Do people not understand that the shit writers/artists get in fandoms is cumulative?

Not that it's a fandom-specific issue, but that's the context I'm currently concerned with.

This has been on my mind for the last few weeks, thanks to some discussions I've seen on Reddit and a recent slew of negative experiences I've had myself, but the kicker was a comment I got yesterday that boiled down to how it's "irresponsible" of me to publicly put entitled commenters/bookmarkers on blast because others might see it fit to go harass them. A fair enough point, albeit one I have no sympathy for. It certainly doesn't help that the comment itself was holier-than-thou bullshit that started with how the commenter "empathized" with my frustration.

I crossed frustration months ago; I'm at nuclear fucking fury.

I have been writing for JJK since November 2022. I have been warding off entitlement and actual harassment since December 2022, which was when I started posting, and the frequency and variety of this garbage have notably increased since January of this year. It's been one and a half years of shit after shit after shit in this fandom alone.

Do you think this doesn't add up? Do you think my tolerance is infinite?

The vast majority of my readers are kind, warm, lovely, and supportive. I have a solid network of friends, within and outside fandom, who can talk me down from the worst of it. On top of this, I'm a spiteful dick whose reaction to negativity, whether weaponized or ignorant, is to write more of whatever pissed those whiny fuckers off. This is why I haven't packed up my toys and gone home.

And the spite and love are both still going strong, but there's also 18 months of steadily growing anger. The stuff I share on Tumblr is only the most egregious of the lot; you have no idea how much bullshit I silently delete or address quietly and civilly. Guest users, registered users, anon asks, direct messages—I have received some manner of shit from every one of these avenues on Ao3 and Tumblr.

I handle most of it quietly. Like hell am I willing to be told I should shut up and eat the rest of it too. Whether that's irresponsible or outright hostile, I do not care. Actions have consequences, online or offline.

I do not owe pity or grace to people who'd try to tear me down. I will not be taking the high road.

ALRIGHT, no more messing around I suppose.

Over the last twelve months my close friend @kimberlyeab and myself have been the targets of sustained harassment by a series of "anti-ship" accounts, that may or may not be the same person, that I am not going to name up here because I do not want to give them any more traffic than necessary. This is over some of the content we make, 18+ fiction revolving around Undertale and Deltarune, and sometimes involving dark kinks. I'm going to ask you to put aside whether you think this is immoral for the moment.

Under the break below is what I wrote a few hours ago. Things have since escalated. Both myself and Kim have been targeted by email bombs on our business emails, services/bots that spam your email address with garbage signups, rendering your email address completely unusable. At worst, this can overwhelm your email service so much that your account is unable to process new emails and is eventually disabled by the provider. I'm still getting bursts of activity after over 200 emails, so I'm not sure if it's dying down, or if it's so backlogged that this is what's happening.

This is literally a crime, by the way. It's classified as cyber abuse.

On top of this, whoever has done this has access to personal information. A full legal name, first and last, was used in several of the signups, so they are either implicitly threatening to doxx us, or simply flexing that they could. Likewise a crime.

Additionally, this seems well coordinated, but there are no suspicious recent results for us in The Usual Places. This makes me believe this person is probably using some foul back-alley site like KF to organize this. I don't think the legal name in question could have been acquired by one person, it's extremely difficult to trace back.

tl;dr: whoever is doing this knows their way around the internet and is actively dangerous, they are severely impeding our lives and have the potential to become incredibly, incredibly dangerous.

Why am I posting this? Not really to get those accounts in trouble (although you should absolutely stay the hell away from them, and severely scrutinize anything they leave a mark on). I don't think they'll be punished, nor would it help since they constantly block evade, and at this point I don't think this recent online abuse crap is actually them, just someone attaching themself to their crusade. Though I'm not sure.

What I want to illustrate is how these kind of callout posts feed into targeted harassment of minorities. This is just another reason why things that make you uncomfortable should be dealt with by curating your experience using tags and blacklists and blocks, rather than trying to assign moral value to what people make. If my content makes you that uncomfortable I *actively encourage* you to block me.

It doesn't matter whether you personally dislike minorities or not, or whether you're subconsciously targeting them, or whatever. Someone else who does will latch on. That person who writes nothing but callout posts, yet they're always for small trans creators who make some 'icky stuff' and never for big-name bigots who parade their bigotry out in the open; is it because they're a sock puppet of an overt reactionary, or just because they want to feel some control over their life so they subconsciously focus on vulnerable people?

Simple: you can't know.

These people are the dangerous ones. Not people who just make content, properly tag it, and mind their own business. But these people, obsessed with ruining other people, with finding 'evil' in the world so that they can purge it? You can find their name below if you really want, and literally their entire blog is just constant callouts, broadcasting people doing callouts, trying to network with other people who do callouts. This is why these people were originally called 'antifans', their entire fandom presence is centered around tearing other people to shreds.

Do your due diligence and fact-check, before you broadcast that someone in your fandom did something awful. Make sure they actually hurt someone. I know mega-bastards will use 'you can't prove it' as an excuse, but actually analyze it a bit. It's almost always painfully obvious, I know, I spent years doing antifascism. And more than anything else, neither entertain, nor broadcast, nor embolden the kind of people who dedicate their entire existences on the internet to lateral abuse. Not just these particular ones, but ANYONE who dedicates their life to this online torch-waving garbage over fictional content. Whether they're a reactionary or just projecting trauma, whether they actually hate x y or z minority or they just happen to always go for the most vulnerable people, whether the person they're targeting makes content that makes you feel very icky and gross or not, these self-ordained Crusaders are consistently, unquestionably, dangerous.

That's one page out of 4. Also some of them have between 10 and 80 updates in the one email from the same address. There's about 300 emails all up. And there's zero reason they can't do this again.

Anyway. The accounts in question are @snowcollecter/@brieffamilycat/@krispy-chicken-shipping/@bonniehbunny. First two are definitely them, I highly suspect the latter two are their main, or at the very least someone who constantly signal boosts them. We have endured over 12 months of:

calling for brigades against us, and at least 4 other people

block dodging to constantly screenshot and reference our posts

literal libel by accusing us of grooming a child despite screenshots, as well as both statements and direct requests to stop by both the supposed groomed child and their actual friends who witnessed all interactions we had

spamming anon asks to literally every single person that they can find who we ever interact with

using tiktok cen)sor)ship nonsense to get past peoples' blacklists and force this stuff in front of them

using no less than 3 confirmed alts with about 5 more extremely suspicious accounts in attempts to artificially broadcast themself and again evade blocks (when the original account itself is transparently an alt too)

joining multiple random discords to try to shove this stuff in peoples' faces

now spamming Kim's business email at signup services

probably being behind the attempts to doxx and raid us last year on a certain hate-monger website, since the signup spam demonstrates they're cool with bog standard channer troll tactics

They also pretty tellingly refused to even talk to this minor we supposedly groomed, who attempted to tell them personally that we hadn't done the shit they claim we did. You'd think someone who is this caught up about the safety of minors in fandom spaces would jump at the chance to help this kid, to tell them not to talk to us and get them away from us, to convince them to stay away? No, they said 'I don't talk to minors' (this is demonstrably untrue: their discord accounts are in many all-ages spaces) and immediately blocked them.

Of course. Because this was never about the safety of minors. Flip a coin; if it's heads, they're a far-right sock puppet who just knows they can use the 'think of the children' angle to drive a wedge into queer communities. If it's tails, they're just a routine runt who's projecting their lack of ability to do anything about the ACTUAL assholes of this world onto other queer people, wailing and flailing and doing anything they can to have some influence despite getting 3 notes on almost everything they ever post. Hence the anon asks, and Discord spam, and blacklist/block evading. If they can't have a platform - because anyone who looks at their garbage for more than a month at most sees how absolutely deranged they are - they'll just force people to see it.

Do they ever attack actual transphobes, which this fandom is not at all short on? Well, sort of! They did one or two callout posts about a TERF who used to run in these spaces... But didn't say anything about the TERF shit. Just the porn. The porn constantly put behind age confirmations and thorough tags/content warnings. This person spouted generic 'all-powerful trans lobby' 'social contagion' 'please look at this study about desistance I found on a hard-right website' bullshit, but no, it was them drawing aged-up highschoolers (REMINDER: NOT EVEN CANONICALLY UNDERAGE, JUST VAGUE HIGHSCHOOLERS, *AND* THEY WERE EXPLICITLY OLDER IN THEIR CONTENT!) that was apparently the greater evil.

Hi, I'm sorry you're having a hard time with people tagging your posts when you don't want them tagged with ship, I know most people will not look at the original tags if something is reblogged to their dashboard and just reblog and tag as they usually do, and people when they ship something will tag any interaction between the characters as ship. So like you said, probably a better idea to put in your original post. I think just adding "please don't tag as ship !" or "this art has platonic intention, so please don't tag as ship !" would actually be perfectly fine, maybe a smiley but i don't think it comes across as rude or mean either way, it's completely reasonable.

Personally I don't think lots of people would mind that sort of boundary, and the people doing it now most likely have no idea you have it. Anyone who does mind such an easy boundary (you aren't even saying shippers cannot reblog! just to not tag!) and gets mad that you put it in the post then is not worth your time.

Re: your recent post about noncon/underage content in fandom spaces, specifically in CoD:MW.

It's not an individual's place to police what Fanfiction or Fanart people create. The characters are fictional. The death, torture, and destruction in CoD fics are also fictional. In no country is murder "okay" either, but people die in Fiction all the time. There's a specific tag on Ao3 that authors can and should put on their works if the work features Under-Age or noncon content. You can filter out that tag and not read it.

I don't read them, certainly, bc that's not the kind of story I'm interested in reading, but it doesn't mean it's my right to tell authors to stop writing it. I don't read fics involving daddy kink bc it squicks me out like hell, but it is not my place to tell authors to stop writing fics with it. Fictional characters can't break irl laws, even in "reader insert" fanfictions. Authors are not and cannot be held accountable for the things they write, because they write fictional stories.

I recommend you block the users and tags you don't want to see, and you help encourage the creators you do want to see without insulting others. Your experience will improve. I want it to improve. I don't want you to be unhappy with your experience in any fandom. Fandom spaces are places to find your people, find your little joys, and to coexist peaceably, and it's wonderful when it all works.

I am not policing what people write. I simply stated how i feel about certain content on the internet.

If you think writing character death or death in general is the same or equal to writing pornographic content about children, you're too far gone.

bury's tips to ACTUALLY combat writer's block

a lot of the time when you hear writers talk about writers block and what you can do to fight it, the advice that you hear is 'just write'

i took this to be true for a long time, and it's not the worst advice or whatever. at the end of the day anything you want to get done w writing does need to be solved by simply writing. but it took me until i was writing much more regularly to realize that actually thats nonsense

there are totally things you can do to help w writers block! ive been experiencing a bout of it recently, so i thought id share some tips partially to help out those who might read this, and partially to help myself out of that same slump

FEEDING THE MACHINE. in my experience, a lot of the time writers block is less of a blockage getting in the way of a flow of creativity and more like a machine running out of fuel. thoughts, ideas, and emotions CAN come from nowhere, but... usually they are coming from somewhere! i get my worst writers block when i am bored, under-stimulated, or stuck in my real life. try getting out into the world and doing something you don't usually do. this can be wild and exciting, or small and plain. take a different route home than usual, go for a drive somewhere cool, take yourself to a garden, bookstore, museum. if you're stuck at home try a new hobby; draw a weird picture, bake something, bird watch. this is really my top advice for myself at least, and something i have to remind myself when im despairing my own worth and dedication as a writer. you cant pour from an empty cup! you cant make something out of nothing! theres no point scraping yourself dry without trying to fill yourself back up.

FEEDING THE MACHINE... DIFFERENTLY. same principal applies here, but with what stories you are consuming. what actually got me to start writing and posting fic regularly was starting work in publishing that meant i was reading 1-2 books/manuscripts every day. they were often outside my usual reading genres, and sometimes i genuinely hated them... but they were food for the machine. the brain doesn't care if you like books about cows, the brain cares about variety and expanding its horizons. read something new and interesting! try a classic. try getting into queer classics you've never heard of if you're tired of old white men. read a murder mystery or a biography of a cool person or the history of the romance novel or frued's melancholia. try that new fantasy novel youve heard good things about. even if you only end up reading three chapters, thats still something new youre giving your brain. documentaries are also great for this if you're not feeling a new book; sit back and learn something.

CLEAN UP YOUR ENCLOSURE. humans feel yucky when we're in a yucky environment. cleaning is often exhausting and annoying and it sucks, but so is sitting in an environment that makes you feel bad. try clearing off your desk or table. set something nice you like nearby! choose a sunny spot to work in.

TALK YOUR IDEAS OUT. i really struggle with this one, because i dont like bothering people and im really embarrassed about my ideas, especially in the planning stage. it can really help though! try talking to yourself in the shower like you're being interviewed about your work. try going on some chat site, find a stranger to talk to, and infodump until they leave (or stay and you've made a new friend!). ask around for someone who wants to chat ideas; you can share yours, they can share theirs. if you have a loved one who would listen, ask if they would sit down for 45 minutes and let you talk.

LIMIT DISTRACTIONS. this one also sucks but yknow. turn on forest: stay focused. close discord. ask your dog politely to stop barking. get off tumblr and stop writing advice posts about writers block. turn on some ambient music and rain noises or chappell roan's red wine supernova on loop.

may add to this later as i think of others, but the point here is that writer's block isn't laziness and, even if you do in the end just need to write, there are ways to uplift yourself and make doing so more pleasant. these also dont fully apply to what i think the actual cause is of what we often call 'writer's block,' which is just exhaustion and lack of free time; i wouldn't consider that in itself writer's block. these tips are more for when you have that time, or you're making it, but you just cant seem to make it happen.

Finally however, the stars align, and you were able to spend some quality time together after what you would both consider to be far too long.

Pressed against the walls of your quarters in nothing but a thin top and a pair of panties, Crosshair’s lips working the soft skin of your neck, hands running under the flimsy material of your sleep shirt make your head spin… and not in an entirely positive way. It’s been so long after all, what if he’s changed his mind? What if you’re not what he wants anymore? Negative thoughts swirl around your head as you try to keep yourself in the moment.

You’re lying on your back, leaning your weight on your elbows as Crosshair sheds his blacks at the foot of the bed until he’s totally naked before you. Honestly? Valid choice. I've gone on record about my own choice to tag for both "RWBY" and "RWDE," but to be frank I think "RWDE" is a borderline useless tag. RWDE folks have never agreed on what should go in there. Non-RWDE folks have definitely never agreed on what should go in there. It was created as an absurd way to divide the fandom between (incredibly subjective) Good Content and Bad Content, with the result that this actively undermines the purpose of posting on tumblr: for new people to see your stuff. Most of us recently saw that post with someone understandably asking what in the world RWDE was... as well as some of the top answers that provided an incredibly biased, borderline lying definition. Unlike something like "RWBY Critical" that both tells newcomers what it is and does so in a neutral way (these are posts that are critical of RWBY and the tag itself gives no indication as to whether that's a good or bad thing), "RWDE" is nonsensical to anyone not already in the know and is a RWBY-fied version of a very negative word: "rude." Despite most of us embracing that, it's still a tag designed to turn newcomers off.

So how is anyone supposed to find like-minded community members when our main tag doesn't follow any other tagging conventions, is framed as a negative from the get-go, and polite questions are immediately met with the more intense fans painting the worst picture possible? That was always the point. RWDE isn't "We just want you to have your own space where we don't have to engage" it's "We want to make this as difficult as possible so eventually you'll just leave." So... yeah. I use it because I know it will hit an already established core group actively looking for the kind of content I write, but I 100% understand you and others going, "Why would I use that? The fandom has been trained to block on sight. That's not going to help other people see my work on the Let Other People See My Work site."

I think I've said this before, but I want to do a version of those wine social experiments. You know the ones where they take super duper cheap wine, stick a fancy label on it, tell people it's the Most Expensive Vintage Ever, and watch them wax poetic on how absolutely stunning the taste is? Give RWBY fans a post without tags/blog name (or, to follow the pattern, with misleading tags/blog names), watch as many people agree with the points made -- or at least consider them seriously -- and then go, "Aha! This was a RWDE post all along!" Like any fandom under the sun you'll never have people agreeing on criticism and there will always be individuals who can't stand a word said against the show... but I guarantee if you removed the bias associated with RWDE you'd get a lot more fans who are RWDE.

Also, side-note, gotta love that I make a post talking about how fans are too inclined to attack critics than engage with what they're saying or simply ignore their stuff... and what's at the top of my inbox but someone calling me a piece of shit and accusing me of stuff I've never ever done (harassing the creators, misusing Monty's name -- the usual accusations that, as I said, fans pick up and repeat ad nauseam without thinking through whether they're accurate).

Arthur: I much prefer the old Canon explanation so I decided to write this prompt. Along with my personal opinion on how Order 66 would have went if the Clones did it willingly in the Clone Wars.

When the order came down, Commander Cody stood quietly. They had fought in countless battles throughout the Clone Wars. The man saved his life more than once.

But Cody's ultimate loyalty was to the Republic. Every Clone was indoctrinated into the army, taught all the contingency orders.

There was no personal pleasure in what he was about to do. Just a man doing his job.

That job being kill General Kenobi and possibly another Jedi.

Still, Cody felt a slight annoyance with the whole thing. It would have been easier to remove Kenobi without that damn weapon of the Jedi. But of course, Cody could still make sure casualties are avoid.

Still, he couldn't help but murmur. "Would it have been too much to ask for the order to have come through before I gave him back the bloody lightsaber?"

Still, a small part of him couldn't help but hope that Kenobi's death would be quick.

He might be a soldier, but he was still a man of his own who had thoughts or opinions of his own like many other Clones.

On a Venator traveling back to Coruscant, recently promoted Commander Rex stood, sell-shocked.

Rex raised his blasters at Tano's direction, saying. "Very well, I'm sorry."

"Rex!" Tano grabbed both of her lightsaber hilts but didn't activate them yet.

The Clone was about to fire before turning his aim and firing.

Both of them dropped dead.

At that moment, the door opened behind them, and the Clone Captain flipped around, noticing Jesse and the rest of the Clones.

"Take the Captain down!" Jesse growled, betrayal in his voice.

"Jesse-" Rex was about to say before they all fired at his command.

Tano jumped in front of him and began blocking blaster bolts. Rex gripped his helmet and fired. Eventually, they would have to run, but the man couldn't regret his decision.

"Come on!" Ki-Adi-Mundi shouted.

Clone Commander Bacara and the Galactic Marines had other ideas.

The Clone Commander would admit hesitating briefly. How could Mundu turn against them?

Regardless, the Galactic Marines Commander all gave the motions for them to wait until the time was right.

That time being now.

When Mundi turned around, all of the carbines clocked and aimed.

They fired, and the bastard was able to last for a few seconds before falling.

They stopped when they understood he was no longer a problem.

Clone Commander Bly cared about Aayla Secura.

Every one of his men do. She led them to hell and back on many planets. They hadn't even returned to Coruscant once since the war began.

When Order 66 came through, Bly gave a reluctant heartache nod to his men.

They all centered behind them, and Bly wondered if each of them were feeling tears in their eyes now.

They made it quick.

Her back sprayed with blaster bolts, and they didn't stop.

No, she didn't deserve to die so painfully. Were it a bastard like Quinlan Vos, it would have been different, but not her!

Neyo didn't even hesitate against Stass Allie either.

The speeders pulled up and fired.

That was all.

Gree had to admit being relieved that he wasn't executing Master Unduli.

She had been a good General. His men would take her out. He knew that much.

But Gree knew that Master Yoda couldn't be that much of a threat. He wasn't even involved with much of a battle.

The Clone Commander nodded at the other trooper - Jek - and aimed his blaster at the back of Yoda.

Pull the trigger and that would be all...

It’s from one the Blessed Be The Wicked’s creators, explaining that what has recently transpired in the fandom was a big misunderstanding because of a mistake made in the OG post. They have been getting a lot of harassment and that is not okay. So if you could please read it and spread it around to help clear up some things it would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

As far as it goes. Yeah. Hate and harassment shouldn't be something he's getting regardless of what his intentions were. Even if he meant it to mean exactly what people interpreted it as, harassing them over it and sending hate is just too far. No if ands or buts about it.

I don't give a shit how garbage of a take it was and how pretentious and gatekeepy it came off as. If you're sending hate to a mf then get fucked.

Genuine question, how do you improve your fanfiction writing skills? I got a new special interest recently and I want to write about it. I haven't worked on anything in a decade and it feels like my skills have regressed. I miss writing fanfiction (especially femslash) so much and I want to get back into it.

There are probably as many different approaches to this are there are people who write, but here's what works for me!

One thing I do think is universally true is that the only way to get better is to keep putting words down, even if you're frustrated by the quality of them. (And it is so frustrating to come back to writing after a long break and feel like you've forgotten how to string words together. I have been there! It's the worst!) So Step One, I think, is to figure out what you need to do to make it easier to brain dump. Skip over scenes you're not in the mood to write. Use placeholders like "[Witty reply]" or "[does something to show she's angry]" if you get stuck. Don't worry about using too many adverbs or repeating yourself.

If you're someone who struggles with anxiety when you sit down to write (hi, it's me), take steps to relax yourself so that your brain's filter won't get in the way too much. Maybe you put on some motivating music. Maybe you exercise your way into some endorphins first. Maybe you're me and you've mastered getting high enough to chill out without chilling out so hard you end up staring at the ceiling for an hour. "Write drunk, edit sober" doesn't have to be literal advice, but I like the spirit of it.

Once you've got a bunch of words to work with, pat yourself on the back! Maybe later you can revise your brain dump into something you want to show other people. Maybe you hate it and just want to do an autopsy to understand why. Either way, you've done something valuable just by getting those words out. Go through them and make notes, even if your notes are as vague as "This character's voice sounds a little off" or "This scene doesn't fit here." I like to highlight chunks of text I feel especially iffy about in green. And on the flip side, even the biggest mess is probably going to have something you like enough to repurpose somewhere else. I write in Scrivener, and all of my projects have a "Bits and Scraps" file for this purpose. 10/10, would recommend.

Speaking of which, "Kill your darlings" is terrible advice. Stash your darlings away for later. I have written a truly ridiculous number of words that never ended up turning into a story I could be satisfied with, and being able to reframe my thinking from "Ugh, what a waste of effort" to "Wow, that was a lot of great practice, and now I've got a document full of turns of phrase and jokes and plot points I can recycle" has made a huge difference for me.

My other tip is to spend time deconstructing other people's writing in your brain to understand why it works. Some people don't enjoy doing this when they're reading for fun, and they're probably better off trying this on a reread; I am the kind of weirdo who will stop in delight when I come across something I find effective and rotate it in my mind like a 3-D Tetris block. (As a messy bitch who loves writing out of sequence, I'm always on the lookout for especially smooth pacing and transitions that I can try to emulate.) When you read fics with characterizations that you like, try comparing the characters' speech and actions to their canon selves and see if you can trace how the author extrapolated from them; when you read fics with characterizations you don't like, see if you can articulate to yourself why they feel off to you.

Hello everyone! I realize how this post might sound, so I'll keep it as brief as I am able. But after some time in thought, I cannot stay silent about this any more.

I will be leaving the Isola Radiale community for good.

It is with a heavy heart that I make this decision, but I cannot say that I feel safe or comfortable with the philosophies behind recent decisions and acts of bullying on Twitter/anons that have been made in regard to other former members of this community.

I would go into the details, but I have come to realize that it just doesn't matter what I say. There is no defense or explanation that I can offer that won't be used as a way to defame my character despite any history that I might have with anyone.

But regardless, I would like a chance to explain my concerns.

I beg that changes be made to the codes of conduct of the Isola Radiale group. There is no safety for anyone as long as there is:

no safe space to engage in discourse

no three-strike system on the public rules page

no definitions as a unifying standard

no criteria for major or minor infractions

no appeal system whatsoever

no publicly detailed investigation process

no communication made to accused (which is illegal irl)

no accountability standard for the leadership

and a mindset that says: "shoot now and ask questions later."

I do understand the reasoning behind why certain things are the way that they are, specifically the zero-tolerance policy. There is a place for that, but it should never be the default for every single case.

There needs to be a list of specific and detailed criteria for the rare occurrence where a zero-tolerance ban must be made into effect, and the accused MUST be made in the know with no exceptions.

I have a huge amount of respect for how much time and effort goes into the maintenance of a group such as this. It is no easy feat to take time out of the day and dedicate it to others, especially when it is not a paying job. I would never discredit the hard work that is put into this community.

But that does not mean that there are no flaws in how things are.

Communities are made by people as much as they are made by leaders, who are also people themselves. The nature of roleplay is meant to be a cooperative environment, where we all agree we just want to have fun writing our favorite characters.

But there is fear. Fear of coming forward to point out problems that exist in order to help better the community, not harm it. The fear of being cut off from those you thought were friends is very real. At this time, I don't trust the leaders to come privately with my concerns, and I have little reason to believe that I matter in any capacity.

The simple truth is, I'm tired of being afraid.

I make this post only to notify those who I have been writing with and to make a marker of this blog's activity. I truly enjoyed writing in this space, and it was a wonderful place for me to dip my toes in the world of Tumblr roleplay.

I encourage those who remain to simply consider the bigger picture; You should be able to feel comfortable calling attention to legitimate issues without getting bullied on Twitter or being banned for it. And you have a right to be able to defend yourself and be considered seriously when being accused of something you're not.

Your voice does matter. Your safety and comfort matter. And your actions and character matter.

If you believe that because of my decision, I support morally repulsive content then you might as well ban or block me too. If you would so brazenly assume the worst in me with no evidence of such a claim, then go right on ahead.

For the record, I do not condone, engage with, or support content of a repulsive nature, nor will I ever do so. But like I said earlier, my words don't matter. I just hope the history of my actions would.

You might disagree with me entirely, and that is okay. I respect your right to do as you see fit.

I will return to this blog someday - in a few months most likely. I may continue answering indie interactions but I haven't decided on that just yet (I need some space from these events). I won't be abandoning my muse any time soon ^^

How long does it usually take you to write fics ? I feel like whenever I try to write one it takes months to even get an idea 😭 Do you have any tips on how to work on motivations ? It’s like I’ve had writer’s block for the last 2 years.

anon 😭 i feel honored that you wanted to ask me for advice 😭 so i'll try my best 😭 for me it really depends on the fic. usually if i get an idea for a fic or i get a request that i really really like, i'll rush to write the fic immediately. sometimes i'll finish a fic in one or two sittings (a couple hours of writing probably depending on the length), and sometimes i'll write a bit for the fic and then sort of abandon it because i've lost motivation. i have around 50 or more unfinished fics in my drafts, some of which will probably never get finished??

writer's block rly is the worst and whenever i'm struggling with it even for a day, it feels like weeks of not being able to write. sometimes its because none of the ideas i have are inspiring me, and i guess sometimes its just cause the words aren't coming out easily. but when this happens i try to think of something to small to write, like a timestamp for example. the task of writing a couple hundred words vs a couple thousand is a lot more doable when you're already struggling with writing. so i would definitely suggest starting small.

for inspiration or ideas for fics, i get a lot of them just by looking at pictures of who i'm writing for. if i really really want to write a soobin fic for example, but i don't have an idea, i'll almost always go to pinterest and just look. a lot of the time an idea will come from just looking at a particular photo.

another thing that helps is trying to write a new trope or au. having the loose plot or basis of a fic can help you think of how to write it. lets say i found this picture on pinterest of soobin:

and this picture gave me the idea to write a royalty au for him. so now we know we're going to do a royal setting. the next thing i would think about is whether i want it to be modern or more medieval, and for now i'm going to pick medieval. so let's say soobin is the personal guard for the princess (y/n) and we'll add in forbidden love as a trope to add conflict. so now we have the basis of the fic and the setting the trope to include etc etc, so now we can start writing.

using this process is really really helpful for me. start out with a photo, find an idea you like based on that photo and build it up from there. it can be really simple and small as well, it doesn't have to be as complicated as an entire royalty au with soobin lol

another thing i will say is the fics i post are so varied. for example yesterday i posted 3 fics: jeonghan, woojin, and sejun.

the jeonghan fic was from a request i had gotten recently and i only just started writing it and finished it in one sitting. it was a shorter fic and was just short and fluffy.

the woojin fic wasn't from a request, it was just something i wanted to write for myself. it ended up being longer and even though i started and finished it in one sitting, there was ideas i pulled from a lot of different places. the basis of the fic was inspired by woojin's song purple sky, the beginning part was slightly inspired by true beauty, and the ending came to me while writing. i think once you start writing, the fic can sometimes just come to you and flow easily until you finish it.

lastly the sejun fic was from an old request. like months old request if i remember correctly. it was half written and i had kinda abandoned it for a while, waiting for when i would get motivation to write it again. and sometimes you just have to wait until you are ready to write a certain fic again. sometimes trying to force out the words doesn't work and you end up with a result that you really hate and are frustrated with (this has happened to me a lot).

i know this was really long, but i hope it helped you even just a bit (idk whether i was actually giving solid advice or just bullshitting my way through this????) but ig the main takeaways are:

it's normal for some fics to take a long time to finish, it really just depends on the fic

start out small when you are struggling with writer's block as you are more likely to end up with a fic you are happy with (and finishing a fic and being proud of what you've written can snowball into more writing motivation!!)

if you are struggling for inspiration, try to find ideas from photos or just anything around you

it might seem like all these blogs are so active and have no problem producing fic after fic *cough yena/fairyhaos how tf do u do it cough*, but we all have our struggles and we ALL experience writer's block and have to overcome it. so don't give up and power through it, anon 🫶

Also, I completely understand how you feel. Sometimes working on a new idea or writing prompts on pinterest those have helped me in times of blocks. But finding new music also helps. Hmm...

Worst case scenario is taking a break away for a bit. It doesn't have to be long and sometimes maybe even just an hour away from electronics in general really helps.

Drinking your favorite beverage or taking a step outside for a moment to just breath in a breathe of fresh air. Sometimes self care also helps. Because more often than not, writers don't realize they aren't taking care of themselves. An unfortunate problem for creative brains.

I'm trying to help but sometimes I feel like I overstep so I'm sorry if it sounds that way or it's something you've heard a thousand times. 🙈🙈

I'm starting to wonder if maybe part of the problem is the way I've been writing recently? Because for the longest time, I would only write with paper and pencil. Then type everything after finishing. I haven't been doing that with OM because what if I leave my notebook somewhere and someone finds it and reads it? 😱

I'm also wondering if maybe taking the weekend to maybe read a book or something would help? Just. Chill out, not worry about creating, and just consume for a change. (It's the book I was telling you guys about on discord. Apparently it's ✨️spicy✨️.)

But I think you're absolutely right. I have been neglecting self care. Because what better way to practice self care than doing something I love? Even if it's frustrating me to no end right now? 😒 So I'll have to do something about this. Maybe take a break and read. Or maybe go back to my source material? That always helps me.

The current tag situation

In light of a recent post by @darklydeliciousdesiresI thought I'd make my own my what's going on with the tags. For those of you who don't know, there is a serious and systemic issue with posts not coming up in any of the tags the creator had added. In some cases, this is just one post, in others, it's a handful, and worst still, some people have everything vanish.

This issue first occurred for me in March of this year, and I have sent at least 10 requests for it to be solved, all were polite and explained the issue in great detail. Some were resolved in a matter of days and with others, it's been months.

I have gotten into the habit of waiting an hour and then checking if my post shows up, if it doesn't, I wait another hour and then I contact support. With something like this

This post/s (add links/links) won't appear in the tags, this is an issue across my whole blog and no one sees my content. All of my posts are labelled correctly and my settings allow people to see my blog. People are only seeing my post on their dashboards and on my homepage.

This has been an ongoing problem for not just me but other content creators. Since this seems to be a systemic issue I understand that it will take some time for all my posts to appear but I rely on tags for people to consume my content with I have worked extremely hard on.
