Hi! I live in a very Christian household, but have recently fallen in love with Islam. I’m trying to do more research to see if I really want to revert. But there are so many words that are common in the Muslim community that aren’t used outside of it. I was just wondering if you could give me a few basic pointers or had some resources you used when you reverted. Thank you!

Hello! I understand the struggle of not knowing the words used in the Muslim community. I honestly used Pinterest and Google mostly to research Islam online. I found this link that has a good glossary of terms:

I don't remember if this was the one I originally found, but it seems to be pretty comprehensive.

There are also some Quran apps that have articles on different topics as well. I really like The Holy Quran because you can play the recitation and read along in English. Dhikr & Dua also has some articles.

These are my apps that I've kept. There's a lot out there.

I’ve never really known what I want . I don't think I ever will .

I cannot help but wish there was something more , I’d bury my self somewhere else let my mind wander , I pray , I cry , I kick , I scream and beg , some days I fear I’ll never feel gods grace. I know that’s not true .

Thank god I’m not a Christian I think , I stare up at the piss stained ceilings in class , the dimmed fluorescent lights , every line makes a cross , I think to ask my teacher frank , does this classroom remind you of god ?

When bored I count the dots , it reminds me of a speckled egg , I swing my glasses round my pen , what’ll happen if they fly off? maybe they’ll break ? maybe some will laugh? others might look away ? they think me odd , so do I .

By now I’ve already run a thousand ways my self and others could respond to my recklessness . I stop swinging my glasses , they cost a week’s shopping without a voucher and I turn 18 soon . I takes notes on the naval mutinies at Spithead , and I start to wonder again , was revolution ever really possible , could 1797 been the beginning of a New England , I suppose in a way it was.

I continue taking notes.

I’m a walking contradiction , I see god everywhere , he’s blessed me infinitely . if anything he haunts me , his presence an inescapable comfort .

The sound of traffic lights beeping , the hum of the 30s engine, , the hairs on my arm . He speaks to me in many ways , most notably the breeze ,carried down from the heavens his voice rustles the leaves , when I reply I get no answer , just my own voice echoing through my head , more like rattling , there’s not much up there nowadays .
