As soon as the wedding reception wrapped up, the lovebirds set off for their honeymoon at the seaside. They took full advantage of the warm weather, gorgeous sceneries and time alone together.

Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag
I was tagged by @lettersfromthelighthouse. Thank you! I do have a version of this going up on YouTube as well, but I wanted to put it here too since I’ve done it I think every year since I started tumblr.
Amount of books you’ve read so far: 42!
Best book you’ve read so far in 2022: It’s a tie between The World Cannot Give by Tara Isabella Burton and The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins.
Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2022: I haven’t read many sequels this year, but Heartstopper Vol. 4 by Alice Oseman.
New release you haven’t read yet but want to: Either/Or by Elif Batuman, which means I need to read The Idiot first and How to Be Eaten by Maria Adelmann.
Most anticipated release for the second half of the year: Fairy Tale by Stephen King
Biggest surprise favourite new author (debut or new to you): Ava Reid. I read Juniper & Thorn and loved it.
Newest fictional crush: None. I don’t really get them for book characters. But my newest favorite character is Gwendolen Harleth from Daniel Deronda by George Eliot.
Book that made you cry: You’d Be Home Now by Kathleen Glasgow and The Wicker King by K. Ancrum both made me tear up.
Book that made you happy: Phoebe, Junior by Margaret Oliphant.
Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received): Gothic: An Illustrated History by Roger Luckhurst. It’s stunning!
What books do you need to read by the end of the year?: Um, a lot haha. Basically everything that’s left on my exam lists. I’m too tired to write all that out, but it’s basically just lots of Victorian novels and feminist theory.
I tag anyone who wants to do this!

Happy 70th Birthday Isla St Clair born as Isabella Margaret Dyce in Grangemouth, May 2nd 1952.
Born in Grangemouth and brought up in Aberdeenshire, she first appeared on stage at the age of three with the local Salvation Army. She was 12 when she appeared on her first TV programme, Talk of the North. By the age of 19 she had released her first record and toured Scotland.
Isla became a game-show hostess when the director of The Generation Game spotted her on TV, and she soon became a familiar face every Saturday night to the show’s 18 million viewers.
She won awards for the show, including TV Personality of the Year, and also made guest appearances on Morecambe and Wise, Max Bygraves Show, Parkinson and Blue Peter.
In 1981 she had her own BBC series, The Song and the Story, which told the stories behind folk songs. In the same year she co-presented The Travel Show with Des Lynam for BBC2 and in 1982 co-hosted Central Television’s The Saturday Show with Tommy Boyd
In 1984 she returned to her first love, singing, when she was offered the part of Maria in The Sound of Music. When the show went on tour, she took a career break to bring up her young family.
After raising her two sons, she returned to singing in clubs and making albums. Isla, now 65, lives in Buckinghamshire with her partner, Patrick King, a journalist and filmmaker.
I’ve chosen a lovely song made famous by Carolina Oliphant, Lady Nairne, who collected songs that have been traditionally passed down through time., many people have recorded this song, most notably Silly Wizard, and the subject of last weeks post, Jean Redpath.
I'm wearin' awa', John, Like snaw-wreaths in thaw, John, I'm wearin' awa' To the land o' the leal. There 's nae sorrow there, John, There 's neither cauld nor care, John, The day is aye fair In the land o' the leal.
Our bonnie bairn 's there, John, She was baith gude and fair, John; And O! we grudged her sair To the land o' the leal. But sorrow's sel' wears past, John, And joy 's a-coming fast, John, The joy that 's aye to last In the land o' the leal.
Sae dear 's the joy was bought, John, Sae free the battle fought, John, That sinfu' man e'er brought To the land o' the leal. O, dry your glistening e'e, John! My saul langs to be free, John, And angels beckon me To the land o' the leal.
O, haud ye leal and true, John! Your day it 's wearin' through, John, And I'll welcome you To the land o' the leal. Now fare-ye-weel, my ain John, This warld's cares are vain, John, We'll meet, and we'll be fain, In the land o' the leal.

After their brief honeymoon, it was time for the newlyweds to settle into their new daily routines.
John recently started a new job at the Britechester Chronicle, a local newspaper, writing short stories for them. It was his first job after university, where he graduated with a degree in Language and Literature.
While his short stories keep the bills paid, his dream is to one day be able to publish a full-length novel of his own. But as a newly married man, he knew his dreams had to come second to his new responsibilities as the head of the household.
Isabella was still getting used to her new life in the city. Having lived her whole life in the countryside, she felt completely clueless here in Britechester. She missed the fresh air, the sound of birdsong and most importantly - her friends and family. However, as a married woman, she had to keep reminding herself that this was now where her family was.
She'd been saddened to find out that their new townhome didn't come with a garden (a favourite hobby of hers), but at least it left her with more time to discover new activities such as cross-stitching.

John Oliphant couldn't quite believe his eyes. There she was, the love of his life, walking down the aisle towards him. Her name is Isabella Knight.
The two had met when John visited the family home of his university friend, Frederick, and was introduced to his younger sister. It was mutual love at first sight.
It wasn't long before he proposed and she accepted. And fortunately, so did her family.
He couldn't wait for their new adventure together - marriage. All that's left to do is seal the deal with a kiss!

Morning after morning, Isabella had been waking up feeling nauseous. John suggested that maybe it was something she ate, which couldn't be it, as she had barely been able to keep anything down.
It wasn't long before Isabella started noticing other symptoms: a swollen belly, tender breasts, lightheadedness and frequent visits to the chamber pot. It could logically only mean one thing, she was pregnant. Looking down at her bump, she felt tears pricking her eyes. All her life, she had dreamed of becoming a mother, and it was finally coming true. She had always loved children and was even considering becoming a governess, but those plans were thwarted once she met John. "I'm so excited to meet you," she whispered to her child.
Isabella couldn't wait to tell John. Upon hearing the news, he was overjoyed with happiness. He had never imagined himself having children, let alone getting married. All his life he had been told that he was "strange" and "off-putting". His mother had tried her best to help him with social interactions but to no avail. He was sure he would be alone for the remainder of his life. But oh how wrong he'd been.
