Isshirou with fic starter 7: "Are you trying to tell me something?"

Someone desperate to rebalance the ship tags

“Are you trying to tell me something?” Shirou asked.

Belle bunched their dress in their fists, trying to take a deep breath without Shirou noticing how nervous they were. Like he hadn’t noticed. They’d been starting and stopping a million times over trying to think what to say or how to explain things.

“Would you like me… if I wasn’t a girl?” they mumbled, fists tightening. Their mother would be mad when she saw how wrinkled it was.

“But you are a girl.”

“But if I wasn’t.”

Shirou smiled, his face all melding together in those up turns.

“I’d love you no matter what.”

Belle’s heart stopped in their chest, feeling all their anxiety rush out of them at once. They dropped to their knees, crawling over to where Shirou sat.

“Do you think I’d be pretty? If I wasn’t a girl.”

“Of course!”

“You don’t think I’d be handsome?”

Shirou froze, eyebrows furrowing as he looked down at his knees.

“You could be both.”

Belle smiled. They’d dreaded the idea of being called handsome – of Shirou calling them such – but hearing it like this.

It felt different to anyone else doing it.

“But.” Shirou’s face dropped. “I don’t think I could marry you if you weren’t a girl.”

Belle stopped, the pain returning to their chest all at once.

“Oh,” was all they could say.

“I don’t think my mum would let me.”

“Is that so.”

They were sure someone had already told his mum.

Shirou held his chin, looking off into the distance like a detective in a movie. It would be a role that suited him. He should audition for one some time.

“I guess we’ll have to run away.”

“Huh?” Belle looked at him.

Shirou nodded, “it’s called eloping! Then we can get married without asking first.”

Belle stared at him, but found themself nodding.

“When should we go?”

“Monday, maybe? Everyone will think we’re just late home from school.”

"Are you trying to tell me something?"

Shirou snarled and turned his head to glare at the wall. It was all he could do to choke down the whine that wanted to come out as Isshiki leaned away from him, creating enough space, so they could see each other's faces clearly. Shirou simply continued to give him the cold shoulder. He wasn't going to dignify that question with a response if Isshiki was going to pull away.

Isshiki sighed softly, and Shirou found his eyes flicking to him. Just in time to catch the way Isshiki tried to hide that infuriatingly amused smirk that promised frustration in Shirou's near future. Isshiki most likely thought he hid it fast enough, his expression quickly relaxing into something that looked innocently confused.

Shirou opened his mouth to say something biting, but Isshiki surprised him by leaning back even further. Now he was sitting on Shirou's thighs.

"Well, then I guess I shouldn't continue," Isshiki sighed in a slightly theatrical way, "It would be rude to continue without knowing what you want."

Shirou spluttered angrily, "Fucker! Don't act like you're doing this for my sake! We both know full well that doesn't actually matter to you!"

"But Shirou," Isshiki's eyes glistened, his lip pushing out slightly in a tiny pout, "I thought today was about doing whatever you wanted. You wanted to be in charge for once, right?"

Shirou bared his teeth in a sneer at Isshiki. He didn't want to admit how desperate he was for Isshiki to just fuck him and get on with it. They ought to finish already, the humiliation of Isshiki trying to pry his embarrassing thoughts out of him was ruining the mood.

Though, his mind kept going to… that.

He shook his head, as if that would dispel the thought.

Unfortunately, it only seemed to push the thought even more in the spotlight in his head. Shirou would still refuse to talk about it, though.

"Shirou…"

Isshiki finally leaned in again, running a long, cleanly manicured nail under his chin. A shudder ran through Shirou's body, leaving goosebumps on his skin in its wake.

"Belle…"

"Will you tell me what you want now?"

Suzu leaned in even closer, his lips were so close. Shirou strained up. He wanted a kiss. It was so cruel to be so close and not kiss him, especially after moving away so far.

"I…"

"Yes?" Suzu encouraged playfully.

"I've been thinking about… you know."

"I don't, actually, Shirou. That's why we're still talking instead of doing anything," He smiled.

Shirou tried to lean up for another kiss, but Suzu gracefully dodged out of the way.

"Fine! I've been thinking about trying to suck your dick again, okay?"

Suzu froze, staring at him in shock. At least he was too distracted to dodge when Shirou finally leaned up for another kiss.

"Shirou…" Suzu murmured against his lips once Shirou finally broke away for air.

Suzu pressed their foreheads together.

"… Maybe, we can try," He tilted his head up to press kisses to Shirou's forehead, "Thank you for telling me," he said, that annoying smile back on his face.

"Whatever…" Shirou said, pouting, but already thinking about how he'd try to actually have Suzu enjoy it this time.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Isshiki!”

Isshiki ignored him, going back to brushing his hair in the vanity mirror.

“I don’t know what you’re so upset about. No one said you had to wear it.”

Shirou scrunched up his nose at the offending garment. Who was meant to wear it if not him? If Isshiki were to wear something like this, the skirt wouldn’t cover…

He pushed that thought out his mind.

“And you said we could share the wardrobe space. Sometimes things get mixed up in there.”

Shirou ran his thumb over the fabric. It was rough, but thinned and the colours were dull. It gave the impression it should have been a vibrant sunset, but had settled for being tissue paper.

“Where did you even get something like this?”

“Well, it’s not exactly like I’m going out with a purse full of cash.” Isshiki put the brush down, clipping the pearl hair clip on, two diamonds dangling from the chains attached to it. “I saw it in the secondhand shop window and thought it was nice for the price. Of course, they wouldn’t let me try it on in the shop, so it had to wait till I got home.”

That image snuck back into Shirou’s mind despite his desperation to push it out.

“If you want to try it on though, I’m not going to stop you.”

“Like Hell!”

“It might do you some good. You might look cute.”

“I’m not a-”

“Shirou.” Isshiki glared at his reflection in the mirror and Shirou froze. His heart started pounding in his chest, telling him to act fast. 

It still believed that every mirror was another way for Isshiki to disappear again.

“…Fine! But if you tell anyone-”

“Oh, I’ll be sure to.”

“ISSHIKI.”
