also insisting msr was platonic was homophobic bc arguing that mulder and scully’s relationship had no romance to it because can’t a guy and a gal just be friends implies that if mulder and scully were both cis men or both cis women and they acted the same no one would be arguing that it was a romance but that’s untrue. they would just be gay for each other. the romance of their relationship transcends gender. them being canonically cishet only aided in making them popular, not in dictating the fact that their love is also romantic.

#at the risk of sounding like a conservative #like can't a guy and a gal just be in love #esp nowadays i feel that there can be a real misguided pushback to het relationships #(which also ties into biphobia bc ofc sexuality is never addressed. we just assume they're both het bc there's nothing to the opposite)#within the queer community bc so often they're just thrown in and do a disservice to all romance #but just bc two (apparent) cishets are in love with each other is not a dig at queer people #like arguably mulder and scully did just as much for queer people as like... the odd couple #or golden girls #it broke down gender barriers in tv yk #anyways like yes men and women can obviously be friends but demonizing sex and romance is not it either!!#i know i don't need to say all this though lol we all agree #txf
