Probably the hardest thing for yumeship fic/game enjoyers to reconcile is that if writers can imagine people who do sweet things and act decently, then why can't real people also come up with those ideas and do those same kind and sweet things? I'm not even talking grand romantic fairytale gestures.

The fact that a writer - a real world human being - thought of it proves it's not impossible for someone to conceive of such a thing in the real world.

While we temper expectations with realism, it's still a massive mindfuck that people fail that miserably at being thoughtful and paying attention to things that are important to their partner. To the point that if somebody lovebombs us, it's still usually with an ulterior motive.
