Am I the only one who thinks Cha Eun Woo might be better in the badass, cocky, action roles like in Island than he is in the pretty school boy roles like True Beauty?? Like, I love most of his characters, but something about Priest Johan just hits different.

I’m so freakin’ glad I started watching “Island” in 2023. It first aired in December 2022 and lasted for 6 episodes on its first season. The second season started last Feb 23 and the drama currently has all 10 episodes (6 for S1, 4 for S2) up on Prime Video. It’s the first time since “Kingdom” that I’ve found myself pumped for a Kdrama in the horror genre, though I’ve never considered “Kingdom” as a horror flick.

Anyway, going back to “Island”, I was quite excited when I first heard that Kim Nam Gil (whom I first saw in “The Fiery Priest”, another Kdrama that I hope will have its second season soon) would be playing the male lead alongside Lee Da Hee. I haven’t watched her in anything so I was interested to see her. And of course, there was Cha Eun Woo, who’ll take on the critical secondary male lead.

Kim Nam Gil is an immortal named Van who lived in ancient times on an island called Tamra (present Jeju Island). This island is the central point of all supernatural energy and serves as some sort of portal between the spiritual realm and the world of humans. Van and his brother Gungtan were once ordinary human children of peasant parents but they were selected to be turned into half human half demon beings in order to fight against lust demons that were invading the human realm and killing humans. However, they were only meant as a stop-gap until such time that Wonjeong (played by Lee Da Hee) a young girl who was being trained as the one destined to gather all the energies of the 5 elements of the world, will be able to erect the barrier between realms and bound the demons to their realm forever. Once she’s done that, they will be killed since they already have demon blood in them and would also pose as a danger to humans.

Wonjeong failed to erect the barrier and died in the initial attempt because of Gan's treachery and Van's failure to protect her. Now, she returns as the heiress Won Mi-ho, who's been sent to the island to teach at her old school due to some conflict she has with her aunt on the running of their family's conglomerate. She doesn't realize that she's there to fulfill her destiny.

Cha Eun-woo plays a young Catholic priest named Father Johan. He's a prodigy and is considered to be one of the best exorcists of the Church. His uncle is the butler who's taking care of Mi-ho and is her most trusted confidant. In truth, the butler is also a priest who knows about Mi-ho's true identity and her destiny . He calls upon Father Johan to come to Tamra Island and help protect Won Mi-ho from the evil spirits that intend to kill her.

I found this series very interesting and was quite excited over the premise. Unfortunately, it seems to be going in the way of the Netflix zombie/Joseon political drama "Kingdom", with only 12 episodes released and no definite details on a new season.

Guys this new kdrama Island is soooo good😭 I can't wait for season 2..!

I'm really worried about Johan (the priest).. In the last episode, when his brother as luth demon tried to attack Miho, Johan stepped in and got hurt.. But he came again and killed his brother... And when he started crying.. It was really pitiful.

And the story of them, when they found a family, just what the hell is wrong with these people?? They're collecting kids just to take their kidneys and leave them out..? I am shocked. Like how can you do this? To a child!

Anyway.. I hope they'll get revenge:) I think we'll all enjoy it😂

P.S: If you don't know, season 2 will be on 24th February☺️
