forever annoyed at the lack of non-woven jedi garments. excuse you, fibrecraft is the basis of society. where are they getting their cloth from? are they weaving it themselves? are they spinning it themselves? where is the knitwear. you cannot tell me that there are no sweaters in the jedi order. there are probably hideous sweaters made from fourteen different colours of yarn because they're made from the wool leftover from other projects. all of the colours manage to clash. and embroidery is just too good for teaching patience. hand-sewing in general is good and meditative.

these people are going to be darning their own socks, patching holes in their robes. they are going to have needles and thread in their survival kits and know how to hold the cloth tension just right with the force so they can re-weave the bigger holes by using tiny, straight sticks to hold the warp in place.

The Midnight Suns rock Band AU literally nobody asked for.

The AU in which Robbie never died at that race because the people who cornered him in that alley were actually the police. He managed to get lucky for one single time and narrowly managed to avoid jail by getting sentenced to do community work instead and assisting mandatory sessions in Blade's therapy group for troubled youth at risk. He met Nico, Wanda and Illyana there and ended up begrudgingly befriending them. Blade considers this kids both one of his biggest achievements and biggest sources of headaches.

Nico still get on Robbie's nerves sometimes and in the rare ocasion that he fights with Illyana it usually gets so bad that Wanda needs to mediate because neither of them will put their foot down otherwise. He still makes an effort to keep them in his life, because when he's too tight with money Nico will "accidentally" order too much pizza when they meet and he'll end up going home with leftovers afterwards, so he doesn't complain too much when she asks him to drive her places; and Illyana once showed up to take care of Gabe when he had the flu because Robbie had to work and didn't want to leave him alone, so when she mentioned that she was going to have to sleep in her van for a few days while she searched for a new flat after her former landowner kicked her out, he let her crash at his couch instead. They take care of each other in small ways, even if they dont' mention it.

Starting the band was Nico's idea so they would have an excuse for regular meet ups. She was also the one who got Robbie a second hand battery and insisted that he at least tried. It turned out that he was not half bad at it, he had a good sense of rithm and good coordination, and was surprised to find out that the gigs they eventually managed to pull out were starting to become a very welcome source of extra income. They meet for practice at a community center located in an old church, regented by a couple of old ladies: Sarah and Agatha. Gabe is their number one fan (and Piotr Rasputin is a close second, much to Illyana's dismay), so he's the other reason he hasn't dropped out yet despite being tight on time. After going for several provisional names, the last of them being Scarlet and the Witches, which Robbie was not very enthusiastic about, they ended up setting for Midnight Suns after Hunter's incorporation.

After Wanda was involved in a car accident that left her badly injured and put Agatha in a coma, their band was left without their main singer and guitarrist. It was then when Hunter, Sarah's niece, who had been raised by her aunt and her partner, temporarily moved back to the state after receiving the news about the accident. Hunter's relationship with Sarah became strained after she dropped out of college and started studying to become a tattoo and piercing artist instead. She's covering for Wanda and her stay is only temporary, or at least that was the original plan, but it seems that after her incorporation the band is doing better than ever before. Robbie's not so thrilled about having a new person joining his inner circle, and specially not one that's such a cocky little shit, but better gigs means more money, and he doesn't want to have to go back to work two jobs now that he can manage to live with the money he gets from his work at Canelo's AND the band.

Being constantly surrounded by the presence of a loving God sounds great until you realize you never know when his freaky fuckin eyes are gonna show up to check on you.

And man. They do it a LOT.

I still find it funny that people call eleven a "deadbeat husband" and their marriage "toxic" but twelve is the "perfect husband" and their marriage "wedded bliss" all because of the few moments we'd seen between 11 and River were them being "toxic". yes of course! let's ignore how the minisodes show how that description isn't true and even how little moments in the episodes themselves – "what? that's it?" (why haven't you kissed me goodbye? are you being sly on purpose so I'd kiss you first?) and "they wouldn't bury my wife out here" and the music room is the heart of the home and it's not a ghost story, it's a love story – show 11 cared and put in the work and yes, they're going to have disagreements like the ones in TATM because duh who doesn't but it does not mean it is the entirety of their relationship but people have taken it and made it the entirety of their relationship.

i think that if i could change one thing from the movie it would be the real meaning of Lara and Jor-El's message.

make it so the twist is that instead of being the all-benevolent beings sending a savior that clark thought they were or the malicious instigators sending a conqueror lex portrayed them as, they were just... people wanting to save their child no matter what.

make it so they were selfish and desperate in the way parents who love their child more than anything can be.

they send their baby to earth not so he would be strong enough to protect them or because humans were weak enough for him to enslave, but simply because that was the planet that gave him the best chance to survive on his own.

they wouldn't be there to protect their child from the world, so they sent him to a world that wouldn't be able to hurt him.

like Pa Kent said, parents are just supposed to give you the tools you need to become your own person. and what are Lara and Jor-El but desperate parents trying to give their child a chance to grow into a person at all?

I find it so interesting you mentioned you'd frame a hypothetical Trojan War adaptation from the pov of Sarpedon. Why him specifically?

so i've thought an embarrassing amount about how i'd construct a trojan war movie. it'd be divided into several segments with a different main character for each segment, so that the story of the trojan war is told non-linearly, with homer acting as a narrator to help the audience along.

i'd want sarpedon to be the star of that first segment (and the audiences' first introduction to the war and the rules of this universe) because i think he's perfect for establishing a lot of key ideas: the gods' investment in the war; the concept of demigods; how all these men have a life at home (sarpedon misses his wife and infant son); that anyone mortal can die, even those beloved by gods; and most importantly (because i've yet to see this in any adaptation and i want to prioritize it!) the very real and horrifying metaphysical consequences of not receiving proper funeral rites. i want the audience to fully understand that these men do not fear death as much as they fear what comes after (for their souls/psuche/that part that IS them) if their bodies should be hacked apart or left as carrion. i want sarpedon's death, the destruction his body, and the nightmarish fate of his being that can never enter the underworld, to resonate sooo hard through the rest of the movie. i want every viewer to understand later why patroclus' compatriots would risk their own lives to retrieve his corpse, and just how horrifying it is that achilles refuses hector to his face to return his corpse unharmed to his family.

sarpedon would be the narrative key to how death works in my epic movie, pretty much.

said i would post about this blog's 10yr dodgeball-of-prophecy pay-off before i delve into drafts, so here it is!

way back in january 2015, roughly a month after i first created this blog, i decided that it would be fun to rebel against canon just a tiiiny bit and give my version of john a pet: a stray orange tomcat named church. about nine months later, church had been tragically stolen by liv / @whcwashe and to compensate john for his loss, i assigned him a second pet: a stray black cat named sid. an occultist with halloween-themed cats who himself hates halloween, i thought it was hilarious.

fast-forward to last year, my folks very unexpectedly had to take in my grandma's 4 cats (for whom they did not have enough room), and it turns out that among them were an inseparable pair of siblings — one orange cat, one black cat. now 10 full years after randomly projecting my ideal aesthetic cat combination onto this lucky british sonofabitch, i have successfully metamancered half of my will into being (one cat already living with me) & will be bringing the other half home with me in a couple months!!

Smiles big and wide wouldn’t it be funny if Rusty when REALLY inebriated/high/whatever calls Hank every name but his own. whatever person Hank reminds him of at the time but spills every single story and honest thought to him vs remembering Dean name but not listening to Dean worried comments of taking care of himself and pushes ideas of grandeur wouldn’t that be fun.

it technically happened in canon how Hank learns about Dermontt, how fucked up do you think Rusty needs to be to call Hank Dad for chastising him in that cheerful way Hank normally does killing the vibe instantly. I think it would be funny
