Outsiders AU where when Darry is 16 his dad dies in an accident which leaves his mother in a depressed state and her brother (their uncle) comes to help out. And he seems really nice and everyone loves him but this guy hates Darry (because he thinks Darry ruined his sister's life because her pregnancy is what caused them to get married before they were ready) and is just awful to him (physically and verbally) and he starts to internalize those feelings and believes he deserves it and the gang can not figure out why he hates his uncle so much because he seems pretty cool to them

Johnny is the first one to notice something is wrong of course. He's a little too familiar with "being clumsy" and long sleeves in the middle of summer.

As Darry retreats further into himself everyone just assumes he's being a moody teenager.

He starts spending more time on the west side with Paul just to get away (I haven't decided if he tells Paul yet or not)
