t want to talk about nothing, wonders if anyone has any questions about the sale.

“I’m so excited about the robe. I was going to buy more but I’m broke.” He says we should be responsible.

Someone’s still waiting about their Black Friday stuff, but he says it’s the shipping company, not them.

“Vlamentines" He *loves* that, thinks it’s a good pun.

“Gotta support Aurora.” Always. 🥰

“Jealous Guerin in S3?” You’ll see, you’ll see.

“I placed 3 orders, last one last night. Give me Malex or give me death.” He loves it. He also mentions, that they’re working hard on figuring out how to combine orders in the future so people don’t have to pay for shipping several times. They just can’t do that logistically at the moment.

“Real talk, how often do you check your DMs?” He says, that some people might’ve noticed that he occasionally likes random photos on people’s IG pages. When that happens, it’s a sign that he read someone’s DM. He feels bad when he checks his mentions with a delay, and people’s stories have already vanished after 24hours. He sometimes doesn’t get to checking DMs for a week.

“Will we ever get the original pic of the kiss recreation?” *smiles* *waggles his eyebrows* “Maybe in the morning”

“So happy the Trevor Project was chosen for this merch drop!” He’s very happy, too. According to him, it was a no-brainer. Tyler’s worked with them in the past, so it made even more sense. They wanted to make sure that Tyler felt very strongly about wherever they’d be donating.

People urge him to go to sleep. “You want me to go to bed?”

“Why is your merch not available in India?” *deep breath* “It should be, it’s ridiculous. Unbelievable.”

“Your poetry was awesome.” He appreciates the praise and promises to write some more poetry.

Someone asks whether the movie he’ll be directing in June will be a comedy, but he says it’s the opposite. He’s mentioned in the past that Aurora and him will both act in the movie, but apparently he forgot about that. He doesn’t want to jinx the movie and doesn’t know how much he should reveal just yet. Talks a bit about 5 Years Apart.

Someone mentions that it’s Jeanine’s birthday on January 14th.

“Do (or don?) a face mask, Vlamis.” He refuses. Mentions his friend and roommate Spencer Waldner, who makes face masks.

“If there’s leftover merch, will you do another sale?” He says that most things are actually sold out bc they use Blank Clo’s blanks and will only make what’s been ordered. They might try to restock some pins tho, bc they went so quickly.

“USPS are a joke” He defends them. “They’re a public service, they’re trying hard, guys.”

“You should do a Vlambase drop with the Real Vlamis [a.k.a. Jeanie]” He’s excited and thinks it’s a good idea and asks if anyone’d be interested.

Someone congratulates him on directing his first movie. He points out that he’s directed before (Making It, a 3-part web series, it’s on YouTube).

“Would you ever come to Australia Comic Con?” He’d love to. Mentions that he’s supposed to be in Paris in May for a convention, but he’s not sure whether that’s gonna happen considering how things are currently going with the pandemic.

Some more talk about 5 Years Apart.

Circles back to doing a merch drop with Jeanine. People like the idea.

“Please save this live.” After an IG update, things have changed and he doesn’t know how to do it. In the past he had the option to save it [for 24hrs], now he can only upload it to IGTV.

“$30 shipping to Australia hurts my soul but I did it anyway.” He appreciates that and mentions, that he lived in Australia for 6 months in the past.

“Sing some Bright Eyes” He thinks his singing would hurt people’s ears.

Jesa Joy pops up in the chat and urges him to go to bed.

“Jesa is yelling at you.” Vlamis says that Jesa’s a “yeller”, and that she has a tattoo that says “Don’t yell tho”. He admits that Jesa often yells for a good reason. “I need to be yelled at sometimes.”

Someone asks him to accept a request to join his live. He says he’s pretty tired.

He says hello to someone from Germany (not me btw :P) “What’s up, Germany ✌️”

More people ask him to sing, but he says he cannot sing. He says it’s not like a joke or him being modest, he straight up can’t sing and is a horrible singer.

“Will there be a sequel to 5 Years Apart?” Maybe a sequel called “10 Years Apart” (he’s joking and visibly tired)

“Should I buy anything before the sale ends?” Yes.

Jesa Joy’s from Michigan, and Vlamis’s grandma’s from Middlesborough, Kentucky.

“Is Tyler singing again?” He doesn’t know. “I hope so. Love that kid’s voice” (Tyler’s 3.5 years older than Vlamis :P)

He’s getting sleepy and will read a little bit before bed. Considers drinking some Mountain Dew.

“Do you take design ideas.” Sure. Sometimes he sees design ideas from people they’ve been working on for months, but he’s gonna “steal” an idea from someone, he’ll tell them. He’ll steal it, though.

“Are you still reading SAGA?” He read the first one and is half-way through the second. He’s currently reading a book called “My First Movie” by Stephen Lowenstein. “How cliché.” Aurora got it for him.

Purple Skittles are his favorite. Purple everything.

“Your girlfriend’s the best girlfriend.” She is, she really is.

Asks Jesa Joy whether he should go to bed now.Even though it’s late, he’s hungry. Considers eating something. People tell him to go to bed.

He asks “Should I get naked and put on the PJs?” *waggles eyebrows* “I’M KIDDING, YOU’RE SICK. YOU’RE ALL DISGUSTING.” xD

“Don’t eat!” He laughs.

Says goodbye and says that Jesa’s posted a surprise picture.

“Any advice for aspiring actors?” Tells them to make their own stuff bc no one’s gonna hire them. (He’s being sarcastic). “It’s dark, but it’s what you need to hear.”

“Okay, love you guys. Thank you again! It was our best sale yet. Means a lot to me. Means a lot to Tyler. Us doing so well might mean that Tyler will work with us again. So I really appreciate it. Okay, I love you all.”

Jesa promises to post the pic in 4 minutes. He’s excited. “See, I got her to do it! The picture is kind of ridiculous.”

*pretends to take off his shirt, stops halfway through* “Noooooo, noooooo, noooooo!”

*throws kiss* “Love you guys, good night.”

Comic Give-away/Raffle!!

Howdy, folks!!

Today I’ve got a little surprise for ya’! I happen to have a healthy little collection of Pinky and the Brain comics. All that you see here are doubles of ones I’ve already got -- 11 official comics that Warner Bros. produced, and 1 very special fan-made comic!

Below is a list of all the official comics I’m giving away (in order from top to bottom and from left to right in the first photo):

The special comic is a fan-made release by artist Natsu-Nori, who is probably the best Pinky and the Brain fan artist I know. Her work is astounding -- very adorable and on-model. The comic is a collection of mini stories she did. This is all the way from Japan and was one of the few English versions out there (I basically got what was left), so you’re not gonna get this anywhere else. I have my own copy of this comic, of course, and, yes, it’s awesome.

Yes, I am giving all of these away. You won’t have to pay a cent for the copy you win. I shall take responsibility for ALL shipping and handling costs.

To qualify for the raffle, please take note:

- You MUST be a Pinky and the Brain and/or Animaniacs fan and leave a comment on this post via your Animaniacs/PatB fan account. Reblogging the post and replying to it DOES NOT count; you must comment on the original post. No exceptions. I should be able to browse through your blog a couple pages back and still see Animaniacs/PatB content. I am not giving these away to just anyone. You’ve gotta be a fan of one or both shows (preferably PatB). This goes for friends of mine, as well. Y’all gotta abide by the same rules, even if I know you’re a ravid Pinky and the Brain fanatic.

- You can only put your name in/comment once. If anyone is caught entering their name in two or more times using multiple accounts, you will be automatically excluded from the raffle. (Please don’t do this, you guys.)

2. Selection Process

This post will remain up for one week. Raffle will end next Tuesday, August 11th, at 11:59 PM PST. Once the time is up, I shall gather all the names submitted and put them into an online Random Name Selector/Picker. I’ll then roll the random generator for each comic, in order of release. One person will get comic #3, another #4, et cetera until I’ve gone through all the comics, including the fan book. If I roll the same person twice, I’ll reroll until I get a different name. Every person will get one comic only, unless less than 12 people enter the raffle, as I have 12 comics total. We’re gonna keep it as fair and square as possible. You cannot request that your name gets put in the generator for a particular issue. It will be a random selection. It’s a mystery as to which issue you’ll end up winning!

3. Winner Announcement

All winners will be announced on Wednesday, August 12th, at 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM PST. Winners will be tagged and sent a message in their inbox. Please note that you must be willing to share your address with me if you win. This can be a personal address, P.O. box, or business address. All personal information will be kept confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside of myself and, quite possibly, my boyfriend who may help with packaging.

Tampa Bay Lightning: 2020 Stanley Cup Champions

After last season's shocking first round sweep and playoff exit, Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois knew some changes had to made in order to have a better result the next time his team qualified for the postseason.

BriseBois didn't want to blow up the core of the team that had been in place for a number of seasons. And changes to the coaching staff didn't make sense either.

Instead, BriseBois identified three areas his team would have to get better in order to achieve their ultimate goal of lifting the Stanley Cup.

The Lightning needed to reduce the number of quality chances against. That meant, protecting the slot more robustly and reducing the number of minor penalties the team took.

They needed to battle harder and be more physical, whether by having more of a net-front presence or winning more puck battles.

And, finally, they needed to manage the game better.

"And we did that," BriseBois said. "And because we did, we were a better team."

The Lightning made additions during the offseason to achieve their goals. They brought in Curtis McElhinney to be the backup goaltender even though they had a backup goalie on the roster in Louis Domingue because McElhinney gave them cost certainty at the position for two seasons with a salary cap crunch looming. They added Luke Schenn and Kevin Shattenkirk to their blueline. Schenn provided a veteran, physical presence that proved particularly effective in playoff series against Boston and the New York Islanders. Shattenkirk fell into the Lightning's lap after his contract was bought out by the New York Rangers. He partnered well with Mikhail Sergachev and aided in the youngster's development as a standout on the blueline. He also gave the Lightning some scoring punch and was invaluable in the locker room.

And at forward, the Lightning brought in Pat Maroon, who won a Stanley Cup the previous season with his hometown St. Louis Blues and knew what it took to manage the ups and downs of an extended playoff run.

"Both Kevin and Pat Maroon we signed with them bringing some leadership to our group in mind," BriseBois said. "They still both managed to exceed my expectations in terms of how much they brought to our locker room, how much they brought to our team both on and off the ice. Not that my expectations were low, they still found a way to manage to exceed my expectations. They were key contributors to our team, and they may have been exactly what we needed. It's nice when things work out."

The 2019-20 regular season certainly didn't go off without a hitch. The Lightning slogged their way through the first two months of the season. By mid-December, they were well out of a playoff spot and sixth in the Atlantic Division behind teams like Florida, Montreal and Buffalo.

But from December 23 through February 17, when the team capped a franchise record 11-game win streak with a 4-3 overtime victory in Colorado, the Lightning went 23-2-1, moved to within a point of the Boston Bruins for first place overall in the NHL and firmly established themselves as a playoff team and a top contender for the Stanley Cup.

More than that, however, the aspects of their game BriseBois laid out at the beginning of the season the Lightning would need to be successful come playoff time came to fruition. Over a stretch from the beginning of the 2020 calendar year to that win in Denver, the Lightning didn't allow more than three goals in a single contest and became one of the League's best teams defensively and in managing the puck, their 1.77 goals against average over that stretch tops in the League.

"All in all, we had a good team, and the numbers kind of support that," BriseBois said.

At the trade deadline, BriseBois had an opportunity to upgrade his already dangerous team. He identified a need for a couple of forwards that could fit into their top nine. And he needed another right-shot defenseman, especially with long-term injuries to Jan Rutta and Ryan McDonagh.

"I thought we could really benefit from adding two forwards that were going to be hard to play against, bring some size, bring some snarl, some sandpaper," BriseBois said. "And we were really good defensively. We're trying to improve our team defensively at that point and be harder to play against."

The Lightning traded for Blake Coleman and Barclay Goodrow to augment the forward group. The price to acquire them was steep - collectively, the Lightning gave up two first round draft picks in 2020 and prized prospect Nolan Foote - but BriseBois said he couldn't pass up the opportunity to add two players who could step into the lineup immediately and make an impact at the expense of future assets that might or might not pan out on the NHL level.

"My mindset at that point was to be very aggressive in the pursuit of the pieces that I believed could give us a strong push forward," BriseBois said. "It wasn't just about adding depth to our team, it was about making our team better, all the while keeping an eye on next season and trying to make sure that we remain a competitive team year in and year out. We were also looking at players that we could potentially add to our group that had good contracts going forward and that made adding Blake Coleman and Barclay Goodrow all the more attractive to us."

And with Bogosian, the Lightning were looking to bring in a right-shot defenseman anyway, and when the veteran defenseman in his 12th season in the league became available after having his contract terminated by Buffalo, he became the best option.

Plus, as a free agent, he didn't require the forfeiture of any assets to get him, and the Lightning had enough room under the cap to sign him.

"Picking up Zach Bogosian certainly ended up being a key decision I think in our success because he was an important player for us on the ice," BriseBois said.

Once the new additions joined the team, the Lightning's play dipped a bit as they worked to integrate the pieces into their puzzle. But that's where the four-month pause might have benefited the Lightning more than any other team because they were able to assimilate the new players into the group during the down time and then they were basically able to have a training camp with the team during the two-week camp before the team left for the bubble in Toronto.

"I have to give credit to our players, their commitment to winning this season, it never waned," BriseBois said. "I was continually in touch with them (during the pause). They were continuously in touch with our director of sport performance Mark Lambert, and they stayed on top of their conditioning. They also did a great job staying at home and eliminating their risk of getting the COVID virus."

Once in the playoffs, the Lightning quickly established themselves as the tournament's most dominant team. The five overtime win in Game 1 of the First Round versus Columbus was a breakthrough for the team, giving them confidence after what happened against the same team the year prior. And then the Bolts got better and better as the playoffs moved along, overcoming injuries and bad bounces to lift the Cup at the end following a six-game series against the Dallas Stars in the Cup Final, the culmination of over two months inside the bubble in what could arguably be considered the most difficult Stanley Cup Playoffs ever contested.

"I am in awe of what our guys accomplished. I am in awe of how deep they had to dig physically and mentally in order for us to fly back to Tampa with the Cup," BriseBois said. "It was, being able to witness it up close, it was awesome, it was awe-inspiring, it was just so incredible what they did. I'm going to get my name engraved on the Stanley Cup and I was honored to be nominated for GM of the year, but that has a lot more to do with the work of our players, the work and the sacrifices of our players and our staff and our coaches then it does with me. I am truly appreciative and grateful for everything that they've done. It is not lost on me that I am the beneficiary of all their hard work and sacrifices. And now as (Lightning head coach Jon Cooper) says, we get to walk together forever as the 2020 Stanley Cup champions."

Now that the season is over, the reality is the team the Lightning put on the ice in Game 6 against Dallas will be different from the one that begins the 2020-21 regular season, whenever that is. A flat salary cap and a number of players either beginning new contracts next season or coming off entry-level contracts and due a raise means that some key members of the team's core will probably have to move on this offseason.

"Even though I would like to bring this whole group back together so we could try to defend our championship and that would be my preference if I got to choose what I would want to do is bring everyone back as is and we try to defend our title, the reality is I can't do that," BriseBois said. "The cap just doesn't allow that to happen. It never does for any team. There's always some turnover, and this year the turnover is going to require that some of our players that have been here for a while and just helped us win a championship aren't going to be returning."

BriseBois said signing Mikhail Sergachev, Anthony Cirelli and Erik Cernak to new contracts is a priority. All three of those players are coming off their entry-level deals.

"(They) haven't really entered their prime yet, and they're going to allow us to continue to be a good team going forward for many years," BriseBois said.

BriseBois said he doesn't expect to have to buy out anyone's contract. And he has an ongoing dialogue with players to keep them in the loop about what or when decisions will be made.

"I think it's important for everyone to get a chance to properly celebrate this championship as a team with their teammates," BriseBois said. "I wish I didn't have to have the types of conversations I'm going to have to have as soon as I will. But it's just the reality of our business. Ultimately, it's in their best interest too. The sooner they know, the better for them as well."

As for Steven Stamkos, the Lightning captain played just one game in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, that coming in Game 3 of the Cup Final when he scored a goal on his third shift of the game and first shot but wasn't able to continue after 2:47 of ice time, forever immortalizing himself in Cup lore for his effort in an abbreviated appearance.

BriseBois said Stamkos had sports hernia surgery on March 2 and was progressing well through Phase 2 of the team's return to play but suffered a new injury where his body was overcompensating for the sports hernia, which is why he wasn't able to play until so late in the playoffs and then for only such a short amount of time.

But BriseBois reiterated Stamkos is not expected to miss the start of next season's training camp and should be fully recovered once that starts.

"The whole pandemic certainly didn't help his cause because it was hard to, you couldn't send him anywhere to go see specialists," BriseBois said. "If he goes out of the bubble, now he's got to quarantine again. What's the trade off? He wants to be around the team. We want him around the team. It certainly complicated matters, and I will know more next week (when Stamkos sees a specialist)…But we're talking about weeks of rehab and not months of rehab, and we fully expect him to be ready for the start of training camp whenever that will be."

••• BEFORE THE TAROT: OVERALL HISTORY ABOUT SOME PLANETARY INFO. OCCURRING NOW VS. PAST PANDEMICS IN HISTORY:•••

• Now, the reason why this time is so important, it’s right after the alignment of many planets that just occurred, (also: at the same time as the Neowise Comet); & the last time these planetary alignments happened, it was similar in nature to what occurred with past pandemics in history, over the Centuries!

••• MOST IMPORTANT planetary similarity is: •••

A) Jupiter & Pluto were in a conjunction pattern with each other= what this means is, Jupiter, & Pluto are side by side very close to each other in the sky for a period of time. There are 3 times that this same pattern have & will continue to occur in this year of 2020, always in the sign of Capricorn: 1) April 4th (4/4); 2) June 30th; & lastly 3) Nov. 12th.

B) & Saturn, & Pluto also have been in conjunction= They have been traveling in close proximity all year. It began on Jan. 12th that Saturn-Pluto went into conjunction, (when Covid was first introduced into the U.S.) & then in April, (when the first major spike of Covid happened), it just moved into the sign of Capricorn= which represents, Government, structures & the economy, so this alliance of planets, is already revealing its “footprint”.

• JUPITER represents global connections, & expands everything it touches. In Roman mythology, Jupiter (Zeus to the ancient Greeks) is the god of all gods -- the ruler of the sky & thunder! VS.

• PLUTO: In mythology, Pluto (or Hades to the Greeks), was the god of the underworld. Astrological lore contends that Pluto rules all things hidden-- from viruses to government conspiracies. This shadowy sign governs death, rebirth, & transformation that “rises form the ashes.” SO...

• During a Jupiter-Pluto conjunction (meetup), heaven & hell essentially come together... (& these conjunctions occur every 13 years.) What history has shown us during past astrological cycles, when Jupiter & Pluto were side-by-side as a pandemic broke out:

• 1) 1918 Flu Pandemic (The Spanish Flu) : Jupiter & Pluto in the sign of Cancer. The 1st of 2 pandemics caused by the H1N1 influenza virus.

• 2) The 2nd H1N1 influenza virus pandemic: Swine Flu (2009) Jupiter & Pluto were in Capricorn, when it first broke out.

• 5) The Black Death of 14th Century Europe: Jupiter & Pluto were in Aries. 50 million people across Europe perished, since this original Bubonic plague was orig. transmitted through rats, & the fleas that bit the rats, gave it to humans, when they in turn bit the humans.

Aquarius rules large populations, & Pisces is associated w hospitals & illness. The faster we address an outbreak, the better we’ll be able to contain it.••

•• IMP. TO NOTE: For context, it takes Pluto ~247 yrs. to return to each astrology sign. Pluto was last in Capricorn when the United States was founded. It returned here in 2008, & will move to the next sign in 2024. This has been a time that’s brought massive Plutonian transformation & shakeups to Capricorn-ruled areas of Government & economy.

The Ace of Hearts here, I believe, reps everyone’s opening up to an awareness of what do they really WANT or DESIRE (LOVE to do) in this lifetime that would be their ultimate dream, or make them happy. =

• I actually feel this period will take us through the Summer, ( a period of 9 wks), & into the beg. of Sept. Also, the Ace of Hearts (or Cups) stands for the season of Summer. So, the focus feels like it’s going to be on this throughout the Summer, into Sept.

First of all, it’s important when you are using a deck you have just gotten (a deck you have not used before, & don’t know the symbolism, let’s say), you are not familiar with the way the cards are drawn for each card. ie) In this deck, it almost feels like there’s a “Wheel of Fortune” (Higher Life lesson card) on her head, as part of her hat= which is interesting... since the “Wheel” usually refers to the Wheel of Life, & where we all are at on it... here, it seems we’re continuing to question this...

• First of all, the Pentacles as a suit, rep. the time of Earth, and the next time that starts a time of Earth, is in the astrological time of Virgo (Aug. 23rd - Sept 22nd). So, this person, place or thing, coming across our paths, feels like it will occur during this time. In this situation, since I asked for the human collective my orig. question, I feel this reps Earth (Mother Earth). But just to see, I clarified this with another card... (see below):

• Our 3rd Card: is the card representing the energy that will be Immed. Besides being a marker confirming what time we’re speaking about, Strength is actually a Higher Life lesson card that asks us to “tame” the beast=the Lion, which reps. our lower instinctual nature vs. staying true to our Higher selves, & higher purposes, during this time. We’re also asked to overcome any lower behavior, or to strive to work on these challenges we all have, esp. during these times of major change happening around us.

The time of The Tower (which is a Higher Life lesson) shows us things that are unexpected, & at times situations where we are tested. The key message is: to hang in there, and continue moving through this time of grey, & the unknown. - We will get through it, even though it doesn’t look like that at ALL right now...

• Our 5th Card: is the card representing the energy of Difficulties in the Past (the card underneath the Celtic Cross)= what energy or who may have affected you along your way (many yrs. ago in the past)=

• NOTE: By the time the card that lands here hits this placement, it usually is showing us how far we have come w the issue at hand vs. where we were at in comparison a very long time ago. ie) In this instance, because this is a human collective reading & not a personal reading, I feel this period of 7 correlates to when this pandemic orig. came into our lives= 7 months ago...

• This card usually reps being defensive /possibly fighting off, or fighting for a person, thing or situation even. Here, it shows a person, (Us as a people) taking a stand for what we believe in, during these tough times, & standing up against obstacles, &/or challenges (the 7 of wands are sticking up at him). = these can be w/ regards to many things: each wand is a separate issue: ie) Keeping healthy during Covid; Political protests supporting Black Lives Matter; Dealing w a Gov’t that didn’t & isn’t helping the pandemic by denying its’ existence; Loss of our jobs; etc.

• A personal visual I found interesting that’s in the drawing of this card, in this particular deck (my opinion)= He is a warrior that is fighting through it all, & even has a shield to protect himself with= showing he’s def. ready for the fight ahead! This is showing hope for continuing to move forward.

• Our 6th Card: is the card representing the Last of the Present / = (the card on the Left of the Celtic Cross)= What Just Occurred rt. before the reading: Here, this Queen reps the time of Water (just like the Ace & 9 of Hearts/Cups, because she is of the Cups suit); & she correlates to the recent past, & to the time of Cancer. (which just ended.)

• This feels like for many people it became very clear, that we all may have to think differently about what else (other abilities we may have), or we can do to make a living; but the key thing was to think of something we ENJOY/LOVE also doing! (not just doing anything...)

• So, my personal belief is it started this way, thinking with regards to work, & this forced us to look at what was/is it that makes us happy? If you already ARE living your dream, this is fabulous!- but then you were being asked “How can you continue to do what you do, make a living still, & have an impact on others, during this challenging time?” =

•=This is what the Queen of Hearts (Cups) asks of us... Because it’s asking questions of the human collective & of Earth, we as a human collective, are showing up as a Queen here, with these concerns/thoughts. The gender doesn’t matter here, being the female (Queen vs. this being a King) since it really isn’t about gender per se in Tarot, it’s more the energy behind the feeling. Because it’s a bit more receptive energy, it’s showing up as a female, & as this Queen.

• Our 7th Card: is the card representing the First of the Future = (the card on the Right of the Celtic Cross)= What Will Occur rt. after the reading:

Here, the 7 of Pents, I feel, reps. a period of 7 days, (since it’s an immediate period of time), & for the week ahead. The 7 of Pents asks us to pause and look back at the last period of time we are coming from, & if we have made progress. It’s a time of self-assessment, if you will. It also is a time to re-think before moving forward. The number 7 is also a reflective, going-within time, & it will set us up for the beginning of August. (literally ~Aug. 1st).

• Our 8th Card: is the card representing the Future Environment=

• Here, this is the 2nd card in the Tarot deck that reps the astrological sign of Leo- (July 23rd - Aug. 22nd) So, it is re-stating, that this future environment time period will be occurring RIGHT as it turns into August 2020.

• Also, The Sun (as a Higher Life lesson) is one that stands for several things:

• 1) Things that may have been hidden, will now come into light (or are exposed); • 2) partnerships of all kinds become more significant (business & in the area of love), • 3) It also finds you more clear & in control, & able to direct your mental energy. You’re able to develop great sensitivity towards all form of life & expand your awareness.

••NOTE: With regards to world issues: I feel there def. will be some significant reveals or information that is finally exposed (re: our Gov’t right now) that will be happening esp. during this time. ••

• Our 9th Card: is the card representing the Influences from the Outside=

• Here, it’s interesting the imagery in this deck!! She almost looks like she’s running FROM the world, or holding it back!.. OK, so on an instantaneous level, I am feeling like mostly this card has to deal w the real-life issue of being in a World health crisis, obviously.

• I also find it interesting that the building in the background, looks like our monuments in Washington, that stand for our Liberty & Justice! (the Courthouse too...)

• But “The World” is also a Higher Life lesson card & reps. the ending of one cycle, to make way for a new one. Even though this is the imagery on this particular deck, The World card usually speaks about everything is moving according to an intended arrangement. “Your destiny unfolds at its proper pace as you constantly move towards the goals of your lifetime.”

• Also, w this slow & steady movement, the cosmos gives us time in which to actualize our destinies.

•• BECAUSE THIS WAS BRINGING IN WORLD ISSUES (showing this “World” card specifically), I clarified this placement with 3 cards, to hear more of the story:

• Picture #15, below: (Influences form the Outside Clarified): 1) Two of Swords; 2) 5 of Swords; 3) Judgement (Higher Life lesson)=

• Let’s take each one separately: 1) Two of Swords= If you look at the image on this card, the first thing that hit me was, the upside down “V” shape and 2 pillars (that rep the Swords on this particular drawing of this card), made me think of NASA’s symbol, & I looked up when they were to launch their mission to Mars. Also, the feather that is being held by the woman in the middle of the picture, looks like a fish, & I looked up the timeline of when they are to land on Mars, & it correlated to the EXACT date that Pisces begins, Feb. 18- Feb. 19th, 2021!

• So why is this important you ask?= Because w/ regards to this card, we are clarifying what Outer Influences w/ the World are we going to be dealing w/ in the future... (Even though I asked only for the 1-2 weeks ahead, sometimes Tarot gives you larger-than-life messages, here, about the human collective, & you have to be open to it...)

• So, first, in my opinion from this, it feels like the NASA Mars mission will reveal info. that will affect our World here on Earth, & I kind of feel, we may also find out hidden info. or plans re: the current Gov’t’s plans for possible space warfare. I think this is only related to our present Gov’t & hopefully, if this is exposed as a truth during this time, hopefully a new person will be in the White House, & we can avoid anything as a country that would’ve been potentially dangerous.

•• Down to the nuts & bolts: Because all Higher Life lesson cards don’t normally have a time period attached to them, when you see more than 1 of them in a reading, it’s understood they all are happening usually at the same time.

• So, in between these 2 Higher Life lesson cards: The World (#21), & Judgement (#20)= there is a message that we as a human collective, are being judged, re: how we handle this crisis, how we treat each other as people during this time, etc.- & the a) 2 of Swords has to do w/ a decision of sorts that will be made, or 2 sides are being seen, that may be in conflict- this feels like our Gov’t vs. the protests.. I feel this will correlate to 2 months from now= Beg. of October.

• b) The 2 of swords clarifying the World, & then the 5 of swords we clarified further= 5 swords= deals with conflicts; where the actual meaning involves a battle where there are definite aggressors, who do not listen to any possibilities, & discord exists. ie) Again, a threatened Gov’t (President) will not listen to reason, & in doing so, jeopardizes the whole health & safety of the United States. His behavior seems like ti will continue.

•• c) NOTE: Because the 2 of swords is clarifying a Higher Life lesson card (”The World”), & the message is the strongest towards the next card chronologically after “The World” card, this feels like the timeline the cards are trying to say to focus on first. (2 months after Leo/ August)..

• If you check out the 5 swords in this deck, it almost looks like each sword is a lightening rod. I feel around this timeline, we will be having issues with our weather, & major storms from tornadoes, (where because of instabilities caused by natural disasters, it is seeming like we may have another Covid spike due to major weather changes.

•• a) So, the 5 wks (represented in the 5 swords card) after the 2 months= feels like this is the full timeline expressed here= these conflicts will fully take us to the time period of beg. to mid- November. As a side-note, it feels like conflicts also w the election will be taking place at the same time.. (& another reason for a spike re: our health crisis.)

• 3) Judgement (#20) -Higher Life lesson card=

• If you look at this card, Archangel Michael here is taking on the battle, & hopefully will help the people (=the hand in this image): Usually, in other decks it is Archangel Gabriel that is blowing a wake-up horn, with a Red Cross symbol on a flag, saying we will be awakened from the state of affairs, & receive help. Here, regardless of which Archangel the artist meant for us to see, this Angel is helping the people in the water to have a spiritual awakening too.

• a) Because all of these cards are showing up, it feels like it is referring to more battles that will be coming/ happening in our society as we know it, to the point that Judgement, (or the Archangels Michael & Gabriel) metaphorically are called in, to correct the situation back to balance.

•• NOTE: Everything represented by Judgement, spoken about here, definitely needs to be replaced by harmony & teamwork in the future.

• Our 10th Card: is the card representing our Hopes & Fears=

• Here, the Princess of Swords (Page of Swords in other decks), reps. a time of researching & checking facts on information being put out there; also this reps. watching the behavior of another person in a calculated manner.

•• (ie) Because Swords rep. Air, & the next Air sign coming up is Libra (Sept. 23rd - Oct. 23rd), this feels like we, as a country, and a people, may start to challenge the Gov’t further starting during this timeline, into the next season. (Fall into Winter.)

• Our 11th Card: is the card representing The Outcome=

• Here, the Outcome card is the 8 of Pents: This as an Outcome card speaks of two different layers or timelines. Originally, I asked what was coming in (situations, in our world, our health, livelihood, etc.) from June 20th - August 8th, so on One Level, this card reps 1 week after the Leo card (7 of Pents, turns into the 8 of Pents), & this = August 8th.

• In the immediate future of this first timeline, I feel we will continue to focus on what we as a people can do to work together, create new work opportunities, and help each other with common goals, & causes that we’re all interested in.

• On the Second Level, if we follow the Higher Life lesson timeline, after the World & Judgement cards, it looks like this period of 8 is another 8 weeks, on top of the last date we stated, mid- November. So, 2 months after that, will take us to January, & my sense from this card, I am hoping from the feel of what this card usually stands for, we will have a different person in the White House.

• It may take some effort to move him out of there, but this card is ALL ABOUT placing other people alongside of yourself and working towards a common goal, & honestly, that’s not what’s going on w/ the person running our Gov’t right now... so I am hoping my prediction here is correct!

Ouch

So. Cyan is going through a breakup which means...update— no more fiancé. He isn’t taking it well at all. But it’s his fault (for cheating x4) so here come the guilt quotes of depression. And it gets worse.

Cyan’s breakdown process:

-no eating

-sleeping badly

-suicide attempts

-self destructiveness

-self-harm

1. hanging (witnesses: Chara and Juli): 7th Jan: 4am (room)

2. Knife to the temple (witness: Chip) 7th Jan: 5pm (kitchen)

3. Multiple stab wounds (no witnesses) 7th Jan: 8pm (room)

4. Car crash (multiple witnesses) 8th Jan: 3pm (on his way back from school)

Alex visit attempt:

Mind blank and only longing driving him, the brunette absentmindedly trudged to his ex’s door. Such a familiar path. Familiar sights. Scents. A recurring thought.

“I want to see him.”

Repeated over and over like a broken record. Crimson orbs still dulled from the other’s absence, he stood there, a hand lifting to knock.....but it froze. He froze. A sudden jolt in his heart rate and his mind.

‘W-what am I even doing here?? Knock on the door?? Knock on the door and what, huh? What do I even say??? “Sorry, I just really wanted to see you”? He doesn’t want you here. He never asked. He never called. If anything, he’d prefer to get rid of you so he can move on. He doesn’t want to see you. He doesn’t want you here. He doesn’t want you here. He doesn’t want you here. He doe—‘

The new mantra. Those words swirling around his head, he withdraw his hand and backed away. There, he turned his back. Time to go home. Time to continue the punishment...

Serial killing:

An anger. Frustration. Burning hatred. Why did they have to get involved??? Laying in his bed, 3rd degree burns and the scent of burnt flesh, he rolled over in a huff.

“I want to go out.”

With that thought, he lifted himself from the sheets and headed out for a walk. Location: Where nobody would hear you scream...the abandoned part of town.

As his steps caused the dullest of echoes, a commotion could be heard from up ahead. A gang war. Did he want to go down like that? Is that even a good way to go? Nah. By his standards, if he’s going to die, it’ll have to be from his hand. Pulling up his file however, he made sure to save just in case.

Planning to walk past and ignore them completely, attention was still brought to his figure.

“Hey! You! No fucking witnesses!”

A druggy had his gun drawn already, pointing it at the young boy.

“Listen....I didn’t see anything. I just want to walk...okay?”

This didn’t necessarily suffice as the two gangs suddenly surrounded him. Encircling like vultures, the leader spoke up.

“No witnesses. Pussy.”

With that, he was shoved. Considering his body hadn’t healed yet and the burns stung, he stumbled into the others. There they shoved him. Back and forth like a paddle ball...and each time he was shoved, a new sort of emotion ignited him. One he hadn’t felt for a while...

Bloodlust.

Following five more pushes, the brunette drew his blade and slashed one of the ruffians in their stomach, stabbing his abdomen deeply afterwards. With that, gun shots blazed. As he was close enough, all shots struck him. Despite the pain however, he used the last of his strength to plunge his blade deeper and deeper until a single shot to his head ceased all current action.

With a jolt, the boy’s body rag-dolled before them.

“Fucking bitch.”

“Heheh, he really thought he could take us out? What a dumb cunt.”

Oh the laughter and further phrases of humiliation as they kicked his corpse back and forth. Soon enough however, they grew bored and eventually returned to their initial conflict, ignoring the cadaver as it vanished only being replaced by breaking heart. Once the red pieces scattered, it was time for reloading.

As Cyan’s body reformed where he’d saved, the advantage was with him. A crooked smirk traced his lips—he was finally smiling again.

The commotion was the perfect diversion as he slunk past flying fists and charging limbs. The first down, was the leader. Multiple stab wounds to the back and soon head as he fell. Eyes widened as if they’d seen a ghost but that was short lived by arrogance. Mindless lunging commenced by a plethora of stupid human beings. Cyan only grinned at their foolishness, aiming for each of the knees that barrelled towards him. Bang!

Some fell but others kept going. Almost all had forgotten their own guns, feeling that they could easily take on a child without it. Big mistake. Tossing his gun to the side, he entered the fray and started stabbing. Crimson flew and stained his face in splatters. His height enabled him to crouch below their striking line of action making their stomachs an easy target. A slash. A stab. A plunge. A twist. The cries of agony as blood pooled on this morbid battleground.

The smile had nigh left his face. It only grew larger in fact as some begun begging for their lives. This only fuelled his bloodlust. Eyes were gouged, teeth kicked in, Skulls crushed from his stomping. At movement resembling more and more of a dance as red bathed him. His eyes shone with glee. Evidently, one tried to run but Cyan was able to grab his clothes before he was out of reach. Yanking the last one standing to his knees, only a few words were muttered into his ear before his throat was slit.

“No fucking witnesses. Pussy.”

Ramblings: Double Hat Tricks, The Bruins’ Crease, Strome, Dzingel, and Rittich (Jan. 23)

Oh boy, am I ever glad I caught the early game on Tuesday’s schedule. It was the marquee matchup pitting the defending Stanley Cup champs versus the San Jose Sharks. The two squads did not disappoint.

13 goals, two hat tricks, two two-goal deficits wiped out. Good times.

Alex Ovechkin led the Caps with his third trick of the season and added an assist for good measure. The captain is up to 36 goals and 56 points in 49 contests. With that performance, Ovechkin extended his goal-scoring lead to six.

However, it wasn’t enough as Washington surrendered a 6-4 lead in the third period and lost the game 7-6 in overtime. That’s six straight losses for the Caps.

The hero of that extra frame was Tomas Hertl. The 25-year-old is having a career-season and added to that with his own three-goal, four-point night affair. It’s his second hat trick in the last five contests. He’s already matched his career-high in goals (22) set last season, and is just one shy of his career-high in points (45).

He’s vying for the award for best value in fantasy drafts at this point.

Linemate, Evander Kane continued his red-hot play right alongside Hertl scoring two goals in this one. The left-winger has 12 goals and 24 points in his last 19 contests while putting up 3.5 shots per game over that span. All but three of those points have come at five-on-five.

After a dreadful November and so-so December, the 27-year-old has been a man possessed.

Kane has always been a streaky scorer, but the difference this year is his chemistry and the development of Hertl. Kane is clicking well above his normal assist-rate, all the while finding the back of the net in a sustainable way. He's likely to go on a goal-scoring binge at some point too, but when he's dried up, you can likely now count on the apples to keep your squad from starving with him in the lineup.

These two players performing at such high levels are excellent signs for the Sharks as we witness Joe Thornton finally begin to succumb to Father Time and his perfect record.

Not to be forgotten, Joe Pavelski added a goal and three helpers, and Logan Couture added a goal and two assists. Both of these guys are producing just below a point-per-game and are continuing to bring the consistent results that a fantasy team can set their watch to.

Erik Karlsson sat this one out again. The team still expects he’ll suit up at the local All-Star festivities, which is a good sign that this shouldn't linger into the stretch drive.

Of note, it sounds like Ovechkin will play Wednesday against the Maple Leafs and as such will sit out his All-Star-skipping suspension on February 1 against the Flames.

Don’t look now, but the Arizona Coyotes are just two points out of a Wild Card spot. Their 3-2 win over the Senators on Tuesday evening catapulted them up the standings and into that spot.

This is a squad that has been decimated by injuries this season. They don’t have their starting netminder. They’ve been without top forwards, and top defenders. They lack star power but are finding ways to win games.

Not exactly a recipe for fantasy owners to be clamouring for.

The injury concerns haven’t subsided yet either. Tuesday night saw the squad down to four defenders for a stretch as Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Niklas Hjalmarsson both left the game. Hjalmarsson returned but OEL did not.

No word on his condition for tonight, but with the All-Star break upon us, here’s hoping that rest will suffice for OEL. At this point though, I feel it’s time to stop considering Ekman-Larsson as a high-end asset, or even one with a high-end upside.

He’ll be 28 this offseason and has played at or above a 50-point pace just once in his career. He has witnessed his shooting volume and conversion rate consistently decline over the last four seasons. God help you if your league still counts plus/minus.

Lost in the shuffle of this one was Ryan Dzingel scoring his 20th goal of the season. The soon-to-be unrestricted free agent has saved his best hockey for when his bank account needed it most. The speedy 26-year-old winger is on pace for a tidy 34 goals and 65 points.

Hands up if you saw this one coming?

Dzingel is clicking at 18 percent which is likely to see some regression, but this is a player who hasn’t shot below 11.5 in any of his four NHL campaigns. He’s putting 2.3 shots on net per game after managing just 1.7 a year ago. His production will likely slow, but doesn't appear to be a true apparition.

All this while finding chemistry with Matt Duchene means he’s a worthy stream in the back half of the season. Even as the Senators likely settle in at the bottom of the standings, Dzingel, Duchene and Mark Stone all have millions of reasons to produce big numbers with July 1st looming.

Chicago has won two games in a row. This is not a drill.

On the heels of an 8-5 drubbing of the Caps on Sunday, the Blackhawks defeated the Metropolitan Division-leading Islanders 3-2 in the shootout on Tuesday. Dylan Strome and Jonathan Toews scored for the Hawks, while Valtteri Filppula and Mat Barzal answered for the Isles.

Strome has been given new life in the Windy City. He has 15 points in his last 13 games and has reignited the chemistry with junior linemate, Alex DeBrincat on the Hawks’ second line. He’s also loving life on the top power-play unit.

This is why we don’t toss away high-pedigree players before their 22nd birthday.

Meanwhile, Toews now has 17 points in his last 14 games and 48 in 51 games overall. That 0.94 point-per-game output is right in line with his peak production during Chicago’s heyday. Perhaps we were too quick to write off the captain as waiver wire fodder.

Patrick Kane is on pace for 47 goals and 116 points.

Jonathan Toews is on pace for 35 goals and 77 points.

Alex DeBrincat is on pace for 40 goals.

Yet the Blackhawks are racing towards a lottery finish. In the world of fantasy, I’ll take that combination over the Coyotes’ situation any day.

Drake Caggiula skated on the top line with Kane and Toews for the second straight contest skating 20 minutes on Tuesday. He’s failed to record a point in either match, but if he’s to live there long term, that makes for an interesting stream for daily setups.

Edmonton lost again. This time to the team who started the night in 31st place. But, hey, at least they locked up a 30-year-old goaltender with 31 games of NHL experience and a 0.905 career save percentage. *shrug*

Mikko Koskinen took the loss tonight, stopping 24 of 27 shots. He’s 3-8-0 in his last 12 games (10 starts) with a 0.880 save percentage and a couple of hooks midway. Not exactly pressuring management to extend him.

Needless to say, I don’t love the extension.

Then there’s this:

I’m guessing that seat under Peter Chiarelli is red hot.

The Flames defeated the Hurricanes 3-2 in overtime in the late affair. David Rittich was once again stellar, stopping 33 of 35 to win his seventh game in the last eight. He owns a 0.918 save percentage on the season and has fully and completely locked down the starting gig in Calgary.

With the way the Flames are playing, that’s a mighty powerful asset.

Sebastian Aho continues his run by recording an assist in this one to give him 16 points in his last 11 games and 54 in 49 on the season.

Meanwhile, Andrei Svechnikov saw just 12 minutes of ice and none on the man-advantage. Not exactly the setup we were hoping to see the youngster rocket down the back 30.

There were some whispers leaking out of Boston regarding Tuukka Rask's health status on Tuesday. If you missed it, Rask suffered a nasty looking concussion when his own defender, Charlie McAvoy shoved Filip Chytil into him during a rush.

Apparently, the Bruins’ trainer needed to be held back from McAvoy as he was irate that he put their goaltender in such a dangerous position. After the game, Rask was wearing a blindfold to deflect any light – not a great sign for a minor concussion.

On Tuesday, his agent said that Rask is more day-to-day and that the injury doesn’t appear to be anything too serious. Speaking from experience, thinking that a concussion won’t be a big deal a few days after the incident is asking for trouble. We can hope Rask returns quickly and healthy, but I’m sure the Bruins (and fantasy owners) are preparing for the worst. That universe sees Jaroslav Halak take the reins.

Back in November, this wouldn’t have seemed like much of an issue. Halak was vastly outplaying Rask – arguably playing the best hockey since his run in Montreal all those seasons ago. However, despite his strong play at the time, the Bruins refused to anoint either as the clear number one and have run a pure tandem setup.

Season to date:

Rask: 14-8-3 0.919 SV% over 1457 minutes

Halak: 13-9-2 0.919 SV% over 1480 minutes

However, over the last month, they’re going in opposite directions.

Since December 22nd

Rask: 6-1-1 0.928 SV%

Halak: 2-4 0.875 SV%

It looks to have been the right move as Rask appears to need the push throughout the season – similar to what Khudobin did for him last year. This concussion will surely throw a wrench in that. It does open up the value of Halak in a big way though, but only if he can get back to the level of play from earlier this year.

That’s a big if. But one that is worthy to swing on if you’re in need of a starter on a good team as your squad pushes into the playoffs.

Countdown to #Eurovision: Yearly Reviews - 1982

We’re approximately three months away from the next edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, and while we’re waiting for more of the 2017 songs to be released before reviewing them (as we did last year), we’re going to revisit Eurovision song contests from the past and rank our favorites in each contest.

Welcome to Harrogate! Well, where is that? In North Yorkshire, apparently... as if all people should know where that is, of course... It’s in England, where I participate in watching the last contest that I’m not too familiar with - for a while, that is. From 1983-1996, I’m well-informed about the songs and the presentation. However, I’m curious enough to watch this edition in full; it’s only a little over two hours long. British efficiency – but of course! Jan Leeming (I think that’s her name) would lead a very structured and quick songs presentation and voting sessions; the first song is already starting about 8-9 minutes in! When we get to 1997, it’ll be an entirely different era of Eurovision starting to take form, and I’m interested in seeing that, too. Her French is a bit awkward and clumsy, but so will be 1983’s English and French, soo… what can we say. They didn’t try to pull anything crazy, but the presentation of 1982 wouldn’t be very memorable as a result. Moreover, there were only 18 countries – Greece, Italy, and France all jumped ship. For shame!

Again – I only know a few of these songs. I also know that everyone’s immediate reaction to Bucks Fizz winning the year previously was to start dancing and actin’ a fool. But I’m ever-so-eager to learn what else will surprise me here. Let’s go!

1. PORTUGAL – Doce, “Bem-Bom” - 13th place, 32 pts

God damn, Portugal! For two straight years you sent really fun and interesting music! They don’t usually do ‘wacky’ entries, but this was as close as they got back in that day. I love the thumping drums that keep the song moving and interrupt this from being a true disco-beat. The four ladies who sing the song have fun dance moves, all black and white ensembles, and the “Hey!” shout followed by two claps during the choruses enhances this song. The only thing I could fault them for is the vocals themselves, which are very basic. It’s just fun, and a great start to the contest.

2. LUXEMBOURG – Svetlana, “Cours apres le temps” - 6th place, 78 pts

With a name like Svetlana, I’m going to guess she is not a native Luxembourgian. Well, whatever – she’s beautiful, and her voice soars high into falsetto-land. High and above the heavens, at the end! She is attempting to fly like a bird and starts prancing like a ballerina. I’m not sure how I feel about the song itself, given it’s simple pop feel, very typical for that era. But I think it holds up well for what it’s setting out to accomplish. This is much different, and much better than, their 1981 entry – but they would perfect it even more in ’83.

3. NORWAY – Jahn Tiegen & Anita Skorgan, “Adieu” - 12th place, 40 pts

Gah, they’re back! Actually I read somewhere something interesting about this – apparently Norway was getting tired of being relegated so lowly in the voting, so they put forth some ridiculous amounts of effort in ensuring the lyrical and musical quality of the song would sound less ‘Norwegian’ and be more accessible. I think it paid off! I am fonder of this than Luxembourg’s song already, and it’s simple but steady… at least, steadier than Jahn’s microphone. Calm down, dude, no need to be nervous! It’s cute, it’s cuddly, and very loving. Good on you, Norway!

4. UNITED KINGDOM – Bardo, “One Step Further” - 7th place, 76 pts

Alright, so you’re at home in the UK, watching your act take the stage and thinking how awesome it is that your country is hosting the biggest television show in the world. Two singers, a male and female, proceed to sit on the stage. Then this tribal drum sound starts up, the title comes stuttering up the screen, and the dancers start rolling and … air-humping? Wow, Mom and Dad, we sure are a great country! The problem with this song is that it tries to do EVERYTHING at once. It’s over-the-top. There are great parts, and horrible parts. Her singing is more inconsistent than the guy’s, too. I wanted to really like this, but all I can remember is how the first 10 seconds of the song were completely unnecessary.

5. TURKEY – Neco, “Hani?” - 15th place, 20 pts

“Not there, honey!” Okay, then where? Well, it’s obvious to me that the 1970’s aren’t completely over yet in Turkey. Now, Neco has a great voice; it takes a lot of confidence and experience to lead an effort like this. Also, the sounds that take over toward the end – the electro-disco synthesizers and drums - make this song so much better than the year before. A solid effort from the country that had yet to see a Top 10 placing.

6. FINLAND – Kojo, “Nuku pommiin” - 18th place, 0 pts

Oh… This is that song… LOL. Well, Finland makes sure to expand your idea of music, that’s for sure. I don’t know how they expected to score well with this song; the first two lyrics (in English) sound like “Yo sir Kunaka, eating cock-aaaa” and the credibility flies out the door. The chorus is “Bomb me – bomb me – nuku bomb me – lean on help a bomb”… It’s a rock song in Eurovision, and it’s very new-wave 80’s rock. Now, this is one of those “so-weird-slash-bad-slash-odd-that-its-good” entries. I’m having a hard time doing anything but making fun of the song. But in 1982, this was too progressive, and he literally screams half the song. The breakdown at the end is very cool, and he has a Bruce Springsteen vibe. He loses that rep when he makes a snore sound at the end. I don’t care if this was part of the original composition, it’s dumb. Why do the Finnish insist on making awkward sounds in the last five seconds of their music? (See 1980.) The man at the giant drum does this pirouette move and fails to pretend to hit the drum on queue. Watch it, it’s hilarious!! I will have to balance these things towards the end with my voting. Summary: this song is awesome. But it’s challenging.

7. SWITZERLAND – Arlette Zola, “Amour on t’aime” - 3rd place, 97 pts

Well this pondered right into the hearts of the 50 and 60-year-olds watching from home, huh? I get a weird half-Aunt vibe from Arlette; not to mention, she’s trying to be Kate Bush a-la Wuthering Heights during her ESC performance, dress and all. She has the right voice to take this song to new heights, though, and it’s very schlager. But it’s not in a category of song that I wish to pursue after I’m done watching this song contest.

8. CYPRUS – Anna Vissi, “Mono i agapi” - 5th place, 85 pts

This has a very melancholic feel for a ballad, and I sure do love it. It harkens to “Johnny Blue” but carries a true sense of lament. This song shows off Anna’s vocals so much more than “Autostop” did, not to mention, her intonation is flawless. Literally not even one note was out of tune! I can definitely feel something going on here, and it’s probably the best ballad of the night thus far!

9. SWEDEN – Chips, “Dag efter dag” - 8th place, 67 pts

There was supposedly a band named Chips in the Irish National Selection, which could have caused the very interesting and odd situation of two groups with the same name in one contest! This is so lame, I’m sorry. Interestingly it’s similar in design and content to the 1985 winner, but for whatever reason I could feel the energy and jubilance of that song. This just looks lame, and outdated. Maybe it’s those loser saxophone players; I don’t know. There’s also some weird thing going on toward the end that lends influence by ABBA themselves. And ABBA you are not. Get off stage, please.

10. AUSTRIA – Mess, “Sonntag” - 9th place, 57 pts

You named your song ‘Sunday’? You... named your group “Mess”? This song is a mess. Well, this is the reverse of the UK – the female singer is much better than the male. But again, it’s a lame throwback song. Are there any redeeming qualities to it? Uhhmmm… well, they look colorful on stage? And the man did a good job at catching the girl? No, this is definitely a candidate for the big goose egg from me, which hurts – I really like most of Austria’s songs from the 1980s.

11. BELGIUM – Stella, “Si tu aimes ma musique” - 4th place, 96 pts

Yes! We have officially entered the world of 80s pop! It’s a bit schlager, but not too bad. And dare I say that Stella is knock-dead gorgeous. Yes, I do love your music! Now the lyrics end up coming off as a bit corny, and I’m not sure how well the Francophone countries scored this, but the composition boosts this one for me. It has a very sunshiney feel that was missing from the previous two songs, since those came off as so fake. This actually makes me happy!

12. SPAIN – Jan Lucia, “El” - 10th place, 52 pts

I was listening to the Spanish commentary leading up to this entry, and it was really conserved – but I imagine the hype was there! Lucia is such a diva on stage, and she controls the audience with her delivery. It’s very Spanish and it’s basically tango music, but I have to love the dance breakdown halfway through the song. What an interesting way to enhance its uniqueness. Spain has recovered from an otherwise dull past two years! So, knowing that ethnic can work, what do you think they’ll send in ’83? …. :D

13. DENMARK – Brixx, “Video-video” - 17th place, 5 pts

Oh my god, Denmark, you actually sent new wave music to Eurovision!!?!?!? YES! The music television era has begun! Now, let me guess – the song did horribly with the juries. It is a tad short, and the front-man’s voice is a bit cringe-worthy at times. But talk about a song that can get stuck in your head… “Video! Video! Ja, video mej”. I’m definitely rewarding this some points if I can!

14. YUGOSLAVIA – Aska, “Halo, halo” - 14th place, 21 pts

Okay, I was watching the first 15 or so seconds of the beginning of this performance thinking, “Okay, so the only really bad comment I have so far is their clothing. Not a deal breaker!” but then they started singing, and I put my hand to my face. Not only does the orchestra have to literally quiet down so that these ladies’ voices can be heard, but then you’re welcomed with a bunch of 45-year-old housewife voices grooving and sidestepping to a schlager-fest. No thanks. There are… okay elements to this, especially towards the end, but it’s too late. The lady in the black dress looks so bored. It’s too bad because I recognize one of the singers (the one in blue) – she’d return in 1983 as a backup singer for a much better song.

15. ISRAEL – Avi Toledano, “Hora” - 2nd place, 100 pts

This is one of the other few songs I’m aware of (save for the winner) for a very hilarious reason. Problems with the design of the British stage become evident during this performance; at about 1:27 in from the beginning of the song, the female dancer on the back-right knocks over her microphone, making a very audible fall. You don’t actually see it fall, but when they cut to the next shot, you see it on the floor. The female dancer on the back left is looking over to her like, “God damn it you messed this up for us!” and I laugh it off. There’s just not enough space to do those dances on that stage. But listen – the song itself is fantastic, perhaps even the best dance song of the night. Very Israeli, but powerful, driving, and led by Avi, who sings it with all he’s got. An excellent entry! And just when you think it can’t get any louder and bombastic, it does! Whoever composed this song for the orchestra deserves a gold medal. For real.

16. NETHERLANDS – Bill van Dijk, “Jij en ik” - 16th place, 8 pts

Okay. I had to pause this video and get over some laughter – what is it with people not realizing how their lyrics could be interpreted in other languages? Surrounded with girls, Bill runs up in surprise, points to the audience, and croons, “Cake!” As for the song itself, it’s so 80’s. And then the female drummer winks at you with total honesty. And then Bill grinds against the magenta-dress-wearing backup singer. And then Bill gargles a Dutch lyric. Then he screeches a bit. And then he does the reverse splits. And points some more. And pirouettes. Good luck winning, guys. Now I want cake.

17. IRELAND – The Duskeys, “Here Today, Gone Tomorrow” - 11th place, 49 pts

The Irish brought disco schlager to Britain. Fitting! Given what the Irish have accomplished in all the years they’ve been doing this contest, prior and later on, this seems so lame and effortless compared to others. The only thing I can think of is that this music was big at that time in Europe. For what it sets out to accomplish, it’s not the worst thing in the world – I like the harmonics of the voices during the “Here today, gone tomorrow” lyrics. But it has not aged well. And the “la-la-la”s are a cop-out.

18. GERMANY – Nicole, “Ein bisschen Frieden” - 1st place, 161 pts

You know, this is a quite peculiar song to end the series of songs prior with! The order of the songs was always random in these days, so only one could wonder how Nicole would’ve finished if she were placed differently amongst the other tunes. Despite all this, this song rocked the show so hard because everyone felt the need to capitalize on what Bucks Fizz’s win brought to Eurovision; even Britain. Germany stripped it all down and sent a girl with a guitar to center stage, sit down, and sing a song about peace. And it was a great song, too; probably the best folk song ever entered into Eurovision. Definitely deserving of the win; Germany’s first win!

Just another anecdote - Israel and Germany would trade each other the douze points on the night, which was seen by many as a sign of putting past histories aside for the sake of music and peace. If only some of the countries participating today could do such a thing! Ahem, Azerbaijan...

My votes:

12 - Germany 10 - Israel 8 - Portugal 7 - Cyprus 6 - Belgium 5 - Denmark 4 - Norway 3 - Spain 2 - Turkey 1 - Finland

Pre-production

Okay ya’ll, lets just jump into it. My goal from last month was and I quote:

“Anyway, my goal for next month… I honestly don’t know. Let’s keep it simple and say I want to make an A+. I’ll even settle for a script for our thesis but I’ll keep my expectations low. So that way when the carpet is pulled from under us, I won’t be surprised.”

So needless to say, I was not surprised.

But let’s start at the very beginning. After Law we had a very much needed Winter Break - you know for Christmas. By now I was overwhelmed and ready to drop out, honestly, so when Break came around it was welcomed with open arms. I even started packing the week before because I was just ready to go.

I didn’t want anything to do with the film on my break. I needed to give Full Sail a giant mute button so I could finally relax and enjoy myself.

Anywho after a long deserved break I ended up coming back fully prepared to work on the project and ready to put my best foot forward. Unfortunately, that was not what was going to happen. When we stepped in the classroom and well after it, I found out that during our 2 week break our Director had not written a single thing since pitch, he and his advisor Jenny apparently had been trying to come up with and or lock down a script. Not only that but they had not started the GoFundMe so we also had no money.

So we came back Jan 3. By the 10th we had what looked like a completed script, finally but the director let us know changes were still on-going (Maybe). After this I started to worry about budget, we have no money in our GoFundMe which they launched on the 12th and still had no plans about what we were going to do. Jenny who is a member of the committee suggested that our producer and director go to an off-the-books location to film what they needed there and just add it into the movie during Post Production. Which she knows we can not do. It’s why they give us a certain amount of days and even question us until we are blue in the face about time management. SHE DID IT TO US, That’s how I know she knows what she was doing. Not to mention that she made sure that she told them to keep it close to chest so that no one would find out.

Yes an instructor told these two boys to cheat...

(I’m just going to leave that there and you can do with it what you will). So the subject of budget comes up and the I am really worried so I ask what are we going to do.

(Now Disclousure Time: I will admit that I told our class that I would fund $500 to whatever project was chosen if ours was not. I had every intention of doing so. When confronted by our classmates about the film selection they told us not to give up on the film. That they believed in the vision and they wanted to be apart of it. We thought long and hard and with other people chiming in, we decided to move forward with our plans. The $500 went into a trust for the project that we plan to shoot in April or May. Our Producer and Director seem to think that we should take that money and put it toward the film... I can’t do that nor do I want to. You were given $2,000 for your film. Period. I’m not taking funds out of my already scarce budget so you can spend $1,800 on crafty... and I’m going to leave it at that.)

Needless to say all this came up and the director got into his feelings and said that Art was counting on that $500, so now our department will have to do what it can to get the art stuff together. The following day after class, during our meeting I asked about budget once again, because whether or not they wanted to listen to reason and act like adults we still needed to buy things for this film. Our Director took out a $10,000 check which was his GI money for school and living expenses (but I kept my mouth shut) and pushed it to my face and said, “Do you see this, I can fund this movie all by myself. I have at least $3,000, I can throw at this film.”

So I said “Okay, I was just asking. So when are we going to buy the stuff for art?” He said when he cashed his check... the following week he cashed his check but “lost his card”...

Anyway so during Monday Jan 16th - 19th we did not have class... except that Monday but it was really short and when I say we had class I mean only the people who were not working on D20. (Hold that thought, I’m coming back around to pick it up.) Alot of our classes have been short becuase We need to spend time on the project. WE meaning the entire group. So anyway our producer tells us that our director whom has not given us his vision, not done a previz, still can not find his card for the budget, not picked out colors for the wall, wardrobe, casket (Oh my gosh how could I forget about the casket, hold on we’ll come back to it.) was doing another project and could not focus on this one.

But Our Producer was acting just as incompetent. When the group asked him questions about anythign really, he would crumble and throw the director under the bus. (Which I did not like, as a Producer you’re supposed to protect the Director, not make it seem like you have no idea what is going on which in turn causes others to panic.) Our director took a job on another film knowing he had nothing for his own and we were already at the end of the month on crunch time. We film Feb13th and it was already Jan 16th, so we have less than a month to get everything together.

On that note, one day Van walks in and asks the question:

As if not just the first week of class he told us that he didn’t want to hear anything that was going wrong with our project. He made it abundantly clear that he wanted no parts of the drama portion and in doing so shut down any channel we had for help or to just vent.

We all had to watch as our Producer and Director lied to Van and there was nothing we could do about it. They lied and lied right through their teeth and no one was the wiser except a few slect people who would rather remain quite instead of calling them out like I did.

And not only did they lie to Van but they lied to us, especially about the casket, and this is where the good part comes in. Our film is now revolving around this casket, without the casket we have no film. The Director and Producer should have been looking for one since the pitch back in August or September, because both drafts had a casket but did they? No. So Jan 6th or 8th some time, I called around for a casket and found not one but two prospects, they were going to work with us on price and even said they would try and get someone in Orlando to sponsor us. Needless to say the Director who was doing nothing, said the casket was not up to his standards, it was too expensive and he wanted something for basically nothing or free. Well if he had started back in August or September he maybe would have gotten a sponsor but he did not.

So our producer says that the Bachelor’s Program told him we could use their casket. This was a great break in the streak of bad luck we had been having, so the producer and I (Since I am Production Designer) go to check it out. Everything was up to par up until we go and get the paint to paint it, two things happened here. 1. Our director who was frustrated at this point in his procrastination told the producer and I qoute, “Fuck it, let them pick the color for it, [Casket]” - we stuck with white since that’s what he wanted the first time - and 2. The Bachelor’s Instructor - can not remember his name, although I think it was one syllable - he had long blonde hair, - comes up to us blood-mad trying to figure out what we were doing with their $900 casket. I look at our Producer and he is as quite as a freaking mouse.

After a long awkward pause. I said to our producer, “I thought you talked to them and they said yes,” He says, “He talked to the students that had it, and THEY said it was okay,” Now I am pissed. Not only had he lied but he just stood there basically quiet, while I tried my best to calm down the instructor who had every right to be pissed. I’m looking at the instructor like “I’m so sorry, he said we had permission...” but what I wanted to say was...

It was the equililant of someone walking into your home and painting your walls neon green. You come home pissed and screaming asking first who are you people and what are you doing in my house, paintng my walls. And we respond back, oh yeah your gardner said we could repaint these walls and use them to to display our art.

*Sigh*

I’m so OVER being lied to, my “I’m over it” bridge has surpassed the moon and stars. I just want to graduate at this point and leave all of this behind. Honestly.

Okay, so after I calmed down the instructor, we got the go ahead and we repainted the casket. I have to refurbish the entire interior of the casket by hand because... for a reason too deep to get into and I have until the Feb 13th to do so. By refurbishing I will upload a video of what I a talking about. So far most, if not the majority of the casket is done but that is as far as the project stuff that has been relatively completed.

Just in case our instructor takes his time to read this entire post this is what as of Jan 29th that we have left to do and that I am sure you were lied to about:

1. Crafty

2. Catering - The Producer is trying to get his aunt and girlfriend to cook. I was told that we had to have professionals, menus and other things for catering. Relatives were not an option.

3. Either find the second location or find an alternative one - they have not locked this Disney Resort thing down.

4. Buy paint and primer to paint the Funeral Home.

5. Paint the Funeral Home - Need at least 2 days to do. 3 because the room has no windows... longer dry time.

6. Buy and or make the Debris - Need a full day for this.

7. Build and test the water machine for the hurricane - Need a full day for this.

8. Order and or get wardrobe - They chose to order, we don’t know if they will fit. Turn around time, if we have to return them.

9. At least one rehersal.

It’s sad that during the pitch I had to be on my Oprah game, be twice as good and better than the competition...

While they got to stand around with an idea... with nothing and still get picked and now we’re all suffering because of committee’s mistake.

There is so much more that happened but this post is long enough and you guys get the basic idea of what is going on and my frustration so I think it’s enough to get the point across. At first I was like, “Please some on help us with this thing. Director/Producer let us help you make this film amazing, just tell us what needs to be done, stop procrastinating,”

But now, I’m just like you know what, I did all this stressing before and during this project, I’m not anymore. Everyone looks at us like troublemakers or we’re doing too much, so you know what, you want to wait until the last minute, you don’ t want to hear about the issues we’re having about this film with all the lying going on, then Fine. Let’s see what happens when I take a step back and watch. If no one cares than neither will I. I’m tired of staying up all night stressing and wondering what I can do, coming up with ideas and trying to pass them through to a group of people who don’t care.

I’m over it.

Now I am just a spectator.

Not to mention:

I offered my help and the director asked for my help with the script, after getting the go ahead from the Director I worked tirelessly on it for 5 hours and he turns around, basterizes it, and turn it back into the cheesy, script it was before. Don’t ask for my help if you’re not going to use it. I have better things to do than to stay up all night and work on a script you had no intentions of using in the first place.

So what have I learned this month: To have A LOT OF PATIENCE. I learned what job is in control of what, that there are people in my cohert that I will never work with in the real world unless they really need a job and I have one to offer and even then it would be something I can miro-manage which I hate doing but feel it nessary with some, and that no matter how much we all try, we can only succeed as long as we all work to achieve it not sit around and daydream about what potential this film has. So for next month my goal is... I honestly don’t know. I want an A+, I hope I get one, I want the director and producer to get their acts together so we can pull off an epic film but at this point....
