It's Padmé defending's hours for me

I have been seeing more negative (with very weird connotations, tbh) posts about Padmé on my dash lately, and while I'm a firm believer of the "scroll past it" rule, it really irks me a lot because MOST of these takes sound a bit mysoginistic to me and also (to me) shows a lack of trying to understand her as a character, not in a "you don't get her" way, but in a "you don't even try to understand the character and her context in the damn story just because you wanna sound holy than thou" way.

I'm all for accepting takes about Padmé's flaws or having a slightly more privileged/closed view (and that makes sense, she's aristocracy) but these people are SO WEIRD whenever they wanna talk about her 🤨

I'll forever mad that George eliminated SO MANY scenes with Padmé in the movies, but I feel like even if we had those scenes, people's complaints would be exactly the same.

But also i think half of the time people fail at understanding Padmé is because they're also failing to understand Anakin's as a character, idk

no but changing v's age to a tiny little baby* was silly and it was extra silly to give both female and male V the same birthday, because i see them as totally different characters with different personalities. and them having different birthdays was a nice addition that kinda highlighted it. like of course everyone can make their own V and roleplay as any kind of character they like, but i think the voice acting (english version) and romance options do paint a certain type of base for their personalities.

male v is a man in a man's world and he has to act like one in order to fit in and to survive. he has to have this cool tough guy act on, but sometimes it breaks, and you can find out what he really is feeling (for example talking to vik after the heist or the scene with skye/angel at the clouds). his romance options are both pretty big and wild personalities, and vincent in comparison to them is almost like more of a calming presence. but he does happily go along with both panam's and kerry's shenanigans.

female v is a woman living in a misogynistic world and that pisses her off. she is quick to anger and doesn't try to hide too much what she is feeling. if someone has an issue with how she expresses herself, then that's their fucking problem. to balance this, her romance options aren't as wild as panam and kerry, and they both offer a certain kind of domesticity to valerie. judy wants to move in with her immediately after their first time having sex (like a typical lesbian lol), and river is a family man and you can't make him leave his sister and her children. valerie's sex scenes are also less crazy and more "serene" and traditional than what vincent gets (a tank and a burning yacht).

some of these differences are also probably due to some underlying sexism in the writing (woman being more emotional, man getting wilder partners and so forth). but i still like that there are differencies. and when you add the three different life paths, you can get some nice variety to this pre-written character.

*i'm being overly dramatic because i myself am "old" and also a bit of a clown.

Me, a few episodes in: Wait, the protag really is going to be my character? The one I identify with the most? Seriously? That's insane, that literally never happens... what's the catch??

i bet obito (and maybe sakura to some extent bc i know she understands she's a puppet kage) would be SO mad to hear kakashi call sakura a fake kage. orochimaru did the same thing (except otogakure was not for world peace obvs)!! no one is calling HIM a fake kage (except maybe when he impersonated the kazekage at the chunin exams?)!!!

It's just ageism! Sexism! Homophobia! Pinkette discrimination! He's not taking her SERIOUSLY!

I do think the minute Kakashi learned that the kage of this village was a 12yo girl he went, 'Okay, found the figurehead, wonder who's actually in charge'. He probably picked out that people (subconsciously/unintentionally) defer to Tobi a lot, also quickly. Little does he know that Obito has so much of his own evil schemes going on that Sakura actually does 100% of the actual work of actually running the village. Do you think OROCHIMARU actually ran his village. Of course not he was too busy with his evil schemes. Suck on that.

Personally, I think Sakura is more of a real kage than any of these shits, because she thinks of herself as a middle manager Mace Windu style. She is probably the first kage picked for the job not because they were strong/political reasons/genetic reasons, but because somebody actually thought she would be a good leader. Granted, that person was Obito.

#he also just thinks sakuragakure is ridiculous as a concept #which i WANT to say isn't fair #but the origin of the story was 'hey do you know what's a ridiculous concept'.#so.#my writing #my asks #lots of downsides to her not actually being powerful at all #as its a basic expectation of the kage job that people will be trying to assassinate you all the time #like you have to be the strongest ninja just to survive the target on your back #obito knows this which is why he's so strict about the bodyguard situation.

So, I just had a thought (& possible realization that could be canon?):

As I'm sure many of us TNG fans are aware, it's never canonically addressed where, how, or when exactly Data got Spot. However, based on the order of the episodes, Spot wasn't shown or mentioned until "Data's Day", & because we were shown Data's quarters several times throughout Seasons 1-3 without any indications of a cat living with him, we can assume that he got Spot somewhere either in the end of Season 3 or the beginning of Season 4 (I know the argument could be made that he could have still had Spot, it just wasn't very clearly established or shown, but for the sake of my theory, let's assume that not showing Spot or evidence of Data having her indicates that he didn't have her yet).

The events of "Brothers" occurs just several episodes before "Data's Day". We saw in "Brothers" that after Dr. Soong died, Data took some of his father's things with him (i.e. the toy dinosaurs that he gave to the two brothers who were also in the episode). I think it's highly unlikely that Data would have only taken those two dinosaurs from his father's place, & I think he almost certainly took a lot more of his father's things with him (i.e. he probably took some of his books, artwork, etc.).

I think it can also be assumed that Dr. Soong didn't like being alone, & always preferred the company of another being (his sons & Juliana, for example). After the Crystalline Entity attacked, Juliana left, Data joined Starfleet, & Dr. Soong was left all by himself on that whole planet, I think he got really lonely, but didn't know or have any other person in his life that he could seek companionship with. Not wanting to go through the intense emotional & physical tolls of creating another android son again, & being unable to find another partner or spouse, I think he would have probably gotten himself a pet as a last-ditch effort to curb his loneliness.

But what would his pet be? Perhaps a cat...?

Long story short, I propose this theory: Spot was originally Dr. Soong's cat, & after he died & Data was looking through his place to determine all the things he wanted to keep, he found Spot, & knew he had to take her with him.

I'd have to rewatch "Brothers" to look for any evidence of Dr. Soong having a cat, as well review the episodes after "Brothers" & before "Data's Day" to see if they showed Data's quarters clearly catless again, to support this theory, but I genuinely think this could be how Data got Spot
